Oh, and these technologies. Yes, it is on the distrust of advanced technologies that herald the new millennium that the New Generation Special Forces are founded. Due to the strange translation of the title, it may feel like we are in front of an independent film, but this is a sequel to “Police of the Future”. The first part, in truth, ended quite logically, and questions clearly arose about the idea of continuing at the time.
Apparently, director Benny Chan acted on the principle of “further – more”, as the events of “Future Police 2” go on an international level. An acceptable move, although very primitive, but it was implemented more than decently. In the sequel, robotics appears, which looks rather ridiculous, but perfectly reflects the comedic component. The Match and the Alien are happy to return, although they are not immediately recognized, because they have changed, changing the style of clothing. Jack's place in the film is occupied by a new hero Edison, who also has his own antipode - computer hacker Kurt. The film pleasantly surprises with a better presentation of humor, which looks more appropriate here. Responsible for him for the most part alien, the curve of which looks genuinely funny. An innocent smile pops up on its own and in episodes of ridiculing technical equipment malfunctions is something anyone who has even caught the twenty-first century will understand. “Made in China” – this expression, which was heard in the film, we always characterize malfunctioning equipment, but “New Generation Special Forces” proves the insulting injustice of these words. After all, no one is immune from someone’s wrecking, especially if there is a group of conspirators behind the scenes.
However, not all sequel was able to surpass its predecessor. He can also be praised for his good acting, but there were less plot twists here, and they do not cause much surprise. It also lacks what I especially loved about the first film: the mutual assistance of the main characters and antagonists. Remember, for example, the strong scene in the first part, when Jack is saved by a dead criminal who recognized him as a man with an unblemished conscience? Unfortunately, there are no such moments in Spetsnaz, the division of characters into positive and negative is more clear here. Finally, there are obvious borrowings from some famous films in the sequel. For example, Kurt seemed to me very similar to Nedry from Jurassic Park. I am sure that many viewers who are well acquainted with Western film fiction of the 80s and 90s will find robots unoriginal.
Such subtleties, of course, reduce the value of the second part in comparison with the first. But although fewer topics are covered here, they are more revealed, and most importantly, it is felt that Benny Chan approached the sequel diligently, trying to use all opportunities to adequately continue the events of the Future Police. In comparison with the first part, you can identify some shortcomings, but you just want to ignore them and smile condescendingly, admitting that the film is still good. And it seems to me a huge injustice that the second part is not as popular as the first. Therefore, in the end, thanks to the joyful impressions, rounding up the assessment towards the highest, and I highly recommend Spetsnaz to everyone who has already seen the “Police of the Future”.
