Why not make such a stupid series? They say at first that he is a social phobia, but more like mild autism. A super hacker, you work for a super-duper security company, where all managers are more like accountants, who call Eliot in case of any problem. It's like he works there alone. Super hacker who breaks accounts by brute force passwords and uses a little SI skill, but it's just ridiculous.
Why not shoot a worthwhile series about a hacker who is really interested in material values who really has problems in communicating with peers, girls. To show his life path from his youth and the first money that he thoughtlessly spent on pleasure and reached the top when he is interested in something more serious. Be it hacking into banking systems and uncovering political secrets. This is not a film that is a parody of something like a "fight club."
The series looks hard because of the moronic behavior of the main actor and his supposedly super skills at the level of a schoolboy hacking stim. The real series is "autism."
In the modern world, there are not many films in the style of cyberpunk, and good films in this direction can generally be counted on the fingers. Therefore, personally, I was very much waiting for a new series with a concise and intriguing title ' Mr. Robot'. The series came out, leaving on my soul completely different notches: from sincere joy and pleasure to irreconcilable feelings of anger. But everything in order.
At the moment, one season of the series, telling the story of Elliot Alderson, has been released, but the second season, which is a prequel to the first, is already preparing for release. The plot of the first season is built around a young man, Elliot Alderson, played by Rami Malek, who works as a cybersecurity specialist for a firm specializing in this field. There he arranged an old girlfriend, familiar since childhood, Angela, who is the main female character of the film. This role was played by Portia Doubleday. Elliot lives his normal life, everything goes smoothly, when suddenly, at one point, Elliot meets a strange man dressed as a homeless man. He often meets him on the street, after work, on the subway, after training with a psychologist, a middle-aged woman Elliot goes to see. While the firm, the largest conglomerate Elliot calls the Evil Corporation 39, is attacked by unknown hackers with an unknown purpose, Elliot, protecting its servers, doing his immediate work, finds a file on the server, opens it and discovers the inscription & #39;fsociety'. The next day, the homeless man stalking Elliot tells him to go with him, unless he's deleted the file. This homeless man turns out to be the leader of a small group of hackers, developing a plan similar to Tyler Durden’s plan from Fight Club #39, namely to destroy the stock exchange, thereby freeing people from debt on loans, nullifying the entire banking system of the world. Only unlike Tyler’s method, whose plan was to blow up all skyscrapers, the hacking group’s methods are less extreme and radical. They are not going to blow up anything, or rather the hero of Christian Slater wants just that, but Elliot suggests not to make a noise, but to quietly hack into the most secure and secure server room in the world.
The whole plot of the series is built around this hack, in addition to weaving a large number of secondary storylines, some of which look much fresher and more interesting than the struggle with the system, when literally two or three people change the world in a short time, turning it upside down. Comparison 'Mr. Robot' with 'Fight Club' emerges from the first series of the series. The fight against the system, an attempt to dump the entire banking network of the world, and even the main plot twist of the series, regarding the psychological problems of the main character, is purely copied from the cult film by Fincher. Secondary storylines, telling great stories about secret conspiracies, industrial wars and corporate espionage - something that the modern corporate world can not do without - the best that is in the series. The plus of the series is that it is interestingly presented from the technical side. First, realism in showing hacking, software and other technical attributes. For some time, program code is code, not animated images, like James Bond movies. Secondly, unusual camera work, which runs counter to the typical conventional formula: the main object should be located in the center of the frame. Thirdly, the excellent atmosphere of the majestic New York, always different, as if he, as a person, has a character that tends to change.
Elliot’s eternal suffering over his loneliness begins to annoy from the very first episodes, just like the lofty pathos of speeches about a rotten society. Many critics saw this as self-criticism, saying that the series itself understands what it is and thus mocks itself, but personally I did not see any bane in this, because everything that happens in the series happens with a serious facial expression, without any other emotions.
Bottom line: ' Mr. Robot' is a pretty good series about realistic hackers doing unrealistic things. There are meaningless picturesque speeches and actions. But despite all the numerous disadvantages, the series has enough pluses, most belong to an unusual presentation, thanks to which the series manages to keep the brand.

Mr. Robot is a series that wraps you in a plot, like the web of the modern world, a series about a man ready to destroy this web.
The series is similar to the cult fight club, but created in a completely different manner, and with an emphasis on completely different plot moments. It’s nice to see on screen what you can’t do in real life, it’s nice to see one person wanting to save billions. The series has already created its hero of the 21st century, it is not a man with superpower, and not a man with kung fu. He does not want his own gain, he does not seek power and wealth, he only wants to breathe clean air, and he wants the whole world around him to breathe it.
The first season showed that destroying everything is an idea worth living, but is fighting the world around it an illusion of your own desires, or will it destroy everything we hold dear? We'll see you in season two.
I remember well-chosen actors and high-quality camera work.
The series is burdened with monologues, the bet is only on the hero Malek, there are very few dialogues. And only due to the rapidly developing plot, the first season was not bad.

'Mr. Robot' - from the first minutes of watching the series, it may seem that this title is an allusion to the main character, a metaphorical explanation of the hero's lack of emotion. But to Christian Bale in ' Equilibrium' Rami Malek in terms of lack of emotion is a long way off, and the name here is still a little deeper than it seems at first glance.
The story tells us about the main hero-hacker with a full set of complexes and all sorts of social phobias. Against this background, a very, very intriguing disclosure of the character unfolds, however, leaving the season in the open finale. Intrigue, by the way, is all that this series is based on, and it can not be said that it is bad. With the help of a good script, the creators really manage to put banal things in the dialogues by the actors so that they can no longer dodge it. You're going to watch the first season until the end. As in any good series with potential for many seasons, the personal development of the main character, perhaps, is not even the basis during the change of situations and dynamics of events, catharsis in the course of the plot. Development only permeates all this entourage, but it is difficult to say that there is a primary basis. It's a real symbiosis. And the entourage here is verified with accuracy (on the contrary?!) - an alternative universe, the main conglomerate in the world, the world evil corporation and the plot twists and turns around the economy and its possible fall. The creators decided not to blame anyone in the open, but guess now we are with you, who they could mean by ' Evil Corporation' (literally in the series), you can as much as you like. And what, in fact, can be the accusations. Here the image is rather generalized, the image of the economic engine of the world, but also the image of the main world evil on the other hand.
The immaculately brilliantly played image of Martin Wollstrom, whose character is a middle manager - clearly hints to us that it drew inspiration from ' American Psyco' from Bale. It is not for nothing that we mentioned it at the beginning of the review. All these messages that revolve around the series are firmly tied to the factors of human greed, the imperfection of the system, the dependence of the world on the global economy and large firms, and all this against the background of the rapidly developing story of the protagonist Elliot. I don’t want to mention ' Fight Club' nor the recent 'Who I am' but a story spiced with the schizophrenia of one of the characters in the series will repeatedly kick you in the ass. Now you have solved everything, and one of them has a shiz, like no... You still miss a little bit. This is a very different story.
Going back to the dialogue - thanks to the skillful script, even banal things in not the strongest actors look sometimes fascinating and terrifyingly intriguing. Here's Christian Slater with his Golden Globe statuette in his pocket puts on his baseball cap and starts screaming, saying, the world is not perfect, and maybe you're not perfect, Elliot?! And, like a brain, you understand that this is not the level of Kubrick (and where will the second Kubrick?), but to break away from the screen is impossible.
I don’t want to throw spoilers, because any mention of the main plot here is one way or another – but still, the juice here is not in the collapse of the global economy. Not in the open final. Not even in Slater, whose character here is surprisingly both banal and captivatingly good. Absolutely intriguing here is the personal life of the character Malek, which in the first series will seem to you such as it will not be in the future.
Definitely one of the best TV series of recent years, flirting with material level ' Cosmopolis' Kronenberg and ' American Psychopath' with a general focus on the thriller about hackers. The creators, drawing inspiration from the hacker group 'Anonymousov', go more into the plot and details than in the message, but the importance of the latter does not cancel.
Rami Malek without the statuette, it's fixable.
If it were not for boredom, I would never have looked at Mr. Robot 39 until the end, and I would have been wrong. The first thing that catches the eye is the secondaryness, the stiltness of the characters, the lack of logic - in short, everything that third-rate series are glorious for. Sometimes you pay attention to the camera work, sometimes a good soundtrack is surprising, but even they seem pretentious stupidity against the background of nonsense happening in the script. Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, really? Too complex characters, seem too complex, allusions to the fight club, matrix, spider-man and what else is frankly annoying. During the day I work in an IT company, and at night, I am a shadow man, an elusive vigilante in a hood - well, you agree, is this not cranberry?
By the middle of the season, everything begins to fall into place and transforms into an exciting dark journey to Wonderland. It turns out that the script is the strongest part of the show, while the audience can not say anything specific about any of the characters by the end of the season. The lack of harmony and logic in the first series turns into a brilliant postmodern (sorry) joke - I will have to reconsider them again, otherwise assessing Beethoven and 'pop' allusions. 'Mr. Robot' is an upside-down series and currently the most unpredictable show. Or not?
It's not Mr. Robot, it's superfluous! And not even wh1ter0se, it is a relic of the past, meaningless and ridiculous against the background of the topical plot. Fsociety is a hacker group that challenges the strongest corporation. In this series, almost for the first time, the essence of cybercrime is adequately shown - it is not a dull scene of coding, but not worms running around the monitor like a child's toy. The current story with excellent quality of technical implementation is the main reason why you should pay attention to the project.
This isn't Mr. Robot, he shouldn't be here at all! This is Elliot Alderson – a drug addict, social phobia and, concurrently, a brilliant hacker. Rami Malek perfectly got used to the image, he was even able to naturally play drug withdrawal and his own madness. At the same time, the guy is not a downtrodden nerd, he is able to quickly make decisions, have sex, work, i.e. this is not a stereotype, but a living character, with a personal life and his interesting story.
It's not Mr. Robot, seriously! More like Tyrel Wellick, who's pretty damn good in his role even after falling off Olympus. Even his wife is more interesting and relevant than that damn Mr. Robot! Stephanie Corneliussen, at least, has an attractive appearance and a well-developed character. Again, the BDSM with a pregnant woman, the scene of psychological domination over a stranger’s wife peeing in the toilet... well, except that homosexuality was superfluous here, since I am annoyed by its imposition in every second series.
But back to Mr. Robot. In fact, this is not even a character, but it is impossible to explain this moment without a spoiler. Therefore, I will only say that his story is the most incompetent and meaningless, and inappropriate, and illogical, and simply stupid ... turning an interesting plot into snotty nonsense about children’s complexes against the background of psychological trauma. Had it not been for the post-credits scene in the last series, I would have said that the series went from triumph to disappointment in one season, which took House of Cards three (still waiting for the fourth, of course). Given the scene, he still remained at a high level, but ... without one plot twist, this could be the maximum score.

Having accidentally stumbled upon a short review of this series, I did not expect that Mr. Robot will cause in me a storm of emotions that do not subside even after watching other series.
Comparing with other series is not possible. It just so happened that the series is on ' a special shelf '. The only thing you can draw an analogy with is the film Who am I.
I must say, the topics covered in Mr. Robot is very relevant in our digital age of technology. We live in a time when almost all of us rely on our reliable, secure, smart gadgets.
But are they as reliable and smart as we think they are? The protagonist, a gifted specialist and suffering from social phobia (probably, like many people who spend most of their time with technology), Elliot shows everyone how we are mistaken.
If you look, the reality is not very different from the situation shown in the series. Essentially, we are all also ' under the hood' with big corporations: all our data, accounts, personal information - everything is stored somewhere on servers in the form of 0 and 1.
The illusion of freedom is what Elliot struggles with. And they fight with very interesting methods - modern technologies. Watching the main character Elliot is not just interesting. It's fascinating. Yes, his struggle is not only clicking on the keys, all this is accompanied by many different tricks and tricks that allow you to achieve goals. Elliott’s decisions are understandable – he justifies them in his thoughts, which is very interesting to observe. Yeah, he's a burglar. But the information he receives, he uses for good purposes (1). Can you describe the hero clearly? I'm not, and that's a lot of interest.
The image of Elliot, shown by Rami Malek, although somewhat stereotyped - very memorable, I want to say: 'I believe.'
The image of Tyrel Wellick (Martin Volstrom) was also ingrained in memory. Purposeful, even obsessed, Wellick commits a lot of actions that will settle in your head.
I can’t say anything bad about the other actors and their images, all at the level.
Everything and everyone is quite plausible.
There will be everything: intrigues, questions, many questions, emotions, brilliant thoughts and plans.
The series will drag you on, no doubt, so find 10 hours of free time and enjoy yourself. There is no other way to watch the series.
And although there are only zero and unit, is it possible to have an unambiguous opinion?
I am definitely looking forward to it!
This world has long been doomed to be hacked and taken over by a virus. The only question is when will that happen? And while the planet feeds on garbage and does not spit them, those who see a white dot on a black canvas still walk on the earth. I see a white dot on a black canvas, so I want to make everyone enjoy life. But why don't I do that? Why don't we all do this? Where's People's Kick-Ass and Batman? Is it that we are afraid of losing the very life that is filled with black with glimpses of white? Probably it is, but I want to believe that the reason is also that in reality each of us realizes how little we can do to make the world different.
One of us lives in Mr. Robot, but he took a chance. He left everything and began to change the world with the abilities he has. No nunchucks and expensive gadgets. This world can not be fixed, it can only be cured for a while. The protagonist seems to find himself and those who can help him in finding the very world to strive for.
In fact, the series called Mr. Robot is about all those who would like to change the world for the better, who are willing to sacrifice themselves for those around us. It's about us. He's me. In another universe. I'm Mr. Robot.
So now I'm going to tell you how to make a good show out of ingredients. We will need a couple of sharp plots from all known films, a few simple monologues and phrases, a pinch of plagiarism from popular series, a handful of fresh actors and intrigue to taste.
The first thing you need to do is prepare the main character. We stuff it with all kinds of spices: sociopathy, drug addiction, the genius of the hacker, the mystery of the desire to change the world and you can add a little gloom. Don’t worry if you overdo it with spices, some gourmet viewers will eat this crack behind their ears. Also stuff it with a secret ingredient, it will add flavor and give you the opportunity to experiment with the plot.
Then we take a handful of secondary characters, also lubricated with their various spices, but trying not to overshadow the taste of the main character. A couple of characters can be put for beauty, but they should not influence the plot in any way, we will add them as decorations of the series so that it seems even more mysterious.
We roast all the ingredients in turn at medium heat, then lay them out in the series in thin layers between them lubricating plagiarism and intrigue, but the main thing is to lubricate evenly and gradually, so as not to turn the series into porridge. Seasoned with murders, unexpected turns of events and a dashing finale. The main thing is not to disclose all the secrets at once, if you wish, they can be left for later, so that the audience will come to you to eat for the second season.
As you can see, preparing a delicious series is not so difficult.
Serve hot, because when the series cools down, probably not everyone will like it.
Bon appetit!
I chose the title of the review not by chance, the fact is that when you watch this series, then inadvertently no less successful full-length film with a similar, I would even say very similar story, at one time sunk into the souls of millions of people, pops up in memory. The same revolution, at the head of the series is absolutely the same idea, the main character, almost a complete copy of the predecessor. But something in this series has its own, and that'something' more than enough to call the series a success. And let us all perfectly understand what inspired the creators of this story, but each film is the embodiment of something of a vision of life and here it is very interesting.
No, the plot is not stolen, only a global idea, thought is taken, and otherwise this is another exciting story about a hacker guy who decided to change the world at one moment, but I will immediately say that you notice the analogies not immediately, but about the middle (end) of the first season. All the rest of the time you watch an interesting plot, sprinkled with a qualitatively created atmosphere (here, however, again you can see borrowings) and, of course, the wonderful play of the actors, everyone plays more than decently, especially like the game of Martin Volstrom, who plays Trailer Valik.
I also liked the main ideas in the series, very interesting dialogues and metaphors that make you think. 'Are you zero or one?!'
After watching the first season, I am under a good impression, I hope the continuation will not disappoint me, but I immediately want to note the moments that slightly add a drop of tar.
First, some series (episodes) vary greatly in their plot power. That is, after the incredibly powerful first series comes the second, slightly weaker, then the third is even slightly weaker, then again 'BOOM!'. This does not affect the whole story, but when considering each series separately, it is noticeable. Maybe it's just my quirks.
Secondly, I do not like the name of the main evil of the whole series 'Evil corporation' (Evil Corporation). It is clear that this alteration of the name is only in the head of the main character, but such a staging of the enemy is not very good and sometimes repulsive. Just like in children's fairy tales: ' Here's this one, but here's the one good!'
If you are still thinking: 'Should I watch it or not?', I will answer: 'Required!'. This series will appeal to ordinary people and people inextricably connected with the IT industry (the second is a little more).
Trust me, everything will be fine now. We met at a strange time in my life.
The rabbit hole of the human ego, a portal to the world of dreams, hallucinations, schizophrenic projections of an infected society. There's no cure. Morphine will pacify the inflamed symptoms that eat the soul with boils. And more than anything in the world, I want to squeeze out, smoke out of myself the bigotry that these hellish orderlies, henchmen of social culture, fans of pop music, adepts of selfies and Zuckerberg instill in us. The eyes are filled with the blood of ancestors, and the virus has paralyzed the limbs so deeply that there is no strength to get up and walk. Politicians, bankers and prostitutes scurry around. And morphine flows through the heavy body, plunging into a deep lethargic sleep. Salvation is a fiction of the weak and lifeless, comatose envelops a sticky web of death, loneliness and misunderstanding, so why then these ridiculous attempts to adapt themselves to the everyday somnambulist, devouring freedom of thought, freedom of choice, the ability to speak the truth without fear. Why, in the battle between good and evil, is it difficult to understand which side is good and which is evil? It will not be possible to catch demons, it is too late, it remains only to destroy them, destroy carriers, destroy carriers, leave no chance of enslaving human nature. Terrorism on the scale of its own worldview: destroy the world from within. Destroy the world within. Become a robot.
The human psyche is an extremely complex construction. It is influenced by an infinite number of factors, which ultimately leads to unpredictable metamorphoses of personality. Sociopath and sociophobe Elliot works as a programmer in an IT company engaged in ensuring information security of a large company. A dystopian corporate Olympus, led by gods in ironed suits, with predatory eyes descending to the ground only to vent anger at a homeless man, beating him half to death.
Elliot is an extremely controversial image. Along with all sorts of symptoms of mental disorder, addiction to morphine and childhood injuries, a sense of banal compassion and the desire to love, love ordinary things, love ordinary people try to get along in it. In this complex film vessel lies the crazy philosophy of modern man and modernity in general. This is a look into the future, flirting with world evolution, an attempt to understand what a person has come to during all his development in society. What kind of world do we live in, why do we live, and does it make any sense? Elliot is a strangely collective image. It is multifaceted and each of its planes reflects a certain quality or vice.
Images in the series occupy, if not the first, then certainly one of the main places on the pedestal of the merits and engines of this creation. So rich, pathologically insane and extremely curious characters, coupled with very modest by name, the movie world has not seen for a long time. Mr. robot risks becoming a new trend, innovator and revolutionary not only among hipstoty with shaved temples and listening to electronics, but also become a full-fledged “icebreaker” in the genre of modern cinema. Among the obvious advantages and no less obvious discoveries is the presence of the Scandinavian hand in the quartet of conductors of the film symphony Mr. Robot. Mixing styles allows the picture to break out of the endless series of its predecessors, who sinned with serial stamps, which pretty annoyed sophisticated movie fans. The director's touches of the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo are visible in almost every shot. Lynch’s Darkness of Dreams on the Verge of Reality, Fincher’s Presentation and Viewpoints, Villeneuve Finals. Competently integrating and formatting borrowings from the masters of the workshop, the director's ensemble gives a hitherto unseen part, from which goosebumps run on the skin. All this looks very natural, no one fakes or fails, cogs and mechanisms are spinning in the right direction. You seem to be watching more than just a show. Each series is a separate teleattraction, after which you only want to once again sit in a chair in an irresistible anticipation to witness the starting uncomplicated title -MR.ROBOT.
The right person in the wrong place can turn the world around.
The series is very unusual from the point of view of an amateur, not everyone will like this approach. It can not be compared with other films about hackers or computer geniuses or sociophobes and highly active sociopaths, it is a cocktail that mixed everything possible - a cocktail called: ' Revolution of Consciousness'. Have you seen the fight club and been satisfied? Then this series should not disappoint you!
Here is a very good work of the directors made qualitatively, but it could be better.
The script is executed simply magnificently, each series develops understanding and tries to push you beyond your perception of this rotten world.

After watching the 2nd season of Silicon Valley, I realized that the 3rd will not appear soon, and decided to find something similar. Found it. Of course, not quite the same, but in general there are computers and dudes shifted on this, which means it will. The first season was complete in a few days. I just want to say that the “bait” for the second season was not very big. That is, the first season has a very logical conclusion, which went through all ten episodes. The creators of the series, of course, clearly hinted that everything will not end so simply and the continuation follows, but the effect of “rather, rather, find out what is next” did not arise.
What’s exciting is how the technical aspect of the film is shown. You can immediately see that money from the budget was allocated for consultations with professionals, or at least with knowledgeable people. And not in vain, because the target audience of this series is just people familiar with information technology. Unlike most movies or TV shows, where hackers are shown as spectacles, far from real life, and hacking banks with a ping team in 10 seconds, there really is something to see. Quite well shown tools that are used in this area, both at the software and "iron" levels. Of course, everything turns out much faster than it would be in real life, but who wants to watch how when a server is hacked, the hero suddenly forgets the syntax of the team and climbs into the manual or begins to Google? Everyone wants to see guys who succeed in two or three teams, these teams they must remember by heart, and if there is any selection, it should take well, not more than a minute (and this is despite the fact that a fairly simple numerical password can be selected for several hours). In general, everyone wants action – everyone gets action.
In general, the series looks quite vivid, it is hoped that in the second season the authors will present an unexpected plot twist, and will not stagnate.

The series was recommended to me as a breath of fresh air amid stories of cops, lawyers and superheroes. On the one hand, it is, the story of a sociophobic computer genius who decided to challenge the financial system, captivates with its theme, but if you look closely, all this has already happened. In some places and even plagiarism looks like, frankly...
I watched the whole first season, but could not finally decide how much I liked it, so I leave a “gray” review. There are too many “buts” in this seemingly fascinating story. I'll start with heroes... I liked the choice of the actor for the main role, coped well with it and his appearance is quite interesting and memorable. Christian Slater is the adornment of the series, and not at all because he is the only hyped “star” on the list. But about the rest I can not say anything definite... Perhaps the fault is not actors, but directors and screenwriters. Frankly speaking, I did not feel sympathy for anyone, so I did not care about their fate. I didn't like Darlene or Sheila, and Tyrell and his wife wanted to be strangled from the start. One can understand the presence of such characters, but ultimately their role remained unclear. Why did they speak a different language and what did she keep hinting at? Why did Tyrell, with all his determination, do such stupid things? The story with Sheila quickly unfolded and just as quickly disappeared into oblivion, one can only wonder - was it all really? Angela seems cute, but a fool, but at the end of the season is an extremely valuable shot, admired by big shots. In general, the feeling of a certain absurdity and incongruity of what was happening visited me quite often. It was especially surprising how Elliott unobtrusively goes to work, they have a free visit there, or what? And when his boss literally grabbed his tail, how come he forgot about it? His firm is sinking, he has a suspect responsible for his collapse, but somehow it gets out of his head. It seems that anyone, even the most inexperienced police detective, can easily find Elliot, too many points to him. But for some reason, the police do not seem to be interested in this case at all. In short, there are more questions than answers. The frank borrowing from one of my favorite films was outraged. And finally, that Elliot for social phobia is when he is perfectly able not only to communicate with people, but also to threaten them, and punch clearly does not disdain.
But nevertheless, despite all the above, something made me watch the show to the end and even give it a 7 out of 10 rating. Elliot and his adventures must have been bribed. And there is hope that everything will become more interesting and in the new season there will be fewer inconsistencies.

I finally got my hands on writing a review of Mr. Robot. The main character, Elliot is a hacker, a social phobia, an extremely closed person with many cockroaches in his head. Ambiguous, rather strange, but catchy, as confusing as computer code, which he writes all day long. Elliot's got the whole show on him. Perhaps the most important component of the script is the dramaturgical monologues of the protagonist about work, love, and society. In this light, it is impossible not to note the acting of Rami Malek, again and again turning Elliot’s heart outward.
Any viewer inevitably has associations with various films: with “V for Vendetta”, “Fight Club”, “Dexter” and others. However, this does not kill the uniqueness of “Robot”, and the authors themselves masterfully play the similarity of films with musical accompaniment (I will not specify to avoid spoilers), thanks to which the series only fascinates more. Yes, directing and camera work are tangible advantages of Mr. Robot. Sam Esmail invented so many fresh and unusual techniques that we will repeatedly see them in newer films.
“Mr. Robot” is a logical cultural trend of the XXI century. The authors show us what a revolution it is in the information society, what a modern hero it is, and what millions are ready to follow. Screenwriters skillfully went through many sick topics, exaggerating both the shortcomings and advantages of modern people.
As a result, we have a tragic, dynamic, acutely social drama series, which (if not slow down in subsequent seasons) will be included in the lists of modern classics of cinema. Of course, “Mr. Robot” is not an ideal, but its courage, bold message and beautiful form of narrative do not give a single chance to remain indifferent.

There's too much around autistic geek girls. And everyone loves him, someone wants to, someone is friends, and someone is like a sister. But no one is indifferent to him. Suspicious.
Something too bluntly demonstrates how Elliot destroys data. Burn the processor? Excuse me?
File with the phone. He has a sixth iPhone, then a Samsung Galaxi. Em. He may have two phones. He may have taken an android so he couldn't go through WiFi to where he stores his data. Maybe. But we all know that he keeps them on disks under the closet. And no self-respecting geek will keep their data on their phone. In general, his iPhone should be virginally clean. Except for his account, but, uh, letting him go on a date with Vera asked him for ID. So changing phones is a blatant blunder. Notable.
Well, if you just want to see a movie about how a person fights the system, look. But it has almost nothing to do with reality. What he says about hacker capabilities has nothing new in its foundation. Everything has been known for a long time.
Well, for ordinary users, normal.
Every year an increasing number of TV series falls on the average viewer, and with this number, which, by the way, has already become absolutely prohibitive, the overall amplitude of quality is growing, that is, the difference between the conditionally best and conditionally worst series on the market at the moment is simply colossal. It is no wonder that in such conditions the eye involuntarily clings to the familiar names of writers, directors or at least actors, as for some guarantee of quality. To spend a few hours of his life, not to be fooled after a senseless crafts that does not carry any artistic value. With 'Mr. Robot' I broke this rule, no one on the show team was familiar to me from previous projects. All I had was recommendations from friends and intriguing footage on social media. I am so glad I gave him a chance.
' Mr. Robot' does not waste time on introductions and long acquaintances with the characters, we are immediately thrown into the plot, into action, into the head of the main character. Yes, we are literally in the thoughts of the protagonist of the series, Elliot. Thus, the authors masterfully break down the fourth wall and assign the viewer the role of an imaginary friend of the main character. It is worth believing in this and imbuing yourself with this idea, how you involuntarily catch yourself on the fact that you mentally answer the main character to the questions that he throws into the depths of his inflamed mind, where we were hiding, hiding and watching.
In general ' Mr. Robot' very skillfully handles your time and, like one of his characters, appreciates every minute of your time, making the most of the timekeeping of the series, literally flooding the viewer with actions, thoughts and metaphors. Metaphors are a separate story. The authors, creating a series on hacker topics, constantly draw parallels between the processes occurring in the world of people and the processes and terms used in the technical environment, pushing the viewer to think about the similarity of their natural intelligence with artificial intelligence embedded in modern computers. Once in this cycle of technical metaphors, the viewer loses the line between the world of ones and zeros and the world of thinking people. This line does not exist for a long time for the main character, who hacks people, finding their vulnerabilities and mistakes.
If you think about it, ' Mr. Robot' is the perfect product of our time. While watching the series, it seems that you are observing a slice of modern geek culture and trends. The authors show what a modern revolution and a modern hero should look like, acting solely with his extraordinary brain and unable to communicate with other people. In this very hero, the creators exaggerate all the advantages and disadvantages of modern man. Screenwriters, as if on a list, go through all relevant and exciting topics of our technological society. And in general for a geek ' Mr. Robot' - this is a real holiday, the heart warms the font of the title of the series, borrowed from the logo of the company SEGA. And then the references are even more, the apogee they reach at the end of the ninth series, where the creators do not hesitate to make an elegant curtsey directing and musical accompaniment towards their mastermind (in order to avoid spoilers, I do not say which one), forcing the viewer’s heart to beat more often. Musical accompaniment, by the way, is generally stable at altitude. The local synthetic soundtrack enters into symbiosis with the synthetic world of neon lights, lines of program code and sinister corporations, creating absolutely the right mood and adding dynamics.
Another plus of the series is tangible directorial and camera work. It’s nice that finally the series in this regard are approaching the big movie and the quality of performance is growing with fantastic speed. And here in such series as ' Mr. Robot' we can enjoy interesting directorial decisions, and camera work becomes a full-fledged means of expression. The more such work, the better.
There is not much to say about acting. Another gear in a polished and polished machine called 'Mr. Robot': All the actors are in their seats and perfectly cope with the roles. Separately, I would like to note perhaps the lead actor Rami Malek, whose career will clearly go uphill after such a successfully embodied role of the autistic genius and Christian Slater in the role of psychopath Mr. Robot. Well, it was nice to see Michael Gill again, remembered for the role of President Walker in ' House of Cards'.
As a result, we got a very dynamic topical, acute social drama about the vices of modern society, the power of technological progress and the fight against the system. ' Mr. Robot' imperfect, sometimes he wants to seem deeper than he is, sometimes too fond of thinking about loneliness, and some of the ideas we have already somehow seen in other works. But at the same time, it remains bold, beautifully shot and, most importantly, a smart series that has something to show and tell the viewer.
Mr. Robot, as one of the best series of our time. ..
Mr. Robot is a 2015 drama series about programmer Elliot Alderson, who is part of a hacking group called fsociety, intent on revolutionizing the world.
The series keeps the pace perfectly, gaining momentum from the first series, which quite cheerfully introduces us to the course. You will not get bored in all 10 episodes.
Characters. The characters are well designed. You believe and empathize with everyone. I especially want to mention GG Elliot, he's great. In all 10 episodes, you change your attitude to him and his actions. And with his role as a hacker-social phobia GG copes with hurrah. There are also many secondary characters who are devoted to the storylines of the second plan.
Plot. While watching Mr Robot you find similarities with many famous films: 'Fight Club', 'V means vendetta', 'American Psychopath', 'Dexter'. The plot keeps in ' tension' until the very end and in order for you to have a complete picture, I recommend reconsidering. Towards the end of the series, a huge number of questions for the series will accumulate: 'What?', ' How?' Yes ' Why?' to which the finale, unfortunately, will not answer.
Who should not watch the series?
Homophobes. In the series there is a scene of same-sex sex (it is necessary for the plot, unlike Game of Thrones.) and a homosexual couple. And people who don't like to think. For you there are 'Voronins', 'Fizruk' and 'University'.
The verdict. The show is awesome. It’s worth watching this weekend, but don’t expect the series to answer all your questions.
9 out of 10
Despite all the unrealism and contradictions in the descriptions of the IT-sphere in general and the main character of the social phobia hacker in particular, it was still better than what began at the end of the first season. Do you think a drug-addicted genius programmer is too much? Too implausible, "hardcore," was it somewhere? And what would you say if you add to social phobia and drug addiction also a mental disorder of personality?
To avoid spoiling too much, by the second half of the season, I began to feel like I was watching some unfortunate mix of “Fight Club” and “V for Vendetta” that takes place in our time and in our reality. The number of cinematic clichés is simply amazing - it seems that there is absolutely nothing original in the series, or at least not wiped to holes. Yes, the creators especially do not hide their frank plagiarism, as evidenced by at least the use of piano cover soundtrack from "Fight Club" - "Where is my mind".
A smart social phobic guy who hacks into his few acquaintances to bring at least some distorted semblance of social activity into his life evoked sympathy. There are many such people in real life. A mentally insane guy-drug addict who decided to “save” the world, and therefore successfully destroying it, coupled with a huge number of movie stamps, cause distrust and frankly annoy. It is a pity that the storyline unfolded in this way.
About this series, everyone says that this is the best series of the summer 2015 and the first series that realistically depicts IT specialists. I, as a modest technical support worker, can not help but add a spoonful of tar, because I am frankly disappointed after all the laudatory reviews, I did not confess even to the end and not because it is boring (there is such an opinion), but because unrealistic still.
For example, an employee of a cybersecurity company who goes for a promotion during a DDOS attack on a client’s server asks a colleague “what is a rootkit.” She's not even an intern, damn it, but a full-time employee. What is the point of describing in detail all these “must reconfigure DNS” if then someone from the script ask such nonsense.
The main character failed. The writers wanted to sculpt them from the classic tech-geek-sociophobe. They failed to write his lines in such a way that he was a complete closed character. He calmly enters into conflict with strangers, you know very well if he argues with them in an unsociophobic way. But then the writers remember that the guy is a social phobia and he stutters and hides his eyes in front of other characters. Now he's acting like a closed-minded geek, then he's sending everyone off like cool pepper. It's not realistic. The guys from the comedy TBV turned out to be much more harmonious than this tensely gloomy young man.
Plus, to add to the hero of asociality / genius, the scriptwriters used a classic technique - drug addiction (Doctor House, Sherlock, etc.). Coupled with a subtilized teenage appearance, the hero generally seems to be a typical drug addict, not some programmer. Computer geeks have a lot of internal demons, but drugs are too hardcore.
And in the end, the number of girls curling around him exceeds all the limits allowed for an IT geek. And he is friends with them, sleeps, communicates - this is for chickens to laugh. The real gods of IT are virgins. Either the guy communicates with girls, or a brilliant programmer, but not all together.
The story of a young programmer-social phobia Elliott, who decided to destroy the traditional consumer society for one with the entire world economy, was unexpected for me and from this only an even more pleasant surprise among tons of all kinds of cable slag.
Speaking in a very specific genre of “series about hackers”, “Mr. Robot” manages not to slide into a frank cranberry with stamps characteristic of films about computer scientists, and also stands out against its competitors on television. There are many reasons for this:
First, the filing form. After watching several episodes, the legendary Fight Club immediately comes to mind. When the audience catches these parallels and begins to wonder how fucked Elliot will be, only then comes the realization that not everything is so clear. Sam Esmail, who is responsible for the script, tries to lead the viewer away from such analogies, constantly loading us with new mysteries and cliffhangers. In the best traditions of some Lost, the viewer constantly has to think, guess and build his theories. And this is great immerses in history, creating its own unique atmosphere.
Secondly, “Mr. Robot” is distinguished by its recognizable style. The robot boasts a good picture in the spirit of the films of the same Fincher, excellent camera work and a memorable musical range. Having very modest capabilities, the authors managed to create a very high-quality product.
Third, of course, there is a feature with the “destruction of the fourth wall” – the main character now and then shares his innermost thoughts with us, constantly addressing the audience directly. In the context of a series about a traveling hacker exposing the vices of society, this thing looks wildly cool. Thanks to this, as well as the topicality of the topics raised, suddenly there is a strange feeling of belonging to what is happening - a reality from which it becomes uncomfortable.
In the end, I just want to say that Sam Esmail turned out perhaps the best original TV show of this summer and one of the best TV shows of 2015 in general. We're waiting for s_02.avi.
“Mr. Robot” is a hodgepodge from “V for Vendetta” and “Fight Club”, fueled by hacker and Masonic themes. Trying to create a grandiose dystopia under the cover of the series, the writers managed to make an open ending, polished under the actual problem, that is, exactly the one that “people need”. In this they are similar to a.k.a conglomerate Evil Corp.
The series has many interesting thoughts and messages (a pinch of inspiration vendetta) and unexpected plot twists (a pinch of inspiration from the fight club), which undoubtedly attracts. There is a certain charm of the series. Well, it is worth highlighting a rather interesting and very elaborate hacker theme with UNIX-systems, Raspberry Pie's and other vagabonds.
The main drawback of the series at this stage is the abundant number of secondary characters who do not carry a semantic load, or try to carry it, but shamefully merge.
The first group includes all members of FSociety except Mr. Robot and Darlene. Who are all the other people? Why are they needed, why are they constantly turning around the main character, but not really connected with him?
The second group includes Tyrell and his wife. Tyrell was supposed to be one of the key characters, but was successfully thrown into this “basket of failed characters”, as it often flashes on the screen, and as a result, it is unclear why he was added to the series in such numbers. And here's his wife's story. What is she trying to achieve every time, who is she, why does she speak a foreign language? No answer. Why did they add it? I have no idea.
Same thing with Sheila and Vera. At the beginning, Sheila is assigned a certain role, she has a connection with the main character, Elliot, then Feranando Vera, her supplier, is given a whole series on them. And then once they disappear from the series, all the characters almost immediately forget that they were and how they are connected with the plot ... a mystery.
In general, the series is not bad, but it can be better and it should be better. And if in subsequent seasons all the shortcomings described by me are revealed (if of course the series is extended), then it may deserve a higher rating. In the meantime, the series for the first season rating
When I heard back in May that the pilot of a new series with the funny title “Mr. Robot” had come out, after reading all these tons of positive reviews based on just one episode(!), I decided to postpone the series at least until half of the season came out, so that then, if I liked, I wouldn’t be in the throes of waiting. You did the right thing.
Mr. Robot is perhaps the most realistic spectacle of what hackers can do online. Webcam in your laptop? Rest assured, it can be hacked. Email with a three-character password, they say, will it work? No, it won't. Do you think that by removing the story from the browser, this information will not go anywhere else? Hell no.
The narrative is conducted on behalf of Elliot Alderson - the same hacker who suffers from social phobia and goes to a psychologist in order to somehow deal with it. He works for a cyber security company and is a quiet pool. But, as you know, in a quiet pool of devils there are, and our Elliot, as a rule, at night uses his hacking skills against all the people with whom he communicates. He is absolutely honest with himself, he denounces duplicity, deceit and a thirst for power and money.
Honestly, you get into the series. At least because the creators do not disdain to use in the series any well-known brands, famous politicians and successful entrepreneurs, and computers, as a rule, there is some “seven”. Well, the fact that as such there are no white and black characters at all, it is probably not necessary to say.
In 10 episodes, "Mr. Robot" tells ONLY how many shows can't do in a couple of seasons. Planned revolution, the story of Elliot, his girlfriend, friends and so on. But it’s still a personal story of an ordinary man suffering from loneliness and crying in the evening.
It’s a shame that the finale was completely open, just as openly hinting to us that all the answers will require a second season. In the meantime, we come up with our own theories of what happened and look for answers on our own. Well, Sam Esmail left hints. A lot of hints.
' Mr. Robot' was ready for a pluralism of opinions. Known, in narrow circles, Alexander Pavlov shattered the series, citing many flaws, of course, taking place. His opinion is authoritative and fair, but Pavlov took into account one detail, but did not allow it to be the cause - in summer and vinegar is sweet. The appearance in the gloomy serial season of the hot season foreshadowed only the Sabbath and the appearance of succubus. Is Marilyn Monroe so beautiful in today’s world? How many lush forms ended with the guillotine at the general beauty parades. It’s too late to embrace Monroe’s curves, but it’s still possible to catch Mr. Robot' in beauty. Like a voluptuous dream, he places the head of the viewer in the isolation of Gernsback, fascinating him with the aroma of splendor and madness, misanthropy and agony, drug addiction and love. Summer of the soul does not reap in the offspring, and to extinguish criticism only with the title symbols against the background of musical hits of the 80s will not work. Should I? After nightly discos, numerous DJ sets, bubbling in the stomach cocktails. Cutting with your movements, with a beautiful girl, hookah smoke, the next day you want only humility. And Mr. Robot is ready to give it.
The small weight of words, as in the expression ' until death do us part', gives Eliot that powerful charm that pleases the viewer like a child. Again the man looks at the madman and admires him. How long will the period of praise last? But talking to yourself makes you organize your thoughts and think faster. Eliot is not sick, he is healthier than others. But crying in the corner, sweating like a fat sumo wrestler in the subway, Eliot creates the illusion of pain, and the viewer perceives it as a personal defeat of the protagonist ' Mr. Robot' A faceless wounded wanderer sneaks through the corridors, dragging his mortal body, he shakes out of his head an alien reality that sawed him endlessly. Liberation from the shackles of social oppression, for Eliot, is like a way out into reality.
In an attempt to show the idea-fix ' Fight Club' the future, ' Mr. Robot' ignores some cinematic canons that can give charm and success to the project, hence such a huge number of clichés in the project. ' Fight Club' was a reality, ' Mr. Robot' but got into the matrix of the real world, therefore the so-speaking name ' Evil corporation' is located in the heart of the narrative, behaving, albehaving lazy, but rather effectively.'. I don’t know what’s real anymore, 39 says Eliot, reproducing a butterfly that dreams of being a man who dreams of being a butterfly.
For Eliot, the world is like a hateful morning for owls. When night and day are intertwined in a hot kiss, no one is happy with the fruit of their love. Morning is a fat aunt who, instead of whipped cream, overturns a bucket of mayonnaise on herself, then licks it. Morning steals time from the poor and gives it to the rich. The incessant time is pressing like a vise. The scarcity of time excites the spirit. Morning reflection long ago replaced his mom and dad and girlfriend with friends. The alarm clock reminds us of reality, and that 'good' there is no morning. It is all part of the collective unconscious. In fact - bad breath, strange wrinkles on the face and musty air in the head. Everything the morning could do was created by nature. Man is not able to compose beautiful, he thinks himself a genius, but his attempts are only an illusion. Morning is a hangover, driven by the sounds of everyday life of neighbors. A bag of garbage in one hand, in the second - you feel the desire to touch the flabby skin of the cleaner, on the stairwell. She's like a relic in that stench of perfumes just put on her body. Having risen from the dead before everyone else, her skin absorbs the morning rays of the sun, chlorine and sweat. In the early turmoil, Eliot feels like a fish lying on land. His gills need water, he just opens his mouth trying to say something. The words swallowed themselves, but he smiled. Having forgiven the sins of the whole mankind, he found solace in despair.
“Mr. Robot” is a series about a man of the future, when the need to carry a knuckle in a bag disappears, and the smartphone becomes the most effective tool.
Computers are all around us, they're everywhere, and they need to be managed. Some things they do on their own, according to predefined algorithms, and other aspects require close supervision. When it comes to money or personal life, there is a question of security, there are various methods of protection. And, of course, there will be those who try to bypass laws and regulations to access information for different purposes. And then there are people who are interested in exploring, in depth and in as much detail as possible, for whom it is an integral part of life. They're hackers. Finally, these groups of people overlap.
Films about cybercrime and information security are too few, and worthy of attention - on the finger to count. Person of Interest and Blackhat come to mind, but the first thousand inconsistencies, and the second – obvious problems with the plot and directing. There are also quite famous Hackers and Swordfish, but this is more a parody of IT than something worthwhile, and a bunch of films in which the notorious sphere is not central - they are generally a mess and often reaches Internet memes.
Viewing the pilot series was very intriguing, but being only an introductory one, it did not carry a logical basis - it was difficult to understand what we are talking about and how far it should go. The Freemasons Club was not very encouraging, and the second series only confused everything. But it is worth noting, abundantly sprinkling the viewer with near-computer terms, showing the true underside of the corporate world in the field of information security, resourcefully playing with slang and trade marks, behind a beautiful picture mysteriously crept incredible power intrigue reminiscent of that in the world-famous Fight Club. And careful presentation of new information along with incredible twists and turns. No, no, no, no, no. And all this in the well-transmitted atmosphere of mega-corporations - wars for vacancies, outsourcing, survival, greed, conscience.
Still, it's a movie about hackers. Almost honest. With interesting allusions, but at the same time it will certainly be interesting to watch the uninitiated - House MD was tolerated after all. And all these twists and turns, all this intrigue, these over-the-top nerves. Definitely the best psychological thriller in the series format. In which the doses are followed with surgical precision. Doses of time, doses of information, action, characters, and the banal background are so pleasant to the eye that it is suitable for photo wallpaper. Everything is done with love, everything is done professionally. And everything is interconnected. This series claims to be a masterpiece. Like Fight Club, Breaking Bad, Fargo. And it's also a must-see for anyone connected with IT, if only to see that there are people in the movies who understand us, who see it not as magic, but as a working machine.
I’ve heard about this series for a long time, but I’ve watched all the series that have been released recently. I can’t say for sure, but I’m definitely leaning towards the kind of positive review – guys, there’s a lot to do! The very description of this series is at least intriguing.
What I can say about the whole part - the pilot is just great! After that, I really want to see the continuation, as well as sit at the computer and immerse myself in the world of code, in order to later become the same ingenious hacker as Elliot. Then everything goes very strange, interesting, but strange. This is not how I imagined the actions that unfolded before my eyes, but I think that they are not bad, but rather the opposite. In one series, there is a complete drug addiction, with which some users in social networks, who are also closely watching Mr. Robot. I am not saying that these moments are useless, they still reinforce the thoughts of the main character, I am saying that I want to see the development of events as soon as possible, because the possibilities of this series (at the moment) are limited to only ten episodes. This is not for you, who can spend almost the entire series on catching a fly, with its duration (and, of course, with genius).
Anyway, I'm just sure that the further you look at Mr. Robot, the more interesting and intriguing it becomes. The narration of the series is conducted from the main character to the fictional character he himself invented (it turns out that you take the role of this listener). Smart thoughts, raising important problems, from social to criminal, beautiful, bright and unpredictable characters, as well as the hopeless and depressive state of the protagonist, in his opinion, not capable of socialization (and even dabbling in morphine) - all this in combination gives an occasion to think about their problems, immerse themselves in them, rethink.
Who is Mr. Robot? It is not yet known what he is, but I am sure it will be very interesting to see him reveal all his cards.
Of course, all the actors play great, otherwise it would be unlikely that this series had such a high rating and all positive reviews. I really liked a few images: Darlin, Angela and of course the very Elliot, they have those sharp angles that are cardinally interesting, in view of their unusualness.
As for shooting and music, everything is just perfect, the highest praise!
In general, quite unusual and interesting, there are sometimes strange moments in which you do not see the meaning, but perhaps not everyone is able to realize it.
In any case, it is recommended to watch . I even insist.
So what do we have? Treated by critics and most of the audience, with a huge PR in the form of a deliberately green light for the second season, another series about computer geeks. This time everything is serious - our hero Hacker with a capital letter H. During the day he is an office clerk, diligently typing on the keyboard 1 and 0, at night - horror for pedophiles and dishonest husbands. He has a girlfriend, of course, unrequited love, with whom they grew up together and work together. She has no brains, which does not prevent her from working in a small office that provides security for one of the largest corporations in the world. Of course, the girlfriend has a terrible boyfriend without him. In addition, there is:
Horrible Chinese hackers - 1 pc
Evil Corporation - 1 pc
Anarchist girl - 2 pc
Doggy - 1 pc
Gay - 2 pc
Drama - 9000pc
What do we got? It is clear that the series was advised by people who are not as far from the field of security as usual, which does not prevent the series from making mistakes in the form of changing the OS on the phone in different frames, working not through LiveCD for hacking, wearing completely unsuspecting black backpack-black hoodie-black hood-black jeans, well, and hacking security systems literally on the fly, as well as completely ignoring the cameras. Also, the drama mentioned above, it's everywhere. Here and unhappy love, and the tragedy of childhood, and the problem of fathers and children, and shock content, and everything, everything, including the unfortunate dog who is not allowed to go about his business.
But there is a great and terrible corporation that sucks the juice out of unsuspecting people who accidentally borrowed money from it. And if so, it must be urgently hacked and punished for this, because there is nothing to work here according to the rules of economics.
Conclusion? The series had every chance to be great. Tolerable shots with hacking, an interesting way of narrating, a tolerant plot. But stop making soap dramas. Make a living.
In the 90s and early zeros, the subject of hacking was so popular that it spawned an entire generation that saw it as its future. Alas, but that ' Password Fish-Sword' that 'Hackers' that even cult' The Matrix' were rather thrillers where hacking was some completely mythical and metaphysical process, in reality had nothing in common. But times go by and the world waited ' the right' the embodiment of hacker culture on screens. And it appeared in the form of a TV series 'Mr. Robot'.
The strongest side of this TV show is almost one hundred percent caste hit the point. Each actor is in his place and plays his character just perfectly, whether it is constantly immersed in himself the main character Elliot played by Rami Malek or eccentric Mr. Robot and played him Christian Slater, who clearly can revive his acting career thanks to this role. Heroes are the central axis of the plot, and at the head of the corner of course is the protagonist. However, their images are quite far from real and they all mostly resemble comic book characters. A kind of postmodern series about hackers. This, by the way, he is very similar to Dexter, sometimes even openly quoting him, but in any case not engaged in plagiarism. In ' Mr. Robot' there is a long-forgotten atmosphere of mild depression and gray life with a brewing hatred of the consumer society, more familiar to us from the culture of the late 90s - early 2000s. This is expressed in dialogues, in the visual range of colors, and in the main character, who often likes to share his thoughts with the viewer, thus destroying the fourth wall and making you think about a particular issue.
The tirade of laudatory words to the brainchild of Sam Esmail can also be extended by praising the director, we are gifted with really fresh views on familiar things, and sometimes creativity is enough for a dozen such series. Nevertheless, 'Mr. Robot' should be reproached for slowness. In the plot, despite the complexity and good intrigue, there are not enough dynamics, the characters develop with enviable laziness, there are good, but still filler series, and the finale seems so remote and difficult to reach that sometimes you forget about it at all. In principle, this policy of the creators is clear - you need to bring a couple of trump cards for the second season. But also in addition ' Mr. Robot' could be really a pamphlet against the modern consumer society, a new word in this matter and a kind of continuation of the ideas of the cult ' Fight Club' Palahniuk (but already with hackers in the lead roles), if not for some fear of the authors to go beyond the limits. Sometimes you want to see from this TV show a real explosion and spit in the face of the modern world, but this does not happen, the creators tease the viewer with one or another seed in the form of a good thought of the main character or a tough plot twist, but at a certain point they stop, afraid to cross the line. It is a shame, because the theme of the series disposes, like no other.
In general, ' Mr. Robot' not perfect. It lacks the scope and depth to become a new television masterpiece and take its place on TV Olympus alongside the Games of Thrones and True Detectives. Nevertheless, he will definitely find his army of fans, and after a while he will probably create a cult around him, who knows, this has already happened on television. In the meantime, this is the best series of the summer with great characters, fresh themes and a good twisted plot in absentia.
There are not many TV series directly related to hacking – in the sense, real hacking, and not with hacking various “pentagons” by personalities who in the frame do not even press the keyboard buttons, but in a couple of seconds get access to top-secret archives.
Although the series “Mr. Robot” hardly a step away from this concept, watching it is still very interesting. It touches on issues that many people do not take seriously – surveillance, espionage, data collection and surveillance with the latest computer gadgets. And how it works, shows us the main character.
He is a hacker, a loner, a social phobia, who can’t connect two words in public, always sullen and avoids companies. But as a fish in the water feels at the computer - he easily exposes, observes and sees through the people around him due to their accounts in social networks and ' protected' smartphones.
Rami Malek seems to me to be perfectly suited for his role – his perplexed views, hiccups, open mouth make him an ideal personality with social deviations. But in other aspects, he also shows high skill of acting - his character looks really dramatic.
Other actors also keep the bar - each character is clearly spelled out, and his acting takes place in the same spirit - from the bitch - programmer to the boss - boss.
From the pilot series and towards the end of the season, the plot twists famously, and with each series it becomes more interesting to watch what is happening. And although sometimes you can not believe that literally at the click of your fingers you can pull major technical frauds, yet to watch the action is entertaining – good, the plot is not linear, and some moments are encountered for the first time.
Summing up, we can say that Mr. Robot is a very good series that raises important topics for the modern world. There are only ten episodes in the season, and they also come out in the summer. So I suggest you take the time to evaluate this series about human relationships and cybersecurity.
The appearance on the screens of the film (series) with the hero-hacker was a matter of time. In the information age, this image naturally excites young idealistic minds. Conspiracy theories, fear of society (growing into hatred), rejection of the values of society and the letter of the law, the desire to change the world, the hope that some secret society will find you and you will become part of something big and revolutionary, psychological problems, an incessant internal monologue - all this is familiar to young (and not very young) nerds firsthand.
To what extent did the filmmakers capture this controversial image? Big question.
The series begins with the fact that the main character hacks and sets the police on the distributor of child pornography. In my opinion, this is the first mistake. Neurds do not have problems with pornography (even with children), this is generally their only connection with the world of sex, most just have different-caliber sexual deviations. More. The main character helps his psychologist to get rid of a married man who cheats on his wife and removes prostitutes. Why would I? Such a way of life is more likely to cause hidden envy in a sociopath deprived of female attention. Maybe, of course, out of envy he did it, but no, the authors clearly hint that our hero is a champion of family values. That is, for the second time, social morality is projected onto the inner world of the main character, who, I remind you, despises society. The inconsistency. Then the scene with the drag dealer girl. That is, a person who shuns any touch turns out to be capable of casual sex (albeit under drugs) and moreover, perceives it as an annoying incident (as if it constantly happens to him). And, of course, in the bed scene we see a toned body with cubes (with cubes, Karl!) press. This is a man who clearly does not play sports, spends all the time sitting on pants at the comp and dabbling in morphine. By the way, the topic of morphine seems somewhat dubious to me, too. A true sociopath hacker is not tormented by his madness, but enjoys it, and therefore he will rather use something psychedelic, to expand consciousness and ' search for truth'.
In general, we have a digital Zorro-defender of the humiliated and offended (by a strange coincidence, these are only women, despite the fact that Kulkhazkers are sexist creatures through and through) from which the authors try to make the antihero look like Sherlock or House, but with the help of some very harmless (for others) addictions such as drug addiction.
The rest of the show didn’t do much either. The image of the hero Slater somehow does not stick. Well, he doesn't look like a fanatical terrorist hacker for all the good, against all the bad. A blonde girlfriend with a guy who, of course, is a bit of a scumbag (because he cheats, the authors did not come up with anything more interesting again) also somehow does not inspire - no nerd will ever fall for such a thing (the only excuse is that the characters have known since childhood). The overflowing head villain similar to Killian Murphy looks against the background of this zoo the most interesting and controversial character.
In general, we have a good and timely idea with the birth trauma of cowardice of the authors who were afraid to create a truly controversial protagonist. However, you will have to watch, because nothing better on this topic has not yet been removed.
