The word "normal" describes the film as accurately as possible. If it was based on a fictional script, it would be much better. It's a scumbag movie. It is not clear how to empathize with the main character.
Kroc is something rude, Slavic, not ours.
Ever since I was a child, the United States of America, as a country, aroused in me a secret awe. Don't think I'm grabbing at the gloss and brilliance of Atlanta, the grayish haze of New York and Buffalo, Santa Fe; everything that loomed on the TV screen didn't interest me at all. The Americans cast a white canvas around the continent and on it they began to embroide a drawing, sometimes motley, in places quiet, like the ocean surrounding the coast of California.
It is in California that the cunning Raymond Kroc visits the tour, which subsequently changed the whole life of the unsuccessful salesman. From a salesman mixers, constantly beating on the edge of rejection, he climbs on the heads of two naive brothers to success, to a new surname, because no "Croc" (how wild it sounds!) Ray's not here anymore. He's McDonald. And this name will only be shared with him by the clown Ronald.
In this film there is no morality, the right to think it up remains with the viewer. If you are far from business, you do not have the power to “crush a competitor”, then, of course, you will grasp the lamentations of the M brothers, sympathetically hug them by the shoulders, as they are each other in the end of the film, and cast a glimpse at the figure of Croc. Otherwise, you are a trader / entrepreneur / another businessman who has joined the ranks of managers, happy in their passions. As some might think.
Is Croc a scoundrel? Maybe. But so successfully laid his drawing of the Golden Arches that the yellow-red thread of the franchise now permeates the countries of Europe. Ray became a part of the laws of a country where the principles followed by the passive masses kill some and allow others, young people from Slavic families, to become symbols of this very country.
I’m always amazed at how much Hollywood movies John Lee Hancock makes. He's a real genius at that. “The Founder” of 2016 is literally the same glossy, sugary, gnashing theatrical film as his previous works.
There’s not much to tell, because it’s a story about “How the Mac was born.” In the film, we will watch the path of Ray Croc (Michael Keaton), his ups and downs (well, a little about the McDodick brothers is mentioned, of course).
When watching it, I felt that the film would literally divide people into 2 camps. One film will seem an inspiring story of a man rising from the bottom to the dream of many - his successful business? Others will find in the picture a parable about the gradual decomposition of the lamp idea of two brothers who wanted to feed people with quality, and about an evil salesman who stole their company.
Therefore, you need to approach the movie with full awareness of how you feel about such stories and characters.
Of the more objective disadvantages, I can single out a completely non-working drama. We are constantly made to think that Rey Kroc puts his ass on the line every second and here it is, like the Bread sang in one song - Baby, don't be afraid! Go for a point!
In fact, all its success is due to the complete absence of any competitors in the market. That’s why the whole movie doesn’t ask Ray, “How do I come up with something unique to stand out?” He is simply offered one idea how to save / increase sales after another, and Kroc is just sitting and freaking out from what is happening Not seeing overcome the difficulties, it feels like Rey pulled out a lucky ticket.
In fact, it reminded me of Martin Scorsese’s bad version of The Wolf of Wall Street for the students. There, DiCaprio played the same immoral pig - Jordan Belfort, hungry only for money. The key difference lies in the ending of the paintings. As much as we like DiCaprio and his crazy life, Scorsese shows the real cost of such behavior, reducing everything to its logical conclusion. In The Founder, Lee Hancock shows a chela walking around for his wallet, but you know how the movie ends?
Not at all, Carl.
We just show Michael Keaton with his new wife, in a beautiful house, preparing a speech for the next performance, and then shove documentary footage where everything is good for the real Ray.
But I'm the one scolding the tape. Is there nothing to praise? I say yes. This is a great example of a person who should not be. It is impossible to deny the contribution of Ray Kroc to the development of Mac. Thanks to him, we have what we have now (a comprehensive network of frozen fries). But was it not possible to achieve such results without deceit, parting, betrayal and feast on the turtles of the defeated “enemies”?
The most interesting thing was another arch of the main character. After all, the film very clearly traces the transformation of Ray from a calculated seller of all sorts of junk (as he at the beginning of the picture drives around the cafes and tries to literally squash the miracle of a 100 in 1) to a man with burning eyes, ready to believe in everything that can bring him money, to which come the same sellers of junk in order to sell milkshake without milk or “How to steal poppy”. If he had an air salesman, he would have spent all the money on it, trying to keep up with the profit maximization. So he was just lucky again.
In the end, I want to say one simple thing. Do not build a business (or any other relationship) on the model of “After us at least the flood”, as Russian (and not only businessmen) like to do.

During the first scene, I wanted to buy this mixer myself. This man can sell something, of course, and this is probably his main strength.
He speaks beautifully and is trustworthy, polite and knows what to say and to whom. In the beginning, you even like Croc. About half the movie. Then, you just close your eyes and think, God, this man is very, very unpleasant. I would even say slimy and two-faced. It was a shame to have a wife and brothers. But at the same time, they are also to blame... they would do well to consult with the lawyers somehow, because, apparently, the contract was not violated. Except for this powder thing. But the wife-- very sad that it was real.
On the selling stage, I just prayed that the brothers wouldn't listen to that investor crap. What a handshake agreement... even a child will have more financial literacy. .
In general, these films are usually made to make you feel like a hero. You even watch a documentary about criminals and you regret it more. And here.
But overall, I highly appreciated the film - by nine. He's good. Well, as for G., there is no script to prescribe it cute and fluffy.
Founder: An instructive tale of ambition and greed
"Founder" is a gripping drama about the turbulent rise of fast food giant McDonald's and its controversial founder Ray Kroke. Michael Keaton demonstrates the stunning game as Croc, a determined and ambitious salesman who finds himself in the McDonald’s system, he will stop at nothing to fulfill his dream, even if it means stealing someone’s fries.
During Croc's struggle to control the McDonald brothers' business, he faces difficult ethical dilemmas and must confront the dark side of success. The film perfectly shows the ruthless world of business with all the absurdities and absurdities that people are willing to go for the sake of the Big Mac.
Keaton's portrayal of Croc is particularly memorable as he manages to convey both the character's charm and charisma, as well as his ambitions and flaws. The film also boasts excellent supporting performances, especially Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch as the McDonald Brothers, who bring a sense of humanity and dignity to their roles despite being constantly eclipsed by Croc’s grandiose plans.
The film's ending shows the consequences of Croc's actions and the regret he may have experienced later in life. It’s a reminder that there are always winners and losers in the business world, and that chasing success can come at a price, even if you “love it.”
In general, “Founder” is a must-watch for fans of drama and business cinema. This is a well-shot and engaging film that tells an interesting and important story about entrepreneurship and the American Dream. Whether you’re a fan of the real-life Ray Kroc or just interested in the inner workings of one of the world’s most successful companies, Founder is sure to give you fun.
An excellent artistic narrative of the history of the formation of the largest fast food chain, giving an approximate idea of a successful breakthrough and ruthless entrepreneur. Excellent for motivational mood
The story of how two typical inventors did not understand the benefits of the typical businessman (manager) in a joint venture. And we missed the profit. They didn't need it, though.
Each of us at least once visited the fast food restaurant “McDonald’s”, not so long ago left the Russian market. Everyone ate these burgers, fries, milkshakes. Have you ever wondered where the roots of this place came from? Who created this concept and fast food technology, where you can get food in an instant instead of waiting for half an hour? Probably not many people thought of it. But the American director John Lee Hancock, known for such works as “Novichok”, “The Invisible Side”, and “Saving Mr. Banks”, once puzzled these questions. Apparently, the visit to McDonald’s impressed him so much that he even made a film about it.
Nothing personal, just business. So you can characterize the film “The Founder” or “Founder”, released in the United States in 2016, and in 2020 appeared in cinemas in Russia.
For all time, the biographical drama about the creator of McDonald’s grossed $24.121.245. Starring: Michael Keaton, Nick Offerman, John Carroll Lynch, Linda Cardellini and others. Timekeeping: 115 minutes.
Note: The film is based on real events.
It’s time to move on to the movie itself.
The plot is quite simple, there are no branches, multi-movements and mysteries, but it is intriguing. 52-year-old Ray Kroc played by Michael Keaton goes to different cafes and sells mixers to create milkshakes. But no one wants to buy from him. Kroc has a house, a car and a wife who at first does not support his husband in his affairs, but only encourages him to start a quiet life with trips to the club on a membership card, playing golf. Selling mixers is not the first idea of a man, before that he tried to build a business on the sale of paper cups and folding tables, but everything failed. The environment literally laughs at Ray, but he does not despair and continues to hold on. One day he ordered 8 mixers, which he does not immediately believe. Customers are brothers Mac and Dick McDonald (John Carroll Lynch and Nick Offerman, respectively), who opened their establishment with burgers for 15 cents. Kroc decides to go there and see it. Arriving at the place, the man sees his ideal - a restaurant with an impeccable name, there are no waiters, but there is an innovative high-speed service system, and there are only 3 positions in the menu. All this impresses Kroc and he firmly decides that McDonald’s will belong to him. Thus begins the thorny path of a businessman to his goal.
Conventionally, the film can be divided into 2 parts: in the first, the viewer gets acquainted with the McDonald brothers and with the history of the formation of their business from the very bottom. In the second part, we see Ray Kroc becoming a billionaire and a legendary man.
Initially, it was the brothers who came up with the concept of a quick service restaurant, they came up with its appearance and maintained high standards of management and product quality in their restaurant. But the McDonalds’ thinking was not strategic; they were only interested in local success and conservatism. The complete opposite was Ray Kroc, who hardly convinced them to cooperate on the franchise.
Ray Kroc is a man of progress. It is he who comes up with the revolutionary idea for the 50s of the franchise of fast service establishments, and only he sees the potential where others do not even notice it. He thinks globally and is not satisfied with the level at which the brothers stopped. Croc’s enthusiasm and McDonald’s stagnation are constantly clashing over business development, causing Ray to move himself against contracts. He's mortgaged his house, he's in trouble with the bank, but it's all helping him reach heights. Kroc chose to go head to head. Over time, his business becomes so successful that compared to him, McDonald’s burger is like a drop in the bucket, they no longer matter. McDonald’s is fully owned by Croc, it is in 18 US states and 5 countries, but this is only the beginning of a huge story.
No complaints about acting. Michael Keaton played his part brilliantly. And the image of a loser, and a successful entrepreneur sit on him as infused: the manner of his game, facial expressions and plasticity he overshadows the rest of the actors on the screen.
The fates and personalities of the minor characters in the film are not disclosed, perhaps this is for the better, since this information does not belong to the main idea and would clutter the minds of the audience.
As for the exterior and interior: having a budget of seven million dollars, the authors were able to penetratingly recreate the surroundings and atmosphere of the 50s of the XX century, it is very impressive.
Separately, I want to note the epilogue, where a fragment with the performance of the real Ray Kroc is inserted, and then it is told about who (from the characters of the film) became who in the McDonald’s Corporation in real life.
The moral of the film is based on the statement of the 30th President of the United States Calvin Coolidge. Its essence is that only perseverance will help you achieve something meaningful in life. No persistence, no success. It does not matter talent, genius and education. Only perseverance and perseverance.
Despite the extremely instructive, fascinating story and the presence of good actors in the frame, this work of cinema is a fairly ordinary work for Hancock. It can be called classic for the professional habit of the director, which consists in addiction to stories about famous or unusual people. There are some moments in the film when the dynamic rhythm sags noticeably. So the impression of the film remains mixed: on the one hand, everything is decent and in fact, on the other hand, it does not reach the high cinema kitchen. However, the film could easily claim awards if distributors did not miss the release date.
The film is worth watching, even if you are indifferent to fast food. After all, it is one of the largest corporations in the world, and many useful things can be noted for yourself. Did Ray Kroc do the right thing? Can you call him a traitor and a thief? This will be decided by everyone after watching.
Why McDonald has nothing to do with McDonald’s. . .
Taking into account the official departure of the well-known McDonald’s from Russia and renaming it into a strange network “Taste and Dot”, I think many will be interested in seeing this picture.
I never thought or wondered who invented McDonald’s and how this restaurant became an incredible empire of reference fast food restaurants around the world. This movie is about that!
I don’t remember when, but I’ll try to write a short review. . .
How did I find and why did I choose to watch this movie? In earlier reviews, I said that I have experience in network marketing. And in this area, it is customary to constantly develop, be interested in different things, constantly look for inspiration and motivation for development and growth leaps. I was absorbing a crazy amount of motivating literature and movies in my first year, and that’s when I came across this film.
If you are not interested in business, do not want to do something of your own, your interests do not include advertising, marketing, construction, systematization and automation of processes, then there is a possibility that you will not like the film.
Only after watching this film, I really realized what real automation and quality control is, although I used to consider myself a good specialist in this!
After watching this film, I have much better understood and simplified in my head the understanding of the basic principles of marketing in general for any business, and not for any particular niche.
After watching this film, I really liked how far they can calculate and see the benefits and prospects of the genius of business where it does not come to mind at all.
After watching this film, I admired the level of patience, faith and tenacity of the protagonist, who actually made McDuck as we know him.
An interesting, informative film about the network that everyone in the world knows. Of the minuses, I can only say from myself that the very little was delayed, in the rest of the movie I really liked and fell into the soul!

The main meaning of the film is that to achieve the goal, and subsequently to find happiness, you need to develop such traits of character as perseverance and purposefulness. With these qualities, you will achieve anything in spite of any difficulties. Ray definitely knew what he was doing, for what. He reached his goal no matter what and achieved it. The film also shows that it is impossible to achieve heights alone, Ray Kroc constantly made new acquaintances, radiated positive and attracted as many valuable and necessary people as possible, cut off unnecessary ones. It shows that even if you have lived your whole life with a loved one, you can understand that he is not yours. The authors of the whole film show that on the way to success you have to go through a lot of failures and failures. Only by improving, working on your mistakes, controlling your thoughts and emotions will you fulfill your dreams, satisfy your own needs and find happiness. You need to listen only to your consciousness, to your desires, someone else’s opinion should not put a barrier on the way to the goal. The film shows that you can achieve success, even if not in the most honest way, even immoral, but it can be achieved. People are selfish and for the sake of satisfying their own needs and benefits, ready to violate their principles, betray their comrades, be hypocritical, so you need to have a critical mindset, defend your own boundaries and not allow unwanted people to approach you. Ray Kroc’s main advantage was that he saw the potential of a restaurant that Mack and Dick didn’t see.
The good parts of the movie.
The main advantage of the film is a clear example of the influence of perseverance and determination, the film perfectly conveyed this idea. The authors showed how difficult it is to achieve success, the film shows Ray’s experiences, misunderstanding from the environment, failure. The film also captures the atmosphere of that time in America. All the characters are charismatic, the actors well conveyed all the emotions of the characters. I didn’t notice any obvious flaws in the film, perfectly conveyed the story of the McDonald brothers, Ray Croc. The meanings of the film are perfectly revealed, the film is also made qualitatively, the actors are similar to the people whose history is filmed in this film.

A film that tells the story of more development than the very emergence of such a megaladon in the service sector as McDonald’s.
What can I say? The movie is good and interesting. There is no mesmerizing action or super unexpected scenario twists, but in simplicity its beauty. The main character played by Michael Keaton is an elderly, but extremely enterprising eccentric who is trying to achieve success with all his might, in general.
It's a classic dreamer. After the protagonist finally finds a chance for professional growth, the film shows an hour and a half of interesting dialogues, superficially revealed (for a better understanding of the viewer) legal vicissitudes, interpersonal corporate relationships and how ambition transforms a person. The main character changes significantly on the way from an obsessive salesman to a tough leader of a growing company, which is undoubtedly interesting to watch.
On the one hand, it is a film about self-realization, a dream and aspiration for it, on the other hand, the film’s message is such that viewers are shown what a cruel, ambitious, persistent and confident person you need to be to achieve what you want, especially in such a competitive environment. After watching, there is a certain dissonance in relation to the protagonist: is he doing the right thing? Which side is morally to take - the main character or those with whom he had to work? There are questions to the companions of the protagonist: is it worth giving up more, fearing a repetition of the bitter past? You can argue about this for a long time, but judging by the result shown in the work, the creators give an unambiguous answer to these questions.
Another point: based on real events gave me doubts about the correspondence of the character and his prototype from the story. Could the real Ray Kroc have been what the movie showed him to be? If the work shows it without any preoccupations, it is wonderful, but I, a person who is not very familiar with the history of the birth of McDonald’s, like many other viewers, in theory could actually believe in the ambiguous actions of the character on the screen and develop a negative attitude towards the real Ray Croc, which he may not deserve. This is a question for the creators, did they really write off the character and his actions from the real person or was there a certain embellishment that carries risks to the reputation of a long-dead person? At least I have enough to separate the character and his prototype, because it is primarily a feature film, not a documentary.
In total, this is a simple and good film for the evening and perhaps for another evening after a certain period of time.

America was flourishing and vibrant in the fifties. The era of moral revival, salesmen and sunset districts. Well, it wasn't that bad. Innovation was constantly being introduced. Technology is the engine of history. And then there was a man tired of life, who hesitated to sell various junk. And the nation chosen by God, as we know more fair elections, liked only to eat juicy. And turned around.
I was always interested to see how the most powerful catering in history was created, or rather, how it all began. I've seen the docs about harms, there's a guy eating at McDonald's for a month and then testing the body. No, this is not the case. A very kosher detailed world of blossoming states where all is well. Okay, idle sarcasm, I love America, the history of the emergence of the fast food franchise is interesting at least because the film is executed in the spirit of the Cohens, i.e. visually approached with extensive detail of the era, and a competent cast. Keaton Boch, who hesitates to throw a stone, of course, in my understanding he is the Wayne from childhood, but here he is exactly the guy you believe in. Seller to the bone forging deals on pure enthusiasm, while the country develops on full steam. And the sure thing will be luck, and then a bunch of sharks that will come to eat a lucky businessman. And in this respect, history is running smoothly. And fortunately, they don’t get bored with a competent cast, as they don’t know how to play poorly. John Carroll Lynch, and suddenly Patrick Wilson. But, what can be learned from such a painstaking and colorful narrative? Business disgust lesson. Seriously, it is understandable that if you want to muddle a serious business involved in the idea of a state scale, it will not do without walking on corpses, but here the role of the victim is devalued, because everyone likes to eat in a poppy, most certainly. This tape doesn't reveal anymore.
Overall impression: I love biopics, don't you? How was the world’s most famous McDonald’s restaurant chain created? The viewer will learn the vivid and mysterious story of Ray Croc, who from a salesman-loser turned into a billionaire and a legend.
This is a piece of history, a whole era and the formation of a special culture. This movie is important to watch, because the plot tells in detail how the story of McDonald’s was born. And to be honest, the movie amazed me! Amazing how scrupulous the McDonald brothers were about their business, they were for healthy and natural food (they would know now) But Ray Kroc just happened to get to the brothers in a cafe, caught fire with the idea and honestly did not do very well with them. But you know, it's business, and there are no friends. Therefore, it was the steel grip and desire to have a lot of money that helped Kroc to succeed. But the naive brothers believed Croc and, incidentally, in vain, kindness in one word. On the other hand, if it weren’t for Croc, no one would have known about McDonald’s. And just imagine, it is on every continent, in almost every country! That says a lot!
An important detail is the acting. Michael Keaton played the role of Ray Croc. Assassinated, arrogant, getting his way, that's just Ray Kroc. A multi-faceted role came out, watching Keaton is a pleasure. Do you have a favorite role of Michael?
Cinema fascinates with its narration, curious from what is happening, and the story gradually becomes a seething stream, where GG - Ray Kroc, not ready to give up under the pressure of circumstances builds his empire. I recommend watching a very interesting movie!
Michael Keaton in the past few years again rose to the actor, it all began with the film ' Birdman' which revealed his talent as an actor, and of course everyone remembers that Michael Keaton played the role of Batman.
I have always liked autobiographical dramas or biopics, moreover, based on real events, of course not all films of this format are interesting or exciting, or rather, such films can be boring, but still depend on the story told and on the play of the main actor.
In the same film ' Founder', the main role in which he performed, mentioned by me above, Michael Keaton, tells the story of the formation of the McDonald’s restaurant chain, tells how it all began, and it is a shame that McDonald’s nutrition is considered one of the most harmful in the world, along with their own cocktails, but a person managed to earn a fortune on this, even entered the list of the 100 most influential people of the century, and the name of this man is Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton).
It is not for nothing that I called the title of my review as a founder or a fraud, of course it is rude to call him a fraud, Ray simply took the idea of the McDonald brothers and made it his own successful business, and did it completely without breaking the law, since everything was legally fixed between Ray and the brothers, but the way he knocked the brothers out of business was very aggressive, tactful and clever, and he first gained experience when he first visited their chain of diners, but in business, as they say, there are no friends, a man is a wolf! But most importantly, Ray was able to develop the idea of the brothers and implement it in life, when as brothers doubted it.
I personally liked Michael Keaton in this role, I can not imagine another actor in his place, he is a typical example of the embodiment of the American dream & #39;, a dreamer and a loner, but who did not give up and brought to life his ' madness & #39; and we have what we have.
I advise everyone to watch this film 'Founder' and follow the acting of Michael Keaton and the formation of the empire of the chain of restaurants and diners.
Today we will travel to the USA in 1954 to learn about the history of the creation and development of the fast food chain McDonald’s and the life of the man who put so much effort into the success of the company.
We are talking about the film directed by John Lee Hancock “Founder”, which was shot in 2016.
The film begins with a monologue of the main character, which, in my opinion, very clearly describes the activity of Ray. Throughout his life, Kroc tries to find a profitable business and earn money. He sold plastic cups, folding kitchen furniture, and multi-mixers, but none of this brought him success. And everything seems to be a dead end of life, but fate gives him an incredible chance.
Ray heads to the San Bernardino fast food restaurant McDonald’s, where he meets the founders of the place, Dick and Mac McDonald, played by Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch. There, the hero lights up the idea of organizing a diner franchise, and it is with this that the formation of the legendary manager begins.
On his way, Ray repeatedly faces various difficulties, in which he is helped by people who unexpectedly appeared in his life.
It’s great that the film doesn’t look one-sided, on the contrary, Ray Kroc is shown from different sides – both as a simple person and as a real shark of business with its positive qualities: ideological, active, and negative aspects that will make you exclaim: “I don’t like such people!” How could you do that to Dick and Mac?
But as it sounded in the movie "On the Edge", the review of which will be released next, "The pretty ones do not win." A lot of people realize that Dick and Mac couldn't have developed the network. We probably wouldn’t know anything about McDonald’s if it weren’t for Kroc.
The film has a lot of dialogue, phrases that play a significant role. This is also the scene of Dick and Ray talking, in which McDonald wants to know why Croc didn't steal their idea. And the phrase “Contract, like feelings, they are always spit on”, which helps to build a parallel between the relationship of the protagonist with his wife (love-divorce) and with his brothers (admiration-reluctance to cooperate).
I would like to pay special attention to the game of Michael Keaton, who perfectly showed the grasping character of Ray Croc.
As for the shooting, the picture is shot quite atmospheric, which allows you to fully immerse yourself in the story of the ambitious protagonist.
I think that the film will be interesting to viewers who are fond of American history, would like to learn more about the creation of such a large company as McDonald’s, and just those who like to watch a good movie.
Have a good time!
Biopic of the founder of the McDonald's network. It was very interesting to see how and why this fast food chain emerged, which became a national idea. Very interesting, I recommend.
When the screens came out ' Founder', personally I did not expect anything unusual from him. But after watching, I had a pretty good impression. The picture turned out not quite typical, because there is no idealization of certain characters, it shows life, real life in all its glory, and how to do business.
So, the film tells the real story of the formation of the famous chain of fast food restaurants.
America, '50s. The main character - Ray Kroc, in his 52 years is actively trying to make money, but he does it, to put it mildly, with difficulty. By the way, Ray is a salesman. And now, one day, he receives an order to buy 6 mixers at once. Of course, our main character is shocked by the fact that someone decided to buy 6 pieces of poorly sold goods at once, so personally poisoned in San Bernardino (California) to meet the owners of the restaurant Mac and Dick. From them he learns about their 'speed service system'. Ray immediately invites the brothers to expand, and the development of the franchise takes over. This is how the whole storyline of the film is wrapped.
The film, as I noted at the beginning, does not look one-sided, on the contrary, the image of the main character Ray constantly balances between the positive and the fact that he is still a shark of business, sometimes making quite difficult, from a moral point of view, decisions. There was even a moment in the movie when one of the McDonald brothers said of Croc, "There are foxes in our chicken coop." And he's very accurate.
Overall, the film is really good at showing what the American Dream looked like in the 50s of the 20th century, and how entire empires were being built at that point.
Of course, there is a moment that can confuse the viewer - Ray's complacency. After all, he personally achieved nothing, and even the idea of the restaurant concept was not his, he only clinged to it and began to develop, initially trying to play fair, and then moving to other methods, realizing that in honest business you can not make a lot of money. And this eventually led to the infamous result of buying out the brand and founding his personal company.
There are no complaints about filming at all. Everything is filmed quite atmospheric, which allows you to fully immerse yourself in the story of the ambitious protagonist.
I think that the film will be interesting to watch and those who are fond of American history, and just those who like to see a good movie.

This film is about the creation and development of the fast food chain McDonald’s. And the key word here is "fast," which is, in my opinion, the basis of this restaurant's success.
In those days, probably, it was also cheap food, now with this exchange rate for our country it is not so cheap.
The main character of the film learns about such an unusual restaurant somewhere in the wilderness and begins to cooperate with them in the franchise. What follows is how he tried to spread it across the country and constantly argued with his partners, the founders of McDonald’s.
I don’t understand a lot of phrases about stealing an idea, etc. Shall I be honest with you? Such ideas around as "dirty"! And you take this idea, put all your savings in it, take out a loan and spread it all over the world!!! People will tell you that there is an opportunity to eat so quickly and go about their business.
So I consider these negative reviews only the immaturity of specific individuals. Everyone in this world has a mission. Someone comes up with ideas, someone implements, someone distributes. One person cannot pay everything in a lifetime.
The Chinese wall is built on bones, Peter the baby too. Where have you seen anything worthwhile done without hurting someone’s emotions?
In our case, the creators received almost $ 3 million!! That’s a lot of money today, and even more in those days.
The film will appeal to those who are interested in modern history, human relations, success. I liked the movie and got 9 points.
How was the world’s most famous McDonald’s restaurant chain created? The viewer will learn the vivid and mysterious story of Ray Croc, who from a salesman-loser turned into a billionaire and a legend.
United States, 1954. Ray Kroc - ' unlucky and unlucky' Salesman sells multimixers (and before that - paper cups and folding tables), travels to different towns and talks about ' chicken and egg' (offer = demand), and in the evenings in the motel listens ' the power of positive thinking' 'Only perseverance and determination is the main thing!' - says the voice and quotes Emerson: ' Man is what he thinks from morning to night' One day he receives an order for a whole ' batch ' mixers from an unknown company and the McDonald brothers from San Bernardino. Meeting with the brothers (former director of the cinema in Hollywood) - opens for Krok - ' a new way' ' ruthless dreamer' who turns into ' sophisticated speculator' The scheme of work of the brothers - calculated to the smallest detail (kitchen layout and staff distribution) that leads them to the main - ' Cooking time of potatoes ' fry' and hamburger - 30 seconds' ': Do you want a franchise for yourself? And for the sake of the country? ' McDonald's' - will become the new American church!' - convinces Kroc brothers in the creation ' franchises' citing the example of buildings with crosses and flags on the roof - to create a cafe with the famous logo - ' Golden Arches' ': McDonald’s is a family!' says Kroc and begins to attract friends, partners, rich, poor, believers and non-believers to the business (one day, a Jew who distributes the Bible as the manager of one of the cafes).
': Business is war! Man to man, wolf to man! I will personally finish off a competitor who will sink!' Kroc says in one of the endless arguments with the brothers. The greedy businessman stands on ' the path of war for the taste of the average American' ' McDonald's is America!' - says Kroc.
"The Founder" (English The Founder) - a film directed by John Lee Hancock about the life of American businessman Ray Kroc - the embodiment of the very "American dream" & #39; Entrepreneur, restaurateur, one of the first owners of McDonald’s restaurant chain. Time Magazine named him one of the 100 Most Important People of the Century. He earned a fortune estimated at the time of his death at $500 million. Michael Keaton literally ' burns ' screen, and this is one of his best roles. Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch as brothers - Dick and Mac Mac McDonald - literally secondary characters - ' hostages of their story' who remained those ' village' guys who did not believe in the further progress of their company, and did not believe that powder can replace milk in a cocktail.
Lee Hancock creates on the one hand - an explicit ' advertising ' McDonald's restaurant chains (with the amazing camera work of John Schwartzman, ' the spirit of the era ' and the beautiful music of Carter Burwell), but on the other hand - a typical example of American history - ' single and dreamer' on ' the big, American road' Explicit and implicit ' madness' the protagonist Croc is impressive: this is one of the best movies about becoming ' Business Sharks'.
Behind the veil of a film about success is actually a story about how quantity trumps quality and what results.
The founding brothers, although they tried to oppose the powder cocktail, but without realizing it themselves, the first came up with a conveyor of tasteless food with a countdown of hamburgers sold. Their idea of food & #39; on stream & #39; only grew out of the heads of other people and absorbed them, leaving only a pitiful fee for the name. But would they now be the progenitors of free toilets?
It is a pity that the film shows only the most banal piece of the formation of the McDuck story. The most interesting thing is not how one person bought someone else’s idea (it’s not about stealing – it’s not Facebook! everything here is honestly bought and decorated), but how food began to turn into garbage and kill millions of people. Powder cocktail is the most harmless of the evils of fast food. Perhaps patties-soles and tasteless cotton buns at that time simply did not know how to produce.
Massa doesn't need quality. For the masses, the main price, a bright sign and a popular name. The mass will not want to think what is in the composition, how it was done and why. Mass devours mass, recreating mass like itself. Owners can be accused of thirst for money and neglecting people. But what other than greed, stinginess, and self-disrespect do McDuck’s top consumers have? Both sides are the same and are not interested in anything but profit. It doesn't matter for the stomach or the pocket.
Free toilets will grow for a long time, along with the fat layer of dependent sufferers.
Today, ladies and gentlemen, we are transported to 1954 with the United States to meet a man who, for the first 52 years of his life, dragged a miserable existence, but did not lose hope. He was always looking for new opportunities to achieve success, and once for his perseverance, mistress luck gave him his cherished chance.
Meet the rise of Ray Croc as one of the truly legendary top executives in today’s film The Founder.
"Founder" - a feature film of 2016 from the director John Lee Hancock, telling about the life of American businessman Ray Croc, played by Michael Keaton, which in my humble opinion became his best role in the entire film career.
The plot of the tape takes us to 1954, where a native of the Czech family American salesman-loser Ray Kroc throughout his conscious life drags a miserable existence, trying to earn money.
His fussy manner with assertive enthusiasm evokes only ridicule from the imbiciles surrounding him. The new, unaccustomed products he tries unsuccessfully to promote cannot attract buyers.
Now, i.e. in that era, Ray persistently offers the owners of diners multimixers, with which you can simultaneously prepare 5 portions of a milkshake. Being constantly on tour across America, 52-year-old Ray involuntarily, but have to eat in roadside cafes, where the service and quality of food are disgusting: stupid peddlers, cold food, and in addition to half an hour waiting for his dish to be cooked. Hell is all over.
I guess that's it. Stagnation. Dead end of life. Nothing to do. But Ms. Fartuna tired of Mr. Croc's insistence on giving him the "opportunity" to change his life. Ray's secretary June Martino (played by Kate Neeland) informs him that one of the restaurants has ordered six multi-mixers. Of course, Ray decided that this was a mistake and decided to contact one of the owners of the establishment. And yes, there was a mistake: you need not 6, but 8 multimixers. After a phone conversation with one of the McDonald brothers, Kroc decides to travel there from Missouri to San Bernardino, California, to see for himself what is happening there.
When Ray got to the place, he saw it – the first McDonald’s founded by Dick and Mac McDonald, played by Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch. The restaurant struck Ray with everything from the speed of cooking (in 30 seconds) to the way it was served - in a paper bag. I am silent about the taste of the food that pleased Croc.
And while he's eating his burger on the bench, he meets Mac McDonald, who, after a brief conversation with Ray, invites him on a tour, introducing him to both his brother Dick and the whole cooking system - no secrets. But Ray, inspired by this revolutionary restaurant, decided that McDonald’s needed all of America, and not only the provincial San Bernardino, and decides to take the gift of fate, becoming a partner of the McDonald brothers, helping them to start developing the restaurant business, where Ray will implement not mixers, but the franchise of the brothers. This is the beginning of the legendary manager of all time – unable to sell one thing, but able to implement another. And its motto consists of one word - "persistence".
"Founder" is a beautiful film that shows Ray Kroc from all sides - as a person, as an entrepreneur, and as a real shark of business: we see not a hero, but a personality with its positive and negative sides.
Michael Keaton perfectly played this role, managing to embody Croc on the big screen. Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch also did a great job of reviving the creators of the fast food restaurant system, which millions of copycat restaurants still try to match.
I especially want to note the final scene of a conversation between Dick McDonald and Ray Croc, in which the creator of the system wants to know from the founder of a large corporation why he did not steal their idea. I loved Ray’s answer and stunned Dick (he didn’t really understand until Ray explained it to him). And you know, I agree with Croc.
This film is perfect for everyone, but especially for young people who are just entering the world after schools and institutes. After all, Kroc led a miserable existence for 52 years, until "persistence" paid off, giving "the opportunity" to realize his expectation in full.
"Founder" could be an interesting movie, with such an interesting moral and ethical question in the plot. However, the creators, although they asked this question, did it in such a way that the story is impossible to believe. I don’t know whether it was a bad script or the need to follow the original story, but it was impossible to believe.
Do you know a lot of people who give tours to the first person they meet? Yes, not just excursions, but tell the whole process, the whole essence of your enterprise. This moment in the film looks very tense, but in fact it is the plot of the whole story. If the main character just ate his hamburger and went home, there would be no whole story.
In general, all the problems in the film were solved by the “god from the machine” method. The main character, when any problems arose, solved them by accidentally encountering the right people who helped him. Such scenario moves can be forgiven if they meet once in a movie. In life, sometimes it happens that just lucky, but when lucky all the time, it is already difficult to believe.
The arch of the main character is also not so. At the beginning of the film, he is an active salesman who is rooting for his business and is basically a positive character. But then, somewhere in the middle of the movie, something happens and the character becomes a scoundrel. What has served such changes, why the hero changed, this is not revealed in the film. It seems that there is a motive - there is little money, but to start a raider seizure of the enterprise, this motive is not enough, you need another internal shift in the values of the hero.
As a result, we have a technically well-made film. Watching it, in principle, is not tense, but it is simply impossible to believe in history. It feels like you're watching a beautiful but very simple fairy tale for primary school children. Where everything is decided by some fairy behind the scenes, and the hero, well, he is just present.
The history of the formation of a great restaurant chain called McDonald’s. I have always been particularly sensitive to paintings that are based on real events, or to the stories of real and outstanding people. They somehow energize and incredibly motivate to commit important actions.
The plot is based on the story of Ray Kroc, an ordinary salesman who desperately wants to find something that will change the world. It is faith in yourself that leads a person to success. Belief in your own success, actions and decisions. An unshakable sense of rightness in every step made the ordinary mixer seller, one of the most successful businessmen in history.
Few people know, but the story of Mac Donald’s originated in the head of two brothers, not Ray Kroc. They came up with the concept of the restaurant, the design, the highest standards of quality. But the story of the brothers is also the reverse side of the plot. This is a living example of how different people are. Some see and think locally, while others project their potential success all over the world. Some risk everything, others are afraid to take a step and step back from the rules. Some achieve universal success, others remain behind. These are contrasts of types of people, in my opinion, the main highlight of the whole film.
Of course, it is worth noting the acting of Michael Keaton. Brilliant work and an incredible resemblance to Croc himself. Perfectly coped with the roles of Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch.
Bottom line: The Founder is a beautiful biographical story of the well-known brand shown from and to. The film shows how important it is to always believe in yourself and your ideas. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
Deeply authentic film from the point of view of emotions: shows the interaction of enthusiasm and conservatism, curiosity and caution, interest and irritation.
The main character, an unsuccessful salesman, does not know how to sell and does not understand it. But he has a nuclear enthusiasm that even his wife’s regular criticism and discontent cannot extinguish.
And he has a quick and inquisitive mind: as soon as events fall out of the usual picture of the world, he makes a stand and rushes to find out what is how, regardless of the costs.
Here begins the story of the founder of the McDonald's empire:
History of Conservatism and Enthusiasm.
Spoiler: Conservatism has lost.
On the side of enthusiasm, luck, the presentation of a strategically thinking financier, as well as the active support of a loving admiring woman played additionally.
Without them, the story could have ended where the McDonald brothers refused to change the terms of their original contract with an enthusiast growing their business. (Despite the fact that the enthusiast obviously misjudged the costs of business development and suffered financial losses, while bringing both brothers and franchisees significant income.)
Naked enthusiasm without strategy and solid support ensures results only in a short distance.
(In fact, Ray Kroc’s entire previous life, before meeting a strategic financier, is a living example of that.)
This is a wonderful movie.
“Founder” is about Ray Kroc, who founded the McDonald’s empire.
Initially, the idea of fast burgers was invented by brothers Dick and Mac McDonald’s. In their cafe, they fed everyone cheap burgers and enjoyed life. Ray Kroc himself at the time of meeting his brothers was a mediocre businessman. He was 52, on the verge of bankruptcy, but he believed in the future.
Seeing the idea of conveyor preparation, he immediately felt that millions were buried here. He convinced the brothers to sign a franchise contract with him and began to open cafes behind cafes all over America.
The story of how Ray Kroc became the owner of a chain of cafes “McDonald’s” is very cunning. I haven't really moved in, to be honest. But in the end, Ray bought the rights from the brothers, registered the name “McDonald’s” as a trademark, and drove the brothers out of the market. The brothers had a million from all this, while Croc's fortune was $ 500 million on the day of his death.
For me, this simple story became about how dreams come true. But dreams must be managed. Keep an eye on them and not give them away. According to the plot of the film, the brothers dreamed of such cafes all over America, and Ray Kroc dreamed of getting rich. In the end, everyone's dreams came true. Cafes became iconic, and Kroc became rich.
But it is unlikely in their dreams that the brothers imagined that this would happen. On the other hand, Rey faced setbacks until the age of 52, but continued to dream of success. When fate gave him a chance, he caught his teeth. The brothers continued to dream, doing nothing to make the dream a reality.
This film is also about how success should mature. It is not a fact that if you fail to achieve something meaningful before 30, before 40, before 50, then you will never succeed. Don’t have all the experience behind Ray, he probably didn’t see the potential in this idea. Also, being refused after refused, he learned to negotiate skillfully. At one point, everything that seemed like a failure became an advantage.
Ray Kroc is often cited as an example of how success can be achieved at any age. And it seems to me that it is not about success, but that sometimes there is no other way but to go forward. To stumble, to fall, but to get up and go.
I will watch this simple story when I want to quit something because it does not work immediately or even after several attempts. I'll hone my skills, because my empire is ahead of me!
I liked everything about this movie. History, script, selection of actors.
Everyone is in their place. Caesarean to Caesar...
The history of becoming a small chamber fast food service to a world-class restaurant. 1% dine daily at McDonald's. Surely in the thinking of Croc there are important ideas that move up.
1. Persistence.
It saturates the whole movie. As hard as it is, I remember the big purpose of why. You're doing it for yourself. And even if you're over 50 and you've been selling your whole life, success can come from a few actions. Never, never, never, never give up.
2. Speed.
The fast eat the slow. Kroc acted quickly and decisively. He didn't give you the chance to be stupid. It was a race. If you have already signed a contract to participate in it, then play by the rules.
The world is changing. And either you change with it or you stay in history like a dinosaur.
3. Healthy competition.
Dog eat dog. Rat eat rat. It turned out that the partners have different goals, different roads. MacDonald and Ray stopped cooperating and started fighting. Throwing the tubes led to resistance. To the battle of values and principles. I don't see anything illegal or unfair here. Everyone acted according to the contract. The “dirty tricks” used are nothing more than loopholes in the system that the brothers used to make up the contract. Why didn't they use them? It's about adequacy.
4. Normal level.
Ray's normal was orders of magnitude higher than his brothers'. He was a hungry wolf pursuing his goal. He accepted a great deal of uncertainty that he dealt with. I came up with the result I deserve.
5. Strategy is more important than tactics, but tactics are also important.
At each stage of business development, you need to do what you need to do. Croc is a salesman, not a productologist. Croc is a strategist with large-scale thinking. He finds brothers who want to do tactics, and everyone is happy. But unlike Ray, they forget to move on. This shortsightedness limits them.
6. Selfishness.
The brothers did not want to grow and expand. Their business remained chamber, where geniuses create a masterpiece in the basement. It is the greatest selfishness to deprive people of an amazing product. The world gives feedback: "This is very cool!" Give me more! But the McDonalds retain the status quo, defending themselves by their learned helplessness.
7. Go over your heads.
Ray's being painted like some monster who has abandoned his brothers and taken everything from them. It's full of crap! The MacDonalds spent the whole movie doing their own restaurant without making any effort to develop the chain. Then they get $2,700,000 in bonuses. Who threw them?
For their level of inadequacy, this is a great gift! Kroc gave them money instead of playing dirty games when he could leave them without everything.
Everything is in its place. Caesar to Caesar.
The picture is interesting, fascinating... but there are big claims. First, the truthfulness of the story 'foundations', I heard a completely different version. But that doesn’t really matter, because no one said the movie was based on real events. Much more dangerous is my second claim: It’s an unfair idea that to become the owner of life #39 and achieve your goals, you have to go over your head, act dishonestly, mean and be a jerk... scoundrel. And most importantly, you will not get anything for it.
Well, well, the older (and smarter) generation reflected that point, judging by the comments, but still! They began to justify Ray's actions. And the movie justifies it! In my opinion, the problem in this story was absolutely solvable, it was only necessary to learn ' the right' communication and ' the right motivation' That is, not by manipulation and deception to achieve their own, but through contracts, or at least the same explanations of the situation, and not by throwing pipes. Rey behaved quite selfishly from the position that everyone owes him everything, and became the winner, although in reality, life would quickly throw him off the throne sooner or later. The laws of karma have not been abolished. And that's probably what happened. Even if you look at what happened to Mac himself: the McDonald brothers sought to preserve the naturalness of food and never reduce the quality at minimal prices, and now we all know where this led: not healthy food (there are documentaries about this, for example, chlorine is added to buns), the ubiquitous growth of fast food in America, as a result - obesity and health problems, and, at this point, it is now far from 15 cents. Will the person who created these problems (by karma) be reversed? I will! As well as those who make and sell cigarettes, alcohol, kill and eat meat (I, by the way, eat so that there is no assumption that I am some kind of green fan), etc. Any action has a reaction, and this, in my opinion, should be conveyed to humanity, because cinema affects consciousness.
I'm against a movie where ideas hurt their false truth. It affected my life too! For example: without having a positive influence on my life upbringing, I, like the vast majority of children, was brought up in the culture in which I grew up, for example, cinema. In almost all American melodramas (and action films), which were very popular during my puberty (and even now), there was one idea: you go to the club, swell, sleep with the first person you meet, communicate with him, and voila - he is in love with you, long to get you and necessarily makes you an offer. What did that lead to? At 38, I don’t have any children or husband. It is clear that the reason is not only in the movies, but after all, other teenagers were brought up on this. In the end, we have a society with a very distorted consciousness.
So I think cinema should take responsibility for what it puts into young minds. You know what I mean?
Very rarely catches something from the modern, and this creation is thoroughly carried away. ' But first about money'. Surprised by the fees. Whether people are not as people, or distributors & #39; Accidentally & #39; rolled past the slightly open backstage of the American dream. And the film is not without subtle moments, thanks to which something more weighty is hidden behind a fairly predictable plot. The whole success story, in my opinion, fades into the background compared to the history of the individual.
Ray Kroc bravely endures the futility of his ventures, although the brink of despair is already near. But in the abyss of monotony, he sensed a real opportunity. By the age of 52, he was able to keep the main thing - grip.
Despite the recognition of the main character in front of the true founder of McDonald’s #1, I do not believe in his original insidiousness. He grabbed the chance. At first glance, there is no extreme drama in his life. He's not poor, he lives in a house, he has a car, he doesn't have any health problems. The financial situation may have gotten a little worse lately, but we don’t see a clear hint of poverty in the film. Except for the stacks of coins at the payphone... There is another threat, it is the main character perceived more acutely - the threat of unrealization in life. Not the thirst for success, but the fear of unrealization against the backdrop of an increasingly persistent sunset. Ambition is in his blood, but it's fuel for something bigger than himself. Flags and crosses, America is full of them. He is simply not interested in being good and righteous against the background of a modest life, friendly giving way to the young and sliding to the sidelines of life. He needs more, he needs scale, and he found it. Yes, in this turn sprouted and a lot of unpleasant for others: egocentrism, ingratitude, cunning ...
Against the background of the germination of wolf teeth in the main character, the soul of the viewer reaches for the brothers. And they are in many ways more pure, complementary parts of the whole. We can consider them naive, blame them for the lack of strategic thinking, the inability to negotiate. But that's not exactly true. They are a great team and are quite forward-thinking. It was more important for them to maintain themselves than scale. They're not against growth, but they don't run headlong. If a milkshake means milk, not powder. If it is not clear where to get beef, then do not open a new point. But what I don’t want to be like brothers is how they lose. The ambiguity has undermined the ideal. Value the name and then sell it. Landing took over. This choice can be understood, logic can be found in it, justified in many ways, but it no longer has the will to do anything more.
Without the irrational female field, even the most successful and rich biography would be bland. Two women, two stages in life. Maturation with one and laurels of success with another. The cocktail scene is like the quintessence of eroticism and business. One of the problems of the business is overcome by a surrogate solution, but in Joan's hands, the powder cocktail becomes like a real one. A foam on the lips, a glass on the background of the neckline ... bravo to the director and actors. What's business here? And despite the fact that Ray would not have thought of, or even would not have dared, with all his courage, to take such a qualitative step towards savings. But fascinated by the peculiar presentation, he carries the idea of his muse into business like a flag and breaks down the wall of prohibition of the McDonald’s brothers.
It would seem that in the end, Ray can be admired only by someone who puts only success at the forefront of life, for whom there are no concepts of honor, nobility and other things, or there is a price for them. But there’s one thing about him that even a moralist can do. Persistence? No, go deeper. Instilled in fear of unrealization, Ray is not afraid of death and loves life. You can think of this love as surrogate, ugly, but it is what it is. Ray does not dissolve in ambiguity, he is consistent to the end. Whether such consistency is the guarantor of success is not at all. I can imagine drunken rays, crushed to heart attack or imprisonment by more sophisticated business tycoons, rolled alive into concrete by bandits, but I can’t imagine Ray accepting 'net' and accepting it forever.
