Cold War, but some like it hotter One of the best films about the Cold War is an exceptional movie. Here everything is serious, the build-up of drama takes us into an atmosphere of tension, incredibly exciting - heats up to the limit, not letting go even after the climax! I won’t be interested in retelling the plot – the film is worth seeing! Equivalent to the films: Moby Dick, Under Us the Enemy, Security System. And at the same high level! The film was directed by James B. Harris, who previously worked with Stanley Kubrick as a producer, did his job professionally and with great dignity. The destroyer's captain, Eric Finlander (Widmark), is impressive, tough and obsessed, and he has his reasons, as well as Commander Wolfgang Shrepke, a former Nazi German submariner ace and now a NATO consultant. Sidney Poitier and Martin Bolsam complete the picture as they witness a cat-and-mouse game with a Soviet submarine.
Definitely one of the best Cold War movies!
