The Village Adventures of a Rich Widow or Italy as It Is I have watched many Italian classic films. There are very few films that are really worthy and most importantly, acceptable for people who have intelligence. Not like five-year-olds. This film is designed for the intelligence of the child (sorry for such a comparison). Only a true and loyal fan of Gina Lollobrigida can watch this.
The plot itself is not different from other Italian films of that time: A young and blossoming widow, returning from distant America to her homeland in her native Italy, causes a complete stir in her native village, when all the inhabitants (especially the male population) realize that this signora is a free woman for marriage. Many people have plans for the future, but...
It's pretty boring and predictable. Italians do not know how to think about anything other than sex, marriage, love affairs outside of marriage or just running after someone. Such are the Italians and their themes according to their conceptions.
I personally only watched this movie because of Vittorio De Sica, but this film is not one that you can watch with his participation. His role here is mediocre and unsightly. De Sick has more worthy roles.
You can look at it once and that’s it.
