1928. II Olympic The year 1928. Switzerland. In St. Moritz, the Second Olympic Games are held, and the maestro of mountain cinema, the great Arnold Funk, shoots a documentary dedicated to this. We are told about this lovely Swiss city, show all the competitions and briefly share their results.
As a result, we are immersed in the carnival of winter sports. Skeleton, bobsleigh, hockey, figure skating and, of course, skiing. Arnold Funk shared with us a brief account of them.
Especially curling. A special essay was also made about this sport, although based on reports it was not included in the Olympic program. You can't hide from the evidence of the past! Agree, there is something sacred in watching curling almost 100 years ago!
No less stunning are the cadres of equestrian skyjoring. Now this sport, unfortunately, is no longer in the Olympic programs.
And more... This is not an ordinary sports report in the understanding of our contemporaries. Back then, there were no TV templates imposed by media giants. Many plans, installation, camera work show us an elegant, author's view, far from what sports events now show.
What to hide, now all these sports are not so in demand, both sponsors and viewers. Maybe it's the way they're shown. I would suggest that many of Arnold Funk’s decisions could make a reboot now even in figure skating. . .
