Not the mysterious story of Auro The movie "Daddy" was placed by me in the list of must-see. I couldn’t wait to see it because I thought it was too heavy and sad. But once again I was pleasantly surprised by the skill of the Indians, how they are able to fit a complex and difficult story evenly into the pleasant course of the plot so that you get all the thought and idea that the plot carries, but do not feel the weight of what you see, but on the contrary, you are filled with light, good and hope.
12-year-old Auro lives with his mother and grandmother, goes to school, plays with friends, experiences his first successes and defeats - lives the full life of a child, albeit in an incomplete family. What's so amazing about that? Of course, nothing if it is a healthy child. But Auro is ill and has a rare genetic condition called progeria. The film tells about the life of a boy without skewing on his peculiarity, without twitching on the severity of such a fate, shows the resilience of both mothers and grandmothers who do not make him a disabled person, but support in him the desire to be an ordinary child, protect him with their care. And the child responds to them with his carelessness and naive childish wisdom. His peculiarity is not only in his illness, but also in a special view of the world, he has a lively mind and a lot of energy, he is very kind and it is just human good he spreads to others. It is loved not only by relatives, but also by peers in school, teachers.
Where did he come from, who was his father, and why not with them? Scared? History will answer all these questions.
I liked the film from beginning to end, the story is complete, finished, the characters are interesting in themselves, and especially in interaction. It would seem that the film raises too many questions: the lives of children with a rare disease, the problems of single mothers, political struggle and dirty tricks, the lies and venality of the press, the problems of slums, etc.
But this is not so, the director only showed the situation, and what is the real problem, and what is a temporary difficulty leaves the viewer to judge. It is pleasant when the viewer is trusted so much that they give freedom of vision, when they do not push their opinion under their noses.
The plot, the dialogue, the development - all great. Humor and tragedy intertwine, twist and become one whole, the dialogues are capacious, but without unnecessary pathos.
The work of the cameraman was pleasant, and of course the work of make-up artists. So hide Mr. Bachchan, bravo!!
The acting is wonderful, easy, natural, which indicates a serious approach. Nobody pulled a blanket, everyone looked whole.
I would like to talk about the cast.
Amitabh Bachchan (Auro) proved that he is a master not only of Indian cinema, but a master of world scale. So transform from an old man into a teenager! Hat off! His Auro did not turn out to be too small or too old, even his rather high height due to the filing was not noticeable. All the concentration of the image was concentrated in the actions, manners, vocabulary and behavior of the hero. And if I did not know in advance that it was Mr. Bachchan, or did not know who Mr. Bachchan is, everything was not that the actor is not more than 20!
Vidya Balan (Vidya, Auro’s mother) showed a real woman, resistant to the blows of fate, filled with life no matter what. She was able to convey the love that her heroine felt for her son, she managed to show the inner work of the heroine, from the moment of meeting with Auro’s father to the last minute of her son’s life. Vidya was natural, which is very bribery. I have met many mothers who have children with serious illnesses, and all have their own stories, their own diagnoses and difficulties, and women are very different. But they have one thing in common - that loving responsibility for their children, not only in terms of their physical health, but also moral health. And this moral health can be maintained only by your own example of endurance, wisdom, simplicity to yourself and others, love, positivity and that quiet struggle for life, the only possible in such situations. These mothers never ask for anything from anyone, they develop a plan of life and struggle for their child. They rarely lose faith in goodness, love, and life itself, because without it they could not. And Vidya did it! I believed her, she did not cause pity, only a feeling of admiration. Well done!
Abhishek Bachchan (Amol, Auro’s father, politician) has grown up, gained experience and confidence. If you look at the pictures with his participation in chronological order, you can see the period of his formation as an actor. There is still room to grow and work on. His face and eyes, untouched by any emotions, in this film are played in a new way. In his hero there is a calm confidence in his own abilities, in his rightness, in his intentions, he is firm and honest. There were no love scenes between a man and a woman, there were love scenes between a father and a son. Those mixed feelings of squeamish surprise, feelings of shame for his surprise and squeamishness succeeded perfectly when he saw Auro for the first time. His Amol turned out to be a real man, firm, honest, not perfect, but able to admit his mistakes and ready to correct them. If only all politicians were like that.
Arundathi Nag (Auro’s grandmother) is above all praise, I will highlight her especially, since her Bam came out as a very touching and wise woman, she traced the shadow of the life that existed before Auro, and also the vitality of spirit and heart, readiness to do everything for the happiness of her relatives. A real grandmother, kind, touching in her attempts to laugh, sweet in caring, and wise in advice. Excellent acting.
I really liked the kids! Indians have great kids always come out, natural and simple, which is bribing rather than repulsive. Self-sufficient children come out. I liked Amol’s opponent, I don’t know the actor’s name, but I really liked his image, so repulsive and this is beautiful.
I also want to note the idea of the voiceover of the credits at the beginning of Jaya Bhaduri, I really love this actress, she is always very sincere and touching, as the quintessence of maternal love and care. For me, she is associated with the concept of “Mother India”, and her touching emotions when she listed the crew members are beautiful.
I always advise everyone, if you want to get rid of melancholy, get a charge of positive, release the accumulated tension, again believe in love, in life, in yourself - watch Indian films. They are the only ones who still have this sincere message to the viewer, not particularly burdened by the commercial component!
The film is required to watch
