I have a simple plan: watch something online on the PC - why complicate it?
KP also has a simple plan: come to me with a question: What should I watch? So I tell her, I make a choice. This time I decided to watch “Just a Plan.” Why are we so drawn to the 90s... already the ancient nineties... well, we just love them. The past sometimes seems better at all ... or only seems because the present will become the past-loved one day.
In the past, we were happy people or we just forgot about the misfortunes. Have we lost the past because we didn’t value it, or does time just slip through hours of viewing? After all, we constantly watch movies with our eyes or thoughts, even in our dreams... we see pictures that are vital, magical, wonderful. And we all want to go back to miracles, because there is less and less truly wonderful in the world... more and more dull prose.

Fargo.
It's a miracle to find a plane with some kind of providence. But usually not earned money is of little use and good bring, more often on the contrary... it is good if they just fly away from you without harming you, like crows pecking at the eyes of the hero. What if it's worse?
So, the heroes had a past, and now that they have made the choice to keep the treasure for themselves ... someone else's treasure - for them came the present. This is how an event, some fateful event, divides us into completely conditional "before" and "after": first love, first car, wedding, home, birth of a child, grandchildren, death ... - so many different, borderline events that divide us as the 38th parallel of North and South Korea. What divides the border? Is the air cleaner or is the grass greener north or south? No, it's all the same. So there’s no past, there’s no future, it’s just in our minds. Time is one, monolithic, indestructible... and only in us is there something that divides everything into the past and the present, the future... the beginning of times, the Old Testament, the New... the decades before and after. The 90s, the zeros, the tenths, the twenties... the nineties were already in the same 19th century. In order not to get confused in the monolith of time, we came up with the idea to divide everything into centuries, decades, years, hours, seconds. . .
A second ago, I was a happy person, it turns out, and a second later, I got into the hands of a bag of money that changed me, my environment, time itself, even though it's all human imagination. The air has not changed, nature has not changed. All the same, even I have not changed, just time showed what I am and what choices I make, what devils sit inside me ... they have long been there, waiting for a convenient episode of my life to go on stage.
So many thoughts immediately come, their own, strangers: you need to leave money, improve life, take care of loved ones... yes money stolen for sure... stealing from a criminal is not a crime, even if the money is dirty, it is not written on them. Some situations illustrate us well. It may be a good idea for many to go through this... God, it's raining out of a bag of money.
The most ironic thing is how the main character breaks down to take money... how he is persuaded to do it by two others... ironic is that then the main character persuades his wife, and she breaks down. It is as if you were looking at Satan. Eve - Adam is death. And how they all begin to boil a pot: now you can not say too much, you need to think through everything, cover up the tracks ... as if our ordinary, ordinary people have become criminals ... they are forced to lie ... first to others, and then to their friends ... accomplices ... lying instantly gives rise to distrust ... distrust - enmity, enmity - murder.
It is eerie... how quickly the money of the ‘good’ is turned into dishonest... into criminals... into murderers. And no matter how much they hide, do not cover their tracks ... the traces are becoming more and more, as if Someone is invisibly looking from above and bringing unjust cases to trial.
_
So why are we all looking for accomplices? To share evil with them, so that they will not be so hard on themselves? Divide and conquer. Divided the evil, and then the ends in the water... and the evil with them will go away? or will it continue to bear fruit in your life?
A small town, a farm, everyone knows each other. Every murder or accident that the Spectator observes is investigated through fingers, but is certainly voiced in the news bulletin. A serious-faced interrogation ends with a friendly handshake and "say hello to your wife." All this is more like a village detective with Aniskin.
Funny thing about the plane crash. It is clear that this did not happen yesterday, and rather not one month ago. But no one noticed the incident, although he fell in the vicinity of the settlement. The plane crashed, as they say, without noise and dust ... it turns out that it happens.
The wife of the main character is just a storehouse, an inexhaustible generator of ideas. What to do and how to “cover” the tracks is all about her. And I thought it was more interesting to her than taking care of a baby that was just born. I had high hopes for this character ... certain assumptions and an unexpected denouement of the story were already lined up. However, the authors of the film did not agree with my final. However, their version is not bad either.
Despite all the irony voiced above, I can not say that it was not interesting to watch, sometimes even exciting.
From the actors distinguish the play of Billy Bob Thornton. The dramatic fate of his hero evokes real emotions.
The film is very worthwhile in the genre of “drama”.
Even from the announcement of the film, it is clear that the lives of the heroes of an ordinary estate in the States change dramatically when a large amount of money is discovered. It would seem, what is surprising in the fact that literally fallen money from the sky can become objects of excruciating temptations?
This movie offers its own, and far from fantastic version of how people can radically change. The question is how the big money that a minority of people have could change us. But who knows how we’re going to behave when we actually feel millions of dollars with our own hands?
For me, this movie is good for everyone. An amazing game of the main characters. I never recognized Billy Bob Thornton (Jacob), although he was not hidden under makeup: just a fantastic reincarnation of one of the main characters who made a difficult choice. With his external, to put it mildly, simplicity, we see a strong and sacrificial person who respects traditions, is ready to help and avoids dreams of a distant paradise life.
An incredibly difficult role was played by both Bill Paxton (Hank), and Bridget Fonda (Sarah), which turned from a decent quietness of a bookstore almost into the main instigator of a cardinal "solution of the issue."
High quality camera work, stunning camera angles. What is the fragments of filming events in the ill-fated forest on top of branches with birds? Pay attention to the number of birds and animals filmed in their most natural settings. It seemed that the appearance of a fox, a constant dog Jacob, and the same birds was a conscious author's animation associated with fox cunning, stealing, dog loyalty and bird characteristics (something like: "I sit high far looking").
Of course, like any high-level drama, Simple Plan is replete with close-ups, long dialogues and sustained pauses before key events.
Maybe if the events in the film had been somewhat more dynamic with more diverse locations, the impression would have been brighter. It’s just a little tightened up, limited to space and actually five characters. Overall, the film is actually very high quality. I highly recommend watching.
Crows are always waiting for someone to die to eat. Terrible job.
It so happened in our world that nothing gets for nothing and even a hundredth note accidentally found on the street will do more harm than good. The law of meanness in all fields, so it is broken. But if a hundred dollar bill can cause slight discomfort, then what troubles can bring the amount much more, for example, four million dollars? The answer to this question will try to give our guest today. So this is a simple plan.
The story tells of three already elderly people who after a hard day’s work went to the nearest bar to relax, relax and poison the bikes, but their plans were not destined to come true because of the fox popped onto the road. Naturally, the man who was driving at that very moment turned the steering wheel to the left and the car imprinted into the nearest tree. Oh no, the heroes got away with only a slight scare, but the car was lucky much less. And if such valuable property was damaged, then we need to find the culprit. Driver? Oh no. The driver did not want to scrape the remains of the fox from the wheels of the car. Fellow friends who tell different kinds of stories, and why distract the driver from the road? Oh no. The guys just wanted to dilute the gloomy atmosphere that reigned in the cabin of the car. Oh, idea! The fox is to blame for everything, and therefore it is necessary to find her and make a collar out of a red beast. So what, that this reserve and animals can not be killed? Revenge. Revenge and hypocrisy. But we and the people have to blame someone else for what happened, not ourselves. It doesn't matter. So our heroes find a plane covered with snow, and in it a certain amount of money. And at first, people wanted to take that money to the nearest police station, but the longer they talked about it, the more confident they were that they would use it better. It was a shame they decided so, oh in vain.
It would seem that the viewer could see something similar in many films that were devoted to both bank robbery - "Mad Dogs", "Gentlemen's Games" and in films where the characters found a certain amount of money and decided to appropriate it to themselves - "Fargo", "Old men do not belong here", so how does this film differ from its counterparts in the genre? Well, let’s start with the fact that this film is shot quite plausible, which is a rarity for a criminal thriller. In other words, dogs eating diamonds, and several groups of criminals who came to rob the same bookstore in the film will not, and therefore what happens in the film causes a much stronger response in the heart of the viewer.
The next point of the program are the characters of the picture, whose characters undergo a kind of metamorphosis and those characters who caused negative emotions at the beginning of the film will begin to cause pity and sympathy while on all sides the positive and correct characters will throw off their masks of good-natured and greedy and selfish people will appear before the viewer who deserve all sorts of blame... or not? After all, money acts on people like a red rag on a bull and the most base desires crawl out that pustules, forcing honest and decent people to commit monstrous deeds, which this film perfectly demonstrates.
There is much more to be said about the film. It may be argued that the village fool is a far more intelligent and insightful man than his college-educated brother. You could talk about the father of the main characters, who died long before the film began, but who was the kindest and most correct character in this story. You can remember the excellent camera work, which suggests that "Fargo" was released three years before the film in question. There is much more to say, but it will be much easier and better if you see this film yourself, believe me, and it is really worth it.

Brothers Hank and Jacob, who live in a small town in Minnesota, as well as their friend Lou, stumble upon a fallen plane in the snowy forest, in which, in addition to the dead pilot, they find another bag with four million dollars. Despite pressing Hank, the most conscientious of the three, to report the find to the police, Lou, with Jacob's tacit consent, persuades Hank not to do so. After all, it is far from certain that anyone is looking for the money they found. And each of them a million and a half will not only not hurt, on the contrary, will help drastically change life.
Succumbing to persuasion, Hank decides to keep the bag at home until spring, and in case no one claims the right to it, the friends will share the bills among themselves. Encouraged by his pregnant wife Sarah, a modest librarian, Hank tries to convince himself that the bucks that have fallen from the sky will become the manna of heaven for them, which will break with shameful poverty. Soon the thought of having to keep all the money is so ingrained in his mind that he begins to commit more and more horrific acts.
And although Sam Raimi, already well-trained in the production of horror films, this time seeks to do everything to make the plot look as realistic as possible, and does not turn into a bloody guignole, the layering of fateful circumstances in which Hank falls, makes the story look like film noir. The oppressive emotional state is aggravated by the eternal, as if never ending winter, which makes you remember the hopeless black “Fargo” of the Coen brothers. However, to look for analogies in this case will be more logical with the famous “Avarice” (1924) by Erich von Stroheim, whose name best conveys the essence of this very difficult “Simple Plan”.
Despite the fact that released in 1994, the best-selling novel many wanted to immediately film, it took another four years before he found his film version. It failed in the North American box office, far from covering budget investments. Not even two Oscar nominations helped. Raimi was extremely painfully affected by the failure and “hurried into all seriousness.” Three Spider-Mans in a row made him one of Hollywood's most gold-bearing producers. And now it is unlikely that he will again want to make a “simple” movie about how green paper turns into a fetish, leading to a complete degradation of personality.
Sam Raimi, in addition to two well-known trilogies, has a bunch of films that are not so popular. But that doesn't make them any worse. It just shows how good the director is. Billy Bob Thornton still speaks positively about the director, wanting Raimi to make another film like “Simple Plan”.
After reading an article about winter movies, I came across this film. He came very handy. So to say, winter is one hundred percent. Of course, the Coen's "Fargo" will be remembered all the time. Apart from the time of year, the story is very similar. If not in detail, then in the vitality of the situation.
And one scene reminded me, "Old men don't belong here." In 1998, the film was not made by the brothers. Moreover, McCarthy has not yet published a book. But for several years on the shelves of the book dust creation of Scott Smith. Stephen King spoke very positively about him. I haven’t read the book yet, but it will soon be corrected.
Smith also wrote the script for the film. It turned out so well that he received an Oscar nomination. While watching, it seemed to me that everything was not written very well. But everything was smoothed out by the social component, sad monologues, and a mountain of corpses.
Raimi did that very well. In Russian, the book is also known with another translation of the name - "Bag with millions". You can safely add the word “bloody” or “body”. It was a wonderful winter thriller.
Winter is shown wonderfully. These deep landscapes literally penetrate the screen and absorb the viewer. I want to go to the park so as not to freeze. Especially when it snows.
Billy Bob Thornton played great. At first I looked at him and thought I could get an Oscar nomination. But it seemed to me that the film was not known, and Billy got nothing. But no, talent is always celebrated. A wonderful performance in the style of “honed blade”. Thornton is doing such a great job.
Bill Paxton is more serious than ever. I used to catch him in movies when he was laughing even in the face of an Alien or a Predator. But it was necessary to give his hero a pregnant wife and settle him in Minnesota, that’s all the cheerfulness of the character and came out.
Bridget Fonda in the role of this most pregnant wife is quite convincing. She’s not the bare-footed girl from Jackie Brown, or the prostitute from The Dragon’s Kiss.
At first, you are amazed at the unlucky characters of the film. Count the money somewhere else, damn it! But then I stopped shouting. Just enjoyed playing Billy Bob and was blown away by how easy it was for people to take their lives. No one asks you about it.
For a moment, imagine the situation: You were walking around the city and in a cafe / ATM / store (it doesn’t matter at all) came across a case filled with cash to the end, what would you do then? Would you seek out the rightful owner or would you take them? It is easy to be a hypocrite and bravado to talk about his great nobility, but it is another thing to really visit the shoes of such a lucky man. The test of the heroes of this film was brilliantly failed.
In the Mitchell family, Hank is the brain of the family, for which his father did not stint saving a little money so that his son learned and then got a good job, although judging by the behavior of this character it seems that his father’s investment did not even pay off. Jacob is a typical villager, endowed with all the worst stereotypes of a resident of a deep province, spending time with an equally narrow-minded friend. These are not the most worthy people and pull out a winning ticket for several million dollars.
Well, the ordeal, sent down by heaven complete with a pile of “green”, written in small print on the back page in the document of its receipt. Not only do there appear obvious disputes about the division of the found wealth, but it is also necessary to somehow be able to explain the appearance of such a huge amount without suspicion from neighbors (not to mention the “legitimate” owner). In general, the usual way of life can wave a pen.
Among the actors most wanted to celebrate the game Bridget Fonda and Billy Bob Thornton. Bridget is the personification of the same hypocrite from the first paragraph, whose hero turned out to be the most thoughtful and cold-blooded in the whole story, Thornton embodied the image of an unsuccessful, but to the last, believing in his own brother, a naive good guy who just wasn’t lucky in life.
A simple plan is a strong psychological thriller that does not hesitate to ask sometimes difficult questions, to which there is not always a clear and unambiguous answer. This movie is definitely worth its time.
