The case when the remake is not worse than the original. Let’s restore our good name!! << /i>
I'll explain. This idea formed the basis of all this event - the creation of a detachment to save a single village, where the bandit Dzhagir created lawlessness. Of course, this in itself is a good thing, you need to help people and other things. But it seemed to me that the members of the mission got involved in this because of themselves. Their conscience has been tormented for years. After all, at this age - and the youngest looked actor Danny Denzongpa, and everyone else was already under 60, it is difficult to get out of old sweatshirts (in this case - dhoti), take a rifle and go to war, and it is still unknown whether you will return alive or not. Therefore, the very act of the retired military is certainly worthy of respect. It’s a bit confusing, I’ll explain it in more detail:
17 years ago, Colonel Krishnakant Puri was accused of cowardice. During the battle, he did not engage with his troops. Or rather, he did not follow orders - did not blow up the house where the bandits were hiding. There he saw old men and children, pitying them. Later it turned out that the bandits were hiding there. But... No court could justify their cowardice. Puri appealed to the court for many years, was denied and denied acquittal. And when he already wanted to shoot himself from impotence, the daughter of a forester of one village, which was terrorized by Jagira, turned to him for help. The colonel agreed to help her. He and his former colleagues came to the village under the guise of a circus. Like, they're all clowns... It was funny at first. Where to fight the elderly... Everyone was weak and lethargic. But in the end, they still took up training and everything went right for them.
Torment of conscience is a great thing ... to justify themselves, people are willing to sacrifice their lives. Like that. There are individuals, really. And although director Rajkumar Santoshi in the film many times bent too much on the topic of patriotism, loyalty to Mother India (well, guys, it is already on the teeth!!!) and in general, grabbed many times over the edge, the film came out good. Sometimes, however, there was a sense of déjà vu being filmed in the same village as Revenge and the Law with Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. One-on-one scenery. But this film (this is my personal opinion) is more tragic than that. Here are shown the fate of colleagues who have lived for many years with a stone on their soul, tormented and secretly dreaming how to make amends... And years go by. In their old age, they were given such a chance. And although they did not believe in themselves, did not believe in the success of the event, they still dragged there. Conscience dragged them.
The actors played great ... a real star cast was filmed. I especially want to mention Oma Puri, Amrish Puri, Nasiruddin Shah. And Mukesh Tiwari, who played the bandit Jagir. Ooh. This is where the real negative hero is... vicious, bloodthirsty, unprincipled, vile... not the evil robber Barmaley, but much worse. Although the actors were already in the age, and still they had something to show. Watching the movie is a great pleasure. There are all sorts of moments... both comic and tragic. Both of them are equal. And although I am not a fan of this genre, I liked it.
P. S. And the beautiful Urmila danced with Amrish Puri... it’s worth seeing...
My assessment:
9 out of 10
