History repeats itself twice, once as tragedy, and once as farce. The plot is completely similar to the first Rocky: the reigning champion needs a victory over Balboa to improve his rating (Balboa’s history, of course, he does not know). Naturally, the expectation of an easy victory, as before. A tired film about a tired Rocky, a tired son of Rocky, a tired friend of Rocky, a tired dog of Rocky, a tired champion, a tired Mike Tyson. The only thing better than before was the fight itself. It is much better than in the first parts. That's where the pros end.
The legendary return of the beloved and legendary boxer Rocky Balboa was crowned with success. 16 years after the 5th part of Rocky, this film was released. What do I want to say about cinema in general? Stallone doesn't look tired at all and it's nice to see how much he really enjoys playing the role. The plot does not look clumsy and banal. Rocky has retired, but the thoughts of boxing do not let him go. Flashbacks shown in the film emphasize the atmosphere and dynamism. As for the atmosphere, it reminded me of the first movie. If the 3rd part is similar to 1 because of the dialogue, then this picture is exactly the atmosphere, some cozy vibe, and a lot of classical composition is similar to 1 film.
There’s a lot of music, and that’s cool because there’s almost no music in some parts.
I really liked the "Antagonist" of the film. And again, he is very similar to Apollo Creed, who later became a friend of Rocky. True, all the so-called "Villains" of Rocky's films were the same, evil, with one facial expression, but immediately showed a completely different person. Absolutely simple, which in nature even resembles Rocky himself.
Overall, the picture looks just fine, and it’s a really interesting and very original continuation of the cult franchise.
Rocky Balboa is a sports drama film starring Sylvester Stallone, based on a script written by him. This film is the sixth installment in the Rocky series.
The history of boxer Rocky Balboa is known to almost everyone, and even those who are far from the sport. Such qualities as: perseverance, willpower and unbending spirit are directly associated with films about this boxer.
The character of Sylvester Stallone has gone through a very difficult life path. He has proved to the world that he is a champion. And here it is not even in training and strong physical exertion, but rather in the willpower, in the spirit of a real person, strong, kind in heart and soul, a simple guy who managed to rise from the bottom. His rivals were the best of the best. In the ring he always had a hard time, as his opponents were much bigger and stronger. They beat him just with their fists, and Rocky put more than just punches into his fights - he fought with his heart. Naturally, the severe blows that Rocky received could not but affect his health. He decided to end his career as a boxer.
Many years after the events of the fifth film in the life of Rocky there were many changes: the beloved wife Adrian died, boxing and coaching careers have long been finished, Balboa devotes himself to the restaurant business, but this occupation does not alleviate the bitterness of loss. Wanting to shake up his life, the main character decides to return to his favorite business, namely: to perform in the amateur ring, not suspecting that this will lead to a fight for which life did not prepare him.
One of the sports channels shows computer simulations of the fight between young Rocky and Mason. Mason Dixon is the reigning world heavyweight boxing champion. The fight ends in favor of the first. This fight inspires Rocky to return to boxing and he regains his license.
In this film, more emphasis is placed not even on the fight itself, but on the main character than he lives, what is happening in his soul. Thoughts about the past haunt him. He understands that time passes, and age makes itself felt. But he truly believes in himself. This film is about a man who wants to prove to himself that he is capable of many things. A person does not age while he is young at heart - these are the words that can be described as the "people's champion".
Speaking of music, it’s amazing. Branded footage of training and preparations for the upcoming fight under the legendary musical accompaniments of Bill Conti hardly left anyone indifferent. Each time this music awakens a lot of delightful emotions, and the video almost makes you push up and pull up with Rocky.
And in general, not only the music, but the plot of the entire franchise “Rocky” was filled with deep meaning. They could always inspire people to do something. And after watching, involuntarily, thoughts arise in my head that I too can do something important for myself and for others, only if I put in “a little” effort.
To sum up, I want to say that this whole story teaches you to be strong in every sense of the word. You should never be afraid of the difficulties of life, you should hold your position firmly, do not give up - always go to the end and believe in the dream. If you lack motivation, strength, desire, then, of course, I recommend this film to watch.
“It doesn’t matter how you hit, it matters how you hit, how you move forward. If you go, go! If you don't get scared... That's how they win! Very strong words that Rocky addressed to his son. When you read these lines, the tremors run through the body. If we talk about the whole speech, then it is she who makes you rethink many things in your life. If you're wondering what Rocky was trying to convey to his son with this speech, isn't that a reason to watch the entire masterpiece?
Like many people, I grew up on Rocky movies. They were the ones who motivated me to start boxing. However, I did not want to watch the film Rocky Balboa for a long time, because after the failed, in my opinion, the fifth part I did not expect anything good from it. As it turned out, I wrote off old Sly in vain.
In this film, as in all previous parts, boxing fades a little into the background, giving way to drama. The main character has aged, his beloved wife Adrian has died, and relations with his son are far from as warm as before. Every day, Rocky goes to his restaurant, named after his wife, where he tells visitors dusty boxing stories from his career.
He lives with memories and it seems that from the "iron" Rocky's got nothing left. However, an Italian stallion proves that the fire that blazed inside him throughout his life has not gone out. And if in the ring he is not so strong, then in the soul he is still invincible and ready to take a hit.
That's what Rocky teaches his son. He used to blame his father and his name for all his failures. But in his eloquent monologue, Rocky explains to him, and to all viewers, that "this is what cowards do." This picture compares favorably with other films about muzzle. She teaches the younger generation that “it’s not how hard you hit, but how hard you hit.”
As for the scenes of the final fight, it is impossible not to praise Stallone. At that time, he was already over 60 years old, but he looked no worse than boxing veterans Mike Tyson and Roy Jones, who not so long ago arranged a show fight with each other. But Antonio Tarver, who played Mason Dixon, can not say so. If I did not know that he is a former IBO world champion in the first heavyweight, I would think that this is some actor nouneim, who did not bother himself in the gym before shooting.
When the judges announced the winner in the final, I was intrigued and feared that Rocky would win. It would have ruined the whole movie and turned it into a fairy tale where the old man who pours the sand beats the reigning world champion. But Sly is not a fool and put competent in every sense of the final. After all, in the end, the main thing for Rocky was not to win, but to prove to himself that, as his old friend Polly noted during the film, “something remained inside.”
In short, for me personally, this is one of the best films with Stallone, which once again proved that he is not only a talented actor, but also a great director. His picture is a visual guide, urging not to give up and, despite everything, gritting your teeth, go to your goal.

If you know what you are worth, go and get yours! But be ready to take the punches.
Revisited the famous film series 'Rocky' and stopped with the desire to write a review of this film.
The great Rocky Balboa has once again stepped away from his main business, opening a small restaurant in his honor, telling stories about boxing and answering customer questions, he spends most of his time. But due to the tragic circumstances, this cannot completely fill the void in his soul. In parallel, finding out the relationship with his son, he decides to return to the sport, in order to prove that he can do something else.
It's hard not to mention Stallone's progress. The direction has become much better, and his character has also changed. It is obvious that he gained experience, wisdom, which allows him to be not only a legendary fighter, but also a good mentor, father, and good friend. In this part I was pleasantly surprised by the antagonist. Here he is surprisingly not a wild showman who strives for fame and money, but a young champion who has not yet knocked his mind out of his head. He respects the old school and does not chase fame, he is looking for equal rivals, which is what Rocky will become for him. Of course, Stallone already looks ridiculous in the ring, but given his age, this is forgivable. In general, the same motivating Rocky that was before.

For Sylvester Stallone, the role of boxer Rocky Balboa means virtually his entire career. He can play anyone, including Vietnam veteran John Rambo, Judge Dredd and many other heroes, but Balboa has always been closest to him. Firstly, because he once invented it from scratch, secondly, all rock movies invariably collected good money at the box office and, finally, this is a real symbol of the struggle that Stallone never gave up.
Between 1999 and 2005, Stallone’s career was something utterly disastrous. His films failed at the box office, serious producers deleted his name from the list of stars of the first magnitude and it seemed that on the further conquest of the Dream Factory you can put an end. But Stallone did not give up, again sat down at the table and wrote the script for the film ' Rocky Balboa' And it is not at all scary that the actor was already 60 years old. A true warrior doesn't give up.
We meet the elderly Rocky, who has long given up boxing and manages his restaurant, while his son is in no hurry to communicate with him, and only old Polly remains of loyal friends. Not trying to get involved in any adventure, Rocky modestly performs his duties in his own institution and tells guests about his past fights, but once boxing again overtakes Balboa and becomes the key to his return to the ring as an athlete, but not a coach.
The computer simulation conducted a fight between young Rocky and a modern champion and for the latter the conclusions are disappointing. In this regard, the manager of the champion decided to organize an impromptu show fight, in which Rocky should participate. And since for Balboa sport is life, he can not refuse such an interesting idea.
Sylvester Stallone was responsible for the script and direction of the film. He also played a major role and created the project of his dreams. And I like it because the plot is saturated with positivity and faith in yourself and your future achievements. Maybe Rocky is old, but he has not lost his morale and continues to amaze. He is as interesting as he was when he was young. He even had more wisdom.
Not bad training here and the fight itself. Of course, I am not a great expert in sports and especially boxing, but it seemed to me that Stallone squeezed everything from his story. It's catchy, it's dynamic and it's fun.
The sixth Rocky movie is a must see if you’ve seen all of the past parts or are looking for something interesting for the evening. These are the real heroes who achieve everything with sweat and blood.

Having reached incredible career heights and become one of the main pillars of the Hollywood action genre, Sylvester Stallone still could not so easily forget about the film that allowed him to become one of the highest paid and iconic actors who ever sparkled at the Dream Factory. We are talking about the cult “Rocky” directed by John Avildsen, which appeared on the screens in 1976 and literally blew up the rental. The idea at that time completely unknown Sylvester Stallone, who wrote the script and played the title role in the film, was so winning that the American Film Academy gave the creators many nominations and even gave the crew three absolutely deserved Oscars. Stallone subsequently decided to continue the story of one of the most iconic characters in his career, bringing the number of Rocky films to the level of five, after which the actor focused on completely different images and projects that have nothing to do with boxing. And yet, at the dawn of the new century, when Stallone’s position in the Hollywood sky began to falter because of a number of insecure paintings such as “The Racer” and “Detoxification”, he again turned to his glorious past and considered that a solid age is not a hindrance to Balboa returned to the ring. Traditionally taking on the duties of the main playwright of the series, Stallone was inspired by the experience of professional boxer George Foreman, who set a record in the category of age winning the title of world champion, and made a very charming projection on the biography of Rocky Balboa, who for years did not wear gloves, but was ready to return to battle if there is a worthy reason for this. And since the image of Rocky, even after many years since his last appearance on the screens, had an incredible appeal for the audience, the producers who put a cross on Stallon were not afraid to allocate enough funding for the filming, confirming him not only as a leading actor and director. So the sixth part of the adventures of the most famous cinematic boxer of America, entitled as “Rocky Balboa”, with triumph was in the widest box office and showed that some stories and heroes are simply unable to become obsolete.
So, the plot of the film unfolds years after Rocky Balboa (Stallone) held his last duel and was forced to face no less dangerous challenges of fate, which can not be resolved by fists alone. Having lost most of his fortune, the location of his grown-up son Robert (Milo Ventimiglia) and the opportunity to be close to his beloved wife Adrianne (Thalia Shire), Rocky almost broke, but his inner core was too strong, and he continued to live, opening a small themed restaurant and warmly communicating with longtime acquaintances, for whom he is not a celebrity, but just a good friend. Trying to look for something positive and cheerful in every day, Rocky was also not averse to making new romantic acquaintances, even though his love for Adrianne did not fade. But the most interesting thing in the everyday life of the aged boxer was brought by a computer program that simulated the fight of the current boxing champion Mason Dixon (Antonio Tarver) with Balboa during his sports heyday. Inspired by the spectacle seen on the screen, Rocky decides that he still has enough strength for the last throw and, contrary to the opinion of skeptics, begins to prepare for the next fight, in which the opponent of the hero will be the same Mason Dixon, whose managers believed that their ward would be useful to hold an exhibition fight with a true idol of the public. However, professional boxing before the announcement of the results can be considered akin to a real war. In this regard, Rocky will have to do the virtually impossible and reverse the course of time itself, which seeks to finally remove him from the ring.
Stallone came to work in Rocky Balboa at a very solid age, surpassing even the data that could be gleaned from the film. However, tired of artistic box office failures, the actor is determined to prove that in his 60s he is not inferior to younger and physically tough colleagues, eager to finally send the old guard to the reserve. Having lived hand in hand with the image of Rocky for several decades, Stallone perfectly felt all his experiences and tried to present them as accurately as possible on the screen. From the former raging emotions in the heart of Balboa not a trace remains. Earlier, he wanted to prove by all means that he is the best and the victory over Apollo Creed in the second match is absolutely natural, but now the hero wants only peace, communication with those who are dear to him and achieving mutual understanding with his son, who sprang out of his parental nest and does not strive to return to the past. This is the emphasis of the film, and they really deserve attention, because together with Stallone, Rocky has grown up, who managed to curb feelings and began to understand the construction of a life path like never before. However, despite all the heartache and aspirations of Rocky Balboa, Stallone knows perfectly well what fans do not want from them and gives them exactly what they lost in Rocky 5. Namely, the combative, inflexible Balboa, who holds fate in his own hands and never bows his head before the most difficult challenges of fate.
Forcing himself to disappear for months in the gym, Sylvester Stallone again reached an outstanding physical form, to which even with age adjustment it is impossible to put the slightest claims. So in the ring, Rocky Balboa looks no less spectacular than his opponent in the performance of professional boxer Antonio Tarvera. Gradually bringing the story under the climactic duel, the creators, both before and now, did not really count on putting a believable fight, because Rocky has always been famous for its incredible dramatic twists and turns that accompany the climax. Of course, Stallone is not as easy as before to keep the stamp and carry out a series of crushing blows, but he kept in front of Tarver well and sometimes reminded himself of thirty years ago, when there was no question of heaviness in the legs, and any dissection did not prevent him from applying uppercuts and jabs with the accuracy of a professional sniper. In turn, Antonio Tarver perfectly understood what the authors wanted from him and decided to play by the rules of a cinematic duel in order to organically fit into the world of Rocky, which is characterized by extremely spectacular and dramatic boxing. And Tarver kept in the frame so confident and cheerful that there is no doubt that he got a real pleasure from the work of Stallone, securing even more fans.
In the end, I want to say that Rocky Balboa came out as a true farewell to the invincible champion with the career of the acting on-screen boxer. And Sylvester Stallone did what it took to get Rocky out of the ring to a barrage of applause.
When there was a picture of Tall Blonde in a Black Shoe on TV in France, the next day someone stopped me and said, ‘Oh, look, you’ve grown so old since yesterday. What happened to you?” And I said, "It's been 40 years, you idiot." Pierre Richard
From the very first shots before the eyes of the viewer appears a little unusual Rocky: aged and wise experience. In his eyes, sadness slips, a sarcastic smile plays on his lips, and humor sounds in words: subtle, deep, and filled with that generous irony that can only come from a life-lived and experienced person. Having defeated all rivals and achieved in life everything that a simple street guy from a poor neighborhood could ever dream of, Balboa faced an opponent that even he could not defeat. This enemy is fate, fate, or simply time, which took his wife from him, separated him from his grown-up son and left him only memories for comfort. And it's not Rocky's fault he's single. There is a well-known motivating aphorism: “What you build for years, someone will destroy overnight.” You still build it. This phrase seems very appropriate in the context of Balboa's life. The latter was an exemplary husband and father, and the rest did not depend on him. Had Rocky’s son been born as mentally and physically strong as he was, Balboa Jr. would not have developed inferiority complexes because of his father’s successes, and there would have been no gulf between the two. Had Adrian not been sick, they would still be together.
Rocky Balboa is the most dramatic and psychological film of all the Rocky epic. The title itself distinguishes this part from a series of prequels: instead of traditional numbers (Rocky 2, Rocky 3, Rocky 4, Rocky 5), the surname of the main character is given. This tape, summing up the whole life of Balboa, more than all previous paintings focused on his soul. The action takes place in Philadelphia. All that remains of the legendary boxer are memories, his restaurant, which he named in honor of his deceased wife, and his brother-in-law Polly, reminding him of past days. As is usually the case with people with an eventful past, the “sunset” stage is morally the most difficult. The soul longs for a time when there were ups and downs, for then life had taste. But this time will not return, as well as irretrievably gone dear people. In appearance, it may mistakenly seem that Rocky is pacified and does not seek anywhere else, but, as it turns out later, there is still gunpowder in the powderboxes. Being a young body, Rocky remains at heart as daring, fervent and restless in the good sense of the word, as he was about “-twenty” years ago. To show this, Stallone puts Balboa back in the ring, despite, or rather despite, the fact that Balboa has already crossed the fifty-year mark. The fight is the traditional climax episode of Rocky Tapes. In this case, it carries a slightly different plot load than in previous films. The fight here is not needed as an “end in itself”, but solely for the better disclosure of the inner world of the hero. Rocky is still able to “set the heat” even for a young and strong fighter, and it is not about muscles, although everything is fine with them, but about fortitude. It is thanks to this quality that he previously defeated physically stronger opponents.
The sixth tape is very different from its predecessors, but the character of the hero himself, although aged, has changed little. In the actions of the character, you can easily recognize the young Rocky from the first films. There are many examples of this, take at least a small episode with the choice of a dog. Rocky likes the weakest and most pathetic dog: it shows the kindness of the hero and his desire to help and warm up. How similar it is to how Balboa, many years ago, fixed his gaze on Adrian, his future wife. Such a sequence of actions and their correspondence to the general temperament of the boxer throughout all six films is a necessary consequence of the fact that the films have one screenwriter. Sly feels his character like no one else: Rocky is his brainchild, in which Stallone put his soul.
Despite the sadness, the film was positive and moving. The picture is a classic example of a drama about loneliness. It seems to be shrouded in nostalgia, created both by the atmosphere itself (the scene often moves to the poor neighborhood from which Rocky emerged in the very first film), and flashbacks from past films. “Nostalgic” is diluted in time with a fresh stream: a character from the very first movie is brought to the stage: a grown-up and much prettier girl from the doorway once. A sincere sympathy and friendship is formed between her and Balboa, which will give the viewer a lot of interesting and witty dialogues and pleasant moments. It is also worth noting that since the removal of past tapes, Rocky’s sense of humor has significantly increased, which is an additional plus, and in general a separate highlight.
People always watch with interest the return of their idols and true legends of their childhood. Like in real life or on the big screen. Of course, with a certain kind of fear about the quality of return and compliance with well-coordinated requirements, but still. This is probably what the director of this film Sylvester Stallone expected to play when, after 16 years from the release of the last part of the franchise on the screens, he decided to return Rocky Balboa to the screens. Rocky Balboa, whose role gave a ticket to Hollywood even then unknown to anyone. Moreover, completing the screen story of the life of the Italian stallion exactly as he deserves it.
It cannot but be bribed that the film tries to match the spirit of the original tape as much as possible. It’s great to know that after a few trials and mistakes, the Rocky franchise has regained the spirit of a sports drama, not a spectacular action movie or a summer blockbuster. The golden years of Rocky’s boxing career are far behind us. He survived the death of his beloved wife and lost his relationship with his own son. Health has long gone to hell, but the soul requires a new fight and he gets it.
Of course, it catches the eye that the plot of the picture repeats the plot of the original tape as much as possible. But at the same time, he allows himself freedom both in changing the details and the course of the plot development. In doing so, leaving intact the immutable ideology and morality of the entire franchise. "Rocky" has always been a film about courage, courage, courage and incredible resilience, and it feels very much here. Having survived a good ten, Rocky is not afraid to shake the old days and will face a younger and stronger opponent in confrontation and this again raises the moral appearance of the picture to a new level. That is, to say the most important thing. No one should ever be allowed to label you and decide your fate for themselves. It’s up to you whether you win or if you lose forever. Through pain, sweat, suffering and suffering, you can never give up and give up and this lesson is once again presented to us by Rocky Balboa performed by Sylvester Stallone.
From a visual point of view, the film was much more modest than its predecessors. On the screen there is no beautiful and stylish clip manner of shooting. Moreover, the entertainment and epic in the framework of the genre of action film. But this is what gives the picture a certain kind of realistic color. In fact, as well as an incredibly decent final, which I personally consider very correct and as honest as possible. After all, ending everything with a traditional happy ending, it would turn out a frank cranberry.
Can not but admire the physical form Sylvester Stallone, which is similar to the return of his hero Rocky Balboa to a boxing career. Sylvester not only played Rocky once again, but literally lived his life on the screen. You see the same athlete, whose best years are far behind, but at the same time finding the strength to move on and give odds to even younger generations. It is this image of Stallone that deserves both physically and from the point of view of acting. On top of everything, seeing Bert Young and Tony Burton again in canonical images for myself, I even let a stingy tear of joy.

Rocky Balboa is exactly the right point in the history of boxer Rocky Balboa, which should have been the fifth film of the franchise. A very firmly staged sports drama, which returned to its origins and did not turn into an ordinary spectacular blockbuster caused truly pleasant and nostalgic emotions when watching the picture.
The film became a kind of finish line under the legendary franchise, which began its way in the distant 70s. It is now known that Creed will soon be released, but there the same Italian stallion will no longer fight, he will train.
"Rocky Balboa," no matter what anyone says about Sly's decrepitude and loss of physical condition, only once again emphasizes: Stallone is still in good shape and his commitment to sport and boxing in particular has not gone away. No wonder the actor was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame for merits in the promotion of this sport.
Stallone, as a symbol of the 80s and 90s, the idol of boys of that time, although he has aged, still remains Rocky, a favorite of all Philadelphia, America and the world.
Rocky, the one who beat Apollo Creed many years ago, knocked out Ivan Drago and fought Clabber Lang, still prefers training at home. As in the previous parts, he circles around Philadelphia, completing his journey on the stairs leading to the art city museum.
Under the immortal hit Gonna fly now, you want to run either next to the indomitable Rocky, or, take an example from him and just run around your city and raise your hands victoriously up.
The film shows that sport has a place everywhere. The main thing is that there is a desire. You may not visit advanced fitness centers, but you can lie down and pump up the abs, take the emphasis lying down and push up a dozen or two, put on sneakers and whitewash your residential quarter.
The main thing is desire.
Especially prominent in the film is the father-son conversation as Rocky mentors his Robert. Phrases that have flown from Sly’s lips are very revealing and, like scenes with training, can and should become a very good and effective motivator. “If you give a slack, the world will overturn you so that you will not stand up,” “no one beats as hard as life,” “it is important how you hold the blow,” “until you believe in yourself, life will not exist.” "Don't forget to visit your mother" - very vital and touching. Even now, listening to these words again, the heart involuntarily shrinks, and tears turn on the eyes.
A great sports drama that tells how legends retire. Bravo Rocky, Bravo Sylvester!
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
It’s time for the champion to hang his gloves. The last fight, the last opportunity to show that you are worth something in a fair fight.
Sports became little, more emotional experiences of the hero, more suffering and grief for Adrian, but I am not sure that it did not benefit the plot. Perhaps another film filled with training and fights would have been perceived completely differently. Stallone deserves the utmost respect for keeping himself fit, because of all the heroes of my childhood, he is the best preserved, even though he is older. And in this film he played, without exaggeration, great.
The plot about modern under-champions is very relevant and successful, because this is really a problem of modern boxing. Now the favorites of any fight are not at all afraid of their opponent, because the outcome is decided before the fight. Stallone raises an important challenge for all athletes – how to bring back the sport, when opponents fought as if their lives depended on it, how to restore the fear of defeat to both sides, making it so that fighters fight for victory for real. The answer is simple: old school.
All the characters of the film are very harmonious, each performer is in his place. We are delighted with the appearance of Iron Mike and the legendary Michael Buffer. Good work of the operator, and again music, music and again music.
My personal opinion is that the scenes with Little Mary are a little drawn out, and Rocky Jr.'s character and behavior are too sharp.
This is probably point

P.S. Honestly, I would really like another film, I think all the fans of Rocky Balboa would welcome it with great joy and enthusiasm, because Stallone is still in great shape ... and Lundgren is not that bad.
It would seem that after the failure of the audience’s view of the film “Rocky 4” (seven nominations for “Golden Raspberry” in 1986, three of them were won), but not financially (the film in the world box office justified itself as much as 10 times!) it was necessary to stop. Sylvester Stallone, who became the unshakable Colossus of boxing in cinema, could calmly say goodbye to the image that gave him life in cinema. But five years later, the viewer could already familiarize himself with the return to the arena of Rocky Balboa, the same Italian stallion, however, this time he defended his title not in the ring. And “Rocky 5”, despite the return of the director of the first triumphant part of Avildsen, again received an average rating of “satisfactory”. That's enough, Sly, leave it in the memory of that indomitable Rocky. But the money does its own after 16 years (!!!) Rocky is back in front of us.
But there are a huge number of fans in the world, and it is impossible to argue with this, the unsurpassed Rocky Balboa, so the announcement that the next part will soon be released, telling not only about success in the professional ring, but also about the life circumstances of the most modest boxer in the world, was received with some even enthusiasm. The viewer is used to watching the Rocky family, how he gets out of the circumstances, but his fame inevitably haunts him, which every time Rocky proves that he is still strong. You can even argue that if Mike Tyson himself said that he was ready to conduct a show fight, not a title fight, then the TV screens would gather a huge audience, which is also beyond doubt. Practically this was the emphasis of Sylvester Stallone, who not only played the main role, but also returned to the duties of chief director.
Among the neighborhoods where Rocky Balboa survived before he became a celebrity, he built a small restaurant "Adrian's U" in honor of his late wife. So, Sylvester Stallone, like everything else and the screenwriter of the franchise, decided not to depart from absolutely human moments, like, say, even the death of loved ones. In all parts Adrian played Talia Shire, sister of Francis Ford Coppola. It's getting a little uncomfortable, because Rocky's greatest victories are thanks to his wife, for her. But in the case of Rocky Balboa, now his meaning of life has become a son who is somewhat shy of his father, because his pride is wounded: he is always in the shadow of his father. While Rocky is struggling to build a relationship with Rocky Jr. Adrian’s older brother, Paulie, visits the restaurant all the time, but he continues to drink a lot. In general, Rocky has a lot left to chance, until a simulated fight with the new boxing champion Mason Dixon was shown on television and Rocky wins. Confluence of circumstances and unsurpassed favorite of the audience in the ring. A parallel storyline moves a romantic romance, which begins at Rocky with one girl, whom he long ago accompanied home, and taught life.
Sylvester Stallone, and everyone noticed it, noticeably passed. It’s not Rocky anymore, and no surgeries are helping Stallone return to the form that franchise fans are used to. Skilled experience is good, but again in the ring – it is not the case. Although, the image is the same and nice to see calm and even modest Rocky with his low voice and short phrases. He was in the ring, but already that rise, euphoria did not cause and this is the fault of Sly. Rocky's son was played by Milo Ventimiglia. Honestly, to me, this actor is a walking disaster. Wherever he does not appear, the film is not the best. It was both Chaos Theory (not to be confused with the series) and Dad Dosvidos, basically like black forces over Ventimiglia. But this film is one of the best in his film biography, although noticeably lost with his storyline son even the new attitude of the screen father, and the game was even worse. It is a pity that the real son of Sylvester Stallone, who played in the fifth Rocky, died so early, maybe he would have been better. Burt Young, playing Paulie, this one's always the same. And he's nostalgic for the best days of the Rocky franchise. And I really liked Geraldine Hughes, who became the sympathy of Rocky, much better was her storyline than Rocky and his son.
Rocky Balboa somehow holds the brand of the best franchise about a boxer, and maybe about an athlete in general. There is no strong emotion, except nostalgia, but it is very well emphasized in Rocky Balboa. But still remember the fight with Apollo Creed.

P.S.: In January 2016, Rocky Balboa will return to us, will become the coach of the son of his enemy friend, he is called “Rocky 7”, although you could leave the original title “Creed”. However, in the stated actors there is no heroine Geraldine Hughes, but I would like to...
Time does not spare anyone, especially if you stand still!
Rocky Balboa is a perfect example of who we are and what we stand for in life. Each person is unique and unique in the fact that there are no similar ones anywhere in the universe. Only often do we forget about it and follow the paths that lead us away from our desires, goals, dreams! We are ruled by society and fear. Fear of being misunderstood, rejected unlike others. Who are these others? Who are they to tell us how to live and who to be?
Rocky has always overcome his fears. He didn't fight him, no, he just beat him! The greatest happiness in life is when you live as you wish. It's the freedom to be yourself. Everything in our world has a name, but you can never name what you give to this world and how you live in it! It is only your universe and it is all in your hearts.
Actors. Sylvester Stallone: His Rocky, just as young, full of fire and thirst for life! Not only does he carry this fire, but he also carries it to others. Good job! The other actors were also on top! In general, it seemed that each actor, with great pleasure spent the day on the set.
The movie! The way to the stars is always thorny! There is no such person on earth who would succeed with ease in all spheres of life. And, if you suddenly lose faith in yourself, if life strikes you blow after blow, deviate, and then with renewed force send it to the knockout! Either you rule the world or the world rules you. The film perfectly reflects the drama, struggle and the main philosophy of our being! I enjoyed watching and listening to the dialogue! There was no external tension or drama! Everything we needed to see and feel was told by Rocky himself. Everything was read in his eyes, actions and memory!
A worthy conclusion to the story of a man who sent every blow of life to the kaout. Happy journey, Rocky Balboa.
10 out of 10
The best film from the epic about boxer Rocky Balboa, and quite possibly the best among all the films Stallone. This is a psychological drama that intertwines Rocky’s loneliness after the loss of his wife and the conflict of generations caused by Robert’s phobias about his place in life. This sports drama (even taking into account the fact that the fight in the tape is indicative and charitable) is quite high in intensity. This is a melodrama, a separate stream woven into the script (Rocky’s relationship with baby Marie) and even gave a certain highlight to the film, which makes the tape look even more realistic.
Compared to previous epic films, this tape is no longer interesting in terms of hype due to boxing, although this moment is also present, but the main thing in the film is expressed in the dialogue between father and son.
-"
...
The main thing is not how hard you can hit, but how hard you can withstand the blow!
The picture makes you think, make an inventory of memory, relationships with the world, positive and negative agreements with life, look into the mirror in our subconscious and answer the question: can I hold a punch? And this question should not mean a physical blow, rather we are talking about an emotional and psychological blow, because life is a very cruel thing and it sometimes does not forgive those who do not cope with its blows.
As for the actual fight between Rocky and the young champion, although it is essentially the culmination of the film, it should not be taken literally. It is rather a kind of appeal to the viewer, a symbolism aimed at strengthening the will, an attempt to include protective mechanisms in our minds. The uniqueness of this fight is that it was shot with a high degree of professionalism.
And it doesn't matter how it ends, it's much more important how much we can keep up with the blows of life.
In the mid-2000s Sylvester Stallone - a famous Hollywood actor and director, behind whom there were dozens of roles in action films and several Golden Raspberry awards, dared for the sixth time to appear in the role of boxer Rocky Balboa. The new project was a chance for Sly (who was in his seventh decade) to prove to the audience what he is still capable of in his years (besides shooting in second-rate action films and family comedies). The role of Rocky Balboa made once of the unknown Stallone millionaire and Hollywood star. Who, if not Rocky Balboa could bring Sly back to work in the big movie and demonstrate to the modern audience that Stallone’s time has not gone, and that he is not a rolling star of action movies of the 80s and 90s? Once consisting of five films, the Rocky franchise was a cult film series, which has grown more than one generation of viewers. Not all parts were masterpieces, but definitely each of them was interesting in its own way. Therefore, to create a new story about “Italian stallion” Sylvester put all his efforts (even again sat down in the director’s chair). The result of a long and painstaking work was the sports drama Rocky Balboa. And, in my opinion, this title of the film goes more than the banal “Rocky 6”. With all due respect to the entire franchise, the sequel 2006 still stands out from the rest of the parts and looks quite independent.
The focus of the final film of the saga is the story of former boxer Rocky Balboa, who, despite his age, is still young at heart. After surviving Adrian, Rocky unsuccessfully tries to establish a relationship with an adult son who somehow avoids meeting with his father. The only thing left for the decorated boxing veteran is to indulge in the memories of his youth, walking around Philadelphia and telling stories to visitors of his own restaurant. But few people know that the main desire of Rocky is the desire to “let off steam” in the ring, and when there is such a chance to spend the last fight in his life, Rocky without thinking, agrees to it.
I think the idea of showing Rocky in our time is very good. But the main thing was to implement it correctly. Stallone, I think it worked. His character, at first glance, is far from understanding modern life. Even when talking to young people, it feels like he's stuck in the '70s. But whatever the modern moral and family values, Rocky is still able to adapt to them. This drama about a man of different temper, other values is one of the current themes of modern cinema.
In addition to Stallone, the film also features Burt Young (Polly), Tony Barton (Duke), as well as Pedro Lovell (Spider Rico from the first part) from the original series. Unfortunately, time did not spare them either. But, fortunately, they played their roles quite well.
Of the actors of the “new generation” remembered Geraldine Hughes (“baby” Marie) and Milo Ventimiglia (Robert Balboa). I don’t know why these roles went to the wrong actors who played them before, but it was nice to see Hughes working with Ventimiglia. If the storyline of Rocky-Marie showed the breadth of warm friendships between single people who did not grow into something more, the line of relationship between father and son is a traditional conflict of generations. But, accustomed to steadfastly endure blows, Rocky will not break, seeing the attitude of his son to himself and will do everything possible to achieve harmony and mutual understanding.
As in the previous film, the role of on-screen opponent Rocky Stallone invited a famous professional boxer. They turned out to be Antonio Tarver, winner of the 1996 Olympic Games and former world champion in light heavyweight. But compared to Tommy Morrison (the hero of Rocky 5), Tarver's acting was weaker. Although Stallone simply did not develop Tarver’s character, giving him the opportunity to box more than to show emotion outside the ring. As a result, the fight between Balboa and Dixon turned out to be a spectacular duel, which is very similar to what is shown on television. Focusing all the forces on the storyline of Rocky, the creators still gave the opportunity to look at the hero of Tarver. Essentially, Dixon is a character to be sympathized with. A successful career as a heavyweight boxer does not always mean the love of the audience. So Mason Dixon, who knocks out opponents in the first rounds, found himself in a position where his victories were more like fictitious than those obtained by sweat and blood. So a fight with a living boxing legend like Rocky Balboa would be a chance for Dixon to prove to the audience that Balboa’s stubbornness in the ring can make the reigning champion sweat (although viewer rating was not a priority for Mason). Mutual respect in the ring of two of the best boxers of different eras - that's what Dixon, deprived of ambition, aspires to.
Rocky Balboa is an interesting and spectacular sports drama in its own way, which is not a spit in the direction of the previous parts. On the contrary, it is a great gift not only to fans of the saga, but also to those who have not watched any part before. Let Stallone grow old and is not in such great physical shape as before - the main thing is that he is still the same stubborn, inflexible person with a strong character, in whom there is still a passion for the last fight in his life.
- Polly, I let the beast out. Everyone, the beast is free.
For me, all the films about Rocky are a standard of a real franchise, which is not shot in order to “spin money”, but in order to show the future fate of a strong (spiritual) person. After all, the way Rocky started doesn't sound like an accident, luck. This is all the effort of a person, a good person who trains hard and tries to go his way.
So many years have passed, now Rocky has only memories, unfortunately, he lives yesterday, because only yesterday was success, yesterday you were young, yesterday your wife was alive, yesterday there was a little son to take care of. Today, Rocky has his own restaurant, he still has a lot of fans, he is respected, he tells visitors stories from his life. His son, growing up, avoids his father, he has been living in the shadows for so many years. Rocky, unfortunately, is lonely. But he still has that fire inside him, he has the tiger's look.
After watching all the parts, there is a little sad feeling. Because just yesterday, I was watching the first part, I was watching where Rocky started, that life was more like an existence, in subsequent films, we watched his joys and sorrows. And now it's all over.
Summing up, I want to say that Stallone showed us a really tough man who, after all the experience, remained simple, kind. His teachings to his son even inspired me. After all, it really does not matter how many blows you get, the main thing is how hard a blow you are able to withstand and move on.
This is not a movie for me. This is life!
P.S. The prototype of Rocky Balboa in this film was George Foreman. Everything is possible in this world.
And this slogan exactly reflects not only the hero of Rocky, but Sly himself, who after a certain lull decided to take up the good old and make a film about Balboa, and then Rambo.
Those five parts might be considered a complete movie, but the new Rocky is a completely different story, a new movie, a changed life. It has been 16 years since then. Nevertheless, it was nice to come back and experience what once brought us pleasure from watching, those cult films that later we watched many times.
In the movie Rocky Balboa, of course, Sly has already aged, here we see a dramatic story from his current life, and of course, what professional boxing can be like in such years. Therefore, throughout the film, with the exception of the final stretch, there will be no fights, however, as in some previous parts, but if earlier he was a young real athlete, then here is a completely different picture, he is already engaged in his own restaurant, in general everything has changed. Nevertheless, the film is still reduced to a duel, of course, not with the component that previously, and also more sluggish, but the development of this drama will be interesting, Rocky is alive!
In the film, several famous people from the world of boxing were filmed and here they play themselves. Mike Tyson, ring announcer Michael Buffer, referee Joe Cortez, promoter Lou DiBella, commentators Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant. I want to talk about Antonio Tarvera. The real famous boxer, who does not seem to age as young as he was, and now he is over 40, his facial features have not changed at all. In the film, he played Rocky's main rival, Mason Dixon. By the way, after a certain time after the release of the picture, the heroes never parted. Tarver sued the filmmakers, including Stallon, who owed him about $1.5 million in bonuses. So the story continued in real life. Moreover, if we transfer again to the real world, Sylvester Stallone was inducted into the boxing hall of fame, for popularizing this sport, through a cult film, and the most distinguished people from the real world of boxing get there. The audience shouted Rocky loudly.
I’ve been watching this movie many times, but for me personally it’s the weakest part of the Balboa movies. Time passed, but it was nice to see.
Old, good Rocky Balboa is back on our screens. A lot changed after the 5th part, grew up son and died his wife, being a widower Rocky Balboa did not give up and lived. He opened his own small restaurant in Fellodelphia in honor of Adreana. Something was tormenting inside Rocky, and he decided on the last fight of his life! As a result, I liked the film, I can’t say anything bad, the film was shot in the new century and parts are not similar to each other, Stallone got old and in order not to derail his fans, he made a prolongation of the cult film Rocky. But as it turned out, most of the audience was unhappy, I wonder why? What did you want from a man in a decent return? Stallone tried so hard to make the film good and please us, and what turns out in the end 'did not need this part, it's superfluous' is not so, those who really loved and watched the film 'Rokia' loved the 6th part as well as the previous 5. I saw this picture was glad that despite his return Stallone did it again and went into the ring! Way to go!
I was sceptical about this film before seeing it, as the story of Rocky Balboa had long since been completely exhausted and the influx of novelty for the sixth film was not foreseen.
But Stallone was surprised to make the film so that it was markedly different from the previous five parts. The sixth part does not touch on the subject of boxing, most of all we watch the life of Rocky, as he struggles with the problems that life has caused him. This is very interesting to observe, because from this you can extract useful things for yourself, which will certainly be useful in life.
There are no complaints to the actors, everyone played as it should have been so that their characters looked very natural.
The musical component didn’t blow up, which has always been important in Rocky Balboa movies. The soundtracks written for the film are very cheerful and dynamic.
The only thing I didn't like was the idea of Rocky fighting a young Mason Dixon. A fight in which a young champion, who knocks out the spirit of all rivals, will fight with his grandfather, who has long abandoned his career, causes me only a smile. But this is the only drawback of the film that I saw, the rest I was very pleased.
The film “Rocky Balboa” turned out to be a worthy end to the film epic about Rocky. This time, The Italian Stallion showed that only life can hit us the hardest, and then it will only matter how much you can contribute and keep going, keeping faith in yourself.
Tell me, by mid-zero, who saw Stallone differently than one of the heroes of yesterday? Films with him did not make the box office since the time of “Climb climber”, and since the early 2000s and at times resembled frank thrash. All this, coupled with age, made it clear that Sly’s time was running out and the process was slowly becoming irreversible. When it became known that he decided to put the continuation of his two main franchises “Rocky” and “Rambo”, the success of the enterprise, except Stallone and his family, perhaps, no one believed. And do not be surprised by the skepticism with which the picture “Rocky Balboa” was expected at the end of 2006. But we were all wrong...
The folk hero of Philadelphia ex-world heavyweight champion Rocky Balboa has long been out of boxing. He runs a small restaurant, entertaining guests every night with boxing stories, saddens his wife Adriana, dies of cancer, swears with incorrigible brother-in-law Paulie (Bert Young) and tries to establish understanding with an adult son (Milo Ventimiglia). No one sees him as anything other than a wedding general, a living legend, and when he decided to get an amateur license to box for his own pleasure, everyone twirled a finger at his temple, including even his own offspring. And Rocky's just nibbling with an awful longing. He misses his wife madly and is tired of being scrapped. And then the promoters of the new champion Mason Dixon (Antonio Tarver), who almost no one likes, come to him with an offer to hold a charity duel between them. Rocky grabs this chance like a life-saving straw because he doesn't care about winning. It is important for him to tell the world that there is still gunpowder in his gunpowder.
In general, for sports dramas, the plot is quite typical. Those who have reviewed a bunch of such films, in principle, can easily predict the development of events and the outcome, guess the mandatory happy ending, the presence of a love line and a ton of pathos mixed with family values. They can, but only with this film they are cruelly miscalculated. Because Sylvester Stallone not only to some extent moved away from genre clichés (concerning the love line, which is simply not here, although the woman in question seems to be there), but also shot an incredibly sincere and truly touching, surprisingly balanced in relation to pathos and the same tears inherent in such paintings, cinema. Just wonder how subtly Sly did everything that to remain indifferent or somehow scold the film is simply impossible. Why is that? Because for him, Rocky Balboa is a cry of the soul. Stallone in one of his main characters of his life and career embodied himself. And this film is an attempt to remind everyone that he was early retired and included in the pantheon of faded stars. He has staked the remnants of his reputation and has not lost.
For all its depth, the final part of the series about Rocky is surprisingly simple, even against the background of previous series, and so not very abstruse. But it does. The first half of the picture, in which Rocky in his legendary hat runs a restaurant, quietly yearning for his deceased wife and for the irretrievably gone time, is almost masterpiece. If critics liked to scold Sly about his “woodiness” and failure as a writer and director, they should keep quiet. Stallone plays simply amazing, and the episode in which Rocky tells Paulie about the beast eating him from the inside and swipes a stingy male tear with his huge brook is able to touch even the most notorious cynic.
Another thing is the second part of the film, which is completely left to boxing. Here everything is as usual - hard training to the classic "Gonna fly now", and then the fight in Las Vegas. On the one hand, they paid tribute to the old series, and on the other hand, for the first time for boxing cinema, they showed the fight as if the audience were watching it on TV. Later, the same boxing showed in his Oscar-winning "Fighter" David O'Russell, bringing this technique to perfection. But the fight between Stallone and Tarver looks very realistic and cool now, especially since old Michael Baffer was dragged there for his legendary cry “Let’s get ready to rumble!”
In my opinion, the most impressive comeback of the 2000s in the film industry belongs to Sly. Yes, two years later, thanks to “Wrestler”, a less successful copy of “Rocky Balboa”, Mickey Rourke returned as spectacularly, but Rourke already had several successful roles after several years of oblivion. And Stallone by the time of the release of his film from about the mid-to-late nineties played in one failed film after another, and his age was already approaching critical. That’s how to shoot at 60 years old, being in great physical shape, with such a great film, without leaving on bare nostalgia, is worthy of the highest appreciation and absolute respect. For me, this is the most beloved sports drama of all time, a real anthem for strength of spirit and overcoming. I take my hat off to Sly.
For the phrase I use in the title, I am ready to immediately write a positive review.
Watching this film you need to abstract from the sport, I think in fact the main idea is that the old man should not bury himself prematurely, it is never too late to test yourself again, it will not get worse anyway.
I think that after the second series, there was nothing interesting in Rocky, and therefore my surprise was strong, this time the main character did not take revenge on anyone, which was the main idea of the three previous films, and there was no “villain” at all, the authors decided to create something deeper and they succeeded. Another plus is the musical accompaniment, which is typical for all films in the series.
As always, everything is not complicated, not clever, there are no quotes about sports, boxing, and the like, which would give imaginary weight to the one written below. Eighteenth Simple Opinion – Rocky Balboa
Every athlete is familiar with the concept of “second breath”, I think it will not surprise people who are far from sports. It applies to actors, directors, even the roles and characters played. Otherwise, I don’t know how to explain the resuscitation of old characters, played by Stallone, more than 30 years ago, and brought him fame, fame and money. It is the intensive care unit, because if Sylvester did not wish them to have the last word, these characters would remain in the memory of moviegoers - one - a former first-class fighter who became a street fighter, the second - a defender of Afghanistan, although he was a military man with skills in guerrilla warfare. But in this "opinion" we will talk about Rocky. In fact, the film is far from unambiguous, not so simple, but interesting, right? Let’s look at it from the outside.
What bought the first movie? The fact that Rocky, as he described him, and played Sly - a completely ordinary guy. Work is dirty and life is ugly. In principle, such a muzzle can be found in any dysfunctional area of any city, or even prosperous, if he looks there for “work”. Our hero worked part-time fighting in the ring for money, although the big question is what was the job for him. Why am I telling you this when you’ve seen it all? And if you haven't seen - then there is nothing to read further - forward to review the first part, especially since it is one of the best films on the circum-sports theme. Then, of course, like all franchises (except Saws and porn movies), each subsequent film was slightly worse than the previous one, which led to the above-mentioned coma of the entire series. Who thought anyone would want to shoot a sixth? But it didn’t look so fantastic compared to the idea that someone would give it money. Until Sly himself took over.
I think Stallone wanted to say goodbye to his hero, with the image that gave him so much, and even the fifth part. Well, she did not look like the role of the last, although Stallone did not try as a director and screenwriter to prescribe bows to the previous films of the series.
So how does an accountable film work? Why is he even under consideration? While newcomers are watching the first part, I think those who stayed will agree with me that Rocky was understandable and so close to the viewer precisely because of its simplicity. And the chance that he was lucky to use is what many dream about. Subsequent films were further and further away from the common viewer - well, the thoughts of a simple thug are easier to understand than the superstar athlete, who has a robot at home and is sent to a communist country to fight their super-athlete. What do we see in Part Six? Rock is back to his roots - he's still the same simple guy, but with a rich past. He owns a restaurant, tells visitors stories from life, does not quite get along with his son, and still misses his deceased wife. The author of these lines never took Adrian as a character seriously, so this fact was not particularly disappointing.
Melancholy, sunset, departure (to emphasize) – these are the words that describe the first half of the film. Beginning to miss, remember the first part, and suddenly you realize – it was built by the same makar, and the sixth does what every self-respecting continuation should do – takes the best from the previous part, in this case – the pace and style of the story is good.
Reason to fight. At first it seems to be drawn by the ears, and donkeys choke with envy, looking at the length of these ears. But then again, remembering the first part, you realize that this is again a bow in her direction.
In general, this film managed to do what many parts with a number above three fail to do - to preserve the atmosphere without sliding into a caricature of the same sample of the original. This is expensive, especially remembering (through force, but still) the fifth part. But the approach to the central battle, the main thing that everyone was waiting for, what was the trump card of the series required a modern approach. And then Sly did not disappoint, and gave, perhaps, the best of cinematic battles in the ring.
Imagine sitting there, not touching anyone, watching a boxing evening, now there is a break between fights, and you discussed the previous fight with your neighbor. When suddenly in the ring comes Antonio Tarver (who was not supposed to fight today), behind him – Sylvester Stallone (who, by the way, loves boxing, and often watches fights from the ringside), the fight announces the famous ring announcer Michael Buffer, and the people in the room between and not on the computer are drawn, and their emotions are real. The fight itself is a sight, well, and the scene of lifting from the knee - such emotions the author experienced only when watching "Knockdown".
Can we sum up?
So wisely, beautifully, saying “thank you” to the previous parts of the series and your fans, without saying it out loud, not many characters leave. They leave because they said everything, they achieved everything, and because they “released the tiger.” Leave, giving farewell bright flash, giving reason to remember how burned at the zenith.
The result is to watch and review.
Rocky Balboa isn’t just a boxer movie, it’s a story of human life. Rocky is the embodiment of the best features of man: strength of spirit, courage, intelligence, perseverance.
It’s a movie that stops its heartbeat for a moment and then beats with a crazy rhythm. The film is full of scenes where it is worth thinking about the meaning of life, how you lived it, and how to live the part of life that remains. As Rocky said, “No one beats harder than life.” Everyone needs to believe in themselves and what they are doing to achieve their goals. The film gives an impetus to the fight for a place in the sun, because every person has the right to do what he wants, has the right to happiness.
Sylvester Stallone wrote a great script and played a great role. His acting won more than one heart, including mine.
Thank you, Sly!
So, “Rocky Balboa”, which is the sixth film in the series, continues to tell about the misadventures of the famous fighter in the heavyweight, undoubtedly, should be considered the worst part of the entire franchise. And there are many reasons for that. Well, as about all the reasons to tell me laziness, I will try to emphasize in my review – the most key and significant shortcomings of this tape. Well, let's get started.
First, I was very disappointed with the script. It seems that every person, having glanced at the description of the film, can say that Rocky Balboa is a really useful and worth watching movie, which really can cause a feeling of nostalgia for the main characters who take part in the previous parts of the series. Well, that's just at first glance. To be honest, I myself at first thought so, because nostalgia is pleasant, especially when I know the original source, in this case, the original, the first five films about Rocky Balboa and his bosom friends are the primary source. The sixth film in the series didn’t do what I expected it to do. Namely: nostalgia does not even smell, the plot, in general, is not original and as if it were sucked out of a finger by a fan, and the story itself does not cause much admiration. It’s a nightmare and nothing else.
But all right, God is with him with the plot, and not what you would expect from modern creators. The only question that worries me the most is: What happened to Bill Conti’s wonderful compositions? Why they are not so memorable and do not stand out at all, not by their sound, not by their meaning. Remember the classic Eye of the Tiger? Why, that's why Conti didn't come up with something like that to make listening interesting and stay in his head for a long time, why? This is a huge disappointment.
Acting work, more or less, was able to please me. As always, our Italian stallion, Sylvester Stallone, was on top. Even though he didn’t make it to the original Rocky movies, he managed to play at the level of a professional artist who knows his job and loves him. Not bad, in short, Sylvester, very good. Not perfect though. I'll mention Burt Young and Antonio Terver among others. Since they were able to be remembered, and somewhere, even please their acting skills.
Definitely, “Rocky Balboa” is the weakest film in the entire franchise, which, absolutely, is not able to please the viewer who sat down for watching it. And if the viewer is still a fan of the original first five episodes, like me, then even more so – nothing but disappointment, the film will not cause. Rocky is not the same, but he is not the same as he was before.
16 years after the release of the fifth part of the film franchise "Rocky", comes the end of this, in my opinion, the most popular and best movie about boxing picture with a simple and simple name "Rocky Balboa". And it comes out with very decent success both in its artistic plan and at the box office. And indeed, Rocky is a significant and beloved film character, the return of which could not but interest. That’s just, if in some other sequels, the latter turned out, as a rule, dull and boring, this film came out very good. Having gone for the most part screen time in a dramatic genre that can even swim beyond the edge of a certain male melodrama, the film importantly raises many questions concerning both the loss of the closest person, the problems of fathers and children, loneliness at the end of years, human kindness and some other elusive and airy human moments. In this regard, the picture wins a lot, although Stallone, in my opinion, it turns out somehow masculinely crumpled and rugged ... but it turns out. The remaining half an hour are allotted to the preparation for the final fight and, in fact, its display.
Balboa’s children are experiencing the loss of their beloved wife, making it clear in their monologues that no one beats harder than life. But it is important to bear these blows and follow the call of the heart. He runs a small restaurant named after his wife, where he tells customers dusty boxing stories. The discord with his son is a consequence of the feeling of the last “big shadow” of popularity and recognition of his father as a boxer, which is why it hits his pride, since much, in his opinion, gets him due to this popularity. Polly works in a butcher shop, where she watches her animal carcasses and paints pictures. “If you stay in a place for a long time, you soon become a part of it.” Polly's retired. Heroes feel this transience and evaporability of time, which causes melancholy and the desire to do good.
Balboa in one of the diners meets a girl who long ago at the peak of his career met on the street. Balboa gets to know her better, meets her son. She's alone, not living in the best of conditions. Rocky wants to help her, he generally wants to help everyone around him, to tell something and show from the perspective of his life experience. It is with this dramatic narrative endeavor that the film is good, human and unhurried. He says that when his wife dies, he wants to take care of someone. Gradually, the girl moves under his wing to the restaurant. A life idyll with a taste of a little melancholy about the passing of time and losses, I call my heart.
And at this time, the passions of boxing continue to boil and a new invincible world heavyweight champion looms on the world stage, who has never lost and has never had a draw. Mason Dixon is called this rapping negrilla (his role was played by world champion light heavyweight Antonio Tarver). And in general, in the film, HBO commentators Larry Merchant, Joe Lampley and Max Kellerman starred as themselves, ringannonser Michael Buffer, referee Joe Cortez, Ring magazine expert Bert Sugar, promoter Lou DiBell, as well as former absolute world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson. The people of the American boxer dislikes because he simply has no equal and fights with him, in view of this, it is not interesting to watch. But then the press fussed and decided to simulate a computer program fight between Dixon and Balboa, in which the winner, according to experts and the program was Balboa. Both Dixon and Balboa saw the imitation. To appease the beast inside, Balboa decides to get a license to practice boxing. Smelling profit promoters contact Balboa and decide to hold a demonstration boxing match in Las Vegas, the proceeds of which allegedly go to charity (but not all so pure among capitalists). Balboa agrees, ahead of the final fight in the life of the people’s boxer, which becomes not so indicative, but the most real competitive.
As I said, most of the picture is dramatic narrative and lifelike. At first, he seemed to me rustic, crumpled and somewhat inept, trying only, but to a certain extent it has its own charm, which can be attributed to the angularity of the behavior and life of Debina Balboa. Rocky has abundant street gestures and facial expressions, sometimes turning into the movements of some alley black bandits. He looks so masculine and has seen appearances, as in the previous parts like, but I vaguely remember them. Well, these all-affirming monologues, in which you can find a bit of pathos, I always liked (remember the meeting with my son, the pre-fighting words of Marie in the car). Monologues arouse certain feelings and urge not to give up.
Boxing match created in the form of a real mass and entertainment broadcast. Las Vegas, lots of people, lights ... and chants of "Rocky, Rocky" are seething. Both the fight and preparation for it are presented in a purely American manner, exciting the mass consciousness, sometimes clipped, but always spectacular. Blows pour after blows, heroes fall and rise again, memories pop up in memory, Rocky initially receives scolding - all this has already been seen both in previous parts and in other sports films. However, it is shown at a good and high level, with a soul, so to speak, the viewer will not take a look. But Stallone did not overdo the fight, already showing that the hero has more gunpowder in all places without exception, on points with an extremely minimal gap, giving the victory to Dixon. But the viewer fully understands and realizes that, had there been other years, Dixon would have been cut to pieces.
A qualitatively effective return of film boss Rocky to wide screens with a well-developed and predominantly dramatic life basis of the narrative.
"Rocky Balboa" - this film can not be called another part of the history of boxer Rocky, as you could say about the fifth part, this is the end, here Rocky is revealed completely, here we show him many years later, he is an old legend, many revered, some forgotten, he was written off, but he remained the same, he still sits in the beast, he still has a "tiger look."
On the one hand, the sixth part tells about the complete end of Rocky’s career and history, but on the other, it is a film about the strength of spirit and the ageless will to win.
The film inspires and captures even more than the first part, and especially like the sound of the orchestral music of Bill Conti, and in the end, instead of joy after a worthy fight with Apollo Creed in the first part, sadness and sadness, this is the end of the story, and, surprisingly for me, during the credits, tears came to my eyes, either joy, or because this is the end.
Of all the epic about Rocky, it is necessary to see only the first and last part, a powerful, heroic beginning and a worthy end to the great story.
In the genre of sports drama, new representatives regularly appear, and many of them are very good. However, no matter how much you touch "Million Dollar Baby", no matter how cheerful "Fighter" is, and no matter how much we empathize with the characters in the films "Ali", "Raging Bull", "Knockdown" and others - all this is not "Rocky". Objectivity aside, let it stand there, for it has no place here.
It's ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. - Rocky Balboa.
Yes, it’s probably true that the first film came at the right time and place, and it came in 1976. Now it is difficult to imagine the appearance of a character as bright and lively as Rocky. It's just impossible and that's it. No matter how hard you try, you can not beat the classics. “Rocky” was not the first in the genre, but it was he who again aroused interest in him, carved the very spark that kindled the fire of love in the hearts of many people. Too melodramatic, but Rocky deserves to be treated like that. The sixth chapter is one of the best in the series. Looking at the old man who yearns for his beloved wife and old days, you feel moisture coming to your eyes. How convincing in this role Sylvester Stallone. Just fucking hell. And most people see it prevents their stupid bias towards this good (looking at the whole series of "Rocky", you can say great) actor.
You know, the older I get the more things I gotta leave behind, that's life. - Rocky Balboa.
In this chapter (as well as in the first), boxing takes up barely a third of screen time. Everything else is the sad everyday life of the main character, accompanied by amazing ... no, amazing ... again no, bold amazing music Bill Conti. If it wasn’t for Bill... who knows how we would feel about Rocky?
I'd like to express my deepest regret that I didn't know Rocky so well in 2006. I don’t know how emotionally charged I would have left the theater. What would I experience if I saw the introductory title "ROCKY BALBOA" floating around the screen to fanfare "Gonna Fly Now". And in what a pleasant emotion would plunge, when after just a minute on the screen appears the full moon and the voice sounds: "Take you back ... do do do do ..." Take you back ..." Oh, there's nothing like that. How many times can I watch this? Infinity is the answer.
To beat this guy, you need speed - you don't have it. And your knees can't take the pounding, so hard running is out. And you got arthritis in your neck and you've got calcium deposits on most of your joints, so sparring is out.
Not so long ago, Stallone expressed his intention to remove the sequel. Yes, he knows that this decision will cause a lot of criticism, which he said, but he also added that he would feel bad if he did not try again. And I understand. After all, in Rocky, he found an outlet throughout his life. He literally fused with the character he wrote under himself. So I'll just sincerely wish him luck. Rocky is a life story and Rocky Balboa is still alive. Feet to hell, cervical arthritis, salt deposits in the joints, but there is something inside, he says, like the beast is sitting. And inside is nothing but the burning heart of a champion who craves new victories. I don’t mind spending another round with him.
If the life of one person has such an impact on the lives of many others, that person lives a great life. Yes, Stallone has a great life.
That's all. Though -- did you hear the gong? I don't.
