Unlike American fighters, there was no usual shooting, but the film turned out to be no less dynamic and meaningful. Drama and intrigue, also, on the level: Orlando Bloom has always been a master of playing romantic heroes, and here he turned out to be even more effective than everyone thought. He made a mess with fights, chases and, noticeably, did not arrange any major car accidents (apparently, for ethical reasons).
In general, neither Orlando Bloom nor the cast were pumped up and together they shared how to “value time”. Among other things, they arranged a wonderful advertisement for sellers of quadcopters and showed their capabilities in conducting large-scale shootings. The plot is built on the traditional bargaining, where we noticed some similarities with the “Bodyguard of the killer”, with several modified motifs of the characters, where a certain zodiac vase of 4,000 years of history, nicknamed the “soul of China” was in its center. All this trade with thefts, the return of reputation, hostages, juicy seasoned, all sorts of replicas, where the “woman in red” (apparently from the “Triad”) gave very interesting instructions on how to love, so as not to waste energy in the empty (apparently implying the Chinese “Qi”). The film was a success overall. I suggest you watch it.
Once on the Internet, I saw an announcement, and it hooked me and despite the conflicting reviews, mostly negative, I decided to look.
The main character is Daniel Stratton, the head of a highly qualified group of specialists who are hired for security to transport historical values. But one day, Danny and his team lose a Van Gogh painting. And Stratton's whole life goes awry. First the beloved girl leaves, then the business almost collapsed. A year later, he and his team are hired to transfer an ancient Chinese vase to London. This is where Danny saw an opportunity to get his reputation back and fix it. As usual, everything goes wrong...
I expected something more exciting, but it didn’t work out. It is immediately clear that the Americans did not participate here, since in some moments, the plot is too direct, without much intrigue. And the fighting scenes are poorly staged, it could be cooler. But there are certainly advantages to the film. Orlando Bloom, for example. He's good, and surprisingly, I like him here. I love him as Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. And I didn't think I'd like him anywhere else. Although he’s not bad at Lord of the Rings, he’s still not as catchy as his role in Pirates.
Mostly the cast is Asian, which immediately makes it clear whose production. The film is also better suited to China than the United States. Many things would have been better.
In general, the film did not cause any emotions, not positive, not negative. A movie for once, watch and forget.
Orlando Bloom is not suitable for this role. Absolutely. Someone cooler and more charismatic was needed here, but definitely not Bloom. This is the color of your hair!
In general, a good action movie came out, quite a drive, with a lot of use of any modern equipment. But so I said 'Wow!' after watching - not even close. It was painfully simple at times. There were races, fights, drama, but there was not that highlight that catches and does not let go to the end. In the Carrier with Jason Statham, you can, for example, highlight his rules, which he honored and observed, and here ... The average action movie, of which dozens come out every year. I watched it and soon forgot.
In general, I want to note that the composition of the film is similar to Jackie Chanovsky. He also often meets in films antiques, waving hands and feet, several mediocre partners. In fact, the ending is in his style. I don't know if Chan is too old for that role.
The plot is standard - there is a certain thing that is chased by everyone who is not lazy. In principle, it was always quite funny and fascinating, remember at least the incredible adventures of Italians in Russia, when everyone ran like a burnt-out in search of treasure. It was possible to stand out the scale of what was happening, but it did not work out here either. The spectacle is not bad, but it is painfully cliched and clearly wanted to brew on the glory of the Stathamovsky Carrier.
The movie could have saved a lot of humor. But the creators clearly wanted to present their creation as a serious spectacle, so they made all the characters too serious, even though I think a lot of them are pretty stupid. Well, the director and the writers didn't finish! It could have been a good show, but alas!
But I didn't get bored watching. So I think the film is good. I will say this - pass the evening is fine!

The story of a carrier fulfilling orders for the transportation of various antiques and expensive art objects from point A to point B. More precisely, not about one, but about a small group of carriers, where each has its own role. No, not everyone. O. Bloom plays the leader of this gang. He is more likely to play than play. There is no script to play in this film. It's not entirely the fault of the actors.
As for genre affiliation, before us is a pure action movie. There's nothing more there. Comedies are so sure, even though it is listed. I haven’t noticed a joke or a funny situation. There is no dramatic component necessary to demonstrate rich acting skills. There is a love line between the main character and his girlfriend, but these characters do not show how much they love each other. They don't show emotion, there's no chemistry between them. The fact that they are a couple stems from their dialogue, of which there are only two in the entire film. You don’t have to worry about the main character.
By the way, the dialogues here are also bad, uninteresting, empty, banal. Half can be safely passed by the ears. There is an action in the film, but not to say that it is cool. He's well set, there's chases, there's hand-to-hand. They are ordinary, banal, like dialogue and plot, and do not cause any admiration. I can forgive a lot for a good action. And even if I kill you, I don't understand why almost no one in the whole city has a gun. As if this is medieval China, everyone here prefers hand-to-hand combat. This is strange, because the film takes place in our time, and the groups of people appearing there are on the other side of the law. Much could be compensated due to the cool action scenes, but this element of the film does not take out. The same goes for the characters. No one has backstory, depth, any contradictions, no one evokes special feelings, not even the main character.
This picture is a regular one-time passer. Banal, predictable in terms of plot, script, dialogue, uninteresting in terms of action and characters. And O. Bloom is there to sell face, on this occasion recalls last year's Chinese film The Great Wall, only there was M. Damon, the same story. Once you can see, it is unlikely that the tape will cause a gag reflex, but special positive impressions also, most likely, will not leave.

Shanghai Carrier is an action movie featuring Orlando Bloom. Despite the good image of the main actor, as well as the all-consuming action, I doubt that the film was exciting. Rather, it is such a predictable “dummy”, focused primarily on the inhabitants of China, in which Orlando was assigned the role of “wedding general”. It is not surprising that the Chinese audience liked the project the most.
So Orlando Bloom here is like he's never been seen before. The actor reveals himself in action films. His character Danny was once on the wave of success in Shanghai, and the rich would summon him if they needed to translate something of value. But in the course of one case, everything went wrong and the carrier lost its cargo. Danny, of course, snubbed and repaired his shattered reputation, especially when a new business came up for him and his team: transporting a priceless Chinese vase. Yeah, things didn't go according to plan again, and Danny had run into these bandits before. It is time to clear your name.
The main problem of “Shanghai Carrier”, because of which I personally could not enjoy watching, was that the action film is almost completely lacking any depth and creativity. However, the results are somewhat better than you might think. The film is forgotten after watching almost immediately, but the work is interesting at least because it allows you to distract for an hour and a half in an undemanding manner.
First, the virtues. Strangely enough, but bribing the Chinese flavor. The action takes place mainly on the vast streets of Shanghai, which contrast with both skyscrapers illuminated at night and natural slums. Neon has become something of a distinctive design highlight nowadays in cinema (yes, "Explosive Blonde" comes to mind), but at least it's visually beautiful in "The Carrier." Action scenes alternate speed and drive, and everything is filmed from different angles. And Orlando Bloom returns faith in himself, as does his character. Before the incarnation of Jason Statham, of course, far away, but he has enough opportunity to show his physical form during combat scenes.
Otherwise, I would say it was a complete failure. The story unfolds predictably. For example, many of the antagonists were conceived as “unexpected villains”, but they can be brought to light the first appearance on the screen. Second, the various “complications” that keep Danny and his friends from delivering the package are textbook. Slower moments of the film tend to slide into bad dialogues with flat characters. This is especially true of the romantic line: there is simply no strong connection between the characters, so there is no incentive to cheer for them until the end of the film.
In addition to the above advantages and disadvantages, the Shanghai carrier has another factor that can be treated differently. The fact is that the film itself feels like a kind of tribute to the action films of a decade ago, when the emphasis was on chases and martial arts, broken bones, etc., but without bloodshed. After the shootouts, the hero only shakes off, and the villains wipe their broken noses. Today, “Logan,” “John Wick,” and “Explosive Blonde” offer a more mature spectacle, both in terms of visuals, ideas, and character content. If, however, the viewer is ready for something less ambitious, opportunistic, smooth and outdated, then there is the Shanghai Carrier for this. Personally, I wasn't ready, so the score:
There's a movie and there's an order. Sometimes in a particular state there comes a time when someone, in an effort to earn money or a desire to raise their film production to a new level, creates custom projects, often according to the templates of the most successful - namely Hollywood. The same story came out with the film “Shanghai Carrier”. Classic order with Chinese funding and British contractors. 30 million green in the budget, expensive cars, Chinese actors, a trivial plot and Painted Orlando Bloom against the backdrop of the beauty of Shanghai on the poster and ready.
In the story, the main character Danny, performed by Bloom, is a private carrier of antique products and works of art. Danny has a professional team, a beautiful bride and everything goes very well, until one of the failed operations does not let everything derail. But after a while, the hero gets a second chance.
The first thing you can notice when viewing is the picture licked to shine. A wonderful camera work plays the role of a guide to the beauty of the former capital of China. Highly developed and beautiful Shanghai impresses with the brilliance of skyscrapers by day and neon light by night. All this is accompanied by luxury frames: expensive cars, fashionably dressed Chinese, nightclubs, prestigious neighborhoods, beautiful women. You can see where the lion’s share of the budget went. And against the backdrop of everything Orlando Bloom, literally trading face in every frame. It is a trader, an acting game that is not particularly called. And such a magnificent actor, apparently, is best aware of what adventure he takes part in, and therefore does not try hard, although he looks colorful with a long-out of fashion coloring. This is where the pluses of the picture end. Then, thanks to good dynamics, action follows - mainly chases. Car chase, walk chase. Periodically skip scenes of hand-to-hand fights, generally good, but from champions in the production of kung fu films on an industrial scale you expect much more. All exclusively with bare hands. And feet. The budget was obviously short on props and there are no weapons in the film at all. Somewhere in the middle and end of the picture you can see a lonely and sad knife. Police without guns, criminals without guns and that's a little discouraging.
As a result, we have an inconclusive fake with a weak script, uncharismatic heroes and oriental luxury. In such works, the chance of success is like on Ali Express: maybe lucky, maybe not and, definitely, this time the fake was slipped to the Chinese and in their place I would demand money back.
+: Orlando Bloom and the beauty of Shanghai.
-: It's anything but a movie.
China is certainly one of the most key “players” in the modern world of cinema. Not only bringing perhaps the most impressive box office to numerous blockbusters and almost luring more and more new filmmakers with their new work. But at the same time, experiencing a real rise in activity and popularity over the past few years at least. Willingly delighting the audience even with the appearance of an impressive number of eminent and American actors. A similar way to bribe the viewer decided and the director of this tape Charles Martin.
The plot of this film directed by Charles Martin is a classic scenario denouement of numerous paintings of the genre of adventure action movie. Concentrating the story around an unexpected incident that not only changes the life of the protagonist once and for all, but also turns him into a loser. Something absolutely similar was even in the relatively recent “Killer’s Bodyguard” directed by Patrick Hughes.
It is due to this secondary, all screen events and plot twists are easily foreseen long before the appearance on the screen. Similarly, secondary and perhaps even superficially developing on the screen and the central love line, which in my opinion seems here absolutely superfluous and even inappropriate.
Salvation in this case comes in the person of the director Charles Martin, who survived the maximum juice from such a secondary and superficial scenario. The film turned out to be very beautiful and stylish. Fully realized as a full-fledged and long-lasting video clip, rather than a feature film. However, in this case, it is not even a bad thing.
The director of the film Charles Martin managed to shoot a very light film, which is very easy and simply “adopted” when watching. Without excessively loading the brain, without overloading it with excessive dramaturgy and simply contributing to light and “burning” pastime. Unless, willingly highlighting the picture with a decent and inventive staging of action scenes, which add to the picture the main points of dignity.
The star of "Lord of the Rings" Orlando Bloom played quite tolerable. The best roles of the artist are far behind us. But despite this, Bloom looks quite authentic in its on-screen image and quite pulls the film. Not bad played Simon Yam, Hannah Quinlivan and U Lay. However, poorly written characters do not allow the actors to play out in full force. A similar “disease” suffers and Lynn Hoon, which is not revealed beyond the typical image of the “girlfriend of the main character”.

Shanghai Carrier is an absolutely passable and rather average film, which does not stand out from most modern films. Repulsing the passing and worn-out plot, but willingly delighting with the traditionally clip manner of filming, not a bad action and not a bad game by Orlando Bloom. Let's have a little bit of "older."
The plot of the film tells about the carrier, but not about the one who has three rules, a bald man and a faithful friend in the person of the inspector Tarconi, but about the Legolas / Will Turner, who dyed himself white and transports various values. During one of these transports, he is robbed and the blame is blamed on him. As a result, a series of problems and only one attempt to restore reputation.
All this action is filled with various clichés. The main characters are not particularly catchy, Orlando Bloom plays quite tolerable, the same can be said about the other actors. The plot twists do not try to surprise and are easily calculated.
Much better is the case with action and staging. Great panoramas, lots of fights and explosions. Some fights are average, but closer to the final there are moments shot in one take with a very good production. Car accidents are done well, almost the level Furious.
What is it about the middle class? Well, first of all - naivety, simplicity, lightness and comedic component. Unlike the same "Adventurers" where there was an attempt to make a complicated plot, this is not the case here. In some places, the heroes laugh at themselves and it looks ridiculous. The clichés are not infuriated here, unrealistic is absent (at least in terms of technique, than the "Adventurers" very sinned). Where you want to find fault with the film - do not want to do this, unlike "Adventurers" in which I until the last tried not to notice the minuses that climbed from everywhere.
Operator work and installation of complaints do not cause, the musical accompaniment is selected perfectly, each composition is good and adjusts the desired rhythm.
One of the advantages of the film is its fast rhythm. Given the timeline of 1:30:00, the film is full of different events, which makes it dynamic and unlikely to get bored.
The result is a lightweight, entertaining, disposable, comedy action movie that doesn’t pretend to be serious or real. This is a great way to improve the evening after work. No more is required of him.
The film consists of a set of clichés, amazes with the bright urban landscapes of Shanghai and is performed in some ala comic style.
It is disappointing that although the film, in addition to Orlando Bloom, involves Chinese actors and the action takes place in Shanghai, behind the scenes sounds Western indie music.
The film is frankly weak, the plot sags, and only Orlando Bloom saves the picture from despondency with his charm. The film is declared as a comedy, but there are one or two really funny moments here, no more.
Characters, although they cause sympathy and some are even funny, but, unfortunately, underdeveloped and flat.
The dialogue of the villain with the main character about what is more important - love or money.
There was a feeling that the film was made hastily to attract tourists to Shanghai / make a little money on the movies.
The film is suitable for those who want to pass the time under popcorn and light action. If you are waiting for a movie with meaning or an interesting plot, pass by.

I liked the movie. Orlando Bloom is amazing. Once again, he proved how talented, versatile, versatile actor he is and how well he has professional skills and performs the vast majority of stunt stunt stunts in the film. No wonder he is praised by the most serious stuntmen with whom he works. His control over the language of the eyes and body movements is always a top aerobatics. Thanks to his talent, the highest acting school and brilliant experience, he can play serious, deep roles (I really want to see Romans!) and easily cope with the entertainment genre (this film is another example) and create a lively, bright character regardless of the quality of the script. I respect that he always goes his own way in art. My rating of "10 out of 10" in this film is absolutely him.
The plot of the film is simple, sometimes naive. It’s not clear why the film’s age rating is 16+. A cute, light entertainment film designed for a teenage and young audience. The panoramas of the city are very beautiful.
The film is difficult to attribute to one genre: adventure, action, thriller, melodrama, comedy, drama - all this found its place in the film.
It is a pity that the film was unlucky with distributors – so many screens (5 cinemas in Moscow with 1 screening per day!) Seriously?!), the lack of advertising on TV and publicly available information for the general public will not collect any cashier. I think the film deserves more. At least because despite the chases and fights, he does not leave the feeling of aggression poured on the viewer. This has been a rarity lately.
For those who are tired of dirt, politics and lots of blood and the same performers on screen, this movie is for you!

Recently, many famous actors have decided to try themselves in the action of a pure spill and partially change the established intelligent role. Liam Neeson brilliantly showed his fighting skills in the trilogy “Hostage” and continued to exploit the suddenly appeared energy in similar genre paintings. Kevin Costner, having reached a serious age threshold, did not deny himself the filming of 3 Days to Kill, an ironic action movie that requires the actor to have amazing endurance and the ability to go to the set at any time of the day. And now it is the turn of handsome Orlando Bloom to pick up a gun and show everyone what it is worth. No, of course, we've seen Bloom in action more than once. The Pirates of the Caribbean and the Lord of the Rings. But that he so quickly managed with firearms, martial arts and cars, as in the “Shanghai Carrier”... This has never happened before!
The main character of the film, agent of a private security company David Stratton, played by Bloom, gets along with his companions a very serious task. They need to transport a valuable historical artifact worth several tens of millions from China to London. And this in itself hints at the dangers that can happen to the guards and the artifact itself along the way. But since David is not used to refusing lucrative contracts, he is ready to devote himself entirely to tasks, not suspecting that fate has prepared for him.
A group of criminals decide to seize the relic before it reaches its destination and get their way, leaving David Stratton with nothing. But he is not going to sit idly by. Maybe he has a difficult period in life, but the fire in his eyes did not go out, and his hands have not yet forgotten how to break bones and send opponents to the next world. Joining forces with loyal comrades, David will still remind himself and show that it is not worth crossing his road.
“Shanghai Carrier” is a rattling mixture of irrepressible action movie, caustic comedy and drama, which at least exists, but does not take on the main attention. The story unfolds without stopping or slowing down. The creators simply do not have time for this, because they needed to please us with the action of the highest class, and they did not let their viewer down by issuing an hour and a half of selective adrenaline. Around the main character, something is constantly exploding, he gets into trouble and in general will not let us get bored. Orlando Bloom brilliantly continued the Neeson and Costner case. In addition, he is still young and full of strength, which means that we will see him again in such a successful and memorable role.
My bottom line: Shanghai Carrier ignites at full capacity and drives forward without brakes. This is a great entertaining film that can relax us. Sometimes such stories are simply necessary, because they are completely not boring and even able to surprise.
