It is no secret that one of the possible options for attracting viewers to cinemas is not only advertising (posters, TV videos, trailers before other films, mentions in the media), but also documentaries specially released on the eve of the big premiere. So in 1990, shortly before the appearance of the third part of the cult gangster saga "The Godfather" Francis Ford Coppola, the documentary project "The Godfather Family: A Look Inside" Director Jeff Werner, about how the entire trilogy was filmed and what the viewer is waiting for in "The Godfather-3".
Being a fan of the whole saga (although I only love the first 2 parts), I couldn't get past this documentary. And I liked it. As befits a promotional campaign, there will be a lot of videos dedicated to the creation of the third part. And these will be excerpts of the shooting period, the joint work of writers Coppola and Mario Puzo on the characters, interviews with the main actors (Al Pacino, Andy Garcia, Sofia Coppola, Eli Wallach, Joe Mantegna). However, much will be said about the first two parts. How the first “Godfather” was created, who in the end did not pass the casting, how some scenes from the film were filmed - the viewer will receive answers to all these questions one way or another.
Looking ahead, I will say that today, when a lot of various articles and books are written about the history of the creation of the Godfather trilogy, many videos have been made in YouTube, and even in 2022 a whole game series “The Proposal” was released - “The Godfather Family: A Look Inside” may seem like a project that has lost its relevance. But I would still prefer to see a film with a series of interviews with those who were directly involved in the creation of all three parts, rather than a huge amount of information on the Internet (where everyone steals from each other). Let it be in one-voice translation of Andrei Gavrilov.
