Parabola erotic rake - Hello, I am an honest politician! “Hello, I’m a virgin prostitute!”
Approximately such a caricature comes to mind when viewing the documentary film “Wiener”, confirming the general rule – reality is much more interesting and absurd than fiction. Is it possible to imagine in reality an American congressman caught in a sex scandal, decided after that to return to politics, run for mayor of New York, and then again get caught in a sex scandal? Oh, and his surname is not spelled “Winner” (“winner”), but “Wiener”, evoking associations with the slang word for “penis”!
In the midst of the current political struggle in the United States, when almost daily in the press there is “kompromat” on Clinton, then on Trump, the story of Wiener seems an innocent prank – well, he liked to sometimes send some stranger his intimate photos. You even begin to feel sympathy for the hero – here he gathers another press conference to discuss his election program, and he once again – about these damn photos. But compassion is quickly replaced by squeamishness, man, what's wrong with you? If you like dirty things on the Internet, do not get involved in politics, and do not involve your wife. After all, it is painful to watch Wiener’s wife with a stone face read to journalists on a piece of paper another election speech edited by a PR manager.
It wasn’t just about dirty politics and dirty politics. It's more of an obsession movie. Obsession with his own passions - Wiener knew what it was to get burned "on hot", and could not resist not to step on the same "erotic" rake again. He knew that his reputation was not worth a dime, but he convinced himself, his wife, and his campaign that he was “the best candidate.” I saw that he had zero chances of winning, and still smiled at the camera until the last day — until election day, when his wife simply refused to go with him to the polling station.
So "Wiener" is a vivid story of the fall, which began as a story of takeoff. Typical parabola. What makes Wiener worse than all the others, by being caught? Or that his last name is bad? And what does any candidate, any pre-election poster stand for after that, which will necessarily have an honest, open, smiling face on it? Another "winner" who thinks he's a "winner." In fact, it might just be a Wiener...
