What comes from the heart works miracles.
Roxy Hunter is a project of the Nickelodeon Original Movie. Since the late seventies, Nickelodeon has specialized in interesting and interesting content for children. In this sense, a child detective is a win-win option. Especially if his character is such a fearless and funny girl as Roxy Hunter. In addition to the first series about the “attic ghost” and the second about the shaman, there are two more dedicated to the mermaid and vampires, respectively.
This time, our irrepressible friend will unravel the case of the disappearance of a beautiful crystal, which was supposed to decorate the city lighthouse. The good news is that the crystal has been found. Bad - his theft is accused of a local vagabond "shaman". He assures that he did not steal anything, but simply found an object in some dugout in the swamps and brought it to his monastery, where a shamanic ceremony will soon take place. Roxy believes the shaman unconditionally, for she has made friends with him and even become his student. While the girl collects evidence, her mother tries to sort out her feelings for John, and Max acts as a tutor in French for a charming blonde speaker.
At first glance (and this is very similar to the picture with the adventures of Nancy Drew) the case smells of mysticism: again ghosts, shamanistic rituals, a swamp monster ... But Roxy can’t be confused by irrational innuendo, so there’s a logical explanation. Or almost everything.
Although “Secret of the Shaman” is even less intricate than the ghost story, it is even more pleasant to watch it in some way: familiar characters, a familiar town, as if you were away for a short time, and then returned to the cozy Serenity Falls. It's especially gratifying to see Julian Richings: his librarian is a surprisingly enigmatic character. Not without new acquaintances, among which stand out the temporary mayor and Deputy Sheriff named Bull. Meanwhile, the main character, Aria Wallace, in her repertoire: all the same incredible earrings, eclectic costumes and the signature “Ple-e-e-e-e-e-e-ase!”, before which even Pinochet would not resist.
The series about Roxy Hunter, thus, turned out to be smooth and, dare I think, interesting - at least, it should definitely appeal to children who are not indifferent to all sorts of riddles and secrets. This means that the efforts of Elinor Lindo and her team were not in vain. Adults, spoiled by unexpected plot twists and unquenchable intrigue, it is better to turn their eyes towards the directors-heavyweights.
I also liked that the writers rewarded moviegoers for watching an hour and a half film, inserting at the end of the famous phrase from Casablanca - "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." We Nancy Quest Fans know about Easter Eggs!
