The sequel to an unfunny parody of everything American The picture failed miserably at the French box office. In a special rating, which is compiled every year, the film entered the 15 most failed projects of 2012. So the result is not surprising. The humor in the film is extremely stupid. Although gags per square meter of film - even an overabundance. The creators clearly tried very hard to create a kind of analogue of American stupid comedy (and the film is mainly set in the United States), but they clearly overdid it. Perhaps the funniest moment is the appearance of an accountant who says that the presence of such a number of helicopters and people with weapons in the frame is not planned, and in general - you need to follow the budget. After that, the FBI agents sadly go on the subway.
In general, the writers used every opportunity. There are absurdist humor, and stupid situations in which the characters get, and their excessive stupidity, and sharpness below the belt - but the audience still did not understand this unfunny comedy.
How did you not understand the first film about a couple of FBI agents – Riper and Bullitt – “Who killed Pamela?” It was released in 2003 and was not successful either. It’s even strange that after such a blatant failure, Cad Merad and Olivier Barou decided to get together again to write a sequel. The director of the first film Eric Lartigo refused to participate in this outrage, but they still did not give up this idea. Probably, they just worked well and comfortably together – both at the writing stage and at the shooting stage. At the same time, the screenwriters from Cad Merada and Olivier Baro are frankly bad. But it seems so difficult to admit your own failure and draw conclusions.
Our distributors, of course, are big cunning. Sometimes they change the title of the film so that it went trailer for a high-profile project - and brought money, although the film is not a sequel at all, and sometimes vice versa - confuse the cards, calling the film "Who Killed Pamela Rose Again?" “Special agents on vacation” – so as not to identify the sequel.
In addition to Merad and Baru, the film also starred Omar Si, who became a star after the film “1+1”, and Laurent Lafitte, whose work in the film “Jokes aside” was, in my opinion, much more impressive.
Of course, it would be possible to perceive this picture as a parody of American militants, American comedies and the American way of life - but the parody should also be funny, not stupid.
And most importantly, this is not the first time when, having made a bad movie, the creators take on a sequel. That’s what it means – there is no hard-core production dictate. Sometimes it is just necessary to give hands, and direct creative energy in the right direction. After all, Cad Merad has very good comedies in his career - for example, "Beaver to scold!" or "Little Nicolas." Of course, he didn’t write a script for them. That's clearly not his strong suit. So you don't have to pick up the pen if you're better at crooking in front of the camera.
