You always know how to adjust to the situation, and I did not.
- You're a gloomy asshole and I'm not.
In the late seventies, early eighties, in America broke out a real boom on the subject, which in one way or another affected the Land of the Rising Sun. Ninjas and samurai were everywhere, but they often played the role of antagonists. In fact, what could be more dangerous for the protagonist than meeting people who were taught to kill since childhood? Especially here all these exotic types of weapons, be it the surekens, nunchaks and other sai. Not bypassed this phenomenon and the idol of millions (I think), the coolest hero of the militants (If you believe a couple of unreliable sources), a man with a million faces (And they are all carved out of granite), the famous Chuck Norris. Tremble the evil ninjas, Chuck is coming for you, ooh!
Plot? Oh, I don't even know what to tell you. There is an evil, despicable ninja organization that puts up ads in newspapers offering to join their movement. What are these guys doing? Murder, of course. And not some, but the murder of high-ranking people. Why would they? You know, they're terrorists. That explains everything, right? How not? Screenwriters think that’s enough, so take it for granted.
The hero of the story is one Scott James. Have you ever heard of this legendary man? How is he a karate master who has lost his title...because! That's right! Because. These two words explain everything in this film. So, the hero of Chuck Norris either contains a sports club, or is a coach, or a mascot of the club, the characters do not go into details, only Scott James, as it turns out later does not care about the club and there is nothing to keep him. Why did he spend years of his life on him? Because. Well, in order to dispel boredom and somehow move the plot forward, Scott sniffs at the ladies who manage to get into trouble, anger the “shadow warriors” in the world – ninjas and die suddenly. Well, the night of love doesn't break out on Chuck, so it's time to go kick some badasses. Why? No, not because. The thing is that the evil ninja is headed by the named brother of Scott James about what the latter tells the hero Lee Van Cliff that in this film will appear literally for ten minutes, despite the fact that the actor’s name is inscribed in large letters in the title of the film. Why invite a famous and talented actor to a role that turns out to be quite passable? It's the same thing, because.
Let’s throw away the irony and try to treat the film like a thrash. I say try, because I have no tongue to call what is happening an artistic product in which there is a beginning, a middle and an end. There's none of that here. In the film there is a million and one reference to the past of the hero Norris, but they lead to nothing and they are simply mentioned for no reason. In the film there is a lot of dialogue, but as soon as the characters begin to talk about something serious, so one scene is replaced by another half-word and in the next scene the characters again talk and... again a sharp change of scene. It seems that the writers simply could not make normal dialogues or did not want to, which is why such a catavasia occurs. Naturally, everyone suffers from this, including the actors, since about a dozen characters are involved in the film, but only Chuck Norris is important, the rest of the characters appear in the film spontaneously and also spontaneously disappear. Who, what, why, why? Who cares, because there is a wooden hero Chuck Norris, who kills everyone with one, maximum with two blows. The plot makes itself felt only from case to case, but with my heart I will say, if the film lasted fifteen minutes, it would be quite dynamic timekeeping, and so this is a sluggish film with dialogue that goes into milk and no acting. No, seriously, what do you expect from a movie with a stone face? No, of course there's a nice exception in Lee Van Cliff, but like I said, he's too small and he doesn't make the weather.
Outcome? Of course, you can say: “Hey, the movie of my childhood, which I saw in the video salon!” You can tell. I also saw this film in the video salon, but unlike the films with the same Schwarzenegger, Stallone, and what is there with the same Steven Seagal, films with Chuck Norris were written out according to one template - a famous karate player beats people, demonstrates a wooden acting game, while the directors / scriptwriters / producers of the film, do not even try to captivate the viewer, hoping that the hand-brain and pride of the leading actor will brighten all the annoying incidents of the film. And to give them credit, they are right in their belief. After all, the viewer, even after so many years, is ready to watch and watch films with Chuck Norris, which have no artistic value. Amazing and bizarre our world with you ...
