The power of love is great. For good reason, the 80s in Indian cinema is my favorite. So many amazing films were made during that period. Yesterday I watched another film from the early 80s of Sanjaya Dutta. The story is interesting, from the very beginning it captures and does not let go until the end. But I will be consistent and write in order.
So the actors:
The main character of the film, a guy named Sanjay (Sanjay Dutt), the son of a rich widow who does not revere her soul in him. Sanjay Here is incredibly young, I would even say young, he is probably 18-19 years old here (I have never seen him so young), and it seems that he is only taking his very first steps in cinema. His look, his sweet ironic smile, and most importantly, his unique gait with characteristic movements, are already clearly visible. This gait Sanjaya can be recognized in any crowd of thousands. In this story, his character is a very kind romantic guy who does not know anything about giving up his mother. Having met a nice girl, he falls in love with her, but when it comes to marriage, the main secret of his mother is revealed, carefully hidden for many years behind seven seals. And then everything turns with a new force.
The next character is Mother Sanjaya, respected in society, the “noble and decent” widow of a famous doctor, Kavita-ji, whom everyone reveres (as is customary in films of those years). Rakhi Gulzar very skillfully and believably showed her character (although there is no doubt about it), she is a very talented actress, a beautiful woman, and one of the best screen mothers of Indian cinema. But it's not as simple as the nice woman we all know. There’s a secret in her life that she doesn’t want anyone to know, and she’ll do anything for it. After watching the movie, you will know what it is about.
The father of our hero Sanjaya, a well-known children's doctor throughout the city, Mr. Kaylash Goyel. His role was performed by Shashi Kapoor. Of course, he is shown little, only in the memoirs of his wife, but Shashi is always chic, even in such a small role. All the contradictions, all the emotions and feelings of his character showed very accurately and qualitatively, as only he can show. I liked his character. Just a man dreamed of a happy family with a lot of children (not for nothing because he is a children's doctor), but his dreams (about a lot of children) did not come true (the Lord called him earlier).
Beloved Sanjaya, a girl named Anita, played by actress Anita Raj. She is also young, very direct, sincere and beautiful (and not in the first film I see her paired with Sanju). All the feelings of her heroine, all the emotions she showed very qualitatively and well. I believed her. And tears and love and confusion and fear, all very real. Well done, I liked her work in this movie. However, for all her youth, she looked much older than the thin, long-legged, and very young Sanjay. At times, they did not resemble a couple of lovers, but an older sister with a younger brother. They looked very romantic together.
Not the last role in this story was played by an aunt Anita, who raised her instead of her mother. The Brilliant Rekha Oh, how good it is here, there are simply no words (although Rekha is always and everywhere not just good, but brilliant). Her character is a very kind, sensual and insanely beautiful woman who also hides one difficult secret from her past. And as always magnificent, in bright saris, very graceful and even huge glasses, on the floor of the face, do not spoil this unearthly beauty. I especially like her at the end, when they close up her eyes, how much suffering is expressed in them, how much pain, how much unclaimed love, and at the same time incredible happiness. It is impossible to describe, it only needs to be seen to become clear. Rekha is incomparable here
Here are the five main characters of this story (I won’t describe them too long), which made it very attractive and very interesting. The whole story is filled with mystery and intrigue. In addition to young lovers, each of the heroes of this story has “hidden skeleton in the closet.” I also liked the music, beautiful romantic songs, beautiful clips, beautiful main characters. The voiceover is one-voice, in a female voice, but quite good, the quality of the film is also noticeably improved, although the "spots" of the old film are sometimes visible on the screen, but all this does not spoil the impression of viewing. In general, fans of the 80s cinema, and any of the actors who played in this film, I highly recommend. Interesting story.
