A movie you don't believe! I was disappointed again when I watched the movie. It is doubly disappointing that 15-16 years ago this movie made a relatively good impression on me, but this day, having taken a videotape with this film, in which Sandrine Bonner plays, I was unpleasantly surprised by what I saw. That's what time means. This movie is deservedly forgotten and dusted on the shelves, even with such personalities as Sandrine and Jane March.
The most common story, the notorious love triangle, but played out in such a way that no one in this film is believed. You do not believe in the truth of the feelings of either the main character Thomas, or his passion Catherine, or his wife Amanda. The thought came that if you played these roles by unknown village actors, it would be more useful. Charles Finch, who took care of the writer and director and decided to play the main role in this film, simply overestimated his capabilities. That's not what you call a hat. To invite two beauties to your film does not mean that it will be a masterpiece. In addition, purely externally, Finch himself does not give the impression of a kind of brutal macho, for which most of the fairer sex goes crazy. Perhaps he is undeservedly flattering himself.
According to the film, Finch has a beautiful model wife. Brunette. But she prefers to live in London, and he has to spend the lion's share of his time in Paris on bank business, he's a banker. Therefore, it is no coincidence that he meets the blonde beauty Catherine. Thomas tries to keep his feelings in check, but Catherine, with her charming and seductive smile, literally drags him to bed, even though she knows he is married. By the way, the Frenchwoman is engaged in the production of hats, that is, not poor, but not rich. And almost immediately begins to dictate the conditions, which indicates not her feelings, but rather the desire to marry successfully.
Well, then there will be events, which in such situations are a pond. And none of the heroes are sorry. There's not even a hint of empathy. Perhaps if Charles Finch had invited Jeremy Irons or Alan Rickman to the lead male role, rather than pulling the blanket over himself, the picture would have turned out different. And so it turned out cheating, with two beautiful actresses. Permeated music that can convey the emotions of the characters, also did not hear. I don’t recommend it to you.
