Giving Sonny a Chance is a comedy series about comedians. It seems even funny at times, but to be honest: both laughter and sin.
Progressive sexism, which by the half of season two I could no longer stand, darkened all my hopes for a pleasant atmosphere and a good pastime. Sad.
The main character is Sunny Monroe, a provincial who moved to Hollywood, humorous and friendly. Yes, she knows how to stand up for herself and her rights, but often these attempts turn out to be failures, which makes you wonder: should this be done?
The most annoying thing is Tony Hart, a colleague and friend of Sunny. It gathered all the stereotypes about blondes - stupidity, emotionality, rather even hysteria, obsession with cosmetics and yourself. That's why? No, comedy show, that's understandable, but sometimes jokes get to the point of absurdity and indignation on my part.
Nico and Grady, also the participants of the show "How it happened!", are the main jokers, sexists and kind of nice guys, at times ...
It's also a shame for "Ched Dylan Cooper." As the main actor of a rival show, he was made almost antagonistic, narcissistic and arrogant. Again stereotypes and again the same blonde.
In general, the series left more negativity than real enjoyment. Stupid jokes, rather even banter, ridiculing other people's shortcomings, their hyperbolization, sexism. I was hoping for romance, humor and ended up with a nose.
Big disappointment in the series and Disney Channel.
Points in the assessment for the acting and separately for Selena.
It turned out that I started watching this series exactly 7 years ago, on the day of its release. Knowing Demi Lovato, I expected to see something funny, musical and childishly innocent. In the end, I only got the last one at its worst.
Plot. The whole story revolves around a cute rural girl, Sunny, who gets on the popular sketch show "Lucky." In general, the idea is quite common, but there is a place to turn around here, even if it is a children's and teenage series (an excellent example of this is "In the style of Jane"). But somehow, the creators decided to go the easiest way and turned a good idea into something ridiculous.
Characters. The main character, Sunny, throughout the viewing causes affection with his naivety, optimism, faith in the good, miracle and good people. And it would be so nice to watch her, if not annoying stupidity and ill-considered actions. Yes, you tried to make it funny, but the absolute stupidity of the character is not funny, but sad. Fools Nico and Grady, a strange little girl Zora, a typical blonde bitch Tony... All absolutely flat and uninteresting, there is no development. The only one who can be tolerated while watching is Ched, who develops at least a little and changes by the end of the season, falling in love with Sunny.
Actors. Honestly, Demi Lovato is not worth going to acting. Well, she can't play and transfer the character to the screen. All I saw was endless curvatures and a creepy smile that gave me goosebumps. And in general, in this series, almost every second actor is terribly overplaying. The only bright spots are Sterling Knight, Tiffany Torton and Genevieve Hannelius. They brought at least some naturalness to this plastic world.
Humor. I can't say he's not here. He is, just so stupid and flat that talking about him is just shameful. Probably, the writers really wrote everything “just like that.”
Audience. I have no idea what age category this series is for. Probably for very young children, although there are completely unchildish topics. Not for teenagers or adults.
The result: stupid, not funny, absurd and absolutely flat series, which was created as if hastily. I do not recommend it to anyone, waste precious time.
After reading the reviews (not lazy and read everything), I was honestly surprised. Why do so many people think the series is stupid?
I came across DSS by accident, naturally on the Disney Channel. I was very interested in this series.
The plot is unusual. We have already heard about the girls conquering Hollywood. But about the girls dreaming of acting in a comedy show (and only in it) we could not think.
Alison "Sunny" Monroe is a cheerful girl from the provincial town of Wisconsin. She comes to L.A. not to shine on the screens in the role of romantic ladies, etc., etc., and to star in his favorite show and meet his idols.
The heroine remains herself throughout all 2 seasons. She doesn't even have a melody on her phone, but a cow's moo. She also had a big smile.
"Chenny"
Chad and Sunny's relationship is one of the series' key lines. They sympathize with each other, but both do not admit it. Although hints of their feelings are quite frequent. Chad didn't sit on a chair during the game when Sunny pretended to fall. Chad told his friend on set that he thought Sunny was pretty. And remember the moment in the hospital (the series about tight jeans from Tony). Sonny cracked his pillow for a reason.
The show itself, for those who do not understand, is a parody of other shows. It doesn't have to be smart. There's no toilet humor in the series. Except for the episode where they filmed a parody of "McKenzie Falls" and called it "McKenzie Toilets."
And a bright addition to the series is Zorra Lancaster. She just captivated me with her glasses:
I'm your lawyer, Sally Jensen. I'm fighting for you!
I would have liked to be the highest, but no. It's like the ending isn't over, I'm a little upset.
You live, you read books and you think you're an adult, and then you carelessly watch this show. The sky above your head is the same, but you can no longer take yourself seriously.
"Sunny" has some wonderful component that sets it apart from a number of other similar sitcoms. Nothing unexpected, it would seem - there is one Ordinary Girl, slightly with a weirdo, she has a sworn friend, also not without a twist, other secondary characters, a beautiful boy - a standard soup set.
However, there are a couple of important points, and about them below.
There's development here, God forgive me. It's banal, but its rare pulse beats on the show's thin wrist. Here, for example, the boy Chad and the girl Sunny clashed at the beginning, and in the second season they started dating. For all these TV series about, how to put it more censoriously, fourteen-year-old rushing women is a small victory, because in all sorts of "Wizards" and "Montanas" sex symbols for heroines change like gloves. There is development, but there is no nauseating moralizing. Disney education is when the heroine does something not comilfo, and then with puppet eyebrows sadly utters quotes from popular psychology. The heroine Sunny is infinitely kind and soulful, the most terrible sin of her in my memory - "I did not want, the machine itself spit out the second bar for free!". Such a friendly aunt, from the benevolence of which the others and she herself constantly have some problems. In the Miley-Alex-Sunny triad, this heroine is the most pleasant, because she is devoid of selfishness and that infantilism, which, according to the writers, brings the other two together with small spectators.
Acting. Of course, you can spend a long time here, make some concessions to yourself, but I will try to be honest. And my truth is, Demi and Sterling Knight are very charming guys, and the others are less important to me in the overall standings than their organic couple. The rest – both old and young – they still play a little better than the population of the notorious “Wizards” and “Montana”.
Of the frank minuses, I can only cite the very show for which everyone gathered - "How it happened." Excerpts from the sketches, on which some episodes are tied, suggested that if the producers created this sketch misunderstanding as an independent project, they would face a momentary failure. When Sunny was shut down, it turned out that the thoughts were not groundless. Ostrosocial, deep stories about snot, a dog talking Tham-Sam-Mestom - you know, the gap between the cultures of Russia and America is too deep for this to be perceived.
All in all, the artistic value of "Give Sunny a Chance" comes down to the touching, funny and very chaste love story of Sunny and Chad, as well as some rare glimpses of humor. There are a few funny things about these guys.
Of the series of this format (and this, for a second, “Hannah Montana”, “Wizards of Waverly Place”, “Life of Zack and Cody”, “Jessie”, clouds of other content) only “Sunny” I can recognize fit. Although children are still not allowed to watch this, only we - a stronger mind, but a young soul sentimental young ladies without claims.
I do not want to repeat with past reviews, but I repeat – everything seems to have been said.
Give Sunny the best chance or one of the best Disney has ever produced. The plot, of course, is quite beaten, but played in such a way that you do not even think about it. It will not leave you indifferent!
The plot, as I said, is beaten. Sunny Monroe (Sunny Allison Monroe) whose name was Molly, then Holly and eventually became Sunny. Translate it to Sonny and it's literally the sun. It is true that this girl illuminates everything.
Sunny gets to her favorite show. Tonny the girl who was there first doesn't know why you need a new girl. Anyway. Soon she realizes that Sunny did not think to take away her fame. Soon Sunny meets with the “greatest actor of his generation”, the prototype of Tonny-Ched. However, from the very first minutes of their joint, it is clear that the two were created for each other. Afterwards, they will begin to meet.
The heroes certainly deserve attention. They are a little unusual and painfully comical! Sunny, Tonny and Cheda I described in the crations. I do not leave without attention Nico Harris and Grady Mitchell - an inseparable couple. They're a little nuts. However, they are pressing the highlight!
Zora Lancaster-and this is how her surname sounds in Russian smart girl. Not so much for her 11 she is a cute and talented creature, although it seems crazy!
Give Sonny a chance to have two seasons. Cut off abruptly. This is due to the departure of the main actress. While on tour with the Jonas brothers, Demi’s already deplorable story ends even more tragically – the girl gets treatment in the Psychiatric Clinic. After her release in February 2011, she stated that she decided to make only one music. That’s why it all ended (and then there was even a script). They say Sunny and Chad were supposed to make up. This is nothing more than a rumor.
Talk about American humor gases and vomiting. Despite the presence of this nasty it is very little and not so there it is and gorgeous, which makes the series very kind.
And finally, about Demi’s so-called ‘fake smile’ and supposedly ‘creepy’ laughter. Demi's smile isn't easy either. It has Spanish and Latin American roots. So to say, because of this mixture comes such a smile. It's natural! and it's a bit disgusting, but it's not Demi's voice! The original laugh is pretty cute.
In this series, Demi played a hundred. But still she is more a singer than an actress. one Skyscraper is worth what.
The other actors also played well. For example, Tiffany Thorton (Tonny Hart) perfectly coped with the role, breaking the image of an evil blonde. Sterling Knight (Ched Dylan Cooper) plays an egotist who tries to hide his love for Sunny. Allison Ashley Arm (Zora Lancaster) is just a talent. No coment!Doug Broshoo and Brendon Mikal (or Michael. in different sources in different ways) Well done Smith. So they played their role that it seems that they are no better in this life!
Anyway. My business is to push-and yours to watch and decide a good series or not!
