French Emperor in Moscow or Uninvited Guest Historical documentary with elements of computer graphics. The project of my favorite studio, Babich Design, which I always get excited about, and which make me wait for their every new project with interest - and they have never let me down. I will say that this is the series I first watched back in the days of its premiere in 2012 – and since then regularly (once or twice a year) review, and each time again experience a heap of emotions, which are below. And if you say an opinion in two words - emotional and heroic. Of the minuses, I can only highlight the neglect of some details that were very important, such as the absence of a wedding ring on the hand of Emperor Alexander I, although he was married then for a long time, and a few more details that I do not want to dwell on. Let’s take a closer look at the memorable moments of this series and they are also a reason to watch:
1. Graphics – I confess, not everywhere it was successful, but in most shots it is very juicy and visual, which allows you to feel the intensity of passions and understand the actions of certain people. You can see the efforts of the creators and at the same time - limited budget, apparently a lot of money "cut" on the "Ulan Ballad", where you can see a real hack, and this worthy project allocated a penny, which was put into action, and were able to create this masterpiece of documentary.
2. The actors – especially George Bulat, who played Napoleon so convincingly and so emphatically used the facial expressions and pride of the real Bonaparte that I had no doubt – here he is Napoleon, the lord of Europe and the possible conqueror of the World. Literally every shot with him gives pleasure, as if Napoleon himself came off the history books and looks at you on the other side of the screen. Georgie is so good and my applause. And the actor who played the role of Kutuzov also fit his prototype - a brave, wise experience, calculating, cunning, diplomatic and beloved by soldiers commander, who shored his soldiers and wasted in the meat grinder did not throw, unlike Napoleon. And the rest turned out good, although not always similar. And it is good that some of them were replaced by more similar ones.
3. Maps – I will mention them separately, because they are very detailed and allow the viewer to visualize the course of the war, and why everything happened as it happened, and not otherwise. I have not noticed any mistakes.
4. Music - it deserves special attention, because it allows you to literally feel all the emotions that were experienced by the heroes of those events, both from our side and from the enemy. I especially remember the music of blazing Moscow and the retreat of the Russian army, as well as the death of the Grand Army during the withdrawal from Russia.
5. The trick of England - yes, you heard it. And here England wanted to have something. And I kept wondering why Kutuzov was driving Napoleon to the border and not trying to capture him! The motives and logic of his actions are only now evident.
6. The series tells in detail about the Patriotic War of 1812, without missing any aspect of this truly great event in our history. I literally, sorry for the pun and pathos, was there. The effect of immersion in the described events is the calling card of all projects of the studio.
As a result, we have just an excellent documentary project about the Patriotic War of 1812 with excellent music and excellent acting work.
