The story of a snob in a skirt and a man of many talents To get married, I have to make more money!
- Marriage requires love, not money. (c)
Yoon Hae Jin is a dentist who is too arrogant with wealthy clients and has to leave the clinic. In Seoul, she is not hired because of her bad temper, so she decides to open her own clinic.
But rent in the capital is too expensive, and Yoon Hae-jin, along with his girlfriend Mi-sung, moves to a small seaside town where garbage is disposed of only on Wednesdays, and the 15th and 30th of each month are sanitary days, when all residents sweep the streets. Here she meets the all-hands-master, aka Hong Doo Sik, or simply Mr. Hong. He looks for her office and helps her repair it.
Have you started yet? I was a little late...
- Well, then. Just look at her... You ever hear of an early bird? It's mid-morning! (c)
Mr. Hong is local, and knows how to do everything: repair electronics, paint, cook, sing to the guitar, fight, play Go and God knows what else. And how a real friend repeatedly rescues Yoon Hae-jin: protects from bandits, releases her from prison twice and even pretends to be her boyfriend before Mr. Yoon... Or isn't he pretending? He also has a boat on the hill, a warehouse in which he lives, as well as many records and books.
If I had put it on the water... I was afraid she'd run away from me. It's weird, but when I loved someone or something, they all walked away from me. (c)
I really liked this movie! What are the dialogues of the main characters, full of studs to each other! It is interesting to watch how the metropolitan thing lives in a small town and tries to get used to local customs, whether it is cleaning or talking in between. Also very amused secondary heroine Mi Son - a lover of a drink with a very long tongue, and the scene in which the locals caught Hae Jin coming out of the warehouse of Mr. Hong.
The film looks very organic and in one breath! It is very interesting to observe the relationship of people as diverse as He Jin and Mr. Hong. That's a great mood!
I recommend this film to all lovers of South Korean comedy melodramas!
