Beauty and the Beast is a typical Disney cartoon. Bright, with beautiful characters, a simple plot and filled with songs, it is interesting primarily because it is atypical for the studio. It's scary scenes, even if they're few.
The English beast is translated not only as “monster”, but also as “beast”. And the character turned out really animal - with thick hair, bent horns and sharp teeth. It has no natural analogues, if you think about it, although perhaps this is how small lemmings perceive caribou hunting them. Belle, included in the number of Disney princesses, dressed modestly, but she is very smart for a stereotypical beauty. A rare case when the main character does not come from the cream of society, by the way. But Gaston is a real example of masculinity and the male ideal of the 1990s. Muscular, bold, rude, but at the same time devoid of great intelligence. You can't make villains look perfect. Gaston’s close companion looks like a clown and causes a little unpleasant impressions. This is a typical comedian character, but in Beauty and the Beast it turned out to be a grotesque.
We can note the magnificent scenes in the forest, which cause a persistent feeling that we have a film about werewolves. In any case, "American werewolf in London" and the later "Van Helsing" are perceived in much the same way. Another question is who is more terrible – the monster in the castle or the inhabitants of the forest. The fate of the father of the main character causes no less concern than Belle herself. By the way, the cartoon is sometimes criticized for the fact that the father is shown to be too comical, although in my opinion the main drawbacks are in another.
First, there is an excessive abundance of songs. The eternal problem of Disney, which became acute, perhaps, in the time of the original "Dumbo". Everyone sings at every opportunity, and in the case of Beauty and the Beast, it is also inaccurate that all city residents, except the main characters, behave in the same way. They praise Belle, they praise Gaston, they hate the monster. In fact, the background characters are one crowd, where there are no separate personalities. That's second. But in any case, “Beauty and the Beast” is a pleasant spectacle, and its cult status is confirmed by the most authoritative judge – time.

The story is familiar from childhood, but here I got to this magical (not quite) fairy tale. The plot is simple - the father of the heroine is captured by the monster, and she comes to become a prisoner instead of him.
But on the stage, in contrast to "Scarlet Flower" there is another character - Gaston, the first guy in the village, a magnificent hunter, handsome, and a nasty villain. He reaches for Belle's hand, but does it as if she should thank him for giving her attention.
And, Disney turned out a truly disgusting villain who crossed all moral boundaries. He wanted to blackmail Belle into putting her father in a mental institution if she didn't marry him. And then he attacks the one who spared him.
Here, even a monster does not attract a full-fledged villain, simply because he is not a villain, but a rude creature. Yes, he didn't let the old woman into the house, but he, unlike Gaston, changed when this selfish man would never change.
I first watched this movie when I was three years old. I mean, when my parents just brought it on tape. Then there were cassette tapes and I watched it in Russian and English with great pleasure. At a conscious age, I realized that I loved the Little Mermaid. I still love and appreciate the film to this day. Even on the worst days, I still watch it. And yet, Ariel seems closer to me than beautiful Belle. Although it is also pleasant, kind and sacrificial.
Curious and the main villain. Although he is inferior to the previous ones (such as Ursula, the Evil Queen and Maleficent). Namely, the first guy in Gaston village, who initially seemed like a good guy to me. As a child, not everyone likes to read.
- It's not normal for a woman to read. Soon she will have ideas and she will start thinking.
I thought I could not read books as a child. So Gaston seemed like a human and understandable character. People like him can be found everywhere. And by the way, Belle doesn't understand. Except for 2-3 people. Her father and bookseller.
The townspeople are also on Gaston's side. Moreover, the very idea of the monster is embedded in each of us. The very monster that was cursed for its pride and people who do not want to accept other people. In France of the XVIII century (the film is France) not only was it not considered correct that the citizens read, but could also be burned on charges of witchcraft.
And indeed, although Gaston is not the first villain without superpowers. The first was Lady Trimaine of Cinderella. He has enough charisma and money to get people to follow him. By the way, I agree with other reviewers about the crowd effect: “I mean, yesterday your neighbors treated you well, and tomorrow they treated you well in the villas.” That is the essence of this work: who is the monster or monsters in this story?
But I stepped back a bit. If Lady Trimaine was a powerful and violent person. She mocked Cinderella in every way and indulged her daughters. Gaston is a living example of what will happen to a person if he already claims the freedom of the person and conscience of another person. This is what makes it look like the monster itself.
To be honest, I didn’t even see the difference between them as a child. But now everything has fallen into place. Gaston is someone who doesn’t want to learn from his mistakes, which leads to his downfall. A monster is one who understands his mistakes and under the influence of Belle corrects himself.
This is what makes heroes alive and memorable. Both the townspeople and the inhabitants of the castle. Though I wonder why they were also enchanted. The authors never answered that question. But that doesn’t matter.
I can say that Walt Disney even in his lifetime wanted to make this cartoon. But, as with all three cases, he couldn't come up with a villain for The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Sketches were already prepared in the 30-40 years of that century. However, after the failure of Sleeping Beauty, he walked away from the idea.
Interestingly, the authors of the Disney studio decided to rewrite the image of Belle. They removed the evil sisters, who, by the way, were in the fairy tale itself and their exploitation against it. That’s probably why Disney wasn’t looking for repeats. After all, Sleeping Beauty was called a kind of analogue of Snow White. Do not believe me, read articles on this topic.
It is also interesting how the character reacts to the monster and Gaston. For example, tactfully and beautifully refuses Gaston and sacrifices his freedom for the sake of his beloved father. And of course, my sympathies are with the Little Mermaid. However, Belle clearly shows us what growing up is all about. We are shown love, anger and quarrels between her and the monster. Which is pretty realistic in our lives. Just remember the conversation.
-Sit still!
- It hurts!
Stay calm and it won’t hurt!
If you had not run away, nothing would have happened.
If you didn’t scare me, I wouldn’t have run away.
But you shouldn't have gone there!
And you have to calm down your character!
I remember these quotes for a long time. And also...
“Yes, he is not a fairy-tale prince, but still, what kind affectionate eyes he has.”
The essence of the film is that the first impression is deceptive, but then you can change your mind.
Compare it to other Disney characters. I don’t remember a single case where an ordinary girl could re-educate a prince and love him for who he is. Except for Hole's Walking Castle. Sophie Hatter is very similar to Belle in this regard. The main character also has monsters in his heart. Neither Jasmine nor Jane could do such a thing.
The monster, with all his shortcomings, knows how to be sincere and caring. And even comical. I would be interested, by the way. What if Ariel knew more about her husband during the marriage? But as they say, the second part of the mermaid showed us everything (not a fan).
It is interesting that when we are afraid of the monster, and when we are not sympathetic to him. He is fearful and sincere at the same time. This makes him a true hero of history. You feel what he does. It delights the soul and the mind. After all, each of us thinks to himself, and if I do not seem to my girlfriend, wife and family monsters. Very close and natural. Don't you think?
Artists have best brought the monster to life. Even Belle was not as charismatic as he was. Ron Clements and Randy Newman were able to combine beautiful music and plot as beautifully as they did in The Little Mermaid and their other films. But to be honest, I liked the monster better than Belle. His character is the closest to human.
Secondary heroes are not bad either. Lumière, Coggsworth, Mrs. Potts and Chick (Potts' son) keep a good bit of humour in the story and even have their own musical numbers. Like all the heroes of history. And Father Belle is beautiful.
Belle, Gaston, Be Our Guest, The Mob Song, Something There
And even songs without words: West Wing, Battle on the Tower and Transformation.
Amazingly, this film shows us that evil is within us. And we have to draw our own conclusions to avoid bad consequences and then we will find our love. "Love for all time."
This film is an adaptation of a fairy tale about a beauty and a monster. I cannot judge how well-known the original source is, but this work is quite well-known in our spaces. Many people know this story because of this project. I am no exception and have also seen this work many times. I can safely say that it deserves your attention. Now for more details.
The plot tells us about the girl Belle, who stands out from the rest and a little out of this world. She is charming and mysterious at the same time curious. The opposite is the monster that the witch made for his misdeeds. The monster was locked in a magical castle and no one knew about it. But one day the father of our heroine by coincidence broke into this castle and was captured. After that, Belle goes to save him and then we see the development of this story.
The work is done qualitatively both outside and inside. By the first, I mean a beautiful visual painting. Many characters look original and by their appearance you can immediately identify the character and type. The main character charms in a good way, when at the same time the monster scares and fascinates. Artists and animators deserve special applause. By "inside," I mean the depth of the tape. She tells us that first impressions can be deceptive. The fact that you can not judge by clothes and appearance can be deceptive. The subtleties of interaction between people are revealed. It teaches us to overcome ourselves for the sake of those who are dear to us. All these messages form a strong foundation on which everything rests.
It is worth mentioning a lot of musical numbers. In general, the music adorns the picture and is its charm. At the end of the review, I lost count of how many songs were presented. Each of them was different and had its advantages. Those who love musicals should pay special attention to this. As for humor, there is no emphasis on it, but there are some funny moments.
Over. This is a very kind and instructive tale with an interesting and a little naive story. I recommend you to see everyone who is attracted to dramatic plots, as well as those who love studio robots.

1991 was rich in world events: the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc, the end of the Cold War, the Gulf War, the beginning of the Yugoslav wars, the death of Freddie Mercury and the collapse of Queen. And yet, it was in November 1991. out jubilee, the 30th Disney cartoon, the adaptation of the French fairy tale of the same name - "Beauty and the Beast". However, this cartoon is remarkable, in that it is not an ordinary, ordinary Disney cartoon, but an ageless cartoon that marked the full beginning of the Disney Renaissance (1989-1999). I watched this movie for the first time as a child and then I think it’s great.
Animation. To say she's good here is to say nothing. She's beautiful! Here everything is painted in detail and beautifully: characters, nature, scenery, interiors; that the cartoon reminds me of paintings by Italian Renaissance artists. Of the most beautiful I would note the panorama of the forest when Belle sings about Gaston and especially the famous, legendary scene of Belle and the Beast. How beautiful it is, and not only because the characters and the palace are painted beautifully, but also due to the fact that the camera moves around the characters and this creates even the greatness of the cartoon. In general, when you watch such cartoons as "Beauty and the Beast" you understand how much animation is a powerful weapon that in the right hands can turn the ideals of beauty in the human mind.
Characters. Here they are all good. Belle - beautiful, cute, cute and smart girl. That she's beautiful is no exaggeration. By the way, I love how the animators decided to emphasize her "personality" - she is the only one who wears a blue dress, which sets her apart from the gray city. And yes, in a yellow ballroom dress, she's gorgeous too. It was with Belle that Disney began to modernize their princesses, making them more independent. Princesses of the previous generation (Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel) had one goal in life - to find a Prince Charming. Belle is not like this: she likes to read, not to get married, and wants to find something brighter in this life than babysitting Gaston’s children. And this is a good change, without strained feminism.
Gaston - a local antagonist; a narcissist with an extreme stage of PHE who wants to marry Belle. It's funny, as a kid, I just hated him and wanted to kill him, and now I think he's more funny because of his peacock pomp. Although Gaston does not want to conquer the world or destroy anyone, he is still dangerous because of his intentions with the Beast. In the end, he turns into an outspoken maniac, and you want to punish him. By the way, Gaston’s appearance was written off with Brom Bonn from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949), but in turn, I am sure, Gaston served as the prototype for Cronk from The Apparitions of the Emperor.
The monster. I must admit, he turned out really creepy and formidable (so the Beast from the remake on his background is just a kitten), but at heart he is kind. Also, it is impossible not to mention the magnificently painted and worked out all the inhabitants of the castle: Lumiere, Kongsworth, Mrs. Pots, Chip, etc. They're all good.
Plot. As a child, watching this cartoon, I considered it, not jokingly, scary. There is a scene of the wolves attacking Belle; the Beasts fighting with them; the battle at the palace; the final battle in the pouring rain; and even hints of death. Years later, I find the cartoon still creepy in some places and that's a good thing! This cartoon is much more interesting to watch than the fairy tale of the ideal princess and prince.
Most importantly, “Beauty and the Beast” is a fun, good-natured and extremely exciting cartoon. It combines melodramatic beauty due to excellent animation and genuine Gothic horror due to those very scary scenes. Again, the battle in the castle is beautiful, and the transformation moment is one of the saddest and most magnificent scenes in animation I have seen. The ending is perceived as really the end of a beautiful fairy tale (you do not even want to notice that the dance scene is copied from the dance of Aurora and Prince from Sleeping Beauty).
Music. Disney cartoons are famous for their chic songs. However, past cartoons (Cinderella, Snow White, The Jungle Book, Pinocchio, etc.) usually had one or two central songs that were memorable. During the era of stagnation (1970-1989), Disney forgot about beautiful songs. But the Renaissance revived the tradition of magnificent musical accompaniment.
“Beauty and the Beast” doesn’t have one good song because they’re all great! Not just songs, but even tunes like Transformation are wonderful. And here you want to listen to everything: the song Belle at the beginning, the song Gaston, Madame Gaston, You are our guest, the song Miss Pots. I would like to thank the composer Alan Mencken. Not for nothing, “Beauty and the Beast” was even adapted into a Broadway musical.
Conclusion. I will say that all Disney cartoons are good in their own way. But if Walt Disney created a classic (Cinderella, Snow White, etc.) then at the Disney Renaissance created true masterpieces (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, the Lion King, Mulan, etc. ) which elevated the Disney Studio on the world Olympus, so that other studios began to imitate them. And if “The Little Mermaid” in 1989. launched the Disney Renaissance, it was “Beauty and the Beast” that dispersed it to its fullest.
“Beauty and the Beast” is an excellent, masterpiece, beautiful, instructive, kind cartoon that will never become obsolete. Which in 30 or 100 years will still look like the first time. This cartoon clearly shows the power of animation and the power of talent, for which we thank directors Gary Truzdale and Kirk Wise.

P.S. Reviewing the cartoon, you even more understand what a wretched remake of 2017 on its background.
I want to tell you about one of my favorite Disney cartoons. “Beauty and the Beast” can be safely attributed to the best representatives of the animated classics. This cartoon, in my opinion, is worth watching not only every child, but every adult. He will teach children the right values of life and moral guidelines, and adults will be reminded that in this world the main thing.
The cartoon places the right emphasis on the importance of maintaining a good attitude to the world and people, on how important it is to see the inner beauty of a person, and not only on the possible contrast with appearance, but also through the barbed wall that this person builds, with which he fences himself off from the world, having already once been severely burned on something. The cartoon teaches that a person who initially produces a strictly defined impression may well turn out to be quite different from what he seemed before.
“Beauty and the Beast” is a unique combination of a beautiful fairy tale and deep meaning. It has everything: the opposition of good to evil, meanness and selfishness to compassion and selflessness; the value of family; the pain of loss; and, of course, the love that can conquer any circumstance. All the plot twists are very vital. After all, sometimes doing good and pitying a person, you can get a knife in the back from him. The main thing is not to turn into a monster and keep a good heart and faith in people.
The cartoon turned out to be very strong, wise and kind – in my opinion, a real masterpiece of Disney production. The modern version with Emma Watson did not watch, despite her sincere love for this story and the actress herself. It may be good, but the cartoons of those years will always be the best for me.
There was a very keen desire to see “Beauty and the Beast” from the so-called “Disney classics” (by the way, stop counting “Anastasia” here – the Internet is, you can finally Google that Disney has nothing to do with it). My favorite is the Lion King.
There. From the first shots, I realized that I had watched this cartoon for a long time (or, alternatively, I have a very bad memory). No, I remember what he was talking about, but the angles and all sorts of nuances of dialogue are not complete. Not that there was something to remember. .
Fine, though. This is still a children's cartoon for children (although I appreciated a couple of moments "for adults" from Kloxworth and Lumière). But I still have the impression that the children in this case will be as perplexed as Chip. As an adult, I only see holes in the story. It is clear that no one will do the cartoon for three hours and there is no flush in this, but everything is some scrappy, unfinished, jumping back and forth. But maybe that's my old age.
I don't know if it's good or bad, but Belle taught me how to read on the go, which is very useful to me, because I'm always late and never have time. How safe is it? Not really, but that’s another story.
Belle (and her story—importantly—has always been a favorite of Disney princesses. Maybe because she's, like, normal? With birds does not wake up, deer in the forest do not follow her in herds. There is no such thing as unnecessary drama. More precisely, there is, but belongs not to the heroine, but to the hero - the Beast / Prince and other inhabitants of the enchanted castle.
At the same time, she is not “strong and independent”, but quite dreams of the same princes, but also of adventures. That is, there is no such keen desire to “prince.” Perhaps that is why no fairy godmother is in a hurry to help her and no witch is trying to poison her.
I also remember her yellow dress. Not so, with a hint of gold and expensive-rich, namely yellow.
And the biggest childhood (and not so much) disappointment is, of course, the design of the prince's character in his human form. Somehow it does not fit his image of the Beast and man (except for the eyes, but it was designed).
I am very happy because I love musicals in all their forms. And Disney cartoons, no matter how sinister this corporation was and no matter what “evil messaging” it coded in its tapes.

Every time I watch Beauty and the Beast, it’s like the first time I see it. Every piece, every scene, every dialogue, every frame. The amazingly beautiful story of Love that left a deep trace in my heart.
I remember when I was a little girl and had just had the flu, they brought me a new tape with the Disney cartoon Beauty and the Beast. It was a real cassette from the 90s with a single-voice translation, through which you could easily hear the original voices of the characters. This fact, of course, did not prevent you from getting great pleasure from watching your favorite cartoons. From that first view, I literally fell in love with this beautiful story.
From the first shots, from the first notes, we plunge into the magical and mysterious atmosphere of this fairy tale. Charming and exciting and so beautiful, the main musical theme does not leave the viewer indifferent. Here, without exception, all musical compositions and songs are in place and serve for the harmonious disclosure of images and the development of the plot. Music, like the story itself, is beautiful and mysterious, it subtly expresses all the feelings and emotions that the heroes and we experience with them: anxiety, despair, sometimes fear, surprise, joy, repentance, love and hope.
The creators managed to come up with a convincing reality, where in amazing harmony combine this word, technical progress on the one hand and witches, turning Princes into monsters, on the other. While the action takes place in a French town of the 18th century as a curtsey towards the creator of the textbook version of the fairy tale Jeanne-Marie Leprence de Beaumont.
Another interesting innovative feature is that the key characters are devoid of any magical abilities, but this does not make the story any less magical. All magic is limited, albeit powerful, contributing to the construction of the main conflict, but a single spell. And this proves even more that Love is the main miracle and it is capable of doing real miracles!
A miracle awaits Belle, the daughter of the eccentric good-natured inventor Maurice. She is not a princess from birth, Belle is a simple girl, her image is so close and understandable. Belle is a heroine worthy of imitation: she loves to read, lively, inquisitive, bold, with a developed imagination. The world is not limited to her hometown, Belle craves adventure. And soon her dreams will come true.
Miracles await the inhabitants of the enchanted castle together with their Master. At first glance, “He’s not a prince, but he’s not.” Yes, on the outside he is the Beast, but who is hiding under this guise: a desperate man who has realized the depth of his mistakes and repented of them, or perhaps even a beautiful Prince? This is what we have to do with Belle.
In the birth of the antagonist is a local favorite hunter Gaston and limited residents of the town. At first it seems that Gaston is just a smug boaster, but later we see that he is capable of meanness, meanness and deceit for the sake of achieving his goals. Perhaps the real monster here is him?
For mood and optimism answer enchanted objects: radiant Lumière, pedantic Cogsworth, soulful Miss Potts, cute Chip, flirty Fife, charming Cabinet.
The cartoon reminds us that Love ennobles a person, can make him better and even turn the Beast into a Prince. How I love the poignant moment in the finale when Belle recognizes Him by his eyes!
Now, as an adult, while watching, I feel like a little enthusiastic girl, sincerely believing that somewhere far, far away in the forest there is a castle with enchanted inhabitants and a Prince who must be cracked until the last petal falls from the magical Rose.
A great love story or touching cartoon, tears in the eyes
Musical, fairy tale. One of Disney’s two masterpiece cartoons of the 90s (the other is certainly The Lion King), and one of my favorites as a child, adolescence, adolescence, and probably old age. Why suddenly I decided to tell you about it – yes, it’s simple, I want to properly blow the Evil Corporation to the bricks, but before that, I need to say something good for their past cartoons. Here is a brief opinion about this masterpiece - a touching story, to tears in the eyes. I will not disassemble the disadvantages here, since they simply do not exist (if you say otherwise - you are radishes!). So let's focus on the merits of this masterpiece.
So here they are:
1. I am a fan of classical animation, I grew up on cartoons, both domestic and foreign, which are made with the help of this animation. I love her immensely! And that love is mutual. Three-dimensional animation I take for granted, but nothing more. You can call me a snob and a conservative for that, I don't care.
2. Characters are types beaten to a fool, but how gorgeous they look here, and most importantly - in the theme, because this is a fairy tale, a classic fairy tale! Each character is beautiful in its own way, and each, even the most distant in the background, is understandable. Disney here even specially and do that did not have anything - they just competently, and with care transferred the fairy tale to the screen, and for this they are very grateful!
3. Music – here I mean not only wonderful songs, but also musical accompaniment in general, because the music here is almost inseparable from the video. Not only have the songs turned out, so some can even let a tear (yes, and I let, and I am not afraid to admit it). What a great theme! You can listen to it just endlessly, and go to the clouds, to meet dreams.
4. Humor is amazing, but there are also jokes, and even more! Although not very much, each is good in its own way. Children and adults will laugh from the heart.
5. The voiceover is a voiceover, as I watched the original English version. Actors literally got used to their heroes. It feels that neither experience the same emotions as the characters, and try to convey this to the audience as much as possible. My bow!
A bit about the main characters:
1. Belle is a sweet and kind book-loving girl who gets into an unpleasant situation, but she awakens in her the same feeling that is known to everyone (well, almost everyone). Unfortunately, this image is no longer in the “trend” so to speak, and it is a pity. For the sake of such a girl, I would be able to accomplish feats that Hercules did not dream of. We, men, should fight for such beauties with a sensual heart and a pure soul!
2. The monster is terrible on his face, but kind inside. You all know his story well. A quick-tempered, dangerous, but touching owner of the castle, who himself caused trouble. He is noble and courageous. This is what this character catches, and it is simply impossible for him not to empathize, even knowing that he himself is to blame for his misadventures.
3. Gaston is a famous hunter who seeks Belle’s hand. Pretty, very narcissistic and cruel. An extremely unpleasant character and a strong opponent in the fight. The character from the very first appearance repels the viewer, and rightly so. It represents the qualities that are better not to acquire.
And of course, just a sea of secondary characters, which you can talk about, but time does not allow. Well, the moral conclusions, as always, Disney has.
As a result, we have just a masterpiece cartoon about the beautiful Belle and the Beast, who were able to overcome all adversity and find well-deserved happiness. All this under great music, magical songs and beautiful animation.

In the enchanted castle lives a terrible monster. Here comes a young and beautiful girl Belle. Only she can return the inhabitants of the castle to human appearance, if she loves the Beast as it is.
The best interpretation of the famous plot of the fairy tale of the same name by Jeanne-Marie Leprence de Beaumont. In my opinion, this is one of the best love stories I’ve seen on the screen (in cartoons so accurate). And in the image of Belle, I was in love as a child (I was in love with an animated character!!! thank God, over the years everything has changed, wow!). The cartoon pleases with bright colors plus the atmosphere of old France of the 18th century.
The relationship between Belle and the Beast is perfectly and completely worldly. Gaston turned out to be a good antagonist, a narcissist who wants to get Belle at all costs. At the same time still manipulating the crowd to go to storm the castle of the Beast. Belle here is not an ordinary Disney princess, but a completely independent and dreamy personality who loves to read. The Beast has a very bad character. Finding a common language between the two is not easy. Well, as always, Disney secondary comic characters pretty much animate the action. My favorite cup here is Chip.
The cartoon was a huge success and became the first animated film nominated for an Oscar in the category of best film. Naturally, he spawned very mediocre sequels, and in 2017, a game remake with Emma Watson and Dan Stevens was released, which earned a huge success at the box office, collecting more than a billion dollars.
For me, this cartoon remains the most beloved since childhood among Disney after “Aladdin”.

“If you want to love me, love my shadow.” V. Butusov
Briefly: Significant. Everyone chooses what meaning they like best.
Details: What only reviews I have not read on this simple children's cartoon, based on a simple children's fairy tale! People competed in search of a deeper meaning that no one had noticed before them, simultaneously emphasizing their own psychological characteristics. So, from an interesting one, it was discovered that “Beauty and the Beast” is, it turns out, a cartoon about:
- propaganda of zoophilia (as the monster appears in the image of the beast, when the beauty falls in love with him);
- propaganda of hatred for motherhood and motherhood in general (for the only child in the castle is the son of a maid)
Encouraging young girls to be kept and live with rich and nasty men (as the monster lives in a beautiful castle instead of living in a dirty shack).
I thought that if a cartoon provokes such a polemical reaction, then perhaps it is really not bad. As a result, I found my own deep meanings.
So, first of all, the cartoon is about love. Its foundation reaches back to the time when love was a panacea. It healed the soul, warmed the heart, made a person better and kinder, changed his life priorities and goals. Love lived as a completely independent quantity, obeying no laws but its own. Many of us grew up, but brought into the heart just such an idea of love, and even if it does not exist in this form, but a fairy tale for children is a fairy tale in order to convey concentrated truths to small spectators in a simplified version.
Secondly, even Carl Jung, dissecting the composite human personality, singled out a hidden essence in it, which he called the Shadow archetype. The shadow is the part of the personality that it tries not to realize and hides from the outside world. A person would give anything in the world to make sure that this part does not exist, but it exists and can manifest itself in the most unexpected moments. Now, the Beast is such a Shadow. And if a person can love you in your shadowy, worst manifestations, he will love you with light. After all, love is, first of all, about accepting a person as he is, completely and without residue.
And now to the minuses. I see a third, not quite pleasant, layer of semantics. In fact, the beauty falls in love with a monster in conditions where she has few choices. First of all, she cannot leave of her own free will, so, according to the classical flexible female character, she begins to adapt to circumstances. Secondly, the monster behaves according to the principle of “first do bad, then return as it was”, that is, first frightens the heroine and demonstrates himself to be terrible, and then gradually becomes cute and amiable, which in conditions of impossibility of choice for the heroine begins to seem an exceptional virtue, and not just a normal line of behavior. In short, the shown “love” reminds me too much of the manifestation of the Stockholm syndrome, when the victim, who is forcibly held, begins to sympathize with the perpetrator, justify his actions and even take his side. Moreover, everyone around her pushes her to such decisions in every possible way, pursuing her own selfish interests.
Nevertheless, the child’s psyche perceives everything differently – less critical, but also more simply, without burying in depth. So I hope that most kids see in this cartoon what they should have seen - the story of a dream girl who sought adventure and found, and a prince who re-educated with love.

Quotes:
I let her go. - Why? Because I love her.
It's not normal for a woman to read. Soon she will have ideas and start thinking!
Good songs, beautiful pictures, but my God, what characters! From watching this cartoon, hair stands on end when trying to understand the idea and goals of the characters. Let's start with the monster: Who is he? Prince? If he is a prince, he must have a kingdom he governs or a father to do so in his place. But there's nothing left to say. He's just rich and has a castle. How hard he got this castle is also not completely clear. Before he was a monster, he didn't love anyone... um, okay. The question arises when he became like a straight-walking bison, what did he lose besides his beauty? He seems to have gained great physical strength. Is that a monster? The hunchback from Noterdam is more of a monster, and a talking bison who also dances is not a monster!
Next we have Belle. At first, the character is interesting. The character is kind, says that he reads books, sings songs and is beautiful. But that's not the problem, why when she sings songs about how life is not for her and she dreams of other beautiful places, at the beginning of the cartoon all the other characters around her work. Do you know who she is working for, or just reading books? It seems that their kind refers, as it were, to the “peasant” who survive only by working with their hands. Then comes the question of her love of reading when she finds herself in the castle. There is a scene where the character of the "candle" leads her to the library but she instead of going into it, her defeated curiosity and she goes into the personal room of the monster, "forbidden" interesting knowledge or what? Yeah. Well, what is her love for the monster based on? Because he beat the wolves or has a castle? She's a woman who loves a dancing bison? It seems that if he had not become a prince, she would not have left. The castle, there, talking snowstorms and kettles are cooking and taking care of the house - what else does she need? I really didn't understand why she fell in love with the beast and not Gastal. Who's Gastal? And Gastal is the only bright spot in this “children’s” work.
Gastal is a hunter who is not used to hard work, it is clear from his developed muscles. He's narcissistic, so what? He's going too far to conquer Belle. But it is possible to distinguish his ingenuity and leadership qualities, and ardent disposition characteristic of normal men. I really don't understand why Belli was indifferent to him. Because he's relatively poor like her? But really girls fall in love with a “fool” in male qualities, not a “castle”. Only calculating "containers" will struggle with their feelings to get what they are supposed to read.
My God, please answer my questions.
1. Why does this movie have such a high rating? I love "The Lion King" and "Aladdin" and I understand the beautiful Disney cartoons.
2. If this movie is so immoral, why does it have such a low age rating? By what parameters does this film assign an age rating? Songs and drawings for children? After all, the future generation is growing up on such a film. And when will they grow up to watch the future instructions for the use of “Buy Me”, 2017?

Among the many famous fairy tales, there is one that everyone knows. “Beauty and the Beast”, a wonderful romantic story, knows no boundaries, captures our imagination and invariably amazes for centuries. As you know, in the world there are many variations of the famous fairy tale, each of which has its own unique features. As usual, Beauty and the Beast is published as a supplement to the collections of stories by Charles Perrault, being edited by various authors, framing the famous plot with charming extensions. The very first edition of “Beauty and the Beast” was published in 1740 by the efforts of Gabriel-Suzanne Barbeau de Villeneuve, but it is worth admitting that its story did not receive such wide popularity as the editorial office of Jeanne-Marie Leprence de Beaumont, which appeared in print eight years later. Beaumont partially shortened the extensive story, cutting the line of backstory of the main characters in order to bring a greater share of mystery to the tale, revealed during the main action, and not before it. Subsequently, “Beauty and the Beast” was reimagined by other authors from other countries, but it was Beaumont’s version that became canonical, a kind of mythology was built around it, which eventually attracted the Walt Disney studio, who decided to put a full-length drawn animation with the involvement of the best specialists available.
In the history of Disney there were many peaks and falls, and despite the fact that some projects of the studio received crushing criticism, aggravated by poor box office figures, the creators of the studio time and again managed to raise their native company from the knees thanks to the production of a guaranteed hit that can cover most of the debts and other production problems. The end of the 80s of the last century was not a failure for the studio, and even vice versa, after the release of The Little Mermaid, Disney was at the peak of popularity, becoming a virtual monopoly of the entertainment industry for the whole family. The release of successful animated series, brilliant work in full measure and the sale of numerous themed toys put Walt Disney on the throne, but this did not mean that the leadership could rest on its laurels without worrying about the future. In addition, the creative heritage of the company was about to reach the mark of 30 feature films. And such a responsible anniversary could not fail to be marked by an exceptionally worthy animated film in the best traditions of such classic paintings as Cinderella or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Having screened almost all the famous fairy tales from “Pinocchio” to “Alice in Wonderland”, Disney finally took on the expected millions of “Beauty and the Beast”, a completely win-win option, which nevertheless was worth preparing for the premiere properly.
The plot of the fairy tale takes place several hundred years ago and introduces us to Belle, a sweet village girl who lives with her father-inventor Maurice in a workshop house. Rejoicing at every happy little thing that opened the day, Belle enjoyed life and did not think what trials would prepare her sinister providence. And it took and dealt a merciless blow to the girl. Going on a long trip on business, Father Belle becomes the victim of a pack of stray wolves, miraculously avoiding death. Wandering between the hopeless thicket, Maurice stumbles upon the forbidden castle and from despair decides to look into it, which becomes a mistake that is not so easy to fix. Seeing an uninvited guest in his monastery, the owner of the castle, the monster, is not going to let Maurice go home, taking him hostage. And only by a miracle found the way to the forbidden places Belle was able to save his father from imprisonment for an eternity. However, in order for Maurice to return home, Belle must remain at the Beast Castle, thus acting as a perfect substitute. It seemed that the girl voluntarily put herself in a hopeless position, becoming either a victim or a slave, but it was she who would be destined to reveal all the secrets of the castle and influence the ancient curse that shackles all its inhabitants, including both innocent servants turned into objects of utensils, and the Beast himself, once bearing the appearance of a beautiful prince.
To sculpt from “Beauty and the Beast” animated film worthy of a high-profile anniversary, the producers of the studio were not afraid to change the principles, inviting two debutants, Gary Truzdale and Kirk Wise, to the post of director. Young directors, who previously did not have the opportunity to work with full-length animation, nevertheless liked the management of their attractive short films, which showed the presence of ingenuity and unique creative vision. And having received a confident script, corrected by the famous American writer Linda Woolverton, Truzdale and Wise felt the power to shoot a real masterpiece, and nothing else. Having thoroughly studied the famous fairy tale of Jeanne-Marie de Beaumont, the directors added a fair share of humor to it, worked out the characters and dialogues of the characters so that each of them had a clearly assigned place in the plot and did not fall out of the ensemble. I do not dispute that the general intrigue of the fairy tale can be guessed without problems and even a person who has never read Beauty and the Beast will easily determine what will happen in the finale, but not to see this story, not to feel its emotional content and dramatic colors, means committing a formal crime against himself. “Beauty and the Beast” envelops the viewer with warmth, romance, hot feelings and sharp adventures. There is good and evil, morality and edification. Yes, they are presented directly and do not portend special semantic games, and yet this cartoon managed to find a loophole in the hearts of both children and adults. That’s why 1991’s Beauty and the Beast was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Picture category. And although the cherished award went to another well-deserved work, Truzdale and Wise did everything necessary to make their cartoon not just go down in history, but become a standard adaptation of de Beaumont's fairy tale, which, I dare assume, will be impossible to surpass.
Separately, it is necessary to praise the efforts of composer Alan Menken. The maestro, who had previously framed the Little Mermaid with unforgettable melodies, managed to surpass himself. His work on “Beauty and the Beast” deserves exceptionally loud applause, because he like no other realized the true essence of the characters of the main characters, giving them much greater depth and meaning. The soundtrack for the cartoon is not less popular than the “Beauty and the Beast” themselves, and therefore it can be listened to even in isolation from the screen.
In conclusion, I want to say that Beauty and the Beast is an example of work, during which the creators focus not on cash potential, but on art. Gary Truzdale and Kirk Wise created a unique extravaganza, lighting in the hearts of lights that turn into flames. The story of a charming girl and a sad monster turned out to be incredibly rich, emotional, colorful and fascinating. The abundance of great jokes, the brilliant soundtrack of Alan Mencken and drawing, pleasing to the eye much more than modern computer graphics, elevated Beauty and the Beast to the highest animated rank. The cartoon does not age at all, its precepts will be relevant for many years, and I have no other options to avoid wishing you the most pleasant viewing.

- What would you do for her?
- Well, there are standard things: flowers, chocolate, vows that do not fulfill.
The thirtieth full-length animated film studio Walt Disney. This is my favorite cartoon studio since childhood. At one time, this video tape was viewed to the holes, and now it’s time to refresh your favorite story in memory.
Once upon a time, an ugly old woman knocked on the castle. The prince squeamishly refused to let her on the doorstep, and then she took her real form - a beautiful sorceress. As a punishment for arrogance, she turns the prince into a terrible monster, and casts a spell on the entire castle.
This is how this wonderful movie begins. A more open synopsis to write does not make sense, because there is hardly a person not familiar with this story. And if there are, it is better not to postpone acquaintance with the legendary plot, which has become one of the best in the history of the studio.
After reading the rest of the reviews, I realized that I would not say anything new. So just note the pros (cons I did not find) of the picture.
- Great plot. Disney is full of interesting stories, but this one stands a couple of goals above the rest. It's an incredibly exciting sight.
- It’s a beautiful painting that many (including myself) think is the best. The already classic style of animation as always pleases the eye
- Interesting, not like anyone characters. Many, such as Lumiere and Cogsworth, became in a way cultic, and were disassembled for quotes.
- And of course music. Incredible songs, beauty is not inferior to the Little Mermaid, the Lion King, Aladdin. The Oscars are not in vain.
I have long been planning to write a review of Beauty and the Beast. Partly because of the premiere of the feature film of the same name. But the reason rather lies in nostalgia. After all, as a child, this cartoon was one of my favorites. it was recorded on a cassette together with “Sleeping Beauty” with one-voice translation, but both of these cartoons I looked to the holes, learned every song by heart, still love their heroes with all my heart. "Sleeping Beauty" I have already dedicated a review. It’s time to remember another favorite story of my childhood!
I don’t even know what I learned earlier: about the Disney cartoon Beauty and the Beast or about our fairy tale Scarlet Flower? It was only in my student years that I learned about so-called wandering stories. And it is safe to say that every nation in the world has a similar story. Disney treats it a little differently. The main character Belle seems to be the most ordinary girl. Despite the fact that the residents of the town where she lives with her father-inventor Maurice, consider her strange. It's because Belle likes to read. Her life changes when her father goes missing. Going in search of him, the girl finds a mysterious castle where the terrible Beast keeps her father in prison. To save her father, Belle agrees to become a prisoner of the Beast instead of her father. However, the more time the girl spends in the castle, the more she realizes that the monster, the castle and all its inhabitants are enchanted, but what can destroy these charms?
The cartoon is not for nothing considered one of the best creations of Disney. The fact that this is the first and (if I'm not mistaken) only cartoon nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture! And there is no doubt why he was worthy of all the laurels and honors. Firstly, this is a real and magical fairy tale with an instructive plot, charming characters, charming music and sparkling humor. History teaches us to be kinder to others, not to judge by appearance, and that it is never too late to fix ourselves. Something you need to know from an early age. It will be useful for children to see this cartoon.
Watching the development of the plot is incredibly exciting - there is a place for comedy and various humorous situations, and mass songs, and tense moments, and fantastic performances. I'll never forget that amazing number Be our guest!
The main characters were great. Belle means “beauty” in French, a young girl who loves to read and dreams of more than life in a provincial town. It's funny that because of books and dreams, a girl is considered strange. It’s not normal for a woman to read. Soon she'll have ideas and she'll start thinking..." has recently become very popular. And yet, Belle is the heroine who is not afraid to think differently, to get out of the crowd, to break out of the familiar world and go in search of adventure. Then we see that she is also a brave girl, selfless, ready to do anything to save the people she loves. A heroine worth looking up to.
The monster - initially appears as a terrible and evil owner of the castle. Bewitched by a sorceress, he can remain in this guise for life. At first you are afraid of him, but then when we see him in a different light - kind, sensitive, caring. The story of Belle and the Beast is one of the most unusual and soulful in the history of Disney.
From the first appearance, our hearts are won by the servants of the Beast Castle, who have been turned into a variety of interior items - a charming maître dôtel that has become a candlestick, Lumiere, a nervous butler Klogsworth, turned into a watch, a sweet and caring housewife Mrs. Potts, turned into a teapot, and her charming son-cup Chip. They appear in almost every scene of the film with the main characters, helping them all possible. It would seem that objects can become so alive. But it was a hundredfold. Admit it, Lumière also won you over, charmed Chip and cheered Klogsworth? Great heroes!
There's room for antagonists. Here he turns out to be a brutal hunter, who dreams of marrying Belle. At first, he seems too pompous and complacent, even comical. Especially in a duet with his small henchman Lefu. But then Gaston becomes a real villain. But still, his signature Gaston song is fantastic!
Speaking of music, I can only admire the soundtrack of Alan Mencken, who has repeatedly written truly amazing songs for Disney cartoons. Beauty and the Beast is no exception. These are musical compositions Prologue, gloomy West Wing, and songs known throughout the world: the opening Belle, enchanting Be Our Guest, and enchanting Beauty and the Beast...
I don’t think I’m wrong when I say it’s a movie for all time. It was the golden era of Disney. Beauty and the Beast is undoubtedly one of his masterpieces. I love this movie as much as I loved it as a child. Maybe even more. Without hesitation
I watched the movie Beauty and the Beast, came home and immediately watched the cartoon. Of course he's a hundred times better! Not that it’s my favorite movie in the world, but it’s one of them. There are flaws in him, but his virtues cover them all.
I'll start with the heroine. Bel, for me, that's a major flaw. She carries herself above others, she is perfect, intelligent, beautiful, interesting, she does not want to be in the crowd and devote herself to everyday cares, she wants the sublime and beautiful, however, she lives in the same village, cooks, cleans, feeds livestock. In short, what distinguishes her from the rest is the desire to read and say that she is not like that. As for her adventures, I wonder if she would have fallen in love with the Beast if he had not been a prince and lived outside the palace. I have doubts about something.
But, as I said, the minus in the form of the narcissistic main character, completely pay off charming pieces of furniture, the entourage of an old abandoned castle and magnificent songs and music. Lumiere, Kloxworth and all the other inhabitants are so wonderful that it seems that they are the main characters. Well, how not to say about the chic antagonist Gaston! He's great, especially his original bass voice!
This is a beautiful, touching tale of love, extremely beautiful, sometimes a little stupid, but bringing pleasure to every viewing. I think it will never get old and at the mention of “Beauty and the Beast” everyone will remember about this picture, and not the dull spectacle that is now going on in theaters.
Oh, good Disney classic! Amazingly colorful cartoon. It will never get old or tired.
What could be sweeter than the Beast learning to eat with cutlery? What could be more terrible than his roaring all over the castle? How can furniture make you laugh to tears? How many exciting, enchanting, disturbing, funny and happy moments the film 1991 gave and gives to the audience, filling their home with delight.
Beauty and the Beast is a tale of courage, perseverance, love and rethinking your actions. In the cartoon there is a brave and independent girl Belle, who loves the book. There's a sneaky narcissist Gaston. Good-natured and stupid father. And then there's the Beast, a highly controversial and complex character who has been causing heated debate lately because of his character. He is always irritated, sullen, withdrawn, but a meeting with Belle, with her positive attitude to the world, and in general with a piece of the outside world, which the girl brought to the dense castle, changes the Beast for the better, and then helps to heal.
The message of the cartoon is simple: love will turn a monster into a man. There is a lot to argue about, but before us is a fairy tale where good and magic rule. Sometimes it is necessary to plunge into this atmosphere in which good conquers evil.
Despite the magic and love, the most memorable in the picture were, probably, many viewers enchanted residents of the palace - a serious alarm clock, a refined candlestick, a caring Madame teapot and a barking foot mat. Without them, the palace was not as alive and wonderful as it is.
In short, an amazing cartoon.
The story of how a marginalized woman with an inferiority complex does not miss her chance in life and finds a rich husband, even stranger than she.
And continue:
The main character clearly has a penchant for zoophilia and a passionate desire to somehow compensate for their complexes, schizophrenia is possible due to lack of communication with ordinary people. So she refuses the first guy in the village, successfully finds the much-desired adventures on the fifth point, endangering not only her father, but the whole village. As usual, there were no human casualties, material losses cannot be counted. As a result, we have: a happy cell of society - 1 pc, a corpse - 1 pc, the number of wounded during the capture of the castle is unknown.
The only mystery is why there are only two horses in the village - one owned by Belle and his father, the second by Gaston. The rest of the residents for some reason move only on their own two.
The theme of the instant repair of the palace after a miraculous transformation also confirms the theory of Belle’s severe mental state, as well as why the servants (aka pieces of furniture in the heroine’s sick consciousness, which seems to hint at her self-determination in the social ladder) did not grow old during all this time: a cup of chip turns into a very small boy, but it should have been at least 10 years since the “transformation”!
Perhaps everything that happens, like in the movie "Island of the Damned" - pre-planned to try to cure the unfortunate and try to bring her back to the real world. Then in a fairy tale, and in fact in a real psychological drama, you can see a kind of happy end - the girl finally begins to see things as they really are.
And seriously, the film is a real classic of animation, a wonderful work of animators, screenwriters, composers. A beautiful plot and a very colorful picture, the cartoon is interesting to watch both children and adults even now, after so many years since the release of the rental.

Everyone looks at love, relationships, friendship, as well as the dignity of people in their own way. We often chase the beauty of the visual, which consists in appearance, loud deeds, gold. Is this something you should appreciate in life?
Jeanne-Marie Leprence de Beaumont, writing Beauty and the Beast, created a story with a stunning message that covers different life issues, shows the contrast between different characters, shows the consequences of those actions that are arrogant, mean, black and naturally stupid.
The plot is based on opposition. Different actions and goals are compared and evaluated. We will be able to see the confrontation of modesty and arrogance, the battle of appearance and inner peace, the battle of light and darkness. And this will not be presented by a naive interpretation, but by a competent narrative, for we can find this constant confirmation in life.
High-quality animation should be noted, because this is extremely important here. It is very interesting to observe the transformation of the characters, their behavior, facial expressions, gestures. Stunning music contributes to the coloring of this work.
Why do we love our mother? For actions for us, for sacrifices for us, for the time that was given to us with love. Why do we respect our father? For loyalty to your mother, for loyalty to your family, for loyalty to yourself. So why should you love, appreciate and respect a person? For a beautiful suit, an attractive face, a pumped body and a lot of money? Or for nobility, honor and kindness? People should look for light, not uniforms, jackets, cars and houses. You should look for pure love, which will not be diluted by appearance and material condition. Permanence must be sought, for it alone determines man. If a person left his family for life, then no one will need his care. Same with a friend. If they wipe our feet about us, do not notice, do not appreciate, do not respect our feelings, and we give our soul to a person, taking care of him in a friendly way, then listen to all sorts of heroic shouts, of course, no longer much and want. And it's not about forgiveness. It's easy to forgive. And then what? Nothing more, nothing more. Of course, returning to the past will be difficult. It is also with love, for it is not born of itself, true love is created. Trust, respect and respect are also built.
This magnificent animated canvas gives the viewer the right morality from the very first scene, from the very first minute. There are so many right thoughts, right actions and the right view of love and life that it is impossible not to call it a masterpiece. This is a stunningly clean, incredibly bright and very accurate work that teaches competent moral values.
"It's only in fairy tales!" you say. Be the one who writes this story in life. See for yourself, show your children.
What can I say? Most likely, I will accumulate thousands of words delighting this masterpiece, but I will try to put my soul as best as possible and not too much.
Beauty and the Beast is one of the best Disney movies for me personally. Since I grew up on the cartoons of this magnificent company, I can say now in the language of a devoted Disney fan, but I do want to reveal all my emotions exclusively on this cartoon.
I wouldn’t even rush to call it a cartoon, for me almost all cartoons of this company are more than just cartoons. ..and especially Beauty and the Beast! Since emotions are pouring over the edge, without any shame or something like that, I confess that as a child I wept over him, and now without tears it is impossible to look. In it, the deepest, and at the same time, very ancient meaning is so overwhelming that words can not even describe it.
Of the pluses, I will list the obvious, but still extremely important things - magnificent and, most importantly, live animation of the characters; the most beautiful and colorful drawing of both the heroes and the whole world; inimitable and, simply, touching to the depths of the soul, the music and songs of the Great Alan Mencken; and of course, a deep-thinking, ancient, like life, a fairy tale story - The Girl and the Prince. To be more precise, Beauty and the Beast!

Love has a sense of humor. Although, sometimes it is simply impossible to understand all the subtleties. This is what makes love and humor so similar. The first and second are often on the edge. You walk a little harder and immediately fall down the cliff. Therefore, few understand how the beautiful Belle gave her heart to the terrible and evil Monster. But the answer is simple. You don't have to get on a plane and fly half the world. You know, it's easier. You don't even have to leave the house. To love, you need a heart. And that's what Belle did. She was interested in neither wealth nor other people's opinions, nor generally accepted rules. The main character was looking for happiness, looking for a kindred soul. Never mind that the search led to a strange enchanted castle in the company of enchanted people.
“He’s not Prince Charming, but there’s something about him that I haven’t noticed before.”
Thanks to the cartoon, once again convinced that the voice Celine Dion, really beautiful. The song "Beauty and the Beast" became a landmark and not for nothing won the award. It's worth a lot more. The dance Monsters and Belle is fascinating. And frankly, when I saw it, I knew I had been waiting for it all along. I couldn't do without him. It's like the ultimate proof of love. The curse will soon fall.
What would you do for her...
- Well, there are standard things: flowers, chocolate, vows that do not fulfill.
Lumiere and Cogsworth always quarrel, but to hide the true friendship still fails. The first exudes gallantry and charm. The second is a lot of smarts and... A little harmful, which, however, does not prevent to support the main character. The rest of the characters in the castle also fit perfectly into the story.
It is surprisingly difficult to find a similar masterpiece in cinema, where everything and everything is in its place. Every character, every melody, every frame, every action of a hero.
It's not normal for a woman to read. Soon she'll have ideas and start thinking.
Something worth paying special attention to. For example, how everyone turned against Belle and her father. What for? For being both smart? One is a brilliant scientist and inventor. No wonder his daughter loves to read books and has great intelligence. The main character is different not only this. She is self-sufficient, beautiful in soul. It would be absurd if such a girl suddenly married Gaston, brushed his boots every morning, and endured day after day the sheer imprudence, selfishness, and hypocrisy of her husband. But the main problem is that “strangeness” is understood differently by everyone. Unfortunately, most people call each other “weird” only because they meet someone on the way who is not like themselves.
Finally, I want to talk about love. She should be. It is necessary to love not for something, but against something. Belle teaches The Monster to love, and in return he opens to her a world in which she can live calmly. And it's not about the money. And... She also falls in love, which has never happened before. It's a love story. Extraordinary, a little crazy, but real.
How do you read it? There are no pictures here!
- Some people have imaginations.
The cartoon is based on the fairy tale of Jeanne-Marie Leprence de Beaumont “Beauty and the Beast” (La Belle et la Bete, 1757).
One of the most fabulous and heartfelt love stories that Disney has ever made. A fairy tale with a primitive plot, but so soulful and kind that it quickly gained the sympathy of children and adults, becoming one of the standards of the genre. The fairy tale is not new, but so colorfully and interestingly filmed that you can close your eyes to the primitiveness of the plot.
It’s been retold and changed so many times, but it’s never been as beautiful as Disney. Cartoon-musical, cartoon fairy tale and cartoon kindness. In the tape there are both positive and negative characters, you watch all of them with interest. All characters can be understood, even the negative Gaston.
It’s a movie we could have seen in our teens and even now. The story is very profound. All actions and events are accompanied by the beautiful music of Alan Menken, which is definitely a plus for fans of good music and soundtracks.
Computer technology, which was going to be used for scenes of fights on the roof and chases in the woods, because of its primitiveness was used only for ballroom scenes. And even for this scene, the creators had a backup strategy they call the Ice Capades version (this is when attention is focused on two characters on a black background).
Plus, without computer technology, the drawing and animation were great, and each scene had its own dynamism.
A brilliant cartoon that makes many girls dream and much they can learn from Belle, at least her kindness and honesty.
We can safely say that this story is one of the best at Disney, along with the Lion King and KO.
Review of "Briefly on the main"
When I first watched Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, I hated it. Strange, I know. It just so happened that every couple of minutes there was something I spit about. I hadn’t seen Frozen yet, so I didn’t love musicals or princess movies. It’s possible that I was overly biased, thinking, “Come on, the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, show me what you can do!” So in a sense, now that I'm older and better at girly stuff, I just had to give the film a second chance.
But first, let’s deal with the elephant in the room – the tie in the picture is simply freezing. Just think: on the door of the castle, where the prince lives (and do not even wonder where the parents, the king and the queen, or what they rule - still not say), knocks some old woman and asks to live, offering a rose. Rose, fuck me! Who wouldn't take her for crazy and send her away? She should be grateful that it was the prince who opened the door to her - as far as I know, servants usually do this.
However, the old woman turns out to be a sorceress, and she curses him with a beastly appearance, threatening that if he does not find mutual love before the age of 21, he will remain so forever. Wait, 21? What is the specific definition, where did it come from, on the age limit for the sale of alcoholic beverages in the United States? How old was he when the curse began? Judging by the image in the form of church stained glass at the beginning, he was already quite obese. At the same time, in the middle of the film, we learn from the conversation of the servants that the curse is already 10 years old. So the kid was 11 or younger then? This, I am sorry, is beyond my understanding of the world.
And to sum up the indignation, let me ask you one last question: Why should servants be punished? Especially so sophisticated, after all, we still need to think about turning people into everyday life. But not only people, even a dog was turned into a footrest. If anyone is to blame for a crazy witch finding a young man too narcissistic, it's the babysitter, and she was just doing her job. Just thinking about it makes my head hurt. I don't know how much of a source story there is. If a lot, then for some reason I do not care - this is by no means an excuse for all that obscurantism, which is saturated with the plot of the film.
Well, that's it, now it's good. It must be admitted that some of the things that I dug into when I got acquainted with the cartoon, when revised, turned out to be very far-fetched or completely sucked out of the finger. Seriously, I take my words back about the movie's hatred of mothers. After all, it wasn’t even invented by me, but by some paranoid Russian broadcast, I was just an impressionable teenager and repeated like a parrot. But I still believe that the film speaks positively about adultery, even though this statement is based only on a joke from one song. As you can guess, it says more about me than the movie itself.
Speaking of songs, they make a mixed impression. I wasn’t expecting it myself, but the song through which Belle and Prince are reconciled and romanticized is surprisingly good. It very briefly, clearly and clearly shows the attitude of both characters to what is happening. And that's beautiful. Also, Gaston's song, kind of a villain, is quite funny. Alas, with all this, most of the songs of the cartoon have two disadvantages: the melodies in them sometimes seem too similar and there are cases when their lyrics directly give out the subtext of what is happening. For example, when villagers go to the Monster Castle with pitchforks and torches, they sing that they are “afraid of what they do not understand.” With the same success, the authors could just go on stage with a megaphone and read the moral of the story, and throw all the animation into the trash. It will also be useful, but it will save them and us time. Strangely, in another successful Disney film, The Little Mermaid, composer Alan Mencken and songwriter Howard Ashman have no such problems, all the songs were different and there were no such problems with the lyrics. I don’t know which fly bit them while working on Beauty and the Beast.
About animation I still bent a little bit, because it is too good to throw out. I especially liked the way the Beast's face was animated - the person who worked on it clearly had a lot of fun. It is so lively and comic, but at the same time it can be and, as the appearance of the hero requires, formidable that you are amazed. Against the backdrop of such splendor, Belle even fades slightly, especially a couple of her too theatrical movements. Again, this character was copied with Sherry Stoner, who in the same way “played” the main role in “The Little Mermaid”, and there was no such problem.
It also does not help that sometimes the characters look slightly unnatural against the background of the backs, which makes their “two-dimensional” nature protrude more than necessary. Whether it’s not quite the right drawing of shadows or something else, but such a problem is generally unusual to see in high-budget Disney animation.
In the same way, I can still read Beauty and the Beast for a long time. If I praise one thing, something pops up that raises a couple of unnecessary questions. In general, half of the elements of the film I like, and the other not. Unfortunately, this balance does not speak in favor of the film. But in any case, now I treat the picture much better than before. Who knows how my opinion will change when it is revised again?

" The appearance is deceptive, because beauty is hidden inside.
'Beauty and the Beast' certainly one of Walt Disney's most colorful, kind and instructive cartoons. An interesting plot, permeated with warmth, compassion, fun, will hardly leave anyone indifferent. Also please funny characters, colorful images, music. Not without evildoers, tears and suffering.
Everything in order.
Plot
Pretty interesting.
Belle is a beautiful young girl who lives a very unusual life, according to others. He loves to read and dream. One day, going in search of her father-inventor, lost in the woods, she falls into the castle and stays there forever. Later he discovers that the castle is enchanted. Its owner is a terrible, cruel Beast that forced her to stay in the castle. However, getting to know him better, the beauty changes her mind. But will it help to break the spell imposed on him?
Characters
They're amazing. I want to emphasize that the secondary pleased no less than the main. Each image is certainly very necessary and correct. First of all, naturally, the main character attracts attention - "Bel" is a nice kind girl. Read and bold. Its beauty is just a complement to a lot of other positive qualities. She is ready to sacrifice herself for the sake of her father, which causes considerable respect from the viewer and surprise from the Monster. I don’t think there is anything unambiguous about this character. It is obvious that under the appearance of a cruel monster lies an offended and vulnerable soul. His brutal temper at the beginning of the picture eventually gives way to tolerance and obedience. Love awakens in his heart. This can not but rejoice faithful servants of the Beast – people who also fell the wrath of the sorceress, as a result of which they turned into furniture and other interior items (what a funny and extraordinary idea!). Separately, I would like to note Lumiere and Cogsworth. Disputes of the willful candlestick and the ever-grinding clock at times struck at laughing. Mrs. Potts and Chip no less important characters of this picture. These include Gaston, a self-confident, arrogant and very unpleasant type. Despite its attractive appearance and excellent physical characteristics, it is completely empty from the inside. Blindly wanting to marry Belle, he goes to the lowest acts. At the end of the cartoon, Gaston becomes one of the instigators of the main conflict, as is usually the case in films of this genre. However, he is not so bad in everything, for example, he threw a funny quote:
': Women can’t read, they start thinking! i>'
Drawing
Well, here we can safely say that animators tried to fame. The drawing is excellent, beautiful scenery, the city; in the right places - gloomy and cold. Especially pleased with the castle, so to speak 'Do' and 'After'. This transformation is really impressive. The characters are also thought out to the smallest detail. In general, the atmosphere combined with excellent musical accompaniment is conveyed in the best way.
Result
You know, this story isn't just about love and obstacles. It teaches you to look much wider, feel with your heart and be able to forgive. It inspires, it gives hope, and most importantly, it brings back childhood.
And let the stories of selfless and true love do not descend from the screens (because in life we seem to see little of it), but let’s not forget that this is a classic. Classics, as you know, are created for centuries. And for twenty-five years this animated film is an integral part of this classic.
The creators did a great job, special thanks to those who voiced.
Cartoon ' Beauty and the Beast' is one of the best creations of Disney. And here's why.
First of all, it is impossible not to mention the beautiful animation.
Secondly, it attracts an atmosphere of magic and mystery.
Thirdly, the images of the main characters.
Before us is an intelligent family - dreamer Belle and her father-inventor. They are contrasted with Gaston, hum and narcissist. And the Beast. The evolution of his image is very well traced throughout the cartoon. First it is a selfish, narcissistic prince, then an ugly creature that shuts itself off from the human world and terrifies the strangers. And finally, with the appearance of a cute girl, the Beast becomes a Man. He begins to experience feelings that he was previously incapable of. The image of the hero is not static, this is interesting.
Of the cons, I can single out Belle’s desire for travel and, as a result, life in a castle surrounded by woods. Why it was necessary to position this character as a well-read girl, I do not quite understand. She just loved to spend time reading fascinating novels and dreamed of a prince. However, this is purely a subjective perception of Belle. In general, I like the character.
Fourth, the cartoon 'Beauty and the Beast' is a wonderful tale of love, which many people have known since childhood. This is also a Disney classic.
So you can characterize the main character of this cartoon - the Beast!
This is my favorite cartoon as a child, and despite the fact that so many years have passed, of all the cartoons I revised, Beauty and the Beast remains for me the best of everything created by Disney.
The movie has a deep meaning! Initially, it begins with an instructive story about how a certain Witch, in the image of an elderly woman, asks for shelter from the Prince, but he is offended by her repulsive appearance drives away and then she turns into a beautiful Princess, but thereby teaches him a good lesson, turning him into a monster and casting a spell on the castle and on all its inhabitants. And the Prince, now the Beast, is doomed to the torment of waiting for the Beauty, who will be able to love him for his good heart, and not for his appearance.
The atmosphere in the cartoon, not every film can create and the characters, in turn, convey the drama of the situation with a force with which many real actors can not convey. Periodically reviewing it, I feel almost all the same emotions that I initially felt. I just get goosebumps every time I watch. I feel all the pain and despair that the Beast feels. His mind is completely shrouded in darkness, over the years spent alone and feeling hopeless, he has become unrestrained, flammable, unable to control his emotions, and the appearance of a “ray of hope”, in the image of Bell, initially does not make him softer. Accustomed to being feared and not dared to object to him, he believes he can force himself to love by force, but only his subsequent actions fall in love with Beauty. Bel is a dreamy nature, flying in the clouds and dreaming of something more than "this provincial life." “Not of this world,” the passers-by shouted at her. She lives in the world of fairy tales and when she comes, so to speak, “black stripe”, she does not change herself and her kindness awakens the Beast and causes a fire of love in his icy heart. But Gaston is a vivid example of the true ugliness, which is hidden inside him and hides behind the appearance that drives the small-minded women of the province crazy. He, despite his outward appeal, is rude and uncouth, which Bel's delicate and sensitive soul immediately senses, while the Beast, regardless of his repulsive appearance, remains noble inside, his whole walk screams that he is a true Prince, by the will of fate, caught in a difficult situation. This confrontation between the monster hiding inside and the external manifestation of ugliness is the central theme of the cartoon.
I consider Bel the most beautiful heroine of Disney cartoons, and the cartoon - the most heartfelt and instructive!
I recently found out that there is a second part, I don’t understand how I could miss it as a child, but I will definitely catch up and watch the second episode tomorrow.
The cartoon is actually great, and it will be appreciated by all connoisseurs of children's animation and children's fairy tales. The same can be said for most Disney cartoons made for the big screen. Unfortunately, only the first part of this cartoon turned out to be exemplary and deserved its high rating. The sequel, shot for release immediately on video, did not impress completely, unlike the video sequel "The Lion King", which showed a worthy continuation of everyone's favorite story. The first part of “Beauty and the Beast” in our time even received a conversion to the fashion format 3D, in which I was lucky to see it. It is worth noting that the conversion was not as high-quality as the Titanic and Jurassic Park, but it was still pleasant to watch. It is noticeable that all the beautiful views, height and range are drawn more voluminously. As for the plot, this is the absolute ideal of a fairy-tale movie. The plot we see is similar to the Soviet film "Scarlet Flower", and the graphics are amazing, despite the fact that now they have learned to draw even cooler. Two years ago, the masters of Disney animation pleased us with another chic cartoon "Frozen", shot absolutely in the same style as "Beauty and the Beast". Such cartoons can appeal to all children without exception, adults will also not hide their enthusiasm. He has already become a classic and has taken an honorable place in the series with “The Lion King”, “Shrek” and “Ice Age”. This is an animated film for everyone who knows how to appreciate the beautiful. This is a magical world that you and your child will happily immerse themselves in for more than an hour. Time will pass unnoticed under eloquent dialogues of heroes and soulful songs.
You ask, what can such a cartoon, shining with Oscar-winning graphics, teach? After all, we are all familiar with films and cartoons, which, with an abundance of special effects, do not carry any meaning. "Beauty and the Beast" successfully falls off this list of meaningless creations, and shows the story of a man who allowed himself meanness, for which he was punished in a mystical way, as well as a girl who becomes his prisoner, and she will either live her whole life in the power of a monster, or feel his inner world and love him, which can lead to a miracle (yes, he committed meanness, for which he was punished, but maybe he is not so bad?) The image of a rich ignorant who is stuffed into suitors for the main character is very similar to the images of the princes from Shrek 2 and 3 and Frozen, there were similar characters. Like all Disney cartoons, "Beauty and the Beast" is shot in the genre of a fantasy musical , all the characters sing here, but they do not overdo it with songs, as in the new "Les Miserables" with Hugh Jackman (although also a good film). "Beauty and the Beast" is a wonderful instructive story, pleasing not only with graphics. And, if you choose between two chic cartoons – “The Lion King” and “Beauty and the Beast”, then I choose the second, although “The Lion King” has also been viewed more than once.
10 out of 10
This cartoon is officially recognized as one of the best adaptations of the immortal fairy tale M-me Leprence de Beaumont, but it is very different in its plot from it.
In general, Disney cartoons very often contain some very funny supporting characters that are needed to add fun while watching. In "The Lion King" is Timon and Pumba, in "Mulan" Mushu and Quicki, in "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" - gargoyles, well, here ... A huge number of living things and dishes, and in this cartoon such auxiliary characters turned out best, especially two "best" friends - Lumiere candlesticks and Cogsword watches. The only thing that did not like - flirting Lumiere with a broomstick Fifi - it looked somewhat obscene, especially for a children's cartoon.
A lot can be said about the main characters as well. And if Belle is one of the nicest Disney princesses: smart, kind, but with a character and able to insist on their own, unlike the weak-willed Cinderella and immensely naive Snow White; then the Beast ... In the original fairy tale, he was never rude to Belle, roared and threatened to lock her in prison for the rest of his life - why was he made a completely different, albeit gradually changing for the better? To show that Belle's company will make a gentleman out of a beast? However, their mutual love, gradually maturing and reaching the strongest and most eternal, when one is ready to give for another life, is really shown very well, unlike the 2014 film.
The main negative character Gaston is also, perhaps, the most unconventional Disney villain, who, unlike the Beast, changes for the worse: at first he was just an uncouth village man-lover of beautiful girls (like those triplet dolls), and later became a real sadistic monster who imagined himself almost God. Of course, he did not have any love for Belle, such a person is not capable of loving at all, for him it was nothing more than another trophy that he intended to get at any cost.
But Father Belle perfectly resembled the Sultan of Aladdin who appeared later, both externally and in character: he was just as frivolous and trusting a fool, although very cute.
In general, for its time "Beauty and the Beast" is perfectly executed, and, despite some shortcomings, it is rightly considered a masterpiece of animation. The same people who considered it a parody of the lives of prisoners, etc., apparently have too perverse imagination, since a children's (!) cartoon evokes such unhealthy associations in them: as they say, who hurts. For me, this is a beautiful fairy tale of external and spiritual beauty will always remain this way.
One of the best movies and a beautiful story! I still sometimes listen to the song from this cartoon "a tale of love." This is a fairy tale that awakens even in adults a sense of magic, but it is fairy tales that are the concentrated wisdom of many, many generations. That is why watching such mudtfilms is not only pleasant, but also useful. The prince had everything he wanted, but he was spoiled, selfish, unkind. He rejected the beggar, because the rose seemed to him a funny gift, and to her appearance he felt squeamish. Then she turned him into a monster. I think the point is that at some point in our lives, we all become monsters — we want everything at once, and at the highest level. We don’t want to look, look, look. And even if we're given the advice that the true beauty is inside, we're still leaking it. At this point, a monster is born that is difficult to love. To do this, the monster will have to curb his temper and take risks, and more than once really spoil his skin. There will come a time when there is not even hope and that is when a miracle will happen.
Second, why did Bell reject Gaston? He is beautiful, he wants children, and he wants them to be happy. He is also willing to do anything to get a beautiful woman. Bribery, intrigue, blackmail, eventually the murder of a monster. He puts in a lot of effort, but what dictated it? He wants Belle because she rejects him and she's everyone's favorite. She's his trophy. The way of life he offers her does not suit her. She wants to be with the person she loves, she wants adventure, she hates the value system that Gaston has.
In the end, everyone will be happy.
“Beauty and the Beast” wasn’t seen until late last year. And I, like Aladdin and the Lion King, was absolutely thrilled! Colorful, fascinating, interesting, touching, with a dose of humor and just great songs cartoon - what else do you need? I just don't understand how you can not love this masterpiece. Maybe they don’t like the bad guys...
Pluses:
- First, the script itself. He's not brilliant, but he's very touching. And interesting.
- Animation. In my opinion, before the release of “Beauty and the Beast” at Disney, the animation was never so great.
- Musical accompaniment. The songs are beyond praise. And all the melodies do not leave us throughout the cartoon. They perfectly complement the plot moves.
- Also, you can bring a great atmosphere of the cartoon.
Minuses:
They're gone. They just don't exist.
You should watch Beauty and the Beast if you haven’t already. Preferably the whole family. The cartoon is not a bit outdated, unlike some old cartoons, and it looks as great as before. It was created in the best traditions of the studio.
