Drum Boogie I know some girls who look at old movies, "dry" on the actor "Gary Cooper". But I'm not familiar with his work. However, when I looked at Love in the Afternoon (1957), I found something attractive in it, but more mature.
But after watching this tape, I can say that Gary Cooper, as a man, is nothing (in my opinion). The plot of the film is interesting: Scientists living in the mansion have been working on the encyclopedia for 8 years. Its creation is funded by the daughter of the late inventor, who thus wanted to leave a mark on history.
But one day, one of the scientists discovers that the material in the encyclopedia on the topic 'slang' is already outdated. Then he goes on an expedition around the city, where he listens to people’s conversations. This search leads him to a restaurant, where he meets a singer from the club “Pupsyk” O’Shea, who asks to take part in his experiment. She, not immediately, but agrees - and then the fun begins!
Personally, I liked the movie. Acting work is beautiful. Gary Cooper convincingly plays his role. But the main applause here goes still Barbara Stanwyck, which from her role makes a real fireworks. The role was turned down by Ginger Rogers, Carol Lombard, Joan Crawford and Betty Grable.
Lucille Ball wanted to play the role, but the producers wanted a bigger star. So Stanwyck got the role. The song "Drum Boogie" is sung by Marta Tilton in the film. But in the episode with matches, you can hear Stanwyck singing herself.
Also, I can’t help but mention Dan Andrews in a small role of a gangster and a friend of the main character.
They will put you in the electric chair and pass the current through you!

In general, a great crime-romantic comedy that can lift the mood at any time. What to say - shot pro - Howard Hawks
