Sarah Silverman shocks Sundance with her dramatic performance. Ideal at first glance, the wife and mother Lanie Brooks with each new scene opens the viewer the dark sides of his nature: aggression against random acquaintances, easy and not very drugs, pathological lies, refusal to communicate with his father and brother, drunkenness and sex for one night in a cheap bar, betrayal of her husband with his best friend - it seems that the avalanche of vices of this woman does not see an end and an end. Literally in any episode, the famous stand-up comedian Sarah Silverman, because of whom we actually watch this film, appears to be a completely different, unfamiliar to us, artist. Without uttering a single joke from the screen, and having smiled a few times, Silverman struck in a good way. For less than an hour and a half of timekeeping, we completely forget about the comedic talents of Sarah – she delivers such a high-quality and perfect drama from the screen, without hesitation to expose the soul and body of her heroine. In addition, this heavy picture does not seek any compromise with the viewer. Performed in the traditional American genre of family drama-intervention, the film for the finale honestly admits that it is extremely difficult to solve such conflicts, the seeds of which grow from early childhood, and the conclusion in the style of “they lived happily ever after” is unlikely.
