The city is rotting. I can't help but pay homage to an unknown enthusiast named Frank Sudol, who pulled out a full-length cartoon alone. Making animation, voice acting, editing and everything else is really hard work, and he’s just great. And I would be glad if the result of his work justified all these efforts, but... Alas.
City of Rott is incredibly boring. Terrifyingly, irreparably despondent, and with the realization of this fact, I sat for the entire 120 minutes that he was coming. I see that the author tried to make it interesting, with all the action scenes, blood, guts and so on. But even they begin to get bored because the measures in this Sudol does not know and does not want to know. This is the first movie in which I am tired of watching zombies be destroyed. Scenes with ruby go and go and there is no end in sight. The animation here is obviously poor and ugly. I know it was all done for very little money, but... I can't justify everything in this cartoon by saying, "Well, it's not bad for an amateur loner." I was just bored watching all this. The poverty of animation could stretch the direction, but Sudol is not someone who could pull off such a stunt. The dialogues of the characters are godlessly drawn out, the voiceover is so so much so, and the plot often tramples on one place and from the realization of its uselessness completely disappears from view, only occasionally reminding of its existence. It is unlikely that after watching you will be able to remember what the film was about. There was an old man looking for shoes... zombies... and something with worms in the water.
Sadly, the pluses of City of Rott can not be scraped by a whole paragraph. There are great sound effects here that make bloody scenes more lush. Nice background music. Despite the horrific animation, the bloody effects are pretty good. Well, that's it. There are no more merits and cartoon, and otherwise it is boring, meaningless and ugly. I respect Frank Sudol for his work, but I can only sum up all his work.
