Japanese Destruction of the Original 2002's Lilo and Stitch is one of the best Disney cartoons in history. Beautiful, pleasant, kind, instructive, funny and at the same time moderately dramatic cartoon, which showed us a great story of friendship of a little girl Lilo and a blue koal-like alien Stitch, with allusions to “Despicable Duckling”, beautiful Hawaiian color and amazing songs by Elvis Presley. Even today, this film is nothing but admiration. The cartoon also had box office success, and therefore spawned an entire franchise of computer games, merchandise and a bunch of sequels. There was a good animated series 2003-2006. and its prequel "The New Adventures of Stitch." There was a taxi-bait "The Big Problem Stitch" and "Leroy and Stitch."
But somehow I learned that there is another animated series about Stitch, produced by the Japanese studio “Madhouse” (which seems to hint!), which is not an independent work, but a continuation of the latest Disney cartoon – “Leroy and Stitch”. I had mixed feelings about how it felt. But then I watched a few episodes and you know, it's kind of a weird feeling when a cartoon is kind of nice and beautiful, but you hate it for the way it did the original. Because the animated series "Stitch" destroys absolutely the whole message and morality of the Disney franchise and at the same time exploits it.
In the first episode, Stitch learns that Lilo has a new friend because of which he resents her and steals the plane Jumbo, flies from Hawaii and ends up in Japan, where he meets a new girl Yuna and becomes her new friend. Stop! What? What's the new girl and Japan? What about Ohana, what about the family? What about the moral of all the Lilo and Stitch cartoons: Family is the most important thing. Your family will never leave you. Ohana forgets no one.” So all this is in vain and empty words? Lilo and Stitch are no longer friends because she traded him for a new friend, and Stitch calmly abandoned her and never remembers her again. Except as a pasture, this plot twist I can not call. So destroy the morality of a good cartoon, it must be able to.
And there's a good example. At the end of "Toy Story 3" the main characters - the toys also change the adult owner Andy to the younger hostess Bonnie, but the whole cartoon was logically summed up to this and it was a heavy dramatic moment of farewell to childhood. And in “Stitch!” it just threw and trampled past cartoons in the dirt.
And at the same time, the animated series itself can not even be called independent, because it stupidly repeats the plot of the original. Stitch enters the house of a lonely girl and becomes her only friend, and she tries to re-educate him in good manners. Wait, hasn't that already happened? Lilo was also a single girl and retrained Stitch. Why repeat that? This Yuna looks like Lilo, and her grandmother looks like Nani. Together with Stitch, Jambo and Plikli move to Japan and they are the same as in the original.
The main villain of the animated series is again Homjaxville, who again tries to catch 6-2-6 and is again helped by Gant and sample Ruben. Wait, why? Gantu returned to work in the Federation. And, it turns out, he was fired, and he again plows on Homjaxville, and he accepted him, although Ganta betrayed him and causes only his anger by his incompetence. That is, just repeating what was in the original.
The animated series tells how each series Stitch and Yuna save the world from something and it is no different from the animated series. The same Lilo (Yuna), Nani (Grandma), Jumbo, Plicley, Gantu, Ruben and Homjaxville.
At the same time, even in color the animated series loses. Remember how the original "Lilo and Stitch" delighted the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands in the form of landscapes, dances and cuisine. Perhaps if the new animated series takes place in Japan, we will show the Japanese flavor? I haven’t been to Japan, and I may think in stereotypes, but in my mind Japan is all about volcanoes, sakuras, pagodas, samurai and soothing music. Where's all this in the cartoon? Why is the whole island where Yuna lives similar to Hawaii, even to the fact that there are also palm trees?
Conclusion: In itself, the animated series “Stitch!” is certainly not bad. The animation is pleasant, the plot is kind, but this is not due to the creators of the cartoon, but to the fact that they simply repeat the original. If the Japanese had just rebooted Stitch’s story, it would have solved all the plot problems, but instead the animated series simply repeats the very first cartoon, but at the same time destroys his message and devalues everything that has happened before. I was reminded of Russian remakes of Soviet classics such as “Irony of Fate 2”, which also shame the original, but repeat it. Look, Stitch had a friendship with Lilo, and she made him feel good, and now it's gone. Ohana thought that family is the best treasure and she will never forget you, here everyone has forgotten each other.
