For a long time I did not dare to write anything about this series. It is quite difficult to talk about him. But not because of the complexity of the series, but because of its specificity. How to convey in a few phrases the meaning of what should be followed closely and throughout many episodes?
So, before us in the series there is a large family (one way or another, bound by blood ties, albeit sometimes very remote) Farrells living in seclusion on the mountain for many generations. Their life structure is very similar in essence to an anthill commune, where there is a queen queen queen, there are some close to her and there are all the others. So here is the head of the family, called by them the title "Brenn" - the Leader, to whom (to whom) all must obey unquestioningly. There is also a council of elders, however, as practice later shows, their power is not so weighty. Their main concern is to maintain the inviolability of ancient family traditions. By the way, these very traditions and everything that is happening related to their observance-violation-thoughts about their expediency in the changed modern conditions - all this is just the main plot core on which the narrative is based.
The characters are quite interesting and original. Here we see the wise elderly Mother (Bren) of the family, and her cunning and power-hungry son, who dreams of taking her place, and his grown, powerful son, often mentally rushing between honoring traditions and loving his father who violates these traditions. Also very interesting (in fact - central) is the character of the "rogue" family, once left relatives (for which he was considered a traitor), but again joined them recently, but still little appreciated and respected. Despite the fact that this character, with his great life experience and sharp mind, to a large extent helps all the Farrells to defend themselves from external threats. In the form of the same external threat to the lives of all the Farrells combined, a certain giant corporation appears, eager to shove the whole mountain to the devil, on which a large family lives. The reason for this is the deposits of valuable minerals. So again, money rules the world, and in this case, big money. The result is an increasingly brewing conflict between the thirsty Farrells on the one hand, and the big corporation (bablo + jobs) and the unemployed population of a small town on the other.
The plot develops in places slowly, in places - slightly accelerating. At the same time, although the screen does not appear something like this, turning the soul inside out, although the actors do not play what is called “to rupture the aorta”, it is still interesting to watch the plot and the characters that are increasingly revealing. It is quite worthy of viewing the series for lovers of leisurely drama and vicissitudes of intrafamily relationships of people a little “not of this world”.
