Season 1 tells how a small peaceful town has changed after the murder of Jason Blossom, the police seem to have ignored several brave heroes: Archie, Jughead, Veronica and Betty decided to investigate this case themselves, although Archie and Veronica almost do not do it, useless at all in this series.
Acting. This series does not boast, everyone walks with a boring face, no emotions, although there is an exception Madeline Petsch (Cheryl Blossom), her role she performed perfectly!
Plot. I liked the plot the most in season 1 undead in 2, this series was created mainly for little girls aged 12-16, because here everything is for a teenager: Love, sex, the main bitch in school, drama. But I want to pay attention to the fact that here they come to the end very quickly, but found a way out how to fill out the timekeeping, VERY much love story, just VERY much because of what sometimes I just want to turn off and go to sleep. The second season is easier to guess.
Music. With music there are no problems, insert at the right time, the right music, which is why it becomes a little atmospheric.
Why is it Neutral, but everything is simple, because the detective story is very popular in season 1!
After Veronica Lodge’s father was imprisoned with confiscation, he and his mother had to move to her “small homeland”, the town of Riverdale. The city turned out to be nothing, Veronica quickly made friends, only the high-profile murder of the son of a local “maple” tycoon very darkened the atmosphere.
All you need to know about Riverdale is that it is based on a series of comic books about a group of teenagers that have been published since the 1940s. Hence the convention of the world and typical genre tropes. The very thing turned out to be very bright and juicy. Such a neon-noir postmodern with a reinterpretation of series about schoolchildren in the spirit of "Gossip Girl" and Twin Peaks - at least its detective part, there is no mysticism here. Well, remember that this is a CW channel, and you know what they produce.
The main characters are many, four teenagers and each in turn brought to the forefront. And I like everything except Archie himself (he’s the main character in the comics), the too-standard handsome guy was discharged. What a beautiful Jughead! Cole Sprouse is generally a handsome, charismatic boy, and even easily outplays everyone. And the character is like hugging and crying: everything is like we girls love, yes.
Another interesting point is that a lot of time is given to the parents of children who are played by the stars of the youth series of the 90s. Dylan from Beverly Hills, the waitress Shelly from Twin Peaks, the star of the Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles, and many more familiar faces. A little detail, and those who are in the subject will be very pleased.
Well, with everything else there is also order: the detective line is interesting, the story is unraveled clearly, the heroes sausage so that you do not get tired of worrying about them. Nice thing.
To begin with, the series has been recommended to me many times, but I still did not dare to watch it. He kept pushing it, as they say, “for tomorrow.” And after watching a few episodes of the first season, I was disappointed that I hadn’t done it before.
I'll be brief on the story. The plot combines drama, detective, crime and begins to intrigue, almost with the first series, which in the first and second seasons. Throughout the story, many dark secrets of the town of Riverdale are revealed. Many chips were taken from the famous thrillers of the 90s and 2000s, such as "Scream", "When a stranger calls", "I know what you did last summer" and others, and it is very happy, as the implementation of these "chips" at the highest level. Some episodes are even named after these films.
The atmosphere of the series is well developed. The combination of a neon hue with beautiful scenery and a perfectly matched soundtrack that you will definitely be looking for or shazaming is something. You can immediately feel the mood of this quiet and innocent city.
Let’s move on to the actors and their characters. The cast in the series is very good. Each actor plays his role above all praise, both the main and secondary characters. Lily Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, Kay J. Apa and Camila Mendes perfectly embody the main characters on the screen, showing the character and mood of their characters, who really want to empathize. Almost all the characters of the series have their own personal secrets, revealed throughout the story, which can surprise the viewer, especially the “second side”. Betty Cooper. I would also like to praise Cole Sprouse. After such a long inactive in cinema, Cole copes with his role better than any other promising actor in Hollywood. And throughout the series, the actors do not slow down in the acting game, and the charm of Kamila and Lili pulls.
Thus, we have a good youth series, which has a well-developed plot, diluted with bright characters and atmosphere. I hope that the next seasons will be the same as the first and first half of the second season (the second season is not yet out in full). If you are a fan of such films as "The Scream" and the like, or you are just a fan of exciting plots, then this creation you should like.
And, almost forgot, in this series you will notice a lot of references to other series, films, comics and works of literature, which is undoubtedly very exciting.
10 out of 10
The title of the series perfectly fits the scenery, and the scene, and the content, and, oddly enough, the characters. It just keeps telling us that it's an American village '. By the way, the name is one of the pluses. I think we should start with them.
+
1. After watching the first season, I immediately Googled the release date of the second. I was pleasantly surprised – October 2017. The continuation of many beloved series have to wait for a year, or even a year and a half (pro ' Sherlock' generally silent). And here it is four months - and rushed!
2. Family topics. Every Riverdale family has their own style. Coopers, for example, wear light-colored clothes, they are all blonde. Betty always ties her tail. The Joneses (as well as the Lodges) have dark hair and are unlikely to see them without leather jackets. The Blossoms have red hair, even though their father wore a wig. Veronica and Hermione Lodge wear either dresses or skirts. It is strange that the family of the main character does not have their own style. Well, the Andrews were endowed with endless optimism and a cheerful nature.
3. The scenery. The whole town is pretty impressive. In Riverdale, as well as in '13 Reasons Why' there is a cafe where the main characters gather in difficult moments of life and solve their problems. There is the Sweetwater River, where the most important affair took place. What's the first scene worth? A red convertible, Cheryl in a white dress and a beautiful panorama of the forest. It was a paradise for my eyes.
4. Heroes. I can say with confidence that characters are the best in the work of writers. Yes, they are all imbued with some peculiar clichés only for them, but at the same time they never became uninteresting and annoying.
5. Conflicts between parents and children. I’ve never seen this subject in such detail in a teenage series. Riverdale is a city where terror, disorder and lawlessness reign. And while the river valley & #39 is shrouded in darkness, people cannot understand their own fears and the secrets of their birth. If we don’t acknowledge the reality of who we are, if we deceive ourselves and hide secrets, what happened to Jason could happen again. Residents of the city fear that their innermost secrets will come out and flood Riverdale with lies and deception. That is why there are quarrels between the older and younger generations. Everyone is trying to stay calm.

1. Acting game. You know what? You could have picked up better actors. I wasn’t inspired by the much-hyped Cole Sprouse (Jaghead Jones) or the sour-cute Lily Reinhart (Betty Cooper). The only people I can bow to on my feet for the work I've done are Skeeta Ulrich (FP Jones) and Medellin Petsch (Sheryl Blossom). When I saw them on the screen, I forgot about the rest of the world and completely immersed myself in watching them. I wish them further success in the film industry.
Plot. I don't even know what that means. It seems that the writers got drunk, gathered in one friendly company and began to write the script. And not to say that it turned out badly. For a young detective is quite good, but the stupidity of some moments is simply amazing! Archie was made into a prostitute. Miss Grundy was forgotten. They didn't explain why Sheriff Keller was covering for a criminal. But the main thing that pissed me off was the predictability of Jason Blossom's killer. I tried to guess, wrote big posts about the alleged criminal, went through all the answers from the left guy on the baseball team (or what did they play there?) to the main characters themselves. And you're wearing a setup. I closed my eyes to the similarity with 'Twin Peaks', the dodge of the storyline somewhere off the straight road, endless love affairs, etc. I was waiting for the most important intrigue to be revealed, because it was supposed to be just a huge bomb. But it turned out some incomprehensible bullet, flew the target. Terrible.
It's a good show. It is easy to watch, while you can think, analyze, philosophize. The picture is nice. Heroes aren't annoying.
This series came just when I had nothing to do with myself on a long autumn evening. Of course, a great start for a long and boring review, but they are not in my taste.
Here we go. The first thing that catches your eye when you start watching this series is a juicy picture: a lot of neon at night, beautiful landscapes during the day, beautiful actors you believe. All of them are very attractive, may seem too sweet, but they do their work much better than their colleagues from domestic soap operas.
The plot is rather confusing, there is a certain division of the series into teenage melodrama and adult detective. Sometimes the line with snotty dialogues is boring and I want to squander these dialogues rather. The first time I wanted to do that was on Season 1 Episode 10, and I was really wondering who killed Jason Blossom.
In season two, Riverdale will be bigger, more dangerous and more interesting. After watching Season 2 Episode 5, season two is darker, more exciting and even more mysterious. I think this is the case when the second season only develops the series, and it gets better.
So, the series will appeal to those who like to puzzle over complex riddles, enjoy a beautiful picture, not devoid of childlike simplicity of perception, will not find fault with the themes of sexism, feminism that rise in the series. A great choice to spend a weekend in the world of the town of Riverdale - where the neon 70s live side by side with modern smartphones, immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a small town and enjoy life in the American outback.
It's been a month since we watched. It is time to draw a line under season 1.
One day I suddenly became afraid: I do not know what is relevant from the series and what is being discussed now. There were two series to choose from: Skam and Riverdale.
And the choice fell on Riverdale - after all, it is fresh and there will be a continuation (and there is also Cole Sprouse!).
I don't really like youth TV shows, because I don't like these social gatherings at school, parties. But sometimes you can immerse yourself in this exclusively American-youth fairy tale.
The theme is such that at first I suspected them of licking the plot of Season 1 of Twin Peaks. I still hold that opinion. Yes, a little distorted, but very, very close.
And now the usual set of "fairy tales":
Beautiful: Archie Andrews. An ordinary guy, spinless and unreliable. He is not so handsome, but still he was singled out as the central face on which all the girls fall. The character did not particularly cause any emotions, except a sigh, after his next slurred step.
Simple-Admirable Moneypenny: Betty Cooper. Hurrying to help, fair, naive, but with brains. Neurotic disorders. She seems like a good girl, but she still has a sticky feeling. She has a heavy character, although she is positive in everything else.
Stranger heartthrob: Veronica Lodge. A bitch who is on the path of correction. From the first series, it makes clear what its essence is. And no matter how later we are not shown her positive sides, it is clear that she is on her mind.
Gay friend: Kevin. A good guy who hangs out with a bad guy.
Bitch: Cheryl Blossom. Red-haired drama queen. Don't cross her path!
Jughead Jones. The most interesting character in the entire series. The mystery man. Honestly, it seemed like he and Archie had more than a friendship. I noticed some chemistry in my mind, especially Jughead. In fact, somewhere I happened to read that among the fans of the series, there is this question: “Should Jones be asexual?” And I'll say yes. Entering a relationship somehow simplified his position.
The series is interesting, but in some places you want more dynamics. The last episode is beautiful. Looking forward to the second season!
Riverdale is an American youth drama series that began filming in 2016. The show started on The CW in January 2017. The plot is based on Archie comics, popular in the 40s.
All in all, everything is fine.
Genre is a mix of drama, crime and detective. Of course, there is a romantic line (where without it in a teenage film), but all the events revolve around the Blossom family.
Special when choosing a series, I give the atmosphere, it should begin with landscapes, houses and continue up to the appearance and behavior of the characters. Riverdale is a very atmospheric series in that sense. Filming took place near Vancouver, which means it is snowy mountains, grayness, dense forests and mountain lakes. It reminds me of Twin Peaks. Riverdale itself is very small, so all residents know each other from school and this leads to a very confusing story.
Plot. The tragic death of the son of the city’s richest man Jason Blossom becomes a turning point in the life of the whole city and its inhabitants. We are introduced to Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), he is passionate about everything from football to girls and music, Betty (Lily Reinhapt) is Archie’s friend, a newspaper editor at the school and is herself a very smart girl with her demons inside (which I hope will be more exposed in season two). Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) is a very eccentric guy who tells us a story and at the same time develops his talent as a writer. Veronica Longe (Camila Mendes) is moving from New York to Riverdale and will become an integral part of the team. In the future, all these heroes will reveal many secrets and bring clarity to what is happening in this small town.
Each character is very well described, each action has its own reasons, the storyline is 100% worked out. A huge thank you to the team who put their whole heart into each character. The personality of the characters is the main highlight of this series. Everyone can find a staff similar to themselves.
In general, it is remarkable that each hero has his own hobby and how they are interested in finding the truth.
Over. A series with a good story, bright characters, understanding of good and bad. I am sure that it will be accepted not only by teenagers, but also by older viewers.
And most importantly, look at them as stupidly as they look at you. - M. Zhvanetsky
Main claims:
1. Dialogues
As a rule, people rarely reveal their most secret secrets, and if they do, it is under the influence of too difficult circumstances. So the fact that in the series such “spiritual outpourings” occur every minute, already gives reason to doubt the reality of the presented world. It is always more interesting to understand the mental state of the characters, seeing it in their behavior and habits. In addition, in the cinema, the state of mind can and should be transmitted through the picture, but this is the next point.
2. Visual.
One of the main tasks of cinema is visual storytelling, and in Riverdale, what can be shown is usually told by the characters. For example, heroes often say that their city has changed and become darker. But we have never been shown this very city, so the viewer can only take the atmosphere of Riverdale from words.
But there are also positive aspects of the visual, albeit not begging for the above minus, but still setting the tone of the series in some places: frequent red and blue neon framing and a clear designation of some families by color (Blossoms - red, Coopers - light colors, etc.).
3. Plot
It would seem that this is a series in the colloquial genre, what can there be plot holes? Turns out they can. After all, some trifle often causes a very improbable reaction. For example, keeping a person in handcuffs in a hot jacuzzi and gradually heating the water to unbearable heat is the norm, but as soon as this person begins to pour maple syrup - this is the height of cruelty. And such aspects further distance the series from reality and from the viewer, respectively.
As a result, we get a rather unrealistic series-gum, which can be watched in the evenings on a relaxed and empty head.
For me, this series is aimed at girls who are going through puberty. They have everything they need. Gay boys, many beautiful half-naked boys, skinny boys, fat boys, girls mowing under lesbians, brazen bitches.
' Archie' is part of the comic culture a'Riverdale'... 'Riverdale' is 50 shades of gray for little girls. Each character is flat and doesn’t make much sense. Love lines are a separate subject. If there are many people involved in love affairs, this does not mean that it is complicated and confusing. No, she's just stupid! Archie feels something for Veronica, but meets with a music teacher, but Betty also loves Archie, and a gay friend has strange feelings for all the guys.
The plot itself is interesting, but in order to consider it, you need to throw away all the pretty guys and stupid girls. Unfortunately, there will be no characters left.
I suggest you take a closer look.
Actors: None of the actors look like an apprentice in Riverdale. There are no students like Chris Hamsworth (with rare exceptions). So excuse ' they're teenagers! They can behave stupid' does not pass. and these ' mysterious views' constantly nervous me!
Characters: Again, ' Archie' is a good comic book with quality characters. But when transferred to the format of the series, they all stupefyed. Archie should be a radiant guy, not a redhead 'sex fight'. In history, only female characters are developed. The way they can. But this can be called development and becoming. But here's the male characters... all of them boil down to ' he's got cool abs, he's all sexy! Look at these cubes! look at the silk hair!' I'm sorry to see that!
The quality of the picture, soundtracks, shooting does not cause questions. The series, after all, worked Netflix.
Bottom line: I don't think this is a TV series! you won't remember anything. I was constantly vomiting (and this is from the series).
I watched a lot of TV shows, but when I got to know Riverdale, I realized that it was something special and so extraordinary that I spent my time waiting, from series to series. But why?
First, the story and the image of the city. Riverdale is a once peaceful and innocent city, after being murdered, turned into a huge closet with hundreds of skeletons and the darkest secrets. Here are a few friends and begin their investigation, diving into the most unlit corners of this closet.
Number two: characters. All the characters are unrealistically spelled out and very well revealed (well, of course, they had 13 episodes for this). Most of all, I liked that there are no completely positive or completely negative characters, there are no such fabulous ' Cinderella' and evil 'stepmother' Neither character is the antonym of the other. But there are still template characters: Cheryl Blossom is a school bitch, Jughead Jones is a weird kid, unlike the others, Veronica Lodge is a former school bitch who wants to be better. However, these characters are revealed from different sides and part with their patterns. (I think it’s not surprising, but I really liked Jug and Veronica, they are beautiful)
Three: atmosphericity. At least get rid of this series. Some neon colors and just beautiful music (in one of the last episodes played Believer - Imagine Dragons, not a bad reason to watch, right?). I really liked the entourage of the cafe, that cinema on cars, everything is very beautiful, but absolutely not fabulous.
Four: a series about school and teenagers for themselves. It’s a good show to watch at that age. I don’t know if the older generation will like it, but anything in this world is possible.
Five: suspense. Both the ending and the whole movie were really intriguing. It’s as if the whole movie is pointed at the killer, and then they change the subject abruptly, and now another person is the killer. Also, each episode opens some more bones of the skeletons of the characters, each episode is something unexpected that you just can not stop.
Sixth: actors. All the actors, oddly enough, are very beautiful (especially Cole Sprouse), they are pleasant to watch, and play quite well. I like that before Riverdale, they almost never filmed anywhere and did not have time to turn into 'stars' it helps them to play sincerely. For many, this series was a debut and, hopefully, will mark the beginning of a wonderful career.
So Riverdale is a new and really fresh thriller series, with superb suspense, heroes and plot. Perfect for teenagers. I am sure you will like it and will stay in your head for a long time.

Immediately note that the fact that this is a series based on the popular comics about Archie – I learned only after watching the last series. I am not comparing the series to a comic book.
Riverdale is a story about the life of high school students in a mysterious town that is not on the map of the United States. A fictional city, in fictional space and time. I note that despite the fact that the era depicted in the series resembles our days, the director minimized the number of episodes in which smartphones and tablets appear. Unlike modern youth, the heroes of the story often do not use gadgets.
The plot is well thought out from the first series to the last.
Acting performance is surprisingly high. I surprised Cole Sprouse with his acting, despite a long inactive.
What about the future of Riverdale? CW focuses on an audience that is ready to grab almost anything. CW has tried several times to run a drama about wealthy schoolchildren, but only "Gossip Girl" was successful. Perhaps this time, the CW won’t make past mistakes, and the writers will continue to stand the bar of the pilot episode... then maybe the crown from the head of “Gossipers” will move to “Riverdale”.

I'm not a serialist, no. But immediately after the release of the first series, Riverdale became very popular on the World Wide Web, I wondered what was there, and I decided to take a peek at the pilot episode. I looked. Nothing special, but the ending was quite intriguing, I wanted to know what would happen next. Well, after another episode, I decided that since I got involved in this, then I will see to the end, find out what happened then, on July 4 on the River Sweetwater.
Although it is fair to say that my opinion, in principle, has not changed and that closer to the final season began to seem that everything is too long.
The content of Riverdale can be considered in two aspects - detective and youth. The detective side is good. The plot is based on an interesting murder story with many pitfalls. Thanks to the gradually introduced new characters-suspects and revealed with each series of facts about the crime, it seems as if you yourself solve this mystery with the heroes. And you don't know who the killer is, you tend to go one way or another until the last episodes, although usually in stories like this I understand everything before.
Speaking in another aspect... I’ve probably already watched TV series and movies about American high school students. All these incomprehensible throws of Archie, aimed in the series to make the viewer feel sorry for the hero, all these wild love interweavings (here and before Gossip Girl is not far!), as for me, only interfered and sometimes even annoyed. Riverdale is a series that combines crime and youth drama, yes, and it sounds interesting, but with the second still the creators overdid it. Although if you want to look at the typical "high school" with parties, cheerleading, lockers in the corridor and the lives of typical young Americans, then you will like.
The main roles in the series are played by young actors, the only one I know of is Cole Sprouse, one of those twin brothers from Disney. All type-top, or the life of Zack and Cody, who was popular in his time. I also liked this series at the time. Cole was probably one of the reasons I decided to watch Riverdale, and I was wondering what happened to him because he and his brother hadn’t been on screen in years. In general, the cast of the series is bright.
Most of the atmosphere of the series is school American life, comfort gives it the fact that the action takes place in a small town with its narrow streets and cute cafes and a cinema (this is well understood by residents of large cities!), moments a sense of dreaminess is inspired by landscape plans. This fits at least unobtrusive soundtrack of modern lungs for listening and perceiving songs. All this makes a very nice picture.

My score was initially lower, but it was influenced by the last two episodes. The tension in them reached high levels, there were several powerful scenes.
At the time of writing, work has already begun on the second season. At first I thought it was crazy, what else can I show you? But again, in the last couple of series, the creators threw a pretty bait in the next season, began to draw both the main plot and the second plan. I hope it doesn't get any worse. What will come out of this will be known in the autumn.
Perhaps, first of all, it is worth paying tribute to the CW channel for the return of youth content to the screens, after the departure of many series, a certain “stagnation” of youth dramas was formed.
What is "Riverdale"? At first glance, this is an ordinary drama about high school students with their troubles, love affairs, a little humor and, of course, with elements of a detective. What does it remind me of? "Riverdale" is a good mixture of the famous "Sweet Liars", a pinch of luxury and sophistication "Gossip Girl" and the mystery "Twin Peaks". Is the detective story the basis of the story? Absolutely. And your eyes will attract neon color against the background of a dark and gloomy city. By the way, speaking of colors, the color scheme of the series is carefully developed even in the characters. There, the Blossom family prefers only a luxurious-Gothic red-black tone, the Coopers gravitate to pastel shades, Lodge – here, perhaps, not so much color as the influence of glamour and gloss on the creation of the image of the “exemplary” family. Only handsome Archie chooses a sports jacket of the school team, or neutral T-shirts. Perhaps it’s a trifle, but perhaps well-thought-out characters are undoubtedly another feature of the series.
Riverdale is a small town where everyone knows each other or has encountered each other. It is the inhabitants of such a perfectly quiet town that keep a lot of secrets, which constantly surface during the series. The plot of the series is the disappearance, and then the death of a young boy from the most influential family in the city. Throughout the series, a quartet of high school students on equal terms with adults tries to find out who and what is behind the murder of young Jason. Together with the characters of the series, we see how from series to series the guys try to find the killer and understand his motives. Behind all the mystery, interesting stories emerge and new plot twists are formed.
Archer is the main character, after whom the original comic book is named, a simple guy who plays in a football team, and also dreams of becoming famous and becoming a singer. If at the beginning of the season the guy was torn between two hobbies, then after the creators left it in the background. Archer also hides a lot from friends, because no one knows where he was when Jason was killed. He's supposed to be the guy that every girl in town dreams of. As a result, he tries to have an affair with one, moves to another, and finds “love” with the third. He is too unsure of himself and his actions. KJ Apa – confidently played Archer, may have been able to make his own adjustments and make the character interesting for the audience. Perhaps the pair of Veronica and Archer are not the most successful, I can not say that the union will last long. This pair resonates strongly compared to the pair Judhead and Betty.
At first glance, Betty is a modest, quiet girl who is experiencing her sister’s departure and secretly in love with her best friend, Archie. Her character is interesting because it is revealed by the end of the season – in actions. Few people know that behind a cute honorary student hides a rude and harsh girl, because she carefully tries to hide it. Her rightness sometimes interferes with her life. She gives her full love to Judhead and that sometimes changes her and makes her stronger. Betty and Judhead are perhaps the most harmonious and beautiful couple in the series, their love is very pure and innocent.
Veronica hides her past, because behind her current friendliness and friendliness lies the figures of the former leader and the first school bitch. Now she decides to change, atone for her guilt in front of others and find friends, only that very feeling of the “villain” in her does not fade, no matter how Veronica tried to hide him. By the way, her outfits and image are perfect, which reflects the style lessons taken in New York. Camila Mendes reminds Phoebe Tonkin, Lucy Hale of her appearance. But it is worth noting, it is quite good, given that this is her serial (and in general) debut.
Judhead - one of the central heroes, on his behalf is a story. He writes a book about what happened, so we become direct witnesses to his thoughts and conversions. Judhead, in my opinion, is wise and developed beyond his years, unlike the rest. As opposed to Archer, Johnson is an introvert, he finds it hard to get along with people until he gets close to Archie, Veronica and Betty. By the way, Judhead is played by Cole Sprouse, just the same star of the Disney channel and the films “All type-top or the life of Zack and Cody” and other sequels. His play is expressive and dramatic, you believe him from the first second. In my opinion, he plays the most interesting character.
Cheryl is the only antagonist among teenagers, the sister of the tragically murdered Jason. With any goals, the girl tries to achieve what she wants, go head over head and destroy everything in her path. The only problem is that she changes her friends like gloves. In some moments and episodes, we see her dreaming of avenging her brother’s death, advocating for justice and honesty. She is not as loved by the family as she thinks she is. She tries to deal with all the difficulties, although it is not easy for her. After watching the season, it’s hard for me to say that she’s a 100% villain, perhaps her character is in turmoil because of the pressure of the situation.
In general, it turned out to be a good teenage drama with its pros and cons. What is nice is that there are young actors who have not yet had time to light up anywhere (except one). Their play is pleasant and interesting to watch. One of the advantages is that teenagers are not played by actors who are 10 years older, as is usual. The first part of the series is quite long, because in the second half there are too many actions that quickly lead to the finale of the season – this fact disappointed me. I thought the end was too smeared. However, I am glad that such a project appeared on the CW channel. It is beautiful, attractive and attractive for its gloom and mystery.
Whether you believe in order or chaos, the outcome is the same. We are either in control of our lives or we only think so.
Jason Blossom's high-profile murder roiled the city. Who is the killer of this beautiful guy, as everyone says about him? This question we ask right up to the end of the first season of this series.
What is the picture of Riverdale? Only a few long-familiar series crumpled together – the same “Twin Peaks” with the murdered Laura Palmer, the same “Gossip Girl” with a voiceover and bad girls... The list goes on and on.
Then what made you look at this tape? I'll start with plus. The series was shot really well, also perfectly picked up casts here, for which thank you very much.
But the creators of Riverdale, like many creators of other series, did not take into account the storylines. I won't spoil it, so I'll say otherwise. The relationship between the main characters by the middle of the season turns into a complete mess. You might say, “It’s life, it’s still so messy.” But this crosses certain boundaries so much that closer to the sixth series, I completely lost interest in inspecting.
Decide for yourself, think – too, and most importantly – look and create your point of view.
The youth TV series industry is growing every day. And it should not be denied that of such a huge number of works, only a few are truly worthwhile. And this series is not among them.
Yes, it is made in the spirit of the present time, we see the usual institutions, school, city and people. All this is terrifying to us: the images of heroes, the degree of life, which is interrupted with the onset of a certain event. In this case, a quiet town opened up to residents from the worst side after Jason's murder. And, of course, who will take up this mysterious case, like a group of regular teenage detectives. They certainly did. But what a satire on the work of law enforcement (!). However, one should not underestimate the actual knowledge of adolescents of their environment, its inhabitants and the thoughts and motives of the latter. I am ready to admit that here a group of young detectives do not resort to any miracle machines, do not use expensive equipment for which children simply would not have enough money. In 'Riverdale' there is no hint of illogicality, except for regular unnoticed night escapes at night. But this is not such an impossible mission as, for example, the special task: ' Do not succumb to the charm of Jachead' Why? Cole Sprouss is the only experienced and knowledgeable actor. He gives grace to the series, but only he. Everyone else seems to have just begun their journey, and their emotions are equal to one.
If we talk about the images and analyze them separately, then some of them do not fit into the ordinary life, about which the characters tell ' Riverdale' But when they gather in the same fictional city with a fictional history, then their own excessive unnaturalness can be closed eyes and, without blinking them, say that it should be. The series is the genre in which the characters should develop more, change, for that they are given dozens of series. But apparently, with only 13 on their account, the organizers of the whole process decided to drastically reduce it. While Veronica’s moral progress is vague and disturbing, as in life, Betty and her mother change at an incredible rate, but most of the time become themselves. Perhaps it has to do with the ‘Darkness 39’ that is hidden inside Betty, and I hope we will be told about this side of her next season so that the answer to the question ‘Why spoil your nails by pressing your own skin 39’ contains a real justification for this action.
Someone saw the problem of fathers and children here. Well, fathers and children are here, yes. I won't deny it. But where's the problem? One half of the parents comforts their half of the children, lets them go to parties, and the other forbids everything and everything, making his excuses crazy about the long-standing feud between the two families. But that’s not a problem, it’s a plot hook on which the murder story hangs (excluding Jachead and his father’s denials – there’s definitely an actual problem with a dysfunctional family). Speaking of a long-standing feud, Romeo and Juliet of this series in most episodes and wait to meet on the balcony and between takes to complain that parents forbid them to love each other. Speaking of love. Is she even here? Of course, parents love their children, so much so that they are ready to put them in a boarding school. But where, I ask you, is the love between a boy and a girl? Even Kevin loves his boyfriend more, as ridiculous and disgusting as it is for me to realize it. But I look forward to developing the relationship between the other two characters, especially as the ending hints at some difficulties in their future relationship, which they will bravely overcome.
They solved the murder, that's good. I didn’t want to believe this horrifying truth. But there was no tension, there was no real suspect to be replaced by another. There were no dangers, indirect crimes, because even the plot was diluted with intrigues seemed boring. But it is good that there was no lava or anything else (fantasy, sorry, not enough), from which it is impossible to escape, and the characters somehow still escape. That would make me angry.
There is no fear or horror that the city has become a ghost town, that everyone is under suspicion, that a murderer may take another life. It never happened. Even the heroes weren't too afraid. And this is strange, given that the susceptibility of adolescents to such delicacies is not at all reduced to the brain command: ' flashlight in the teeth and forward' At least they've had a day for decency. Let the result of the investigation does not raise questions, if you take into account all the claims to morality, but the content, reasons, reasons, leads - this is too unnatural. Even a vampire series is more trusted than a Riverdale killer.
What I want to say at the end, it is impossible to judge completely yet, the story is not finished yet, but I am glad that the directors and writers did not stretch one season for 30 episodes, I hope that this will continue. But while I can say that the actors are not very good, the plot - albeit versatile, but not catchy. An idea? I didn't see her in one piece. There is a hunch about what they wanted to tell us, but they are not confirmed. You can endlessly say that an individual can find something for himself in everything, I also found it. But there is no universal, comprehensive message. If not, what is the point of all this?

The plot: is well thought out from the first series to the latest. There are no failures in the script, and at the end the mystery (Blossom's murder) unravels like a tangle. In this series definitely wins against the background ' Pretty Liars' with which it is so often compared. Little girl's snot. Everything is quite raw and natural (although, of course, as in any picture there are exaggerations), a lot of real, human emotions and fears. This is the main advantage against the background of other youth series, where there is too much melodrama and too little conversation on the topic.
Actors: Acting here is on top. While I can say that at the beginning of the series, the actors sometimes fell short, as filming progressed, it became noticeable how much their skills and ability to feel comfortable in front of the camera improved.
A couple of characters have not yet been fully revealed, but I must note that what seemed uncomplicated at the beginning of the series (yes, many of the characters were the personification of steriotypes of melodramas for teenagers), in the end has acquired new colors. Characters open up on a new side and evolve. I really enjoyed seeing this transformation from simple teenagers to people with their own stories, sorrows and experiences. I should also note that in 'Riverdale' characters are constant and do not make decisions that would not be peculiar to their nature (which often happens in low-quality paintings).
The cinematography is excellent, the scenes always display the emotional component of the plots.
Music: always adds tension at the right moment, there are no complaints.
In general, the series turned out refreshing and with its own twist: dark, tense and mysterious. At the end of the season, any ' vanilla' that was inherent in the first episodes disappears here, and only pure drama / thriller remains. The series keeps in constant tension and captures the viewer more and more with each series. I can safely say that the series is not only for teenagers, but will appeal to many under the age of 30. I am very glad that the detective story is written so qualitatively, the characters are thought out and revealed from new sides, and that with each series the series becomes only more interesting. I am looking forward to the second season, it promises to be more ' darker and tougher'.
P.S. Please remember that the series is based on a comic book: naturally, it will affect the plot and many details in it. No matter how serious they try to make it, it is still based on a regular comic book.
What is admired in this series remains a mystery to me.
Yes, the visual part does not leave indifferent. The cafe, the beloved place of the main characters, is decorated in an attractive neon style. It is noticeable that the operators pored over the plans of the forest. Although the cast consists of template characters, there are individuals who have charisma. It's all right, or rather not. This is the problem of the series, there are no catching anchors that will leave a mark on the memory, but it is also not a failed project.
Now let's break the story. I will be brief because there is nothing to consider. It's all about the murder of one of the twins whose parents are the richest and most powerful people in the city. In the course of the investigation, which is mostly handled by a group of teenagers, facts from the lives of the heroes emerge like corpses from a river. Conflicts are far-fetched and have no basis for further development. As for the detective part of the series, they're raw. There was one point that is simply impossible to predict, but the emotions of the Vau quickly disappear. The heroes have little motivation. For example, a new Veronica appears in the city, she is the most confusing. Then she explains her good deeds for people who are completely strangers to her by the fact that, in her last school, this girl was bitchy and, having moved to another city, wants to change and become kinder. But then they will do something that goes against her plan to be a benefactor to the humiliated and offended. The teenagers in the series don’t know what they want. And if they do not know, then the viewer is even more interested in watching. You could write a volume, the size of War and Peace, about the problem of the strange and contradictory actions of each of this series. If the plot is not finalized, the characters are weak, maybe this teenage series teaches something? The short answer is no. Even the conflict between fathers and children is not solved to the maximum.
As a result, we have relatively good camera work, tolerable editing, the music is selected very well and that's all. All right, Karl, that's it. Not good for a show. If you turn it into a full-length film and make intelligible characters, then something whole can come out. I judge the series from the position of an adult, if you wear a mask of a teenager, you can definitely give sympathy to Jughead Jones, he does not fit into the crowd and does not want to fit in. Every child in transition will find something related in him.
Riverdale is a series whose plot description would never be enough to watch a trailer. The series, which is gaining popularity every day, thanks to actors with beautiful appearance, and simple, similar to most others, plot. I would never waste my time on it if it wasn’t for this overwhelming mainstream. I was only able to watch the pilot episode because I didn’t want to watch it anymore. But let's start over.
What do we see in the pilot? Absolutely nothing new. However, nothing else had to be expected. Characters are a mix of characters from such series as ' Wolf' and 'Shame'. And besides, they not only have a choir actor similar, but also appearance (well, about appearance this is only my assumptions).
Veronica's all Mary Sue. A rich beauty who does not build anything out of herself, but tries to be nice and friendly to everyone.
Betty is a poor beauty who accidentally managed to make friends with new Veronica.
There is also a girl who considers herself ' the queen of school' and a handsome guy whom everyone wants, and even gay people, without whom in our time no TV series for teenagers can exist. The cast consists of some attractive young actors who are pleasant to watch, but, alas, because of the many clichés, just not interesting.
Plot. All actions, according to the first series, and the description of the plot will take place in two places: the school (main time), and the forest, where most likely we will meet with something mystical. After all, we are promised ' strange and dark secrets that hide behind the festive facade ' So the events in the first series, and the very atmosphere of the series resembles the general mood that was present in the above mentioned ' Wolf' but, unlike ' Riverdale', each episode ' Wolf' ended so that I wanted to watch more and more. In the case of the second, there is no such feeling, because while watching the first series, I really wanted to turn it off.
The show doesn't catch on. I don't feel like watching. There's no action or intrigue. He gained popularity only because of the attractiveness of the actors, and the reproduction of all the desires of teenagers on the screen. This series is for the viewer, and I understand why there are so many positive reviews. But he's not worth it. Everything is boring and long, although the picture is beautiful. If you like standard teenage TV series, full of beautiful guys, girls, mysterious and mystical events taking place in the territory of the same city, homosexuality, without which it seems to be impossible to live, school love and touching breakups, events that occur on the territory of the school, lessons and secrets between teachers and students behind everyone's backs - then yes, you will like it. If you want something exciting, original and unusual - look further, or you can turn on this ' Riverdale' while cleaning the apartment, and while you are distracted, trust me, do not miss anything. And if you miss it, it will not be difficult to guess what you missed, because there are no unpredictable plot twists.
And watch TV series worthy of your attention, and do not waste time on such an unremarkable mainstream movie.
Riverdale: finally a new high-quality youth series
Riverdale is the series we've been waiting for from CW. The channel, which became famous initially for its youth shows, has recently moved away from this concept towards comics and fiction, for a long time they did not have real hits for the Young / Adult audience. And that it is already a hit, there is no doubt.
Riverdale is a mix of Twin Peaks, Gossip Girl and Veronica Mars, so if you like any of this, the series will definitely taste good. The series begins with the death of a schoolboy in a small town where everyone knows each other. Almost immediately it turns out that it was a murder, and the hero was not an angel, and the motive could be many. Does that ring a bell? Oh yes, Jason Blossom is our new Laura Palmer.
Gossip girl resembles the presence of two heroines around which the narrative revolves. Betty and Veronica quickly become best friends when Veronica comes to the tiny Riverdale from New York and enters a new school, but a whole bunch of obstacles immediately appear on the way of their friendship: a common love interest in the face of the popular Archie Andrews, an insidious & #39; a crappy girl' (and in combination the sister of the murdered Jason) Cheryl Blossom, a mad mother Betty... All this causes misunderstandings, quarrels and reconciliation between the girlfriends - well, purely in the spirit of Serena and Blair, although the relationship between the schoolgirls in Riverdale is still much more sincere and warm (so far, heh).
Well, from the magnificent Veronica Mars here is a truly exciting atmosphere of a small town and its big secrets. Plus, the action is focused on teenagers, respectively, they in the series are engaged in solving crimes and finding adventures in one place. Of course, there is a sheriff there too, but there is no doubt who will eventually reveal all this.
I have already told a little about the plot and especially nothing to add - the plot is quite simple, although interesting, and all further details will be spoilers. Someone killed a schoolboy who at one time managed to break the heart of more than one girl. His twin sister, and at the same time the main school bitch, is either involved in this, or was in love with him (really their very strange glances at the beginning), or not at all in business, just with character unlucky. They all study in the same school together with the main characters, around which the narrative revolves.
Archie - the main character of the comic book, which is the series - cute, charming, but, fortunately, not quite the perfect guy. He is involved in a close relationship with a music teacher who also has a difficult past. His best friend Betty has been in love with Archie since childhood, but is afraid to admit it to him. At first glance, she is typical ' neighbor girl' - cute, serious, obedient, but very soon it becomes clear who exactly is in a quiet pool. . .
Veronica is a glamorous girl from a big city, descended from heaven to earth after the arrest of her crooked father. She accepts her new position quite calmly and even sees it as an opportunity to start a new life and become a different, more decent and good person, rather than a bitchy metropolitan pacifier.
The last of the four main characters - and the most popular among viewers - is Jughead performed by the insanely charming Cole Sprouse, the only experienced actor from the youth. He and Archie used to be friends until a cat ran between them. Jughead is the exact opposite of Archie: an introverted, depressing but very interesting character. The story is told on his behalf.
There are parents, teachers, other schoolchildren, all with their skeletons in the closet and cockroaches in the head. The series captures at once and does not let go for a minute, secrets are revealed, hearts are broken, but the drama is just enough that the spectacle does not turn into soap, and the plot is so interesting and rich that you forgive the show all its minor mistakes.
100% review recommendation!
I will immediately note that the fact that this series is based on the popular comics about Archie - I learned only after watching the 3rd episode. Accordingly, my first impressions were formed with the firm conviction that this is an original work. And again, since I'm not a fan of this comic book series, I didn't have any expectations or prejudices in advance.
What is before our eyes? Riverdale is a story about the life of high school students in a mysterious town that is not on the map of the United States. A fictional city, in fictional space and time. I note that despite the fact that the era depicted in the series resembles our days, the director minimized the number of episodes in which smartphones and tablets appear. Unlike today’s young people, the characters of the story do not spend time looking at the screen and moving a finger on it. That's a good thing for the series.
It's beautiful. Beautiful and most actors. I don't mind that refinement. Beauty is a pleasure to watch, especially when the cameraman shoots close-ups well and the actors play lively. I liked Betty (Lily Reinhart) the most. Mysterious character. Something is on her mind, but it is not clear what.
Music emphasizes the action well, but does not distract. From the 4 episodes viewed, it is difficult to judge the plot as a whole, as long as it is only clear that we are involved in unraveling some of the secrets that Riverdale hides. In the web of narrative woven and high school students and their parents. Everyone has something to hide from each other.

As always, a rather similar series to most of those we have seen.
School, each student is assigned to a specific group - popular, losers, outcasts, athletes and so on. And if you are lucky enough to be in a group above your own, then this is a great joy! You were nothing recently, and today you live under the lights.
The main characters are in the center of murderous events. Each of them could be a suspect, yes, they have something to hide. Their past and present begin to struggle with each other.
The plot of the series is not new to the viewer. All this we have seen quite popular, youth series. But the cast is so unusual and interesting that you can sit watching. Also, the performance of these actors is on top! Look and believe, empathize and wait for the continuation. The cast has not yet had time to wash their eyes and lead to a serial burp.
You can watch, but there's nothing to do. There is no morality, no value, only new-fangled secrets, imaginary love and a colorful picture! It will go for an easy evening when you do not want to think about anything or with insomnia.
Mentally flying over the frames of the electronic picture, familiar images constantly appeared in my head and amicably lined up parallels with the dramas viewed earlier. Probably the most vivid and intrusive image popping up in the place you think is the six-season 2007 drama Gossip Girl. Everything coincides: style, presentation, appearance of characters, plot development, quotes ... Add a bit of a British accent and a few French names to the Riverdale pilot, I couldn’t tell that Upper East Side story from that Riverdale story.
On the other hand, the plot of events “Riverdale” almost completely repeats the beginning of the teenage series ABC Family “Sweet Liars”, which in my eyes remained an unsuccessful clutter under “Gossip Girl” from the CW channel.
To the delight, the prequel “Sex and the City” of the same CW channel “Carrie Diaries” in 2013 left an exceptionally pleasant imprint on the heart of a romantic and TV series lover. But don’t think, Riverdale doesn’t mimic the style or plot of Carrie’s Diaries, but it doesn’t leave the feeling that a few characters have been brazenly cut from The Diaries and pasted into Riverdale, which isn’t a bad thing. The characters were amazing in many ways.
Parallels are drawn, but the question remains: “How to watch such a hybrid of teenage dramas?” In response, I will say the following: “In skilled hands, the best parts of different mechanisms can make an incredibly good new unit.”
“Gossip Girl” stood out for its high literary component, its graceful pathoniness and thoughtful dialogues, monologues and all other words that the audience enjoyed for many years. “Cute liars” still lack “mind”, they are flat and childish, but the development of a plot based on a criminal event, arouses the interest of the public. And “Carrie Diaries” were in a way beautiful, for similar characters and actors of “Carrie Diaries”, it is pleasant to watch in any series.
At the exit we have a well-designed, thought-out drama with an interesting criminal plot, presented by beautiful, talented actors on a bright, spectacular television picture wrapped in beautiful and insightful music.
What about the future of Riverdale? I didn't mention TV channels. CW focuses on the audience who is ready to eat what smells good. ABC Family is releasing material that will be watched by housewives and girls living in stupid dreams. CW has tried several times to run a drama about wealthy schoolchildren, but only "Gossip Girl" was successful. Perhaps this time, the CW will not make past mistakes and the writers will continue to stand the bar of the pilot episode ... then, perhaps, the crown from the head of Speltinza will move to Riverdale.
The pilot is good... the potential is there. What else do you need for a good drama about love and youth?
