Ordinary commonness Not surprisingly, no reviews have appeared under this film so far. And it’s not that the picture is unpopular, although this too. The main reason is that it is inexpressive. You could say ordinary. And ordinary things, although they are used, but do not cause much delight. It will be interesting only to fans of the wonderful actor Steve Guttenberg, who played the main role in this film. As for popularity, it is worth noting that the picture collected some money, so it found its audience. But hell, everything is so banal and predictable that the film is almost not engaging. I do not think that the film at the time went with any special fanfare, or rather, I am sure that it is most likely lost among such hits as “Back to the Future”, “Commando”, “Breakfast Club”, “Police Story” and other wonderful films released in the same year.
Of course, I can reasonably argue that this is how it should be. The comedy genre has its own well-established canons, according to which the production and predictability of the film is laid at the initial stage of writing the script. And the uniformity of such films no longer surprises anyone. However, the original beginning of the film set in a slightly different way. Whatever it is, and this is another film about college, of which in the 90s and beyond in the zero will be countless. However, in this situation, the location was drastically changed. The standard higher education institution of the United States was changed to a South American university. Accordingly, a set of jokes and gags dramatically changed the theme on ethnic grounds. Yes, and the scope for the adventures of the Yankees on the neighboring continent appeared at least extra.
And all would be well, but everything that happens to the characters of the picture is foreseen ten minutes ahead, of course, vulgar jokes have not disappeared, but this is quite normal for, let’s say, “student” comedies. Despite the promising beginning, the viewer again gets a very standard set of jokes and humorous situations, often playing out the incompetence and incompetence of the Aborigines, which, in no way, does not paint this film. I think that was the turning point for my assessment. Nevertheless, the picture deserves certain discounts in the sense that although for the eighties it was not a novelty, the record was not yet damn worn, and naturally the participation of Steve Guttenberg in it is an excellent attraction.
I’m not an expert in comedies, I don’t even pretend to be a connoisseur of the genre, but my expectations were much higher than what I got on the way out. Moreover, having read the assessments and reviews on the English-language website related to the KP, I was surprised that our few viewers liked the film much more than the overseas one. The audience was not more radical in their assessments. In general, this film is quite possible to see in some big and noisy company, because there is always a person who will grin at every joke to the point of colic in his stomach. I’m not one of those guys, so I just...
