I’m afraid I won’t be original if I say that I only paid attention to the movie “My boyfriend is crazy” when it was nominated for 8 Oscars, and Jennifer Lawrence received a statuette for Best Actress. And if a year later the disputes “worthy-not worthy”, “deserved-not deserved” do not cease, then it is worth seeing the film at least in order to form your own opinion. As a result, after watching it even twice, I will try to formulate this opinion.
So, the protagonist Pat (Bradley Cooper) comes out of a psychiatric hospital, where he spent eight months, and settles in the house of his parents (Robert De Niro and Jackie Weaver). Now he dreams of returning to normal life, learning to control his own outbursts of anger and rebuilding his relationship with his wife Nikki. The heroine of Jennifer Lawrence – Tiffany – is grieving the death of her husband and trying to get out of depression. Two mentally ill people for two hours trying to improve their own lives, helping each other.
Needless to say, the idea is very interesting and opens a wide space for creativity and experimentation. In this case, I saw a light and funny comedy: a lot of really good jokes, a warm atmosphere and “everyone lived happily ever after.” Great movie to watch on Saturday night.
But that’s the main problem with the movie, in my opinion. The film seemed a bit "leaky." An important and difficult episode somehow imperceptibly for me resulted in an absolutely fabulous ending. For most of the intricate problems of the characters there was a wonderful solution, the rest somehow hushed up, or just forgot about them. As follows in romantic comedies, all characters by the end of the film should find happiness, look satisfied, well, or get what they deserve, but also look satisfied and do not violate the universal idyll and love.
And so everything would have fallen to the level of a disposable movie “under popcorn”, if not for the amazing acting.
I first looked at Bradley Cooper as a serious actor, not as "the one who plays the main man in the bachelor party." At the beginning of the film, I had genuine doubts about its normality. The crazy and empty eyes of the main character are impressive, is this definitely an acting game?
Jennifer Lawrence. I'm biased, I repent. This girl is very cute to me, beautiful, charming and talented. It was because of her that I delayed watching the film for a long time, I was afraid that now she would disappoint me, would not reach the Oscar level, would begin to replay. But none of that happened, fortunately. Believe in her, believe in the reality of her unbalanced and cocky heroine, with all these strange dances and funny grimaces. Watching her on the screen is a pleasure.
Robert De Niro. Is there anything else to say?
But I was most impressed by Jackie Weaver. Her character is one of the few mentally healthy on the screen, and her heroine did not get too many loud screams, full of dramatic lines and close-ups. But how she plays! Eyes, lips, smiles. Amazing actress, very glad I found out about her.
And Julia Styles, and Chris Tucker, and Dash Majok. I could not resist and in some moments rewinded the film back, so that in scenes with several characters on the screen to consider the facial expressions of each of the actors, so carefully they play their roles. I think it's the first time I've really understood how a talented acting can pull off a not-too-strong script.
To this it should be added that in the film successfully selected music, always appropriate and beautiful.
As I mentioned, I watched the movie twice. For the first time, I noticed wonderful soundtracks, laughed at jokes and didn’t understand whether there was logic and connection in the events taking place on the screen. Moreover, many dialogues in the film are literally a set of replicas, often completely unrelated to each other and do not follow from each other. Well, it's a crazy movie, what is it?
The second time I was just admiring the acting, resigned to the idea that the depth and versatility of the plot I can not comprehend and subtle philosophy do not understand. Maybe I should watch it a third time, but I give up. That's why my assessment is
7 out of 10
- a pleasant movie with great acting and great music, with good jokes, but a fairy tale plot.
But since I was expecting something more vital, more dramatic, less “fairytale”, I am withdrawing a couple of points. And one more for the creepy dance at the end.
- The world is very harsh, guys! Is it hard to say, “Let’s be positive and write a happy ending?” ?
A year ago I noticed this movie, but the trailer somehow did not impress and did not want to watch. Just a couple of days ago I came across him quite by accident and decided that perhaps the time has come.
What can I say? I really liked the movie! I haven’t seen anything about sex for a long time, and I’m glad I got this picture.
Pat is a guy who just left the hospital. For everyone around him, he is strange and a little dangerous - so people either keep their distance in communication or avoid it altogether. Meanwhile, he is quite a pleasant companion, trying to think positively and get his beloved wife back. What's crazy about Pat? Yes, the reason he got into the hospital was the brutal beating of a man. But did he do it for no reason? Perhaps his psychosis is justified?
Throughout the film, I’ve been thinking about what a cute and interesting character Bradley Cooper has—thank you so much! A great moment was with the book Hemingway: I laughed and mentally agreed with the arguments of the main character. In general, everything about Pat causes me only positive feelings.
Tiffany is an eccentric madam, and, perhaps, the complete opposite of the beloved wife of the main character. There was a grief in her life that she was coping with very... peculiarly. However, it does not work at all to condemn her for this - rather, I want to sympathize and regret.
And then these two "weird" people met. And they gave each other what no one else could give them - the hope that everything would be fine.
It would seem that against the background of all the others, “normal”, they are out of balance. But how do these “normal” people live? Are they happy? Is Pat's friend happy with his wife, who controls his every move? In fact, it turns out that when you are a little “hello” – only then you allow yourself to abstract from the gray everyday life and begin to see the world in a new way.
And to be honest, I myself have long held this opinion, so the picture fell to my taste and left behind pleasant memories.
I didn’t see any elements of the art house here, or the beat-up Hollywood plot – just a cute movie about the fact that everyone has the right to happiness. It never hurts to think positively.
Recommendations: watch people from time to time think about how well you can live life, if not drowned in routine.
This is a very simple and at the same time very complex story about people. About their relationships, their problems. That no matter if you're okay, you can find your happiness. That all people are driven in their own way, crazy in their own way, and it is not always clear where madness begins, and where relationships, ordinary relationships are not quite normal people. Maybe every normal person is a little crazy.
It’s a great feeling when you’ve seen a movie and something goes on fire inside you want to share it with the rest of you.
I think this time the translators just went down. Their translation of the title distorted the essence of the film. My boyfriend sounds crazy, as if the story is from a specific person, and also a girl. And the implication is that she's not crazy, unlike her boyfriend. Anyone who has seen the film will realize that this is wrong.
Yes, at the end of the film there are a few lines spoken from a particular person, but no. This is not a story from the perspective of one person – we seem to be watching them from the outside, looking at what is happening there. We look at them in a way that they cannot see from the outside. Like all of us, we can't. You may think your relationship is normal, but look at it from the outside and everything appears in a completely different light.
I think this movie kind of tells us-look at yourself, aren't you the same? Aren't you arguing? Stop thinking of yourself as better than others. Because you are beautiful only when you act naturally, when you are yourself. And that's not bad.
The plot is simple and complex at the same time. The main thing is, of course, actors. And in this movie they are amazing!
They played great, and for good reason they were all nominated for Oscars! You will not get bored on any stage, so everything is alive and close to us. The film consists entirely of conversations, but it is not boring. At the same time, the comedy component, plus drama, and you get a lot of positive emotions, experiences, extraordinary sensations and a pleasant aftertaste after watching.
Separately, the word about the Denny Elfman soundtrack is always great. Easy, non-obtrusive theme immediately fell to the soul, spins in my head, it is simple and simple, but how extraordinary it is! This is actually rare, and this is undoubtedly the most important criterion that is worth judging about the soundtrack.
What else can I say? After the film there are very warm emotions, good mood. Without spoilers, you can not convey the entire atmosphere, and you do not need this, you should just watch this film.
By the way, I looked at the professional translation, and it was good that I did not watch the dubbing. The voices of actors are very important, a lot of emotions are transmitted here through them. I'm afraid dubbing ruined everything as usual. I will definitely check out the original.
Such high-quality paintings in this style are very rare. So this movie is definitely worth watching.
This film from the very beginning attracted its cast, a certain cult in the world of cinema and I firmly decided to watch it, whether it is a “bab” film or not.
Pat suffers from a mental breakdown and, after 8 months of therapy in Baltimore, returns home. Everything seemed the same, the house was standing, the interior had not changed, the people in the town were the same, but Pat notes that everyone avoids him and treats him with contempt, including his father. Everyone is afraid of him, and not in vain, because in some places he behaves violently, but this is how he expresses his state of mind.
Soon he meets Tiffany, a girl with her strangeness and cockroaches in her head, and a certain connection is formed between them that will radically change their lives.
In 2012, David O. Russell released My Boyfriend is a Psycho, which became very popular and earned one Oscar and 7 nominations, but I think the film deserves more.
The cast is perfect. The beloved Bradley Cooper of the 2000s proved that he can play both funny roles (Bachelors, All About Steve, Team A) and serious roles (Midnight Express). And the director did the right thing to bring him here. It's a 100% hit. So exciting and realistic the image of a guy with oddities, no one could create, this image is inherent only to Cooper and it is for this image, as for many others, Cooper received recognition and I hope that he will rise to many heights.
I noticed Jennifer Lawrence for the first time in this film and I hope to see more of these films with her. She created an eccentric and impulsive heroine who sometimes behaves like a psychopath, but at heart she is a very sensitive person who wants to live like everyone else, in love and understanding. The heroine is selfless and vulnerable, but always strives for her goals. Bravo, Jenny!
Sir Robert de Niro played well here, even very much, creating at first the repulsive image of a phlegmatic father, a goat and a bastard, but soon the feelings of fatherhood began to manifest themselves and soon he decided to change his attitude to both his son and his wife and friends.
The plot in the film is not fixed on one line, it is not just a straightforward action, it is life. The film combines various themes that affect various human factors: there is love, separation, and family relations, and loyalty to friendship, and torment of the past, and the experiences of the characters, and the themes of society.
It is also worth thanking the composer, who created a beautiful musical palette for this picture, filling it with various colors.
Result: An excellent film, touching, funny, instructive, touching on various topics that are important in our lives.
I don’t know about you, but the film hooked me and besides how to call it a masterpiece, without further words, I can not do anything.
Watch and enjoy life, do not be afraid to commit insane acts and let your feelings out!

There is nothing more interesting and informative than human relations.
Society defines the framework of behavior, sometimes not allowing a person to be himself, thus making them crazy, therefore, a person has a lot of questions to himself; Why am I different? What's wrong? How do you find happiness? How do you become normal? This film will answer all the questions about your “normality.”
I have to admit that I judged the film very subjectively, because I am in love with this picture. Of course, I want to celebrate the play of the main characters, because for a reason the film was awarded many nominations and Oscars for the main female role. The heroine, played by the outstanding actress Jennifer Lawrence, conquers with her deep inner world, her individuality, her sincerity is naked in front of people, absolutely direct and so beautiful in the role of a girl who is condemned by everyone! She does not try to look right to others, and therefore society rejects her, putting a stigma on her. Another thing Bradley, he aspires to be “normal”, seeks to join society, become his own, not standing out, and therefore heal and regain his Love! After meeting Tiffany, his intricate inner world changes for the better, these beautiful changes are noticed by everyone, including his ex-wife, for whom he worked so hard to heal. The film can be discussed for a long time, because it reveals many facets of mental illnesses that are not treated with drugs and pills.
This film will leave you a lot of pleasant sensations and themes for thought. A rare film for a special audience.
After watching this movie, I have mixed feelings. Reading reviews about it, you can find either sharply positive or sharply negative. I believe that “my crazy guy” is a worthy representative of his genre, because melodrama is a melodrama, and complaining about the “classic American ending” in it is the same as criticizing a horror film because it is scary.
The beauty of the film is that everything is done so qualitatively and unobtrusively that from this film I have only positive emotions. I would not say that the plot is banal and boring - it was very interesting to watch the development of events.
But the best thing is that the actors who play the main roles, they like a ray of hope in this film, drag it to another level on their shoulders and do not make it banal. Honored Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, as always, demonstrates excellent acting, sincerity and strong character. She managed to give her character an amazing energy and dynamics. You don’t even think that Lawrence can be different – it’s so natural and fits her. Bradley Cooper was pleasantly surprised; a very talented person, with whom in the future I want to watch new films. The role is much more serious than in the famous “Bachelor in Vegas”, but Cooper can be different, remaining sincere. And concludes this beautiful picture of Robert de Niro, whose play, as always, on top.
In the beginning, there were a little boring dialogue, but it is not so much striking – the actors managed to convey to the audience the meaning of what is happening more with their emotions, facial expressions and gestures than with replicas. There are several actors who did not look at the background of those who played the main roles. I would like to remove a couple of scenes with their participation and more show Lawrence and Cooper – between their characters formed an amazing relationship; they from the very beginning it was easy to communicate, although at the beginning it was not clear what kind of feeling they have.
Very upset by the Russian translation of the title, in the original it sounds like “Silver Ray of Hope” and it conveys the whole essence and atmosphere of the film – Pat has a ray of hope, he can become better! A good American melodrama / comedy, shot qualitatively and pleasantly, can not but please the eye and leaves a lot of good emotions.
When this movie came out, I was skeptical. It’s just a comedy, which is a huge amount. But after a while, he was nominated for an Oscar, immediately in 7 nominations. So I took a note of it. And finally, after looking, I hasten to share my impressions with you.
The plot is interesting, although at first the film is not perceived easily, but somewhere in the middle looks in one breath. A loving husband, a good teacher, and just a great person is in the wrong place, at the wrong time. He catches his wife with another man. Typical situation in many films. He attacks his lover and beats him to death. The court decides to send Pat for treatment in a psychiatric clinic. After eight months at the clinic, Pat returns and wants to start with a clean face. But as we know, everything is not so simple in this world. His father is unemployed, trying to open a restaurant with money from bets. The mother is already worried about her husband, and then the son is still a complete psychopath. Everything is complicated by the fact that Pat himself sets himself a difficult task - to return his wife. But it’s still a movie, not a cruel life, and there’s got to be a positive character to fix it. And there is. However, this is not a cute fairy, this is a crazy, eccentric girl who just lost her husband. Interesting union, isn't it? Everyone has a goal and by helping each other, they achieve everything. But do they need it now? Maybe they found what they've been looking for so long. As you know, happiness is near. And love is even closer.
I want to celebrate the great performance of the actors. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence have created a beautiful duet. I am always amazed at how talented she is and how much she has achieved despite being 23. I’m so glad she got an Oscar for this movie.
Bottom line: The movie is wonderful! You can not only have a good time, but also think very well. This story helps us understand what love is. How inconspicuous it can be at first, and how it can change you.
In the life of every person there can be bad times when life causes you insane pain and suffering, and it seems that there is no way out. In such moments, a person can rely solely on himself, because only he can help himself. When a black streak comes in life, it is necessary to tune in to the positive inside and be able to see something good in everything bad. That's what the main character of the best romantic comedy in recent years "My boyfriend is crazy."
Synopsis Former schoolteacher Pat has recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital after he caught his wife cheating on him with his work colleague. Returning home, Pat sets a goal to make amends and get his wife back. However, in his life suddenly appears a girl named Tiffany, who will change Pat forever.
Game of actors The most important thing that distinguishes the film is the role of the main actors. Not surprisingly, the film was nominated in all four Academy Award nominations. Bradley Cooper played Pat Saltano Jr., an unusual guy who tries to figure himself out with the support of his parents and close friends. The brightest role belongs to Jennifer Lawrence, who with each new film more and more amazes brilliant beyond his years talent. In the film, she embodied the image of an extraordinary girl who had to endure a much more terrible loss than Pat, but at the same time managed to cope with the pain, let the unconventional methods and save Pat. Secondary laurels belong to Robert de Niro and Jackie Weaver, who played the caring parents of Pat, ready to go to great lengths for the happiness of their beloved son.
Directorship In my opinion, David O. Russell is certainly worthy of the Academy Award for Best Director, because this time he managed to shoot something masterpiece that goes deep into the soul after each viewing. A distinctive feature of the picture in terms of directing is its vitality and naturalness. Watching the events taking place in the film, it seems that you have become the heroes of the picture, so everything looks natural.
Scenario The plot of the film is an observation of the transformation of the main character from an impulsive neurotic to a confident person in his decisions. At the beginning of the film, he appears as a traumatized man who is forced to pretend to be an optimist in order to create an ideal world for himself. But the real world is stronger, which leads to disruption. However, the appearance of Tiffany radically changes his worldview.
Result These days, it is rare to see really good romantic comedies that are distinguished by talented acting, a magnificent plot and a deep, even philosophical meaning. “My Boyfriend is a Psycho” is one of such films, which deserves to be among the classics of cinema.

“Signs are everywhere, the main thing is to be able to see them.
Love. This topic is devoted to an infinite number of songs, novels and films. The subject is eternal, and so familiar to everyone. “My boyfriend is crazy” not only touches on the topic of love, but also gives you to think about other things.
It's not just a story about two lovers, it's more than that. When you see the picture, you realize how crazy the world is. Seriously, all people with their “cockroaches” in their head, each in his own crazy. There is a line between madness and reality. You just have to see it.
The film gives food for the mind, in the theme of love. Despite any problems, you can not close and you need to move on. Everyone has the right to a chance, but you need to see it and in no case, you can not miss it! The main character emerges from a mental hospital, obsessed with the idea of returning to his wife and returning everything to its place. But there is another in his life. This is the main story of the painting.
“My Boyfriend is a Psycho” gathered a lot of great actors: the legendary Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, the talented and ambitious Jennifer Lawrence and many others. The performance of all actors is inimitable! At many moments, even tears appear, believe in everything that happens on the screen.
This picture left very vivid impressions. During the film, you are rooting for the main character, experiencing every emotion with him. But most importantly, each viewer can emphasize something from this story.
While watching the film, there was a feeling that it was a very good director’s work in a frankly weak script. The actors (especially Jennifer Lawrence) are good, but the feeling that they are constrained by the script is not the director, but the story itself, there are great scenes, but there is no integrity. Often it seems that a lot was thought out in the process on the knee. Here, for example, this friend of the main character from the psychiatric hospital is a Negro. After all, the adaptation of the book is, I think, a very difficult thing (I did not read the book right away, I will warn you), you need to somehow shove it into an hour and a half, leaving the most important thing, leaving the spirit behind, you can not throw away time. So why would I know what the Negro's problem is, why would I know about his hair, why would he even show up? Without him, I think nothing would have changed for the film. If I am not a racist, I would say the same about anyone. Completely indistinct secondary characters, do not take De Niro, who will be good everywhere, as there charisma appears from the screen. I wanted to take a break and see what kind of a bastard such a shitty movie, but I think until the end I will look for a screenwriter. And then the film ends and you are the writer and director David O. Russell, and everything falls into place.
Do not try to varnish all the tithes at once, you can stay hungry. In general, in my opinion, the director, having taken over the script, limited himself, and did not let this film become very good in my eyes (although I do not think he is very worried about this), he became normal.
6.5 out of 10
Once again I am convinced that the film adaptation is evil. Here was not a brilliant, but a kind and sentimental book about the mentally ill, finding in each other the way to recovery. I read it and thought about it, and how the hell do you put on the screen the inner monologue of the protagonist and the silence that grows into mutual understanding? It is necessary to be wow-go what actors to make a romantic story from monotonous joint runs!
And David O. Russell didn't think deeply. An internal monologue? No way! Let Bradley Cooper play an unbalanced cattle in a tracksuit. Chemistry between characters? From the forms of Jennifer Lawrence boils anyone, and if you make her spew curses and actively wave your hands, you will get a fire. Relationship? Let them yell at each other, so the viewer will not die of boredom. Secondary characters also do not need to be faithful to the source. A father who doesn't talk to his son and locks himself in his office is not cinematic. But Robert De Niro, whatever he mumbles, will definitely attract additional viewers. The rest of the team will be recruited internationally, so that God forbid not to clap accusations of racism. In total, we have a collection of stars of different sizes, gathered to shout at each other and hysteria in front of the camera.
For those of you who haven't seen psychos up close, welcome to this exhausting masquerade ball. Scenes of group skirmishes are not as funny as it may seem, because all the salt is evaporated from the plot. The cause of the main character’s personality disorder is revealed at the very beginning, depriving the viewer of the opportunity to guess director’s clues and acting talent on the coffee grounds. Well, the end of Pat and Tiffany's showdown is as clear as day. If the book could clearly distinguish the stages of awareness of the disease and the fight against it, then here the characters do not change and continue to behave like crazy people. What caused Pat to abandon Nikki is completely unclear.
The film seems completely meaningless, illogical and simply boring. Lawrence won an Oscar, although she never played an adult aunt, and she looks even younger with Cooper than she really is. Apparently, to choose this year the academicians were not from anyone, so handed out statuettes young and beautiful. Well, you can do that. The crisis of ideas is essentially a crisis of people. One thing is surprising: that not a very good book, it turns out, can be spoiled.

Best Actress of the Year?! It's kind of crazy... Or politics. One of two. Or both at once.
No, I understand, of course, that in order to dance badly, one must first learn to do the same very well. But... It's just an episode! Maybe I missed some even more valuable scene from the point of view of acting?
Weird... But let’s leave aside the main female role, although, I repeat, if there is no one at all (anything may not have been a year, well now) was to hand over the cherished statuette – the same D. Lawrence was much more logical to present it for openly pop “The Hunger Games” than for an ordinary, unremarkable, completely unfunny romantic, allegedly comedy.
And God with him, with R. De Niro, he, such a feeling, is simply not destined to wait for a normal project, and the nomination for the role of another idiot is quite natural at least from the standpoint of past merit (however, sometimes I begin to think (so far it seems, I emphasize, but nevertheless) that this is more myth than fact. So and then he is not remembered in the first place in the crowd of “statists”, creating the depth of the frame! Think about it! The world is falling apart, no other way.
Personally, I would mention K. Tucker and D. Ortiz. These guys really worked out their contracts for a hundred. There is no reason (because there is no scale) to talk about awards and everything else, but there is a result: their characters are remembered, despite the minimum spoken aloud text.
And yet I am surprised by the unprecedented favor not only of critics, but also of the average viewer in relation to this film. What did he deserve? The plot is not at all intriguing. You do not feel a spiritual disposition towards the main characters who found each other. There is no reason to welcome the final settlement in the sense of distribution of financial and other related benefits. What's left? The vitality of history? With a track record like that? Don't make me laugh.
But then what?! I have no idea. So I'm just putting
This film of a very interesting director David O. Russell was extremely warmly received by world film critics and received as many as eight nominations for the Oscar, including for the best film of the year. Also, “My boyfriend is crazy” became the first film since 1981 nominated in all acting nominations.
The story told in the film at first glance is very simple, but, in my opinion, the movie turned out to be very curious and non-trivial. Coming home one day, the main character of the film teacher Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) finds his wife with another man. In a rage, Pat beats his wife’s lover half to death, for which he is sent to a psychiatric hospital. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia. After 8.5 months in the hospital, the protagonist returns to his parents. He wants his wife back by proving to her that he has changed. But everything in his life is complicated when he meets a girl Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), who, like him, does not have everything at home. As the slogan of the picture says: "For every psycho there is a crazy woman."
I really liked the movie. O. Russell made a touching and funny movie that forces not only the main character, but also us to look at the usual things from a different, amazing side. They talk about serious things in this movie with a smile and it’s really cool. They say that the movie is naive, but most interestingly, the filmmakers do not hide it. The script based on the book of the same name is simply magnificent. Such juicy dialogues, bright heroes have not seen for a long time.
All the characters in this film are crazy, each in his own way. Everyone has their own thing. But all heroes live for real, without pretense. Cooper and Lawrence have one of the best screen pairings of late. Bradley Cooper loved it and played his best role so far. Jennifer Lawrence is awesome. She has one of the brightest and most memorable female characters of recent years. Her Oscar win caused a lot of controversy and discontent. Of all the five nominees that year, I've only seen Lawrence so far, so I can't judge whether she won the case, but she's done a great job. De Niro was pleased, for a long time he did not play so brightly, but for what Jackie Weaver was nominated it is unclear.
“My guy is crazy” (stupid, by the way, the localization of the name, in the original film is called “Collection of rays of hope”) is a subtle and intelligent tragicomedy in which the director very skillfully holds the line – the film does not slide simultaneously into either a snotty drama, or a banal melodrama, or a stupid comedy.

David O. Russell is a master of storytelling. It manages to turn a simple (and even predictable) plot into an exciting two-hour film. The structural theme of the Silver Linings Playbook drama is the ability of “crazy” people to be more responsive, honest and adequate than “normal” people. I’ve overstated the definitions because the normality and abnormality in this film is a legal category. In fact, it is impulsive, hot-tempered Pat and Tiffany who are able to change their lives for the better, while all the other characters only seem satisfied with life.
The lead tandem in Silver Linings Playbook is Patrick "Pat" Solitano Jr. (Bradley Cooper) and Tiffany Maxwell (Jennifer Lawrence). At the beginning of the film, Pat, an adult handsome man, is taken from a psychiatric hospital by Dolores’ mother (Jackie Weaver). Pat was forced to undergo eight months of forced treatment to overcome his outbursts of uncontrollable anger. During his time in the correctional facility, Pat realized how important it is to think positively, not to succumb to despair or anger. And although Pat sometimes gets furious throughout the film, even for ridiculous reasons (for example, because of the book by Ernest Hemingway), he tries to stick to the chosen course.
Tiffany is a beautiful young woman suffering from nymphomania. Like Pat, Tiffany took potent medications for a while to cope with her mental illness, but eventually finds a goal that helps her find balance.
Throughout the film, Pat seeks to restore his marriage. Pat is admitted to a hospital after discovering that his beautiful and apparently intelligent wife, Nikki (Brea Bee), is cheating on him with a bald history teacher. In a rage, Pat nearly killed his wife's lover. Pat lost his job and a frightened Nikki fled the city. To prove to Nikki that he has become a different person, Pat agrees to perform at a dance contest with Tiffany, Nikki's girlfriend.
Nikki has mental problems after the tragic death of her beloved husband. After Tiffany had sexual relations with all employees at work, she was fired. For her, performing at a dance contest is a tribute to her deceased husband.
The entire cast of the Silver Linings Playbook is admirable. Bradley Cooper’s defenseless look and Jennifer Lawrence’s hard look would be enough to make the film look believable, but even the episodic characters are very convincing and their behavior is recognizable.
Supporting characters are ordinary people, “normal” people who are not sent behind barbed wire and who are not prescribed lithium. But it is these characters that demonstrate real inadequacy and inconsistency. Pat's friend Ronnie (John Ortiz), who lives in a big house with a beautiful wife, a man who has a decent job, complains to Pat that his whole life is choking him. Pat's brother Jake (Shea Wigham) apologises for not finding hours to visit his brother in eight months. A reporter for the school newspaper, Solitano's neighbor, is ready to dump someone else's dirty laundry on the court. Finally, Patricio "Pat" Solitano Sr. (Robert De Niro) is an unemployed man who is willing to sacrifice the well-being of his family for dubious bets on the result of football matches.
Silver Linings Playbook makes us believe that our destiny is in our hands, that in spite of any adverse circumstances, there will be someone who can understand us.
This is a simple and at the same time amazing story about how people suffering from loneliness and drowning in their personal grief, meet in order to finally light up with happiness. This film is recommended to watch all people who are depressed and do not know how to let go of the past. This is the story of the belief that everyone in this world has a soul mate.
“My Boyfriend is a Psycho” is a film that will spin you in its unstoppable light and joyful dance. This is a story about living people, about everyday problems that each of us can face, this is a story about us.
This wonderful film was decorated not only by Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Jackie Weaver, but also amazing music. You will dance, worry and laugh with the characters of the film.
If you are hurt, sad and just bored, turn on this movie. The mood is guaranteed.
P.S. Are we all a little sick? You will find the answer in this film. Watch a bright and good movie, you may recognize yourself.
While watching this picture, it seems that you are not in the cinema, or at home at the screen, but in the conservatory during a concert of the symphony orchestra. So skillfully, subtly and masterfully the entire film crew, led by the director, manipulates the relationships of the characters, and as a result, the emotions of viewers.
Here, madness and despair border on positive and hope. Risk with calculation. Sad with humor. The pain of a broken heart with the euphoria of falling in love. Magnificent, just amazing performance of the actors was able to convey the diversity of their characters. Bradley Cooper appears in the role of psychopath, then in the role of husband, son, friend, brother. Everywhere it is different, and every side is completely exposed. Without falsehood and falsehood, everything is natural, as in life. The same can be said for any hero. Take Robert de Niro, for example – we see his fatherly feelings, the next moment – sports excitement, fan spirit and willingness to put everything for the sake of his dreams. I want to mention separately Jennifer Lawrence, who was able to fill the carefully thought out image of her character, personal charisma and brilliant performance. In my subjective opinion, playing better is simply impossible.
And the main advantage of the film is that everything that happens in the film looks harmonious. The plot develops smoothly from the very beginning and does not let you get bored, until the final credits. However, the picture is clearly not suitable for viewing in noisy company. Although there is a comedic component in it, it is better to watch alone or with your soul mate. Otherwise, you simply will not notice all the subtleties and nuances that, coupled with an organic musical component, which is simply impossible not to notice, and interesting scenery (holidays, sports events, dance competition) - give rise to a truly very warm and soulful creation.

P.S. Special thanks for the joke with the garbage bag, in which Pat constantly ran, which caused wild bewilderment among others.
Do you know what it’s like to have a storm of emotions, thoughts, ambitions, and desires, but be rejected by everyone? To look into the eyes of your parents and see there is a complete misunderstanding and denial of every word? See a brutal betrayal, lose control and go to a mental institution for it? I didn't know. But the main character of this film knows. And he was able to show it so that now the viewer can know.
Actors. Most of all in the film I was fascinated by the trinity De Niro - Cooper - Lawrence. All three of them made me believe what was happening, made me sympathize with Pat, and absolutely sincerely. The first one is not worth talking about – it is always great! Wonderful actor, nothing more to add. Cooper is a master of reincarnation. When I compare his characters in the Vegas Bachelor Party, Areas of Darkness and this one, I am surprised again and again. He made me feel sad with him as if I were in his place. And Lawrence showed the upper class - impulsive, brave, desperate heroine - the pledge of audience sympathy and recognition. I’ve also played Jackie Weaver for the first time in a movie. She was just the kind of perpetual mom she really is. She was so supportive of her son, even though she knew he had a lot of problems. How many times did she try to reconcile him with her father, to whom she blamed again and again. I believed them all.
Plot. Yes, the ending with Pat and Tiffany was predictable in the first minutes of the film, but nevertheless incredibly pleasant. They became a great dance couple. Not without problems, of course, but does life go smoothly? And the desperate step that the girl took to keep Pat near her deserves praise. And in general, dancing improves any film.
The football matches that Pat's father loves so much fit in here. They added realism to the film because every dad loves football. Or another national sport.
Promoting a healthy lifestyle. Thank you to the directors for showing Cooper running through the streets in a trash bag. I even wanted to go and run before bed! No package, of course, but still. So from this film I benefited not only for the soul but also for the body.
Name. I managed to read angry reviews on the Internet that the translation of the title is completely incorrect and does not fit this film. Especially those who read the book that made the film. I took the name quite positively. In this case, the word “psychic” is not used in the pop sense in which we now perceive it – that is, it does not mean that the hero will do various funny stupid things that will not get on our heads and amuse us for an hour and a half. Nope. He's really in trouble. He has a serious mental disorder, he suffered a huge betrayal. So in this case I still consider the title appropriate, although I do not support non-literal translations.
I wish you all a pleasure. If you are still in doubt whether to watch this movie or not, I recommend it.

After watching the film, the emotions are mixed: on the one hand - not bad, on the other - not impressed at all.
Pet (Bradley Cooper) comes out of a psychiatric hospital. His goal is to reconcile with his wife Nicky, because of which he lost his temper, beating her lover. This helps him unstable girl Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence).
I would like to add the following:
1. Actors play. That’s what’s at its height, so the skill of the actors.
Bradley Cooper really looked like a mentally ill person. Just like Jennifer Lawrence, she won an Oscar for that role. The emotions, the look, even the smiles of these actors convey their inner state.
Also, Robert De Niro and Julia Stiles, noted in secondary roles are pleasing to the eye.
From such a seemingly calm plot, the actors made the candy their game!
2. Fun and driving dance. No comment here.
3. There's a lot to think about. It is true that for every person there is a person who only needs to be seen. Also, not all psychotics are crazy.
Of the minuses the same:
1. In my opinion, a bit of a boring plot. I got bored right away. It was only when the dance classes started. It was a bit more lively there. It's been a long time.
2. This is for me personally unjustified expectations. With that name, I was expecting something more crazy. But it’s everyone’s business what to expect from the movie.
3. I don't want to reconsider. It's a minus for me. I didn't get into it.
"My boyfriend is crazy" is not a bad movie. The main thing is not to expect something really crazy from him, but just to watch it. Something to think about.
I admire this film and the role of the main character (Jennifer Lawrence). Just list the positives of the film (a little confused, but sorry):
- not a banal comedy based on a template script - this is a real drama with a good plot and actors, and an unsuccessful translation of the film title should not confuse you;
You will be forced to watch this film carefully, without missing every detail, every dialogue, because otherwise you will not get full pleasure from watching.
- realistic behavior of the characters, explainable, involuntarily makes the viewer understand the motives of certain actions of each hero, even secondary;
- thoughtful dialogue, there is no banality, vulgarity or stupidity. What is worth only a declaration of love Pet. Asked by Tiffany, “Do you love me?” and answered “Yes,” Tiffany replies, “OK,” and stops crying.
In the film, I personally, in addition to thoughtful dialogues, liked the actress’s play (face expression, look). For example, pay attention to the first meeting of the main character (Pet) and the heroine (Tiffany), as she looks “invites”. Peta for dinner, clearly seducing him. Or the moment when Pet decides to ask Tiffany out on a date, how the expression of her face changes, how she lowers her head a little, looks at Pet as if from the side (playfully so), and immediately sets the time for the meeting and runs away. That was a great moment. And at the end of the movie. When, reading Pet’s letter, she understands everything, raises her eyes and looks at Pet (in her eyes she conveys both surprise, gratitude, relief, intrigue, and much more).
The strongest part of the film is the ending, starting with Pet and Tiffany coming to the dance competition ... not even, a little earlier, when Tiffany tied a tie to Petou before the competition. And then everything looks in one breath, again because of Jennifer's play. It was especially cool when Tiffany saw Pet’s wife, who shouldn’t be in the competition. Very talented and strong actress this Lawrence.
I put a ten.
The guy who gave Lawrence the Oscar for this role is crazy.
Pat (Bradley Cooper) emerges from a mental institution after spending 8 months there for beating his wife's lover. Returning to his parents, he decides to start from scratch, becoming a completely different person. The only thing that prevents him is a court decision prohibiting calls to his wife and approaching at a distance of less than 200 meters. He is also obliged to attend psychiatric consultations and take sedatives. Pat, obsessed with the idea of returning to his wife, whom he still loves, begins sports training, reading books, does not stop trying to contact him to explain his feelings, but another girl appears on his life path - Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), who confuses all plans.
IMDB scored 7.9 and Oscar nominations: Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Editing (for almost everything you can!). Enticing casting: Cooper, Lawrence, De Niro, Tucker! The declared genre: comedy, melodrama, comedy. And the fees that paid for the film 6.5 times made me not pass by this film. After all this, there was no limit to my disappointment.
The person who appropriated the genres of “comedy” and “melodrama” seems to have no idea about the genres themselves! The film does not smell of comedy, except for the moment when Tiffany admitted that she gave absolutely everyone at her past job (which led to internecine fights in the team because of her), and from the melodrama only the final dance of the characters. To sit all 2 hours without interruptions is simply unrealistic, I don’t know how people went to see him in the movies!
The film is a low-budget drama, where the lion’s share of the budget went to the royalties of famous actors. And why did he go to the box office as "My boyfriend is crazy"? They are all crazy in the film, that the main characters are secondary (in general, Russian translations of titles are an old story, they can never be looked at and guided, since they are invented by an unknown lunatic film distribution sect). Every minute we start to find out that everyone is crazy around, and then you stop wondering that Pat turned out just like this, because his parents, a new licentious acquaintance, friends, even the police, absolutely everyone is saying hello and everyone is constantly yelling! Between them, I did not hear catching dialogue, only swearing and shouting.
In the course of the film, our hero gradually falls in love with his new friend. Honestly, I don't understand what else he could have done in this situation? If her own wife turns out to be such a bitch that she cheated with some old historian to the music that played at their wedding, and at the same time a beautiful girl hangs around her neck who is 15 years younger than our unemployed convicted lunatic. Therefore, the end is predictable in detail 15-20 minutes after the start of viewing. Just waiting for the final dance (which did not impress, this is not “Step forward”), and the final declaration of love (also not an ice, this is not “Romeo + Juliet”).
It remains a mystery to me why the main character of the tape wanted to send a letter to his wife through Tiffany. It was like she was in a secret witness protection spot that only Tiffany knew about. Why couldn't he ask a close friend, after all, any kid on the street for 20 bucks? The wife did not file for divorce and did not even change the phone number, as well as the address, because Pat returns not to his house, shared with his wife, but to his parents. It's an obvious flaw.
I recommend watching only the fans. It is better to abstain, so as not to get a vacation in the hospital.
Who would have thought that a movie about crazy people could be so interesting! It was with that thought that I watched "My boyfriend is crazy." This film was the gray horse of the 2013 Oscars. And some who haven't seen it may wonder. How can a comedic melodrama have 8 nominations? And I'll tell you, yes, because she deserves it!
Here, the main trump card is, by no means, not the plot, not music, and even not humor, but acting. I have not seen such a great acting ensemble for a long time, 4 out of 4 acting nominations are certainly deserved, and I guessed with the fact that Jennifer Lawrence received the best actress role. I noticed this pretty young girl back in The Hunger Games, and I thought she had charisma, and My Boyfriend is Crazy confirmed that. How wonderful she played! Every second of her shot was accompanied by violent emotions, experiences, she really read passion. After such a wonderful game, you involuntarily begin to think that in life she is also a whore - a psychopath. Bravo Jennifer, you deserve your Oscar! Of course, Jennifer's "actor boom" in this film does not end. Bradley Cooper (the Vegas Bachelor Party trilogy), in which we all used to see Phil from a bachelor party, finally found a really good role. He very subtly turned out Pat, who does not consider himself a psychopath and is trying to restore the destroyed marriage with all his might, and this is evidenced not only by his speech, but also by facial expressions, especially the eyes, he got a real look of a psychopath. I was most worried about his character. This may be normal in the United States, but in Russia, sluts would put a man in a mental asylum who beat his wife’s lover. Of course, there were other reasons related to the split personality, but this is not about it. It was interesting to watch these two actors. Watching their characters, you see a really lively, nascent love without any lies, because crazy people can’t lie, and it’s really interesting! And as a kind of highlight, I want to note the skill of Robert De Niro and Jackie Weaver, they turned out to be a great couple of parents, especially interesting was the character of De Niro, with his superstitions.
Let me tell you more about the other parts of the film. In addition to the wonderful acting, the plot is well built here, it may seem long, but still the picture looks. The film was directed by David O. Russell. I liked his "Fighter" with Wahlberg and Bale, so in "My boyfriend is crazy" felt the handwriting of "Fighter", that is, the film really keeps you to the end. The only downside, in my opinion, is that the genre says it’s comedy, but it doesn’t smell like comedy. There are a couple of funny moments, but nothing more.
In general, “My boyfriend is crazy” is a good melodrama, which is worth watching at least for the sake of acting, the film really turned out to be interesting. If you decide to watch it, you will not regret it.
“My boyfriend is crazy” is a sensual and witty melodrama with a taste of drama and comedy, which is filled with a wonderful story and a bunch of unexpected moments. The film is lifelike and unlike anything. At first it seemed to me long, but then I could not break away from him and completely immersed in this story.
We see the main character, who caught his wife with a lover and beat up an opponent, and then thundered into a psychological clinic. A few months later he returns home, and his life changes dramatically, and he can not find a way out and calm after all this, but then he meets a charming and mysterious girl who lost her husband and became a widow, and we see the story of interesting and original communication and love of two broken hearts.
This movie is a great gift to fans of such films. It is very original, and make this film so sensual and memorable great actors. Bradley Cooper plays the main role in this melodrama. The actor handled the difficult role well, and I liked him, although his role was controversial and might not appeal to everyone. I didn’t like this actor very much before, but after this movie I started to sympathize with him. The biggest sympathy is the young and incredibly talented actress Jennifer Lawrence, who received the Academy Award for Best Actress for this role in this film. She fascinated me in this melodrama, and I fell in love with this interesting and difficult actress, and began to get acquainted with her work further. Her role was complex: very emotional and sophisticated, but the actress brilliantly coped with her. Robert De Niro in this film plays as always clearly and well, but of course he is old, but I still always enjoy seeing him in new films.
My Boyfriend is a movie that definitely deserves attention. The film is intriguing, and its story touches to the core. When you watch, you think about a lot of things that you didn’t think about before. In this melodrama, we see two broken hearts of the main characters and how they interestingly and incredibly recovered from their grief and found each other. I advise everyone who has not seen it to watch this movie and enjoy the wonderful and sweet history of these heroes and the talented and attractive acting of the charming and charming Jennifer Lawrence.

111 is how many minutes of my life I spent on this movie. There is no trace of comedy here, this creativity does not draw to a good drama either. I love psychotics, mental disorders and so on, but I never thought a movie about psychotics could be so boring. People have a bad sense of humor if the jokes in this movie are funny. .
The main character is a guy who returned from the hospital (and he got there because he almost beat his wife’s lover to death) and tries to rehabilitate himself in the eyes of others and return his wife. Well, somehow he's not convincingly playing a psycho, I can't believe it. You expect more from such an actor.
Father (Robert De Niro) - it's time to stop such a good actor to play in mediocre comedies (are comedies?) and portray not quite mentally healthy father / grandfather and so on. I want to see him in more serious films, where he can really show his acting skills, which undoubtedly has.
The girl Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) - again the heroine with her cockroaches in her head, she can also be called not quite healthy on the head. For some reason, it began to irritate from the first minutes of appearing on the screen. A man who draws so much attention to himself, who is proud of a piece of sh. chi in himself, and so on, does not elicit approval. Not in a movie like that.
From the very beginning, the film does not attract either its atmosphere or the actors. And it is not even interesting to know what will happen in the end and how the hero will solve his problems. This is a significant disadvantage, because the plot should capture and not let go until the last minute. And all would be fine if the jokes were at least “above average”, which is not observed here.
Psychics are different. But such psychopaths do not please me at all.
P.S. The review does not pretend to be objective, it is my subjective opinion.
"My boyfriend is a psycho" (original title - "A collection of rays of hope") is a very touching and at the same time funny adaptation of the tragicomic novel of the same name by Matthew Quick.
The plot revolves around former teacher Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper), who spent 8 months in a psychiatric hospital and now, returning to his parents' home, tries to reconcile with his wife. Everything goes according to plan until Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence).
The film looks in one breath, you empathize with the characters, trying to understand the source of their problems and misfortunes. There are no pathos dialogues, everything is very simple and sincere. The actor’s play remains on top: Bradley Cooper is different in any picture, and Jennifer Lawrence conquers the viewer with her genuine emotions. (Why she and the Oscars did not stint to give!) Their characters in this picture are very bright, unpredictable, amazing... and a little crazy.
I won’t talk much about supporting actors, but Robert De Niro, Jackie Weaver, Chris Tucker, Julia Stiles and others undoubtedly contributed to the development of the plot. It is worth noting the humor, which will be understandable to everyone: it does not burden and does not make you think about what is said for a long time, which is indescribably pleasing. Everyone will learn some lesson from these 120 minutes, but the main thing is not to cling to the past, let it go, look around and be able to grab your happiness, which is so close.
“You have to do the impossible.” You have to work hard. And if you succeed, you are positive, you have a ray of hope.
For all the above I put

And I said, I've added this movie to my favorite movie list.
Love. What is this? According to some, this is a relationship based on trust, mutual understanding, devotion and the desire to give everything to a loved one, others believe that this is a quiet confidence that a loved one will not go anywhere and will always be there. Unfortunately, this term does not have a specific definition, and it is unlikely that it will ever appear. It is somewhat unusual to start a review with such words, but here is a picture of love. Of course, it touches on other topics – the desire for the desired, the cherished goal. Relationships between relatives and friendship.
A ray of hope should be sought in everything. The main character's name is Pat. As a result of a nervous breakdown, he spends eight months in a psychiatric hospital, but then his mother comes to pick him up and returns him to his parents' home. From this moment, Pat begins the difficult path to self-improvement for the sake of his ex-wife, in order to get her back. All would be fine, but the best friend of our hero introduces him to a charming girl Tiffany, who, like Pat, suffers from some mental disorders. It will take a long time, but in the end he will realize that happiness is closer than we think, that silvery ray of hope, it is very close, the main thing is not to lower it Pat.
David O. Russell’s painting My Boyfriend is one of my favorites. The film certainly deserves its awards. I would like to share that the film attracted me all the same, first of all, actors, first of all, it was Bradley Cooper, lately it seems to me that only the participation of this actor in the film is necessary and he is doomed to success. After all, the game, the dramatic play of Cooper has repeatedly been recognized even by the most ardent critics, but here he was really a living character, according to Pat it was clear that this is an ordinary guy who really has problems, he needed the help of loved ones and only thanks to this help he achieved success. I was delighted with Jennifer Lawrence, and not only delighted, she is charming, she is both luxurious and vulnerable, she so vividly shows the feelings and emotions of Tiffany, showed us the pain of losing a loved one, showed us anger, and even what, one scene with a breakdown deserves separate comments, but first of all she showed us what friendship is and what true love is. To the already magnificent cast is added another key figure - the incomparable Robert De Niro. It’s hard for me to say anything against this actor, and is it possible to criticize him in any way? Definitely no, his participation in this picture and acting led me to unrestrained delight, I give my preferences to this actor.
The film was based on Matthew Quick’s novel The Silver Ray of Hope, but I decided to read it after watching the film, and it was great. The book expands the scope of what is happening, the action lasts longer and naturally the number of events doubles. I will not be too distracted by the book, I will say only one thing, if you as well as I sincerely fell in love with the main characters and you liked the film, then you should definitely read this wonderful work.
A great movie that is neither deep drama nor any of the monotonous American love stories. It's more than that. Perhaps Matthew Quick and David O. Russell consider this creation nothing more than an ordinary story with unusual circumstances, but personally I think that such a story has a kind of magic that we do not notice, you should cherish your family, friends, people who are ready to help you even in the most difficult moments, you need to be able to forgive, cherish friendship and of course love.
Sometimes I want to see something light. Clean, good and not without grace. Such that the soul remained pleasant impressions, and the smile for some time did not leave the face. If you are looking for something like this, this is the movie for you.
Pat, played by Bradley Cooper, recently came out of a mental hospital. He's still obsessed with his wife, whose lover he beat so fiercely. A recent inmate of a mental hospital believes that he has changed and wants only one thing - to restore his marriage. But, she appears - a bright ray of madness, charm and madness. Tiffany, performed by Jennifer Lawrence.
I will tell you more about the secondary characters who create a unique atmosphere in the film. This is Pat’s father, played by Robert De Niro, obsessed with superstitions and stakes, a caring mother, a “model couple” performed by John Ortiz and Julia Stiles, obsessed with iPods in every room, and of course, no less crazy friend who knows a lot about dancing “on black” and long hair.
I'm going to play Jennifer Lawrence. Intrigued by her role in The Hunger Games, she was once again able to impress with her inimitable inner charm and play. The role of a frank and crazy widow was simply excellent.
P.S. You should probably find someone as crazy as you, reading the signs around you more carefully.
8 out of 10
The main advantage of the film is its atmosphere. We are talking about a psycho, and the viewer has a feeling that he is in a real mental hospital, all two hours really go crazy together with the main characters, as a healthy person is difficult to understand the thoughts, actions, relationships of the characters. It was this main feature - abnormal psychological situation - depressing, and sometimes frankly annoying, several times there was a wild desire to turn off the film, but... One of the main plot moves - the letter of the protagonist to his wife - was calculated at the very beginning, and I wanted to confirm my guesses. That's why I held on to it. And I have to admit, the last 20 minutes of the movie was worth the rest of the time. This whole madhouse eventually turns into normal human behavior. Quite imperceptibly, several psychopaths become full members of society. How did this happen? Gradually moving along the path of madness, they at some point came to the ladder of health, and it is difficult to say when exactly it happened, it was a gradual process, and thanks to this, as it turned out in the finale, it was interesting to watch.
Another plus was dancing. Unfortunately, there were not many of them in the film, but each episode was happy. The final marathon in the end fascinated: such cohesion, a sense of partner, an eye-to-eye look... Very beautiful! And it's hard to imagine any other sport or joint activity that would help people get away from their problems so well, feel each other and fall in love.
There's not much to talk about. I didn’t see anything special in him that deserved special attention. All the "chips" that the authors tried to bring were solved instantly. The acting also can not be called neither brilliant nor disastrous, middle peasant, although in some places the actors still overplayed ... I will not say that the film is a failure, but I would have lived without it, that’s for sure.
5 out of 10
The film was to be called “Me, My Family and Everyone Around Me Are Psycho.”
Who's gonna argue with me? The whole movie is crazy. In all, even the most banal scenes, the characters scream, rage, break everything around, fight. Of course, I understand that this is typical of psychotics, but what are we looking at? We see such “noisy scenes” at work and in public places. Expected to see drama, melodrama, but it turned out something else.
Yes, the actors, I think, coped well, their composition surprised. I always liked Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence after The Hunger Games, Robert De Niro is an absolute favorite of the public. But they played about nothing, in my opinion.
All two hours forced himself to inspect, and sometimes reduced the size of the screen and did not know what on the Internet, listening only to dialogue. Of course, there were some interesting moments. Comedy is enough, because in the title as there is no word “psych”. Any, even the simplest phrase voiced by the characters caused laughter.
I also enjoyed dancing in the final scenes. There's no doubt Pat and Tiffany have a yellow paper in their pocket. And the rest of the film is weak, boring and fresh.
Love and mental disorders against the background of one-story America.
Directed by a nugget D. Russell does a piece film. How Class A stars agree to work with him remains a mystery to me, but many are happy with the results. Having created a number of luxurious predominantly male tapes, such as the Three Kings and my favorite biopic of the last ten years - Fighter with Bale/Wahlberg, David O. Russell invades and strongly (judging by the Oscar nominations and long stay in the leaders of the box office of the United States) in a genre that has recently almost exhausted. I do not take into account snotty romantic comedies for immature minds, where a boy fell in love with a girl (or vice versa), while older people already get bored in the 10th minute, i.e. the fact that the genre has reoriented to a teenage audience.
In some incredible way Silver Linings Playbook brings the moldy genre to a new level. Stereotypes and boundaries are broken. He's diagnosed, and so is she. Instead of birds and romance, this is a reality in the form of scandals, complicated relationships with parents. Looking at Cooper and De Niro, I have no doubt that these people did not feel their characters, that in their heads are royalties and only that they are superstars. The same applies to the bright man performed by a very charismatic and unconditionally gifted Jennifer Lawrence.
There is such a wonderful Soviet science fiction film "Through Thorns to the Stars". So WFP is also through thorns. At first, he thought she was a whore. Then they disputed who was more sick. He's married. And against this background, there is no common ground except for mental disorders. Gradually, the script draws events that won not only academicians (8 nominations are not a joke), but also viewers. The argument at the parents' house, with Jennifer's chic serve/play escalating into dancing, is a pretty clever, subtle and beautiful strike in this all-morbid world. And the denouement that illuminates all that is dark in their lives.
Cinema is not pop, so it will not be accepted by the majority. A good movie should not be liked by those who eat everything. So if you’re excited about the Hunger Games Bachelor Party, it’s far from certain that these actors will make you happy with these roles.
Despite the fact that former teacher Pat just came out of a mental hospital after eight months of forced treatment, he assures everyone that his health is in perfect order. However, on the very first night, Pat takes out the window glass with a book by Hemingway only because the finale of the novel “Farewell to Arms” is not good for him. But the book is still lucky, which can not be said about the elderly lover of his wife, who got on nuts after Pat caught his faithful with him in the bath. This long-standing event still exasperates the deceived husband, but did not deprive him of the hope of ever reuniting with the unfaithful wife. Perhaps Pat would have gone to the intended goal, if one day he did not cross the road Tiffany – a young widow, and no less exalted person of the opposite sex, sleeping on the occasion of mourning with all his colleagues.
Russell falls out of the stereotype of American directors. Personally, I still don’t know who he thinks about in the first place – about himself or the audience. The fact that the latter did not particularly care about him could be seen in the debut film, where it was among other things about “far from the most popular form of incest” – between mother and son. Russell loves atypical characters, whose number of cockroaches in the head is difficult to calculate. In this film, the main couple can seriously compete with Dad Pat - an active pensioner, pushed on American football to such an extent that for the sake of the Philadelphia Eagles in the playoffs, he is ready to abandon even his own son and change his opinion seven times if he does not work for the victory of his favorite team.
But it seems that Russell “covered” a typical author’s syndrome. This is when a director cannot overcome the flaws of his own script, too meticulously recreating everything that he invented and written on paper. Despite the fact that almost everyone is overexcited to the extreme, the action seems to tread still and does not hurry to move from the zero mark. The result was not a hysterically funny comedy, as one would have hoped, but rather a comedy of hysterics (plus neuroses, addictions, schizophrenia, etc.). The difference seems small, but fundamental.
The film, originally called “Silver Ray of Hope”, received a much more enticing title, which is quite correlated with the main trends of the past year. But the name alone was not enough to become a hit: 200 thousand viewers in Russia – still not a reason to enroll the movie in the category of box office favorites. However, David O. Russell never made hits, but this does not prevent him from regularly supplying nominees for the most prestigious awards, especially acting.
Despite the fact that Jennifer Lawrence is only 22 years old, her track record includes almost two dozen films. Just for the season, this in the recent past serial girl has rapidly increased fees: from 500 thousand dollars for the “Hunger Games” to 10 million for their second part, which will be released this year. And along with the income, prizes and awards began to appear: it was she who brought the comedy “My Boyfriend is Psycho” the only Golden Globe. And a month later, Lawrence took another real chance to put on his personal shelf much more weighty award. This not yet familiar actress, I think, takes here not so much acting skills as natural female magnetism. I want to look at this girl without stopping. But keep in mind that this magnetism, as it appears, also evaporates, so hurry to use it while it is.
