Nightmares or innocent curses To be honest, I have been waiting for this movie for a long time. Since it plays famous Japanese singers and actors and because, I really wanted to see something new and intricate from Japanese directors.
An abandoned woman takes out anger on her little daughter, who suddenly disappears. After the search, the girl is found on the balcony, and within 3 days the woman dies. This case learns a young reporter who begins the investigation of the case.
Takashi Shimizu is already the name of a brand that speaks for itself, his series of films The Curse, for me became the standard of quality and horror. In this director, I see both a modern Western-inspired director and a classic creator of Japanese values. His new film, Nightmares, is a controversial sight. On the one hand, it is a strong, social drama about children who are abused by both parents and strangers. On the other hand, this is an ordinary mystical horror film based on urban legend.
The picture itself is removed, quite strongly, gloomy tones and gray colors, only add to the dullness and reality of what is happening. The film is not scary in terms of horror, as it is not a classic horror with blood and scary ghosts. And frightening attitude to young children, who are humiliated and beaten with impunity by adults, often they are parents who lose their jobs, their livelihood, their anger and instability they take out on children, the only, close people who endure everything because they love their parents. Although children are often pursued by strangers, so it is so important not to let young children away from themselves far.
But if distracting from heavy themes and thoughts, and focuses on the mystical side of the film, the film turned out quite good. Tommy's Curse is a classic Japanese film based on the urban legend of cruelty and inevitable punishment. A great story that shows, past and present, skillfully collecting torn pieces of the film, and collecting them into a whole picture.
Hideaki Takizawa, a famous Japanese actor and singer, for the sake of whom I was looking forward to this film. And he totally lived up to my expectations, a slightly nutty puppeteer and at the same time a puppet, he created a sad image of the guardians of children. Someone who can understand and help a child in the most difficult moment.
Diki Arioka, I will be banal but I will say that he is handsome. I love him in Hey! Say it! Jump. He played the main role of a young journalist who is a link between the other characters. It is with his help that the girl decides to remember the past and fight back, it is he who reveals the true face of the toy seller. Although for all his activities, the director puts on the background, showing mainly the girl and his relationship with the puppeteer.
Mugi Kadowaki is the main character. Of course, a Japanese horror film will not be Japanese unless it features an unhappy young woman with a tragic past that is shrouded in mystery and suffering. All of this is described again in this picture. For me, the actress seemed too emotional and playful.
In general, "Nightmaries" is a multifaceted film that raises complex issues and makes you think again and again about what is happening around.
