I don't know, but for a budget of 3 million euros, I don't think it's bad. In some places, it may be unsightly, but the film is low-budget and playful, tells about survival and what it really was during the fascist Reich, of course, modern screenwriters, directors, have, for the most part, to think up for themselves, not to mention the actors, who, in addition to the fact that they should know the script well and interspersed with their own lives, still need to convincingly get used to their characters with an understanding of what they are playing for, that is, what the film is about, what they are saying, and what they want to say, throwing out certain emotions in accordance with the director’s expectations. It’s probably not that easy.
With realism and atmosphere, with such a budget, of course, you will not go far, but thanks to the excellent acting and verified script, the film loved. Stefan Weinert is a real Soviet, and Mark Clotet may not be a chess player, but he is similar. There is such a breed of actors who especially and do not need to try to convincingly play and the last, it seems, among them. The movie is definitely not bad.
