Awesome movie. The detective is a puzzle that can be compared to a mosaic. Different episodes act as puzzles, the place for assembly is our head, and if you collect them correctly, observing the order, you will get a quite adequate picture of what is happening, which the director of the film wanted to show us. “Lucky number Slevin” is one of the few films that easily stands out from the gray mass. Everything is perfect here, but a few facts I would like to highlight fat.
The first-dialogues. Oh, yeah, in this movie, they're just divine. Short "residues" words that are fun and make you think, is one of the factors that delivers a "high" from viewing. The second- the cast. In this movie, he's absolutely stunning. All the stars that can be collected, shoved into one film and did it so skillfully that such work can only be admired. Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Lucy Lew certainly have to play and do it at the top level. Third - plot Director Paul McGuigan and his team made a very unusual movie, which is interesting for its production. As I wrote above, this is a puzzle that you collect during the viewing, and at the end, we are given a ready-made version, and you can compare whether you were close or not. To be honest, I could not even imagine that it would end this way. Unusual, intriguing, vital. After watching it, I realized once and for all that revenge is a dish served cold.
My grandfather said: "The first time you hear the nickname "horse" - slap the offender in the nose, in the second call the brazen freak, the third time call the horse - go to the shop and buy a saddle."
A little bit about the plot. The guy whose name is Slevin, everything goes to hell, and he just gets into a non-mental story. In one day, he loses his home, girlfriend and job. Arriving with a friend to calm down and relax, Slevin accidentally owes a round sum of money to people he doesn’t even know. Of course, he does not have them to pay off an unexpected debt, and then he is offered a tempting offer that he cannot refuse.
The movie left behind a pleasant euphoria that holds and does not let you go for a while after watching. I put off watching this movie for a long time, but after watching it, I discovered another worthy film, with a drop of crime and justice.
- Why is he called a rabbi? - Because he's a rabbi. (c)
This is one of the best action/detectives I have ever seen. This is one of the few cases where in this genre the bet is made not on shootings and chases, but on dialogue and directly on the script. Fans of explosions and special effects may not like this picture. Now for more details.
Actors. Bruce Willis, in my opinion, played very well (perhaps one of his best roles). His character-killer nicknamed "Good Cat" says little, but with meaning and his sly smile gives him charm. Josh Hartnett is just damn good - playing easy and easy. His character finds himself in a very, very difficult situation, from which it is almost impossible to get out. The duo of Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley, two mafia foes, is mesmerizing. Sir Kingsley's monologues can be listened to every day, as much as they are imbued with meaning. He speaks the truth and almost always wants to agree with him. The characters of Lucy Lew and Mark Strong are also very good. In general, acting at the proper level, which makes watching the film even more interesting.
The script, like the plot of the film, is simply divine. He is unpredictable and keeps in suspense and bewilderment until the end of the film. Of course, experienced moviegoers could understand and predict the finale at once, but for ordinary viewers it is unlikely to be able to do so. The film is full of quotes and almost every one of them is unique, funny and logical. I am still quoting some of them. I say bravo to the writer and take my hat off. Jason Smilovich, you're a genius. Write more scripts like this.
There are no complaints about music, everything is fine here.
Over. Magnificent script + interesting plot + good acting game + chic and memorable dialogues = Masterpiece of detective, crime, action movie, etc. Name at least one more action movie that is in the Top 100 on Kinopoisk. The song "Kansas city shaffle" makes the ending of the film fun and provides some answers.
The killer in his labyrinth What is revenge? It is an endless corridor of mirrors in which evil trembles in terror before the evil infinity of its reflections. This is another twist of the spiral, in which it is unclear who will actually become an edible animal from an old dystopian comic book. It's a maze. There was time. There will be time. But while he is not - "curled up in a carousel track." And all will wander through the garden of divergent paths until death brings the paths together. What is Kansas City Shuffle? This is when everyone looks to the right and you go to the left. This is when you build a maze to commit murder. They commit murder to complete the labyrinth. It is said that revenge is a dish served cold. From this picture just blows cosmic cold - the breath of fate, like the mathematical law that sums up and closes the circle. Two hateful glances of former friends through armored windows of houses opposite. Two unexpected mercy. Two enemies who became friends. A river of blood washed away the remnants of someone's happiness, and a series of bloody murders leading to a long-awaited quiet life. Reflections and spirals. And revenge is like a way out of the impossible Escher ladder, which was the life of the heroes. Borges wrote the script for Tarantino, a murderously ironic and cold-brutal thriller that looks like one big optical illusion. However, what else to expect from one of the future creators of the brilliant series “Sherlock”? 9 out of 10 Original
This film will not leave much food for thought. You will not see the drama of real people. Each character feels picturesque, artificial, as if he had just come off the page of a book. But you can observe the ingenious puzzle provided to the audience by the creators of the film. Fragments of stories, the interweaving of events occurring at different times, the intrigue that grows with every minute will not allow the viewer to get bored. The detective story allows you to think and try to predict further developments. Something easily guesses and unsophisticated viewer, and something we learn only through the denouement.
From the very beginning of the film, a certain unreality of what is happening is striking. First of all, in relation to the heroes of the events. Each actor managed to create a bright and memorable image. And Ben Kingsley and Morgan Freeman in a rather unusual role of kings of the underworld look very interesting.
Each scene of this film fits very seamlessly into the storyline, hence the feeling of integrity and completeness after watching. After the greasy point staged in the finale, the entire film remains in memory as one vivid impression.
Conclusion: I recommend watching all lovers of detectives, puzzles and unexpected plot twists.
“Gentlemen, we make our bets” or “The intricate story of Slevin”
Paul McGuigan gave us the opportunity to enjoy a truly intelligent, logical, original and in some ways unique thriller. It contains elements of a criminal action movie, comedy, drama and all this is supported by something, thereby making the viewer more imbued with what is happening on the screen. This film is like a perfectly generated, encrypted key, plan of action aimed at the execution of revenge. You can enjoy both the script production and the cast, masterfully coping with the roles assigned to them.
When watching, I strongly recommend you to focus all your eyes on every episode and every detail in the picture. Try to be as attentive as possible in order to fully and fully understand the whole essence of the plot, what the author wanted to convey to us. Well, in the end, realize all the beauty and grace, which was beautifully demonstrated to the viewer quite at a high level.
I do not see the need to describe the whole meaning and idea of the plot, since I do not want to repeat myself with previous speakers. The only thing I can say about him is that he didn't hurt me at all. It is really well thought out and absolutely not boring, but rather captivating from the very first minutes. And all because from the very beginning we are thrown crazy barrage of intrigue. I don’t know “who is who” and what that means. Gradually, by the end of the film, it becomes clear the presence of all the characters - who is connected with whom and why.
Isn't that what makes the movie great? You lick some clever movie in which everything is deeply hidden behind the curtain of the entire component of the picture and not inadvertently, it even happens that the desire to watch it further disappears. But when after all the explanations everything falls into place and you have almost no questions. Then it comes to the apotheosis finale and you understand how much it was done qualitatively, interestingly, with taste and a certain zest, that not for a minute was not a pity wasted time.
It remains to be seen:
“Lucky number slevin” may not be a dynamic film, but it will not affect your communication opinion about it, because it is seasoned with a good share of wit, endowed with colorful and memorable characters, and also catches its extraordinary and extremely rare, this kind of plot. It is meaningful and has an adequate logical chain of events. Think about it and ask yourself: What would you do in your situation? The main character, Slevin, approached the solution of this problem perhaps too cunning and slightly tough way, but how pleased this action. With this, he seemed to pierce through the heart of those people who once, even without suspecting it, hurt him. Very strong and vital!
I believe that this work in full right is and occupies an honorable place in the top of the best films. You can safely add it to your film collection and take it to your loved ones, if you are a true connoisseur of good cinema, which causes respect and makes you think.
So, dear viewers, draw conclusions. And I certainly and without a bit of doubt appreciate highly ...

P.S. There would be more such pictures in which the sincere efforts of the director are felt. Thanks to McGuigan for this creation (it is considered to be the best), he tried his best.
A film-tangle that will give you a sense of satisfaction
Too often in my life I have heard about the film '' Slevin's Lucky Number'' and when the scales were overflowing I decided to watch this film, honestly thought the film would be an action movie in the style he's a bad guy kills innocent people kill him. But people tend to be wrong.
The beginning and end of the film is just an attas, the film can be compared with a cleverly intricate tangle at the second end of which the golden ring if you do not hurry to carefully and thoughtfully watch this work, then at the end you will find a very pleasant surprise, the apogee of the film, where everything will fall into place. What is the dialogue of the main character with Boss Ha Ha Ha? You can’t watch this movie frying eggs in the kitchen and at the same time talking on the phone or picking your nose otherwise you will lose the thread of the narrative and think that the film is not worth the burnt candles as in the end there will be no docking.
The film is good from start to finish. It makes you think. Good actors, an unconventional script thought out to the smallest detail, a good soundtrack, its own atmosphere, an intriguing ending putting everything and everyone in circles. The film is unpredictable, as the director shows the scene, but important details of this scene deliberately do not show the face of the killer, but look at the face of the little boy at the beginning of the film, and now at the main character (two drops of water). ) If you like smart, instructive, unusual, with an unexpected ending, then run at full speed to watch this film. If you think about seeing puddles of blood and an invincible protagonist in this movie, then your stop is definitely not on this platform.

I watched this “masterpiece” quite by accident, switching to the right channel in time. I had never heard of this painting before. I wouldn't have heard it if it wasn't for the cast. Literally from the very first credits, the film lures us with eminent actors for every taste, but then about them. To be honest, while watching, I began to confuse with the genre of this film: first it is a crime drama, then a black comedy, then a detective with puzzle elements, then an action-action. And, in my opinion, this is not one of these genres, but a whole combination of these genres.
The plot is somewhat reminiscent of the legendary film A. Hitchcock “North by Northwest”, only here much more confusing. The main character, Slevin Kelevre, is haunted by a series of failures. He lost his home, his girlfriend left him, when he arrived in New York, he was robbed, and then he was mistaken for his friend, Nick Fisher, a mafia criminal organization. In payment of the debt, the leader of this mafia demands to kill the son of one of his enemies for the murder of his son, otherwise he will be killed. Moreover, another ringleader, whose son he must kill, also confuses him with Fisher and demands money from him.
And I have to shut up at this point, because I don’t want to spoil and spoil the experience of this picture — just see what I’m talking about. How will our hero get out of this situation? You need to find out by watching this movie. Each scene of this film is part of one big mosaic, which, if put together, the grimace of surprise will not come off your faces for at least another five minutes.
The cast here is truly gorgeous. The main character was played by Josh Hartnett. Here we see a charming, intelligent, with a good sense of humor, a little unlucky at first glance guy. And Hartnett plays his role for all 100. His partner on the set, Lucy Liu, who was familiar to me from the films “Charlie’s Angels”, “Kill Bill”, is also not inferior to him in attractiveness and comic, even in something ahead of her colleague. Secondary characters don’t fail either. The roles of villains went to two veteran actors of our time Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley. They played two rival mafia bosses. Believe me, you can’t enjoy these actors. But what attracted me the most was Bruce Willis. And I think that's the best part of this picture. Every appearance on the screen makes us just admire this actor, who fell in love with us since Die Hard. Here he plays a hitman named "Good Cat." It’s not just a killer who kills people. Nope! This killer is going to want to talk to his victim about something before he kills someone. A professional who does his job brilliantly.
"I'm doing all this in the name of Kansas City Shuffle."
It is impossible not to note here excellent installation. I have already said that the whole movie is a puzzle. At first, it seems that some scenes here are unnecessary, but take your time. Towards the end, you will begin to realize that everything is not there, as it seems at first glance. Each frame is in its place and inserted at the right time.
There is also good camera work here. The cameraman did a great job of showing us the emotions and feelings of our heroes. The director has the highest score.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed this puzzle picture. I advise everyone to watch this film not only for fun, but also for the fact that this film is a real exercise for the brain.

When we can’t see the villain, he’s especially scary.
I’ll tell you right away – the film looked promising, even if you don’t take into account that it was in the top 250 best films. Famous Hollywood actors in the main roles. The plot, promising if not another "Big jackpot", then something very similar. And the genre of the picture promises a lot of shootouts that will be staged so that it will be impossible to break away from what is happening. What could possibly go wrong? Many, if not all. Well, meet me, this is Slevin's Lucky Number.
Slevin Kelebro is a simple boy who came to the big city to see his childhood friend. That’s just the journey of the boy from the beginning did not go well. His beloved girl left him, he lost his job, he was robbed on the street, and that the worst two muzzles taking the hero for his friend were beaten and brought Slevin to one of the criminal authorities in one underside. At times like this, you start to think that someone has jinxed you. And there is. After all, a local crime boss named Boss demands that Slevin kill the son of his enemy Ravin. Since there is nowhere to go anyway, our hero agrees, but after fifteen minutes he finds himself in the office of Ravin, where the latter demands a tidy sum from Slevin, or else he will order his guys to cut the hero into a small vinaigrette. It would be better if Josh Hatnett's character stayed in bed today.
What can I say? The storyline is interesting exactly until you understand who, to whom, where and why, and this is about the thirtieth minute of the film. Further, the plot becomes hideously predictable and let the characters make surprised faces when they learn that “Smile Cat” plays its own game, and some characters are not who they pretend to be, but an attentive viewer has already guessed everything and for him the unexpected plot twist is not so unexpected. This picture lacks multi-level combination and real intrigue. Very much missing.
The film also lacks live people. I mean heroes who have a well-written character and who are sympathetic by their appearance. Let's say Boss and Ravin's bodyguards. The screenwriter tried to write dialogues for them in the best traditions of Tarantino and Richie and, yes, sometimes boogie phrases can cause a faint smile, but this is why these characters do not affect the storyline. What is it? They're going to be shown a couple of times in a movie, and they're not going to do anything. And if these characters did nothing, then why focus the viewer’s attention on these muzzles? This is the extra screen time that could be spent in order to better reveal the character of the key characters. Or here's Bruce Willis trying to imitate himself from The Jackal. Exactly what to imitate, because in this picture the character of his hero is not spelled out in any way. We don't know why he does what he does, we don't know if he's a professional killer capable of single-handedly putting down a squad of well-armed fighters, we don't even know what he does in his spare time, or whether he has a family or shot them accidentally. I mean, the Liquidator from "Revolver" or Leon from the film of the same name really had characters and disposed to themselves. Here the hero of Bruce Willis is more a title to the picture than a full-fledged hero. Lucy Liu is a hyperactive girl who works in the morgue and loves movies with Colombo. I understand her. In essence, an interesting character, and the actress plays at the proper level, but the problem is that she is about nothing. Her character does not hide an ace up his sleeve, she does not move the storyline. The heroine Lucy Liu simply exists and she is another title for this film, but not a full-fledged hero. While Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley may be playing on a level, the locations themselves raise questions, both in terms of logic and common sense. Is it really hard to invite a hunter with an elephant to shoot a competitor? Bulletproof glass? I'm belittling you. What century are we living in?
There is no atmosphere in this film. There is no sense that something terrible is going to happen. The heroes are in a situation they can’t get out of. Perhaps it is all the fault that the main character is sick with anarexia and therefore takes everything that happens to him for granted, or maybe because there are no shootings as such in the film, and if there are, they are put very primitively.
Summing up, I want to say that before the viewer there is an unremarkable criminal fighter who leaves only at the expense of his star cast. In fact, you can watch this film, but there are much more worthy works, such as say “Rock and Roller”, “Pulp Fiction” or “Trump Aces”. And what this film forgot in the top 250 I absolutely do not understand.

An unlucky guy named Slevin decides to change the scenery and accepts the invitation of his friend Nick Fisher, who leaves New York, leaving his friend an empty apartment. Unfortunately, Nick played a lot on the racecourse and once bet on the wrong horse, was in the end owed two serious mafiosi – Boss (Morgan Freeman) and Rabbi (Ben Kingsley), who have been fighting each other for many years. However, they know both debtors only by name, which is listed in their bookmaker and neither of them saw Fisher. And now, just before the arrival of Slevin in the city, someone with one shot of a sniper rifle sends the son of Boss to the next world. The gangster is sure that the Rabbi did it and decides to force Mr. Fisher to get even with a former colleague. A pair of ramblers quickly calculates the client’s address and visits his home, where he catches Slevin, who does not understand anything, by surprise. He is dragged to the Boss, and he shares with him the following thoughts - either Slevin kills the son of the Rabbi, or gives $ 97,000. The alternative is a one-way ticket to the fridge. Not in the right place at the right time.
A wildly convoluted thriller that very much wants to be Pulp Fiction but fails to deliver the charisma vital to such a film. More precisely, what no character the picture has, but it does not attract. The characters are all stereotypical, unnaturally behave, constantly sprinkling with some facts, trying to imitate these heroes of Tarantino, who quoted culture much more skillfully and, more importantly, on time.
I am very sorry for the extensive casting here, which was not given anything to work at all. It takes a lot of effort to make Kingsley, Freeman and Bruce Willis so boring and ordinary (played another Good Cat hitman... seriously, his name is Goodkat). The hardest thing was to look at Kingsley, who twisted (sometimes literally) as much as he could, so that his character was not just a stupid, anecdotal Jew, but something after all. Further about the actors - a more uninteresting person for the role of Slevin was impossible to find. Josh Hartnett reference played your neighbor in the stairwell, with whom you do not like to ride in the elevator, because he talks a lot and not funny jokes. It would be tolerable if the film were a melodrama or a family comedy, but it’s a crime thriller that needs to be matched. Almost immediately, I didn’t care what happened to him or how things would turn out for him. The main character can not be made so gray and emotionless! Slevin was supposed to be someone we care about, not someone we don't care about.
A separate line would also like to mention Lucy Liu as Lindsay, Slevin’s neighbor and the most boring female character I’ve seen in recent years. Its mission here is to finally destroy the viewer’s attention. First of all, Lindsay doesn't talk, he taunts. Second, she can’t sit or walk, so she’s always running or twitching. In addition, it is the main source of the very meaningless facts I mentioned above.
Well, now it’s time for the main nail in the coffin – a deadly tedious, overly sophisticated and predictable plot! I don’t know (and don’t want to know) who wrote the script, but this is the first time I’ve seen such an unintuitive story. Timekeeping is 1 hour, 40 minutes and it is divided as follows - 1 hour of fuss, 20-30 minutes of explanations of what happened in the previous hour and 10 minutes of credits. The script is so sophisticated that the director does not hope that anyone will be able to understand it without a detailed series of flashbacks on all the main events. During these jumps, I wanted to shout to the side of the screen, “I don’t care!” I already know who this kid was, who the Good Cat was sent for, why Slevin so easily agreed to a contract murder, and who Fisher is! Please let me go and I will go!
In short, as I think you have long understood, Slevin's lucky number is, to put it mildly, nothing special. A prankster who swelled, in pursuit of such films as "Big jackpot", "Departed" and the above-mentioned "Pulp Fiction". Take a look at them.
What would a man with two members say to a tailor when asked, "Exit on the right or left?"
I think this film is pretty spoiled by the cliches, in terms of directing work. The script is brilliant, good dialogue, and everything is so interestingly tied up: an incomprehensible murder, then Slevin in a towel - interesting. But by the middle of the film, one gets the feeling that the film is pressed like any American mainstream blockbuster. Here are some others who write: 'Why these dialogues, remove the dialogue', well, let’s remove the author’s decisions altogether, so that the film becomes a factory product.
Events flash one after another. There is no place to think, to give some ambiguity, I’m not talking about the storyline, and philosophically. Well, you watch Tarkovsky’s film and there the algae is not algae, it is space algae, they have so much ambiguity that insert these algae in ' Slevin’s Lucky Number' it seems that the film would turn out great.
And here's the ending, in the end, Hollywood stamps just climb out of the screen, these straightforward techniques of influencing the viewer, they spoil everything. What does he say ' You killed all my relatives', it's clear that you killed. Take it, shoot more art and the film would be better, add something of your own.
In general, I liked that the film so successfully combines a love story with an interesting criminal story.
“The important thing is to be in the right place at the right time,” I always wanted those words to come true. Isn't that true? But sometimes the opposite happens. And if in the first case you are lucky, then in the second you are, to put it mildly, unlucky. The slogan of the film “Lucky number Slevin” speaks for itself and manages even these few words to interest and push to view.
In the genre of cinema more refers to the crime detective. But as such, there is little detective in it. There's a lot of crime. And the criminal basis allows you to twist the plot of the film so famously that the detective component manifests itself in the investigation of the viewer himself over everything that is happening. The creators of the picture deftly play with the viewer, throwing out a lot of questions at the very beginning of the film. There is no need to be afraid of this, and you should not scratch your head over them. By the middle, the load will decrease, and the picture will begin to clear up. But this is only at first glance. The intrigue will be until the very end, where all questions will surely find their answers.
Slevin is the name of the main character played by Josh Hartnett. I did not have time to come to New York to a friend to live a little and move away from everyday failures. As soon as he becomes involved in a dangerous criminal showdown. The hero of Hartnett manages to interest from the very first frames of his appearance. Life goes downhill and he walks and smiles. His smirk, carelessness significantly distinguish this hero from others. He looks funny against the background of the serious Morgan Freeman and the equally serious Ben Kingsley. But it is this difference that resonates, making the hero one of the most interesting.
As for the semantic load, it sounds more than once through the mouth of the hero Bruce Williss. These words say a lot, and what you need can be understood through them. The semantic component makes the film not another criminal showdown with shootings and denouement at the end, there is a certain philosophy in the film. And this becomes enough in addition to a twisted plot, an attractive cast, interesting characters and no questions at the end.
As a result, “Slevin’s Lucky Number” makes you break your head a little, enjoy a good movie, and after watching it, think about the film more than once. You have to watch this movie.
Charlie Chaplin finished third in the Charlie Chaplin doubles competition, which is crazy.
Plot:
To be honest, starting to watch thrillers and detectives, I don’t understand anything. Why? Usually these are different stories or events that at first glance are not connected. This film was no exception to the rule. Then the main events began to occur. Throughout the film, nothing unexpected happens. Well, except for a few minor points. I didn't like the fact that there were a few inappropriate jokes in the film and ''39; funny' moments that involve the protagonist's long language. But the ending is just something! All the incomprehensible moments in the beginning, all the things that we couldn't understand throughout the film, all this is at the end of the film. To be honest, after watching this movie, I was impressed for another 3 days. I thought about it, I thought about it. It seems to me that films with such endings should be called a thriller!!
Actor's game:
Ben Kingsley, Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis, Lucy Lew, Josh Hartnett - the acting of these actors I would like to appreciate in this review. So, Ben Kingsley and Morgan Freeman. I have deep sympathy for both actors. I love them both in good and bad roles, but I didn’t see them as evil gangsters in this movie. Each one of them is angry in their own way, but it's not the anger I want to see. Bruce Willis is a great job. Even though he kept one facial expression throughout the film, that was the expression I liked. Lucy Liu is a beautiful, energetic and cheerful girl. That's what she showed in the film, and she showed 100%. As a rule, it is very difficult to play kind characters who retain one emotion throughout the film. As you can see, I'm talking about Josh Hartnett. If he hadn’t finally shown in the finale what I’ve been waiting for throughout the film – the man who was different & #39, I would have left a negative review of him, which is not bad. Josh is good!
Results:
' Slevin's Lucky Number' is a good movie to watch and even watch. Sometimes it was like a bad comedy, but in the end it still managed to surprise me. I used to see the main gangsters of the film in other roles, so I could well be unfair, and so the whole lineup is very good.
The whole movie is Kansas City Shuffle in action! Just like Nick Fisher’s character, we look in one direction, whereas to see the essence, we need to look in the opposite direction. The truth of this error is not death for us, but great shock and delight. It is only at the end of the film that you realize how well the plot was twisted and how skillfully we were made to cheat for over an hour and a half. When you realize that reality is the exact opposite of what we see.
This is Kansas City Shaffle in relation to the viewer, when the most dangerous is not the one who threatens and spews curses, but the one who is silent; not the one who breaks into your house with a gun in his hand, but the one whom you bring yourself, without any weapons, not the one who is your worst enemy and whom you fear, but the one at whom you laugh and at nothing bet. When it seems to you that you are in control of the situation and you are the master of the situation, and you have already lost and your life is not worth a penny.
Seems like what could be worse when you're being hunted down by an unflappable professional killer? Only if he is a professional killer, whose equanimity hides a heart burning with cold rage and thirst for revenge. And the more impenetrable and emotionless his face, the more crushing his rage and malice. He is like a chain dog, which was let down from the tether, follows the trail and will stop at nothing. For he is an evil dog.
Interesting antagonism of the names of the heroes: Good cat and evil dog. This again shows us the inner state of the protagonist and how he successfully masks him.
So, sit comfortably in front of the screen and turn on the movie. Just remember, all you see is Kansas City Shaffle, which the teacher and his student mastered. However, what is true is that the film keeps your attention for 2 hours: the film makes you think, analyze; the plot, the play of the characters, the unusual cold atmosphere of the film, the love line - here it is all perfectly shown and revealed, and here we are exactly looking in the right direction and we will not go wrong.
The film is cool, in the atmosphere, twisting and fascinating plot is close to another amazing film by Paul McGuigan with Josh Hartnett in the title role – “Obsession”, where quite other characters quite master the principle “when everyone looks to the right, you appear on the left”, and we are again forced to puzzle over the solution.
Wonderful movie! I've seen it over five times. After the first viewing, the film settled in my heart and daddy "favorites".
The sharpness of the plot is amazing. Built by Paul McGuigan(Director) the picture forces the viewer to watch the film, holding his breath and not taking off until the very end. Dynamics and subtle humor distinguish this film from the usual boring detective, combining "visual freshness". After all, in this film, the viewer needs only attention, not deep inner meaning or anything else that you need when watching other “scarce” detectives. You are invited to relax and enjoy watching, carefully watching the events that are happening. As a result of these events "all puzzles" are assembled, and "killing ending" is outlined - perhaps the most important "masterpiece" detective.
The film involves a wonderful ensemble of actors who quite perfectly coped with their task. Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, Lucy Liu, Stanley Tucci and Josh Hartnett, who amazingly entered the role of the main character and rose to the top of my favorite actors.
A stunning film that will delight not only connoisseurs of detectives, but also an ordinary resident with a bad mood, who did not classify the movie and decided to relax after work.
For me personally, this is a masterpiece that should remain in the memory of many, at least due to its delightful presentation of the plot by the director of the film.
I recommended this film to many of my friends and acquaintances, who were also very excited after watching this work.
I've watched Slavin's Lucky Number over five times and I'll watch it again. Even though I know the plot, it still gives me great pleasure to watch it again.

If we talk about the genre of thriller, you can clearly see that this is a rich genre, many films are shot in this direction. There are not so many masters in this genre as we would like, the iconic figure of the genre is David Fincher, in fact he gets chic things, from which he just tears the roof off after watching, I think it is not worth listing these tapes. In the case of Slevin, after watching, you can understand that the director tried his best, and it becomes clear that the film was made with a certain inspiration and love for the genre. The film was directed by Paul McGuigan with the filmography of which I am not yet familiar, but after Slevin he interested me as a director. Critics of the film appreciated not very well, relatively, but the audience received the picture very well, the ratings show that the tape liked many movie lovers. The picture is set as it should and all that is needed in it is present, it is tension, mystery, detective line, famously twisted plot from which you can essentially admire, because everything is done correctly and tastefully. It would seem that the tape begins as a usual narrative that the boy lost his father, but then we are served a dish that can not be abandoned, interest grows more and more when Bruce Willis appears in the frame.
A guy who appears in a bathrobe in an incomprehensible apartment in which clearly and judiciously explains how he got there to his neighbor, who became interested in what he does in an apartment in which a neighbor lived a guy and even with a broken nose. She decides to find out who he is and where he is from, what he is doing here and where his neighbor Fisher is. Slevin begins his story about his wallet being taken, his nose broken, and his job lost. All this is fascinating and interesting for the neighbor, who is trying to find out what really happened to Fisher and who is Slevin.
The film has a very good cast, which is very good. Slevina was not bad to the will, but actor Josh Hartnett, who very well demonstrated his image. Bruce Willis on the one hand funny, and on the other hand his character is cruel and faithful to his work, and the work of Mr. Good Cat is not very good. Sir Ben Kingsley played a role in the film with another Hollywood veteran Morgan Freeman, their duet in this film is chic and memorable. Stanley Tucci was also remembered for a good role. Of course, the great Lucy Liu, liked very much in this film, perhaps her best role in her career. The picture is very competently worked out with intricacies in the plot, which is the main advantage over other paintings of the thriller genre. The film can also be attributed to crime. A chic thriller, I would like to see and enjoy more of these, great plot twists and an unexpected ending.
Kansas City Shuffle is when everyone looks to the right and you appear to the left. And this is a kind of cinematic technique, which is not given to everyone. Sometimes the director wants the viewer to get confused – and this viewer stubbornly sees the cinematic seams, laughs at the script and sarcastically gushes “this is the turn.” In a word, it is difficult to play with script interweavings, and honor and praise to those masters of film art who not only take up this business, but also competently bring it to the end. I must say that "Lucky number Slevin" is the movie, which in its kind deserved a place under a glass cap in the chamber of measures and weights as a sample of a twisted script. Not complicated, I dare say, not deep-thinking or complex, namely looping, not giving the audience a chance to understand something until at least the 40th minute of the film. The director McGigan knows how to work with the material is actually disposable (knowing the ending, it will be impossible to surprise you a second time). The focus of the filmmakers is that Slevin's Lucky Number can be revised several times, already knowing that "the killer is a butler." How does it achieve the effect of undisturbedness?
Filmed before the “era of Nolan”, which literally six months later will present the world his “Prestige”, giving impetus to ornate cinema in a beautiful camera wrapper. “Slevin,” one might say, was a harbinger of films that were entertaining and sometimes required more attention than thought. What we have initially – a young man, Slevin Kelevra, who lost his job, girlfriend and home for a day, falls into the field of view of two large mafiosi (charisma kills cleaner than guns), who for some reason believe that he is Nick Fisher, who completely owes them money and almost his own life. Slevin is not lost, he laughs in the best traditions of British crime comedies (the director’s citizenship is felt), periodically receives sobering kicks for this ... and, in fact, comes out of the whole situation as a winner. It would seem interesting, but does not pretend to be something especially memorable. Nevertheless, this film is marked by audience love and even strict critics treated it favorably. It seems to me that the secret of such success lies in the right dialogue with the audience. We're given a puzzle box. All the pieces are in place, you just need to arrange them correctly - and the picture will come together. The problem with the viewer is that he simply cannot collect them. Everything is built on the little things that the eye clings to, so the general look, so necessary for understanding the plot, will be demonstrated only at the end - as the director intended.
Separate mention are the dialogues “Slevin”. Through amusing, sometimes incoherent, sometimes illogical, and sometimes unexpectedly deep statements, the director not only allows the characters to communicate with each other stylishly and tastefully, but also calls the viewer to talk.
- Unbelievable nonsense.
- Charlie Chaplin finished third in the Charlie Chaplin Doubles competition in Monte Carlo. That's bullshit. My story is different.
Indeed, the story of McGuigan and his team is indeed "something different." Revenge here is served not just cold, but, let’s say, with a clear flavor of ice cream. Love is like partnership, danger is like misunderstanding. The main character is akin to a casual passerby with his, however, aces in his pockets. The viewer resembles the heroine of Lucy Liu, who builds logically correct guesses, but still gets confused. And the director of this movie is the Good Cat ("For you - Mr. Good Cat"), mysteriously smiling and offering a serious look at the farce surrounding you.
Have a good time.
Surprisingly incredible and interesting plot interweavings; amazing actors and their roles. I haven’t seen an original movie like this in a long time. Of course, I expected something good, but not so much; I tried to solve the main intrigue, but everything was in vain. Almost every twist of the story ruined my guess. And as a result - a complete delight, surprise, and desire to watch again "Slevin's Lucky Number" more closely, to observe the characters, their actions and emotions.
I liked almost everything here: the music, the setting, the nature of the shooting, the actors, the plot. Of course, without people like Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Lucy Liu, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley and many other movies would not have caused such an effect. Of course, my favorites were Slevin and his new girlfriend. A little humor, charm, confidence, talented play... and this together gives a great picture, which you want to watch constantly. But from the start, I kept thinking: Well? Tell me, how could the main character be so calm under rather delicate circumstances? So little of that, he's a little brazen. Come on, he's kind of atheroxic. The only thing that bothered me was the good cat. I was not impressed by Bruce Willis’s performance, and the hero himself is full of secrets that are not going to be revealed to us.
“Slevin’s Lucky Number” is an amazing story, as it seems at first glance about a simple guy-loser, who later takes an unpredictable turn. It was from this film that Josh Hartnett opened up to me as a good actor. And Lucy Lew, I'm even more in love. She created such a sweet, to some extent chatty image of the girl-neighbor, and even with the skills of Colombo.
As a result, I did not notice the flying time, and I did not have to get bored, since there were always so exciting actions that you simply forget to watch the clock.
Admired by the play of the main characters, the work of the director, music, an intriguing plot! Now it's one of my favorite movies. Bravo! What else can you say?
I’ve been watching this movie for the second time in six months. And the second time I am delighted, and now Slevin has the highest score on the scale and the mark “heart”.
The first time I saw this movie, it had quite a strong effect on me – I was intrigued, surprised, delighted and amazed. Everything is at the top level, from the script to great acting. Magnificent humor, a daring look Slevin, who finally planted in your brain a vague suspicion that “something is wrong”, the plot is so unpredictable that every turn is a revelation for you. You begin to guess about something only towards the end, and then, rather intuitively - there are no hints. Slevin himself is extremely charismatic with his three times broken nose, towel, slippers and sharp tongue - Hartnett is good, this role is entirely his.
And now, after re-watching, I declare that Slevin's Lucky Number is an extraordinary and great film that manages to keep you on edge even when you know what's coming next. Even knowing the plot, I still felt interested and enjoyed the impeccable acting even more, noticing nuances that were not noticeable before. I think in time I might want another look.
After the first view, I put “Slevina” 9 points out of 10, but now – only
For a long time I could not decide to see this film, to be honest, I do not even know why, but I thought that the film is quite boring and Hartnett is not very pleasant to me, but after watching the film my opinion has changed radically.
After reading a couple of reviews, I realized that like most of the movies I’ve watched, this movie is going to be boring until about the middle. But everything is not so, from the very first moments I was passionate about watching and I really liked this movie, and after Josh Hartnett visited the Boss in the towel became even more interesting and for good reason.
Impressions from the film are such that in my humble opinion, this is the first-rate criminal detective with elements of a thriller, which so successfully fit into its duration that it is impossible to imagine more ideal than yourself. The film lasts a little less than 2 hours, but in no case is it delayed or crumpled. All events are thoroughly laid out on the shelves, the storyline is predictable in places, but in general it is built most competently. The acting is flawless except for Ben Kingsley, forgive Sir Ben Kingsley. As mentioned here, he is not a Rabbi at all, anyone but a Rabbi, this actor did not play the role in which he appeared, everything was too intimidating.
As for everything else, the film is clearly worth the time to spend on it, personally I think that I will spend this time on it more than once, which I recommend to those who read this review.
P.S.
As for the rating, I will not stint and put 10, because this is the film that leaves a lasting impression of watching during which you get an exceptional pleasure, which is valuable in films for me personally.
I love movies where the ending is so unexpected that you are shocked and delighted. I had no idea or expectation of how this movie would end. And in general, the description of the film does not hurt. The first hour seemed like some kind of criminal comedy. But there is nothing to say about the plot, because you cannot say without telling the whole point. This is not going to be the story anymore.
From the very first minute I had the strange feeling that I had already heard music from this movie. I thought, “It’s like a Sherlock Holmes movie.” I saw who is the director and you – the creator of my favorite Sherlock 2010. This strange note is felt throughout the film, and not just in the music. Sometimes it seems like the same camera was shot. But in general, a very beautiful and interesting picture. It's really good. This picture has a very good script. With the exception of those clever and beautiful words in the finale (and not only), there is a very good humor that supports the script and does not create an atmosphere of a complex, criminal story. Every joke is like that, and sometimes describes its character.
Josha Hartnett saw only in the Faculty, but my brother reminded me that he played there, otherwise I would have discovered it for the first time. In this role, he's amazing. Beautiful, charismatic. It turned out to be a really two-sided character, so different and so wonderful. All of his actions in the film are understandable. His life does not hurt that sweet, and with this final chord he ended his former life, starting a new one. He has a great character who walks the whole movie with a broken nose and a funny feature.
Don't you have to worry more?
- I have ataraxia.
- Ataraxia?
- This is a condition that is characterized by the absence of anxiety and anxiety. (c)
Lucy Liu was very nice and kind. Such a funny, neat girl. Bruce Willis with his characteristic smile, which is not clear what tells us. The character is very typical for him, so everything is in its place. Ben Kingsley in an interesting role. But I was more pleased with Morgan Freeman and Stanley Tucci, whom I love very much. Both have good, memorable characters, and I couldn’t expect anything bad from such a cast.
I'm sure your nose is affected by your mouth. (c)
In this picture, incredibly beautiful and different music. At first it is really in the style of "Holmes". So cunning, fervent - very good. But at the end, when the denouement is close and the real drama begins, the music changes. This is an amazing track by Joshua Ralph – Fub. It sounds very tragic and beautiful, thereby further aggravating the situation. To give credit, Joshua Ralph worked hard. Awesome!
At first I didn’t think I’d find any meaning in this movie because it didn’t promise to be serious and sad. But the ending is amazing, because I just did not imagine that the end could be like this. Very interesting and unusual. This interesting story is also complemented by a very successful duration for this picture, almost two hours - is absolutely not boring.
Slevin's Lucky Number is an amazing movie. I want to look at them and say “delightful.” Amazing music, actors and script. It's definitely worth watching! With the choice I did not lose and now completely satisfied with what I saw.

The main element of this film is intrigue. She's been following us from the first minute. What happens next? What happens next? I think a lot of people have asked this question while watching .
Since the first episode of the film takes place at the racetrack, and even the name hints, it was assumed that the speech in the film will go about it. But that wasn't it. Everything is more complicated here.
At first glance, it seems like a very simple story. The main character comes to his friend's house, which he does not find there, to meet a nice neighbor. Then two enemy empires (let’s call them that) confuse him with another person and demand either the repayment of the debt or the removal of the intended victim.
That's where the fun started. And most importantly, the atmosphere is not tense at all. On the contrary, the hero perceives the whole situation with mild irony, calmly discusses what to do next, and how to act. It makes the film light. The film is not saturated with a bunch of events or endless fights and explosions, here the emphasis is on dialogue, intrigue, not fully disclosed plot, and it is very addictive. What will the protagonist do? What will he choose? After all, it just won’t end, there must be something that will surprise everyone.
The whole film we saw the hero on the one hand, followed the chain of events, tried to guess how the film will end, and in the end it did not turn out as expected.
Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Lucy Lew. Ben Kingsley: In my opinion, a very strong cast. You can say the actors are all in their seats, each has their own task, which they perform as they should, there is nothing to complain about.
Every actor creates a certain mood. Each character has its own image.
Josh Hartnett. His role in the film can be divided into 2 parts. In the first part, an interesting, talkative, carefree guy. In the second part, we observe a change from a carefree one can even say a frivolous guy to the embodiment of confidence, courage, and a little arrogance, and first of all a person purposeful, who for many years went to his goal.
Lucy Liu is a cheerful cheerful sociable girl, captivating with her simplicity and sincerity.
Bruce Willis, as always confident in his actions, is a cold-blooded man who is dedicated to his work.
It was strange to see Morgan Freeman as the leader of the mafia. After all, he mostly plays the role of kindly responsive people, with his own philosophy (as in the films Million Dollar Baby and The Shawshank Escape), but in this image he proved that he is one of the best actors.
Ben Kingsley He's at his plate. He is very similar to the image of a mafia.
On account of the shooting, I can say that everything was carried out in quite bright colors, because many crime films were shot in dark gloomy colors, perhaps to show the seriousness of the situation. But in this film, that brightness gives you special features.
It was also very pleased that the film had crown phrases, such as "Kansas City Shuffle", the answer is what it means, as always revealed at the end of the film.
Overall, this movie is for everyone. It looks easy, not forced, intrigue does not let go until the very end.
I was familiar with McGuigan’s earlier film, which did not impress me, but only brought doubt to the genre of the crime thriller. Usually, such films are replete with, as a rule, bloody shootouts, where revolvers are like anti-aircraft guns, and knives are cut like axes. It is also a well-constructed scenario (and it does not matter what it is based on: politics, crime, sports, etc.), naturally with classical dialogues adjoining the script, such as:"-The case is rubbish.-Yes, but we will make it out" or this: "We owe him a f***ing pound, and where do you think we will get this money? And as long as the suit sits! And it is equally important that brilliant actors do their job perfectly!
Speaking of the crime thriller, I immediately recall Ritchev’s “Cards, Money, Two Guns”, “Reservoir Dogs” or at worst “Rock and Roller”, which have not so cool actors, dubious scenery, low budget and incredibly complicated plot, where after the climax you do not want to puke profusely. Painting by Paul McGigagan “Lucky number Slevin” was one of these paintings, where the sodium of the big names of Hollywood does not play any role (well, you understand), and after the finale of the film, the film is not published.
All these unexpected turns will be visible from afar. Namely: moments at the beginning of the film with the Boss ring and the Ravin cannon, the watch of Slevin’s father and so on, so on and so forth. And the film goes from some unnatural angle, because the two strongest mafiosi of New York is guarded only by a couple of boogies and an elevator, questioning the realism of the picture, which she claimed at the beginning. From such moments, the film comes out neither more nor less absurd.
I decided for a long time that if there are a couple of famous actors in the film, then it does not mean anything. True for himself noticed and blundered, because Freeman and Willis in “Slevin” walk with stone faces and it does not occur to me that they experience. Willis, okay, he can be dropped after his tasteless play on his role as a high-profile hitman, and Freeman what? Plays a paranoid mobster who is afraid to leave his building, sits behind bulletproof glass, and we do not understand in the process of watching whether fear is so strong or what drives him in general? To whom there are no complaints, it's Ser Ben Kingsley, who very clearly introduced us to his hero, who is a kind of perfectionist, Jewish, scrupulous head of the mafia, whose son is gay. As for Hartnett, Lew and other actors, there is nothing to say. The heroine Lucy Lew strives for the truth, like her favorite detective Colombo, and our main character just goes according to the script, that is, says and does everything he should, but you do not get any pleasure from his game. And in general, was it right to take on the main role Hartnet, and not, say, McAvoy? I'm not the judge of that, though.
There is no atmosphere of crime in the film. The way the scenery of the apartments of the mafia, the incomprehensible actions of the local police, the generally incomprehensible actions of the heroes of the film, the behavior of the messengers of these very mafiosi, all this creates the impression that you are not watching a criminal thriller at all, but a pathetic parody of comedy.
I think it would have been better if the film had followed its original script. And it would have ended with Willis killing everyone and driving his Cadillac into the sunset, that's when the movie would have delivered. And so we have only Hartnet, who plays for laughs, and Freeman with Kingsley, who eventually “find” each other, as well as Bruce “Stoneface” Willis, who apparently did not have to become a killer from Kansas City Shuffle, but, apparently, from a good life.
Anyone who sees the story of this movie will think, “What’s wrong with this guy?” The main character Slevin managed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and is an example of fantastic bad luck. He is mistaken for a friend in whose apartment he stays. And now Slevin owes a ton of money to two New York City crime bosses. Time is 48 hours. The guy is not discouraged and actively thinks how to get out of this mess, while pleasing all the imaginary creditors.
Slevin’s Lucky Number is a classic crime thriller. Events develop quite quickly, interest in history appears immediately, and towards the end it turns a completely different side. Yes, the finale is the main trump card of this picture. In fact, it's not so unexpected if you plug in the brain, but I didn't do it during the viewing, which is why I blame myself. When the surprise passes, you realize that all the time the solution lay on the surface, but for some reason you simply did not associate it with what you saw.
Cinema has a quite standard for this genre of humor, and all the irony is very well sustained, from small jokes to the characters themselves, for example, the rabbi-authority.
Slim has a small hearing problem - Slim is dead.
Do you know what an order is?
- Yes, that's when you're ordered!
- I understand that in school you did not pass the difficult word “tautology”.
The cast, of course, is beyond praise. Handsome Hartnett, cute Lew, restrained Freeman and ironic Kingsley – this composition is difficult to criticize, because all these people know how to fit into the roles entrusted to them as expected. But my main surprise is that Bruce Willis is not in the usual role of a tough uncle who saves everyone, but a quiet criminal personality with a groove on his side.
And so, with all the ingredients for success – and filmed well, and the actors are cool, and the music is such a thing, and the story is dashing, and jokes are good – I was missing something. Yeah, I'm picky! And it's lacking in style. Some kind of character. Chips, if you like. It is the fault of either too familiar actors, or excessive gloss of frames, or the lack of formed handwriting of the director (not familiar with his paintings, frankly).
In general, of course, a cool dynamic picture, spectacular and providing you with an hour and a half of interesting viewing. The director literally lost us in three pines. However,
The first time you hear the nickname “horse”, slap the offender on the nose. If you hear it in the second one, call the brazen freak. The third time they call you a horse, go to the store and buy a saddle.
The film "Lucky number Slevin" I met thanks to the game "Guess the movie by frame". As it turned out, this site did PR for this picture. But if I was going to see it, it certainly wasn't in the front row. I was not going to take the disk or spend precious traffic of my SIMKA in the modem. But then I found that it shows the TV channel “Russia-2” and then I thought: “I’ll see!”
So ragged is the narrative that I'm dizzy, connecting the details of this puzzle. A good half of the tape I thought this was quite naughty. But the most interesting thing is that even then he had his own logic of regularity.
There's a lot of stars in the movie. This is definitely a plus of the picture. Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley... You don’t notice that they are the continuity of a new generation. Look at this, Josh Harnett and Lucy Liu... This is what the young always have a way to go.
But I started out a little wrong.
Seeing the footage in the game “Guess the movie...”, I was very interested in what was there, where the scar from Slevin. For some reason, I identified Slevina in absentia without error. Yeah, that's what Harnett was. But what happened to his nose and how it happened is so easy to tell. To tell, but spoiler? - Who needs it?
And so, the narrative goes on interspersed with events of different times. But whether it is not difficult to show, or I just immediately turned out to be the most tuned, but it seemed to me that the film is not complicated and is perceived if not in one breath, then certainly not so through force. And do Smilovitch (writer of the script) and McGigan (director) in the spirit of conventional Hollywood fiction, you see, and would not be such a success in the film. There is no doubt that the film is successful. I’m not a fan of this kind of storytelling...
At the end, the puzzle is bound to come together. And what will appear to the eye, if not please, will surprise, I hope for sure.
At first I thought that the film was for a narrow circle of people, but now I will definitely recommend it to all my friends. I think he liked it and should be liked by all those who have read everything I have written.
I think I have everything...
Why is he called the Rabbi?
- Because he's a rabbi.
The film left me with some positive emotions.
The plot is twisted, but in moderation. For some reason, I immediately guessed about most of the pitfalls, immediately after placing all the chess pieces on the plot board, but the creators of the film still gave me several times, as they say, “breathing” with unexpected moves. It was interesting and exciting to worry about the fate of the heroes, especially since the characters were chosen colorful - in the spirit of the masterpieces of Guy Ritchie or Tarantino.
Slevin is a poor lad in one towel with a broken nose, by the will of fate drawn into the world of criminal showdowns, moderately chatty (for which he paid more than once) and insolent. Josh Hartnett very well showed his inner struggles, his forced restraint in dialogues with the mafia and the police (and all the dialogues here - mmm.
The rabbi and the boss are old robbers who still can not calm down and quit. The main antagonists performed by Sir Ben Kingsley and Morgan Freeman show the upper class of acting. The Jewish mafia is generally a separate topic - curtsey towards the same Guy with his "Big Kush".
A kind cat is a kind of Leon-Leopold, moderately ruthless and moderately sentimental. Good old Bruce. Well, the expression "Kansas City Shafl" has already entered my usual lexicon. I'm not going to exaggerate it. You'll see!

The film has been watched by me more than 50 times this year.
Isk was looking for minuses in this movie, but never found. Everything in the movie is wonderful.
Actors: Josh Hartnt, Bruce Williss, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, Lucy Liu
Everyone just perfectly fit into their roles, this is exactly the feeling when you watch a movie, and you realize that you would not want to see anyone else in the place of these actors. Even Lucy Sue, whose acting talents I doubt, played exactly as she should in this film.
Fantasticly selected music in the episodes, it does not come to the forefront, but perfectly complements certain scenes.
I see no point in writing about the plot, since like all films of this genre, it is twisted and interesting.
The movie would be very helpful to watch.
Not long ago I wrote a review of the new “Sherlock” and I did not leave the thought that somewhere I had already seen Paul McGuigan and then when I saw it, I really jumped into the eyes, his handwriting is similar.
“Lucky number Slevin” – was released in 2005 and was not marked by outstanding box office, but not bad, but excellent reviews of film critics noted.
Paul McGuigan thought out the film perfectly because you can’t see so many flaws in it with the naked eye, perfecting the storyline, twisted and twisted in the best traditions of the genre. A great cast, and most importantly everything in the logical chain is in its place.
In the film we are talking about Slevin Calebro, who began a black streak in life, who came to New York to his friend Nick Fisher, but he does not find him, but found two of the largest mafiosi who mistook him for Nick, and he must now return them a small debt.
by cast:
Josh Harnett – just perfect for the role of Slevin, so unremarkable, played just great, the highest ball.
Lucy Liu - very funny played, the neighbor of Nick Fisher, a curious and chatty lover of detectives.
Bruce Willis - played the hired killer of the Good Cat, very interestingly got used to the role, but not in the first because.
Morgan Freeman is the Boss, but I have no question about him for a long time, the ideal actor for the second planned role.
Ben Kingsley - very interesting role of Ravin
Indeed, in general, acting deserves a positive assessment.
In general, as deserves the best assessment of the film, which may not have action, but is it necessary here? But there is a very interesting and twisted logical chain that is really consistent from a to me. I highly recommend the film to everyone!
I was advised to watch this movie by almost all my friends and acquaintances. And, as it turned out, it was not in vain.
Lucky Slevin Number is not just another action movie. This is an amazing film with an interesting storyline and wonderful actors. Although the effect of surprise plays a significant role, the film is worth watching over and over again.
It would seem that we see another loser: the girl changed, the house was taken away, and now influential mafiosi are hunting behind the guy’s head. But not everything is as simple as it seems at first glance.
Josh Hartnett is incredibly charismatic. The role of Slevin suits him perfectly. Lucy Lew is not my favorite actress, but here she coped with her role.
Bruce Willis is the same type in all films, unfortunately. However, he was able to embody the image of the Good Cat - I can't imagine anyone else in this role. You know, no one would come here except Willis.
And, of course, I want to highlight Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley. With Morgan Freeman I know only from such films as 'Bruce Almighty', 'And came the spider', 'Deep Blue Sea' and 'The Shawshank Escape' where he plays positive characters. But after watching Slevin's Lucky Number, I became convinced that negative roles were easy for him. But Ben Kingsley to see in the image of the villain, on the contrary, is familiar. His performance in the film 'Prince of Persia'. I am glad that such outstanding actors, experts in their field were selected for the roles of these characters.
The plot of the film is twisted, the ending is unexpected, even unpredictable. The film does not fall under the usual standard of action movies - and this, perhaps, is its highlight.
Throughout the screen time, you feel the atmosphere. It’s nice to watch the beautiful scenery, the acting and just enjoy the movie. And, of course, the final chord is a beautiful soundtrack J. Ralph - Kansas City Shuffle.
Slevin’s Lucky Number does not carry any great idea or attempt to convey any particular idea. But if you want to have a good rest and watch a really high-quality movie, then Slevin's Lucky Number is the movie for you.

- Holy shit! Shit! Jesus! - That's right, in that order.
Actually, the idea of a film where “good” bandits confront “evil” bandits is not new. A plot in which negative, in general, characters are presented as positive: funny, fair, etc. - the basis of the same Guy Ritchie style. And revenge in a cold form is a popular topic. But that's not even the point. For me, the way of presenting topics is much more important, but here we can already talk about the talent of the director.
“Slevin’s Lucky Number” is a movie that is definitely worth watching. Bribes the fact that the incomprehensible seed is quite organically promoted in the process and does not leave a feeling of understatement, misunderstanding, incompleteness. Actually, who is Slevin, I guessed somewhere in the middle of the picture. Painfully unperturbed behaves man, caught in the thick of gangster showdowns, "between the hammer and the anvil." And even Slevin’s explanation on this topic somehow does not sink. A little longer remained unclear role of the hero Willis in history. However, this did not diminish the interest.
A good, well-made American film, with well-completed storylines, excellent acting (Willis is so in his favorite role). In places tough, sometimes ironic, sometimes touching.
Watch for anyone who likes criminal fighters with intrigue.
I watched it a long time ago and now, according to the old tradition, I decided to resume information in memory.
A film from the category "all the opposite." The directors seem to specially touch on all the fictional information in special detail to divert our attention from the most important thing, because in this film everything that we should have understood was told at the very beginning, we can only think, but there is a mistake. Our attention sticks to the further plot, which allows us to forget all the initial stages, or maybe we just subconsciously do not want to invent something ourselves, and wait for the final scene to tell us all the main character.
Plot. Of course, the plot with such a character has been met before, but in this film it is very well beaten, which does not allow the viewer to draw special parallels with other films.
Actors. The cast just want to stand up screaming bravo and clapping! Well, let’s probably follow the chain, namely, starting with who it all began. Bruce Willis plays a double role in this film. Of course, the role of a negative character is immediately hammered into our head by the fact that at the very beginning of the film with a calm expression, with a special approach, kills a calm guy. Well, then everything seems clear to us: he is a bad type who will want to “set” the main character and that’s it! But no! It's getting deeper and more sophisticated. Next on the list will analyze the role of Lucy Liu. Her character immediately inspires optimism and trust. I don't think anyone could see her as a sent agent or a bloodthirsty killer. Of course not! Her character was so stable on the bar of a “vigorous neighbor” that I did not want to move her anywhere. The reincarnation of Mogran Freeman made me wonder again! Every role he plays is like, ‘That’s his role.’ Slevin's Lucky Number is no exception. Of course, Ben Kingsley also enters into a wonderful tondem with Freeman. And finally, I want to write about the most important character, played for a long time by the famous Josh Hartnett. His character is so ordinary, cheerful that you do not want to set any limits on him. Of course, the directors specifically introduce such a zone of “line of trust”. The whole film Slevin tells us sad stories from his life that we just inadvertently compare ourselves to him, and what are we?! We are ordinary people, and therefore he is the most ordinary guy who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Judging by all the criteria, the film, of course, is not magical, but fascinating. Especially bright is the final scene-stage-narrator.
In general, the film needs to be seen, it will make us think, solve riddles, gives us chances to predict.
