You know, I almost never write film reviews. Rarely there is a desire to take and leave a piece of your soul to be torn apart by strangers. And rarely films amaze me so much that I certainly want to share my impressions literally with the whole world!
But that's the case today. I think there is no need to say that lately Russian cinema is far from in its best form, I think anyone will prefer Hollywood novelty domestic. But must there be nice exceptions? Legend #17 became such an exception. This film showed that all is not lost for us, since our compatriots are still able to produce such a lively, sincere, real cinema.
I have never been particularly interested in sports, but there have been times in my life when I, clenching my fists, not restraining the patriotism that overwhelmed me, reacting violently, followed the success of our country in various world-class competitions. You know how proud you are of your country no matter what. This film was another reminder of the greatness of our country and our people.
Vitaly Kharlamov became a legend, having achieved everything in life independently, through difficulties, through pain, through numerous tests for strength, he proved to the whole world that he should remember his name forever.Danila Kozlovsky coped perfectly with his role, in his eyes I saw everything: pain, joy, disappointment, hope, and finally sincere happiness. The merit of the coach, Anatoly Tarasov, of course, no less. What would the team achieve without this tough, principled, but so passionate and infinitely kind inside a person who put his soul into achieving such success, bringing our team to the world level and showing who is who in the world of hockey?
The whole film I was sitting on needles, experiencing with the characters, despite the rather impressive timekeeping, the film looks easy, in one breath. The final match is just a peak of tension. I was shaking with the emotions that overwhelmed me, I laughed through tears as they showed all our people who dared not to tear themselves away from the TV, afraid to miss even a second of this phenomenal spectacle (the film has a lot of really funny, sincere and warm jokes), I cried through my teeth when Canadians used very aggressive methods of playing and internally shouted “Goal!”, every time our scored, rejoicing with the whole country. I experienced a storm of emotions and patriotism, which I really missed.
I am very glad that our viewers appreciated this film, that they did not criticize and find fault, but simply missed it all through the soul and once again remembered one of the great achievements of our country.
Although I watch mostly foreign cinema and have a very biased attitude towards ours, this film was a revelation for me. Only the Russians could make this movie. Because it is for Russians, about Russians and with a Russian soul.
Somehow it so happened that my attitude to the domestic film industry leaves much to be desired, so despite a large number of positive reviews and an unexpected assessment of the KP for the Russian film, I was still worried that the tape about one of the best hockey players in the world would be “so-so”.
Due to the circumstances, I was not even in the thoughts of my parents, when Valery Kharlamov brought terror to goalkeepers around the world, under the guidance of the best coach Anatoly Tarasov. But I did find out about the super series and number 17. He amazed me. Fast, with phenomenal technique, how he handled the puck so much is not clear to me. Playing hockey, trying to repeat his tricks and strokes, I was convinced again and again why no one has the right to wear the same number 17 on the back for the Russian national team. Quoting Ilya Kovalchuk: “Number 17 is sacred.”
I really liked the movie. The very case when the pathos in the patriotic picture is negated, but when watching you captures the unprecedented pride that such people lived in your country. The tape provides an opportunity for someone to remember "that very legendary series", and others to get acquainted with the sporting feat of the great team of the Soviet Union. I think after watching many will have a desire to learn more about the unforgettable 8 games in September 1972.
Danila Kozlovsky played very well. With each film, he progresses in acting. Of course, a talented actor who is waiting for many great roles in the future.
But Oleg Menshikov coped with his role simply brilliantly. He showed a man living in hockey. The scenes with him came out the most powerful and emotional. And it's really great that such an outstanding coach, so delightfully played a great actor.
Of course, other characters of the tape also look very decent, and in general a very well-chosen cast. I don’t want to talk about anyone in the negative sense of the word.
The film is well balanced. He is not overloaded with hockey and at the same time does not make you bored. 2 hours and 14 minutes passed very quietly.
In general, it turned out a beautiful movie about the great hockey player, without unnecessary pathos and with excellent acting. I highly recommend watching.

P.S. is downgraded due to a lot of historical inaccuracies. But "A good story is not a sin and embellish" Right?
There is still gunpowder in the powder of domestic cinema!
I went to the movies today, not just with my friends, but with my parents! They loved it, and so did I.
In the USSR, everyone was crazy about hockey, there was a hockey wave. Fans proudly pronounced the names of their heroes they admired, but no one knew what was going on there, so to speak, in the locker room. This film helps to lift the veil and see how talented boys became legends. What they had to go through in order to play the main match of their lives.
That's a good movie. Young viewers will learn more about Soviet hockey, older people will be pleased to plunge into nostalgia and remember how they themselves gathered at the TV to watch the match, cheer for ours. In addition, the film boasts a magnificent cast, atmosphere of play, failures and victories.
Despite the title of the film, for me, this picture is not just a biographical tape about an outstanding hockey player, but a movie about everyone who was in love with hockey, who lived and lives with it.

There is nothing wrong with the words in the title, I want to assure you right away. Just the phrase, “Am I not stupid?” permeates the entire film. And she's great. This could come into use. I wonder if Valery Kharlamov really said it, or is this the idea of the authors?
In fact, everything that’s going on, was it? Clearly not all. Vladislav Tretiak said he noticed some inaccuracies. But this is not a documentary! This is a real work of art. I think we should agree with that. There are also notable facts that have been remade in the picture.
That's right. It was about who Valery Kharlamov was. People who haven’t heard the name know Legend 17. So that those who spoke to him remember how it was. After all, this film is not only about Kharlamov. This is a film about how the USSR hockey team was built. The most famous names flashed a glimpse, sorry for the absurdity. Because you can't show everything in one movie.
Also this picture is about Anatoly Tarasov. What can I say, the coach is amazing. We went against everything, as long as the team was the best. I don't know anything about this man. But Oleg Menshikov showed a very interesting and strong man. I wanted to know more about Tarasov. Excellent.
The opening scene in Spain made me a little stupor. But it's all within history. So it was exciting. The bull scene was a symbol. That's understandable, of course. It'll clear up in the end. A boy sitting next to me started asking his father about where the hockey was in the movie. There's hockey. There will be many more.
Danila Kozlovsky is very convincing. Trust him. He's a good actor. Watching him play is very interesting. He has his own sloppy manner. Initially, it's a little annoying. But then nothing, you get used to it. I'm talking about his other roles. Here he is emphatically in the image. Cool.
Now let me explain why I asked my question in the title. It's an appeal to myself. Aren't I stupid to watch this movie? No, in the sense that the picture turned out to be exciting and interesting. The emotions were really overwhelming. The only thing to reproach yourself with is that such films force you to do things that change yourself and the world around you. I wanted to play hockey. And a lot of training. Well, I might not get on the ice. But the character is worth taking note of.
Eternal memory to you, Valery Borisovich.

P.S. And I won't climb the cables between the towers. No, did that really happen?
I have a strong belief that this film will be interesting to any viewer. This film is not fiction. All of them were alive or living at the time. The time is 1972. Legend N17 is a hockey player known throughout the country (or even the whole world). Here's his biography.
The story of how a guy from Chebarkul (Chelyabinsk region) becomes a star of the hockey team. The nail and culmination here is the fundamental rivalry with the national team of Canada - the bison of world ice hockey. About what tests the young athlete had to pass here and to be seen.
There is also the figure of Anatoly Tarasov, the main inspirer of the “unfired chicks”. And even though Oleg Menshikov does not look great in appearance like the head coach of CSKA and the national team, his despotic manners and tyrannical approach in methods he conveyed in the best tones and semitones.
I know this because I, as a football fan of CSKA, know that Tarasov coached a football club of the same name. And there the players “hung themselves”, not understanding why the “evil dictator” transfers hockey realities to the emerald gazzon. But each of them (footballers, hockey players) confirm that they have passed a real school of life under the leadership of Anatoly Tarasov. This is a very real fact.
This is also illustrated by the film. The whole history of the rise of Soviet hockey, for obvious reasons, is not shown here. The corner here put a triumphant match with the Canadians. And if this film embellished something somewhere, then it is inadmissible to say that something was lied to, rather it is... for a red word...
Finally, I would like to recommend it to everyone. This film will almost certainly inspire everyone to accomplish certain feats. Maybe even someone will shake up under the onslaught of Tarasov and begin to change life for the better today.
The second most significant domestic biopic of recent times turned out, in my opinion, much better than the first. After “Vysotsky” the impression remained mostly ambiguous. Legend No. 17 did not disappoint. In general, for those who did not watch - go, you will not regret!
Separately, I want to highlight how the match with the Canadians is shown. It's an emotional storm! After all, he had the effect of a “bomb exploded” in world hockey. Canada (not only hockey players, but the whole country in general) and the whole world were also shown that not only they can play hockey. Some, first of all probably Canadians, of course, say that the Canadians won the Super Series-72. Yeah, sure, but how? On the "flag", after 7 games having the same result for the last eighth match in the USSR, and winning it in a stubborn struggle with a difference of 1 goal. Such a “win” to the world clearly showed that hockey, as they say, “is not the NHL united...” But the first match in the legendary series alone is no less important than the whole series. These 7:3s... The match, after which Phil Esposito himself cried with annoyance (who does not know - Google), promising in an interview with his country and fans to recoup. A match after which that journalist actually ate the newspaper, did it in public, and confirmed that the Canadians kept their word. The match, after which Kharlamov, along with Petrov and Mikhailov, really offered to go to the NHL for 1 million.$ each, because Kharmamov, laughing off after the offer to him personally, said: “Without Mikhailov and Petrov can not”. And this match is shown in the film vividly and interestingly, using the technical equipment of modern cinema.
I also want to celebrate the work of actors. Menshikov, Kozlovsky, Menshov and others were not pumped up. Emotional and beautiful play of the Spanish actress Alejandra Grepi as the mother of Valeria. And in general, a special flavor of Kharlamov's biography gives his semi-Spanish origin (more precisely, he is half Basque). This is also indicated in the film. Plus, bright and strong actors in supporting roles for any film only to the benefit.
In general, everyone evaluates in their own way, and I will rate Legend No. 17 by 10 out of 10.
P. Questioner: In the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, there are many hockey players “born in the USSR”. But only two of the hockey players in that room have ever played in the NHL. This is Vladislav Tretiak and Valery Kharlamov.
Legend No. 17 was a star of world hockey, flying a bright, but such a short way.
Recently, Russian cinema leaves much to be desired: there are too many one-off comedies, but then suddenly a biography, and such a rating of expectations, I could not help but go!
I have never been interested in hockey, moreover, I did not even know who the legendary Kharlamov was, I went to the film, mainly because of the cast.
I really liked the film, there are many reasons for this: the actors’ play, an interesting plot where many lines intertwine, and a beautifully shot film! At the end, the audience applauded, as if the game with the Canadians was real in front of us, and not on the screen.
Of course, it is worth noting that the biography is very similar to the real events of V. Kharlamov, which is not always the case. Not only does the biography match, but Canadians chewed gum and played without helmets. It was very interesting to watch not only the film, but also hockey. This is facilitated by actors.
Danila Kozlovsky is our new rising star. I watched SpiritLess with him - his game impressed even then. He played the main role, the legend N17 - Valery Kharlamov. It is very pleasant to watch him: he is not only charming, but also does not overplay. He fits any role, he gets used to it so that the fact that this film can be completely forgotten! Beautifully depicts both suffering and pain, and joy. Excellent learned to skate on ice: a talented person is talented in everything.
Oleg Menshikov is incomparable in the role of a cruel coach Tarasov. At first I didn’t understand him, but by the middle I loved the character, just like his team did. I really liked the quotes of Tarasov, they are worth remembering.
It is also worth noting V. Menshov and the actress who played Kharlamov’s mother, who also perfectly managed to play their role.
It is impossible not to write about the fact that the film added humor: a doctor, always dying her lips with red lipstick; a police station; comparing Canadians with bulls (especially pleased!).
In general, the film is definitely worth watching. For me, this is definitely not a one-time movie and I bet it.
10 out of 10
The film tells about a hockey match between the USSR and Canada in 1972. The main character of the film is the player Valery Kharlamov. We are told the story of his life and becoming a hockey player. The plot is simple and straightforward, but watching the film is interesting. There are even funny moments, and some just a real melodrama and want to cry. I especially want to mention the shooting, they are cool. A lot of mass scenes, sports shooting. And they look very solid. The artists were also delighted – they played great. And I want to note both the main characters and secondary ones - just good. The scenery of that era looked good, the film immerses us in good old socialism. And you understand that before there were people who played not for money, but for an idea.
The film left a very good impression as a very high-quality and good-quality film. I think at the moment it is simply impossible to make a better film, it is the maximum possible. I would recommend it to everyone without exception.
Impressed! I advise you to go and see, you will not regret it. There are two reasons why I went to see this movie and they are both important. The first is my love for a game like hockey. The second, great cast. Both are exciting in this film.
I read before the session someone's review that the film is slightly delayed. If you get bored at the beginning of the movie, it will pay off at the end. I totally disagree with that opinion! The film is interesting, well shot. There is nothing superfluous in it, only regret at the moment of the final credits that the movie is over.
There are many good actors and Danila Kozlovsky is one of them. Played great, emotionally! I want to talk about the actors of the Soviet era. I grew up on Soviet films, in which every actor is a nugget, a talent. These are Oleg Menshikov and Vladimir Menshov. Playing these actors in the film is just an encore!
So I advise all meticulous people who sit and read reviews to break away from the screens of their laptops, iPadov and have a good time watching this film.
Billed as a biography, this film, of course, covers much more aspects than just the biography of hockey player Kharlamov. This is a film about the love of hockey, sports, family, woman, about friendship between members of the same team and different, about partnership and camaraderie, about the relationship between Teacher and students - and many more things.
The script is spelled out very competently - the most vivid moments of Kharlamov's formation as an outstanding athlete are shown, in this regard, of course, his "upgrade" is interesting - from petty, in fact, boyish resentments against the coach Anatoly Tarasov for the fact that he too rigidly checked the character of the young athlete to highly decent behavior in the collisions and intrigues of sports functionaries. A moderate relationship between Kharlamov’s personal life and sports life – for which most viewers go to this film – to demonstrate the coherence and convergence of the Soviet team during the most important test. And this coherence was still shown - at the highest level of camera art, although the camera constantly revolving around the character with breakneck speed can rather be attributed to one of the few disadvantages.
Another disadvantage is the noticeable sagging of the love line compared to the dynamic sports one. Indeed, the scenes with Svetlana Ivanova look dull compared to the scenes of training, matches and conversations with Tarasov. By the way, Menshikov was pleasantly surprised - his game is excellent, you forget about the external dissimilarity behind it, and the Kharlamov-Tarasov line is as touching as it is penetrating. Moreover, there is a lot to learn from this story, and this is not just about athletes.
Danila Kozlovsky’s game is also quite convincing, it is good that he managed to unobtrusively convey to the viewer eternal, if you think about it, values and simple truths – that betraying your mentor and anyone else is not good, even if it is strategically justified that actions in a friendly unity are more effective than separately, that you can not forget about family ties and most importantly – that you need to at all costs and began to strive for your cherished dream.
Playing the actors of secondary characters is also good, except perhaps too caricatured Canadians and Svetlana Ivanova - I think the role did not require any exceptional acting talent, it could handle another, more pretty girl.
And so I really liked Alexander Grepi in the role of Valera’s mother, Alexander Lobanov, Alexander Ragulin in the role of hockey players, and in general the whole team of CSKA, and then the Soviet team was wonderfully played – in every sense.
I can say that the pathos – in a good way – of the Super Series in 1972 was conveyed very well, the tense atmosphere, the dynamic shooting – that moment really breaks into tears. And it becomes sad that the time of patriotic hockey and non-commercial sports is a thing of the past, now you can think about it only with nostalgia - because how wonderful it is when the whole country comes together in a single impulse, when the cherished "goool" is heard synchronously from all windows!
In conclusion, I would like to add that despite the title and the general storyline, this movie is not so much about the hockey player Kharlamov, but about the coach and Teacher - Anatoly Tarasov.
I want to talk about Russian-made cinema. Last night, more precisely, I went to the film Legend N17 about the great hockey player Valery Kharlamov and his coach Anatoly Tarasov. Why do I say that the film is about them, and not about how the USSR national team defeated Canadian professionals from the NHL with a crushing score of 7:3? because it is the relationship between Kharlamov and Tarasov and these personalities themselves that are the most vivid and important in the film.
Let’s start with the fact that I am a young girl, that is, I am interested in hockey as such and I was not even in plans when I lived and sparkled the N17th. Therefore, I evaluate the film as a film, and not as a reliable biopic. I liked the movie. For 2 hours I enjoyed, did not feel bored and felt emotions. Isn't that how a good movie is defined? Not just like that.
Scenario. Dialogues are good, some phrases are insanely strong (albeit with a touch of pathos), that the heart begins to beat harder ( "Your number 17th! The whole world knows him. Despite the fact that the film clearly pretends to raise patriotism among the younger generation and cause nostalgia in the older generation, I did not see any propaganda, although politics was woven into the plot (as a negative side of sports). Stunning and clever references to the exciting beginning of the film go through the narrative, which is always pleasant to the eye and brain.
Actors. Here I see on the poster of the film handsome Danila Kozlovsky and upset because of the glamour of the image on it. But a poster of glory to the gods is deceiving. I was not lazy and Googled Kharlamov - he was also handsome! She calmed down before the movie. Kozlovsky is still a good actor. For me, a good actor is when I know two roles and they are completely different. So with Kozlovsky - his Kharlamov and that major from DukhLess are absolutely different inside and even in appearance, which cannot but please. And the actor chooses good roles and knows the whole history of auditions for Kharlamov - he received this role not because of the attraction of girls to film shows, but for hard work and passion for good scripts. But in this picture on the acting of all, absolutely everyone is eclipsed by Oleg Menshikov. His steely, tough, but passionate and sensual Anatoly Tarasov always conquered me. At several moments with him, I shivered, and at some I just couldn’t help crying. An amazing actor, an amazing character and an amazing personality this Tarasov – now I know for sure.
Operational work. And here we come to the minus. Of course, it is very difficult to make a film about hockey. All these preconceived (and already once played) matches should be removed so that the viewer does not get bored, so that he is captured by the action, as when watching a match about which you do not know the result. Therefore, all these strange angles appeared (I even saw the moment where we all see from the side of the flying puck). It's all very cool, but because of these insanely fast, shifting shots, I couldn't catch who was where and what was going on. And the eyes quickly get tired of such a small look. The long-range plans showing the exits to the ice of Kharlamov himself were successful - the necessary joy was felt. But, unfortunately, this does not overshadow the disadvantages. Also at some points there was a very strange effect of retrospective, which for me was not quite clear.
Music. The music was not remembered at all (except for the standard melodies on the hockey field), but it was not lacking, so the filmmakers coped with this with hurrah. Music should complement, not interfere. And if it is very small and it does not cut the hearing, it gives more credibility. We don’t have an eternal soundtrack under our ears.
A general impression. As I said above, I liked the movie. I knew absolutely nothing about hockey, about Kharlamov and Tarasov, or about that really important match when the whole country watched it. And I didn’t know about “God forbid you switch the TV from hockey!”, as our hockey has always been the property of the country (as well as figure skating). And now I know all this, +10 points to my knowledge and experience. And for the first time it happened to me that at the night session (there are mostly young people with beer, often those cattle sit) the whole hall clapped on the final credits and no one stood up when the dedication to Kharlamov and Tarasov was written on the screen.
I don’t regret watching this movie. I recommend it to everyone: girls and guys, young and not so. Such films break stereotypes about the bad modern Russian cinema. The film is made with love, it feels like it. Perhaps it lacks the vital depth for a genre like biopic, but the story it tells is worthy of attention. I am 100% sure of that.
I can understand, like many other viewers, I do not like, even hate almost all Russian cinema! But of course, sometimes there is an exception. In 2013, Legend N17 became the exception. I don’t like the genre of “sports”, I rarely watch biographies, and I repeat again – this is Russian cinema; but for some reason I have been waiting for this film and watched it with pleasure, never, to my surprise, without getting bored! The film is made skillfully, beautifully, even professionally and accurately. I do not know what it was like to live in Soviet times, but it seems to me that here the creators tried to convey the atmosphere of those times at the highest level. Cars, streets, communication itself, clothes and so on, even the work of the operator gave the effect of old times. I don’t watch hockey, I’m not fond of the history of this game; if you ask, I won’t name a single player (well, now I know one thing!), but I still want and watch this tape.
The film will tell us about the great hockey player Valery Kharlamov, who became a legend during his lifetime, a legend under the number 17. We are told about his victories and defeats, about the event that made him a legend. At the center of all events is the game “USSR-Canada”. The USSR national team beats Canadians by a huge margin, having received worldwide recognition. The viewer will get acquainted with the very process of training this team, will see the perseverance and impulse, thanks to which the Russians received what they received.
Despite the fact that, as I wrote above, I am not familiar with hockey, listening to dialogues, monologues of the coach, discussing strategy and so on was very interesting. I was so worried about the game as if I was watching live. Well, somehow “live” made the film, as if not the movie at all. Usually tapes of this genre at least occasionally, but still make you get bored, but Legend N17 is something else, realistic, lively and dynamic. I advise absolutely everyone, and fans of this sport especially - do not doubt the choice!
If the filmmakers try to please the viewer, then this applies to the cast. I will not say anything about Valery Kharlamov (well, about character, actions, skill, etc. – stupid!!), but Danila Kozlovsky understood what the viewer wants from him. Courageous. No more emotions. Absence of excessive overplay and other things. Everything was clearly played by him! Vladimir Menshov, as always, is a skilled actor and there is nothing to add; calm and lively. Admired Oleg Menshikov. He played so that sometimes, even often, it seemed like he was a real coach. Monologues, dialogues with his participation, his camp, the character of the hero - strongly!
In conclusion, I want to say that Legend N17 is a skillful Russian film, a sad and at the same time joyful biography that pleased many viewers with its theme, realism of events. Personally, I am happy with the very development of the film, its beauty and smoothness, the actors and their performance. Of course, it is worth watching, even the haters of Russian cinema. I'll give you a well-deserved assessment
The idea of the film is good. That's good. Thank you for the quality of your work.
But the film caused me discomfort with small nuances.
Explain:
At one time, our cinema (yes, not ours either) was replete with films in which the Germans (fascists) were seen as stupid, stupid idiots. This was the social demand of society. If they were filmed differently, the films would not have been watchable for the bulk of the population, who treated the fascists, to put it mildly, negatively.
But as the years passed, those movies stopped making me smile. Because it is not art, but consumer goods.
But films made later (in which the behavior of the Germans became similar to human behavior) look and will look with respect and gratitude to the creators. The same "17 Moments", "Omega Option" or "Zhenya, Zhenechka and Katyusha".
So in our “post-perestroika” cinema, cheap tricks with idiot types are used. Moreover, idiotic roles are not in foreign characters, but only in Soviet ones.
In this film, this line is traced. And that positioned the film as a consumer. It could have been a very good movie.
And I personally didn't like the absolute facelessness of the heroes of that team. In the movie, they're extras. But we know that this series was won (at least psychologically) by team play, not individualism.
Thank you to everyone involved in making the film. This film helped our young cinema to take another step towards quality art.
7 out of 10
As soon as I learned that the film was being shot, Legend N17 immediately thought that I would definitely go to the cinema. Many, as always, are skeptical of Russian-made films, but such a film had no right to make a bad one. And if people go and spend money on passing and even obviously bad tapes, how can you not go to a movie about Valery Kharlamov?
Oleg Menshikov is an incredible professional, then the way he played Anatoly Tarasov is something outstanding. Had he not played the way he played, the film could have been called a failure, because to play Kharlamov well is a very difficult and undoubtedly important task, but if you fail to convey the character of the person, due to which Valery was largely formed and turned into the Legend of world hockey, you may get the wrong impression as if everything that happened was taken for granted.
Daniela Kozlovsky played at a high level, a young actor who managed to play as the film required, and this, you will agree, is obviously a difficult task.
Every actor involved in the film was very important, was a part of this big movie, even if it played a minute episode. This is the merit of the director Nikolai Lebedev, who managed to make a film that made you worry with the heroes every minute.
Cons, of course, there are also, for example, historical inaccuracies that were required for the dramatic situation, the accident in which Kharlamov fell occurred after the match with the Canadians, in the film – until, for sure, very many people do not know this and will have the wrong idea. Someone will find others, but it is simply impossible to deny that the film was shot at a very high level.
Pleasant viewing!
I saw the trailer for this film last fall, then I only paid attention to the film because of the participation of Danila Kozlovsky, but after I watched it, the cast was not the first reason why this film is worth watching. I became interested in the story of Valery Kharlamov and therefore I was looking forward to the film.
Lately, I have been writing negative reviews of our directors’ films. The fact is that Russian cinema has fallen so low that high-quality films that are worth watching are eclipsed by empty, commercials of which are everywhere. But I didn’t want to swear at this picture at first. I didn’t think this movie would be just a fool. I didn’t want this movie to be ruined. And it turned out great! I have never seen such a high-quality Russian film in a long time! The modern viewer, it seems impossible to surprise, or to do it is extremely difficult. But, the director of this picture – Nikolai Lebedev, it seems, and did not set such a task. He was just recreating history. He was just doing his job. And that's surprising. He created such a high-quality picture that you do not want to swear - you want to watch and review, and every time you appear as if in the stands, clenching your fists.
Making a biopic is extremely difficult because there is no room for error. Because the person you want to talk about is not a fictional character, but a real, concrete person that the whole world probably knows. One not accurate scene, a mismatched appearance and already a failure. But this fate bypassed Legend N17. The audience accepted this film and appreciated it. And that's good.
Nikolai and the whole crew created a real movie. The one that gives you goosebumps that make you really happy or cry, the one that makes you feel real. Today I was completely absorbed in the film. And during the final game, I really squeezed the hand of my soulmate and watched the game with a sinking heart. And in the audience, someone applauded the first puck. It was an indescribable feeling. At the end of the film, when the lights had not yet turned on, the whole room applauded. It was a long and violent applause. For a long time I have not heard such, I have not seen a huge number of people so satisfied, constantly discussing the film.
The plot of this film seems to be thought out to the smallest detail. As a child, Valery Kharlamov lived with his mother and sister in Spain. Then he saw what made him admire. After a while they returned to Russia. Valery started playing hockey. At first he played for the little-known Chebarkul team "Star", where everything was calculated in advance. Valery realized that this was not what he dreamed of and gradually brought this team victory after victory. So fate brought him together with Anatoly Tarasov, the coach of CSKA, who invited Valery to his place. At first he was just an observer, a semi-finished product, but after a while he started playing. Kharlamov had to overcome many difficulties and exhausting training, pain and heart affairs. So in the heart of a young hockey player lit up a dream - to go on the ice and play with Canadians.
Coming to the cast, I want to say that he was selected magnificently! Danila Kozlovsky played the role of Valery. In my opinion, the choice of Danila for this role is 100% hit, because Danila is an amazing actor who knows how to get used to any role. The role of Kharlamov, in my opinion, is one of the best in his career. There was a lot of responsibility on Danil because this is not a role that can be wrong. He did not make a mistake, it once again emphasizes his professionalism. Danila managed to feel his hero, thanks to his play Valery turned out to be an ordinary guy who had a dream, and who had to go through a huge number of difficulties to realize it. Kozlovsky fit into this role so organically that it seemed to me that he was not playing. He managed to convey the mood of his hero. His joy, disappointment, unwillingness to give up, his inner strength, his courage. I admire this game! Oleg Menshikov played the role of Anatoly Tarasov. After watching the film, I understood why the actor was so praised for his role. Oleg played one of the best roles in his career! He was incredibly persuasive. He managed to get used to the image of Tarasov, and therefore conveyed the inner strength of his hero, his character, perseverance, his faith. Awesome game! I’ve never imagined Vladimir Menshov as a negative character. But despite this, Vladimir, as always, showed a great game. Svetlana Ivanova played the role of Ira. I’ve seen Svetlana on screen a lot lately and most importantly, she always plays her roles well. In this picture, her character is a slightly stubborn, knowing her own value, but a kind and sweet girl. And Svetlana was. I believed her game.
The composer of this picture was Eduard Artemyev. Edward, like the whole crew, did a great job and created a stunning soundtrack that conveyed the mood of the picture. In some places, the music negotiated for the film some moments when the words became superfluous, in some places, on the contrary, went in step with the film, making a whole army of goosebumps run over my hands. Thank you.
And before I finish my review, I want to say thank you. My applause to Nikolai Lebedev, Danila Kozlovsky, Oleg Menshikov and the whole crew, because these people have done an amazing job – they have created a real movie. The one that has been seen and will be seen, the one that will be remembered for a long time. Thank you.
Legend No. 17 is a high-quality, real, interesting and memorable movie. A film that surprises, makes you clench your fists with excitement and genuinely rejoice, applauding at the end. Therefore, I would highly recommend it for viewing. Do not miss this picture, do not deprive yourself of the pleasure of watching a real movie! Enjoy your visit!
Outstanding athletes and legendary coaches of the Soviet Union are dedicated to the...
In 1945, after the victory on Nazi Germany, a period came which was called the Cold War, which lasted almost 40 years. The whole world knew that the Soviet Union was the largest country in the world and possessed the largest arsenal of nuclear weapons. However, the world knew not only about the military power of the Soviet Union and its relationship with the United States. The world knew our legendary athletes who won gold at various competitions, championships, world cups and Olympics. This film is about Soviet hockey players, their legendary coach Anatolia Tarasov and, in particular, about the outstanding scorer Valery Kharlamov.
The film is called Legend N17. The film is about how Valery Kharlamov earned this title during his lifetime, playing at number 17. This is a film about his ascent from a promising hockey player from the Chebarkul team Zvezda to a player of the CSKA team. This is a film about training that confirms the truth that champions are not born, but become champions. This is a film about Kharlamov’s difficult relationship with principled and sometimes tough, but exceptional coach Anatoly Tarasov. This is a film about the famous Super Series, where the USSR for the first time played with world and recognized champions - the Canadian national team.
This film was supposed to be made well, out of respect for Soviet champions. After a one-off comedy, the opinion of Russian cinema is declining. However, after the release of films like this, you believe in our directors, you know what talented actors we have, you are amazed at the thoroughness of the facts and historical details. And so that some do not resent, read the historical chronicle of events - the biography of Kharlamov and the history of the Super Series in 1972. Everything is very accurate and accurate.
Nikolai Lebedev also masterfully managed to stage hockey matches - I read that the actors learned the basics of the game ... It’s impressive – I think it’s incredible that people can just stand on skates, and they also have a stick, in heavy uniform, in a helmet, on a rink, where you need to get away from opponents. And how they manage to score goals is a great job!
Now, a few words about the 1972 Super Series itself, which happened 20 years before I was born, and it’s no wonder I didn’t know anything about it. And then I read the story and watched the film as confirmation – it shows how our players were prepared, how the whole world treated our players. Still, to challenge the universally recognized champions, which no one has yet defeated. The whole country watched Russian athletes. The scene where Tarasov, who did not see the first goal, went out into the street and still learned about it, judging by the joy of the fans in the yard houses - shows how much the whole country was rooting for the guys, worried and hoped for victory.
Your number is seventeenth! The whole world knows him!
Daniela Kozlovsky is probably one of the most talented young Russian actors. After this picture, I'm going to watch Spiritless. Danila knows how to play, knows how to get used to the role and reincarnate in her character. Of course, I do not know much about Valery Kharlamov, but after reading his biography, you can draw some conclusions. That he was the same as thousands of promising players who thought they had the data, that means they were already champions. Sometimes unrestrained, sometimes violent. However, realizing his mistakes, Kharlamov showed everything he is capable of. Mikhailov-Petrov-Kharlamov – now I will know the legends of Soviet hockey.
Oleg Menshikov - played, probably, the most important person in the team, coach Anatoly Tarasov, who is also the father of the famous figure skating coach Tatiana Tarasova. Menshikov showed us a man who is strict, tough, who himself understands that his method of training will not bring him much love among the players, but his system - despite all the rigidity - bears fruit. As everyone knows, champions become, and they become, after going through fire, water and copper pipes every day, listening to the crushing criticism of the coach. And hockey players understand that if it were not for the coach, they would never have become champions - and the scene where they greet Tarasov with the whole crowd before flying to Canada shows gratitude and recognition to the legendary teacher Anatole Tarasov.
Over the film also worked — Vladimir Menshov, a member of the party Balakhin, the image is collective, however, I know that such people were in Soviet times — who disliked open defiance and secretly prepared raids ... Svetlana Ivanova — played the girl of the main character Irina, (there there is some inconsistency of history), which you can understand that being a friend of a living legend is not everyone under force. Also starred great actors - Boris Shcherbakov, Nina Usatova, Roman Madianov, Daria Ekamasova, Goetz Otto, Alexander Lobanov... Small roles were also played by Alexander Kharlamov, the son of Valery Kharlamov, and the sister of the hockey player Tatiana Borisovna.
Legend #17 – I didn’t expect the movie to take me so far. It confirms the fact that our Soviet athletes were the best. They didn’t give up, they worked, they trained. They won – their victories will be remembered forever by their compatriots and millions of people around the world. Legend N17 is the undoubted victory of Nikolai Lebedev, he made a worthy film - his creation can be proud, the film glorifies our legends. We know we still admire you!
Patriotism, courage, courage, faith in oneself and the team, honor, justice, honesty to oneself and a comrade. All this tells the viewer “Legend N17”.
The story of a great hockey player and at the same time just a good man Valery Kharlamov (Danila Kozlovsky). The history of the identity of the winner. The film is about the difficult sporting fate of a man who showed everyone how to play hockey and about the fate of a great coach who always gave his students not just game lessons, but life lessons. Young Valera and his friend nicknamed Gus (Alexander Lobanov) one day attract the attention of coach Anatoly Vladimirovich Tarasov (Oleg Menshikov) - the best in the USSR, who before inviting them to CSKA, first arranges them a serious test for strength. And then begins a series of victories, successes, admission to the national team, where the world-famous triple Mikhailov-Petrov-Kharlamov crushes all rivals. But behind the apparent success lies a very difficult relationship with the Ice Hockey Federation, and a difficult relationship with his beloved girl Irina (Svetlana Ivanova) and mother (Alejandra Grepi).
Finally, Russian filmmakers decided to create something worthwhile, something patriotic. So I want to see at least sometimes that Russia is a champion, and our country has a huge legacy, especially in sports.
Danila Kozlovsky very well coped with the role of Valery Kharlamov, perhaps this is one of his best works in cinema. I was very happy to see Oleg Menshikov on the big screen. He conveyed Tarasov wonderfully - strong-willed, self-confident, strict with pupils, but at the same time fair, honest, kind-hearted. Svetlana Ivanova was a very sweet and bright, worthy girl for a famous athlete.
In general, the film conveys the atmosphere of the 60s of the last century. Chronicles, clothes of heroes, views of cities, music – all this immerses in the country of the Soviets of the time of L. I. Brezhnev.
I would like to see such films released more often. Are we worse than Americans who make movies all the time, where the Russians are bad, they are good, or where one American teenager can destroy an entire army of North Korea? I hope that in 30 years there will be about whom to produce such patriotic films, and I will sit in the hall and remember the youth, the wonderful victories of our country – Russia!
Good luck to our team at the Olympic Games in 2014 in Sochi, we are waiting for new victories!

The film was expected with some apprehension. After all, our filmmakers have not yet weaned themselves from the feeling that when it comes to the USSR, there will necessarily be something nasty and unpleasant.
"Legend No. 17" was a pleasant exception. I really hope that someday such "exceptions" will finally become the order of things.
Nikolai Lebedev undertook to stage a drama about the fate of two outstanding people - a coach and a player - Anatoly Tarasov and Valery Kharlamov. By the time they met, one was already an “iron man” and a legend, the second was just to become one.
The plot almost completely repeats the documentary history of these two great people. Except for the final, but it's justified. After all, the film was designed to show exactly the process of Kharlamov becoming a legend. And the path to glory is long and thorny, which is demonstrated in the highest degree clearly. On the way of a young talent, not a cut diamond, there are a lot of temptations, tricks and temptations. And a great man will become only if he can overcome all this.
Danila Kozlovsky played the role of a rising hockey star. The role of a person who is ready to overcome any difficulties in order to achieve his dreams.
Oleg Menshikov perfectly conveyed the image of Anatoly Tarasov - a man, one might say, fanatically devoted to his cause, rooting for him with all his soul. Such devotion often did not find understanding among others, but Tarasov achieved his goal. That memorable match in Montreal, that victory in 1972, which glorified Soviet hockey to the whole world - is entirely the merit of Tarasov.
The film is recommended for everyone to watch, but it should also be shown to young hockey players, as well as those who are just going to connect their fate with the ice arena. So that they do not forget who they go to, and so that they understand why they will be in great demand.

Somewhere there was a joke that Legend N17 could not be a good movie, because the quota for Russian good films this year has already been exhausted with the release of Metro. As they say, every joke has a bit of a joke, and the rest is true. But in this case, we can say that the quota has grown to two films, because Legend N17 does not disappoint at all, but even on the contrary, leaves a very pleasant impression. And if not for the high praise and laudatory reviews, I would not go to the film.
The plot tells about the formation of the great domestic hockey player - Valery Kharlamov. He has a lot to experience before he becomes a truly outstanding hockey player. Tarasov harshly brought up the guy, exhausted him, somewhere humiliated, and somewhere just ignored. The results of such methods could be two options - either Kharlamov "breaks" and scores on hockey, or passes all moral and physical tests and will become the best of the best. At first, Kharlamov does not understand this, is angry with the coach, and thinks about changing the team. But everything comes with experience, and over time Valery realizes that under the leadership of Tarasov really becomes better as a hockey player. And even a terrible injury could not stop the career of a great hockey player, when the latter has the willpower, desire to play and support of loved ones.
The apogee of Kharlamov’s career is a match with the Canadians, when no one bet on the USSR team, one of their journalists promised to eat the evening issue of his newspaper in the event of the victory of the USSR. And the guys showed tremendous willpower, defeating the Canadians against all odds. And they won in such a beautiful style that even Canadian fans and even hockey players congratulated Kharlamov’s team.
The film is really, really good. Such films I call “artistic-educational”, because after watching the hands and itch to find out whether everything was really so or not. Incredibly patriotic, but without too much pathos. In some places touching, sometimes tense, and the final so generally one continuous heat of emotions. It seems to me that no one is rooting for their teams, as the domestic fans worried for their team. And the victory was for ordinary citizens sweeter than honey (if you believe the film, even hooligans from the checkpoint were released).
Danila Kozlovsky played excellently. Oleg Menshikov played brilliantly. In my opinion, this is one of the most memorable duets in domestic cinema over the past couple of years. A tough teacher and a talented student. In the end, each of them got their own: Tarasov is an incredible team, and Kharlamov – the glory and recognition that he always dreamed of.
For the first time in a long time, I write a review of the film not for a tick, but with great pleasure and pride. No, no, you heard right, it was with her, because in our combat regiment of Russian cinema arrived worth the replenishment.
The very idea to shoot a high-quality picture about the great hockey player Kharlamov, taking into account his life adventures, is perhaps the most successful in the last 10 years. Yes, there was no less important project about Vysotsky, and very soon there will be another picture about the first cosmonaut Gagarin, but despite their popularity and merit, they both lose to Valery Borisovich outright.
Why, you ask? It makes perfect sense. It just happens that sports and hockey in particular are an extremely important factor that does not just exist for a tick. Perhaps, in our difficult times, only sports can truly unite people. Only during the matches of our national team, accidentally being on the street, you can hear how from hundreds and thousands of windows a huge number of people heartily sick and worried for their country every second. After all, sport is an alternative to war. I always wonder which nation is stronger, higher and faster. But it is unwise to decide this on the battlefields, and in gyms and stadiums there is a history of fights, worse than the war in Iraq. It causes a huge number of emotions, it is more liked by the people and it is an exciting sight.
Legend No. 17 can already be called a living masterpiece of our cinema. Because, despite all the mess that is happening in the country and its components, despite the lack of normal conditions for filming, the almost complete absence of new talented actors and directors, the creators managed to remove an unprecedented scale of tribute to our Soviet hero.
The love with which the authors approached the material, how much money and effort they spent on creating a patriotic to the bone project that celebrates our past, deserves respect. The number of exciting and memorable scenes here is innumerable. After just a day after watching, the most important and significant of them still settle in your head, you want to remember them again and again. This film is not about hockey, as it may seem at first glance. It is about the Russian strength of spirit, it is about a man who, despite all his sacrifices and losses, went to his goal to the very end. He did not look around, committed stupidities and mistakes, but lived only for the sake of the very good goal that he set himself and gave himself to it completely and without a trace.
Despite all of the above, one cannot be completely blind and not admit that this movie is not perfect. But all the shortcomings are so insignificant that they do not even want to remember. The only thing that falls out of the general canvas is the romantic line, which exists only for the sake of one phrase that actually took place. But without her, the character of Kharlamov would not have been fully revealed, so all this is justified. As a result, we have an incredible story in which all the main characters, from the hero of this picture and his coach, to his best friend and main antagonist, are in their place. Without forgetting to give some praise to the entire cast, it is impossible not to single out Oleg Menshikov, who with such ease and grace performed the difficult role of a tough coach of Soviet sports.
I want to say a huge thank you to all those who gave this project life and brought it to birth on screens. It's a movie that's real. It's a movie I'm not ashamed of. This is a movie that lasts forever!
Verdict: We need this kind of hockey!
The national cinema, fortunately, does not stand still, but develops. Not as fast as we would like, but there is progress. In my opinion, the best thing in Russia is to make military and biographical films, I don’t know why, but it happened. In my opinion, "Legend N17" at first glance just pleases the eye. From the trailer to the movie itself. One thing is good: the film has some drama, plot, a little intrigue, patriotism... and many other good things. Personally, I was pleasantly surprised, for some reason I was waiting for a story that was simply transferred to the screen without any improvements.
In the main role - Danila Kozlovsky. As you may have noticed, it often appears on the big screen. If you remember, the main acquaintance with the audience took place on the film “We are from the future”. Influential people noticed this talented actor, and I honestly began to look at him, I work with his participation is very much to my liking. It seems to me that for a long time Danila Kozlovsky will appear on the screen, although who knows, many young talented people left the cinema for no reason, or they were simply not given a job.
Directly about the movie. At last, everything seemed to be in the right place. The camera work, the scenery, the zeitgeist conveyed in the film, everything seems to be done quite well - it is very pleasing. I don't know if it's good or bad, but the movie had a very, very strong commercial that literally oozed from all sources. For most of course, it does not matter, now I realized that it was necessary to attract people to the cinema, because a lot of effort and money was invested in the film.
Behind the picture is a rather large and important history of domestic sports. We can talk about it endlessly. I highly recommend the film to everyone, if only to appreciate how our cinema works. In general, the film is quite successful. He deserves his:
As a sports fan with more than 10 years of experience, I had no right to miss a film about a star of our sport. Yes, I’m more of a football fan than a hockey fan, but as the movie said, “today we’re the national team,” and therefore it doesn’t matter.
Our cinema needs careful filtering, but in a large pile of garbage you can find a pearl. In principle, I must say, the rental of biographical films our cinema is quite successful. Of the latest successful examples, we can note the films about Admiral Kolchak and Vysotsky, and the tape about Valery Kharlamov was no exception.
The film tells about the formation of Kharlamov as a player, in the famous style of “fire, water and copper pipes”. How he went through the crucible of the lower hockey league, through the hardest training in CSKA, became a player of the base and how he managed to cope with the glory that fell on him. And finally, we see how in real life there is a “revival of the legend”, when after a severe injury, Valery returned to the ice at a crucial time for our team.
The main tragedy of the film is essentially the famous expression that “there is no limit to human abomination.” The methods of conducting training Anatoly Tarasov do not much dispose of him as a person, but the way he was treated before the matches of his life causes powerless anger towards the officials who decide the fate of people.
I was surprised by the appearance of the Canadians, and in general the whole aura surrounding the legendary Super Series match. It was not a hockey game, it was a battle for Berlin. Canadians are shown to be very ferocious. Yes, it is clear that there was a Cold War, that there was fierce hatred between the West and the USSR, and that both teams had something to prove, but not to the same extent.
Danila Kozlovsky, perhaps, played one of the best roles for himself. Or at least the most charismatic. Who will remember his characters from the passing “Spy” and “Duchless”, and even a good role from the worthy “We are from the future”, but the role of Kharlamov will be remembered for sure. Not to say that he is very similar to the famous hockey player, but this is not necessary, here the main image, and not the ever-memorable lifeless mask of Vysotsky. Thanks to him, we managed to look at Kharlamov not just as a player on the other side of the screen, but to see his life not only on the court.
I treat Oleg Menshikov with antipathy in principle, and as a protégé of some unpleasant directors, but his hero in this case was a controversial personality. Therefore, the choice of this actor for this role was justified. Evil, cruel and uncompromising coach, who may even have been punished for his sadistic tendencies, but at the same time a person who is characterized by good feelings.
I must say that, despite the real emotions experienced while watching the Canada-USSR hockey match on the screen, a heavy residue remained on the soul. Probably, it happened from some inefficiency associated with the tragic fate of the real Valery Kharlamov. It is hard because the time of people like Kharlamov is ending, and although others come to their place, it may not always be worse, but still others.
I didn’t live at that time, so I won’t be able to fully experience the emotions that people experienced back in 1972, but who knew then that this match would be overgrown with such legends and its heroes would be filmed. The triumphal matches for our hockey and football team against Canada and the Netherlands in 2008 gave us not only genuine positive emotions, but also a sense of crazy euphoria that lasted for many days. I can probably compare it to what happened in 1972.
So to sum up, Legend N17 is the jewel of our cinema that it sometimes produces. For the older generation, this film is nostalgia, a pleasant longing for the past, and for us, perhaps, the hope that someday we too or again will be able to experience something like this.
- Then look again. People out there to look at "CSKA" pay 3 rubles. (c)
Russia, as the successor of the entire former USSR, as the main flagship among all the states of the current CIS, always strives to be the first. And always confirm it. As you understand, cinema is also part of the sphere in which Russia should be looking ahead. It's a fact. For example, no other fraternal republic can yet equal the number of films produced by Russia.
I am not writing that we should now rely solely on her in this regard. You just have to take it for granted. I do not doubt that quantity does not mean quality. To the highest quality level, of course, grow and grow. But even when it seems that among the monotonous and not funny comedies and pathetic empty spaces a la “Hollywood level” can not be something worthy, still shoot at least 2-3 films. And these shots are not blank.
To this category I would include a fresh film from the Russian film industry Legend N17. Nikolai Lebedev. The film is aimed at causing the audience emotions. If it's not emotional, it's anything but a movie. And whether the film causes reciprocal emotions depends on the presentation of the material by the director. Someone likes the leisurely flow of the plot, as, for example, Andrey Zvyagintsev . Someone else - dynamic, non-stop. And the third serve a combination of both different servings. Here and "Legend N17" can be safely attributed to the second point. Everyone has their own movie.
In "Legend N17" the story develops quickly, rapidly, directly with a flowing stream. As it seemed to me, the stated 2 hours and 14 minutes are not enough at all, because I want the so-called "continuation of the banquet". The film does not let the viewer go for a minute (although several men went to that clean and shining place; maybe they do not like hockey or Danil Kozlovsky). Yes, there are luscious scenes that right with zeal take out from the eyes of a stingy man’s tear (I repent, I had a little taken out, but I was able to restrain myself). But thanks to the director for not chewing every such moment for 5 or 10 minutes, taking out a stingy male tear in an unscrupulous light. The film only benefits from this decision.
The formation of the main character, the passage of fire, water, copper pipes and something worse, maturity in the eyes of friends, overcoming all obstacles on the way - all this we have seen more than once. Each nation has its own heroes, so why not put a kind of film monuments for these people who once lived among the people? Before the film, as always, a bunch of trailers were shown, among which Iron Man 3 looked very appetizing. Undoubtedly, Tony Stark is good, he is inimitable, he can serve as an example for young people. But the hero is fictional! This is a figment of the author’s imagination, perhaps supported by any features of real people. Valery Kharlamov is a real and living man of flesh, blood and bones! Such a person without any discussion can serve as a role model.
When I read the biography of this famous hockey player in Wikipedia, I already had a lot of impressions inside. And what will happen when I take up books, documentaries, articles about this great man? After all, it is great if after the film, impressed boys want to learn more about Valery Kharlamov and play hockey. Not for nothing, but in all seriousness. After all, on the screen we were shown how he was able to play and win. It’s not even scary to bring children with you. A few strong words and naked intimate parts of the body will not interfere with the perception of the film by children. They are forgotten almost instantly.
And now the actors. More specifically, the most important one. If Christophe Waltz in The Massacre" by Roman Polanski did all his colleagues in the shop with only one eyebrow, Oleg Menshikov did all with his reference view. Sprinkling with winged expressions to the right and left, demonstrating the calmness of a boa consort, then the anger of a real lion, demanding almost impossible from his players, he presents to the audience Anatoly Tarasov such that the Canadians themselves would not be able to withstand his hellish training. Anatoly Vladimirovich for the whole Soviet and modern hockey is considered a figure of an iconic, solid block, a titan. As I understood, Oleg Menshikov in "cranberry" not used to be removed (and was he filmed at all?). Therefore, this fact cannot speak about the permeability of the creation Nikolai Lebedev.
Separately, it is worth noting Vladimir Menshov and his hero. You can imagine how I wanted to break into this, as one great movie said, ugly face. I completely forgot that it is Vladimir Menshov, that he has an Oscar for Moscow does not believe in tears. He played his hero professionally. These officials, functionaries, representatives of parties in costume (not all) have always harmed and continue to harm sports, the manifestation of the true spirit of struggle in sports. Allegedly carrying good intentions, in fact, they undermine much, which was clearly demonstrated in "Legend N17". But it is good that the spirit of sport will always win.
I'm impressed. I can and do talk a lot about the movie. But still the most important thing I shared, which I am glad. I have also forgiven some of the film’s shortcomings (though it’s hard to call them flaws) because they don’t spoil the overall overall experience. Well, let the Canadians presented almost monster creatures, like bulls, ready to tear everyone to shreds. Well, let’s say that showed only the first match of the Superseries. Well, let's say that Valery Kharlamov could not establish relations with his girlfriend for a long time. Let it. That's not the main thing to notice. And pathos. The film is artistic and for the mass audience. So why not flavor it with moderate pathos?
As I noted at the beginning of the review, Russian cinema is not so bad. I am a Kazakh, so I do not care about the successes of Slavic brothers. In movies, in sports. Let Russian cinema raise its bar. So that Russians themselves are more proud of their films (quality films!), not ashamed. May the power be with you!
To begin with, I was very much waiting for the release of this film and therefore, as soon as free time appeared, I went to the cinema. I will not say that I am a fan of modern Russian films, since, as a rule, they are unsuccessful. I went for the love of hockey and great respect for the great man - Valery Kharlamov. Two hours, is that a lot or a little for a movie? You're not sure, are you? But for me personally, they flew very quickly today. I could not take my eyes off the screen for a second. Along with the characters, I laughed and cried, rejoiced and angry, loved and hated, and realized how much I loved hockey.
I don’t think I need anything in my life except hockey.
As you already understood, the plot of the film is based on the biography of the famous hockey player - Valery Borisovich Kharlamov. This is a story about the path to a dream, a dream of a lifetime. A story of victories and defeats. About the will to win and how tempered character. Patriotism. A great athlete. And finally, just about sports.
Shooting is amazing! Especially the final match in Montreal, where the USSR national team defeated Canadian professionals from the NHL with a score of 7:3. I felt myself on the “battlefield”, felt the speed, incredible tension, anger of rivals. A few words about Canadians. They seem to have overdone their image a bit. No, I'm not talking about the character and the mood for victory that they want at all costs. I'm talking about appearance. They reminded me of the Croods family with gum in their mouth, but that’s not what I’m talking about now.
Real men play hockey Danila Kozlovsky - Valery Kharlamov. Who could play instead of Kozlovsky? In my opinion, no one. The actor got used to his hero. I felt like he really was a hockey player. Danila made you feel with what difficulty the character achieved his dream goal of a lifetime. And how much pain was felt at the moment when the athlete realizes that it is not that he will not be able to go on the ice, but that he will not walk anymore. Thank you so much for playing a good role.
Oleg Menshikov — Anatoly Tarasov. Menshikov has nothing to do with the famous coach, but how he played it! Bravo! I believed and believed that Oleg Menshikov was none other than Anatoly Tarasov. At the beginning of the film, he appears before us as a tough, uncompromising man who has a goal, but no one knows it. Then we have a completely different coach – kind and caring, who until the last was with his team. "You are my life!"
Vladimir Menshov, Svetlana Ivanova, Roman, Madianov, Boris Shcherbakov, Alejandra Greli Their roles were short, so I will say in general – worked well.
Result: A wonderful film that is definitely worth watching. You won't regret it! I didn't think we could make such a good patriotic film.
I want to thank the people who contributed to this film. People like Valery Borisovich Kharlamov should be known and remembered. He deserves it.
If not for the reviews, I probably wouldn’t go to the movies for this movie. Thank you all for the advice, because the film is really worth the time, about the money I do not say.
Personally, I really liked the burrow in the film. I read Hemingway's Fiesta. Anyone who reads will understand my feelings. And this is where it went through the whole movie. I can’t help but note the atmosphere of the film. 2.13 is not a short time, but it has passed on one breath, or rather on several sighs between actions.
I want to highlight the character of both main characters. Valery Kharlamov - Danila Kozlovsky and Anatoly Tarasov performed Oleg Menshikov above all praise. Both characters are amazingly talented people with an unbending will and desire to achieve goals. Throughout the film, you wonder if things could have been different, but not. That's how it works. And the successful junior Kharlamov, instead of the promised Japan, gets to Chebarkul, where he achieves everything himself no matter what. I was very impressed with their training. It is necessary not even iron will, or fearlessness, or madness. But they did. They made their way.
Through eternal reproach and mockery. Through sitting on the bench of CSKA, Tarasov makes Kharlamov a person who will not be broken by anything. No accidental puck, no accidental injury. If he wants to live, he will play. And play with all your strength, with the last strength, achieving your goal at the limit of human capabilities.
You think Tarasov is a sadist. Maybe it is. I think that’s what a coach should be. Hockey is a brutal men's game. It is said that a coward does not play hockey. It was Tarasov who made the team what it became. Decent championship at any level. He showed them the team spirit, the will to win, the absence of fear and pain. Control over the situation and over yourself always and everywhere, no matter what life prepares surprises. And let the opponent in this competition becomes an invincible team. But you just need to understand that they are the same people and they can be defeated.
The film is well traced line of echoes of that time. Party and obedience. But even these problems can not prevent the team from being a champion. "You have to respect hockey." And you can not argue with this, because in what, in what, and in hockey we can play.
I am sure that this film should be enjoyed by everyone. There's a lot going on in it. And a lot of this is missing now, not only in cinema, but also in life. Personally from me the highest ball and a personal recommendation to everyone.
In the Soviet Union, heroes and idols could not be counted. In each decade there were one or two people, who over the years, subsequent generations raised almost to the rank of celestials. But there were also those who gained all-Union fame and love during their lifetime. One of them was Valery Kharlamov. Along with Vysotsky and Gagarin, this outstanding hockey player was a world star, while remaining, as they say, “his own on the board.” Songs were sung about such people on the streets, poems were dedicated to them, and of course, sooner or later, such people had to become heroes of movies. However, to shoot biopics about idols of the past now is to encroach on the holy. After all, the new generation may not understand the story of life told, and fans will not accept the film adaptation at all, believing that their favorite is told the wrong way. Therefore, biographical tapes most often in Russia can be found only in the TV grid in the serial section, and not on the big screen.
The situation changed after the release of the painting by Peter Buslov “Vysotsky”. Thank you for being alive and now the baton has been taken over by Nikolai Lebedev.
In his new film, the director of Volkodava uses the same way of storytelling as Buslov - no biographical analysis, only one key line reflecting the image of the main character. Vysotsky’s key storyline was clinical death, and here we watch Valery Kharlamov, or rather his achievements in hockey. And I have to say, it worked two hundred percent. Before us is not a brief biographical reference from the category "about everything at the top and with the praise of the party." Having changed the script, not once, not twice, but even three times, Lebedev and his colleagues cut off everything superfluous and focused only on Kharlamov’s endless dedication to his work and everything that came out of it.
I do not know whether the authors wanted it or not, but by this they brought to the fore Kharlamov-man than Kharlamov-hockey player, although the latter in the frame is no less. These two extremes do not compete on screen with each other, as you might expect, but complement each other. Thanks to the excellent camera work and competent editing, the viewer sees the whole fate of the famous hockey player, not focused on controversial moments, but at the same time he has no feeling that he was deceived or something was not said. Family relations? Please. Coach Tarasov? All you want. Love? Get it and sign it. Do you want to see how difficult the path to glory is? Without hiding, we will show you injuries, humiliations, doubts and the will to win. Therefore, "Legend" is pleasant to watch, because in its complex structure it conceals one simple truth, understandable to absolutely everyone - if you have a dream, go and realize it, no matter how difficult it is for you, despising all everyday difficulties, sometimes stepping on the throat of your own pride, work for a good cause and you will be immortalized in memory forever.
It is unlikely that such a story could be so perfectly told, if not for a whole galaxy of talented actors in the frame. Danila Kozlovsky surprisingly accurately fell into the image of Kharlamov. Using all his acting talent, he presented a truly legendary and desperate figure to our court (an episode on a tightrope or at the final match). Remarkable and Oleg Menshikov, who played perhaps the best role in his career. His Tarasov is an uncompromising tyrant in training, but at heart he is actually a sensitive father to his team, worried for every player. Sometimes the famous coach on the screen is so much and he infects with charisma that it seems that the main character here is Tarasov, not Kharlamov. However, the final match with Canada puts everything in its place. His time on the screen is a time of experience and gritted teeth for the viewer on the other side of the screen, excitement even for those who just two hours ago may have been far from hockey, but now cheers for our game along with all the old-time fans. Perhaps this is the magic of cinema, as a result of which new masterpieces are born before our eyes. And the fact that, in my opinion, “Legend No. 17” is a masterpiece is already proven.
Two hours of real sincerity, making us believe that Russian cinema is alive and will live. A modern classic, a film, which in our time is criminally few.
10 from 10
I like hockey. I respect Valery Borisovich and Anatoly Borisovich. I really liked the film, despite several shortcomings related to the biography of Kharlamov. But even these shortcomings did not prevent ' Legend #17' to become one of my favorite films.
First of all, I liked the fact that hockey was shown as it is. And the way he was. If we are talking about hockey, then this film is the best of the last (film ' Bouncer' Don’t even include, it’s not about hockey, but about some game that simply does not exist).
Secondly, Oleg Menshikov played just amazing. He perfectly fits the image of Tarasov. A special compliment to him.
Third, the film makes us empathize with the hero, which is important. Personally, I was crying when Danila Kozlovsky appeared on the screen, moaning in pain.
Overall, the film is good. It's worth seeing. This is probably the only hockey movie in the last 10 years worth watching. Don't spare any money or time. It's worth it!

(for a slight discrepancy with the biography of Valery Borisovich)
Pride for Soviet hockey? Yes! Pride for Russian cinema?
Unfortunately, there is no pride in Russian cinema.
The story, told based on the biography of the Great Soviet hockey player, woven from pieces of mixed and modified facts, sometimes looks clumsy. The impression that the director has not fully decided on the concept of the story he is telling is amplified from scene to scene.
Then the clumsy graphics, then the intricate visual effects... Simpler, comrades, simpler, more plausibility, more game.
I want to believe every frame, every note, but the picture lies, the composer fails a tense scene, the heroine of Svetlana Ivanova by coincidence is the hero of Danila Kozlovsky several times, led by a mysterious Destiny, and the Canadians are even shown ridiculously caricatured.
I don’t understand why you can’t strain yourself and do it without a hitch, without a hitch, to merge the narrative together so that your breath freezes, so that you can walk smoothly and not stumble, staring at the grainy image with bewilderment? That's a shame.
In general, Nikolai Lebedev passed the test, well, but not brilliantly. Brilliantly - only Menshikov, or according to the idea of the creators, or benevolent to his charisma, but he makes his character central, he is the main character of the film, the film and the viewer - his.
The film about the Great should not yield in greatness, but, alas, conceded.
That's too bad.

"Legend N17" is a complete surprise. There haven't been such films in a long time. This one. Such a film was shot in Russia (I confess that I did not expect this from Russian cinema). That's two. The actors playing the main roles almost surpassed themselves. That's three. Three key points that are truly impressive.
After watching Legend, the patriotic spirit rises very much. Contemporary war films cannot charge with the patriotism that Legend N17 could charge. When you leave the room, be prepared to feel as if you have entered another world. This is likely to happen to you.
Such a powerful, impressive, striking movie has not been shown for a long time. Especially the Russian movie. In what ages in the Russian film does not feel stupid (and inept) imitation of Western cinema.
The directors managed to show the main character - and he is really a hero - a quite ordinary person with his problems, thoughts, ups and downs. And with a strong spirit. That's actually the difference. There are no pretentious speeches and actions, no instant ups and equally rapid downs. The description of Kharlamov’s life is like waves – up and down, without stopping. Sometimes the waves get higher.
The plot is simple, but almost from the very beginning keeps in suspense, and by the end reaches such a climax that it is difficult to sit still.
Kozlovsky and Menshikov simply outdid themselves. Both showed a different side of their talent. Menshikov was especially impressed, although Danila did not lose to an older colleague - he managed to avoid repeating the character from the movie "We are from the future", and we saw another Kozlovsky. The roles of the first and the second did well. Menshikov gave “feel” Tarasov, and Kozlovsky managed to show the ups and downs of Kharlamov, without making his hero some mythical character.
“Legend N17” is a grand film, which has not been in Russian cinema for a long time. This film can be seen by everyone, even a young viewer, to whom a movie of this kind can be very useful. In the final credits, the whole hall applauded, like a stadium full of Canadians applauding a Russian hockey player. Of course, the film is not without drawbacks (for example, the writers “played” with facts from Kharlamov’s life, changing some places), but they do not want to look at them at all.
Go to this movie, do not spare money and time. Trust me, it's worth it!
Sport is pure emotion: positive or negative. They can't be neutral. You always care about someone or you care more.
Very worried about the film about Valery Kharlamov. And even more worries for Nikolai Lebedev, who shot this film. For a long time he was not in the “big movie”. Since his 2002 Star, this is his first big project.
I'm glad the fears weren't justified. It's a great movie. Great acting of all without exception.
"Your number 17." The whole world knows him.
For Valery Kharlamov, everyone was sick, from small to large. And ordinary men from the street or yard and a doctor in the hospital, and the party elite of the USSR. He was a truly national hero, an idol of millions, like Yuri Gagarin. And the appearance of Kharlamov’s genius was facilitated by his determination, perseverance, thirst for victories and Tarasov’s coaching talent.
For Spartacus fans, the film may seem anti-Spartacus. Like, and Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev is shown as an oppressor and, they say, the entire party elite supported him, and no less the Great Vsevolod Mikhailovich Bobrov is depicted only as a shadow of the Great Anatoly Vladimirovich Tarasov. But it was really, and it's part of the story that doesn't tolerate subjunctive inclinations. There was a lot of injustice to the leadership of Spartacus. Whatever you say, it was Tarasov who prepared the team for the 1972 super series, not Vsevolod Mikhailovich. It really was the Tarasov team.
Perhaps the film looks a little pretentious, but I think that about such personalities as Valery Borisovich Kharlamov you need to shoot just such films. Don’t be afraid to make a beautiful movie. There's nothing wrong with that. He's our hero! They should be proud! And all this realism and truthfulness is enough in everyday life. For example, the United States of America is not ashamed and enjoys making pathetic films about its hero and stories. Operation Argo is a prime example of this. Why should we infringe on our history and our heroes who glorified our country on all fronts, including sports? That era is worth making films about.
The acting in the film is great. Oleg Menshikov Although purely outwardly does not look like Anatoly Tarasov, but internally and emotionally brilliantly reincarnated in him. His hero is at the same time a tyrant, a despot and at the same time an experienced, wise mentor, friend, teacher. That's a joker.
Daniela Kozlovsky, the most promising young domestic actor, perfectly coped with the role of Kharlamov. His experiences on the screen, those feelings that he showed, I want to believe. How he looked for an approach and believed Tarasov, how he fell in love and quarreled with a girl, how he suffered an injection at half-time, how he hugged Tarasov before leaving. How sincerely I did not understand that to communicate with a party person is to expose myself and the coach. All this is authentically conveyed by Danila.
Vladimir Menshov in the role of the main “villain” of the film Balashov was simply shocked. Like Harlamov, I also wanted to hit him.
Roman Madianov, coach of Chebarkul "Star" Vladimir Alfer. He's a good guy. He does not scream and sincerely rejoices in Valeria’s goals. A very positive image.
Nina Usatova, in the role of a doctor who constantly paints her lips, very much reminded the doctor of the pioneer camp in the school “Welcome or outsiders are forbidden entry”. She is charismatic in this role, it was very fun.
Alexander Lobanov, Kharlamov's friend in "Zvezda", "CSKA" and "Company of the USSR"Alexander Gusev, for some reason very reminded Makar Gusev from "Adventures of Electronics". Maybe because he played hockey too. A true friend. Everywhere and always together.
Father, Kharlamov - Boris Shcherbakov. Always on my son's side. His hope and support.
Mom, Begonia. Kharlamov's most loyal fan. Even when Valery left the house and did not talk to her, she continued to look after her son even in the reflection of the mirror. For her, this is primarily a native child, not a hockey player. And every time she sends him to another fight, her heart bleeds. Alejandra Greppi expressive in this role. The scene where she came to Tarasov to ask for Valery, one of the funniest in the film.
It is also worth noting the small role Paul Nikitin who played another Great man, commentator Nikolai Alexandrovich Ozerov.
I would like to note the humorous images of Canadian hockey players. But if you look at the hockey chronicle of those years, you can see that this exaggeration and comic makes sense to be. This arrogance of the hockey team of maple leaves, bullish habits, really took place. Big hairstyles, chewing gum, fingers on the throat everything was. And dialogue after the game Kharlamov and the Canadian. After this game, Canadians learned about Russian hockey, the Russian invincible Red Machine.
It is amazing the accuracy with which the era of that time was transmitted. Techniques on the street (including Canadian), extra clothes, costumes of players, hockey uniforms.
The picture in the film looks juicy, bright and seemed like it was shot by Soviet-era cameras. Images are reliable. The match itself looks just amazing. Removal of the opponent overboard, power receptions, dispensing, Kharlamov's contours, the spirit of the stadium and stands. All at the highest level. The director and directors did their best.
Nikolai Lebedev managed to collect from the facts of Valery Kharlamov’s life a strong script that intrigues and keeps in suspense throughout the film.
I really hope that, like Valery Borisovich Kharlamov the film "Legend N17" will become a legend of domestic cinema.
