God forbid anyone to get into this situation. The film made a lasting impression on me. The film, also based on real events, tells the story of three girls (from Nigeria, India and the United States), who fell into sexual slavery by chance. Underground brothels still exist even in modern countries like America. Where demonstrations for women’s rights rage, feminists drag their bosses through the courts for harassment, legislation and society itself are actively changing in this direction, there are places where women’s rights cause only laughter.
And to get to this terrible place, from where there is almost no way out, can absolutely any girl. Of course, the less socially protected it is, the easier it is to cover up its loss, but sometimes even those who have someone to stand up for, who live in prosperous families, study and work are kidnapped. It was just unfortunate to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or even worse, it is unfortunate to have a heated snake nearby, which will deliberately contribute to such a development of events.
All this is very scary, and watching how the lives of girls change after they move to a brothel is incredibly difficult. Among them are those who have managed to adapt to a new life, to accept, and there are those who are willing to do anything to get out of this hell, no matter what the cost of each attempt to escape. You look and your heart shrinks. You look and shake your head, not understanding how this is possible in our time.
You can scold this movie for being low-budget, for having better characters, but it doesn't make sense when you realize that everything that's shown here actually happened, and it's still happening somewhere else today, right now, as you're reading this. I’m not sure I’ll recommend this movie, but I think few people will regret having the courage to watch it.
