It seems to me that for a person from a huge, expanding metropolis, living in a small town is akin to the experience of traveling to another planet. A huge difference. At least that's fair to me. As a child, she loved a series of simple stories about twins “Sweet Valley High”. Then they were replaced by the stories of Ray Bradbury and Stephen King about the boy. And finally, with all my heart I loved Twin Peaks and the story game Life Is Strange.
About “Riverdale” all this time heard as a very simplified interpretation of Lynch’s fantasies, but in reality received a series of bright spectacular clips in which only Lana Del Rey is missing, although the crazy red-haired Cheryl looks like her so much that almost creates the illusion of Lana’s presence.
If you think of the series as a conversational music video without realism and logic, you can really like it. Probably, to some extent, this is the perfect transfer of the grotesque world of comics to the screen.
The main problem in the first season for me was the main characters. An eerie rejection engenders Veronica, a bohemian new student from New York. Her desire to correct seems to be respected, but no. Showy adulthood and flaunting "life experience" cause the opposite effect. Archie, the central character in the comics, is sterile. Neither red hair nor the beautiful voice of the actor save. If he is not in the frame, you instantly forget about his existence.
Betty was pleasantly surprised, initially recalling the overly positive Elizabeth from Sweet Valley High. If it wasn’t based on the comic, I would take the coincidence of names as a direct reference. The serial heroine turned out to be aliveer and deeper than the archetypal “good girl”. This is almost the only person in the completely artificial world of Riverdale. The second plus is the narrator Jughead Jones. It is not so realistic, but at least free of deliberate gloss.
I'm going through the middle of season two. Implausibility is the key. You choke on them and no longer take what is happening not only seriously, but also as a decorative clip.
This is clearly not about the target audience! For teenagers, the smart, interesting and enriching series Switched at Birth was shot. It can be called an encyclopedia of American life in the best sense of the word. He's completely devoid of primitivization. “Riverdale” in the second season, it was swallowed up to a flimsy plot skeleton.
A wonderful unforgettable series after all. A few years ago, I started to watch, it was not childish. Unfortunately, after the 3rd season, everything that happened already went too much into the comic, though. ..well, Riverdale is a film adaptation of it? So all the crazy plot twists and fantasies present can be justified. Of all the seasons, I watched the first three repeatedly. Very cool entourage, actors, music. It's nice to watch it in the winter.
This series has a great "warm" atmosphere. I can’t even recall a more emotional story about teenagers and school life. In recent years, the 80s, lamp series and films on the themes of those years are very popular. It’s like we once had a movie about the 90s, incredibly popular, despite the darkest events of that time. In contrast to such pictures, there are such series. Happiness and great pleasure. Because in the end, the authors of Riverdale still returned to its origins, so to speak. This is one of the best things for me this year.
Yes, after the 3rd season, frank fiction has already begun, and sometimes delusional and inexplicable things. But the finale of the 8th season made me remember all the best to be with the characters during the best first seasons. It is clear that the actors have matured, and the intrigue of the first stories the authors did not pull at all. But damn it, the finale of the series was made so enjoyable, so nostalgic, that I just forgot about the most unfortunate and boring seasons of the last few years. I only remembered the best of Riverdale. The series is uneven, and the same season 8 is too full of unnecessary episodes.
You could leave it within ten and not stretch it. But I think fans of this series can turn a blind eye to such shortcomings. He is far from perfect, not iconic, not cultic, unfortunately. At least for now. But this is one of those projects that has not lost its unique atmosphere and charm. The creators lacked interesting stories, strong storylines for all seasons. Only half of it, in my opinion. I will review them again and again. The rest will be forgotten. But the beginning of this story and its completion, definitely recommend to watch. After the finale, it is a pleasant sadness that I will not see a second such series.
It is a pity that sooner or later everything ends. You can't turn back time. But the best memories of the best of adolescence will last forever.
The series “Riverdale” is a project that is dedicated to the everyday life of schoolchildren. Although, of course, this very life is not quite ordinary, and results in an incredible number of various adventures in the format of one small town, in which literally everyone knows each other. If someone still does not know, then Riverdale is an adaptation of the Archie comic book series, which began to appear in the distant 60s. It may be surprising, but even as a child I had several comics about Archie and his friends, I still remember the approximate content of at least one of them, so many times I read it back then. And for American fans, this is in principle a kind of cultural phenomenon, which in cult coexists somewhere at the level of comics with the same superheroes. I’ve been evaluating this TV series before, it was about the first two or three seasons that came out, which at that time seemed really decent, and in principle they were. And Riverdale was rated very highly, because for some reason there was an incredible amount of stuff that caught my particular attention. “Riverdale” has become, in fact, a kind of teenage fiction, which of course could come to the taste of not every viewer.
The series is primarily dedicated to the same town from the name, as well as its inhabitants. The story here comes not only from the perspective of the same students, but also from their parents. The main acting heroes of the whole story are four heroes, namely the girls Betty and Veronica, as well as the boys Archie and Jughead. The latter, by the way, is also a kind of narrator, whose voice we hear at the beginning of literally every series, as a kind of introduction. Together they will face a huge number of difficulties, find new friends, loved ones and even stop both bloodthirsty maniacs and leaders of a secret cult that spread its influence in Riverdale.
In general, it is worth noting that Riverdale started relatively cheerfully with the first two seasons, which seemed very coherent, consistent and often even intriguing. Alas, but the problems began somewhere in the third season, when the showrunners obviously began to run out of top ideas for their stories. Thus, secret cults appeared in the series, the leaders of which, for some reason, dreamed of flying into space on a homemade “rocket”. It's not humor. And about this level of script “skill” began to haunt the series. It even got to the point that among fans only the lazy did not laugh at some plot moments, which were dumped on the poor viewer a whole bunch in a particular series. Apparently, the creators simply remembered that “Archie comic” had a whole bunch of plot branches, the events of which took place in some parallel realities, where Jughead turns into a werewolf, and Veronica becomes a vampire. Something like this has been very active in the series. And well, it would be a one-off series, but sometimes very strange plots received whole massive arches, and often did not even receive some sane finale.
By the penultimate season, the creators turned a lot of crazy, but eventually there was a “click of Thanos”, which marked the beginning of the final season. And now it has become something like what fans expected from Riverdale. Yes, of course, there was not without naivety, and the same stupidity in the plot, but this all became somehow less, and it was replaced simply by ordinary problems of schoolchildren who dream of meeting their love, finding true friends and just having a cool time. Finally, the creators left the viewer a kind of farewell gift, and managed to reduce all this to some logical finale, which sometimes even manages to squeeze a tear out of his loyal fans. In the final, it was really hard to say goodbye to the Riverdale heroes who have loved you for so many years, you just got used to them, you liked to follow their adventures, even the craziest ones, and you thought, “When this madness ends,” but in your heart you still wanted at least some continuation. And now, the continuation will no longer be, in the history of the town put a fat point, and say goodbye to him still a little sad. Finally, I would like to hope that without exception, all the young actors of this project will receive their recognition and a moment of fame on the expanses of cinema, and we will see many more interesting films with them. For some, my final assessment may seem a little overstated, but it so happened that Riverdale is one of those projects that, despite some ambiguity, I just fell in love with.

First season hooked. The intrigue grew and it seemed that the ending would expose all the secrets of the most respected families of Riverdale. But it was just leaked. The next seasons can be seen in the background. Don't even watch season six. The writers wanted to raise ratings, did not guess and added everything that teenagers love: superheroes, witches, body swapping, travel between worlds, angels and demons, supervillains. Maybe something will shoot. But alas, in the received porridge do not even want to understand.
The main character looks as ridiculous as possible with his staining henna, which does not suit him catastrophically. Archie turned out to be quite faint and memorable, even despite his press cubes, which are so often admired by the girls in the series. But his friend Jahred is of interest. This is probably a great experience of the actor.
Overall, the series is far from reality. It is understandable, counting on teenagers. Therefore, students catch murderers, escape from prison and generally act more effectively than the FBI, sheriff, mayor, etc., who are just on the pick-up of a group of teenagers.
Riverdale is the story of a small American town, told, written and shown. Local sullen schoolboy Jackhead Jones writes the true detective story of Riverdale, after it was a mysterious murder. At the beginning of each series, the voice of Jachead behind the scenes, so to speak, introduces the viewer to the course of things.
The series has both obvious advantages and serious disadvantages. First, the actors are students. Plus, it is either a minus, everyone decides for himself. Students behave very adultly, wise and developed. I think it's more of a minus. On the one hand, the series is pleasant to watch because everything is verified in it: plot twists (although it is primitive to the creepy), close-ups are well shot at the right moments (this is generally “fire” – nothing annoying!), there are even musical scenes when it is necessary to dilute conversations (one of the characters plays the guitar and writes songs, plus there is a group “Pussycats” of three African-American schoolgirls, headed by the mayor’s daughter). Actors in general do not play badly (this is not a typical Russian TV series, where they kiss not even on the cheek, but I'm sorry, they smack past their cheeks in the air!), but imho children very often overplay, giving too many emotions and too lively facial expressions in the frame (although we don't know, maybe the director demanded this from them?). In Riverdale there is no such excitement, constant scandals and forcing of drama as in the Russian TV series (after watching which at least hang yourself, man). Rivadale is looking at the relaxed, over a cup of tea with a croisant. As you read the book, only with a visual side.
All “school children” at the time of filming the first season was 20-25 years old. In some scenes, there was a real sexual attraction between Veronica Lodge and Archie Andrews, apparently the actors really liked each other (there was chemistry between them). But the fact that the beautiful (athlete, Komsomol) Betty Cooper could like a school outsider, an outcast of society and a very depressed antisocial young man Jackhead Jones - I will never believe. It is clear that the plot is so spelled out and the actress just performed her role. But sorry, the realism of the whole action is below the plinth.
The next downside, knowing the specifics of American schools (see other more realistic films about school life in the United States), a guy like Jackhead should have been bullied by other schoolchildren (so to speak, local alphachi), but this is not, not at all, Riverdale school is shown to be absolutely exemplary without hazing. I don't. When Jackhead got to another school, again, he immediately found a common language with the local school squab, which does not fit with the image of the quiet and reclusive, which we were hammered in before. I don't. But in the first season, they did not forget to insert feminism - how local alphachi oppress schoolgirls. It was not without gay same-sex love, kisses M+M, but to the frank scenes of sex it did not come. However, in our time in the West without the theme of same-sex relationships, series are almost not released.
So, the series is very focused on the stories, the family stories of the Blossoms, Coopers, Joneses, Andrews, which are closely intertwined with each other: parents meet each other, then children meet each other, etc. By the way, the fact that the socialite and the wife of a criminal authority could like a simple developer “on the ground” I'll never believe Fred Andrews either. But that’s what the script says, and the characters have to play their roles. Blossoms are shown as a cartoon family of aristocrats with a secret cabinet in which the skeleton. Not original, but spectacular. Cheryl Blossom is not a bitch, not a victim of circumstances, the character is complex, interesting, but again it is, damn it, the heroine from some book or story, that is, you do not feel the realism of what is happening, and this is the main disadvantage of the whole series.
I've only had enough for one season so far. I don’t know if I want to watch the next five. After all, there are so many other more interesting and realistic series that I want to watch.

There is too much pathos and too little common sense.
The series, based on comics, at first tried to be interesting and he succeeded. But then the degree of cheap detective sent to the College of writers CW Dontsova began to skyrocket, and the series showed its true face. Conflicts are sucked out of the finger, the relationships between many characters are fake and fake. The pattern “mystery – consequence – solution” for the first season was very well suited, especially against the background of the first acquaintance with the characters, there was a degree of mystery and mysticism, the viewer experienced, imbued with the fates of the men from the screen, tried to think logically and thought himself over the motives of each character. But only at the beginning, at the stage of the birth and formation of characters, when they were not yet overloaded. And here the main villain is exposed - the series gets a second season, which will exactly repeat the entire plot of the first season, and then the third and fifth. This is where the amusement park called Riverdale begins.
The second season was a dull copy of the first, but so far it’s pretty watchable. The third season is a progressive cash cow of the first two with an unclear morality, but the main topic still stands out, and the detective component holds at least some interest. The fourth season immediately began with a tragedy - the death of one central actor and a talented person in general, the season was urgently reshooted and twisted out as they could, having managed to get out of the situation, killing his character. The death of this actor seemed to mark the complete death of the Riverdale franchise from the very beginning of the new season - the series is no longer about teenagers who solve crimes like little Sherlocks and along the way understand life and relationships. Now this is a story about the dirty laundry of every citizen of the city, more like House-2.
The actors play medium, plot branches coming from the root at the beginning of the story and going like straight, intertwined as a result in a winding grapevine, the picture is beautiful and mystical. But history has simply outlived itself. And if Archie's or The Simpsons' comics don't feel that way, then the serial format doesn't fit that story. The creators could have followed the path of American Horror Story, making an anthology of the adventures of friends, but lost their choice.
As a result, the first season can be watched if you ignore the political garbage nested for the tick.
Quality scripting is always an art. Especially when there is a non-standard task, for example, to modernize the old characters of comics, which have a certain cultural imprint of the previous era. Moreover, another important fact is added to the writers’ problems. A grim story of psychological breakdowns, murders, and brutality needs to be told to a teenage audience that fears even too bloody scenes. So Riverdale is an incredibly interesting example of creative work for me.
We are greeted by a young writer, Jughead Jones, who is closely studying the portrait of his hometown. Family intrigues that are silenced at the dinner table. Good parents who tortured progressive youth. Alcoholic parties, hard-cover romances, fleeting love affairs, hate sprouts that spawn murder. Then a brilliant four enters the case: young talent Jughead Jones, cute Veronica Lodge, a girl with a ponytail Betty Cooper and a kind little Archie Andrews, who are taken to investigate a mysterious murder. The situation is complicated by the fact that representatives of the younger generation are pressured by their families, who did not share power in the town. For example, behind Veronica Lodge is her rich father, ready to do anything for the welfare of his family.
Through the dramaturgical fabric, a grotesque image of comic book characters is made, supported by logical explanations. For example, one of the heroines Cheryl Blossom has an unstable temperament with frequent mood changes. When a girl is in joyful well-being, she is almost quiet and serene. When she gets hurt, Cheryl tries to destroy everything she sees. Despite this duality, its behavior can be logically justified at any moment. But honestly, I love Betty Cooper the most. In her actions, there are complexes and brokenness that appeared because of her overbearing mother. Betty was ready to paint herself the image ' cute neighbor' but the tragedy did not break her. Each hero is sent trials that he must survive. Friendly Archie Andrews is constantly deceived and trusted. Jughead Jones is prevented from settling in a volatile world and left alone. Veronica Lodge is always manipulated by people close to her. Betty Cooper suffers for the sins of her parents and other relatives.
It so happened that in this adaptation of comics there were unusual villains, a multifaceted city with stunning heroes. But the longer the narrative lasted, the problems raised became superficial, the narrative became noticeably stupid. Characters without clear characters appeared, events began to resemble crazy nonsense. In the dullness of one-day melodramas wedged nasty stories about drugs, prostitutes, the production of films for adults. I have nothing against a non-standard story about modern society, but presented in the series it is disgusting and disgusting. The once touching and rather naive series turned into an endless vulgar and vulgar action without a clear plot, understandable development of the characters. By the current fifth season, there is nothing new left, only a repetition of the same conflicts, parody of old scenes. The only character left who pulls out the environment is Jughead Jones.
That’s how an amazing series, which helped young viewers to realize their place in the world, turned into a monotonous and mediocre melodrama. I fell in love with the characters of this show, I can’t bear to see what the endless ideas of the writers do to them. I will always remember this town. . .
I really liked the first season of the series - stupid, but charismatic teenage heroes, a cozy atmosphere of a small town, an interesting detective intrigue ... It was a great youth thriller in the spirit of the first two seasons of the series "Scream". But what happened next left me in permanent shock.
Starting with season 2, the series began to turn into an absurd cabbage, which I could not look at without crying with laughter. With each new episode of Season 2, the number of moments when my hand clinged to my face with Spanish shame, and I myself laughed at the stupidity and absurdity of the script, grew exponentially.
Judge for yourself. There is a monastery in the forests where gays are re-educated into straights. A villain-businessman tries to seize the town, with the help of narcotic powder, which reverberates schoolchildren in the school cafeteria, the provincial town of Riverdale itself sometimes amazes with skyscrapers flashing in it, parents save children by sending them to a psychiatric hospital, after a group beating on the face of one of the heroes, only a couple of abrasions loom ... There are long-separated twin relatives, evil doubles, everyone cheats on each other, jealous of each other. This and more awaits you in season 2 and 3.
Structurally, the whole series is an almost chaotic mixture of plots of various TV series and films, and even playing out individual scenes from them (!) - "Scream", "Twin Peaks", "Stranger Things", "Desperate Housewives", "American Horror Story", "The City That Feared the Sunset", "Gotham", "Escape from Shawshank", "Fast and Furious", "Romeo and Juliet", "Mysterious Forest", "Hunger Games", "Terest Materials", "Teres" and many others. A mixture seasoned with pathos, youthful maximalism and actualism – LGBT, feminism and cultural Marxism. And all this is served as a teenage detective with the atmosphere and entourage of youth comedies from the Disney and Nickelodeon channels. The police seemed to be in the future from the 70s of the twentieth century, as they are dressed in clothes from the set of the series Gotham! A lot of scenery and props are also taken from Stranger Things and The Walking Dead, and this is noticeable to the naked eye.
This series is like a remake of all the TV series and films of the last 10 years at once!
It’s hard to imagine what will happen in season 4, and especially season 5. Probably, aliens will arrive, or Dominic Torreto will visit the town with his “family”.
The series won the People's Choice Award ("People Choice Awards) - adult American television viewers named it the best series of 2020. What is it, what is it?
I will definitely recommend this series. You will not get so much laughter from any work of art, comedian or plant-based substance, which is beyond doubt the main source of inspiration for the creators of the 2nd and subsequent seasons of the wonderful youth adventure series Riverdale.
Riverdale is for one terrible and for one beautiful movie!
1. Foreword
Hello there! I decided to do this thing that I've been thinking about for so long - I'm going to write my first review! Choosing what to write the review, I had a hard time, because I watched a lot of movies and TV shows, but in the end, I chose a teenage series – Riverdale.
I watched it from beginning to end, from the mysterious death of Jason Blossom to the firing of Director Hannie. This moment will make it easier for me to write a review, because it is better to know everything, and write qualitatively, than to know nothing, and ultimately write a biased and non-subjective opinion. Anyway, I am the first option.
Enjoy reading my review!
2. Description
The series will tell about the life and adventures of the cheerful and never despondent teenager Archie Andrews, as well as Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge and their friends from Riverdale. The action takes place in the modern world, and the main characters decide to explore the hidden side of the life of a small peaceful town with all its oddities and dark secrets hiding behind the festive facade.
3. Story holes and cliché.
The series - "Riverdale" by and large gets out of the vat filled with dirt, only because of the reception - cliffhanger. Cliffhae’nger is an artistic device in the creation of a storyline, during which the hero is faced with a complex dilemma or the consequences of his or her own or someone else’s actions, but at this point the narrative ends, thus leaving the ending open until the sequel appears. Anyone who has watched Riverdale fully knows that such moments in the series are full.
What you can not praise in the plot is the holes in the plot and cliche.
Holes in the plot - the concept of a "hole in the plot" is present here in abundance. Of course, the unprepared viewer will see such errors - it will be difficult, but to a greater extent - there are many and they are.
For example, consider the moment with the father of Betty Cooper. As few people know, Harold Cooper was a serial killer throughout the second season. Declassified him by error in the attempted murder of "Sherryl Blossom", which in turn was able to get into the left shoulder of the "Black Helmet", which left a wound in the left shoulder of Hel, which has already noticed Betty.
Well, closer to the point. During the close-up shot at Freddy Andrus, we were shown the eyes of Black Helmet, they were green, but Hel had blue eyes in the previous season and throughout the second, which led the audience to a dead end.
It seems that no one hinted or even told about the fact that he wore colored lenses, but in the moments when “Harold Cooper” was reincarnated in “Black Helmet”, the eyes of the character were always changing, blue and green. This error suggests that the writer sincerely did not care about such small details, instead, the writer wrote a third season, which was worse than the previous two.
There are many other similar plot holes in the series, for example, the age of the father of Jughead Jones, FP Jones. In one of the episodes of this series, the main characters of the series, decided to celebrate the birthday of "FP Jones", at the time of this birthday, he turned 50 years old, which in fact could not happen.
Why do you ask? – because he graduated from 1990, which means he was only 17-18 years old at the time of graduation, which creates a ridiculous plot hole, because FP was supposed to be 46-47 years old. (At the time of this episode, it was 2019.) This miscalculation fully proves that the writers either smoked something, or developed an obsession with the small details of their own field. Maybe directors, writers and producers are impressed by the fact that they are engaged in all sorts of nonsense, starting with small miscalculations in the plot, ending with such obvious things. But you know, this is just the beginning. The series also has a problem with the plot itself.
Let’s take a moment with the main characters. Here all the main characters are good in their own way, but these talents are too supernatural, don't you think? For example, Betty, she positions herself as a great detective, but if you think a little, you can conclude that Betty is too good in the field of detective, because how can you solve crimes through the whip of professional detectives? All right, if she thought like a detective and showed her genius by her actions, but again, NO! She somehow, without any problems, solves 6 crimes that are impossible to solve without experience.
This aspect fully reveals the kringe of this series. The main characters are as always the strongest, and the villains carry out 2-3 successful crimes, after which they are exposed by a group of not very smart teenagers.
Again, if the characters in this series had the same genius as Hans Landa of Inglourious Bastards, or Sherlock Holmes from two Guy Ritchie films about the adventures of a detective, then everything else could be written off as accidents and conventions, but in this series there is a huge amount of conventions and accidents. So I'm convinced that the plot here is not entirely bad, but there are holes and kringe here in bulk.
4. A peculiar beauty and attractiveness.
As I said before, in the series, there are a lot of moments with the reception - a cliffhanger who somehow saves this series. But for me, there is a kind of icing in this series that makes everything and makes you watch this series. Most likely, this is due to a not intricate and rather gloomy plot, where there is both action and detective, because teenagers do not like to consider intricate and heavy films like Obsession, Argument and Interstellar. The first film on the list implies heavy drama, and the other two - as a difficult dilemma.
For me, the series was not the worst, and I even found some sympathy for it. Again, it's most likely due to the uncomplicatedness, and pace of the story of a group of teenagers. You empathize with them from time to time, but sometimes you catch facepalm from the delusions and stupidity of actions. The title speaks for itself - a film for one terrible and one beautiful!
5. Conclusion
Riverdale is not a very good, but a catchy teenage detective. Yes, many actions can be unfounded, and frankly stupid, because teenagers can behave delusionally and stupidly, but they are teenagers. Of course, I have not forgotten the supernatural characters, conventions, delusions, unfounded Satanism and stupid villains.
I want to conclude by saying that I recommend watching the series itself, but I warn you that the series is not as brilliant as Sherlock, it is simply not an intricate detective that can be seen in the company of friends or the other half.
I started watching the series on a tip from a friend. 'He's a programmer, read. I don’t think it’s bad 39, I thought. But after watching three episodes, I was ready to take my words back. Kringe. It was this foreign word that could describe most of the dialogues of the main characters - the teenagers of Riverdale. The same could be said of Lily playing Betty Cooper. Outlandish, exaggerated, awkward. Do not quit the series in the first season helped in time began the line of relations Jughead - Betty. Gradually, the characters were revealed, it is especially interesting to watch the scenes with the participation of parents.
The pluses.
1) The series is very tasty picture and no less tasty locations. One cafe Pop's what it costs.
2) The atmosphere of a small mystical town in the States and teenagers hanging out in it is transmitted magnificently
2) Cole Sprouse
Of the minuses.
1) Because of the dialogue, it is sometimes embarrassing.
2) Playing detective sometimes goes overboard and the plot says 'bye'
Riverdale is un-porn with elements of detective and tragedy. The story of four teenagers who decide to play detective, simultaneously creating problems for themselves, and suffering from them. To call the series a full-fledged drama - the language does not turn, because the maximum it is capable of - to squeeze the resentment of one character on another, due to the fact that he, in turn, looked obliquely at the random beauty. Realism is amazing. No matter what happens, they are still alive. The cast is generally considered ideal. I just have one question, what do you think of the stage? Look at Baklan, it looks like a sex machine, even though the plot is a complete loser. That's it! And in general, the whole class looks just like mine - also some models and pitches sit.
As a result, I advise those to whom mother forbids watching something erotic, and hormones are naughty. You can watch eroticism under the mask of a detective, and even with first-class models. I'm done. Have a good day.
Watched on duty popular teenage TV series 'Riverdale'. I'll start with criticism. The excellent and famously twisted plot of the first and second seasons was replaced by a protracted, illogical and confusing one in the third season, came to life and became dynamic in the fourth season, but in the last few episodes, after the denouement, which was illogically put not at the end, clearly stalled, and because of the reduction of the series broke down, not reaching the end. The anti-religious criticism has gone awry. First, a closed convent, where they secretly hand over difficult teenagers and ' reeducate' unconventionally oriented, which turned out to be in addition a drug den and a sect of almost devil-worshippers (to smooth out the strangeness of the design, at the end, the scriptwriters twisted that this monastery went into schism after the Second Vatican Council). Then (and in parallel) a sect with savage rites, which zombified almost all the heroes, targeted their property and even their organs to use for the wife of the founder of the sect. And all this against the background of sinister role-playing. By the end, the screenwriters more or less made ends meet, but the image of believers, frankly, turned out not to be too deep, in the spirit of agitations of the 1920s.
Here's what's good. As mentioned, a great detective story of the first and second seasons. Respect for tradition and the ability to learn from it - roll-calls with ' Twin Peaks' and the Lynch school are made quite openly. The idea of storytelling as a novel written by one of the main characters. The good vocal parts of most of the characters and the obvious pleasure of working with the music that actors and directors get. A number of excellent works by both teenagers and adults.
In terms of content. The dark and light sides are shown in each main character - and this is against the backdrop of a small prosperous town, gradually opening its beastly rock (a typical American neurosis). Excellent and multifaceted relationship of teenagers among themselves and with parents. Same-sex relationships, which is not common in modern products, are generally artistically justified, rather than being shown obtrusively and out of topic. Another important point: men and women, both young and older, are shown to be equally strong and interesting personalities. Perhaps so many strong people per square meter is a bit implausible, but it’s nice to watch. Teenagers themselves are portrayed not as lost and inert children who see nothing but their gadgets, but as active and courageous people who may well make decisions and act. Finally, the social problems, the hostility of groups and the atmosphere of elite schools are shown, but perhaps there is a lack of sharpness, which is present, for example, in ' Sex education.
In general, the series is very good.
If you evaluate the first season, it is a solid 5. It's a very stylistic picture, I love these things. Original characters. What I like wildly is not a typical stamped series, it really has a zest (was at the time when I watched it). But... Again they began to pull rubber and lost all desire to look further.
It was one of the first youth series I sat down to watch because I read a lot about the upcoming premiere on the Internet and was seriously interested in what was to unfold on the screen. Luckily, my parents had already signed up for Netflix, so I didn’t have to wait too long for the new series to come out. Even more joyous was the fact that Netflix took care of Russian-speaking viewers and made a translation into our native language.
The first season is amazing: I was very happy to include all the new series and did not break away from the screen even to drink or eat – so much I liked everything, so much for me this teenage detective with charming actors (including Cole Sprouse) was exciting.
But it ended, and before the release of the second was still a long time, so I temporarily “stepped aside”: the old series did not revise, new ones have not yet appeared. And in the time that I had to wait for the second season, I had time to cool down to Riverdale and analyze whether I really like it so much. It turned out not to be very good.
The second season I watched much less willingly than the first, and no longer so imbued with the plot. It seemed to me and still seems that the series outlived itself in the first season and then it was literally sucked out of the finger.
In the middle of the second season, I stopped: I had more important things to do than the once beloved and anticipated series. I never started the third. I only found out about the fourth one today.
I’m not saying that Riverdale is a bad or boring series. Perhaps if I continued to enjoy watching how the love relationship develops between the four best friends and how they investigate strange cases, which for some reason the police do not care, I would continue watching.
But qualitatively shot and the picture is appropriate, even there is a development of the plot and kind of worked out the main characters, gradually they are revealed.
Quite an exciting series!!! Thanks to the actors and the entire crew! Enough enticing series!!! Thanks to the actors and the entire crew!
I can only give this series the highest possible rating!!! Because it's not enough just to hook me. And especially lead to a long viewing of the series. But in this case, I am excited to watch each episode and look forward to the release of new ones. The reason for this was:
1) Excellent acting - not overplayed to the state of perfection, quite vital and realistic. There are times when I wanted to shoot myself, but they will remain a dark secret in my head. Previously, she knew about the actor Cole Sprouse, now I study his films and photographs with interest. The guy is a great actor and not only an actor but also a photographer.
2) It is not a long and unspoiled theme for all seasons. Let the meaning of the whole picture is general, but with each series and with each moment there are more and more new situations, and you think how they will cope here and what will happen next.
(3) There is no favorite "and they all lived happily ever after" - there are moments and sad endings and joyful victories. Everything harmonizes with each other.
I am very grateful to all the actors of the series for their work and effort. Believe me guys, it’s worth it, it’s nice to see you on the screen.
Directors, writers, producers and the entire film crew RESPECT YOU GUYS!!!
I am looking forward to more exciting scenes! With respect to your viewer Anastasia!

When I sat down to watch this series for the first time, I could not stand the first 3 episodes. Everything looked kind of lifeless and boring. What prompted me to watch the series further was Cheryl and Tony. There are not many TV shows with lesbians in the lead role.
Riverdale is a creation aimed only at teenagers. The main characters, looking like models who are engaged in a detective investigation, while angry adults are trying to interfere with them in every possible way, love intrigues, a pinch of Santa Barbara, bikers, the mafia, leaving the house after a day off. (Watching students bend the mafia is insanely hilarious.) I would not call this series (as some here write) “for girls” because the presence of “cool” bikers here I can say that he wants to capture the audience of boys.
Here everything is done at a fairly average level: there is no acting, no original musical accompaniment or unusual camera decisions. The detective lines are either too predictable or end in an unexpected twist that audiences could not have thought of because there was no hint of such an answer (for example, who ended up being the black hood and the king of the gargoyles). What happened in one episode will almost certainly be forgotten in the next. Color correction using only cold shades also causes despondency and boredom, preventing you from becoming interested in what is happening. In Gotham, too, most of the series are quite absurd and punched to laugh, but there the gloomy color correction works in favor of the series, and here only awakens the desire to twist the brightness of the screen to the maximum.
And the worst – unwritten, stereotyped to the outrageous heroes. In Season 1, most of the characters seemed to me very apathetic, their reaction to what is happening looks like it is not happening to them, but to the characters of a novel that they read, but which does not capture them. For example, when they argue, they are supposed to be overwhelmed with emotions, but the faces are also stone expression, and they are about to fall asleep. Their characters leave much to be desired. Betty is correct and modest to irritation, Veronica’s coolness only makes you laugh and roll your eyes. Kevin is gay and the son of a sheriff, nothing more to say about them. Cheryl acts like she's bipolar (or maybe the writers are), which wouldn't be surprising given the hell she grew up in.
Virtually no one, except Jughead, is clinging. His family drama in Season 1 over an alcoholic father and a member of a biker gang was the most authentic of all. There were no angry, unbalanced parents (like Betty and Cheryl) whose reasons don’t explain why they look sadistic. However, since the second season, he lost his type of strange, lonely boy and ceased to be interesting. His place was taken by Betty, who since season 1 has acquired a character and had a less decent family drama. Also great heroes are Archie's parents (who are also the best actors in the series): they are alive, they have clear characters and their actions of decent and strong people stand out from the rest of the circus. The moment from season 2, when Mary Andrews made Archie shut up and stop talking nonsense about the posh plans of the Lodges, was great.
I would call Archie Andrews the worst hero. He's a spineless idiot whose actions lack logic. First, a pedophile teacher makes him his dog, then the Lodge family does the same thing when he is led to stories about the beautiful future of their town. The funny thing is, he'll later be called the only one who went against the Lodges, well, yeah. By season 3, the creators apparently realized that Archie was not needed in the narrative, and therefore sent him away.
The most depressing were the musical episodes. Why was the Losers series so popular, where 6-8 songs were performed in each episode? All the characters of the series were bright and had hypertrophied images, because of which they crashed into our consciousness, we loved them, hated them, supported them, which is why it was interesting to watch their showdowns, constantly interrupted by musical retreat. Here a bunch of undescript and boring heroes sings in inconspicuous and boring voices, which is not exciting.
I didn't like the romanticization of biker gangs. It looks ridiculous. Gangs consisting of high school students (including girls) who fight against the sale of drugs and lead a very standard lifestyle. Really? In reality, bikers are immoral racists and chauvinists who live by primitive laws, and their main income is from the sale of drugs and weapons. And yes, you can't get into a gang that easily, and you can only get out with a bullet in your forehead. Well, at least the creators showed how dangerous sects can be, and they could be presented as a harmless option for lonely teenagers.
As a result, I will say that the series copes with its task of a relaxed, pathetic project for teenagers with intrigue, love interweaving and youthful maximalism. It's just not for me.
I’m 17 years old and I got the idea to diversify my evening movie views with an interesting and exciting series. I climbed on YouTube, and in the selection of series for teenagers found this work. Three days later, I watched the first season, scored 4/10 and wrote this screenplay.
Minuses:
1. As no matter how this series for teenagers and all the relationships of medgu should be on the exciting topics of this social group. And from here looms the first and main disadvantage of this series, which I felt from the first series. This series is not for teenagers, but for little girls who for life images can forgive any sins. The guy will get bored on the 2nd series.
2. Actors play. I have watched a lot of high-quality films and therefore I can say that the emotions that the characters give out at certain tragic moments are children’s shrimp. The only actor I liked in this category is COLE SPROUS. His phone conversation with his mother and his emotions at that moment managed to touch me.
3. This paragraph cannot apply to every viewer of this series, but for me it was a minus. “Skillful plot twists” for me were as predictable and boring as possible. There were only a few moments when I didn’t think of the ending of the episode.
Pluses:
1. In this picture there are many advantages, but in essence they are so small that it is pointless to single them out in a separate group. This series will convey to the viewer morality, he will tell you what friendship is, but it is funny that anyone, by the age of 16-17, will already be familiar with these basics of morality through the banal upbringing of parents. So what I liked, and what I decided to attribute to the plus, is COLE SPROUS and the author’s way of narrating. As I wrote above, after the 2nd series I want to turn it off, because you know who this series is made for, but personally I was very interested to follow the narrative through the novel, which was written by the character “Baclan”. This was the only thing that kept me from turning off the series.
This is not a bad series, there is worse, but it does not pull on a focused viewing. You can watch it if you have free verma and skip 10 seconds using the numpud arrow (as I did).
The series 'Riverdale' is one of the most popular modern series among teenagers from 10 to 18 years old.
Perfectly selected cast, interesting plot, fascinating atmosphere and beautiful music, which together create a pleasant impression about the series.
1 season, as in any series - the most interesting. Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead are friends who don’t sit still, friends who (not) look for adventure on their head, helping this city to start living peacefully. Impressive stories of the characters, the extraordinary murder of Jason Blossom and the mystery of who killed him are kept in suspense throughout the season. The ending, of course, is not obvious.
2 season is not as interesting as 1, but the plot is still interesting. In the city there is a mysterious killer - the Black Hood, who wants to cleanse the city of sinners Who is he this - the Black Hood? Ironically, the best friends in Riverdale are again investigating and as always the outcome is absolutely unpredictable!
In 2018 came out Season 3 This is a real grit! Unusually exciting series, completely unpredictable plot. I want to watch every episode again and again! King Gargoyle, a childhood game parents vowed to forget and never remember reappears in their lives and captures their children.
Man in Black, Jingle Jungle, Griffins and Gargoyles. ..
In 2019, they officially announced the creation of season 4, I hope that it will be no worse than the previous ones.
9/10
Riverdale is the epitome of an overloaded plot. But this has its advantages, every season pursues its goals and not always they succeed.
In the center of the plot, a large number of main characters who will be from series to series will prevail, then vice versa. If you evaluate the heroes, they are all unique. The story begins with the mysterious murder of Jason. Together, they begin their own investigation. And who knows how many terrible secrets await them?
First on the list of oddities is Betty. At first glance, a modest and innocent girl, but she also has a dark side. She'll act like a detective. Thanks to her mother's profession, she will be the first to learn new information. But what is the pain behind the angelic face? This viewer will know after watching the first series. But for me, Betty will always be Betty. Loyal, loving, she will reveal more than one secret of this town.
Next, I want to note the handsome school Archie, killed or dead guy Jason was his friend. They had the same status at school and similar interests. Jason’s death was a shock to him, but nothing can be fixed just by living. He's a fighter by nature and without a fight, he won't just give up. Red-haired, athletic, Betty's first love. Hobby, which is playing guitar and singing. During all seasons, he will change the most and in my opinion, not for the better.
I have the most negative opinion of Veronica. A spoiled, sometimes arrogant young girl. She moved from the metropolis because of her father's problems. She begins to join the group, becoming Betty’s best friend and having feelings for Archie. But her past problems haunt her, not allowing her to live calmly, and a spoiled temper simply does not allow her to think sanely. The most selfish character, very much bored with his eternal claims and troubles.
Of course, I don’t forget Judhead, a poor guy living in troubled conditions, tired of his vicious circle. The difficult relationship between father and mother leads to the breakdown of the family. His only ray of light is writing articles and love. In these two things he drowns with his head, but the vicious circle constantly returns him to a terrible reality.
And the main star and bright flame of Riverdale is Cheryl, a girl who lost her own man, her brother Jason. The fire star of the school is perfect in everything, appearance, study, sports, guys. Everything is given to her easily, but few people know what is happening outside the walls of her huge mansion. What pain is she hiding in her room waiting to be rescued?
All the characters are interesting to know, as well as minors who appear briefly. The parents of the main characters is a separate story, a web of secrets that the viewer will also unravel. I advise everyone who is ready to rub their nerves in anticipation of the outcome.

Our story of the city. Small town. And the people who live there.
When I was absorbed by the series, I was not immediately able to understand what is in it that makes you watch it from series to series, and then look forward to a new one.
I think I like TV shows about teenagers. I guess I like enticing stories with secrets. I probably like to watch beautiful actors on the screen.
But if you think a little more, Riverdale conquers with its picture, atmosphere, heroes and some special aesthetic.
Riverdale is beyond space and time. No one will tell where Sweetwater is. It will only be said that it is a small town, similar to other American towns, where there is a school, a famous cafe, teenagers living next door. Such a quintessence of American towns with a calm and measured life. No one will tell you in what time the heroes live: they seem to have Macbooks, and Instagram use, but at the same time to arrange a race to two different gangs on retro cars or open an underground bar is very elegant.
The picture is created exquisitely and with taste, ranging from the choice of locations and ending with the selected cast. The very first frames - Sweetwater, twins Blossom come out of the convertible - from this moment the picture is fascinating.
The fact that the series is a kind of adaptation of famous comics I learned only after, so it was easier for me: I did not have to make associations or upset that the famous Jughead in the series was not asexual at all, and the most famous love triangle somehow quickly resolved itself.
Each season has its own specific genre: this is an investigation of a mystical murder, then a thriller-like plot with a maniac appearing in the city, then a story about a cult.
The first season is fascinating: there is a mystery, and the classic teenagers who manage to do homework, and at the same time also solve crimes. With each episode, it gets more confusing, new storylines appear, and then the denouement, which you may already suspect, but it still amazes you. And the first season, of course, fascinates the characters, when you have time to know them and love them for real, each in a special way.
The second season against the background of the first seems quite different: screen time has increased, and with it problems have become more, and teenage carelessness less. Betty, Jughead come to the fore, new heroes appear, who are given considerable attention. But the same aesthetic remains in each picture, just imagine (or better see for yourself): two gangs going to race cars on a deserted track and crazy beautiful red-haired Cheryl, giving the go-ahead to start.
The third season seems to have forgotten that the main characters are still schoolchildren, but how can you not forget when so much scriptwriters come up with to blame on their shoulders? It seems that with the third season, a little overdone, very now teenagers do not look like teenagers. But the picture is still stunning: Betty and Kevin, dissecting on a motorcycle – it’s very organic.
In addition to the picture, by the way, there is also a beautiful soundtrack, which then you want to listen to the mind.
And besides, the cast turned out to be very musical: here and KJ Apa, playing the guitar (although, by the second season forgot about his passion), and Ashley Murray, conquering with her voice, and Camila Mendes, too, often diluting the series or two with her vocals. And what a revelation by the middle of Season 2 was Lily Reinhart's voice, and how sorry she's been allowed to perform so rarely. With such a set of talents, it is obvious why the directors wanted to make musical episodes that seem alien to the narrative of the series, but ultimately fit into it very well.
Harmonious look and young actors who did not have time by the time of the start of filming of the pilot episode, to become famous for big roles, the exception is Cole Sprouse, in which you barely recognize the funny twin Cody, who used to often spin on the Disney channel. It seems that each of them is in its place:
Lily Reinhart is the perfect Betty - "girl next door", in love at the beginning of the series with her best friend and kind of perfect, but with such a large baggage of her personal skeletons in the closet, which is not immediately known. By season 2, she becomes the central character, she is very interesting to watch: her relationships, family drama, her strength of spirit and sincerity.
Cole Sprouse as Forsythe Pendleton Jones III, or just Jughead, Jugga, Juggy. Riverdale's storyteller, his voiceover. It reveals how the quiet American city has become far from calm. His character is interesting to watch: in season 1, he is the same “wierdo” – a socially hostile, young and in love writer; in 2 he becomes more withdrawn, hot-tempered, sometimes cruel; in 3 – he begins to open up as a leader, brave, confident, analyzing his mistakes. His character reveals a whole heap of problems: class status, attempts to escape the lifestyle of his family, resistance to the city. In my opinion, Jughead, along with Betty, turns out to be the most interesting character in the series. From the comic Jughead, he, by the way, has the famous crown, turned into a hat, T-shirts with the letter “S” and love of food.
KJ Apa as Archie, the main character of the comics, after whom they are named. For me, Archie's character is a bit of a disappointment. He's trying to be a hero, to save everyone. In Season 1, he looks for himself with the inherent teenage naivety of being a musician or becoming a footballer. In 2, he forgets about his hobbies, but still tries to save everyone around him, making a lot of mistakes, trusting those who are not worth it. In Season 3, he becomes an outsider, a stranger, exiled, and blames himself for what happened. It seems interesting to watch his changes, but at some point his character begins to look boring.
Camila Mendes as Veronica, the daughter of wealthy parents who moved from New York and decided to abandon her previously earned status as a bitch. Exquisite, brave, knowing what she wants. She also changes a lot, especially with the appearance of her father in the series, from which she is trying to achieve independence.
In addition to the main four in the series, there are a number of other young characters who, unfortunately, are often given much less time than I would like. Especially memorable are Cheryl Blossom performed by Madeline Petsch (well, what a red-haired beauty!) and Kevin Keller performed by Casey Cotta (ideal gay friend).
The adult cast is also very good, and the creators chose the roles of parents-children very well. And for the development of the storylines of adult characters to watch no less interesting.
8 out of 10
The imperfect 10 is only because they sometimes forget that the characters are still teenagers and do not develop all the characters sufficiently.
It is recommended to watch, especially if you like stories about teenagers with a beautiful picture and a divine soundtrack.
I'm sure you'll want to try a milkshake at Pop's soon!
Riverdale is a space without special marks, a stencil city, a black and white outline from all small cities of America, where significant places are inscribed with colored three-dimensional colors – a school, a cafe, a trailer park – a standard scene for future dramatic events. Riverdale was a backwater where local football star Jason Blossom was killed. The investigation into this death ruthlessly exposed the dirty secrets of the noble families of the city, at the same time redrawing their composition, and the initiators of the investigation were at the center of this story. Good guy Archie Andrews, the last knight without fear and reproach, straight as a bat; his charming neighbor Betty Cooper, touching outwardly blonde with a whole brood of internal cockroaches; Veronica Lodge, new to school and town, greyhound daughter of a murky dad Cheryl Blossom, the inconsolable sister of the deceased guy, a box with a secret, whether poison ivy, or an innocent flower; and Jughead "Baclan" Jones, a local freak, part-time school genius, part-time chronicler of this story. There are many types, their images, more or less battered, more or less unambiguous, elusively change from the first series, gaining depth, versatility and - it is terrible to say - attractiveness in the eyes of the viewer.
Of course, Riverdale is first the country-producer, and only then the intrigue-scandals-investigations, because the question “Are you ok?” the average American even on the verge of death will answer “I'm fine”. It is natural for young star-striped TV series to ask, "Did you kill Jason?" and expect to get a truthful answer. Honesty on global issues, elevated to the absolute, seems childishly naive and unrealistic, but cannot but inspire respect, and the end of the first season looks almost natural and achievable. That does not prevent you from simply lying “hike” – in the name of the main goal, to protect loved ones or from fear. In the best traditions of Santa Barbara, one crime is followed by another, a maniac is formed in 3 Riverdale pine trees, mafia clans are slowly looming, the FBI is connected to the case, and in the end everything depends on money - and of course, none of these events can do without a bunch of senior schoolchildren who understand everything just brilliantly - in the break between finding out who is a friend, who is loved, and who has not yet decided. Perhaps this is also a feature of Riverdale - that there are no permanent counterparties, someone will become a friend, someone a corpse, and not in a year, but within the next 42 minutes.
Life in Riverdale flows quickly, priorities change rapidly, and the viewer slowly but steadily imbues with the worldview of this city, grows into this world, along with a camera that equally lovingly captures both Cheryl's contemptuous mine and Jughead's rare, but no less dazzling smile. The creators of the series easily shuffle a deck with characters, pushing forward some and darkening others, diluting the impeccability of “heroes” with flaws, and “villains” unexpectedly adding humanity. An exemplaryly positive Archie lies to the face, Veronica easily outgrows the familiar glamour, and the brittle Betty reveals the steely traits of a leader - of course, from the best of intentions. Personal interests get in the way of debt, petty grievances lead to big trouble - by the end of the second season, the story tightens the screws even tighter. And even if the isolated world of Riverdale is still devoid of true authenticity, emasculated and straightforward, it will not be denied the drama and involvement in the story, the continuation of which you expect with pleasure.
Riverdale is one of the popular series, which managed to get out of the crowd, despite obvious borrowings from other, once successful films. Although based on Archie comics, it has very little with a drawn source. Nothing but characters. The main problem of Riverdale is that he tries to sit on several chairs, drawing and absorbing completely different genres. Any luck? Not really. It should be noted that this is a teenage drama. Now say it again, teenage. It is clear that immediately come to mind associations with school, first love, disappointment and the rest of the everyday husk, which is inflated to a huge size. And rightly so, but here the world is not locked up in school, which is a good thing. However, the leading genres: detective, romance and drama. Nearby there is humor, melodrama and a detective with an attempt at horror. I mean, what's left of the comic? Not much. But more details.
The first season is the death of a student. A handsome, rich and incredibly popular guy drowns in a river, and later his body is found on the shore with a hole in his head. Slightly next to this story is a sub-plot about the forbidden love between a teacher and a student, and about a new mysterious twosome who arrived straight from the big city to a small town for not very good reasons. More, but almost everything makes sense.
Archie, the main character, is also the main guy in the village. The actor plays it well, quite natural that can not help but annoy. The problem is that Archie's type is quite annoying in itself. He is soft, kind, indecisive and spineless, but girls fly on a young football player - a musician, like flies on honey. He's just pretty and that word perfectly describes him as a character. If in the comic, his love throwing makes you roll your eyes, then in the series you involuntarily think that you will take this character to the background or at all, then will much change? Not at all.
Betty, the main character, stereotyped. And no wonder, because in the comic, she was the codifier of the image of a good and correct girl. Fun, homely and 'bright'. You know, this is the kind of girl that a lot of people want to marry just because she's the stereotype of a good girl. In the series - it turned into a so-called tie. The heroine realizes herself as a hostage of this image, but not wanting to upset her mother, she plays her role, paying enough attention (the first series) to what she really likes. The authors showed that even someone like her could have a dark and dark side, but the attempt was clumsy. You see, putting a black wig on a character and a cute underwear doesn't show his dark side. In the second season, the theme ' Dark Betty' is evolving, but is it necessary? You see, for all the timekeeping and Betty & #39; common & #39; often goes against morality and breaks the rules. It's normal, not perfect.
Veronica was very pleased. An ex-bitch on the road to correction. She's kind and assertive, but that's all there is to say about her. She's obviously idealized, close to Sushnost. But her role is more about being with Archie, and Andrews' usefulness in the series is highly controversial. Of course, there is a line of her father, but there you can do without it.
Jug, he's Bucklan in Lost's translation. I'm gonna get ripped off right now, but he's incredibly annoying. Although he is better than the other writers, he is not the one who positions him. He seems to understand that, but what can we do? This is not so much a cool outcast as a person who thinks he is. Arrogant, proud and in general a lone wolf who does not care about everyone but friends. And yes, at times he tries to be cynical, but man, he's put in the wrong place at the wrong time.
There are a whole bunch of secondary characters, but they are even more boring to describe. Riverdale's problem is that they go after the stamps, but they don't create them. They go where they are not and focus on those who are boring.
I was going to watch the series for a long time, but all hands did not reach. When they finally arrived, I watched both seasons twice (one in Russian, the second in the original).
Draw the text into the main points.
Technical part:
Nothing special, striking from the way the picture was shot, I did not notice. Except the color. Dull cold colors with a bluish-gray shade, pale, almost white faces of people - this is what creates the atmosphere of the series. This very atmosphere brings mystery, gloom and some intrigue to the viewer. These are the feelings that are necessary for the genre of detective.
Personally for me, Soundtracks are a very important part of the video sequence.
There are constant melodies accompanying scenes with a similar mood throughout the series; but there is also a variety of non-repeated music that increases the brightness of the most memorable, unexpected (or vice versa expected) moments.
Scenario / storyline:
When viewing, it often creates the feeling that I am not in the real, but in a fictional world - there is a feeling of unviability. Why? And because schoolchildren, seventeen-year-olds, immerse themselves in the serious business of their parents, are engaged in solving pressing and difficult problems, doing it as if they have some considerable baggage of life experience behind them. They do it independently, maturely, relying on their individual, fully formed point of view. The main characters, being friends, trust each other very much. Sometimes it comes to a degree that is extremely rare in life.
The cast of actors:
Their game cannot be fully appreciated when watching the series in the Russian version, since the intonation of most dialogues, the emotions of the characters disappear irrevocably or change beyond recognition.
In the original version, all the characters are quite bright. The presence of quiet conversations, dialogues in a half-whisper (which are very many) makes the very atmosphere of darkness, full of secrets hidden from the general eye, about which I wrote above, much more expressive.
I can't help but mention the main characters. This is the part of the series that impressed me the most. Their images are thought out to the smallest detail. Each of the heroes is individual and perfect. This perfection made me think and even inspired!
In the images of children, not only external data, but also their spiritual qualities are almost perfect. Everyone has a sense of self-esteem, responsibility; knows how to love, respect others; is loyal to his family and friends, honest - each of them is a full-fledged, bright personality. (At first glance, these characteristics may not fit the heroine Cherill Blossom.) But this is only at first glance. )
Character images are exactly what made my opinion of the series deeply positive.
In general, 9/10.
(-1 for very mature, responsible guys.) Such qualities are certainly good, but not very plausible for their age.
I really enjoyed the series and recommend everyone to watch it. The plot is mostly detective, there are many such series, but I was drawn to this one. With each episode, more and more new evidence and suspects are added, but the intrigue always lasts until the last series. And so that there was no leakage of information in the first season, even specially shot several versions of the penultimate series, for which a huge plus to the creators. The end is always very unpredictable, so few people knew it.
I want to talk about caste separately. The actors are all very beautiful, kind and soapy. All families are perfectly matched, some even resemble each other more than their real family. They have a very friendly caste, they always congratulate each other on their birthday, buy cakes and celebrate together. Let me say a few words and some of the caste:
Cole Sprouse (Jaghead Jones) is a favorite of 99% of all viewers of the series, his character was well tried and I would even argue that this is a story about Archie, not about Jughead. He really is a great actor and spectacularly appeared on the screens, like Jughead Jones after a long break in acting.
Lily Reinhart (Betty Cooper) is a wonderful actress and despite the fact that this is her first big role, she played her beautifully and now I want to review all other films with her participation.
Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge) - she plays her role perfectly and from the caste you can learn that she is a wonderful person, jokes a lot and cheers up everyone, in a word, Camila is the soul of the company
KJ Apa (Archie Andrews) is like his character, always smiling and cheering everyone up when you look at him. He’s supposed to be the main character, but I don’t think he has a very interesting storyline especially in season two, he was completely connected to the Lodges and it wasn’t very interesting to watch, but despite that, he plays well and conveys all the feelings that live in Archie.
Madeline Petsch (Sheryl Blossom) is the complete opposite of her character, she is the sweetest and kindest person I have ever seen on screen. She has a smile that immediately lifts the mood. She plays the school queen, who in the first season was very rude, looking at the character actress begins to seem the same, but in fact she is a wonderful person who did a great job with his role and, despite it, remained himself. She even deliberately began to conduct her channel to show the real herself, and so that people did not think that she was like Cheryl.
Vanessa Morgan (Toni Topaz) - Tony begins to appear on screens as a full-fledged character only from the second season. A lot of people didn’t like her at first, but when we started to study the character more, everyone really liked Topaz and Vanessa was added to the cast.
There are still a lot of great actors in the series: Skith Ulrich, Madchen Amick, Luke Perry, etc. I only told you about the most recognizable.
Separately, I would like to thank all the creators for the wonderful atmosphere of the series, everything is done perfectly, all the locations, makeup, special effects, all this is just fine. There are a lot of spectacular moments in the series, which you watch many times, I would like to talk about them and share my emotions, but I am afraid that this will be a spoiler for those who have not yet watched. I would like to add that in these scenes almost all of Medellin starred and even received prizes for the best stage played. The series in principle received many awards, but since the last event – Teen Choice Awards 2018, they have won in all nominations in which they were nominated.
I would also like to thank you for the music, it was never boring and was not superfluous, everything was perfectly fit for the stage. And the songs that were written themselves could compete with many artists. Almost all actors just have beautiful voices that sounded great in the musical episode, which is going to be repeated in the new season.
Riverdale is certainly my favorite series, it can be watched many times, because after the first viewing there are favorite moments. I advise you to watch or at least try to watch this series, because if you do not like it you can always remove, but I will never be able to understand how it may not like.

It would seem that another teenage drama, no different from Pretty Liars, Gossip Girl and so on. But no, take your time, it's something else. Based on a series of comics for teenagers, Riverdale takes you to a fictional American town whose residents seemingly know each other better than themselves. It all begins with the murder of a schoolboy ... and as the series progresses, the storylines twist more and more.
Watching the series, I had a feeling of surrealism. It seems like 2017, everyone has smartphones and the Internet, and the characters say that open-air cinemas are outdated and all sit on NETFLIX. But on the other hand, old 50s cars drive along the streets of Riverdale and the heroes dine in a typical American restaurant with neon signs. And there are contrasts everywhere. Red hair and white clothes. Red car on the background ' too green ' woods. Everything is very bright and in contrasts. The same uncertainty in the characters, you can’t tell who is negative and who is positive. Your opinion will change several times.
An intriguing trailer (I love mystery murders in small-towns with big secrets), the atmosphere of Twin Peaks for kids, and a couple of good reviews on social media convinced me to watch the show. Worse. The first season is strong and, to be honest, there is no desire to continue to look further.
Yes, the detective component of the series is really not bad. Except it's catastrophically small. Most of the time, the viewer is forced to watch the “suffering” of the five main characters, who are completely impossible to empathize with, since they are all empty. 'Riverdale' instead of real people is populated with stereotypical images, as if the yard is again the 90s: there is a school bitch, and a handsome football player, and a good girl, and a smart ulcer, and a marginal kid with strange things necessarily from a dysfunctional family. In addition, all the actors look as far away from real life as possible: all have perfect skin-teeth-hair-figures, boys have press cubes, girls do not wash off their makeup even when they go to bed. In general, the more toxic series for teenagers, made these days, I do not remember. Oh yeah! We still have a character here in 2018 who equates sexual orientation to a character trait.
Perhaps the only thing to praise Riverdale for is the music. The soundtrack is really catchy and mood-creating, including the title theme.
Maybe if I were 12 or 14, I would have liked Riverdale a lot more, but luckily, in my 12 or 14 years, I watched good TV shows and now I can only wince from Riverdale.
I don't recommend it.
Santa Barbara, having met in a passionate fit of embrace with Beverly Hills 90210, reincarnated in a small US town. And promises a third season of a thickly seasoned caramel-crumb sweet milkshake. It is mainly, as strange as it is, drunk by obnoxious teenagers - leading investigations of pretty girls with ' gloom inside', easily smashing school and heads with baseball bats hooligans blackmailing each other, parents and even mafia bosses athletes-Komsomol and daughters of rich parents.
School life, like the life of a small town, boils like lava in the hot vent of a volcano. Here, street gangs are fighting, killer maniacs are operating, city and school elections are held, missing sons and family secrets smelling of mothballs are found. There are, (apparently, Netflix series have a certain mandatory quota), and indispensable for almost every film, homosexual couples - the latter in general would not be so bad if the creators of the series, like Wachowski's Eighth Sense or the English garbage, were not lazy to reveal the topic of sex, which, despite the bubbling around endorphins, all the time ends before it starts, and could become the very pepper that will give at least some taste to the clearly in need of this plot.
God bless him with sex. But after spending two and a half days on 2 seasons of completely clichéd stories, with a sometimes far-fetched and alas almost always very predictable ending, as it turned out in the series, a significant part of the time which takes place in school, there is also practically no school. If you want to see a school, you have 13 reasons why, or American Vandal, even Beverly Hills, but not Riverdale.
The school being present, along with a very colorful picture still somehow in the first season, in the second one it became only like its badly assembled scenery. By the second season, there was almost nothing left in the series that deserved attention, well, maybe except a guy growing above himself (although it is not yet clear where) with the oddities of Baklan Jones and his father with a difficult fate (Skeet Ulrich is a killer from the cult thriller & #39; Scream'). These two characters, and perhaps the father of Archie played by Luke Perry, at least somehow similar to living people, unlike the rest, mired in intrigue and sinister secrets of the inhabitants of the new ' Woodsboro'
Alas, in the second season, the character of Perry for an increasingly intertwined tangle of events looks pushed to the third plane, and the Jones snake family, even acting as a duet, is unable to distract from places already frankly sliding into complete insanity of the plot. Delightful in the image of a young spoiled rich beauty Madeline Petsch (Cheryl Blossom) for the second season pales as well as all the bright colors that were filled with the first series - to remember only the ceremony of cutting the maple, which at the same time reminds of the Crimson Peak and the Handmaid's Tale, or the very beginning of the story - twins in white by the river. ..
At the end of the viewing does not leave the feeling that any line, which would not undertake to develop the creators of the series in the second season suffered a complete fiasco. Screenwriters involved many genres - detective, thriller, melodrama, social drama, but in each they seemed afraid to take a bold step forward, limiting themselves only to dull trampling from foot to foot on stories invented long before them. I will not say that I am not curious about the third season, but in general we can state that the series is more dead than alive and even if it, which is quite possible, lives more than 3 seasons, this story in its format is still closer to Mexican soap than to advanced Nettleflix.
You know, when I decided to read this series, I was sure it would be bad. This topic with mysticism and the main characters - teenagers. But after watching this series, I realized with horror that it was worse than I expected. But still in the series has its advantages, but against the background of minuses, they pale.
The plot: he tells us about the life of the town Riverdale, in which various devilhoods of varying degrees of mysticism occur. I want to say that the detective component of the series - to put it mildly limping. Series in which there is a search for something, using the detective method – simply boring. And in general, the series of this series are divided into two types: either fillers or boring. But you can't mention the plot without mentioning the characters. Here with the characters the situation is extremely unambiguous.
Archie Andrews is the main character of the series, which literally does not affect the events of the series. Yes, he does not have the worst storyline, but what good is it, if he does not affect the main plot. Take him out of the show, nothing will change.
Betty Cooper is perhaps the most interesting character of the whole series, the main storyline of the second season focuses on her, and you know her storyline is really interesting to watch, unlike other characters. But what good is it if she is a secondary hero and not the main one? The question remains open.
Jughead Jones is also quite an interesting character, he certainly reveals himself better in the second season of the project. And probably his storyline is the most interesting in the series. But the problem is that this character was prescribed specifically for the audience to love him. They wear it here and there. And they tried harder on him than the rest. And that's disappointing.
Veronica Lodge is a character created only to promote his father in the series. I can’t say more, like Archie, she is a dummy, if she hadn’t been in the series, her father would still be quietly introduced.
The rest of the characters make no sense to remember, because they are only for the environment.
Graphics and special effects: they are not bad, in principle, for such a series they are even too good.
Atmospheric and Music: that's what's really high here is music - it's beautiful. All the songs, soundtracks and self-written music are on top, and it would be nice to listen to it even separately from the series. I also want to highlight the atmosphere, which includes: scenery, costumes and of course references to the series, which add a good charm.
I’m not going to evaluate this series, or sum up any results. I hope my review has benefited someone, and I hope you don’t want to watch this horror series. Who can I recommend this series to? Probably girls from 10 to 14 years old, and a fan of the original comics.
That is how, in this title, to paraphrase the title of Shakespeare's play into modern slang, I can express my attitude towards Riverdale. Every single day I went to the VK public, I came across this series all the time. Memes, pictures, phrases related to Riverdale. And after all, I thought that nothing more pop soviet than “Game of the Throne”, “Sherlock” and “Superkhov” can simply be. I didn’t really know who Jughead was, who Veronica was, who Betty was, who Archie was, or what this “work of art” was. I watched Riverdale with the same purpose as The End of the Fucking World, to understand why the show is so crazy and for what merit it is so highly revered. And revered so highly that you might think that “Riverdale” is “Citizen Kane” from the world of TV series.
After watching the series itself (or rather season 1), one secret thought read in my head: “What the fuck did I just watch?” Frankly incompetent and stupid product, designed only for stupid minors, who, most likely, do not understand much in cinema. I’m not happy with the series at all. And given how aggressive the Riverdale fan base is, ready to tear up and throw anyone who, in their opinion, did not like the masterpiece series, the review will be painted in a neutral color, but nevertheless, in tone it will still be a negative review, I warned you.
The first thing I didn’t like about Riverdale is the main characters. How do you explain that? The main characters of this epic are too beautiful, model and glamorous. Like they're far from our world. Apart from a few minor characters, there are few characters in this series, at least a little resembling people from real life. And I think I've found the sedition of Riverdale's colossal popularity: the show flirts with the secret feelings and desires of girls of puberty, and it (that is, the series) demonstrates what they fantasize about in their subconscious; beautiful boys with a pumped torso? Available. Girls, one more beautiful than the other? Available.
The second thing that the series did not like, is that the detective component is allocated very little timekeeping of all series. About 20 percent. The remaining 80% is water, just to stretch the number of series. Just like a man who is 80% water, Riverdale is 80% water. From empty water, propelling the plot into some fuck, but giving time to the love collisions of the characters. As I watch Archie cling to Veronica ineptly, I get this thought: “That’s why Riverdale is being praised?” For the fact that all sorts of love adventures and all sorts of relationships are given more time than the detective component, for which the series is praised? It doesn't sound like what everyone is so enthusiastic about.” However, towards the end of the season, the detective component began to dominate the series. But it’s coming to a close, and what’s the point of watching season 1 end to find out what happened to Jason on the lake on July 4th if the first episodes (at least for me) caused a dozen yawns? That's what I mean.
The third one is the actors in the lead roles. I cannot say that the main actors are untalented hemps, on the contrary: they have a very great talent. The talent is beautiful to stand in front of the camera and pose as if they were models for the catwalk. This is especially true of Cole Sprouse, who is considered to have gained high popularity due to the role of Jughead. How pathetic and glamorous Cole is, I can't imagine him in serious movies. He would ruin the whole depth of the plot with his “beauty”! What am I talking about? About the good side of Riverdale?
So what Riverdale is 100% good about is this music, camera work and high-quality picture. On these points, River has no problems. The picture is stylish and bred to shine, the work of the operator is good and aesthetic, and the music tracks perfectly harmonize with the atmosphere of the series.
The result: "Riverdale" is overrated, proof of one good idea:were not even more important for the filmmakers,>weref/b>>>>>weref/b>>>wereather/b>>>werewisearch/b>>>>>>>>>>>>were not even more important for the film/b>>>>>>>>of the film.

It is not surprising that teenagers of different ages in many countries continue to be fond of the world of TV series. For me, this kind of filmmaking is going to grow and blossom on all TV screens for a very, very long time to come. The most common subgenre of this direction is teenage life. And voila, I present you another series with this theme called Riverdale.
When you start watching any series, you always hope for something new, unexpected and necessary for you. To be honest, this series has not become such for me. At one time, my heart was won by really decent, the very first in the era of this genre series from the CW channel, after which the teenage community still continues to enjoy them. Riverdale is a bit from another opera. Yes, the production comes from the same channel, but compared to previous well-known American series, this one is much newer, and therefore contributes to the development of the serial sample.
Riverdale is based on Archie Comics. I’m not a comic book fan, so I can’t tell if the script of the TV series matches the original story. Let me explain my impression:
I decided to watch this piece only out of curiosity to find out how the universe of TV shows is now flourishing. And at first I was a little disappointed: I immediately noticed several shortcomings that were very obvious. First, and the most terrible of them is the cardboard pattern, pretentiousness and overdrawnness of the characters. This fact is visible to the naked eye. Much is not plausible: if Veronica's mother (one of the main characters) has blue-black hair, then the daughter should also have the same dyed hair (and so by analogy every parent-child pair); perfect clothes, perfect makeup, strict harmony in colors and too elaborate proportionality in everything! This ideality hits in the face, and for the first few episodes I could not refrain from commenting on this. Yes, and before in the series, the characters woke up with perfect makeup and combed hair, but then ... clearly overdid it.
Second, the plot skeleton. In general, it is even a plus, but there are some shortcomings: for example, predictable steps of the characters, sometimes you can guess what will happen next, but there are also unexpected turns around the corner. The only thing that creates a cheap impression of the film is the template I have already mentioned and the presence of sexual minorities. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an aggressor about this, but can't we make normal TV shows without mentioning homosexuals? This whole situation in America has even affected the Academy Awards because of scandals, which is a bit sad. Therefore, sometimes you have to scroll through some moments, although for some it is completely normal. See for yourself.
The disadvantages will probably end there. As for acting, I am pleased that the actors try to convey the character of their characters, and someone does it very well (central characters of guys). The soundtracks are melodic, the visual range is normal.
At the beginning of the viewing, Riverdale did not ambiguously recall one very popular series “Twin Peaks” at the time. I’d call Riverdale a ‘90s spin-off, but that doesn’t mean it’s completely slick. It also plays Medken Emik, who was just a beauty in the first series.
During Season 1 I didn’t have the best impression of Riverdale. But now I’m in the middle of the second season and I’m waiting for the next episode, and I want to say that the plot is fascinating, and that’s the main goal of any series. As I mentioned earlier, the genre of teenage TV shows will live on for a very long time. Shows like Riverdale support development, and as a result, teenagers enjoy it. I think I am no exception.
