The second Star Wars spin-off film, but I will tell you right away, it is different, the beginning is medium, the middle seems to be good, but because of Phoebe Waller-Bridge and her heroine, let’s say, L3, even in the Russian dubbing it was just disgusting to listen, constantly that neither the phrase is saturated with a subpoena, cut to the heart like a knife. In Rogue One, there was also a robot that didn't lead and talk like a robot, but at least it wasn't annoying, so when we left L3, there was no drama, there was only joy, I might not have put up with it to the end. With the exception of this fact and this character, it was pleasant to watch in places, watching the rise of the Rebellion hero. The meeting with Chewbacca, of course, strained, I would somehow improve this moment. I also see Woody Harrelson, and I immediately think, "Heist?" Yeah, it's a really good scene with the robbery. And yes, in the beginning they showed Solo’s girlfriend, Emilia Clarke, after Game of Thrones it’s hard to associate her with the dragon queen, but I didn’t even recognize her at first. Find out how the friendship of Lando and Solo was born, very specific, but damn interesting, and at the end showed the very moment with a loss in the cards of the Falcon of the Millennium, great! Scenes in space, especially in the nebula, are fascinating! As a result, if you discard the subpoena, you get a good, great film about Han Solo.
When people tell you about Star Wars, your associations are probably lightsabers, Force, family affairs, and love. The film about the world’s most famous space smuggler, Han Solo, is completely different. With the desire to repeat the success of Rogue One, the film descends even lower from heaven to earth, retreating into the realism and inhospitableness of the world, but a big mistake was made. In order for the film not to seem too gloomy and not to scare away children, a comedy film with a characteristic abundance of laughing, hihanek da hahanek was made from Han Solo. Because of this, the plot of the film is neither fish nor meat. Comedy is too mediocre, and drama is almost not perceived because of this very comedy. And the object of the main conflict is quite boring - some expensive fuel for spacecraft.
It is interesting to watch mainly because of the acting. Many characters came out colorful, thanks to good acting. The cast of actors was successful, and famous stars like Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson are not here for a tick and their characters came out cool and a little interesting. The disclosure of the main character was successful, I would not say that it was interesting to follow this, Han Solo is not my favorite character, but it was not boring and quite competently approached the development and disclosure of the personality.
The atmosphere in the film is good, but not for this movie. The picture is gloomy, and the plot does not correspond to this picture. The picture, as in the film "The Enemy", the classic "Soar" music and jokes just above the plinth organically combined failed. But it looks beautiful, yes!
The main problem that affected the film’s ratings is that it does not fit into any genre framework. Especially noticeable is how different Han Solo is from all the other Star Wars films. The film is clearly not about what lightsaber fans wanted to see. But remember that your expectations are your problems, not the problems of the movie. I rather liked it, but it would have been much better without the boring comedy and inappropriate references to 'Detroit: Become Human'.

A strange film about the history of Han Solo. On the one hand, the film is important for the history of the fictional Star Wars universe: here we see crime bosses and even Darth Maul, who came to life in the animated series The Clone Wars. The spaceship-palace of Vos is simply beautiful, I cannot help but note. Here, too, we see the birth of the Insurrection, which begins with active and armed groups of discontented, far from being a centralized phenomenon. And this fact once again causes surprise: how, after all, according to the founders of this cinematic universe, such a stunted and loose phenomenon of nature could more or less successfully fight the Empire of Palpatine and Darth Vader?
On the other hand, there’s no Han Solo in the film – this young man is anyone but Han Solo! It seems that the Marvel Avengers created an amateur theater and staged an amateur play based on Star Wars. And the role of Khan was begged by Captain America, struggling to be a bit of a scoundrel, a bit of a knight, but also a little bit of a Cap America.
Third side. If you watch this film not as a story about Han Solo, but as a film about another sloppy from the Star Wars universe, then in general such a film is normal, albeit with too fantasy space squid or octopuses, with completely stupid and worthless episodes about “sleeping on Wooki’s lap” and a scene in the shower, with ridiculously stupid space pirates, who, in my opinion, look even more ridiculous than the Rat and the Jolly Wo in “Guest of the future”. But “The Guest” was filmed in 1984 and in the USSR, but these stupid idiots – in 2018 and not even in Russia.
That is, summing up, if you abstract from the title and name of the main character, the film can be watched and even revised. We will have to ignore the name of the mapmaker and the name of the spacecraft. But that’s easy, in principle, because there’s no real Lando Calrissian, just as there’s no real Han Solo. Moreover, the film is important for the entire expanded Star Wars universe, as it unambiguously shows the Empire is cannibal, lawless and intrinsically vicious. Yes, we have to show this strainedly and unnaturally, and, moreover, ignore the logic of the most invented universe. Because in classical hexalogy, the Republic looks so unsightly that it looks against the background of the Empire, to put it mildly, losing.
Personally, I was not surprised by this ridiculous babo-robot, but pleased Daenerys and Paul Bettany. But what all these space scoundrels – from the shrimp at the beginning to Darth Maul at the end – are blatantly stupid, it’s just some pink dream of a precinct from a dreary village.
It’s a shame that the film failed so badly at the box office. Absolutely undeserved. It is clear that Solo is not perfect, but it is much more adequate, logical and interesting movie than the whole trilogy of sequels combined. In general, this picture is a vivid confirmation that you should not judge films by fees. The story here is not the largest by Star Wars standards, but it is addictive, there are a couple of unexpected turns. Everything is dynamic, colorful, albeit without Jedi-Sith themes. A huge plus for the fact that the characters here it is possible to worry, because the scriptwriters did not abuse the plot armor and arrange a nursery from the film.
From the actors can be distinguished primarily by Ehrenreik and Paul Bettany. Ehrenreik quite well showed the character exactly as Harrison Ford showed him at the time. And it was not easy to do, because Han Solo is a very versatile person, he is not a typical good guy. Of course, he is, on the whole, a good person, but at the same time not without self-interest, selfishness and cunning. And this character is much more difficult to play than a typical hero or villain. Alden Ehrenreik did very well, surprisingly. Well, Paul Bettany perfectly played a charismatic villain who makes, oddly enough, a pleasant impression, but at the same time is in a certain sense a psychopath, and you do not know what to expect from him even in a minute. The rest of the cast, though also good, but some special vivid impression their characters did not make.
If you evaluate the mood of the film, it is quite a good and fascinating western in the world of SV, which is absolutely not boring to watch. And, by the way, despite the fact that the film is actually a Western, it does not break the canons of the franchise. Here you can separately praise the creators who harmoniously combined what it seemed very difficult to combine. In addition, a separate plus can be distinguished by the fact that the film was not stuffed with a bunch of inappropriate humor and children's elements, which affected episodes 1 and 6 (about the sequels are silent, there in this regard generally some sort of bacchanalia occurred).
The soundtrack somehow didn't catch on, to be honest. Not bad, no more. You won’t hear melodies in the movie. Although, this is not the problem of Solo, but of all the franchise products that have been released since 2015.

This undeservedly ignored film is the best in all new history. It has a logic of events, good acting. Except for two moments - Lord Maul's cameo and a pompous "for all the good" speech that's like that owl. Everything else is logical and meaningful.
I remember going to this movie proudly alone, and there was nobody in the room but me. Compared to the main new trilogy, where the excitement in the cinema halls was huge, although the story itself turned out to be mediocre, on separate spin-offs about the squad of “Rogue One” and the young Han Sol, the public was noticeably smaller. Although the paradox - individual stories are obtained from modern Disney much better and more thoughtful, let's take as a reference example the series "Mandalorian".
In the story about Han Solo, there is everything I was waiting for: this is the story of Khan’s acquaintance with Chewbacca, and a space western, and a young Lando performed by Donald Glover, and a minimum of Jedi, who at that time already bored me, and conversations about them also do not rise. Everything revolves around smuggling, some gang fights and deluges, but, of course, there is a love story, although not so stormy, but reminiscent of the love story between the later Khan and Princess Leia. Here’s what, and the special effects and visual component in “Star Wars” was always at the top and they were approached especially reverently, so the movie looks modern today.
I still cannot give a specific analysis of the failure of this picture at the box office and average ratings from critics, including the audience, because everything seems to be in its place, Alden Ehrenreik was able to copy all the habits of the space smuggler, adding a piece of his charm, Chewbacca - so it is a separate love. The story itself, in turn, also does not have particularly noticeable gaps and gaps, it complements the image of the main character, which we saw in the prequels, revealing it a little from a different angle. I still consider this spin-off to be successful and qualitative, and it is unlikely that this opinion can be persuaded by any arguments and arguments.
Han Solo lacks stars from the sky, even against its neighbor, another spin-off, Rogue One. This is an extremely simple and rather banal adventure film with a full set of clichés typical of films of this genre. However, despite its simplicity, it can amuse the viewer with a beautiful visual, good acting work and a rather cheerful action. Briefly painted - now a little more detail.
The main character, Han Solo, is a young adventurer who wants to break out of the dirty everyday life on the imperial fronts and achieve his dreams, becoming the coolest pilot in the Galaxy. And it should be noted that Alden Ehrenreik copes well with his role. Yes, he doesn’t look like Harrison Ford, but he clearly understands his character and plays him well. It is a pity that the writers lack the time and skill to give Khan an interesting storyline. Despite all the exciting adventures that Solo will pass, he will not fundamentally change, and only find his old friend, Wooki Chewbacca. Throughout the film, he does what you expect him to do, and he never questions his ideals.
As for the relationship with Wooki, everything is also ambiguous. Yes, the two characters have a rather pleasant relationship, but they develop too quickly. In the first scene, they are only comrades in misfortune, and in the second they are brothers. And this, by the way, is one of the main problems of the film - it is rushing at full speed in terms of the plot, not allowing the characters to properly open up and establish strong and logical ties with each other.
Two other examples are Ki'ra, played by Emilia Clarke, and Captain Beckett, played by Woody Harrelson. The first appears to us as a love interest of the hero, and the second as a mentor. However, since the film wants to show more action and action, we will not get a well-developed relationship between them and Khan: it would seem that the characters have not seen each other for several years, but the dynamics in their relationship remain the same, as if nothing happened. Or the writers are trying to show Beckett as a mentor, but they don’t show any normal scenes where he teaches Khan anything, they don’t show their relationship as anything more than “we have a common cause, so we’ll work together for now.” Because of this, the turn at the end does not feel as shocking and sad as the creators wanted, because there is no interesting dynamics between the characters. Although it should be noted - the actors successfully fall into the images and play quite well.
Perhaps the best interaction with the main characters gets a card player and smuggler, played by Donald Glover, who is perhaps the brightest star of the film. Their mutual taunts and jokes work, they have at least some dynamics, and in the end, their relationship to each other stems from the events of the film, and not remain behind the scenes or simply not revealed.
And yes, Lando has a revolutionary droid, L3, who is perhaps the funniest character in the film. Her revolutionary cries make me laugh in my voice! And although she is a couple of minutes in the film, she is remembered much better than the absolutely faded main villain in the face of another criminal authority.
The film also suffers from unnecessary scenes and characters who score timekeeping. For example, in the beginning there is a scene of a robbery, in which we are presented with a couple of characters ... who, however, will be killed in a few minutes. Why was this scene necessary when it could easily be remade without wasting too much time? Or, here, bandits on speeders - they are not necessary in this film, and their role could easily be transferred to the already existing characters. In some places, the film could be cut.
However, the film is still fun to watch. If you turn off your brain and don't think about certain things, you get two hours of pretty cheerful action. At times, the film can be exciting, especially during a space chase. It’s colorful, fun, and doesn’t show off like the Last Jedi. This is just an attraction, which, however, nothing special can not stand out from other similar attractions.
As a result, we get a one-time film that can bring the viewer fun and enthusiasm, but had a chance to reveal his characters much better if he did not waste time on unnecessary elements.

The next Disney film in the Star Wars universe tells the story of the beginning of the smuggling path of one of the most charismatic heroes of the great saga. The plot is full of adventures of the elusive hero and is rich in interesting supporting characters, which largely form the character of Han Solo on the eve of the classic confrontation of the forces of Light and Darkness.
And indeed, the picture has a number of really good actors who have highly professionally coped with the tasks. Paul Bettany, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson have demonstrated their creative talents. And of course, the main achievement of the tape is the artist who played the main role. Alden Ehrenreik not only has an unpronounceable surname, but also the most similar charisma to the legendary Harrison Ford, which is why you perceive his acting work as extremely digestible. He was able to embody the cult image perfectly identical.
Once upon a time, fans disliked the golden C-3PO. Once literally hated the talker Jar-Ja Binks and did not accept the young Jake Lloyd, and after Hayden Christensen, embodied on the screen Anakin Skywalker in different stages of his formation. Over time, denial changed to full acceptance (especially against the background of the characters of the new trilogy). The tape in question has perhaps the most annoying character in the history of the intergalactic series. This is the 'feminist' droid L3-37. This character is so crazy with his abnormality that negative emotions are the only way out for viewers. Why was it necessary to introduce a terrifyingly relevant to the modern agenda of the character in the picture, which, in addition to the stupid motivation of their actions, does not attract the audience's interest "one iota"? Ja-Ja, we love you! Forgive us for everything!
As a result, Han Solo is a solid spin-off of Star Wars, missing stars from the sky. It uses an externally vivid plot, which in fact does not provide an opportunity to truly be interested in the story of the famous hero of the legendary franchise. Dynamics and action are wonderful. However, secondary and unoriginal weakens the significance of the events of the film, the results of which caused the departure of major projects of the Star Wars universe from large screens to small ones. And as it turned out later, it was the right move! The Mandalorian won't let you lie.
Han is my favorite Star Wars character and I had high expectations for this movie. Unfortunately, his PR campaign, I do not remember for what reasons, was so faded that except for the most ardent fans, hardly anyone knew that this film was coming out.
The plot itself is surprisingly good and in it, even for 2018, the agenda is so subtly and amusingly woven that it does not piss you off. It's just there, but it's logical.
And of course, the big question is how did Alden Ehrenreik cope with the great role of Harrison Ford? In my opinion, very good. In addition to the external similarity, which does not depend on him, the actor put the same facial expressions, movements and character into the role. I even tried to convey the manner of speech, but it is difficult for me to fully appreciate it because English is not native.
Real upset, probably, only not the ZV-sh dynamics of the film and the lack of development of Kira as a character. For change, Woody Harrelson isn't here. You expect something cool from him, you get nothing but a sidekick. Although his role in the story should be quite significant.
General impression:
As a fan, I was terrific and the film was revisited more than once. I really want to believe that the sequel will be, because the time until the 4th episode is still a lot. . .
Why is that? Yes, simply because throwing the old canon of the SV into the urn, we were not offered anything worthy in return.
But all the troubles in order. Letters, so to speak.
B - Banal illogicality.
1. How, what kind of Makar Khan from 'just a talented boy' became a really first-class, burst his coronary flash, pilot? Flight Academy undergraduate + pilot from G-d . . . . from the Force itself? It's not even funny. Moreover, here the Force did not even run past, it cannot be written off. But in the old canon, Khan is a Navy officer with experience. It makes sense.
2. How did they get so close to Chewbacca [2]? On what basis? Can you explain to me? But in the old canon, the story of liberation from slavery - even at the cost of a career - quite logically links with the image of Khan in the classic trilogy. And with Chui's further attitude towards him, too.
3. Survivor

? WHAT? Don't make my blaster laugh (and yes, I know this citizen was resurrected & #39; even earlier).
4. An image of Khan's home planet? Nonsense. One of the most developed worlds of DDG, thriving K'rell{Corelia, yes; however, real fans of SW themselves understood my reference; ) }, with its multibillion-dollar profits from shipbuilding, to show exclusively as an underworld slum is absurd. Even if you try to attract by the ears of social and property stratification a couple of orders of magnitude higher than in our world.
There are still a lot of inconsistencies (regarding the same Shirivouk, for example), but let’s move on to the following points.
K - cards.
1. Cardboard ' type antagonist' Dryden Vos. You hooked? I'm not. Totally indistinct character. Here compared in one of the reviews with the careerist Krennick from 'Rogue-one'. Well, I'll admit it to the full: there's a bastard. Quite understandable and plot appropriate. And here is not a ve-ru.
2. Beckett. Similar story. I don't. A little less than in the previous case, but still do not believe.
3. The apotheosis of the apophigeus is a central female character ... who does not play any significant role in it, has no clear motivation for his actions, as well as a clear development over the course of the plot. And in addition, he's played badly. Throughout the film, he does nothing but slap his eyelashes nicely (with an absolutely porcelain look). In this case, both the character and did not take off. The incompetence on the part of the actress is no less than on the part of the screenwriter. Is this supposed to replace Bria Taren? Shame.
X is a story.
What was this movie about? What does it teach us about a deeper understanding of Han Solo? How are the individual scenes finally connected? If you compare the skittishness of the writers of this film with how the story of Khan is written in the RV SV, the sense of smell (primarily all other senses) will helpfully tell us that they are trying to rub some game that smells like banta dung.
---
All of the above are mentioned only:
(a) good special effects;
b) a couple of decently staged scenes (attempting to play the name Solo in a different way, robbing koro ... fu, trains, well, and the notorious flight along the Kessel arc);
c) surprisingly useful acting Glover and Ehrenreik - the guys, at least, try (for example, facial expressions ' Ford' Khan as a whole succeeded and Ehrenreik), although the fault of the writers to play here and not much;
d) droid-feminist - I sincerely hope ... well, I sincerely want to hope that this character was stalking according to the original idea, and not turned out on the principle ' Yes this is by chance '.
---
In sum, it is worth saying that most of the new products in the franchise turned out to be low-quality. I do not take into account the cartoon (I did not watch - I do not condemn), but from ' cinema' I can only call worthy ' Rogue-one' and very worthy - only ' Mandalorian'... well, at least its first season - let's see what happens next.
At the same time, the so-called ' trilogy of sequels' hopelessly loses the same book ' trilogy of Thrawn' Timothy Zana. This is ' Hana Solo' a similar fate, unfortunately, did not pass.
Thank you very much.
If you imagine 'Star Wars' a living organism, the story of Han Solo plays the role of the navel. That is, the film is, but in itself does not carry any functionality. He tries to tell us the story of a cult character, but what he sees raises the question 'What?'. And the solution is simple - even at the production stage, the picture stalled - a long search for the actor for the main role, a change of director, reshooting most of the material - the result was, unfortunately, a rather stuffy picture.
Yes, sticks in the wheels from the studio and problems on the set - it's bad, but it was not an excuse for the end result. 'Alien 3', 'Justice League', '' - all these pictures were problematic and in the end scattered to dust. I don't think 'Han Solo' is a special case. The story stalls and leaves behind a taste of ash in its mouth. And in the center of the plot thrown a young version of the hero of the space saga, but at the same time his steepness as if took off the scene. You know, I'm not going to scold Olden Ehrenreik. To me, he did everything he could to get one step closer to Harrison Ford. The trouble here in the script, which again, during the reworking of the film probably lost a lot of buns.
If we have a story about a famous smuggler, let's make a story about a robbery. The coolness of Han Solo is served by handfuls, so it turns out that he is lost against the rest of the characters. Smuggler Tobias Beckett is remembered for the charisma of Woody Harrelson. The love interest of Khan - Keira (Emilia Clark) is also remembered, but not only by the pretty face of the actress - just her character is not as faded as it could turn out. The young Lando Calrissian performed by Donnie Glover turned out to be canonical in nature, and here I have no complaints. And there is another type of villain - the head of the crime syndicate Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany), but he did not cause any response at all. Even Admiral Krennik from ' Rogue-one' in the light will do this Vision-Face-in-Scars.
The main problem with Han Solo is that you can’t create tension. We know the smuggler is going to get out of a deadly situation because he has three more movies to go. Even past feats and deeds of the past days to beat at the proper level failed. Let’s start with the scene where Khan goes volunteers in the army of the Empire, and since he has no one, the imperial official enters in the column ' Surname ': Solo. To say I'm crazy is to say nothing. Next... the scene of meeting Chewbacca. The colonel was General Kashyik, participated in the Clone Wars, and after all those events he became a tool for execution by the Imperials. And the acquaintance of two bosom friends happens as follows: you were kept here - run with me. Even the vaunted cut of Kersel's arc to 12 parsecs is served dry. The film persistently puts Khan as a super-duper pilot, not particularly supporting the arguments with facts.
Perhaps history would have worked if it had been woven into a different entourage and made with a different approach, but alas, we have. In general, this review is kind of pale. But this movie as a whole. Especially I was wild ' pleased ' the fact that one of the most expensive paintings in history was shot in the dark. What, reshoots are in full swing, and the spotlight at home is forgotten?
' Han Solo' went through real production hell. Everything was so bad that the main actor, Alden Ehrenreik, even had to take acting lessons right on the set. And in principle, personally, I did not expect anything from the solo of the most charismatic smuggler in a distant galaxy. I didn’t expect anything and didn’t get anything.
The main problem ' Hana Solo' - the film turned out very long and boring. It is simply not interesting to watch, and there are several reasons for this - a sagging narrative in the dynamics, uninteresting characters, not particularly interesting for the most part action.
In fact, we are really shown the history of the formation of the famous smuggler, his acquaintance with Lando, the first flight on ' Millennium Falcon' but the fact is that the local adventures of Solo is not interesting to follow. Solo is partly to blame for this - the young actor does not have half the charm and charisma of Harrison Ford. Alden Ehrenreik is a huge misast. You don’t feel any energy in the guy, the spark of an adventurer.
With the characters, as I said, the movie is not very good. I've already walked through the boring and uncharismatic Han Solo, and things are no better with the others. The heroine of Emilia Clark - Keira - it is not clear why you need in the plot, again it is not very well spelled out, and of particular interest. With all the other heroes, good or bad, it's all bad. These are flat, boring cardboards that you just don't give a damn about. The only bright spot in the entire caste is Woody Harrelson. His character is just as badly spelled out, but damn it, it's Woody Harrelson! With his charisma, he pulls out every scene with his participation. Although no, lie, it is worth noting also Donald Glover, who coped with the role of Lando Calrissian on 'ura'.
As for the action - he is here, but nothing special. I can only mention two points, the first is a small episode in the war, where Khan had to visit during the service of the Empire (and it is a pity that it is very small), and the second is a long action scene on the monorail, which I think was in all the trailers. And in principle deserved - it was removed and put perfectly.
What I can note from a purely positive side is the visual. ' Han Solo' very authentic in relation to the universe 'Star Wars' but unfortunately, the film still does not save.
' Hana Solo' I can't call it a bad movie, but it's also a good one. This is an ordinary passerby, who leaves only on the loud name of the cult character, but at the same time the character in the film is essentially not. Because that curly kid is anything but Han Solo. Name the film 'Vasya Pupkin. Stories & #39 and nothing will change. This soloist is not worthy of his name.
Han Solo is a character no doubt shrouded in mystery. Incarnated by Harrison Ford in the original trilogy, he did not raise any questions. All we had to know was that he was a charming scoundrel and someone who risked more than a lifestyle. So a film about Solo is a very useful thing.
And he appeared as the second spin-off in the saga. And if ' Rogue One' was a beautiful military drama not without follies, then ' Han Solo' is a very simple adventure filled with references and references more than a field of mines in 'Sapper'.
But Disney won’t catch me for being nostalgic, I’ve watched thirty years of history in a couple of weeks, so I remember it perfectly.
Anyway, ' Han Solo' scripted as an adventure picture works perfectly. This is a long journey for a valuable artifact for an evil crime boss, and chases with pirates, and charming scoundrels wherever you point.
The most charming, in my opinion, was Lando Calrissian performed by Donald Glover. You can say that he eclipses his small role Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson, not to mention the main star of the picture, Alden Eyrenreik, although he tries to copy the game of Ford.
'Han Solo. Star Wars. Stories' is a good space western and, like any spin-off, something interesting, but not necessarily.
This may sound strange to some, but I am a Star Wars fan who has long known the realities of that world. Criminals, the mafia, are a great evil to me, and Han Solo was one of the few people who could be truly sympathetic, admired. Brave, noble, and sardonic, as he was in the Original Trilogy, partly in the cancelled Expanded Universe, and alas, not in the seventh episode of Star Wars. This film didn’t fix what the sequels did to Khan, but instead it gave us another wonderful, cynical, and therefore no less romantic version of Robin Hood becoming a local bottling man! And yet, the end made me a little confused. But everything in order.
The empire cooperates with the mafia. No matter how much you scold this film for demonstrating this fact, it is a fact. So in the films of the Original Trilogy, destroying the entire planet Alderaan, the Empire not only did not do something similar to Jabba, but delivered him on a platter Khan. But if in the Original Trilogy, this theme of the underworld is not positioned as the main one, then in this film it cuts into the eyes, which brought me to tears several times during the film. I'm not going to say I'm not a sentimental person, but I rarely feel sorry for anyone more than I did for Khan, who was separated from his beloved mercy of the crime bosses and the Empire's fond friendship with her. Speaking of love. The relationship with her looks much more interesting and potentially long-lasting than with the Alderaan princess. Kee'ra herself - this is how to call her beloved Khan - is rightfully the second main character of this story. Around her revolves the misadventures of Khan, and it is she who is the part of the underworld that is stuck dead. There is no way out of every situation except death. The more she floundered, the more she got bogged down in this swamp... However, not always in order to get bogged down, insurmountable circumstances are needed.
Tobias Beckett. Rightly called Khan's criminal mentor. He is his mentor, and another noble robber, at first glance, in moderation cynical. Alas, just the first one. This happens when, after many years of constant fear for his life, with the absence of more worthy alternatives, a person creates a semblance of a philosophy that somehow justifies the evil he does. Beckett, a gentleman and not a vengeful man, was essentially a victim of his own ideology, which used to justify his life and bring salvation. But at last it could have been different. This has also affected Khan.
The ending, which at first puzzled me, after a little thought, became another hook that once again scratched my heart. In a world where crime goes hand in hand with great power, it's hard to stay good. Especially when your own goodness is the main obstacle on the way to a seemingly unattainable dream. But we know it doesn't seem. There is no happy ending to this story, nor will Khan be like Dryden Voss or Jabba the Hutt. Sometimes only bad guys get lucky. How noble rebels sometimes win, doesn't mean it will always be. Khan lost again and, hoping to grow stronger, succumbed to his darkness. And yet, Beckett lost and the Rebellion won.
He'll win again. Thanks again to Captain Solo.
Picture, music, dynamics, acting (even Emilia Clarke, who is supposed to be wooden in the plot) – all this also liked. I am delighted with the story.
I used to think the second episode was the worst in the entire saga, but no spin-off about Khan turned out to be worse. I have the name ' Star Wars' associated with battles of ships in space, battles on lightsabers, epic and sweep, mystery and, of course, family ties. The budget of the film is as much as $275 million, which is a huge sum. But what did they spend it on? The movie has surprisingly little action in the same Transformers, which cost $75 million less, but the minute schedules are 30 more. I think everyone wanted to see Khan as a great pilot on his ship, but his ship shows up for 15 minutes, which is very short. And the main problem of the film is that it is made in incredibly dull and gray tones, that during any battles you can not understand what is happening. All the scenes with visual effects were shot in very dark tones, as I said, and when I came to the Star Wars movie and especially from Disney, I expected something more than to show a small battle in some impenetrable darkness! Khan showed himself in the fourth episode as an incredible braggart who talks about all his exploits, and in this film there are enough of them and somehow he did not even talk about any of them in New Hope. Everyone and I wanted to see a cooler character than the one in the movie. Here Khan is represented by a natural hero, not an anti-hero-cantrabandist who does everything for his own benefit. As I said at the beginning, the film is incredibly boring. Since this is a prequel, it is immediately clear what will happen! Tell me, who didn't really guess that Khan would win the Millennium Falcon? Who didn't know that Han and his love wouldn't be together? Who thought Han would die during the mission? The villain here isn't interesting, some guy in a suit with fancy scars. Although a little pleased cameo of one character from the trilogy of prequels. Of the pluses, I can single out a secondary antihero - Beckett; Not a bad battle on the train, which, thank God, was a day; acting, a strange screen pair - well, that's it! The result is not very comforting: the film is not bad, worse than Attack of Clones (I have a review of it, if you want, then read it), incredibly dull tones, weak action, excellent special effects, but it is boring and therefore I only put:

In one galaxy far, far away lived-were greedy producers company 'Disney'. As a true empire, they subjugated new worlds, and adjusted to a single standard of corporate quality, everything that was even slightly knocked out of it. Unfortunately, over time, they lost everything that brought them to power. They decided that you could just take famous trend actors, take a battered franchise, put on special effects, and that would be enough. In the director's chair put Ron Howard - a man who at the same time on the shelf are Oscars for ' Games of Mind', Oscar nomination for ' Frost v. Nixon' and nomination for the worst director for ' Code da Vinci'. Well, among the stars lit up Emilia Clarke (mother of dragons and all that) and Woody Harrelson.
And all this cocktail was not enough for the output of a normal movie, because the script was written by people who lit up in the seventh episode of ' Star Wars' and before that their most famous works are ' Dreamcatcher' (according to King, 2003) and ' Bodyguard' (1992).
As a result, we have a bunch of beautiful special effects, but completely ill-conceived characters, each of which is made superficially, has an illogical arch, and poor motivation - all of them are written so ineptly that stop the film at any moment and ask ' what next ' - and it will be impossible to give an answer logically following from the entire chain of events that happened to this character before. No plot twist or loss/acquisition of the actor is justified by anything other than an axe cut through the push of the plot, more like a children's cartoon than a full-fledged film.

This film became for me the standard of ineptitude in the franchise universe, the bottom point of the scale of the universe Outstanding & #39; Star Wars & #39; By skipping it, you will not lose anything - to say that here reveals some kind of backstory of the heroes of the main saga can only those people who have enough to present the plot in two paragraphs.
I still think that the best film in this series was and still is ' Rogue One', unknown as breaking through corporate filters, lately not missing anything but proven cine gum.
I think it will become a new tradition after each episode of Star Wars to release some original spin-off. After the seventh episode, we saw the film “Rogue One” and it turned out to be very high-quality and watchable, somewhat different in terms of claims compared to Abrams’ picture. After the film of Rian Johnson, turned upside down the canons of the already conquered universe, we should have seen something at least for a couple of hours returning us to our origins – the world of adventurous adventures about space robbers. This was the solo about Han Solo – the most memorable hero “non-Jedi” in Star Wars. I watched the movie and will try to tell you why I liked it.
On the planet of Corellia, the homeless Han and his beloved girlfriend Ki’ra are found and at one point manages to make an escape attempt, but the plan is half successful, only Khan manages to escape. The viewer should not despair, intrigue is not killed, it only twists. So Khan, not yet known as Solo, goes after his dream to become the best pilot in the galaxy. These are the motives of our protagonist. In fact, the entire action of the film is limited to the execution of one, but a large-scale task - theft in broad daylight of fuel produced on the basis of some enriched substance, the title was omitted, please forgive. That is, in front of "11 friends of Ocean" in the scenery of a galaxy far, far away. It is also worth mentioning that at least three people sat in the director’s chair and Ron Howard finished it, he is listed in the credits, but the film is not his product completely. Almost seventy percent of the film was shot and Howard was replaced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, not everyone was satisfied with the main actor's play. There must be some stylistic differences, if the director was changed right in the process, then it is worth giving the film credit, because the uninitiated viewer will not notice the difference, and it does not.
The pace of the narrative at the beginning sags a little, but everything comes back to normal when Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian appear in the frame in addition to Khan, that is, when all the favorites of the audience gather. The scale of the story is small, but it suggests that there is more going on in this world than the clashes between the Imperials and the Rebels and the Jedi and the Sith. In the biography of the protagonist, there are no global changes, the main milestones of his life path like teaching at the academy, winning the Millennium Falcon and the first jump into hyperspace are transferred without serious semantic losses.
Actor's game pleasantly pleased Alden Ehrenreik, who turned out not to be such a wooden actor as previously thought. In the image of Han Solo, he organically exists, the truth of the canonical Han Solo little remains, it is rather Star Lord minus humor, a kind of backstory of Peter Quill, and that – both space adventurers, in the future and Chris Pratt, and Ehrenreik could shine the role of young Indiana Jones, another legend of adventure cinema. Emilia Clarke in the role of the girl Khan and the main carrier of narrative surprises plays well, but she will not get rid of the image of the Mother of Dragons until the end of her career, although there are roles where she succeeded. It was right here. Donald Glover as Lando was able to show a convincing experienced adventurer, even more charismatic than the main character. And if the studio plans a solo and about him, it will be even stronger than Black Panther, again for now, but who knows? Woody Harrelson in the role of Beckett looks organic, attached behind him actor dubbing Dmitry Polonsky works properly, getting into any image for which the actor will take. Here, too, he masterfully works out his ambiguous role. The girl who sounds like the android “L-3” perfectly embodied the image of a robotic revolutionary who seeks to violate the immutable laws of Asimov, it is at least fresh.
A spectacular and fascinating film about the youth and formation of adventurer Han Solo. Once again, Ron Howard showed with this tape that the light did not converge on the Jedi and Sith and you can develop interesting and dynamic stories in this universe using a variety of scenery. Of good luck, it is worth noting the visual series, the composer’s work, the ability of the operator to accentuate details in the frame, the production of chases, the absence of annoying moralizing dialogues and the absolute ease of perception of the film, as it seemed to me. I advise you to familiarize yourself with everyone, especially fans of ZV. Good to you all!
- An adventurer. Smuggler. Women's favorite. Dreamer. And just a good guy, Han Solo, finally got his solo movie.
In general, the idea of spin-offs in the universe 'Star Wars' seems to me extremely attractive. And not only because I’m a repulsed Soundwriter, waiting with trepidation for every release with the sign 'Star Wars' but also because products ' Disney' in this direction so far very successful. There is no need to go far for examples.
So, actually, about Khan 'Kessel's arc in 12 parsecs' Solo.
This is something completely different from what was previously released in the framework of ' Far, Faraway galaxy'. The other side of the coin is not directly related to the Force and the Skywalker family. The civilian side is, in a way, underground. The story of how the Galaxy changed under the yoke of the Empire.
From the first shots, the viewer is thrown into the thick of events. Chase. Shootouts. Chase again. Shooting again. An unexpected turn. Shock. Nostalgic awe (for those who remember the original trilogy) And chase again. Shooting again. Such a space action film, in the best traditions of the genre, under the sauce of a gloomy atmosphere, and inherent ' SV' entourage.
Among other things, very interesting, colorful characters. The younger versions of Han and Lando have definitely succeeded, although it takes a while to get used to them. Secondary, passing, episodic. Everyone else is in. True, the heroine of Emilia Clarke, that the love interest of Khan, caused doubts. Not so much the heroine herself as the actress embodying her. This image does not suit her, that of all caste, Emilia somehow does not, strictly subjectively.
What about the plot. It is not full of originality, in a nutshell it is 'Corellian robbery' (Corelia is the native planet of Han Solo directly.). But there's plenty of twists in there. And the ending is straight 'Wow!!' no one expects that. (A few spoilers!!)
There were also some shortcomings. If you're waiting for the details of Han's childhood, they're gone. From the very beginning, we have a ready-made protagonist and everything attached to it.
Meet Chewbacca just for a tick. Three-minute scene.
There are also many shortcomings, but I hope that this gap will be filled in the future. And, yes, in the end, the boldest hint of a sequel.
To get the maximum pleasure from viewing, it is strongly recommended not to expect anything, not to build guesses and theories. It is even better to discard all knowledge about 'Star Wars'. This is a different (almost) story.
Now probably no one will be surprised by the fact that the franchise ' Star Wars' moved into the category of annual conveyor, and here in principle, probably nothing surprising, as a sin not to earn money on such a blessed material. But everything turns out sometimes not as standard as it would like fans. The numbered parts of the franchise were decided to alternate with spin-offs about a variety of characters 'Star Wars' and these spin-offs are designed to expand the plot and structure of the world as much as possible. And if with the numbered parts everything goes not so clearly, then the first spin-off about stealing the plans of the Death Star turned out to be very useful. About the story of Han Solo during the filming went quite a lot of different rumors, and it would seem that many are already knowingly disappointed in it. I will not hide the fact that I myself for a very long time avoided watching the film, because I completely did not believe in it.
Once again, the events of the next film of the franchise take us to a distant galaxy, where the insidious Empire extends its racketing hands literally to every corner of it. On many planets and on many worlds there are clashes with the soldiers of the Empire and there are still many who try to resist tyranny. The young daredevil - Han Solo, in general, is not so much to do before all this, because he just dreams of getting out of his home planet, which has become a concentration of total poverty and lawlessness. The film will tell about the formation of Han Solo, about his acquaintance with an unchanging friend - Chewbacca, as well as about his first trips on the Millennium Falcon.
As in the case of the same ' Outcast', the picture about Han Solo has its own unique atmosphere, which is not found in the previous pictures of the franchise. In general, we are given to understand from the first minutes that the world in which the characters live is extremely unfriendly. At the same time, throughout the film there are no notes of humor, similar to the part that brought to the films of the series Harrison Ford, trying to play his character. And Alden Ehrenreik actually tries very hard to be like that very Han Solo, he tries to make similar grimaces, walk the same way and generally it seems that the person really got used to the role. Against this background, doubly embarrassed by rumors that he allegedly needed a tutor in acting. The man really tried, even tried much more than the vast majority of other characters in the film, although the problem here is only one – it is just that it is impossible to outplay Ford in his iconic role. As for other faces, Donald Glover tried to portray something there, but he did not play Lando Calrissian, but as if some other, albeit colorful character. Personally, I remember Lando in the performance of Glover quite different. But with Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clark, everything is very sad, they seemed to completely care about the whole film from the high bell tower and they did not play even half of what they are capable of. Clarke's all over here. From the very beginning, I felt like she was the fifth wheel in the movie. She's got a completely boring character that you just don't care about. Something similar was in 'Genesis' and she played a crucial role there. I won't consider it a sentence. Well, what is characteristic of ' Hana Solo', it does not care about all the characters. So you know perfectly well that nothing will happen to Han, Lando and Chewbacca, and nobody else is really interesting here. Characters come and die, these episodes seem to have to somehow get through, but all these dying heroes just do not care, because they are like the same type of dummies, not at all an example of those guys who were in ' Outcast' whose death looked really epic, but at the same time very tragic.
With special effects in ' Hana Solo' everything is in order - shootings, explosions, chases on ships and of course battles in space, needless to say that everything is done at the proper level. But despite this, when viewing you do not leave the feeling of some sterility of what is happening, as if for the production of the picture just typed a whole bunch of the simplest templates, and according to their patterns molded all the action. That is, the film is by no means so bad, it is really worth watching, especially since it has even managed to fill it with references to the original trilogy, but after watching it there is nothing left at all, it is like gum, which, when reused, is likely to expose even more shortcomings. At the same time, history here seems to have been missed in places, obviously in the expectation of a continuation, which apparently will no longer be.

' Han Solo' is the second project in the universe 'Star Wars' subtitled 'Stories'. The film went through all the circles of production hell, and the final result was appropriate. All fans of blaster shootouts are welcome to Correlia.
Telling anything about the plot does not make much sense, it is a simple story about the formation of a favorite character, which does not claim anything. Let’s start with caste and characters.
Han Solo himself, performed by Alden Ehrenreik, turned out not bad, but this is all that can be said about him. The young actor, of course, is not Harrison Ford and does not have his charisma, although he tries. But this is the case when effort alone is not enough. Alden Ehrenreik lacks experience or any natural charm to attract attention, and he does not stand the bar that the character puts before him. Forget that running around the screen curls is the legendary Han Solo, and the actor simply gets lost against the background of much more interesting characters.
A much more vivid character was Beckett performed by Woody Harrelson thanks to the charisma of the actor himself. But visually, the hero turned out to be very impressive, a fluttering cloak, blasters in both hands, which Beckett famously twists on his fingers in the manner of cowboys with their revolvers - a classic romanticized image of a robber, shifted to the rails of space fiction.
Interesting was the young Lando Calrissian, whose role was played by Donald Glover. Here is a really great hit in the image and similarity with Billy Dee Williams, who played the role of this character in the original trilogy.
But Emilia Clarke in the role of Kira - the lover of Han Solo - did not make a big impression. I can’t say anything about her game because she had nothing to play. In the frame, she is always lost somewhere in the background, and even when the narrative focuses on her, she still looks faded. Probably, this is the director’s fault, or she was uncomfortable in this role, because in other projects with her participation, Emilia looks much more colorful and attracts the eye.
Of course, you can praise the excellent visual part - general landscapes, costumes, special effects, stylistics of the universe ' Star Wars', all this looks great, there are no complaints about the picture. The action is also very good, even if it does not amaze the imagination, but the same shootouts look very dynamic, and you do not want to take your eyes off what is happening on the screen.
But there are claims to the dynamics of the film - if the first half looks quite cheerful, and the protagonist is watched with interest, then a lot of subplots are added, the narrative already seems overloaded, and the feeling of the film seems to be beginning to bother, and it would be time for it to end - but no, there are still twenty minutes of timekeeping with a storyline ahead, which came out from nowhere and it is unclear why.
Coming to the finale - ' Han Solo' not the best film of the franchise, but not the worst. There are undoubtedly advantages in it, but they are balanced by the main drawback of the picture - it is too faint and passable. After a few hours, the film is almost completely erased from memory, like most of the characters. Personally, I remember from the whole picture only one action scene on the monorail, which was generously teased in the trailers, and you will agree, this is not enough for a film in the universe ' Star Wars' even though it is a spin-off.
The news that the second film in the “Stories” series in a galaxy far, far away will be dedicated to the most famous smuggler Han Solo, I reacted positively. Despite the contradictory attitude to the new canon, I really liked the story of “Rogue One”. It gave me hope that the Han Solo movie would be the same. But then came the disappointing news about layoffs, substitutions, additional shooting, unpleasant rumors ... So, after watching, the impressions remained confused.
This is the story of Han Solo, an orphan from the Corelli system, forced to steal for the local cruel mistress Lady Proxima. The story where he joins the Imperial Navy, after which Khan goes to prison, where he meets Wooki Chewbacca. Together they will meet a lot of interesting personalities, will interest influential crime lords, get involved in a war that they dreamed of bypassing, pull off an incredible maneuver and soon become legends.
The story of Han Solo’s youth was one of my favorites in the Expanded Universe, especially thanks to the Anne Crispin trilogy that I’ve read over and over again. I, of course, knew that we were waiting for a completely different story, besides, I did not have high hopes. Especially given the complexity of production.
I can’t say that the film looks easy and simple – after all, dark times have come for a galaxy far, far away: wars, smugglers, illegal trade, the fight for valuable minerals. But still expect a not so gloomy atmosphere: involuntarily one gets the impression that the criminal path is the only way to survive the Empire galaxy. I want more good and more hope.
I also had a lot of complaints about the story. In the end, there are many questions that remain unanswered. For example, with the criminal cartels, the syndicates and their leaders, I got confused about who is who and what kind of game they play. The motivation of some heroes is also unclear. In general, the plot develops somehow sluggish and sometimes boring. There were interesting moments, but the duration of the film was felt repeatedly. Here is the best of the storylines was just the central line of Khan, his story, his path, his decisions that will lead to fame.
Of the unambiguously successful moments, we can single out the chic special effects. What Star Wars does really well is the beauty of the vast cosmos. After all, it is thanks to this galaxy that I now dream (fully aware of the impossibility) of traveling among the stars, seeing new worlds and its inhabitants. Space travel is as impressive as spaceships, especially the legendary Millennium Falcon.
I liked the characters in the movie despite some doubts. In principle, I approved Alden Ehrenreik's selection for the role of Han Solo. And in principle, he coped: his Khan is a talented pilot, an excellent shooter, sometimes overconfident, who hides his problems and anxieties behind a crooked grin, who is always ready for battle, always has a backup plan, and always shoots first. The only thing that can cause criticism is that he does not give the impression of a central hero who will always attract your attention. It only works with other characters. Especially from the Wooki, the most interesting thing was to watch Khan in tandem with Chui. This duo, without a doubt, succeeded! One thing that really impressed me was when he was getting ready to go through Kessel’s arc. Solo assembled, confident in his skill, preparing for the impossible jump - this is probably my favorite moment of the film.
I also evaluated Lando Calrissian, played by Donald Glover, which is an exact hit in the image. This is how Lando and remembered after the original trilogy, and Donald handed this image masterfully: a seductive look and a sparkling smile, a chic suit - at first Lando gives the impression of a rich hood, but then you understand that he always has an ace up his sleeve, he will always be able to turn the case in his favor, but not yet ready for heroic actions.
Not bad was the hero Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson), a mercenary, smuggler and adventurer becomes a mentor for Khan, but you never know who he is devoted to – the common cause, or himself? The funniest heroine was the Lando droid L3-37 - fiercely fighting for the freedom of droids, possessing not only unusual ideas and thoughts, but also having the largest navigation system in the galaxy.
And here are the characters who have raised a lot of questions: this is Keira (Emilia Clark), Khan’s ex-girlfriend, who reappears in his life, and her current boss Dryden Voss (Paul Bettany). I still have a lot of questions about these characters (although I really like them). Kira was especially embarrassed - although I realized who became her prototype, there was still a lot of incomprehensible, secret, you can even say raw. As if decided that the heroine enough past relationship with Khan and the current incomprehensible with Voss, and some secret (also not quite clear). As for Voss, I will say that he was simply not allowed to reveal: I believe that having a little more screen time, he would be much more spectacular and brighter.
Overall, I’m happy that the movie made it to the cinemas despite all the challenges. And I have no doubt that many viewers remained, if not delighted, then definitely satisfied with the viewing. I'm still choosing Legends. Although the movie seemed pretty good to me. But the story of legends is closer to me.
Nice viewing!
Corpse ' Star Wars' pulling the strings, pretending that it moves - this is my association arose after watching a series of new films on this interesting universe. No new film was not liked, and not because I'm some fan fixated on old movies, no, with old films met not so long ago, and even given their decent age, they were able to interest me and charm, while all new creations disappoint with dull plots and uncharismatic actors, the scripts are written as if some graphic lovers. Oh, Lucas was wrong when he sold the rights to Disney, although many predicted what is happening now.
Let’s start with the main character, who falls into the image of Han Solo, like an arrow past the target in the bushes. Appearance faded, memorable, acting as in Russian soap operas, some attempts to portray emotions and at the same time wrinkles do not earn. This is not Han Solo-hooligan, brazen and self-confident, this is some slut who does not know how to portray neither rage nor love. Emilia Clarke is a good actress, but she just has nothing to play here.
The picture in dirty tones is dirty sandy, dirty blue, dirty red-brown. It's not Disney, it's an arthouse. So you won’t admire beautiful space or landscapes because of dirty filters.
The music is seen in the background, inexpressive, as well as the picture that is shown.
But the most thrashing is the script. From the first minute, what is it? What the hell is going on? Where is the logic and connection between the scenes? Where are the hanging guns that will fire? Where the hell is Han Solo's story?
Further without small spoilers can not do. The appearance of Chewbacca from the brown mass in the literal sense of the word, simply negates all the charismatic character. And then the big question arises - how did he instantly become Khan's best friend, did they become related to showering together? Hmm. We thought that friendship was born as gratitude for liberation from slavery, in which a furry forest fell, and it looks like everything is prosaic. Very strange Khan became friends with bandits, strongly attracted by the ears.
Villains are sluggish, worthless nannies, they do not even need to be beaten much to destroy. The main “villain” was painted with red scars, the origin of which will not be explained, but the behavior of this “godfather” turns frightening scars into a funny aquagrim. It was necessary to tie the lit fuses to the ears so that everyone understood - the villain!
Cyborgs and droids design squalid (some pots and buckets from the trash), with one cyborg overdid in humanizing and attributing the full range of human feelings, as well as overdone, depicting the attitude of people to the robot. In old movies, droids and cyborgs, scattered in the trash, did not cause a sea of fake tears, because people silently took up a screwdriver, a soldering iron and reassembled a pet, this is not a person whose soul flies away irrevocably.
There are enough laps in the film for every frame. Here you and trains on the rails with valuable cargo without enhanced security, and this is in an era when aircraft are used even to hike for bread in the nearest cosmo-bakery. Valuable substances are guarded by a couple of hardheads, which even text messages can not send all the posts that she attacked them, and the attack of mysterious robbers can be ignored, for which they offended will catch up with you to... show that they are nannies.
Another inexcusable blunder - at the beginning of the film introduce new characters and soon they are pathetically killed, you by the end of the film and do not remember that they were. We don't care if they're dead, why do they have their pompous speeches, tragic music on everyone, we see these types for five minutes, their character is not revealed and all we know about them is that they're bandits, so why show the next stage of their agony through the frame? Should we be sympathetic?
The big advantage of the new film from the movie universe is that it does not test the viewer’s knowledge of the details and heroes of the long life of the entire franchise. Who is Chewbaka and Han Solo – everyone has long known who are imperial followers too, so it remains only to watch the new mini-history, which makes Howard’s tape available for its content not only to fans of the franchise.
And the mini-story is quite simple, Khan, who has not yet become Solo, runs away from his planet, meets the enterprising character Harrelson on the way to reunite in the future with his beloved, and then everything is quite standard - light shooters, flights on light aircraft in everyday life, gambling with various kinds of alien individuals, and high-speed travel around the galaxy.
Ron Howard, by and large, did not take away or add anything from what the viewer is served on a platter with each release of a movie from this universe, in the plot a decent amount of humor and jokes, good large-scale scenes and expensive special effects, so if you do not mess up a couple of inconsistencies of global history and significantly redraw the past, fans should not be angry with Howard for anything.
It’s another matter whether this project gave something to Ron Howard himself – I think besides the fee, the names of the directors appear with each part of Star Wars, and in this aspect Howard did nothing unusual. However, "Han Solo: Star Wars" Stories" looks quite cheerful, although it is an expensive toy when you talk about it, but the film is not a bad choice to pass the time.
How do I feel about movies in the franchise after Disney bought it? In general, neutral. ' The Force Awakens' was ' so-so' and only remotely resembled those same ' Star Wars' from childhood. I can’t call it a bad movie, but it’s also a good one. Then Disney decided to launch a series of spin-offs. And came out 'Rogue One' Some people liked it, others were horrified after watching it. I did not share the thoughts of both sides. To me, 'Rogue One' is an incredibly spectacular adventure that unfortunately only wins because of the graphics, really good characters and the scale for the spin-off. Otherwise, the tape, alas, was quite mediocre, but, again, far from bad! Then came the eighth episode, subtitled 'The Last Jedi' which wasn't exactly a surprise. It was just quite different from the previous one. He took all the good from 'The Force Awakens' diluted the pluses 'Rogue-One' and divided the minuses of both films in two. It was pretty decent! I remember even calling it the best movie made under the auspices of Disney. And now there is a new spin-off called ' Han Solo' about the greatest adventurer of a galaxy far, far away and his friend Chui. The film had many reasons to fail. Among them, a change of director, a very scant advertising campaign and a huge number of additional shootings. But the main reason for the militia of fans on this tape is the main actor. Since the film tells about a young Han, the legendary Harrison Ford because of his age could not play it. Many believed that the actor could not convey both his charm and his selfish inclinations. Therefore, poor Alden Ehrenreik had a very big responsibility at the same time not to destroy the image of Ford and bring something of his own, since the copying will be even more scolded by fans of the original "Star Wars" & #39; And now there will be a spoiler for a further review of the tape. Ehrenreik not only looked like a young Ford (thanks to makeup artists and costumers), but also managed not to defame the image of a selfish adventurer with a good heart, bringing a lot of new things to him. Anyway, Alden's a great guy. Now, perhaps, after such a long introduction, it is time to move on to the analysis of the tape itself. This is my subjective opinion!
' Han Solo' is a tape where the number of significant pluses is approximately the same. There are a lot of positives here, and there is something that the eighth episode could get rid of. Among the main merits of the years are undoubtedly entertainment, visual component, touching, ' typical' franchise humor, the climax and finale of the tape, acting by Ehrenreik, Glover, Harrillson and Bettany, as well as a stunning soundtrack. But the most important achievement can be called the return of the atmosphere of those very "Star Wars" & #39; the atmosphere of a cheerful and exciting journey of favorite characters through seemingly native places of a distant galaxy. This is amazing! This is what all previous films lacked. You know the characters you know will survive, but you still worry about them every minute. Bravo to Ron Howard, bravo to everyone involved in this film! This degree of immersion is not even in all the old 'Star Wars' there is... It was just magical!
And now I will try to finally wipe the tears of nostalgia and tell you what the film failed. Perhaps the main problem is, albeit stylish, but very confused beginning. The movie starts out pretty dark. And when you already tune in to a serious manner of storytelling, you throw a huge amount of humor. Keira, performed by Daenerys Targaryen (oh, Emilia Clarke) is not a bad character. But the actress played average. The third sin of the film is an incredible number of plot holes, blunders and random coincidences. Congratulations (sarcasm) to the creators of this film that they were ahead of the entire franchise in this aspect, even ' through holes ' illogical twists and turns of the plot of the seventh and eighth episodes. The fourth problem is excessive locality. A lot of people praise it, but I want to make a little bit of a fuss. I know it's Han Solo's solo (a pun will be understood by those who have seen it), but it's two hours and fifteen minutes and it's one thing. Just one case in Khan’s life, albeit so important, is simply not enough to fully reveal the characters. And I understand that if a lot of these things were stuffed into the film, it would turn into a real mess. But at least two things would not hurt the film. I will also refer to the main villain who is evil because he is evil. Too bad the world doesn't want to take over. Actor Paul Bettany, of course, well done, because he dragged the whole role.
To sum up, ' Han Solo' is an average tape, but made with a soul, so we forgive her most of her sins. Forgive me for the unique spirit of adventure.
Ask what Rogue One and I will answer without hesitation, “About struggle and heroism, about the desire and desire to live free, about small people who gave their lives for a big cause, as well as about love ... and about how the Death Star got vulnerable.” A short description of a large-scale history.
Ask what Han Solo and I are thinking. All that comes to mind is “On what kind of girl Han had before Princess Leia, how Khan got his blaster, how Khan met Chewie, how he got the Millennium Falcon, and how he met Lando.” A feast for a devoted fan who loves such details... and I love it, but it’s never the only thing to tell us.
For some reason, it is difficult to call the film a solo movie. The film doesn't even really complement Han, it's more of a case he was involved in. We are immediately immersed in a period of life when Khan is almost formed as the person we met in New Hope. It's a plus and a fat minus. Plus, because they got into character. Minus because there's no sense of Han's youth. It looks like a stretched short, designed to add a small touch to the character of the future hero.
An ordinary and normal episode from the life of the galaxy, designed to pass the time between something more serious. There are beautiful and fascinating scenes, but this is as little known.
Neither good nor bad. Alas.
Perhaps this film turned out better than other new films on Star Wars, primarily thanks to Ron Howard who knows how to tell interesting and fascinating stories.
Initially, it seemed that the film would be much worse than the previous parts (although much worse), since at the box office it was much quiet, advertised little and it seemed that Disney does not have much hope for this project, but suddenly Hannah revealed much more from the Star Wars themselves than in the praised Rogue One. If the story of Jean Erso was designed to plug the plot hole, and the film was afraid to move at least a step away from the original trilogy, then here the creators turned around, pretty diverse plot.
Since the film is the backstory of Khan’s life before meeting Luke, and in fact the beginning of his path, the film focuses on our smuggler whose story developed separately from the conflict between the rebels and the empire, in previous films there was not even a hint of Solo’s past, it was clear only that he is a smuggler, thanks to this event does not have to be adjusted to old films, no, our hero has his own independent story, meeting on his way both old and new heroes (although of course it is clear what will become of many of them). Since we have a space western here, then the action is tied mainly to shootouts and fights, but elements of the Jedi technique, to the delight of fans, are also present.
But one of the elements of the film still causes sadness, is the play of Alden Ehrenreik, it is very unconvincing. Looking at his Khan, you don't understand how such a shoe, which everyone turns as they like, grew into the famous smuggler of the galaxy. He is always in the shadow of the other heroes, all the time they are on the pick-up, whether it is his girlfriend Hana Keira, or his mentor Beckett. Around the hero are constantly intriguing, constantly something is planned, and all he is able to do is get into a conversation at the most unnecessary moment, trying foolishly to defuse the situation. We see in Khan, not an independent figure, but only an errand boy, who is constantly thrown by everyone, and Alden seems not to know how to play him, then smiles then claps his eyes, and all this looks very tense and unnatural, which is very annoying. In general, there is a minus, but the other actors played well, Emilia Clark especially liked, in contrast to her on-screen partner, she coped perfectly, you can see how her character is overwhelmed with emotions, her Kira is very alive and causes both positive and negative emotions, but in any case it is interesting to look at her. Donald Glover, who played Lando, looks in this role as infused, here you believe that this is exactly what he was before meeting Han, he is overwhelmed by cunning and courage, he is what is called a cheater with a heart of gold. Other actors are also good, Bettany, Harelson, Newton, in principle, play at the proper level, although to some extent they are simply present in the frame, since their roles do not allow them to unfold fully.
To sum up, the film was wonderful, maybe not logical, but interesting, as it was required, Ron Howard told Khan’s story properly.
Analysts find out why Han Solo failed at the box office. Really? The modern industry is too steeped in market research. The stupid desire to calculate all the risks completely kills the feeling of life in cinema.
When Lucas came up with the idea of Star Wars, he was not even believed that the film would be a success, and that it would become a cult and legendary for a generation and no one could imagine. Here's the recipe for a good movie that has life. What do we end up with? A dummy. The movie is absolutely disposable and not particularly remarkable. Watching Star Wars sequels and stories is like peeking into an empty fridge, you're all looking in there hoping you'll find something edible, but nothing appears.
Everything looks paper. No, the special effects are fine, I liked the slightly gloomy picture, the clothes, the scenery. I mean the content itself. Everything is empty. You don’t worry about any character, the fact that Khan is destined to die much later we already know, and the rest of the characters remain not so revealed and their death does not cause any emotions, for droid and then it is probably more offensive than for people, Lando worries more for her than the character of Woody Harrelson for his partner.
Solo has no character either, he just curves and does not get a smile from his face, just like the hero of the Inhabited Island. He has neither fear nor joy. Mother of dragons here is generally on the side, at the end we find out that she is in the service of the power of evil kind of, but if she was not, nothing would have changed much. What's the love line? It would be easier if it was a cash-hungry smuggler just caught by Hanu along the way. Emilia Clarke doesn't look like a person to me. If this is a Western, let them have an affair, and then at first they wrapped up about love, motivated them to return to northern Karelia, and she herself managed well and even in chocolate.
Dear Mickey Mouse please stop already please keep the Star Wars body connected to the life support machine, let it die peacefully covering itself with great glory. Or fire all the analysts and risk creating something new and interesting. But you can't live like this.
That's not how it went from the beginning. Problems at the production stage are one thing. There's something else. Han Solo is a fictional hero who enjoys great audience love. Inventing and making a film about his youth is already a wagon of problems. And there was only one thing right. Oddly enough, this is the choice of the main role. Alden Ehrenreik coped, and it is a great merit to properly portray such a significant figure.
But the plot of the film is very weak. Tight, uneven and pale. There are a few valuable events. Service in the army of the Galactic Empire, acquaintance with Chewbacca, acquaintance with Lando Calrisian, making an unthinkable space adventure. Finally, the moment when young Khan becomes the owner of the legendary spaceship called the Millennium Falcon. This is a chain of fateful things, each of which deserves close attention. But they're all in the same movie, and they're all very dry. I'm crazy and I'm not fancy. In the end, nothing means anything. They all flash before my eyes, but are not impressive. It reminds me of the very first Wolverine movie. Well, where he had a brother, and where the authors missed valuable material. They could make a separate movie about how Logan and Victor fought on the battlefield. And they made it a screensaver for the opening credits. And here, then, an experienced space pirate, being very young, got into the infantry. I wanted to be a pilot, but I ended up in a meat grinder. And it took very little time in the picture. And he got there for about the same reason as Van Damme, for example, joined the foreign legion in one of his old and good films.
The Disney studio never managed to bring the script question to mind. The problem of ideology is not solved either. Old and beloved heroes they can show only in a poor light. Lando had a sex toy, a female robot. Comments are superfluous. And the robot itself is very unpleasant and annoying. And the words cause righteous anger, and deed.
Many were angry at the eighth episode for similar issues, and rightly criticized. But no one thought of solving the problem. They continue to bravely and brazenly bend their line. They have a huge cultural heritage at their disposal. Colossal material for dispersing fantasy and drama. But they don’t seek to tell a valuable story or create a work of art. They make these movies because a big name and bloated advertising should make a good profit. There is another goal for them - to cross out the old and to slip the new, in which there is nothing new except creative impotence and useless propaganda.
But if the seventh and eighth episodes continue the old and beloved fairy tale, now the new hosts have decided to get into the heart of the already ready line, and it works against themselves, and against their film.
The special effects are good, even very good. Stolen music from the fifth episode sounds good. The music that was written for this film is empty. The plot is a series of pictures that do not make up a single whole. Space and planets are unimpressive. Because it's gray and familiar. Snow again, sand again, in this regard, only a space storm looks good. Although, the big explosion among the snow-covered mountains is also pleasant as a spectacular find. These are two moments in the film that delight the eyes and surprise the imagination. The actors are not interesting. Although, the efforts of Woody Harrelson and Paul Bettany in the supporting roles are worthy of respect. But this is not enough when the overall picture is dead.
We decided to rent it after the third Avengers and the second Deadpool, which had no problems with advertising. So there was the first film in the history of “Star Wars”, which failed.

As a strong fan of Star Wars, and with it George Lucas as an author of creative ideas, I felt a strong distrust of the film, knowing that it does not fit (or at all) with the plans of the father of the cinematic universe. However, the solo about Han Solo was very unexpected. Contrary to expectations, Olden Ehrenreik looks very good in the image of a young adventurer. And although he does not reach the level of Harrison Ford , the character looks alive, so the main detail succeeded, from this you can already breathe calmly.
But normal – not good, and the film required a high-quality plot with interesting characters and important moments, showing the background of the beloved hero. And here everything is not as clear as I would like. First of all, I want to note that the writers managed to hook such a devoted fan as me with the storylines of Khan, Kira, Beckett and Chewbacca, which I was probably as pleased as the image of Khan himself. The appearance in "Star Wars" Woody Harrelson is generally something amazing! However... there are four disadvantages that pretty much knock the excitement out of the rut.
First, the soloist struggles to seem like a prequel to the classic trilogy, but somehow stubbornly forgets that at the same time he is a direct continuation of "Revenge of the Sith", references to which were well too few. More specifically, it wasn't at all. Secondly, strange borrowings from "The Matrix" evoke thoughts about exhaustion of creative potential of creators. Third, not fully disclosed hints on "New Hope". Those who do not know anything about the personality of Jabba the Hutt are unlikely to appreciate such allusions, but it is a pity.
And finally, fourth, this is a strange overkill with the desire to surprise sophisticated viewers. Lando is not a very visible character in the movie universe, but making him dependent on the droid character to attract extra attention was a clear overdose. Some understatement, strained dramas and unfinished storylines, as well as an unexpected finale leave a lot of questions and a shadow of regret that Star Wars has finally become a film distribution business to collect profits from fans, because it is now clear to everyone that Disney has clearly planned more than one spin-off.
However, one important thing to understand is that spin-offs, however, are a departure from the main plot. So, from the pathetic story with the Jedi and Sith, you can take a break.

A film about a bright and extraordinary pilot and smuggler and his friend-wookie by definition could not be boring, gray and sluggish. But the filmmakers did everything to make it so. The film did not work from the very beginning: we changed the directors, rewrote the plot, added characters, trying to somehow correct what was in the beginning, but on the way out instead of a cake, we received unpleasant porridge and a bunch of questions to which no one waited for answers. And the saddest thing is that the main goal of this project was not fulfilled: we were promised to show how Han Solo became the best and fastest pilot of the Galaxy, how he met Chewie and how he came to the life of a smuggler. In the end, we were shown nothing. Now in order.
Visual. Made on the principle of Vovki from the Thirty-Ninth Kingdom: ' Yes, laaad, and so will come!' The effects are very poorly done. Everything takes place in a kind of fog and grayness, almost all the scenes were surrounded by some smoke and sparks, as if someone was burning fires in the background (or it was already burning in advance from fans, who knows). As a result, the picture was very dark, gloomy, blurred, incomprehensible and therefore uninteresting. And the main and most expected parallels - Han-Chui and Khan-Millennium Falcon - sunk boredom in this fog irretrievably.
Heroes. I don’t know where the director and his team looked when they chose the actor for the lead role. This is a complete miscast and the main disadvantage of the film. The round-faced Alden Ehrenreik doesn’t look like Han Solo, and no matter how hard he tried to grin, his attempts reduced the similarity to Ford to zero. In addition, the actor was clearly not a boy of 20 years. The hero was not only without a past, but also without a name. That he's the best pilot in the galaxy won't be shown to us - he'll just keep saying it. In general, the characters are indistinct, their motivation is incomprehensible, they rush from one goal to another: they are on their own, then suddenly the saviors of the oppressed, and somewhere closer to the second half of the film I want to shout: ' Well, you will decide!!' The heroes have a lot of secrets that we never bothered to reveal. The characters were stuffed into the film, some of which were quickly merged, and the brightest and well-written hero was, oddly enough, a droid, not a person and not even a Wookie. Is that normal?
Plot. Apparently, the writers were betting on surprise. Because they did, especially closer to the end. The rest is an immeasurable number of plot holes, and - surprise - not a word about how Khan became a pilot, how he studied at the Academy, how he became a smuggler. Even his legendary name, as it turned out, gives him incomprehensible who in some incomprehensible situation! The acquaintance with the Wooki - which many wanted to see - turned into some kind of indistinct nonsense. We saw Khan the Infantryman, Khan the Thief, Khan the Cheater, Khan the Debtor, Khan the Liberator, but we did not see the main thing - Khan the Pilot! Every character has a secret or a secret, and you’ve been waiting for something to be clarified for the whole movie, but it hasn’t happened. Discovery of the characters, the essence of what is happening and the plot itself is pushed through boring dialogue, not through action. Even the initial scene of the action looks very boring and boring, it is a lot of illogical and stupid chatter, empty phrases like ' Well, we are faster, right?' and the lack of even a hint that they care. The film did not bother to introduce us to the heroes, show the viewer what they are, and, as a result, you do not worry about them at all. The film lacked at least 10 minutes of backstory because it didn’t start. The viewer immediately poured the action and the chase, and who it is, where and how to treat the heroes is unclear. There was no chemistry between the characters. And the action in the picture was kind of awkward and out of place: the war is unclear with whom, the uprising of the droids, the robbery of the train (??), the escape from the Kraken, albeit in space - and this film about Han Solo? And the brave imperials are generally shown by some fools who, like hedgehogs in the fog, wandered in some strange battle in the smoke and among the sparks.
The film is another Frankenstein monster, remade and remade, and it did not benefit him. Khan's story has turned into something tedious and gray, with a bunch of chatter instead of spaceflight and unmotivated heroes with mysteries they can't solve. The only thing that reminded me of Star Wars was the sound of AT-AT shooting at the beginning of the movie and the presence of Chewie. Otherwise, it was something very incomprehensible, uninteresting, vague and boring. Instead of exciting and bright space flights, local battles, shining Millennium Falcon and desperate feats of Khan in the pilot’s seat, we have a medium tailoring Western, which takes place on dusty and smoky planets in the outskirts of the Galaxy.
