The film was actually shot great, looked with interest, the plot is saturated and filled with drive, but here is the final episode with Frost ..., for this I withdraw two points. . 8 out of 10. P.S. The rating given in 2014 was clearly not for this film. . .
Today, in an age when high technology reigns, and cinemas are occupied by all kinds of Marvel products, strong male action films with a minimum of computer graphics, but a maximum of natural action and spectacular visuals created due to real stunt tricks and pyrotechnics, as well as pleasing with bright male characters, forming such a tribute to the past - a rarity. The more valuable such films are when they are released in wide distribution, and there is an opportunity to watch such a tape in the cinema, which I did in the case of ' Access Code ' Cape Town'', which was released back in 2013, but it is worth looking at its cast, and it immediately becomes clear that ' Conspiracy Apartment' (Safe House, 2013) was the most anticipated film for me since the release ' Books of Eli' and, of course, the first viewing took place in the dark hall of the cinema.
Reviewing the film, I prefer to move away from the stupid translation of domestic localizers and call the tape by its name. And so, ' Conspiracy Apartment' pleasantly pleased from the beginning, recalling and ' Bone & #39; action movies of the 90s, and spy franchises in the style of Borniana, which also comes out under the auspices of Universal. Operator Oliver Wood, borrowed by Swede Espinosa from the same 'Borna' (and also known for 'Die Hards' and 'Jack Reacher' his work only strengthens the visual connection 'Conspiracy Apartment' with the Paul Greengrass franchise, turning his next brainchild almost into an aole sequel of a spy franchise about the misadventions of corrupt special services.
Really, it's more down-to-earth. No secret killer training programs - big money, big people, dirty secrets, defector spies and all sorts of young agents with a sad resume and poor work experience. Implemented all this combination is absolutely amazing, which can not but please. And in the course of watching the tape does not leave the feeling that it should have been Tony Scott.
The film gives the impression of a high-quality spy action movie, which came to replace 'Bourne' where Vera Farmiga plays Joan Allen from 'The Bourne Excellence', Sam Shepard a high-ranking asshole like Brian Cox or Scott Glenn from the same franchise. The same businesslike is Reynolds mentor Brendan Gleeson, playing himself from ' Do not take alive', and a couple of the main characters unexpectedly resemble the characters ' Training Day'. If you ignore the difference between spy and police themes, movies have a lot in common. Danzel Washington is just as brilliant with his villainous charisma (though not as simple with his character) as Ryan Reynolds shows his initial inexperience and naivety, changing as he interacts with the Washington hero. Their similarity with the heroes of Washington detective Alonzo Harris and newcomer Hoyt, played by young Ethan Hawke. Just like Hawke’s hero, Reynolds knows almost nothing about the true background of his service, about his colleagues, and has naive ideas about the CIA’s fight against evil in the name of democracy. What is the real evil and what the intelligence services are doing in reality, the young agent has yet to understand, having taken important life lessons from the best operative, and now a traitor and state secret trader Tobin Frost, from whom such an interesting mixture of Alonso from ' Training Day' and the hero Travolta from ' From Paris with love' was obtained. However, in Danzel Washington’s peculiar manner, he outplays many of his colleagues, including eclipsing the characters he looks like, while Washington’s charisma and work in this particular tape is not enough to outplay himself from the 2001 model. The same can be said about Reynolds - Deadpool here quite tolerably apologises for ' Green Lantern' manages to show the development of his character from a beginner to a normal agent, develops the chemistry of relations with Frost a la ' teacher-student', and, in the end, it is in the finale that he shows his maximum, and it is impossible not to be impressed with his diligence. Although it is Danzel with his charismatic smile and steely look that pulls all the audience’s attention, such artists as Yuel Kinnaman (series 'Murder'), Liam Cunningham (series 'Game of Thrones'), Robert Patrick ('Terminator 2'), Fares ('Target One') and many others.
As for action and visual - the highest score. Everything is natural, with a minimum of graphics and a maximum of tricks and pyrotechnics, explosions, chases, shootouts and fierce fights - all the muzzle reigning on the screen looks realistic, and the movie itself, thanks to the plot (not devoid of a couple of plot twists), does not turn into a thoughtless urchin. The grainy and sandy picture only emphasizes the beauty of African landscapes, confirming that Cape Town, where events unfold, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Spies, CIA, Americans who behave in other countries as masters. Although it is. It looked great, but the end wasn’t quite there. Not bad, though. Well, you can see it.
The film is one disappointment, as faded as its title. Of course there is a positive, but it is catastrophically inferior to absurdity. I can’t say anything bad about actors except for scenes with their inconclusive and inappropriate sobs. Even Robert Patrick managed to get involved in a small role.
Many questions arise from the story itself and the direction. To the Hollywood manners of the shootout, when shooting from a machine gun from 10-20 meters fall into anything, but not into a running person, the viewer has long been accustomed. Here, even when hit by a metal fence from bullets, fountains of dust remain, not sparks. How Reynolds raced among huts 3 meters from the shootout is simply not serious.
Israeli intelligence revealed top-secret CIA materials, in the CIA database there is a detailed dossier with all the data up to the location of all the criminals, they apparently just lazy to arrest them, one of these scammers had a chic house from the inside and a high-tech laboratory in the basement, and from the outside it looks like a hut.
The main character never showed his uniqueness as a CIA legend, the only thing he did less unusual was shoot one enemy on the move without looking. The motives for the aggressive actions of the second custodian of a certain estate are also not quite clear. And why the main characters were so friendly, as if during the editing cut out the key scene of their rapprochement. Cape Town appears only in the title and a couple of phrases, and in general, the place of what is happening has nothing special.

"Access Code" (originally - Safe House, i.e. a safe house where CIA agents can be buried) - a dynamic, muzzling and high-quality spy thriller.
In general, watching skilful films about the largest and most highly professional intelligence structure in the world is always interesting. (The CIA has the highest budget of any intelligence agency in the world.) However, its true size is classified.
Directing, camera work, music, play - almost everything is at its best. Questions only to the writer and his story. There is no moral as such in the plot, but there are a lot of blunders. It is not possible to specifically discuss the blunders of the scenario here, but conclusions can be drawn. The work of the CIA is presented in a more naive light than it really is. For example, this agency practices personal gps tracking of each employee. That is, the CIA monitors all its agents around the clock. Which means that some of the things in the story don't match that fact. As for the behavior of the obscene ex-spy, according to him, “killing only professionals”, it also suffers from illogicality. And this latter is the softest, as you can describe his role in the story. That is, before us it is a layman, and his death is only another confirmation of this evidence.
The finale is so indistinct at all and about nothing like “the life of the central hero succeeded”. So, the main conclusion regarding all the contradictions of the plot is that everything fits into a well-known pattern.

The peculiarity of a high-quality spy film is that the viewer does not understand a damn thing about what is happening on the screen, and the second one wonders how he could get confused in three pines. From the first minutes, the audience is dipped up to their ears in the most secret and mysterious events.
Suspicious faces with cannons flashed in the frame and concerned officials. Inscriptions of cities and exotic territories replace each other, following the movements of the main character, who invariably, even before the credits, manages to soak someone in the toilet. Characters exchange disturbing glances, cases, folders, CDs and digital media unknown to science flash from hand to hand.
Life flows so rapidly that after half an hour in the brains of the viewer gurgles porridge of names, events, appearances. In fact, nothing has changed since Stirlitz. Well, except that Pleishner is younger, and 33 irons on the windowsill replaced digital chips and sophisticated authorization systems. This is the Hollywood debut of the Swedish director Daniel Espinoza “Cape Town Access Code”, which is originally called “Safe House” or simply “Shophouse”.
... The work of a CIA agent can be routine and boring. Former Yale graduate and now low-ranking operative Matt Weston has been scrubbing his pants for a year on a secret house in Cape Town, South Africa’s second-largest city. He habitually lies to his girlfriend about civil work, and he sits in front of monitors for hours waiting for his finest hour or at least transfer to Europe. And this hour happens when the notorious CIA snitch Tobin Frost appears in the city.
Through his longtime acquaintance, a British intelligence agent MI6, Frost receives a mysterious miniature cone of data. And immediately comes under the crossfire of some bandit faces, whose goals are unclear, but the means are specific. Frost, of course, was an authority and hid from the owners of Langley for a long time, but then he was suddenly nailed and with a bag on a curly head was escorted to the very safe house, where the inexperienced Weston has spent the last 12 months a failed career.
No sooner did Frost have a good try, as uninvited guests break into the allegedly secret institution, led by an already familiar nosey crook. Here everyone suddenly died, and Weston, being a smart guy, did not take his turn to wait and, taking Frost in the trunk, effectively dumped.
Where and why Frost runs is unclear. One thing is clear, the agent challenged the system, and Weston is just a weak and crooked carnation, dreaming of becoming a strong bolt. Killing a guy is a sin, but Frost does not intend to surrender to the mercy of the CIA. He is clearly going to sell the information to the left, but to get rid of the annoying trainee does not work.
Whether Espinoza was one of the many directors of Bond or Bornian (the Jason Bourne franchise) or, at worst, Mission: Impossible, things could have gone a different way. And in the end it turned out like Chernomyrdin – “We wanted the best, but it turned out as always.” The enthusiasm of the young director, who did not know fame and handshakes on the red carpet, led him into the wilderness of terry stamps, where each frame evokes sadness with its predictability. Add to this the script written by the debutante, and it turns out that expectations were not met.
It is clear that the main bet of the authors of the film was made on the duet of bright characteristic actors - Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. And he, and the other big mastaks and miserly male tears on the cheek to let, and hand under the breaths to mull, and to play with chutes in public. Only here the images they got some unfinished. Take, for example, Tobin Frost. A kind of James Bond in chocolate performance. An indestructible giant of international intelligence with steel muscles and nerves, and, in fact, a renegade who betrayed his homeland and sold intelligence. The knight, without fear and reproach for his old age, suddenly decided to prompt his colleagues and hang dirty underwear for general review. And not out of a sense of false nobility, but for a very definite reward.
The character of Weston (Reynolds) is also limp on all limbs. On the one hand, there's an office rat who didn't smell gunpowder at the reception. The authorities do not particularly value them, although the boy graduated from a prestigious university, has a degree in economics and a positive characteristic. In the course of the film, Weston is not particularly brilliant with knowledge, but demonstrates wonders of quirkiness. It's like he didn't graduate from the humanities department, and he's been in the Marines for ten years. And the car drives as much as Schumacher, and shoots Aki Robin Hood, and waves hands spectacularly, breaking enemies like chips. Or is it a covert advertisement for CIA special courses?
The relationship between the two characters is a separate song. They are ready to breathe each other, then they suffer shoulder to shoulder for a common cause, although what can they have in common? One rushes for the hill to profitably push the stolen, and the other, conscientiously, performs his official duty. The most unpleasant thing is that all these stories about certain files that can send corrupt bosses and high-ranking officials to prison are so burrowed that they do not inspire in any way. Neither the audience nor the authors themselves. And the identity of the mole, treacherously digging inside the agency, is calculated on one or two or three.
Partially rehabilitate Espinoza can only masterfully staged scenes of chase, shootouts and hand-to-hand fights, strongly reminiscent of the style of Jason Bourne and the newest Bond. It is nice that the creators of the picture saved on computer special effects, giving the picture to the mercy of real stunt tricks. This gap between good, well-coordinated action in the best traditions of the genre and the helplessness of the script in terms of dialogue and motives and spoils the overall impression of the tape.
High professionalism of the actors can pull out of the swamp drama or another chamber genre, but without intrigue and ingenuity spy film just nothing to breathe. This "bondiana" can only go on a recognizable brand. Espinosa is still zero without a stick, and even more or less confident collections of the picture at the box office (thanks Washington and Reynolds) are not able to somehow change its current status.

I didn't like the movie. And not because everything, without exception, is template and predictable, there is more, there was an impression that the script was taken as a basis and the names of the actors and everything were simply changed. This is not a template, this is pure plagiarism. There is money, creativity is not necessary - in my opinion, this is how the contempt for the viewer was expressed, even a little hurtful.
The only thing that kept me on screen was, of course, the cast and it was impressive. Washington plays a treacherous agent who betrayed and sold everything. I like his performance, he looks quite organic as a tough guy. Also, no less cool guy, as it turned out by the end of the film, Reynolds performed in symbiosis with the role of “green” agent. I can't say anything about him, bad or good, he just was. Although he fulfilled his purpose, it was against his background that Washington showed all the facets of its cool essence. The secondary title roles of the harsh bosses were performed by Farmiga and Gleeson, here is generally mortal boredom, each of their dialogue was already written twenty years ago and I did not expect from them. If we judge only by the actors, then there is hope to see something clear, but it did not work out, far from even a second-rate scenario with special cruelty trampled into oblivion that very hope.
"Cape Town Access Code" is a simple, blatant action movie. Where the villain from the first minutes of appearance on the screen impresses the viewer, and his opponent, the man of justice has the whole film to marvel at corruption and betrayal, although even the most inexperienced viewer will be bored with all this, but he will also be surprised, but only the childlike credulity of a CIA agent. But most striking of all is the sermon before the murder, banalism, a sign of obvious hacking.
But I definitely want to mention one single plus. I liked the scenes of the shootouts, here they are made very competently and most importantly look closely. That's all.
The film, probably, is still able to pass the evening, under it, for example, you can without shame fall asleep, without fear of missing something. But I will not recommend it anyway, our time is precious and we must remember this.
I think Denzel Washington was drawn to the image of Frost, a former CIA agent who went against the system because of its corruption. The character really turned out to be a very memorable, interesting and intelligent criminal, thanks to Denzel. But is he a criminal? This is undoubtedly the main question of the film. At first it seems that this is the main enemy of the CIA, but the more you learn the truth, the more you start to side with Frost and wonder: is everything in this world so corrupt? Well, Denzel hasn't cheated on himself, and I'm putting him 10 for this role. One can only wonder how he managed in a rather banal action movie, to be remembered by his character and at the same time convey a certain idea. I admire his talent!
As for the film itself, I can’t say it surprised me. Although I really like the way Americans shoot action movies about agents, they look easy and create a special state of brain comfort, all this computer stuff, the secrecy and agility of the main characters, good condition. But everything else is absolutely not hooked, when viewing it creates the feeling that somewhere I have already seen 10 times. In a word, the plot of the film is banal, however, like everything in this film, except for the game of Denzel, I think that was the bet of the creators.
Well, the film paid off, everyone is happy, another well-made banal action movie for once with a brilliant actor. For the film itself 4 out of 10, for Denzel's game +2, in total.

I like to shoot two birds with one stone. This film not only suits my theme, but is also the last of the South African SFF program. So I would get to him soon anyway. Well, in that collection were more vivid works ("Zambezia" and "Club of the crazy"). But this is not the worst criminal action movie. But nothing new will surprise the audience.
The plot is quite standard for this genre. Matt has been working for the CIA for almost a year and dreams of being transferred to Paris. In Cape Town, he simply guards a safe house where the legendary agent Tobin Frost is once brought, possessing defamatory information, which he is going to sell for a round sum. A hard-working agent is in no hurry to give away the cherished chip, and a young security guard for the first time has the opportunity to prove himself before the authorities. Will Matt manage to get Frost to his destination or will he switch to the saboteur’s side?
The plot is developing dynamically. As usual, viewers are confused, not making it clear which of the characters is on the side of good, and who sold to evil for cookies. In general, the usual set of chases, shootings and different coalitions. But the Swedish director has two trump cards up his sleeve. The first is the operator of the Bourne franchise. He knows how to shoot action movies. Although sometimes the camera too often grinds and it is difficult to focus on any details. The second trump card is the cast. But there were also shortcomings.
Of course, I would like to rank the cute Ryan Reynolds in the company of cool guys from action movies, but he is more suitable for romantic comedies. He will never make Bond, Bourne, or any other credible CIA agent. It's just not his role. Everything about Denzel Washington is clear without words. He is a frequent guest of criminal fighters. I really like Vera Farmiga in the image of the head of the department. She's a woman commander. It was also nice to see a couple of Irishmen from the Perrier Generosity: Brendan Gleason and Liam Cunningham.
In the end, we got another normal action movie for once. Even though the project paid off at the box office, I don’t think it needs a sequel. In any case, I was not interested in the continuation. I didn’t have to miss it while watching, which is good. That is why I put the average score.
Stylistically, the film fits into the framework of the latest Bond films. I remember the beginning of the film “Quantum of mercy”. Lots of city chases and shootings, close-ups, explosions, the assumption that the protagonist is not a comic book character at all, that he may be bleeding, injured or short of breath. But he must have a strong character - the most important thing.
This is the character of Ryan Reynolds. Yes, he is young and inexperienced, but an emergency situation can not break him. And he is not at all confused in the distant Cape Town being in the very center of the scandal about compromising intelligence services. The thing is that he will be confronted by a special agent, or rather a former special agent, the holder of this compromising material. Will they be able to compete?
Denzel Washington starred and was to headline the film. As a matter of fact, the film was a commercial success. However, everything was unconvincingly executed.
Basically, the main character was supposed to be anxious and constantly tired, but before us was Denzel himself, who was once a wonderful actor. He could at one glance reveal the inner angels or demons of his character. So it was in "Malcolm X" and "Best Blues", "Cry of Freedom" and "Hurricane". This time, nothing special happened, which is already becoming familiar for his latest works. Although, I repeat that everything was played by him professionally and very correctly, but alas, not incendiary.
The ending also made me smile – the creators of the tape make very careful hints about the numerous scandals associated with leaks of information of recent years (such as WikiLeaks). To me, such relevance seems false, because most people have little to do with such scandals. But there is something to discuss in the office or after work.
Rather, beautiful stories about superheroes who deal with the most secret and important issues, for several centuries occupy the minds of many fans of fiction. Sometimes, of course, there are successful tapes, but “Cape Town” is heavy and overly relevant. As if the staff of analysts prescribed all the nuances that can attract viewers. I think that in 5-10 years the picture will look very different, and fans it will have much less.
So, the film seemed to me hollow and conceptually false. If Bond paintings regularly give the viewer a beautiful fairy tale, modern mythology, then Cape Town claims to be an audiovisual application of many news related to the international war of compromising materials. And the characters of the characters are worked out very superficially, which does not make it possible to take the tape seriously.
However, if Denzel played the lead role the way he did in the 80s, the color of the review would be completely different.

Tobin Frost left the CIA and now sells classified information to the highest bidders. And of course, the U.S. government is looking for him all over the world, and they managed to detain him in the most beautiful city in South Africa, Cape Town. But as it turns out, Frost is being hunted by someone else and a completely inexperienced agent Matt Weston will try to prevent Frost from falling into the hands of mercenaries.
The film made a very pleasant impression on me, first of all, with its atmosphere: spy games taking place against the beautiful backdrop of the city of Cape Town, look very attractive and make the viewer watch what is happening on the screen, without looking away from the screen.
First of all, I would like to note high-quality shootouts, which are primarily worth paying attention to when watching, even despite the well-thought-out scenario, the shootouts are made very realistic and look quite natural, not fake. It is also worth highlighting the well-thought-out plot of the film: the dialogues are thought out very qualitatively, unpredictable moments in the film are certainly present, which of course pleases, and the literacy of events in the film. But the acting was nothing special and did not remember, but to be honest, it was not required here, the main task of the actors was not to look very template, with which the main characters Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington coped successfully.
"Cape Town Access Code" - a very interesting spy thriller, with bright elements of an action movie, which you can devote your free time, because the viewer will not be bored at all. And of course, this picture is recommended for viewing by absolutely everyone.
South Africa, Cape Town. 12 o'clock in the afternoon. The middle of the day.
A young, promising, but completely inexperienced CIA man recruited in the 3rd year of studying at Yale, Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) is tormented with boredom, entertaining himself with studying French, going to the gym and dreaming of a worthwhile task, for now his appointment is the “administrator” of the so-called “hotel” – long empty safe house, where all enemies of the state are kept and interrogated.
At the same time, on the other side of the city, a retired and now hiding special agent with an impressive track record, Tobin Frost (Danzel Washington) is sent to meet a certain official who gives Frost a capsule containing a mysterious file. The contents of this file are very, very desirable for some not very friendly guys of Arab appearance, who literally hunt Frost and force him to hide in the American Embassy, which is equal to finding himself and surrendering to the authorities.
It is not difficult to guess that Frost’s temporary shelter will be the very “hotel” from which he will be quickly smoked out by restless pursuers, and recruit Weston will finally get the opportunity to show the qualities of an operative, not a theoretical tactician.
Describing action films, it is difficult to say anything about acting, because they expect different from these films. They, first of all, value continuous action: fights, shootouts, explosions. All of this is in the Access Code. The main leit motif is “chase, hunt, chase” (c), the shots are loud, the explosions are bright, the fights are bloody, i.e. everything we go for action, in principle, we get.
A few words about the leading roles.
Tobin Frost is a hero of Danzel Washington, video reviews were positioned as a negative character, and I tuned in to the contemplation of a miracle, to the birth of a new villainous genius, because the bad guys are amazingly good at Denzel. (Although he's always great...) But, as it turned out, all the “frozenness” Frost boiled down to the fact that he was just saving his own skin and wanted to do his business as usual clean. Along the way, he becomes a teacher and almost a friend to baby Weston, turns from a escort into a protector of his convoy, and the real villains are corrupt authorities in intelligence agencies across the West.
Ryan Reynolds managed to try himself both as a dramatic actor and as a comedian, was a superhero and went to the “dark side”. All the images are given to him surprisingly easily, he copes with them playfully, and now you can add secret agent Matt Weston to them - a smart, talented guy with little experience, but who has everything ahead. Caught in an unusual situation, Weston, accustomed to acting solely on instructions, finds the ability to make decisions on his own and use the perfectly learned theory in practice.
The title, which originally sounds like “Safe House,” is the exact opposite of what happens on screen. Wherever Weston and Frost go, they can’t feel safe, and the only algorithm for their actions is to escape and save.
So, "Cape Town Access Code" is a typical spy action movie. Not bad, but nothing special, despite the participation of Denzel Washington, whose name for me is a kind of mark of quality. I'm missing something in this movie. Perhaps the story is more interesting...
I recommend watching, but do not expect anything special. I will put a 6 + point in my mind for Washington and Reynolds, whom I love very much, if someone else would film there, all other things being equal, I would probably pass by.

A spy thriller, especially with action elements, is a rare guest on our screens. And if it has all the components of a good movie, then even more so.
First of all, a great script. Unbeatable story. Behind the scenes intrigues in the world of the most influential intelligence services of the Western world.
The entertainment line of the plot is harmoniously combined with the documentary. Dialogs are carefully written, which makes the images very vivid.
Impressive work of the operator. When shooting as close as possible to documentary, the camera does not twitch, but smoothly accompanies the events.
Soudtrack is worthy of all praise.
Such high-quality scenes of chases and shootouts have not been seen for a long time.
One of the advantages is the staging of hand-to-hand combat.
There are no long dialogues in the film. The love line is there, but it is written in moderation, without excessive pathos.
The cast speaks for itself. Denzil Washington is able to single out all the shortcomings and shortcomings of any film, and here he has Ryan Reynolds, who also looks quite good.
For all the documentary accuracy, the ending, to put it mildly, is very optimistic. Well, that's what Hollywood is!
Overall, the film makes a good impression. It's a good movie for men.
This year, several non-American directors shot thrillers with popular actors. Balthazar Kormakur with his "Controband", Asger Lets "On the Fringe" and Daniel Espinoza with "Cape Town Access Code". And I write about the third film and the most successful of the three.
Daniel Espinoza directed the famous Swedish film “Spooky Money”. And then suddenly he was invited by Hollywood to the field of director of this film. The budget was allocated $85 million, and gave famous actors such as Ryan Reynolds and Daniel Washington.
As you can see, they took inspiration from Bourne. The whole same shaking camera and realistic fights and chases. They are just great, they are so filled with adrenaline that you can not take off the screen. The final fight was especially exciting.
The script is not perfect. Some where misses, somewhere boring to watch, some characters are average, but what you can not take away from this film is the tension. Anyone can be a traitor, it is cool and drive.
Unexpected ending failed, oddly enough. I predicted who the biggest villain was, even though he was being hidden until the end.
I would like to mention a great soundtrack from Jay-Z and Kanye West. They had a very cheerful and cool song. Which, by the way, sounds on the final credits.
Ryan Reynolds played well, no complaints. Danzal Washington played amazingly, as always. Vera Farmiga played a secondary role and there are no claims at all. Brendan Gleason is good.
“Cape Town Access Code” is a good, tense thriller that you will not get bored with.

I think I should start by saying that I liked Cape Town Access Code, and it’s not perfect, but it’s pretty good. In February, I saw a poster of this film on the wall of theaters, but I didn’t get to see it in the theater because I had a busy schedule, but I don’t regret it. Before watching the movie, I watched the trailer, yes, it impressed me, the chases, the fights, were impressive. True, I found some similarity with the same Bourne, the plot is almost one in one, but it seems so at first glance. As for the film itself, yes, I finally watched it, and what I can say, a very good action movie was provided to us, but about everything in order.
As for the plot. As I said, the film is similar to the same “Bourne”, in general, the plot we have. The protagonist Matt Weston dreams of moving to Paris with his wife, but he hides from her that he works for the government, namely the CIA, later appears Tobin Frost, who by the way once worked for the CIA, and who has some secret files that need to be extracted. There’s something like that in the movie. I will say that I was intrigued by the beginning of the film, the film keeps intrigue all the time, until its end, all the time will pop up questions to which we will get an answer only at the end of the film, the plot though familiar, but it still keeps in suspense. As for fights, explosions, chase, dynamics and the action itself in general.
The fights look beautiful, but they are not enough here for a film in which the whole government runs after the two main characters. The chase was also not pumped up, they have beautiful explosions of cars, and shooting from the windows of cars as it often happens, in general, the action here is not little, and not much, just a little.
The actors, well, the actors performed their roles amazingly, their charisma and facial expressions surprised me throughout the film.
Ryan Reynolds played the main character. The actor himself is young, and I made the list of my favorites, I saw a lot of pictures with him that I almost all liked, including the same “Burried Alive” released in 2010, which I can call a masterpiece, and just the best stressful and tense film of 2010, Ryan pulled the whole film, and did it amazing, his performance in any film is gorgeous! This is no exception.
Denzel Washington played Tobin Frost, the man who has secret files that should be seized by the CIA itself. His performance was amazing, it’s the first movie I’ve seen with him, but I had a very good impression from the first viewing.
“Cape Town Access Code” is a very good action movie, fans of action movies, a sharp plot, and Ryan Reynoldson is highly recommended to look, such people the film is unlikely to disappoint, I personally did not disappoint, at least not much.

Previously, every spy thriller was a little from the “French Connection” John Frankenheimer: then the chase like insert, then walks around the city in the style of “Nostalgia”, or something else. Now, it seems that the trendsetter in spy films has become Bourne. Moreover, the best thing that this trilogy brought to the deflated was an irrelevant genre - it's dynamics. And it was the dynamics of Bourne in the film “Cape Town Access Code” that made this film one of the notable in the genre.
Plus, the magnificent game of the maestro of Washington, who after the indistinct “Book of Eli” is rehabilitated with each film.
Ryan Reynolds is not bad, you can see a diligent desire to get rid of the plume of frivolous half-roles, such as “The Proposal” or “The Party King”, but very few can look equivalent to Washington. For example, John Lithgow in the classic Ricochet, or Clive Owen in Not Caught, Not a Thief. Too handsome face, frivolous look and relief press a little interfere with the actor in serious roles. But the film is about the philosophical side of betrayal, which everyone has the right to if he does not want to go against himself. What else can you look at...
The film captivates and keeps in suspense, the attitude to the main characters is ambiguous, the denouement is rapid and not very standard. In general, the director-debutant managed to shoot a strong film with good actors in a not simple genre, which, recently, thanks to “Spy, Get Out” and “Payback”, again found a second wind.
Farmiga's faith is a little low. Whether the role is very small, or played poorly, I will not judge. Where brutal guys squash everything in their way for military secrets, a woman belongs only if you are Angelina Jolie.
"Cape Town Access Code" is the most ordinary, even partially template spy film. There is no question of any originality or unexpected plot twists. The whole film goes according to the genre, without new ideas, but, of course, the film has enough pluses, but after a very high-quality trailer, I expected much more drive and originality of the storyline.
The plot here, if not the weak spot, it is vulnerable, because what happens on the screen, we have seen it in other films. Even the poster of the film is very similar to the poster of the Bourne Ultimatum, which I consider, if not the best, then one of the best films in this genre. Usually in such films we see a mixture of action movie and something like a thriller. And if there are enough action scenes here, you can not, of course, call special effects the main feature of the film, but they are quite good. But the dynamic thriller here is far away, there is no plot that would keep the tension of the whole viewing, although the actors do their job here to the maximum.
Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington made up a very colorful tandem, which is interesting to watch, but often the dialogue looks superfluous and protracted. In general, timekeeping could be slightly reduced. But the main drawback is the pathos that modern directors love to apply so much and here it is very striking.
The main advantage of this film is that the Cape Town Access Code is not an empty film, it carries some idea, although it is not new, but the attempt to show the fight against corruption in the state system deserves respect. Of course, the advantage of the film is the area where the film takes place - the city, the landscapes make the "picture" special.
"Cape Town Access Code" is a worthy project in its genre. Let predictability and platitude here is enough, but it takes realistic fights, beautiful landscapes of Cape Town and a good acting, so, in general, it is quite a good film that will find its audience.
It never ceases to amaze me that neither the director nor the writers do not want to notice in their works such wild blunders that negate the beginnings of an interesting film. Well, here lives Matt, a special agent (from this word already cuts in the ear), who was allegedly trained, who must be morally prepared for murder, who coldly performs his dirty work. But what do we see on the screen? The boy, who at the sound of gunshots had already "pushed" into his pants, he had a boil and his knees trembled. Of course, Reynolds is not a bad actor, but the “agent” in his performance looks a little ridiculous. Remember at least the scene in the stadium, when he ran away from Frost: Matt saw Frost, dressed in some form and quietly walking walking. Not to calmly catch up with him from behind, he, attention!, all Ivanovskaya shouts a harrowing cry to him to stop! Yeah, schuss!!
A little funny look and pathetic dialogues of the main characters, in the style:
Matt: I lied to you, I don’t work as a gas station administrator!
His girlfriend: - Who are you working for? (in an icy tone with an admixture of interrogation)
Matt: - To "Government." The CIA.
His girlfriend: -Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
The script stifles and absolute lies about the heroes. Where does Frost have the phenomenal ability to manipulate? The fact that he says obvious things to a completely “green” agent is not manipulation, it is simple common sense of a person who does not want to end his days chained to a battery.
Surprisingly, the CIA staff, who know that Frost is the most wanted criminal of the decade, but for what he is wanted – asked to repeat the aunt on the “database”.
The film is quite watchable, for once, such a typical mid-level action movie, with good actors, but with script flaws. Movies with a similar plot - a car and a small cart. To see something completely new - no, it did not work, except for the plague Wi-Fi in the Cape Town cafeteria.
I can’t give a good rating just because the film is not memorable.
Quickly. Exciting. Exciting. Here are the few epithets that apply to various militants. The presence of these qualities contributes to the success of the film related to this genre.
It has everything: shootings and accidents, chases and fights, explosions, global betrayals and a confusing plot. And a lot of it is written very competently. There are no moments when one person is able to “fall down” five, when a car on the highway masterfully walks away from criminals. Of course, in real life it is difficult to imagine, but something like that is quite possible.
All this fast-receiving computer data creates the atmosphere of the CIA. Frost’s preaching speeches, which open the eyes of his young, one might say, colleague named Weston, are decorated with a certain resulting detective. Therefore, it is necessary sometimes to think, to perceive information.
Adds drive and soundtrack. Operator work has not added something new, everything is standard here.
Surprised Cape Town. Apparently, the World Cup brought the city "European or American infrastructure." Beautiful roads, expensive stadiums and clubs, big houses - everything is there.
As a result, it turned out to be a very beautiful and strong fighter.
The film is shot in the style of the old school of ordinary action films, which do not shine with the plot or excellent spectacular tricks. However, the modern viewer who is used to seeing on the screen characters resembling terminators will be disappointed.
The story that underlies the film does not have any innovations and findings, so the plot does not make sense to paint. But the tandem of actors Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington I liked. They are completely different in their creative role. This is what made it possible to make them colorful and believable on the screen. Both actors play well. Ryan Reynolds is represented here by a slightly timid and insecure young man who has long been trying to build his career in the ranks of the special services. A very different person is the Washington character. The fugitive agent did well. This is a proven and experienced special agent with his crooked past. If we talk about the scenes of fights and chases in the film, they look realistic. Do not expect that the main characters will kill enemies with dozens of different weapons. But the action dynamics are preserved here and the same fights, for example, are performed quite at the level of a good fighter.
I will recommend this film to fans of honest action films, in which there is a good acting of actors and decent musical accompaniment.

The trailer made me want to watch the movie because the selection was wonderful. He didn't even look like Bourne. In fact, it was a little different.
A young agent, Matt (Ryan Reynolds), sits in a safe house waiting for the opportunity to work. But he has no experience in practical work and so he is not offered anything. For a whole year he got tired of it and he is eager to fight. This case is given to him when an experienced secret agent Frost (Danzel Washington) is brought to his apartment to get him what information he received and why he even showed up at the US consulate in Cape Town. That’s it, the plot ends and the events that we see in every film of this genre begin: races, shootouts. And the whole movie is waiting to see what that means. I understand, of course, that such films can never boast of a twisted plot, but here it is generally bad. When you do that, you feel a bit disappointed.
Of course, the symbiosis of two agents inevitably leads to one imbued with the ideas of the other. It is Frost who shows Matt that things are not so smooth at the CIA. The most dangerous enemy comes from those who know the structures they work against. Matt understands that, firstly, Frost has facts confirming that corrupt greedy people work in the CIA, MI6 and other organizations, and, secondly, in this situation, he, Matt, is not only not necessary for the CIA, but also dangerous.
In the end, ours, of course, won. Matt did what Frost wanted: he brought corruption to the public.
To be honest, I only watched the movie for Ryan Reynolds. I like that he tries to work in different genres. Something he's doing, something's not good. On the one hand, he began with comedies (" The Party King), and similar roles are good for him (" Proposal, I Want Like You). On the other hand, he takes on other genres. I’m not going to say that everything is going well (Green Lantern, Chaos Theory, etc.). But in individual roles, he is simply irresistible ("Nine). In "Access Code" as a young inexperienced agent, he looks very good. I have to say, he looks good.
Denzel Washington... I agree that the actor is outstanding, he has many wonderful roles. In the role of such Frost, we have seen him more than once and, to be honest, you do not expect anything unusual from him. Yes, it looks good, but, sorry, the same. Although it’s probably not his fault, he’s just being offered the same type of roles.
In general, the film is well-made, watchable, if I may say so. But he does not stand out from among those like him. It didn't.
"Cape Town Access Code" - uninteresting and sometimes just boring action movie directed by Daniel Espinoza. I don’t know what made me watch a movie like this because I don’t like it. Right now, I have a special attitude to the genre of action movie, probably cold and unacceptable. As a child, I only watched this genre, because it seemed to prevail in Hollywood, there were really ideal actors for combat roles, I will not count them, we all know them so well, and you know, the action films of the 80-90s were really interesting and exciting, and now the features that are being done, films seem not to be cheap shoot with different cool scenes, invite really great actors, but the result is something boring and incomprehensible.
I never understood what kind of access code "Cape Town", everything was so fast, I have here in terms of plot speed, that I did not have time to catch the information that was given to me by the film, because only I learned something new, not yet had time in my head to digest how there is already a chase, shooting, explosions and other nonsense inherent in the militants. Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, I respect and love these actors, especially Denzel, and here by the way he looked good in all this dangerous fuss, but I really didn’t like the film. He is one of those who want to turn off without looking to the middle.
This is a very rich action movie that did not let down its producers, as it paid off great at the box office, but still I want to note that this film, like many others, shows us a completely different style of this genre, well, watch Die Hard or something like that, and you will see that in two films, even bullets whistle differently, and the bandits run in another way. Summing up, I'm not sure that ardentified fans of the movie will like, I don't even really.
The trailer was good, very good, he promised us explosive chases, dizzying tricks, a strong cast, even intrigue with unexpected plot moves.
What did we get on the way out? Let's try to figure it out.
In general, we have before us a classic hoax of Hollywood. An average spy action movie with an unexpectedly strong cast. The plot is not spelled out very weakly, but there are many sagging moments in it that did not give a description of the actions of the characters, and there were few descriptions of the characters themselves. After the end of the film left a fairly large number of questions, and in fact in this genre this should not be, it is still not a mystical thriller with a bias in fiction.
Next, special effects: yes, they are and yes, put to fame. Fights were especially successful, sharp, juicy, realistic, but we have all known for a long time that a film cannot be saved by fighting alone, if it originally claimed something more.
At first, I was surprised how a very average filmmaker, you can even say a pass, earned such a box office, not only paying off his budget, but also earning a little more. But with such a composition it is not surprising: Washington, Farmiga, Gleason, Shepherd. A very good team gathered, even more lucky Reynolds, I think the mastadonts gave him a couple of lessons of acting, and Ryan himself from film to film is more and more pleased with his departure from youth romcoms to serious roles, one “Buried Alive” that is worth.
There is no intrigue in the film as such, about a minute at 40-45 it becomes clear who the main villain is and what will happen in the end.
To sum up: one of the passing films, "for the evening", but having several good tricks in reserve and overgrown Washington.

After watching the trailer, I was very interested in the film, but did not go to the movies. Why not be interested? There's Rayne Reynolds and Denzel Washington and even Vera Farmiga in the background. Plus, it's kind of a good story and a pretty good action. But...
But the movie was really, really weak. There are several reasons for this - a banal, stamped to holes plot, indistinct characters, and the action seems to be enough, but still kind of sluggish.
The reason for their claims is that the topic of corruption in the special services is as old as the world. And there is always a guy for whom the word "honor" is not an empty word! And Espinoza almost nothing new came up with, even to calculate a traitor in the ranks of the CIA is not difficult, so everything is banal and predictable. Even Washington, the many-faced Washington, played his character not even fully. Tobin Frost remained a mystery to me - what is he, what goals he pursues, why did he change his mind at the last minute? Old Danzel was upset, very upset, maybe a creative crisis is coming?
The only thing to which there are no complaints is the severity of fights and Reynolds. Fights are really tough: if you hit with a fist - bleeding, you fall from a height of a couple of meters - break ribs. Everything is true, everything is honest, everything is realistic. Reynolds also tried, and I even forgot his past not very successful roles. Ryan looked very natural in the image of a “green” agent, who is not yet trusted with serious work.
The result - for all the shortcomings of the picture, its main task she fulfilled - collected a commercial jackpot. People went to the picture, gave money, someone was disappointed, someone is not very, but the box office of the film collected. And that's not bad. But to me personally, the film seemed boring and banal, and if you want to choose for the evening really something grinding – this picture can be safely missed.
Once again, having puzzled over how it was possible to translate 'Safe house' in 'Code...' (if the lump became a literal translation, and 'Conspiracy Apartment' not digestible then translated at least as a Schrone) began to view this picture.
In principle, a sufficient condition for me to see the picture and enjoy it was the presence of Mr. Washington and, mainly considering the class of the actor, such a condition will be true for all his admirers, but in more detail. . .
Ex-CIA agent, while serving No. 1 in the ranking by all indicators, and now a freelance artist selling secrets for a lot of money gets info that can leak & #39; well, many secretaries around the world including of course former colleagues. Naturally, this does not go unnoticed and the matter takes a bad turn with shootings, a bunch of wrecked cars, mandatory in such films & #39; mole & #39; and all the like. In addition, the maelstrom of events is drawn into the novice, who is at the bottom of the hierarchy, guarding a previously unvisited safe house and dreaming of a promotion. In fact, everything is as usual.
For the first few minutes, I thought I’d be watching: a training day, 16 blocks, or some kind of psychological struggle when interrogated under a hail of bullets in a besieged house (a la attack on the 13th precinct with an admixture of lie theory). I was mostly hoping for the latter, but in fact we have something kinder version of the training day passing according to the scheme of 16 quarters.
However, in this case, this is not an outright minus, but rather a forced template in which a little talk-thinking and a couple of additional elements in the topic of the game of catch-up were added. A clear advantage for me was the acting. First of all, I want to mention Reynolds, because Washington turned out to be good, as always, and to add something about his game is only to repeat itself. But Reynolds (never perceived him before this film as an actor) qualitatively managed to show a person who wanted action so much, and whom this action overwhelmed just in the eyes so what is it ' and I need it?!'. Very good! As for the rest of the actors, they simply played the role of the necessary content of the film, rather than playing a role, so no one is particularly singled out, although the presence, albeit brief, of Robert Patrick was pleased, and Fares Fares is terribly charismatic.
In total, we get a strong action movie mixed in on a spy theme, flavored with quality actors and appropriate play, and with a mandatory garnish of good shootouts and beautifully beating cars. If that's what you're looking forward to, enjoy watching! If you want something more, you can watch the same, but the tape will not be a grand opening for you.
On a level, though not brilliant. Attractive though the pattern is visible. If the numbers are -
So, another spy fighter. Young CIA operative Matt Weston misses a CIA safe house. He has absolutely nothing to do, requests for transfer are rejected, in short, no romance of espionage. But finally something happens - a fugitive agent Tobin Frost is brought to the hut and then this begins.
I won't kick the plot. Well, yes, template, predictable, banal ... but the movie was not declared as a masterpiece. Again, attacking authors for implausibility is a waste of gunpowder, it's just a genre that's implausible. So let’s conditionally believe that the special services connect their computers with secret information to the Internet – well, how else can villains get secrets?
In such films, two components are more important - the quality of the action scenes and the images of the characters. The first one isn't that bad. Yes, it's annoying to abuse the minted footage, but the car chase scene was very, very good. But with the drawing of characters, the writers simply have some trouble, and inexplicable. Why should they mention that Matt was some kind of Navy SEAL before he was recruited to the CIA? But no, we are offered to believe that a recent college graduate miraculously turns into a sharp shooter, an ace driver and a master of hand-to-hand combat.
Even worse is the Washington character. We're being billed as a super agent. But he's not doing anything super-agent. He never has a plan B... it is not even clear how he managed to hide from his former colleagues for 10 years. Maybe no one was looking for him. There's something weird about the character of a super cool dude, too. In the first part of the film, he tries to earn a lot of money and constantly tries to throw Matt, in the second he suddenly miraculously becomes a Boy Scout and dutifully goes into a trap. What's the actor gonna do? It remains only to try to pull such a poorly spelled character at the expense of his charisma, which he almost succeeds. Almost ... but alas, not to the end. Too stupid actions and stupid lines are in the script. However, thanks to Denzel Washington, the movie looks more like a shooter. Let’s not blame the main star of the film – when he has a well-recorded character, like in “Training Day”, he shows a really high class. But you can’t drink, so even in Cape Town. Denzel manages to brew axe soup, creating an impressive character from scratch.
What else is interesting about the movie? Well, fights are quite natural, we also note that the beaten heroes in the following episodes go with broken faces - amazing, right? However, they never run out of ammunition, so do not be deceived.
And as a resume – a typical action movie, the trailer of which promises much more than it really is. Denzel Washington's game slightly raises him above the average level, but the bad scenario tramples back in.

Spy action thrillers, as a genre, have long exhausted themselves. There are few new ideas, so the creators have to brazenly copy the plots of old, long-forgotten paintings, which few people can remember. Here's the "Cape Town Access Code," which is nothing more than a tape on the theme: "Everything new is the well-forgotten old." Even if someone disagrees with me, so be it. After all, I will still remain with my opinion, and no one can convince me.
At first glance, many people who are not familiar with cinema, of course, it may seem that “Cape Town Access Code” is a really cool movie about spies, etc. Yes, I don’t dispute that the film is really capable of making an impression, mostly positive, by the way. After all, it was actually interesting and quite entertaining for me to watch all the action taking place in this creation. And, probably, if I was not familiar with cinematography as well as I am familiar at the moment, I even called the presented film a masterpiece. But fortunately or unfortunately, I know a lot about movies, and I know for sure, believe me, that the Cape Town Access Code is not a masterpiece of cinema, but just an ordinary spy/thriller/fighter movie, which is just a pond right now. Well, what would you expect? Judge for yourself. The lack of fresh ideas from the creators of certain paintings has always led, leads and will lead to this most abundant release of such films as “Cape Town Access Code”. No, I never blame the people who worked on the creation of this film for this, since the movie actually turned out not the worst, albeit very banal, just saying that nothing special or unusual “Cape Town Access Code could not demonstrate to us, even though it did not leave me disappointed either, at least for sure.” Which is a joy.
To play the main roles in the film, fell to the share of a rather interesting duo, namely Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington. If the second of the previously named artists never caused me negative feelings, then things were much worse with the first one. Ryan was especially average in Green Lantern, although I thought he was not bad at first. Here he managed to perform his role a little better. Yes, to the ideal he, of course, is still very, very far away, but, nevertheless, he played with dignity, no matter how twisted. I hope that Reynolds’ acting skills will improve. There is nothing to say about Washington. As before, he just played better than old Denzel, which was to be expected. Definitely one of the best roles in his acting career. Bravo.
Among the rest, I would like to mention a chic musical composition called “No Church In The Wild” by Jay-Z and Kanye West, which, although only sounded in the final credits, still managed to deliver a lot of positive emotions from listening to it. High class, be sure to listen to her, I give my word you will not regret. Oh, yeah. And I advise you to watch the film, because the impression remains, albeit not long-term. I planned to paint the review in gray, but still decided to let it be green. Like no, but the film is remembered, and brought some no, but still enjoy watching. That's it, anyway.
The film tells the story of a young police officer working for the government and guarding the headquarters in South Africa. He has long been waiting for a real job, but it does not reach him. And so, as by order, a very dangerous criminal is brought to his facility for deposition, for which not only the CIA is hunting... The headquarters is captured by the “bad boys”, and the main character will have to show all his skills to single-handedly transfer the criminal to the destination. The plot wasn't impressed. The story of two cops, one young and inexperienced, and the other almost with the prefix “super”, and they, like “+” and “-”, the whole film attracts and fights against lies and corruption at the top of society, has long been familiar. A lot of conversations, although diluted with good action, are also not particularly kept at the screen.
Plus everything else and the shaking method of shooting, “tipo” to increase the entertainment. But why so much? It feels as if one operator rushed after the heroes with shaking hands. Well, obviously in such films do not exaggerate with this, leave such shooting for pseudo-documentaries!!!? Otherwise, the scenes of the chase and shooting are well staged - I liked it, except for the final one: it is painfully primitive to look up a half-dead man with a gun in his hands.
The main advantage of the film is the selection of actors. Put some second-rate Hollywood players in the lead roles, and the film would be a dummy, but the presence of D. Washington and R. Reynolds, growing before the eyes, significantly raised the bar of the film. The first one played the standard! A true fighter for the truth, what speeches! Calm, reasonable, making the listener think! That's great, you can't say anything else! Yes, and Ryan looks quite careful in his background. And B. Gleeson is not so far behind.
In general, Cape Town Access Code is a medium-sized, but good-acting film about traitors, corruption and good cops who all make it surface. It is quite easy for this film to get lost on the shelf with its brothers, but you can watch.

Former CIA operative Tobin Frost, who has switched sides, has intelligence that could compromise his former employers. By chance, fate brings him to the new agent Matt Weston and now both are hunted - after all, the one who owns the information not only owns the world, but also carries a danger to himself and others.
The genre of spy action film today is one of the most popular in world cinema. This cinema niche has something to offer the ordinary viewer: hurricane realistic action, picturesque locations and a certain share of detective intrigue. In 1980, the famous American writer Robert Ludlam (now deceased) wrote a detective novel “The Bourne Identity”, which marked the beginning of a whole book trilogy (later there were other works from this series, but already created by Eric Lastbader). The protagonist of these books is CIA liquidator agent Jason Bourne, who suddenly lost his memory as a result of an accident on one of the special missions, subsequently got out of control, but then dared to challenge the system that once gave birth to him. In 2002, the first full-length (the series was already) adaptation with Matt Damon in the title role was released and although the film itself had little to do with the literary primary source, the picture of Doug Lyman set a new direction in the development of the genre - the emphasis was deliberately made towards the humanity and vulnerability of the main character and a reliable demonstration of the inner activities of one of the powerful intelligence organizations in the world.
And the picture of Hudding native Daniel Espinoza continues this trend, dipping the viewer headlong into the whirlpool of secret CIA operations in South Africa. In order to emphasize the realism of the events shown on the screen, the authors demonstrate some tricks and schemes of conspiracy work and even illegal methods of interrogation. In favor of this, the pseudo-documentary manner of shooting, ragged editing and a juicy color scheme also plays. The operator here, again as in the trilogy about Jason Bourne, was Oliver Wood, but it is worth noting that the local picture is less chaotic and more accented than in the tapes of Lyman and Greengrass, and therefore car chases, gunfights and hand-to-hand fights, which are more than enough here, captured quite clearly and clearly for visual perception, and the music of Ramin Javadi brings the necessary tension and drive. But the script leaves questions and ambiguous opinion - at first, the action may seem too straightforward and predictable, but this is due to elementary logic and the absolutely correct reaction of the characters to the events taking place around them and therefore the first half of the film makes a favorable impression, while the second half of the screen narrative causes only bewilderment - it seems that the authors are simply tired and decided to "slow down everything", simplifying everything as much as possible and leading to a rather simple, faded and very naive ending. And the secret of the identity of the main antagonist is quite conditional here, and therefore even the viewer who is not spoiled by spying screen passions will be able to easily determine the main villain.
The central actor duo was pleasantly surprised - Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds complement each other very organically, as if they were playing together not for the first time, and created a stunning and very memorable fighting tandem. Moreover, Reynolds is almost in no way inferior to the Oscar-winning Hollywood veteran and the bison of the acting game Washington and shows a rather strong game. His image is very dramatic and bright, and the viewer sitting at the screen simply cannot help but feel sympathy and sympathy for him. Washington, as always, smiles charmingly, pushes fiery speeches with a spark, breaks the necks of opponents with a crunch and does not even bother to really – a worthy performance, but not the most impeccable in the career of one of the best actors of the modern dream factory.
Through the film itself, the colorful tape, still begun in the classic Three Days of the Condor by Sidney Pollack, passes, perhaps, his main ideological idea: foreign intelligence, collection and analysis of information about the activities of foreign organizations and citizens is only the tip of the iceberg and only one side of the coin, reflecting the official function and policy of the CIA around the world. Its other dark side is murder and conspiracies, disinformation, espionage and subversion using the latest science and technology. It is an organization outside of rules, prohibitions and moral guidelines and will always stand above the law.
Result: Rapid and whiplashy, dynamic and tough spy action with a straightforward script component. Espinosa presented the viewer with a rather one-time spectacle, which practically does not claim originality in anything and does not open new heights in the genre, but it is definitely worth seeing.
A young CIA agent, Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds), has been in a safe house in Cape Town for a year. A bored Matt is waiting for a transfer. At the time, former CIA agent Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington) was forced to surrender to CIA agents. During Frost's interrogation at Weston's safe house, a group of unidentified individuals with machine guns entered the building. Now Weston is the only agent to take Frost to safety.
The American debut of Swedish director Daniel Espinoza. "Cape Town Access Code"" in the original "Safe House", that is, "Conspiracy Apartment" is another film about spies, which, with all the aggregate, is devoid of any originality. Again, CIA agents, where one is inexperienced and young, and the other is ex, but the best in his field. Again, corrupt agents, and who exactly is not hard to guess. Young, as always, in the end will see and become an idealist. One thing is remarkable, for all its template, the picture does not cause rejection, on the contrary, it is interesting to watch. The main merit belongs to the duo Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. They are the main backbone of dramaturgy, which in fact is not so much. But Washington breaking the necks of all sorts of undergrowth and Reynolds not inferior to him in skill - look still great.
Another plus of the picture is an abundance of competently staged action. We do not have to sit and see bureaucratic literature. Fights, explosions and car chases are all present and will not let you get bored. The director followed the right path for Jason Bourne, maintaining a balance between action and the development of the relationships of the main characters. It is no coincidence that the main cameraman is Oliver Wood, who filmed Bourne. Torn editing, shaking camera - all the attributes of Wood are present.
It is a pity that the plot is secondary to the impossible. It could have been more interesting. Why would the roles of Brendan Gleason and Vera Farmiga not be so hollow and insignificant? Okay, Gleason justifies the plot with her presence, and what good dramatic actress Vera Farmiga does in this picture remains a mystery.
Result: Competent action, an excellent duo of Washington and Reynolds pull the picture from the plot secondary, which lacks any originality. Why do paintings still have their share of charm?
