The series is about the work of a fictional department in the Metropolitan Police in London, it is called OVNP / UCOS - the department of newly discovered unsolved crimes, they are engaged in solving cases once unsolved for any reason. Now there are new circumstances, evidence, technology and so on, which make it possible to solve these crimes, besides, once successful retired police officers are involved in this case, however, the department is headed by a rather young woman detective-superindent Sandra Pullman (Amanda Redman). Old dogs (and the name of the series comes from the proverb “You can not teach an old dog new tricks”) refute the proverb – they cope with these cases perfectly, although sometimes they resort to not very standard methods, not provided for by protocols, are absolutely incorrect, each of them has their own “small” and not very weaknesses, they do not climb into their pockets, do not suffer from piety towards their superiors, although they treat their boss with respect. This is a phenomenal memory and a somewhat strange alcoholic in a bind Brian Lane (Alan Armstrong), a creepy womanizer, divorced from three wives with whom he maintains friendly relations and from which he became a friendly company, Jerry Standing (Dennis Waterman) and the former boss of Sandra the most serious of them, very peculiarly honoring the memory of his wife Jack Halford (James Bolam). They all worked well together. The plot for the cases disclosed is not cross-cutting, one series is one case, only the life circumstances of the characters are through, who are also given a lot of time. The series is shot in several comedic places, although there are dramatic moments. So fans of the genre can watch. The story of the series is somewhat unusual, first the pilot was filmed, then they still began to shoot further, since it turned out to be very popular, although the BBC thought that they should be ashamed of it, perhaps just because of political incorrectness.
