When there is no Reddington... Blacklist is a very popular series about a criminal named Raymond Reddington. Reddington cooperates with the FBI and gives them dangerous criminals. He has only one condition: he only talks to Elizabeth Keen. The series is so popular (primarily thanks to the incredible James Spader) that it was decided to remove the spin-off. Which is called the Black List: Redemption.
Tom Keane (aka Jacob Phelps, aka Christopher Hargrave) is the main character here. Rayne Eggold's character in Atonement tries to get to the truth. Namely, is Susan Hargrave of Galzion his mother and what she's up to? And while Tom is trying to figure it out (Kean is worried, since he is far from home, and he has a little daughter wife there), interesting facts about his father, Howard, surface.
It was interesting. From the main cast of the Black List in Redemption, we saw Tom Keane, Megan Boone (aka Elizabeth Keane) and Harry Lennix (played by Harold Cooper). Unfortunately, the audience did not see Raymond Reddington. But there were other characters. The likes of Susan Hargrave (played by Famke Janssen), Mathias Solomon (Edi Gathegi) and Nez Rowan (Tony Cypress). And if Famke (X-Men) and Tony (Remember Everything with Carrie Wells) played on a level, then Edie Gatega's performance impressed. I remember him from Dr. House. He played a pretty good doctor there. Immediately he plays a ruthless agent with a difficult fate, ready to carry out any order.
After the first season, the series was closed, as the creators of the Black List officially announced. Unfortunately, the proper level of the spin-off did not support, but there were moments that caused not only interest, but also a smile. For example, a scene with Solomon as a plumber in one of the episodes. And yet – in the end, we have a pretty good series, with interesting actors and quite a tolerable plot. Yes, without the voice of Spader, the series is not the same, but it is still worth watching. Especially since the series reveals some answers to the past life of Tom Keane. For it's not just Elizabeth Keen who has secrets in the past. But also her husband.
8 out of 10
There were hints of a sequel in the last series. Unfortunately, this was not enough.
At the end of the day, I'll celebrate the music. She was not in every episode, but she maintained the proper level of the series.
