I think this film is very important for cinema. It destroys stereotypes as if the old movie is very boring, tense-emotional, unoriginal. This film traces the style - it is clear that invested a lot of effort in the construction of scenery and camera work. “Everybody Sings” looks like an almost modern action, and only rarely do you realize that you are in front of a film made almost eighty years ago. Plus, there is a soul, a sense of a place where I would like to stay.
Some heroes play in a pattern. Others give it away and you feel it. In addition to Judy Garland, who is already charmingly shining here and does not give the slightest doubt about her dizzying career in the future, I would like to mention the very charismatic Fanny Bryce – together with Allan Johnson, they literally energize you through the screen. Separate scenes cause emotion. I want to light my old fireplace, pour myself a favorite drink and under the crack of sawdust to watch this charming performance, leaving a cruel world somewhere behind the oak door.
This is a very underrated movie.
