Above the sky Even the most knowledgeable professional journalist will find it difficult to calculate how many cases of so-called alien abduction are recorded on our planet every year. In the press, on television, and even more so in the global network, there is a myriad of mentions of people right in their house or on the street, some invisible force pulls to the sky, after which some manipulations take place on spaceships, the mystery of which is simply impossible to investigate. But no matter how many such incidents are described in the media, humanity still cannot say with certainty that even some of them are actually true. Many scientists claim that mental illnesses have spread in civilized society, which are inextricably linked with the development of scientific and technological progress, which replaced long-standing paranormal beliefs with something fantastic and frightening. There are also cases when people cornily attract attention, hoping with their stories to book a seat on TV shows and get access to major publishers. However, while there is no solid evidence that absolutely all witnesses of alien interference in the measured life of mankind, it is nothing more than sick people and liars, the given topic will be at the top of popularity for a long time and a variety of films and TV series will be shot on its basis, doomed to increased attention. Of course, few people can compete in terms of popular love and intrigue with the X-Files & #39; Chris Carter, and yet on a well-trodden art path rushed a lot of enthusiasts, including Fulvio Sestito, who put a tape called 'Beyond the Sky' Also known in our country as 'Secret files: Above the sky & #39;.
The plot of the film introduces us to the young documentary filmmaker Chris Norton (Ryan Carnes), who had to face a difficult psychological trauma in the distant past. The thing is that once the mother of the hero disappeared without a trace, and the father (Peter Stormare) is one hundred percent sure that she was kidnapped by aliens. Chris himself is in no hurry to believe such assurances and believes that the father is just comfortable to believe in such a truth, because he can not accept that his wife just took and ran away from family obligations. Over the years, Chris’s beliefs have only grown stronger, and he is no longer able to stand by as people believe that their loved ones are being carried into space for the sake of some inexplicable experiments. In this regard, Chris decided to put his own documentary about the so-called “Contactors” & #39; while going to the state of New Mexico, where the annual convention of UFO lovers and everything related to them. Chris is going to reveal the essence of the event from all possible angles and bring his audience to the only logical conclusion, namely that there are no abductions by aliens. However, a meeting with Emily Reed (Jordan Hinson) suggests that he may be wrong. Emily claims that aliens come to her every seven years and manipulate her. And as the next end of the cycle approaches, Chris decides to do everything possible to capture on camera what is about to happen.
Such films often do not have large budgets, they are independent and shot mainly for Ogo, to their creators drew the attention of major producers who are able to give ambitious young filmmakers a ticket to the big movie. Of course, in 'Secret files: Above the heavens & #39; there is some simplicity and experimentation, and nevertheless it must be admitted that Fulvio Sestito made a rather interesting, partly even deep and reasonable film that tries to reason not only about UFOs. The director tries to show us how this or that incident affects the character and outlook of a person. Even a trifle can determine the future, not to mention when a child loses his mother at a very young age. Here it is also important how to act in a similar situation, the close person who remains nearby, in this case the father of the main character. We are shown the mistakes that he made and it also did not affect Chris in the best way, because despite all the parental beliefs, the father was obliged to smooth out the influence of his inner demons on the child, but it was not done in the best way. Thus, the tape brings to the surface much more dramatic and intriguing than it may seem and at least for this Fulvio Sestito must be given credit.
As for the technical aspect of the production, he, quite logically, flirts with the manner of pseudo-documentary shooting in order to bring what is happening on the screen to real realities and thereby captivate the viewer headlong into his narrative. However, it should be noted that the director does not strive to shoot his "Secret Files" & #39; exclusively in an amateur documentary style. Part of the film is presented in a stable artistic manner, which, of course, partially destroys the magic of naturalism, and yet viewers have long been impossible to convince of the authenticity of the events. This could have happened during the first 'Paranormal phenomenon' or 'Witches from Blair' but since then, a myriad of pseudo-documentary films have appeared and it became finally clear to everyone that the presented materials belong to the category of entertainment and it is not worth looking for truth in them in the only true instance. Therefore, the experiments of the director with the manner of shooting are not at all annoying and can even be considered justified. But the actors sometimes lacked persuasiveness, and this concerns, among other things, the performers of the main roles. The guys are not yet the most famous and it is clear that they do not have much experience, and yet they could show a little more believable emotions in the most necessary scenes. This is especially true of Rayne Carnes, who is certainly playing quite well, and yet he still has a lot to work on if he wants to continue to get leading roles. But who delighted and impressed only one of his professionalism, gained over the years, is Peter Stormare. Maybe his role is rather modest, but he coped with it as it was necessary, while setting an example for young people.
In conclusion, I want to say that 'Secret files: Above Heaven & #39; are an example of a good independent fantastic horror with a detective-dramatic bias. Its creators did a good job, and maybe not everything turned out at the highest level, and yet the film is worth the attention of the audience, which is close to such a genre.
