We Can`t Make Friends The story of “Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai” begins with a guy named Kodaka, who does not know how to present himself with a positive side to people around him, and therefore has a reputation as a bully, meets a girl in an empty class who, without noticing him, talks to herself - more precisely, talks to an imaginary friend. The girl, not confused and talking with him, decides to organize a club "Friends" within the school. The club eventually gathers a group of social outcasts - they are all so different, but still together. Indeed, it is difficult for them to count on a large number of friends, but they do not have friends at all. So I guess a lot of them ended up in this club. It is difficult for them to communicate with each other, but they are still together. Will such a motley company be able to get along with each other and what will come out of this unusual Friends Club? True, it is interesting to watch the course of this situation as a spectator from the outside while the series does not have some ingenious plot, and genre affiliation is more likely to scare off the eminent anime artist than attract.
Why? It so happened that titles with the ethy tag and harem often turn out to be failures and most of these creations live in the category of second-rate anime, or even third-rate. Otherwise, as a seasonal soapbox such works can not be called. Therefore, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai was taken with caution. Rarely among the seasonal ettie and harem comes something really high-quality and worthwhile - able to satisfy the taste of the spoiled viewer. First of all, I was attracted by the description of the title and I started watching it ongoing, watching the 4th series - I froze until the full release on BD, because such a title should be viewed only on BD and nothing else. Secondly, immediately attracted the attention of the design of the characters and in general the style of drawing: it is very original, it is so I want to call — brand. Let this be a slight exaggeration, but the drawing is really stylistically attractive and brings a special freshness to the series.
Despite the fact that there is nothing original in terms of the plot, and there are no plot intrigues either, I was still very curious to watch this simple story. Ask why? Because the three main characters are very good. For starters, the main character does not have a template image - either an ordinary Japanese schoolboy or a perfect boy. Instead, he has a reputation as a bully and, oh miracle!, he can stand up not only for himself but also for his fellow man. Agree, in modern anime such characters are very rare. The heroine of Yozor can be labeled a tsundere, but there is something interesting about her, and her image is perceived fresh. Sana is a very bright person - the beauty of the local school, it would seem that all the guys are crazy about her, but nobody really loves her and friends, as well as a friend she does not have. It is all because of her arrogant nature and desire to be the center of attention. What’s not so good about the Friends Club: her desire to be the center of attention always goes sideways and will she, like the rest of the club, be able to make friends? Oh, yeah! It is worth noting the sister of the main character Kobato, frankly, the sister stands out both in image and character. Excessively kawaii nasha, and it is not annoying, but rather touches. Our nasha in reality got used to the role of a favorite character from the anime and, as a result, imitates him. All this looks at least cute and funny. In general, the characters here are amazing and are the main attraction of the title.
I really like when the creators of the ethie and the harem do not focus on demonstrating some vulgarity, littering the air with a solid fan service and panza - in order to please a concerned teenager, but rely on characters - creating personalities from them, not stuffed dolls, which are then labeled as OYash or tsundera. Yes, there are juicy moments in this creation, but there are only a few of them, and they are really funny and appropriate for the situation. This title is not another ethie or harem, it is not a seasonal soapbox. This is a piece title and an example of what, if not ideally, then in a good way should be anime in the genre of harem and etti.
Why isn't this title up to the perfect etti harem? First, the plot is weak, more precisely it is not here. There is some intrigue that moves the story, but it rather has a formal status, and there is no real intrigue here. Secondly, the series with a trip to the beach and the festival are already such hackneyed techniques in this genre that they are called the stamp of the genre. The rest is great - there are good characters, there are funny moments and there is a nice atmosphere. When the characters are strong in character and attractive in the anime, the title can be called successful. A good etti harem should have its own highlight: the main character is not OYash, but a real bully. Moreover, “Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai” is a harem, but the harem is not felt in it and the original atmosphere and romantic side come to the fore as a result, no matter how paradoxical it may sound in relation to the harem. Therefore, it is not surprising and it is already known that the second season has been announced for 2013. I think this work will appeal to gourmets and connoisseurs, of course, high-quality etti.
