Someone… Somewhere… Is made for you… In Bollywood, Dil To Pagal Hai became one of the last films of the greatest director, a classic of Indian cinema, a gold hit for all time. Of course, the work of genius, but it has its shortcomings.
My name is Rahul. Have you heard of me?
Shah Rukh Khan. So let's start with Rahul. Charming, charismatic, sometimes a little rough, but with an incredibly beautiful and bright dream and a firm and timid intention to bring it to life. Who's for Rahul Maya? Maya is everything.
Maya is a dream. Maya is the whole world.
I'm actually ashamed to admit it, but I think I'm starting to believe in love. I believe in love that doesn’t need words because everyone’s eyes will tell. I believe in the love that unites people forever, until death.
The capital’s demands on the star prevent Rahul from discovering his dream, from talking about his little illusion, far from flashy modernity, and he cherishes it year after year, approaching the moment of incarnation. That's Rahul after watching. And on the screen he is Shah Rukh.
I believe that God connects the destinies of people before they are born – people only need to meet. God creates people in pairs, everyone has his only life partner.
Madhuri Dixit. That's who I want to sing in this movie. It is not for me, who has watched 4 Madhuri films, to say that Dil To Pagal Hai is the pinnacle of her art and the best of her masterpieces, but I do know that no one else could bring Maya to the screen. Just Mads. Soft and strong, timid and mischievous (fell in love with Dekh Lo), dancing only for herself. In Madhuri, there is this sense of “delicious movement,” a life of dance, and it cannot be bribed or mesmerized. The girl of dreams and the girl-dream, born of the brilliant beauty Madhuri.
Karishma Kapoor Of course, Karishma is not beautiful, and her role, although strong, but a bit worn out. But in Crazy Heart, she's very, very sweet.
Rahul, stop joking! Ajay, you..
- Actually, that's what I've been called so far, but if you want, call me Rahul. You fat, fat, I love you! I missed you so much! . .
Akshay Kumar. Again, praise. In my opinion, the best character. Perhaps here lies a slight sense of incompleteness and misunderstanding of the film. Perhaps somewhere far abroad he has a reputation as a heartthrob, a successful business and a supposedly different life, but it all seems an illusion. Fake. The real Ajay is sweet, attentive, sensitive, caring, romantic. The warmest hero with the biggest heart who just shouldn't have been left alone.
Music.
Le Gayi. The main discovery for me is that there is Shahid Kapoor in this song! And this is the staged debut of Shiamak Dawar, which means the song is special to me. Shiamak is an amazing phenomenon for Bollywood, combining elements of modernity and tradition. This combination may seem ridiculous at times, but it may have been a breakthrough for Indian reality. As for Karishma, she is a smart girl and dances well. As for Shah Rukh, he is truly irresistible. Of course, costumes could be better thought out, and movements - worked out, but what is, that is. P.S. And it should be noted that as much as Karishme does not go this stupid ponytail, so it is irresistible with another hairstyle and in black robe. What stylists do.
Dil To Pagal Hai. Great title song. From my heart I admire the duet of Madhuri-Ajay (here it is again, the feeling that something is wrong here, providence has connected the wrong things). Young Akshai is just an unimaginable energy-atom bomb, like Madhuri. Here Karishma and Shah are friendship, and Akshai and Madhuri are love. It seems that only such mischievous songs (to unnecessary howls) and carelessly hacked moments fully reveal the heroes of the 90s, not long dialogue and glycerol tears.
The Dance of Envy. Very atmospheric. Before the competition. And then there's the Madhuri-Karishma controversy! Of course, Madhuri dances immeasurably tastier, but Karishma is quite good (although with such batmans it is not surprising that she managed to pull her ligaments). To be honest, quite primitive choreography, despite its progressiveness, therefore, takes a bewilderment: not too terrible battle turned out.
Arey Re Arey Yeh Kya Hua Stunningly light, gentle, airy melody and the best production not only of the film, but also of 1997. The heart freezes with admiration, and the head is torn between lovers Puja and Rahul and falling in love Puja and Rahul.
What is the meaning of "Crazy Heart"? It's a mix of Farah's incendiary dances, Shiamak's movement, Udit's soft voice and cute melodies. These are bright costumes, sparkling in the rays of searchlights, details-"highlights" and a beautiful story. This is Shah Rahul and his all-igniting energy, radiant smile and mesmerizing soft curls of Madhuri, to purring warm and cozy Akshai and childish, naive Nisha. And the big mystery of the whole story is, why didn't I like it? . .
I still can't understand that. On the one hand, yes, there are a lot of howling screams in the teeth at the most inopportune moments (in the dressing room I wanted to throw something very heavy in Uttama so that this torture would end as soon as possible), a lot of unnecessary scenes, without which it would be possible to do, a lot of ridiculous costumes (a whole scene of men in tight shorts - well this is the same ... it's ... there are no words) and not the most intelligent characters. But on the other, there is a great cast, a beautiful story, good music, the work of Yash Chopra, the incredible, stunning play-life of Madhuri, Shah Rukh. And putting all that magnificence back together, over and over, I still don't feel his own life. It’s all good, but it doesn’t take me to heart. Yes, I roar at the end, time after time, but there is no boundless admiration like after the Unstolen Bride, that cheer, that energy, that aftertaste.
And that feeling turns into uncertainty. The only bright minus of the film I would call ill-conceived, incomplete, brutal destruction of the story of Ajay – again, the warmest, sweetest, shortest and still incredibly bright character. I wanted to see them together, Ajay and Puja, and I wanted the story to split at some point and have two possible endings. You can't throw love in love stories like that.
In general, I tried to dump this bewilderment on anything, even on the color scheme, but the exact answer is not. After all, it's not that important. The movie is worth watching and will certainly hook many at least to the extent that it hooked me.
