Screen metaphors and how bad the restored version is The main advantage of Soviet cartoons of the 1950s in their high-quality and very colorful animation. And people, animals, and just locations look great, because they were drawn from real objects. But there is one problem, which is purely technical: sound recording (and video, too) from the middle of the XX century gradually deteriorated, and as a result, in the early 2000s we saw a series of restored cartoons, which at the same time re-voiced. And it turned out so well. If you accidentally stumble upon this updated version, then from the very first seconds your ears will begin to wither from artificial, electronic music, where no emotionality is felt. The same goes for the new voices of the characters – they’re less soulful, more boring.
However, if you include the original from 1954, the situation is not much better: there are so many extraneous noises in the voiceover that it is sometimes difficult to understand what the characters are talking about. Especially the fox. The actress, apparently, shouted into the speaker, so sometimes listening is physically difficult.
But if we consider the plot and visual, then “Three bags of tricks” – the cartoon is basically good. Yes, from a zoological point of view, this is completely absurd, since neither foxes nor hedgehogs eat grapes, but as a figurative story, the cartoon deserves to put a finger up. Folklore fox has always personified cunning and insidiousness, and although the crook is drawn very diligently, it does not cause much sympathy, since honesty in it is zero. Another thing is a hedgehog, for whom morality is not an empty sound. True, there is a moment when, sitting on a branch, the character commits a great stupidity out of surprise, but this makes it even ridiculous. Especially since the humor of the Soviet cartoons of the 1950s was really lacking. As a result, we have a fair, hopeful ending, and ... in general, it is worth watching the cartoon.
