In my opinion, this is one of the best John Travolta roles of late. Even the usual role of an action movie looks strange. The film is about a man who lost his beloved wife, right during their long-awaited meeting, after separation. The viewer will certainly be imbued with this tragedy.
I've seen a lot of movies about revenge for killing my family. But this one, in my opinion, is special. It is fair to pay tribute to the actors who played negative characters. Thanks to them, cruelty looks very realistic, and cynicism clings to life. The film is about corrupt policemen who let the case go by, even with full evidence. Despite the complexity of the plot, real friendship and effective mutual assistance, in which people understand each other half-word, really lifts the mood. Brilliant work in a team that has shaken even the most powerful figures in the underworld.
The religious factor is perfectly presented, which suddenly the forehead is faced by a completely unbeliever. The inner experiences of a strong and courageous man who became a widower at the dawn of his strength are well highlighted. The strength of the plot is love, which gives strength in debilitating moments. And finally, the revenge is quite beautiful.
The film is absolutely not original. It's seen and seen. It’s not like such a hand-to-hand and crazy drive, but this picture is filled with an atmosphere of tragedy and difficult events make you shudder at every acute moment. I would even do a much bigger aspect on the dramatic side. It's not often in old-school action movies that you see a drama that's so strongly pitched, very realistically brought to life. I would also like to note that there were absolutely no boring fragments. All the pieces of this film are organically built and, although there are quite a lot of conversations and sobs, everything looks clear and fascinating.
Revenge the main character is quite cruel, but perhaps this is a rare film from those I watched, in which revenge, as a deserved punishment, brings real inner satisfaction to the victim of arbitrariness. The plot is worn out, but I can say that it is always relevant. There are things going on around us that are not always legal and right. But it's a pity that we can't do anything about it and we just have to be an observer.
John Travolta was never on my top list of actors, but in this picture I think he played quite strongly. His emotions and experiences are perfectly conveyed through the screen to the viewer. You really believe in him and empathize with him throughout the film. It’s great that while many stars in their 50s are losing status and agreeing to do everything, he managed to play a good role in an old-school action movie, a genre that I respect and try not to miss. I will also highlight a rather strong game of Christopher Meloni.
I recommend watching. Not the best quality of the crew will be overshadowed by the actors and the whole bloody story. Connoisseurs of the genre of action B-class must watch.
Meeting his wife, one very heavy man faced trouble, in the face of a small street bandit who, using verbal abuse and firearms, demanded revenge for wasting his time on honest citizens leaving flights and citizens meeting them. A comrade would break a scoundrel, and break his face on the asphalt, the benefit of the dimensions allow, but alas, he begins to carry a spoken recitative during which his wife is killed, and he himself did not recognize in time what the husband is left with nothing, without his wife with a concussion. Thus begins the era of revenge and the husband, offended and insulted, stands on the path of the warrior of the avenger, surrounded by misunderstanding of government officials, and by inaction on the part of the police, he himself decides to bring pain and revenge to all those involved in the murder of his wife. This will help him a long-time and very mysterious army friend, because alone will not cope, and a friend and gadgets will fit and provide equipment. And let the battle of one heavy husband with the rest of the world rolling into the abyss begin. And let a new, super-fashionable action movie with veteran tapes of different caliber John Travolta begin. This time he becomes a dangerous man taking justice into his own hands.
Sometimes there are good fighters and there are not very good ones. Not useful for health, some need to keep the brand even in old age, or work on the desire to return the role of the action hero (although stealing trains turned out to be more beautiful), so John took on this time-consuming role of the tycoon of revenge for the murdered wife. It’s not that the movie failed, it’s just that it’s relatively cool, and relatively not fresh. It refers everything to the blessed nineties, if not the eighties, where the cardboard hero avenges someone. Following the concept of Seagal, Travolta first tracks one member of the gang and then tries to catch a larger fish behind the death of his wife. His pursuit of revenge is accompanied by jokes and jokes on behalf of Christopher Meloni who very successfully added the tape, just such an assistant and should be such a hero-avenger. With a full arsenal and a secret shelter resembling a Batman cave. And again, hopelessly outdated techniques that look not very much in a new light and therefore do not deliver at all. Delivers only the hero of Meloni, and in some places the visual range, immediately recall the past victories of John against the background of this film, but defeat anger can not be called it certainly, so the cabbage with the participation of a cool star who plays at the level of the allowed budget.
Yes, of course, the film can be seen, but it should have been released fifteen twenty years before the scheduled premiere. For in the picture everything is very simple. Here's the offended John Travolta, there he is, there they are, obstacles in the form of tattooed thugs, but, oh surprise, double bottom mystery secret trick. And here she is perfected revenge with the help of a friend, for the hero himself, oh suddenness, turns out to be himself not baldly sewing with a hint of a dark past, which instantly raises the question. If you're such a commando, even an ex, why didn't you protect your wife at the airport? Then and conceptually the film could be built differently, why this running, understandable for the beauty of the plot, and the visual component. They are, and in places it is interesting to watch, a nostalgic feeling wakes up from what John and his accomplice are doing on the screen, as if you are reviewing an old naive action movie from those distant years when they were not old and were perceived differently. The director obviously wanted to shoot a nostalgic hit in tribute to the old days. It turned out to be a bit dry but you can watch just out of a sense of nostalgia and nothing more.
I haven’t seen a movie with John Travolta in a long time. Although the film does not show anything new, it still leaves a pleasant impression and not only because of the wonderful John Travolta, to watch which is still very interesting, there is no less cool Christopher Meloni in the film, his Dennis I really liked.
Many films are made about revenge for his wife and in this regard, the film shows a typical story where a grieving former mercenary will do anything to get even for his beloved wife, who knew a lot.
Of course, the film is for an amateur, someone like me likes such films, where the main character restores justice, where chaos and corruption reign, someone is not interested in such films. But as I think once at least it is worth watching this movie at least because of the chic duet of John Travolta and Christopher Meloni.
The beginning of the film reminds me in places of Robocop, in terms of crime and chaos, they rub that now they will restore order, that there will be a struggle and all that, but in fact it is clear that these are just words.
Despite the fact that such stories were shot a lot, I still really liked Stanley’s emotions, how he repented in the Church, how he did everything to restore justice, in the 90s there were a lot of such films, and of course the films then and now are different, but it is such stories that continue to interest and excite me, well, the episode when John Travolta comes out and tries to detain him for me one of the best moments of the whole film, if not the best.
In the film, good shootouts, a good confrontation with the Lemie Kay gang, well, in general, a good average film turned out.
John Travolta, probably hasn’t seen his year since 2009, and I’m glad to see John even in such a film, I liked to see how he along with Christopher Meloni destroys the gang and reaches the governor looked spectacular, he certainly isn’t as cool as Keanu Reeves, but looked quite decent.
Christopher Meloni, At first his hero for me was even cooler than John's hero, he was more responsible approach to the case, everything was thought out, analyzed, everything he had planned, and in the fight he still looked cooler than John, what is the episode when Lemi Kay's gang came to him, and how he dealt with them - it was the best episode with his participation for me, but still in the denoue of the film and in the climax for me, so John was cooler, and his phrases on the themes of his wife and daughter I was very much like his confession.
Quite a good action movie turned out, which sometimes reminded me of the 90s, was glad to see John Travolta, was pleasantly surprised by the coolness of Christopher Meloni, had a great time watching this film.

A little preamble. Try to remember when and what was really a worthy movie with John Travolta in the title role. If it took you some time to reflect, it should be obvious that the once popular actor is once again experiencing a creative slump. His career began with the incredibly popular Saturday Night Fever, an Oscar nomination, a triumphant return in Pulp Fiction. But then... “Battlefield Earth”, and, recently, the paintings with him are not of the best quality: “Sorry Holidays”, “Season of Killers”. Of course, he has had his successes, such as in the recent American Crime Story or Dangerous Passengers of Train 123. But it seems to knock out good projects for him is becoming harder and harder.
These reflections lead us, as viewers, to the last entry in his extensive filmography - a film about revenge under the catchy title "I am anger." Travolta has already played in a kind of sub-genre vengeance, antagonist (The Punisher), so this irony is quite appropriate. And the director was Chuck Russell - certainly a talented creator ("Mask", "Washer", "Drop"), who, however, last sat in the director's chair for a major project as early as 2002 ("The King of Scorpions"). Perhaps he lost his skills, because “Anger” came out predictable and ordinary a little less than completely. But "Anger," in my opinion, failed for a number of reasons. People, critics, and the creators themselves seem to understand this. Suffice it to say that the film did not even receive a theatrical release, and was content only with Internet services and DVD.
John Travolta plays Stanley, a former mercenary who witnessed the tragic death of his wife at the hands of thugs. Frustrated by the fact that the police were not able to go far enough in the investigation, Stanley decided to take justice into his own hands.
I Am Anger is the kind of movie you’ve probably seen. During viewing, there is (and more than once) a feeling that everything that happens is somehow secondary. The standard subject of revenge, rather mundane investigation. Like a soft version of “Death sentence”, “John Wick”, “Hostages”, but only with an abundance of clichés that pull the picture down, not allowing to reach the heights of the genre. Yes, the films listed above also had a number of cliches and conventions, but they, firstly, used these cliches in their favor, and, secondly, had their own unique style. The script “I am anger” as if written based on these films by a man who did not know how to interpret these or other plot moves.
The problems of “Anger” include a very dull action, as well as the lack of worries for the hero Travolta. Stanley shot a couple of people, beat and tortured others, but he does it so mechanically and routinely that there is no way to immerse himself in his pain and experiences. Perhaps it was more rational to make a story about a simple guy who went too far in revenge (just like in "Death Sentence") than a clone of "John Wick." And the villains here are nothing more than walking corpses with weapons. Stereotyped menacing bandits with big guns and tattoos.
If I Am Anger is the kind of movie that John Travolta is interested in, he should consider his career. I know and understand that he can do better. Perhaps he will be able to revive his career, but if he continues to act in films category “B”, then look at him will be more painful and painful.

Any example can become contagious. Especially if this example is positive. All this is especially vividly demonstrated in the work of actor Liam Nisson over the past few years. When being a purely dramatic actor, Nisson effectively shook the old days and proved that even the elderly have a place in action movies and with age, gunpowder in gunpowder does not lose its condition. Hence, it is not surprising that against this background, many veterans decided to try themselves in the genre of action films. So, after Sean Penn tried his hand in “Ganmen”, on the same path, John Travolta took this picture of the director Chuck Russell.
Chuck Russell can be called one of the most underrated directors of his time. Worthily continuing the franchise “Nightmare on Elm Street”, colliding humanity with alien slime in “Drop”, comically shifting the cult comic “Mask”, putting one of the last strong works with Arnold Schwarzenegger “The Eraser” and significantly expanding the universe of “The Mummy” by Stephen Sommers “The Scorpion King”, Russell proved that he is able to work with any material and any genre. But completely lost for many years and returned with this film, expectations for which were high. But alas.
The director of the picture Chuck Russell shot quite a passing action movie. If it came out in the distant 90s, the film would have won a special sympathy of the audience, but alas by today's standards it looks extremely outdated boring way. It would seem that the picture has a considerable number of shootings, fights, explosions, destruction and chase, but they do not cause much delight. Even if all these action scenes are performed in the nostalgic manner of the old-school militants of the 90s.
The plot of the picture is also excessively caricatured and beaten at the most I can not. Something similar has already happened in a huge number of different films that do not have a final score. Killing a loved one again. Again, the main character is a man-army. Revenge again splits the enemy’s camp into pieces. The characters are absolutely caricatured, and the plot of the picture is obvious and predictable from the very beginning. Even the main character’s relationship with her husband was not revealed at all. That does not allow when watching the tape to feel the drama and grief of the main character.
Nevertheless, a certain dignity of the picture gives the presence in the film John Travolta, if in place of which another actor, the film would look much poorer. John Travolta finally got out of oblivion and for the first time in many years a series of frankly weak and passing roles demonstrated his acting skills in all its glory. Thus, making you remember those times when the crown of a Hollywood star had not yet fallen from Travolta, and he himself was able to pull even the most problematic and weak pictures on himself. Although this is not the best role in the actor’s career, this is definitely the brightest ray of light in the last years of the actor’s work. Although it is worth admitting that he was easily pushed into the background Christopher Meloni. Let the character play a secondary role in the development of the plot, but Meloni managed to create an extremely charismatic and vivid image.

I am anger – this is absolutely passable average action movie, which in the 90s would have earned special popularity and attention. When the current situation looks morally and technically outdated. Except that, allowing you to watch the film to the logical end with the ease of storytelling and the long-awaited return of John Travolta to more or less worthy roles.
Before the release in April 2016 of the crime thriller “I Am Anger”, its director Chuck Russell had only six feature films in his career and it is so interesting that “I Am Anger” could be watched not only because of the fact that John Travolta played the main role in it. Russell began his career with the horror film Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Warriors of Sleep (1987) and managed to keep it afloat, even though he was shooting a triquel. Then there was another horror movie, The Drop, which came out just a year later. “Drop” was weaker than Russell’s debut work, but its audience in any case found. And then there was the film that made stand-up comedian Jim Carrie a real movie star – in 1994, the world saw the famous comedy “Mask”. But Russell somehow could not develop his success: the action movie “The Washer” (1996), the mysticism “Save and Save” (2000) and the fantasy “The Scorpion King” (2002) looked good, but did not cause much delight.
And this, as you understand, a very good director returned to us in 2016 to shoot a criminal action movie. The script for it was written by Paul Sloan, who starred in a cameo role for Russell in “The Scorpion King”, and other films in the field of screenwriter Sloan turned out to be ignorant of what; the second screenwriter was Ivan Gauthier, who made his debut with the film, which at least was released. And they wrote a script about how one successful businessman is killed in front of his beloved wife. The police only pretend to investigate the case and even release an identified killer. The businessman understands that he cannot wait for justice and takes matters into his own hands, especially since he previously served in special forces and is still able to draw up a plan and destroy the murderer of his wife. True, he does not know that the corrupt government of the city is behind all this, but a former comrade in the military craft comes to the rescue, and now bad uncles are not good.
And everything would be fine if not for one condition – such a scenario was suitable for the era of militants, that is, “I am anger” is about twenty years late. Now the sole vengeful hero is no longer in fashion, the viewer has long since become more demanding, and with such a plot he needed action and needed a spectacle, and in "I am anger" and with one and the other is not so smooth. Honestly, we can even say that some action is present in the form of shooting and explosions, but the spectacle in the film is almost absent. Chuck Russell couldn’t make “I Am Anger” sound like a nostalgia. The combination of the militant and modern trends turned out to be implausible and even banal. Although I do not want to discourage anyone from watching, maybe someone will even like the formation of the plot, looking from the 90s of the last century. Still, to say that “I am anger” is absolutely a failure in any way is impossible, it is mediocre, but not bad, this is for sure.
By the way, to date, I can not say that the film, in which John Travolta is listed as the main actor, becomes wildly attractive. Unfortunately, the once superstar and impressive man with crafty sparkles in his eyes lost the positions won by the acting game. This has already happened to Nicholas Cage, Bruce Willis, Keanu Reeves... Naturally, we hope that they will come back to us in the best shape and will be happy again. In principle, Travolta coped with his task as for the film “I Am Anger”, in places he was aggressive, funny in places, tragic in places, that is, the multi-experienced actor did everything that was prescribed in the script, only here some features were missing, the depth in the image (depth even in action films is needed). John was the exact opposite of his character from the movie The Punisher (2004). A good partnership for John was created by Christopher Meloni, who was even prettier in the context of the game, of course. The rest of the actors somehow left nothing behind, an empty place from the supporting actors. This is certainly not in favor of the overall picture.
I Am Anger is an average action movie that might have looked better about twenty years ago, but it came out in 2016. You can’t talk about him, there was a return of John Travolta, he needs to do something, otherwise he is unlikely in the near future to add something interesting to his colorful biography. Actors should not give up, and Robert Duvall’s example proves that. But if you miss the straightforward action films that made stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Bruce Willis, you can pay attention to the film “I am anger”.

Criminal action film in the best traditions of the old school
The rating of the film on the movie sites is disappointing and is almost ready to collapse somewhere next to the ugly hack, which regularly shrugs Steven Seagal for the last 10 years. Honestly, it is a shame for the film (although it is much more offensive for Universal Soldier 4 by John Hyams). Looking at the audience rating (a common mistake of any moviegoer), the poster and the general presentation, I thought that I was going to start watching some boring thrashack with John Travolta who passed. But it wasn't! Before us is a more than worthy movie with high-quality production and execution, as well as with an interesting and strong script. I was pleasantly surprised.
It is worth noting that here in general the main part of the team consists of the old guard, each of which is involved in various kinds of old movie hits: himself Travolta, director Chuck Russell and operator Anjay Sekula. The old people did not pump up and gave out a delicious atmospheric product, pleasant to the eye. And the composer Haim Mazar also did his job perfectly, providing the action with a drive exhilarating soundtrack.
Travolta is better than ever. It sets the heat and looks 50 or younger in its 62 years. Separately pleased with his duet with Christopher Meloni and their excellent humor. Both actors managed to embody two cool guys on the screen properly.
You should not expect any special seriousness or revelations from this film, however, in its genre it is more than serious. Before us in all its glory appear corrupt politicians - the favorites of the duped public, and around them - respectively corrupt police. You say you've seen all this before? Me too. But in this case, the whole story part is presented and revealed competently and interestingly, despite its simplicity. In addition, the film has the main plus - it catches and keeps attention to the very end.

P.S. Those viewers who also liked the film, do not recommend to miss another old-school coolness of recent years in the same genre: be sure to watch "Welcome to the Punch" Eren Krevey, "Bullet to the Head" Walter Hill and "Wild Card" Simon West.
For John Travolta, 2016 was more or less successful. If in past years the star played a role in one or two films at most, this year John will appear on the screen at least three times – serial maniacs have already appreciated “American Crime Story”, in the action movie “I Am Wrath” and the western of Ty West “Valley of Violence”. Well, while the series are extended for the next seasons, and West’s western is just getting ready for release, it remains only to watch I Am Anger – the return of Chuck Russell to the feature film. Plans for this return are very good - the picture managed to capture not only Travolta, Christopher Meloni and Rebecca De Mornay, but also a decent budget of $ 18 million, which indicates the producer's doubts to the director (would this trust be greater, then the budget increased). What came out of it right now.
He quit dirty business a long time ago. He chose family, peace, honest work. This went on for many years until Stan's wife was killed right before his eyes. Desperate to find the killer, in the fact that the police do nothing, sits idly by, he decides to take justice into his own hands. He knows many ways to find criminals, knows many ways to punish them. Accepting the inevitable, Stan embarks on a path of violence, cruelty, which is very sweet and justified.
Maybe Chuck Russell was a competent director in the past, but now he has to prove his talent again for the return was a success. This project can be considered an initial start, hard training to achieve victory. In fact, "I Am Anger" turned out to be in the rhythm of the militants of the 90s, a bit reminiscent of today's cinema. The movie, where one guy takes and trashes everyone and everything, not new for a long time, you can take in seconds and list dozens of films with a similar theme, which will be better and better. It would be better if Chuck went in the other direction, made an adventure film or a comedy (he knows how, time-tested). Pouring tar into this barrel and the script of the debutant, Ivan Gauthier and working with Russell on the “Scorpion King” Paul Sloan. The script, like the film itself, is very outdated – the locations are the same, the story is the same, the characters are the same. Only a small, insignificant part of the story has been changed. There is nothing new here, some templates slightly changed in the plot, but there are no innovations here, the writers simply changed the names of the characters, a few scenes, nothing more. It’s a weak script, and the people who wrote it should be thinking about whether it’s a script that’s needed when it’s released every day. Good, high-quality work is demonstrated by the cameraman Andrzej Sekula – the camera is always in place, chooses the right adaptation, each scene is shot perfectly, especially shootouts. Not badly written music from the composer Haim Mazar. Not bad compositions, confidently created for each moment - the composer understood how to equip a particular scene with music. It wasn't bad.
As is sometimes customary in such action films, the camera is aimed at only one thing - the hero, performed by a famous actor. In this film, as you can see from the cover or inscription, this position was taken by John Travolta. I cannot say that the film does not need John, on the contrary, to some extent, it is his presence, the play, that pulls the film out of a series of problems and devastating evaluation. John tries to bring the film the right atmosphere, the right style of the old 90s, and he succeeds, with the help of Christopher Meloni. Meloni saves not only the main character from unpleasantness, he helps the game to raise the authority of the film. It’s a shame that the film itself seems like a small disappointment, but the duo of actors brings their colors with their good performance.
Total:
“I am anger” – the picture is extremely weak, albeit saturated with the atmosphere of antiquity, the atmosphere of the past and the 90s. Chuck Russell should hardly be proud of this work, because for 18 million it was necessary to make the film more spectacular, spectacular, and make the script completely different, not walk the same stairs 150 times. Playing actors is not at the highest level, but it, again, saves the film he self-destruct. It is hardly worth watching if you are not a fan of those times or John Travolta (for whom most people want to watch the tape). The rest are better off watching any other revenge film with a similar plot, which is several times better. You don't know? For example, John Wick is better than this creation in all articles, so it’s better to watch it than this.
Thank you for listening!
This film starring John Travolta is painfully similar to one of the films in the filmography of Nicholas Cage. Even in the name they have the same word. It refers to “Anger”, in which the hero Cage is looking for a mysterious killer of his daughter.
I do not get tired to repeat, but it remains only to state the fact – how old are beloved since childhood actors! Travolta is no exception. "Faceless", "Punisher", "Password Swordfish", "Broken Arrow" - a charming big man has in his track record a number of landmark and quite interesting works.
The plot of the film “I am anger” focuses on the head of the family Stanley Hill (Travolta), who loses his wife in a car park in a fight with a gang of scumbags. After burying his soulmate, he decides to live on the principle of “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.” Not caring about the consequences, he follows the trail of a street gang, methodically dealing with bad guys. And helps him in this old friend, with whom, as it turns out when watching, they had a very interesting past.
As I said above, “I am anger” is like “Anger.” Both there and there the main character loses a member of his family, and there and there the main character has a friend / friends who help him in the difficult search business, and there and there the main character has a very dark past.
In general, the plot is banal – a man obsessed with revenge is looking for those who are guilty of the death of his loved ones. How not to remember “The Punisher”, in which Travolta played the leading antagonist. The fact that the creators of “I am anger” did not bother much and removed an ordinary action movie, of course, gives a general impression, but at the same time, there are moments that you can pay attention to.
Firstly, the friend of the hero Travolta – a tough brutal man, very aggressive and reckless. A vivid confirmation of this is the scene in the barbershop. It was after this episode that I had a positive idea about the character of Christopher Meloni and along with the hero of Travolta I had to worry about him.
Secondly, the shooting and fighting scenes that abound in the film are filmed with a slowing effect. This technique dilutes the overall grayness of the picture, adding to its entertainment.
Thirdly, the ending was good. The last few minutes were a little reminiscent of the last episode of the first season of True Detective with Woody Harelson and Matthew McConaughey.
The film is an hour and a half and it seems that this time is not enough, because too fast and fleeting events develop. There is no zealous alignment (except that we see in the course of the initial credits), here after one disassembly almost immediately follows another, and the main characters too simply and quickly find ways out of the existing difficult situations. It feels like director Chuck Russell tried to concoct a spectacular, spectacular and constantly holding in suspense action movie, but got the output is not quite spectacular, partly spectacular and from time to time keeping in suspense another passing film for once.
Despite this ' I am anger' it turned out to be quite spectacular, moderately bloody, moderately spectacular, moderately dramatic and humorous, not burdened by a mass of special effects, most importantly - with a good and for someone loved actor.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Revenge is a dish that is served cold. And in the cinema of such films, countless are filmed, that such a theme has already been stamped and stamped. But that’s not enough if we have a movie like this. The director here is Chuck Russell, who at one time shot the magnificent “Mask” and a good action movie “The Washer”. And if the first was a masterpiece due to the genius of comedian Jim Carrie, the second was based on the charisma of Schwarzenegger. After that, Rassol did not remove anything sensible and only fell down, thanks to "I am anger", because such a second-rate, cheap and banal film is difficult to imagine.
There is absolutely nothing to say about the plot, because it contains everything you need for this topic: a murdered wife, a husband doing his justice, corrupt policemen, corrupt politicians, dirty and dangerous bandits. And through all this meat grinder goes our hero Stanley Hill. But he is not alone in the field, because he will be covered by a loyal friend or former colleague. After all, we will not be told who Stanley once worked, but he knows how to kill. And he can shift his eyebrows a little, try to express anger and even feel a little sad.
I like John Travolta, but he seems to be like his co-star in Faceless. Cage has stepped onto the dark track of Class B movies. It is unclear what this is connected with, but John already had a similar period, but then he was pulled out by the notorious Tarantino. Now the situation is repeated again, because the last decent film with him came out as much as 6 years ago (I’m about “From Paris with Love”) and there he lit up. John is just doing his part here. Not causing any emotions to his hero, and not feeling the experience, as in principle, and Stanley himself, for whom the murder of his wife is like a reason to once again shoot. Well, at least he has a reason for it, unlike John Wick's idiotic reason.
Yes, there are gunshots here, but everything is shot dry, ordinary and does not cause extravaganza, as well as the finale itself, which is woven from small scenes, as if Russell did not know what scene to finish his picture. But although there may be claims, if the budget by modern standards is small, and the creators themselves understood that this is a second-ranking fighter. Should I watch it? Unless you're a Travolta fan or just tired of blockbusters and want something primitive. And my review will be positive, because "I am anger" is a banal, cheap and boring action movie. In fact, the benchmark.
I didn’t expect anything special from this movie. I decided to watch it because of John Travolta, who likes me as an actor. But he couldn't make that movie. He shook the old days, maybe even got high from this tape, but I did not get pleasure from the film.
This is a very interesting movie. Something like the latest Nicholas Cage movies. It's an '80s action movie. He is a simple guy, grandfather, meets his grandmother, but here’s the bad luck, they are attacked by three some scumbags and kill his loving wife. And the Wall (John Travolta), beaten like a dog, is abandoned and run away. Then it turns out he's the mother of his super-agent, served in the ghost squad and all that. Well, from the title you understand that He will take revenge, become a weapon in the hands of God. It's good that Travolta has a friend from the Squad who has both headquarters and connections, and an arsenal of weapons. Then guess for yourself!
Positive in the film - dynamics, John Travolta and a budget of 18 million, which allowed you to hire good operators and filmmakers editing. I don’t recommend the movie, but at all your will.
p.s. John Travolta should play villains, in this movie he is also not a kind kid, but remember “From Paris with Love”, what a colorful character, what to say about Vincent Vega! At Clayton Base he is unsurpassed!
p.p.s. I think old John will continue to do third-rate films like this. A tramp named Paul, who has nothing to lose, seeks revenge on the bandits who killed his best friend. He's not, just not that.
After watching the trailer for the new action movie I decided to watch it as a lover of the old-school genre. “I Am Wrath” is a classic action movie in the spirit of the 80-90s with all their inherent cliches and script flaws. The plus of this film is John Travolta, who is a good character actor. Travolta is not an action hero, although he has flashed in many action films. Like many of his teammates, such as Kevin Costner, Sean Penn, Pierce Brosnan and of course the coolest of them, Liam Neeson decided to flash the old days and play muscles. To Travolta's credit, he's in great shape for his years and the fight scenes look pretty dynamic, despite a small budget of 18,000, most of which undoubtedly went to the film star's fee.
The plot of this movie is quite simple and not intricate. The main character kills his wife, and the corrupt police release the main suspect. And now the main character, of course, with a serious fighting past decides to take revenge with the help of his friend (Christopher Meloni). And then, as always, all the heroes learn about the conspiracy and reach the end, killing everyone in their path.
This movie is certainly not the best representative of this genre and the level does not reach the fighters with the same Neeson, although it is the fault of the screenwriters. Now I want to say about the pluses, which is the acting of Travolta and his partner played by Meloni. I also want to note that the scenes of fights and shootouts are staged very qualitatively for such a simple product, although I would like more dynamics.
As a result, we get a medium-sized action movie, which is quite possible to pass the evening and a serious application of Travolta to return to the big movie.

Travolta joined other veteran actors like Liam Neeson and Shawn Penn, who had to move slightly on set. The picture of Chuck Russell is certainly far from "Hostage" or its prototypes in terms of entertainment and dynamics, but it can safely be counted as a solo of an experienced actor.
The former director of the plant “Chrysler” flies back home from a work trip, his wife greets with kisses and hugs, but on the way to his car in the parking lot, three scumbags send his beloved to the next world. But it turns out that our protagonist is not an ordinary guy, and decides to administer his justice using long-standing connections and skills.
John Travolta in the film is really good, after a lot of worthless and secondary roles, the actor finally found himself in the position to which he was used many years ago – namely, to pull on his shoulders the whole movie. On this side, the thriller "I am anger" has sympathies, plus, its viewing makes you remember the whole era of militants of the 80s and 90s.
As for the old-school action movie turned out to be satisfactory, but a lot of shortcomings in the script, namely, why the criminals did not kill him, if the motive for their crime was clear, or why they took the personal belongings of the murdered - all these are the shortcomings of the screenwriter. Not the worst movie, but the mainstream is far from heaven.

Recently, Vincent Vega is not often seen in the movies, especially on the big screen. In 2010, a good “From Paris with Love” came out. It is a pity, because such a charismatic actor I want to see on big and small screens as often as possible.
Although this is good - after all, Travolta does not take the example of Trejo, Winnie Jones and the like, who are filmed ten times a year in hellish thrash.
As for the film, I have a double impression. On the one hand, I’m happy about Travolta’s return to the big screen, but on the other hand, the film is much worse than From Paris With Love. And here's why:
The plot of the film is the simplest and most beaten - the main character is killed by his wife, and the police do not care from the high bell tower and therefore he remembers his bright past and goes into all seriousness. Of course, it is sometimes said that simplicity is worse than stealing, but I believe that any idea, even the simplest idea, can be very worthy of implementation.
Here the idea is realized, well, 50-50. And all because - a lot of water, a little fighter. Church philosophy is mixed up – and here the same impressions, because it could be explained only by a tattoo without all other dialogues, etc.
Everything else - the whole action part of the movie - is good. Firefights are dry in some places but fights, although they are not well staged here. Explosions are also at level.
The actors play authentically to the plot - without overplaying and not skittishly. Although the fact is obvious - Travolta with his charisma eclipses everyone.
In my opinion, the film was sometimes protracted dialogue on religious and everyday topics. More gunfights, fights, and a chase — at least one — and the movie would be on the level of “From Paris...” I don’t know where the 18,000 million was? That's at least 18 Raids!
The result is a one-time action movie with a magnificent Travolta.
