Antonina just turned around... The film "Antonina turned around" was completed without the director, who left us in 2007. According to the wife of the director and producer of the film, who took the film after his death and finalized it, Grigory Nikulin most likely would have edited the film in a different way.
The film is occupied by wonderful actors: Sergei Drayden ("Window to Paris", "Daddy", "Russian Ark", "Give me moonlight", "Taras Bulba", as well as another festival film - "Half Rooms, or Sentimental Journey to Homeland"), Era Ziganshina (a robber in "Snow Queen", "Heavenly Swallows"....), Yuri Shevchuk
Loved the acting. It looks very organic in the role of a patient of the psychiatric hospital of Arkashi Yuri Shevchuk, there was a feeling that the role was written for him. Sergey Drayden I noted for myself when I watched the "Window to Paris" (1993), and recently - "Russian Ark". A doctor in a psychiatric hospital who wants to understand what's bothering his wife - but doesn't hear what she's trying to tell him. Unfortunately, as it seemed to me, this idea of the film, this plot line was not fully implemented. Having embarked on philosophical reflections, the creators-continuators of the case of Grigory Nikulin completely deviated from the idea.
Also, the second component is not fully disclosed - the image of Arkashi. He several times in the film belittles the interlocutors, doctors — “Give it to me”, talking about the guitar — but he is not heard, do not want to understand, hear. Arkasha, like Antonina, cannot reach those who seem to be obliged to listen to them, be near and help them. Antonina realizes that she is not living her own life - and there is nothing she can do about it. Her own husband does not understand her, doctors do not want to understand and they are alien to what she says, she does not devote her daughter and mother to anything, because she believes that they are not a part of her life. Only a meeting with Arkasha, a conversation with him, makes her go to Moscow to live as she wants, forgetting how she lived before. However, you can not cross out all that he lived 60 years, how he lived them.
Antonina decides to return to her daughter, she spends all summer with her granddaughter, talking on abstract topics. However, this does not mean that she has taken a new life. The granddaughter tells her that her mother told her to call her mother, not by name. To which Antonina replies, “Yes, now she has decided to take the role of your mother.” Just as Antonina once took the role of wife, mother, daughter.
