Scott Spear, who replaced John Chu, who was responsible for the previous two parts, shared the view of his predecessor that the franchise should develop along the path of a "dance show with a script" and not a "film about dancing", and therefore the balance, which in the previous part finally shifted towards choreography, remained unchanged. Therefore, we are again waiting for a rather boring script, incomprehensible dialogues, passing characters, but excellent dances.
However, it cannot be said that Spear did not bring anything of his own to the franchise. First, he took a rather bold step, almost removing the lower break from the film, on which the series largely held. Realizing that the styles that replaced him are inferior in entertainment, the director worked with the production to fame, making a real work of art from dances. A very spectacular scene in the museum (especially ballerinas under a minimalist beat), a great episode in the lobby of the building, where the dancers moved in black suits and hats, and a large-scale final dance - all this is breathtaking and causes a desire to reconsider.
Unfortunately, as mentioned earlier, all the other components of the film quality is much lower. Even the secondary characters, who in the second and third parts became a real salvation of the extra-dancing episodes, this time pumped up: there is absolutely no one who could catch a look. A couple of old-timers of the series appear only at the very end - during that very final dance. The rest of the time, you’ll have to fight the urge to rewind empty dialogue and cheap dramatic tricks.
However, with all the disadvantages, you can not but pay tribute to the franchise, which for four films is kept at a quite decent level. Therefore, starting to view the fifth part, I keep the hope that the review of it will also be colored green.
7 out of 10
It's the best movie in the series a step forward, only this movie out of five got me emotional. So much creativity, they are really amazing! Many write in reviews that there is no plot, just there is and is completely different from the mechanical plot of the same type of four other films. (As ivanzypher wrote in his review, I quote, "Remember the storyline of most dance movies? When is their hall/house/cookie taken away from a team of dancers (to emphasize) if they can’t beat the best team in town? And each time, a team with positive characters is first smeared on the dance floor, and then they have an epiphany / girl / guy and they easily beat everyone and everything. Personally, this scheme is already pretty tired.” So I am tired, I hate the same type.
In previous films and dances are the same in incomprehensible stretched clothes, the only interesting dance show turned out in the final 5 part of the step forward, but from that film only the finale is interesting. I want to watch the whole movie and watch all the dances. They're incredibly beautiful. And the idea is to dance where no one expects and surprise people just amazing.
And again, in other parts, the teams fought to win the dance to recognize themselves as the best. And in this film, they fought for the right cause - to defend their neighborhood, through their incredible talent as the best argument, is much cooler than the selfish desire to just win. This is closer to art than just dancing.
I am an avid movie lover and I have been very difficult to please with films lately. This is a great movie, I recommend it.
The series Step Forward put on the conveyor. It's no longer a trilogy, it's a quadrology. And who knows what happens next? I know there will be a Call of Duty from the movie world. I won’t say that the series will suffer from this, it’s just that sooner or later everyone will get tired of it – dancing, music, annual lav history. Forecasts are forecasts, and now we have a present and I am considering, as you already understand, Step Forward 4.
This time, by fate, we are in Miami. Sun, sea, sand, what else is needed for happiness, and for a summer hit? The plot this time revolves around a group of street dancers who arrange dance flash mobs. Yeah. The plot is not the best part of this series, and all dance films in particular. But in this story, you can think of many interesting moments. In fact, heroes have a purpose. First they want to win the contest, and then...
Lyrical retreat ON
Since the film is not ordinary, but in 3D format, you will be interested in how it (3D) is implemented in the film. In principle, great. The main cool 3D moments are associated with the above-mentioned contest.
Lyric retreat OFF
That’s all you need to know about the story. I'll say even more, you can forget about it altogether, and just look at the cool dances. And of course, listen to great music.
Music for you
Speaking of music. Accustomed to a series of hip-hop, r’n’b and club sounds replaced the mainstream dubstep. Like any musical phenomenon, he has firmly taken root in society and is not going to leave it. What swings his participation in the film, we can say that this style was chosen for a reason. The choreography was set specifically for him.
Dance, dance, in a crazy rhythm
Now about the dancers. As previously noted, the dance is really cool. But what is more cool is where these dances are danced (the tautology technique is used specifically). Places are different - street, beach, office, restaurant, museum. For the museum, the authors of the film want to express great gratitude. Taking into account all the specifics of the dance and the aesthetic importance of the museum, they did not spoil anything. This moment is so well-directed that it cuts into memory and does not come out of there for a very long time.
Beauty of this movie
In order to somehow diversify the review, well, and create my own style, I do this section, or the nomination, who likes it more. Absolutely in every film there is a girl that you remember, and her image does not leave your mind for a long time, such a cute girl. I think this idea will be supported and we will stay with it for a long time. And the cuteness of this film becomes ... drumbeat ... Cleopatra Coleman, who played DJ Penelope.
The winner is ...
A new "Step Forward" of a certain hit this summer. If you like dancing, and the rhythms of your heart breaks dubstep, do not pass by. That's all I think. Good viewing:
Of the whole series of Steps Forward, the fourth part surprised me the most. I liked it the most, too.
The story is quite standard, with the same standard characters and a minimum of emotions. But there is a very important message here. Dance is a way to express yourself and your individuality, as well as a way to convey information to people. Dance helps people to unite, dance affects minds and hearts, and with the help of dance you can and should fight. While watching this theme was very encouraging.
The dance itself in this part is just a bomb. Incredibly complex choreography, grandiose and large-scale flash mobs, coherence and synchronicity of performance, bright and stylish visual. They're amazing! To this winding music and want to move yourself, just like the mayor.
However, I still wonder how they are so easy to solve such difficult situations, so easy to forgive each other after such outright betrayals. I understand that the film has a positive note, but this ease is more suitable for fairy tales.
Speaking of fairy tales. The final dance of Emily and Sean is really fabulous, gentle, sensual and beautiful.
I would definitely recommend this one to watch.
Same thing again. The same song, the same girl and the same guy, the same love, the same struggle, the same dances, the same mistakes, taken for betrayal, forgiveness and happy ending. This, of course, repeats what we saw in the first three parts - well, why not watch again? It really hurts that after the magnificent first part, the franchises merge everything average, but it turned out not so bad.
I am not an expert in such dances, and I do not like music, but the tracks were really incendiary and not bad.
As for dancing. I'm far from them. But some of the numbers really got hooked. Dance in the museum - God, it was beautiful! All these people painted under the pictures, it is so exciting and enchanting! And the office dance? So provocative and thoughtful. Dance at the beginning? So summery and rebellious! Emily's dance? So touching and sad when she watches every movement she shows that there must be more than one. And the final dance? All these garages and different styles of dancing are impressive.
I really liked the atmosphere. Miami, Florida. And it's not just a sunny, bright city where everybody's doing well -- no, we're showing the suburbs, the poor neighborhoods, the people who don't want to lose their homes. And that fucking atmosphere is divine! That was really cool.
Characters and actors. Sean and Emily are nothing, the characters we’ve seen three hundred times, the actors who play them are certainly more dancers than actors, but they weren’t annoying.
But Eddie (Misha Gabriel Hamilton) is more interesting. The character turned out quite bright, he liked it the most. DJ Penelope appeared infrequently, but her character was remembered more than the main characters. She's pretty and she's got a good look. I think we could have done it better, she could have taken on a humorous share of the film (which, by the way, was almost absent). It would have been a character in the spirit of Lucy, Nora’s girlfriend from the first part.
Episodic dancer characters are always on top. Once again, I am convinced that they are better than the main characters.
And of course, the appearance of Moose and Jenny Kido – they are just amazing! There is nothing to say about Moose, he is a real bomb, but Jenny. She is remembered not as often as about her friend, but in vain - I loved her for a long time, a charming character. Plus, remember Jason, he's good.
As a result – a good film, fresh, bright, motivating!
You know, I've always loved Step forward, always. I saw the first three parts. But somehow 2 more parts came out unnoticed. I decided to watch this movie.
After watching the trailer and posters first, I had a question: ‘How does this part relate to the rest of the movies?’ It somehow stands out and differs from other films, I even thought that Step Forward merged, but I decided to watch all the same.
Well, on the chic plot, I did not calculate . What can be the story of a dance movie? To win some championship and earn money, but in this film a slightly different championship, and it and the championship can be called only with a stretch.
The film as always invigorates and inspires. After watching it, you want to dance yourself, sign up for some art school or breakdancing courses.
Ryan Guzman, Catherine McCormick, Misha Gabriel Hamilton and others, I see these actors for the first time, but they dance perfectly, the dances are beautiful and spectacular, apparently the choreographer has worked for fame.
The soundtrack in the dance film can not be bad. In the previous parts it was rap music, in this rap music, club and pop music. Although one bad track in this film was - Far East Movement feat.Justin Bieber& Redfoo - "Live my life."
But the whole viewing was tormented by the same question: 'How is this part related to the previous ?'. Usually, the hero (or heroes) of the previous part appear in the next part, thereby linking the story of the previous part with the next part. Most of the time, I didn’t see a single actor from the previous installment when Kido and Robert Alexander III ‘Moose’ suddenly appeared.
When I read a little bit about the film before I saw it, I found out that Summit Entertainment had made it without the involvement of Touchstone, and I was already hoping that another Twilight didn’t work out, but the film turned out to be not bad, but not better than the previous parts.
If the previous parts, I put all 9-ki, then here only 8-ka, but solid.

“Ladies and gentlemen, have you been asking for weeks who the MOBs are?” The MOB is all of us. (c) Sean
If you love dancing or just movies about dancing, you should watch STEP UP: Revolution. This is the best film in the series Step Forward. This is the best movie about dancing.
This film inspires new achievements. It teaches you not to sit still and never give up. Follow your heart and always fight for your dreams.
Pretty actors. Nice music. Many, many interesting and beautiful dances. It’s hard not to start dancing.
Dance is a way of expressing yourself. Dance is an ancient body language, sometimes more eloquent than words. This is probably the last part of Step Up.
So far, my favorite part has been the first. The following were interesting, but clearly inferior. After Step 3, she thought the film had probably run out of steam because she couldn’t imagine anyone else going to the cinema instead of complaining, “I’m tired!” And they made it up! The fourth part was able to put all the previous ones on the shoulder blades. And did it incendiary, easy and with special grace.
To say that at every opportunity I revisit ‘Step Up’, if my eyes are on this film, is to say nothing. It's a dance movie. This movie is a song. This is a movie that makes me cry three times exactly during the course of watching. As easy as it is. Just as inspiring. Because you want to dance, as do adults in jackets at every opportunity when they see incendiary young people dancing here. So do you, even if you are not able and shy, you will want to move along with them. Soundtracks for two years of the existence of this film have long been downloaded and lift the mood for a hundred! He also inspires you to exploits so that you fight for your dream, a righteous cause, want to express something with your favorite deed, prove your right to life and existence, if you take it by and large. Most likely, skeptics will say that there is no plot in this film (it is difficult to call it such, because everything is too dynamic here, and mostly there is dancing and music playing here).
But there is. Plot. And a love story, and severe male friendship, and personal family dramas, and even the fight for the whole quarter! But that’s all you’ll see if you watch what I think is the best dance movie I’ve ever seen. Okay. Flashmobers "MOB", immediately explode YouTube with their dances on colorful cars. Dance N once. Dance at the exhibition, dance in jackets, dance in a restaurant, dance-protest, final dance. All this settles in my head, along with well-chosen music (separate respect DJ) and mounted shots. In the end, you will receive a message from the MOV from a talented silent graffiti artist. Emily (the daughter of a rich father) and Sean (just a regular dancer guy) are a great couple and new heroes. And the old, good characters, familiar to you from previous films, the same moose, for example. “Step forward” is a truly summer, bright, incendiary, stylish and youthful film.
8 out of 10
After such a successful second and third parts of this film, I did not expect to see such a disgusting fourth picture.
Let's start with actors. Their game is at the level of a cheap series on NTV. There is a terrible playfulness; it is clear that most of them are new to this business.
Special attention will be paid to the two main characters: too perfect appearance of the male part (as well as in other parts in fact) - girls as usual scavenge and will fly into the world of their fantasies with a new boyfriend from the TV, without this in no way; the female part disappointed even more - the face is still quite tolerable, but the creepy figure is clearly not acceptable for a film about dancing.
The plot. Banal to the horror. Everything starts well, then a quarrel, then everything falls apart before our eyes, reconciliation and they lived happily ever after, saving their world along the way. When I saw it, I felt like Vanga.
Dancing. They decided to put it all together. There's hip-hop, ballroom dancing, Latin. I don't know why. The dances themselves are quite banal and rubbed with the previous parts to holes. If there were any interesting moments (running with ropes, trampolines), they could not be presented properly. A huge number of people in the last dance created some confusion and cacophony. There was a feeling that it was all made for one man only, Daddy Anderson, to point out all his sins and scold him for it. Even the mayor danced, a joke.
It is also not pleasing for the absence of any caressing moments. In the third part, for example, there was a moment with liquids flying into space using a fan. Everything is empty and dull.
Another disadvantage is only a minute appearance of the moose in the frame. It was he who made the previous two parts cool. Without it, a step forward is a step backward.
Oh, horror, in this part, the presence of LAPS is off the charts. An example is the extremely low quality of “shooting” moments, where video ratings on YouTube are shown. What happens to time scales is unknown to anyone. The video is 6 minutes, and the viewing would take 20 seconds (based on the scale). Sometimes the video is not played at all, but, miraculously, it is shown. I had a very good eye for it.
From plus I can distinguish:
- Cars at the beginning of the movie. Interesting, but it could have been better.
- Music. She's level. There's nothing to complain about.
- gallery dance. It looked quite interesting, but there was also some overdoing, because I could not imagine how this could all happen at an exhibition of paintings.
- Dance with bills and hats. The music decided, but the production was partially pleased.
The pros are over.
Conclusion. The film made no impression on me. Banal, predictable, nothing to surprise. For me, the third part is the best, because there were more beautiful dances, and their shooting was more interesting and spectacular, and the actors played better. This film is far from that level. Trying to pull mass, but it would be worth the quality.
I love serious films, but sometimes I want to relax, not think, but just admire the film and this film is just what you need.
The plot is amazing. This idea with flash mobs is so original and interesting that the film did not make you bored. So much creativity, dancing and everything at the top. Thank you so much to the writers!
I love hip-hop dance and all the dances that come from it, but I don’t listen to or understand this style of music, but I liked the one that sounded in the film, I only knew one group (The Irrepressibles) of the genre, which I listen to and was very happy.
I also want to highlight the "b" setting of the film. They showed Miami in all its glory, in good quality, just the eye was pleased. Also places with flash mobs. I really want to highlight the flash mob that took place at the art exhibition. It was amazing.
Actor's game was good for everyone. The thing is, I didn't pay attention to it, it's mostly dancing and all the actors are dancers in real life, with no acting experience. For me, the main thing in a dance film is a good plot and good dances, I do not pay attention to acting, since I have already said I like serious films, and on simple films, when I want to relax, I do not even delve into all the details.
In general, the film is excellent in all respects, and I would recommend it to everyone, but, of course, if you, reading my review, watch it and you do not like it, then it already tastes and colors, but from my environment this part of all parts of "Step forward" likes everyone the most and I too.
9 out of 10
I really liked the movie. Made a huge impression. I'm really excited!
He's so energetic, so positive. I liked everything in this part.
The plot, although not original, but quite interesting. Particular attention is paid to romantic history. Which is not surprising. In general, everything is quite good in the development of the plot.
There are more dances in this part (which is great). And what. This is so spectacular! From the first minute. It was even more interesting because they were flash mobs. It means more effects, different places. In short, it's a plus movie.
The acting did not disappoint. Ryan Guzman and Catherine McCormick played the main characters well. In fact, all the other actors too.
I want to talk about music separately. This is an important part of the film. The remixes are just beautiful, full of drive. It gives a special atmosphere to the film.
I also want to mention the appearance of heroes from other parts. It’s great to see them again, albeit for a few minutes. But especially Adam J. Sevani! Everyone's favorite moose. Seeing him dance again is the height of happiness. Well, for me personally, that's it.
I think that part was more interesting. More in terms of dance and music. I liked the romantic story better in this part. This film deserves the highest praise. Spectacular, interesting, energizing. I'd like to see it.
The most worthy of the dance Movie I have seen so far. Although this thought flashed that they are all worthy of their time, that is, the creators try to make, in this case, the Steps forward as relevant as possible, so they use time-appropriate music and forms of dance demonstration. In this case, there was a lot of dubstep and other modern musical trends, and presented all the riot of dance colors was in the form of a now popular action - flash mobs.
Dancing in this part of the franchise is just crazy, and that’s it. Although there are not many of them, perhaps less than in the previous parts, but each is super-quality staged and performed + music score.
The plot is banal, as is customary in such films, the sweet happy ending even slightly smeared the impression of the ending and the masterpiece final dance, but the writers still worked well, giving chaotic-dancing people the idea with which they carried out their flash mobs throughout the film. At first, it was simple and transparent, but then it evolved from a selfish desire to get rich and show itself to the world in social protest and a way to draw attention to real problems.
Actors are also above average, i.e. you can also see serious preparatory work: either great dancers were taught to play so well, or good actors are so great to dance, but the result is very good.
The main disadvantage of the picture for me was its absolute unrealism, which ultimately turns the film into a series of beautiful music videos. Although in theory, dudes trying to make money, such street guys and girls, are quite capable of organizing some resonant flash mob, but not so financially sophisticated in terms of costumes, lighting, preparation and implementation in various rooms. Even more or less you can believe the final dance in the docks, but here is a super-performance in the museum or a business flash mob in the company office with flying bucks and other tinsel somehow do not fit with the images of poor youth. However, here the director is justified by really cool numbers, after watching which you understand that these are only concomitant circumstances that are not necessary to explain, you just need to accept it as it is and enjoy the spectacle.
P.S. It is impossible not to note, of course, the appearance in the end of the Pirates from the 3rd part and specifically the Moose. It turned out spectacularly and added to the final gloss.
This is definitely the best movie of all the previous parts. Maybe I decided that because I went to the theater with my friends to see him. But I remember when we left the theater, we were very impressed.
Dancing. They were flawless in that part. They've become more complex, more interesting. I liked everything, in the restaurant, in the office, on the streets, on cars, in the museum. Everywhere. It was so cool. And it's done so well. I really liked the rehearsal of the couple of main characters on the beach, on the beach. Very beautiful, sexy and romantic.
The plot is different from what it was. This time, a dance team called MOB is dancing in protest. The fact is that the father of the main character Emily decides to literally demolish the area in which the dancers from MOB live and build something new. Emily decides to join the dancers, that is, going against her father. The plot is interesting.
Actors are cool, sexy, plastic (if of course they danced themselves).
Music. Here it is the best, compared to those parts, it is simply magnificent! She went to every dance, to every place where this dance actually took place.
I really liked the movie.
I am a fan of the series 'Step Up'. I really liked Parts 2 and 3, despite the banality of the story. In part 4, the plot is still banal, but the difference between 2, 3 and 4 is that the previous two were at least realistic.
Oh, my God, do you really believe that a bunch of guys and girls can prevent a large-scale construction of a hotel chain? The main characters themselves had to dance from the fact that they were finally given normal houses.
The reality of what is happening can be equated to zero. It was the first time they could dance and run away. But in public places, such as a museum, a cafe, in the office (where the city council meeting actually took place), the cops would interrupt their dance, twist and send them to the monkey house in 2 seconds. No one would care what they see moving beautifully. Eliminating the violators of public order is their job, and they somehow remembered it only towards the end of the film, when the MOBs became brazen and began to destroy everything. And why at the presentation of a new hotel, which would have invested millions, there was no security – this is a mystery to me.
To be honest, I wanted to turn off the film during the party on the beach, but until the last time I believed that the elk would soon appear and correct all the nonsense. The most interesting character in this series was given only 1 minute! When he appeared in the film, I almost did not tear. He, another Korean (also from parts 2 and 3) and a guy moving ala robot raised the film level from ' Disgusting' to ' Acceptable'. I hope that in the 5th part of the moose will again make the main character.
Step 4 is a story about a girl betraying her father, who wishes her well and tries to make her a millionaire. And she betrays him for a guy she's known for a week and the neighborhood she's been in for the first time. And she does it twice! This is wrong! They set an example for children who look at them.
The pluses include only beautiful dances, good music and cool scenery. In this regard, everything is done perfectly.
So far, this is the best modern dance film I've seen. It was pleasantly surprised that the movie is about life, and not about dance competitions, as usual.
Beautiful actors. The picture was good. Great soundtrack. And dance performances are a real show.
Bravo writers, director.
I think people who are completely indifferent to dance will be impressed.
The scale, of course, is impressive. If the fifth part comes out, I will definitely watch it.

From the very beginning I want to mention the amazing idea of the film. It is different from the previous steps. There is a group of "MOB", which is engaged in that arranges dance flash mobs, so popular now, in the most unusual places. And the meaning of all this is to earn on passion. Rather prove to other itchy relatives that this is not just a hobby, but the meaning of life. But, just the show turns into a fight with developers for the quarter in which people live, for the place where they grew up. An almost unreal, but very beautiful story with unreal dances. The show at the museum still haunts my mind. How beautiful and unusual it all looked.
That is why I would like to mention the choreographers and music producers of the film, who prepared a wonderful team and finally interested even me! I've only seen one movie about dance before.
Very beautiful Catherine McCormick, winner of the dance competition, perfectly performed her role. Before this film, she was just a dancer in the crowd, and here she finally showed that she can still play a little bit. Well done, I really liked it. I also really liked DJ Cleopatra Coleman. I know it's a role and she's not a DJ, but how clearly she played it. She conveyed the feeling that DJs feel when performing their tracks.
The film is primarily about purpose, the second about love. I really enjoyed the moment where Emily is dancing in class, alone, instead of a paired performance, and the dance studio director sees that there should be a partner in place next to her. Here you can see exactly what feelings the girl experiences in her dance.
Sensitive, kind and complex choreographically and very interesting film. It is a pity that the preparations of the mob have never been shown, except for the final part. But for everything else
The film was very disappointing. Once again I made sure that the further, the worse. After watching the trailer, I was expecting something radically new, interesting, winding. The expectations were not met.
Plot. Rich dad doesn't let the main character dance with street dancers. But she's going against his will. And then the secret becomes clear. It seems that there are no other stories in principle! Most of the dance films I saw consisted of: 1. an obstacle in the way of the main character; 2. the hero goes against “fate” (parents, friends, etc.); 3. the secret becomes obvious; 4. everything becomes fine. And this movie is no exception! A flash mob is a colorful, incendiary show. I expected this from the movie, but I didn’t expect it. Well, no love. Romeo and Juliet are nothing new today.
Dancing. If in the first two “Steps” there were dances, real, with a soul, then in this film there were more of some jerking (another word and can not be called), which were learned in advance and everything. Bottom line: I didn't make a big impression.
Music. I understand that there are no friends in the taste and color, but... Of the whole movie, only one song I liked more or less. I've never had that with the steps!
I watched the movie just to watch it. No intrigue, no unexpected plot twists - nothing happened. The film was very disappointing.
After watching Step 4, I wondered what it was.
The trailer was promising: Miami - a beautiful city, the sun, the sea, beautiful girls, dancing on the hoods of cars - all fans of the genre were waiting impatiently. But what did they get?
The beginning of the film: those same dances on the hoods of cars, but no longer to the winding music, but under the rotten rumbling to which even the legs do not dance. The music is the first thing I didn’t like about the movie.
Two. The performance of the actors was at a low level. Emotions shown by the actors do not convince that their character really feels it. The dialogue is sluggish, uninteresting.
Three. The end of the film can be predicted from the beginning. The story itself is also predictable and uninteresting. If you’ve seen the first three, you can say that you already know the story of the fourth. If we compare all four films, we can say that the plot is very similar in all. But in the first three parts there are certain differences. Now take the fourth: a guy, he has a best friend (childhood friend), with whom they are very close, then he meets a girl, and later they with a friend over her and quarrel. It reminds us of the first part, later they make up and make friends again, as if nothing ever happened. And now the similarity with the third part: the team is fighting for something, but in the third part they fought for their warehouse (wanted to win money), and in the fourth part already for the district, the stakes are growing, right? But how can they influence the decision if even the houses in the area aren't theirs, they just film them. What do they want? If the building was its own, no one would dare to drive them out of it, but here it is a stranger, since the owners allowed to demolish, what questions can there be? And of course they decided to solve the problem with dancing. Sean and his team began to argue that dancing is a neighborhood culture, a dance popular all over the world that comes from this poor neighborhood. Would some kind of dancing affect people who are paid a lot? The dance can be seen anywhere else. This is absurd, gentlemen. And their dances are not so beautiful, and sometimes much better. And the teams at the end are not from this area, but gathered ' from all over the world' The plot zero, worn and predictable.
Separately, it should be noted that Emily’s girlfriend is superfluous here, she does not play any role in the film, she just is and that’s all. Meaning? Why do you even need it? I think I turned it on because other parts also have girls and love.
Now to sum up: the music is not incendiary, the actors are not emotional, the plot is very predictable, the dances are ordinary. In my opinion, this part is not worthy to stand in the same row with the first three. And life would be much more complicated than in this movie.
3 out of 10
If I had the opportunity to live my life again, I would not hesitate to devote it to dancing. And since I dance in my soul, today I can only dance in my soul.
What is
Sean and Eddie are best friends, professional dancers and Miami natives. They formed an independent dance group called Mob. Guys dream to express themselves to the whole world, but without connections it is very difficult. Therefore, "Mob" arranges stunning flash mobs in the most unexpected places (restaurants, exhibitions, roadways, etc.). Each performance turns into a real theatrical performance. For a few minutes, the city freezes, when the enchanted spectators come to their senses, the dancers disappear, leaving behind the original graffiti. Filming their performances and putting them on the Internet, the guys want to win a record number of views to win the competition and get a solid monetary reward. “Mob” are always half a step away from success, but everything changes when Sean accidentally meets Emily. They share a huge social chasm, but this is nothing compared to what they have in common. Their common passion is dancing.
Opinion
In 2012, the dance epic “Step Forward” experienced its fourth birth. For the first time “Step Forward” was released in 2006, its faces, legs and hands were the now famous Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan (now Devan-Tatum). In 2008, the successful project was continued, so appeared “Step Up: Streets” with Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman. In 2010, the stars of “Step Up 3D” danced. And two years later (seemingly, dancers are superstitious people), a young director Scott Spear decided to take up the fourth part of The Step.
As you can see, this film does not involve any unexpected twists and turns of the plot. Despite natural difficulties and obligatory quarrels, the heroes still achieve their goal. Even if the goal in the course of the plot is slightly modified, the end result is much more pleasant. I’m not being sarcastic at the moment, because this ... erm... template is not a flaw, but only a feature of a real franchise. "Step forward" is designed to inspire hope, to affirm the lifeless and to demonstrate that everything will work out, of course, if you are not afraid to take a step forward. This, I hasten to say, is not naive. You have to be brave and take steps. Everyone has their own path (you should not drive your mind into the framework of only dancing), this is what you need to walk along, trying to be the best at what you do.
In short, the didactism of the film is the most positive. Let’s talk about the aesthetics of dance. I have to admit that I watched the first “Step Up” just a year ago. Watched for Channing. He's great. But in the dance productions and musical compositions themselves, of course, there was already a touch of antiquity. It wasn’t a noble retro (what the film deserves to be in the future, like Patrick Swayze’s Dirty Dancing (1987), but what we sluggishly call “old.” But the fresh "Step forward 4" looks stylish, fashionable, cool . The film presents the latest dance styles and style trends, all this is mixed under cool tracks and embellished with a wrapper of trendy clothes. In short, the appearance of the last “Step forward” is what you need and the content is worthy. General productions are just real masterpieces. Each has its own unique face, atmosphere, style. Well, the skill of dancers can only be admired. You realize how much work has been put into making movements words available to the general public.
A separate "wow" I want to express the lead actor Ryan Guzman. It is no secret that a talented person always seems more beautiful than he really is, because skill falls in love. One can only imagine how irresistible a talented handsome man seems. Yasen stump, immediately wanted to be in the place of his partner Katherine McCormick, which made him a worthy pair. The guys also played well, given the fact that they are still dancers, not actors.
The most important composition of any film is music, for a musical, high-quality musical accompaniment is three times necessary. I do not get tired of listening to the sound collection "Step forward 4". Despite the fact that the music in it is very different, both in style and rhythm, it is united by some inexplicable words of width and spaciousness: the lungs are filled with oxygen, and an adventurous tickle begins at the bottom of the abdomen, as during a rapid flight on a swing, and you go from a great height to a hurricane of frenzied emotions. You emerge and feel pleasant excitement and at the same time peace.
"Step forward 4" is a film-dance, film-emotion, film-work of art, film-life affirmation, film-education, film-protest, film-cry. Sometimes you have to scream to be heard.
In his genre without a doubt:
In my opinion, a lot of films have already been made on the topic of dance, and there is simply no point in making more films, because they copypaste the same thing. A guy-dancer meets a girl-dance lover or vice versa, but everything leads to the fact that in the end they dance together and win in a battle, competition, grandiose performance. And no one walks away from these clichés. And again, we see the same thing in the fourth part of Step Forward. I didn’t see anything like a “continuation,” except that in the finale, a couple of people from past movies flashed on screen to assure us, “Yes, this is really Step Forward.” But most importantly, there are people!! And I did it again, and I can’t say I didn’t like it. Everything is the same, though.
The plot moves to hot Miami, where a group of young and active guys arrange dance flash mobs and shoot everything on a video camera to participate in the ranking of the most popular videos on YouTube. Whoever gets more than 10 million views first, takes a lot of money. It's simple. One of the guys meets a girl who wants to apply for a professional dancer. And of course, he was very impressed.
Yes, this is a complete primitive, especially at the end, with all the snot and the like, but sat down to watch with a good mood - left with no less good.
Incendiary dances, cool music - the key to success. A lot of dubstep, but still manage to move under it coolly, although I do not very perceive it as music.
To worry about the heroes - did not chew, it is painfully familiar.
I'm not talking about acting. I didn’t see anything bad either.
Cool dances, incendiary music, cute actors and the spirit of warm Miami can not but warm the heart of a music lover. Girls can also roar about the “bitter fate” of the main character. Nothing supernatural is not shown, but you can pass the evening without boredom with powerful columns for everything.

From childhood we are taught that being greedy is bad. But the creators of “Step forward 4” this rule, apparently, was not taught. I do not see any other reason for the appearance of this film, other than the need to suck money out of loyal fans.
So, how can we please this film? Yes, in fact, almost nothing. The plot, was never the strong point of the series, and this time presented no surprises. You know all its twists and turns from the start, because each of the parts uses the same circuit. True, there used to be street dancers, and now flashmobers have become a big deal. Acting game there is no at all, it is quite expected for a film where the main roles are played by dancers. Their characters are unlikely to be remembered at least by name - they are too banal and not worked out for this. No humor, no dramatic moments. True, the main aspect of the film - dancing, remained at a high level, there is nothing to say. But even they can not dispel the longing of the boring dialogue that lasts most of the film.
Wrapper without a gift, wrapper without candy - the new "Step forward" does not carry anything that could put it in the category of good films. And beautiful dances can be found just on the Internet to watch.
Films from the series “Step forward”, in fact, disposable, as they are filmed under the influence of a certain “mainstream”. This time we see DJs in headphones fashionable, this year, firms and dances under dubstep, which, as always, put magnificent choreographic productions.
The difference between this part and the rest of the films in this series are flash mobs, which are really new and look on the screen very large-scale and cool!
In general, this is a commercial project and the film is template (although no one expected another option, I think), but it is made, like the previous parts, qualitatively and with a soul, in general, designed in the style of Step Up! Therefore, I will be happy to watch the fifth part of the series, for which, undoubtedly, the imagination of directors and choreographers will be enough.
If you want to relax, look at beautiful girls or guys, views of Miami and immerse yourself in modern dance culture without worrying too much about “audit” plots, this film is for you.

To be honest, the film I originally included with the prejudice that other than dancing (and even then not necessarily), I do not like anything. The reason for this was the third part of Step with a plot so stupid and predictable that sitting in the cinema I didn’t know what to do – either to cry or laugh hysterically. And there is also such a pretentious name. But as a person interested in films tied to choreography, I had to make my own reasonable “phi”.
But here's the bad luck - everything turned out to be somewhat different, and I, as an exception, was glad that I was wrong in my expectations.
Not that the plot was so delightfully unpredictable, and the actors’ play is sensual. Nope. And it's not even about the choreography itself, which, by the way, was wonderful. But I saw the idea clearly. And it was in this part that it was exactly such that I wanted to write about it and tell about it, so that I really noticed it, without having any desire to look for something and notice.
Art can change the world. Do not read on if you disagree with me. Don’t read on if you don’t think dancing is an art.
What exactly is this "art"? A way of expressing yourself? Artistic nonsense from someone's sick head? Is it possible for a single person not to feel so lonely? Yes, but not only. It's also a way of saying something. To convey your thought, your ideas, your vision, your protest. Anything. If you discard the chic dances, the too “minimum” love line, all these problems in the relationship of a boy-girl, daughter-father, boss-subordinate, rich-poor, each other, then we get a purely beautiful message not only to express yourself, but also to eradicate injustice through this very self-expression.
Yes, everything in the film is exaggerated and embellished. Yes, this is a fairy tale and in life everything is not so simple and easy. Yes, perhaps another director would have revealed this idea in a much more dramatic and fascinating way. But all these arguments lose their relevance to me, because I was inspired by this drive, I wanted to break prohibitions and make revolutions.
For the first time, evaluating a film about dancing, I do not want to paint for a long time how wonderful the productions were, and how my whole body was covered with goosebumps, and the fingers on my leg wrote out unimaginable pirouettes on the floor. In this film, the idea is more important to me. What's the point of talking about dancing? They need to dance, or at least watch.
Although, if you think about whether or not to watch Step 4, I would say watch if you are willing to forgive a simple plot and a rather mediocre acting, if you need drive and a lively emotion of movement, if you want to change the world, but still fear it. Watch and be inspired by the revolution.
You're not gonna demolish our neighborhood because we're gonna blow your heads off!
It has become a tradition to wait for the next part of the franchise “Step forward”. I want to see new dance numbers, feel the heartbeat of rebellious dancers, veiled as incendiary music. Dance has become a life, a form of protest and a form of reconciliation.
In the new plot, everything remained in the traditions of the genre, only the characters, the themes of the narrative and performances changed. Spectacularity has not lost force, only now the fabulous motivating story is diluted with the realities of the strategies of construction companies: the area in which dancers live, claiming to be large-scale flash mobs, are going to be demolished. Of course, the daughter of the main antagonist joins the ranks of the “massovik-producers”, thereby smashing the plans of the rich father into ruin. Who would have thought that the idea of fighting back “people in ties” would go so far.
Yeah, I liked the guys' determination to dance to prove their worth. In general, the film is at the level of previous ones. Therefore, it is useless to stutter about the advantages: they are, this is enough. They're good and visible. Heroes are still cute, flexible, delightful; the numbers are original and energetic.
However, not everything is as smooth as I would like. The script, again, is not new. If you take the details aside, everything remains as it is: joining the group - rehearsals - love - protest - sadness caused by betrayal - correction of mistakes - happy ending. What we're used to. This is not a disadvantage, but also not something that would be an additional plus.
Dubbing the main character should be done more, or what, adults - although here you can already judge by personal taste.
The final, in my opinion, is quite a fairy tale with some sweetness. There wasn't enough animation for more confirmation. In general, tolerable, but striking.
In the end, the fourth part of the “Step forward” has nothing to blame too much. The film was really good, inspiring. Those who love the franchise will certainly enjoy it. There is something in it that makes you believe in yourself - and if the creators of the quadritquel were able to achieve this, then not in vain tried!
It would seem that the successful franchise "Step forward" about young talented dancers is waning and many did not expect something extraordinary from the fourth part. However, the creators of the sequel took a risk and made an attempt to breathe new life into the new part. It seems to me that they managed to do it one hundred percent.
The fourth film of the franchise unites with its predecessors only two things (although these are the two main lines in all series) - it is, of course, dancing and a romantic knot between the main characters, of course, of the opposite sexes. But in this case, we have a striking difference in the dance itself. So, a team of skilled dancers arrange flash mobs on the streets of their native Miami, that is, at a certain time a group of young people show their skills, trying thereby to attract attention to themselves. They have a sense for this - the most extensive Internet resource, specializing in videos thrown by users themselves, announced the award to those who get to a certain number of views. But they will have a completely different motive to prove themselves.
In "Step forward 4" the script was missed moments of training, but was given much more time to show the dances themselves. Some may think they are very few, but their time range is very decent. The camera, when filming these scenes, takes as a basis some dancers, then others, then others, thus everyone is paid at least some attention. If the starting period, when we just get acquainted with the team "Mob", leaves some bewilderment with its extraordinary, but at the same time and the crossing of all the boundaries that were carefully held by the rest of the franchise, then you can further understand why such a sharp offensive operation was carried out on the viewer, because the remaining scenes of the dances no longer leave other emotions, the blood of delight and admiration for the beauty of choreography. And the climactic dance is raising the bar so much that I don't even know if anyone will ever be able to do something like that.
Indeed, dancing, as for me, gives a lot of pleasure, watching the movements of young and talented children is akin to the same affection from an unexpected pleasant surprise. The actors also contributed greatly to this. In his debut work in cinema, Ryan Guzman proved himself perfectly. A beautiful guy, not deprived of the talent of an artist, will clearly conquer the female sex, but the male will become envious of his abilities. He managed to connect the dance and the new discipline of on-screen love. Not bad for a debut. Aesthetics and graces brought to the film beauty Katherine McCormick. She also dances perfectly, well expressed the essence of her heroine, you should treat her with condescension, because she is not a professional actress. By the way, and the duo they came out clear and touching, and a pleasant look. Among the others there is still Misha Gabriel, thanks to whose participation the melodramatic line was accomplished, Cleopatra Coleman, which looked born for DJ equipment, and even Peter Gallagher lit up.
But there is another person who would simply be unforgivable to ignore. This is about the personification of the last parts of the franchise Adam Sevani, aka Moose. It appears at the very end, but just when it is necessary and the delight of a carefully prepared climax rises to the highest limit. In addition, he did not appear himself, but with an Asian plastic girl, who can also be recognized from other parts, Mary Koda. And also, oddly enough, I will note the guy from the extras, but this black guy with his sincerity and displaying it in facial expressions managed to attract attention (apparently, to call him Terence Dixon , and he is not even listed in the credits, but in vain, he deserved it).
I was fascinated by this entertainment spectacle, which unfolded in the tape "Step forward 4". He followed with admiration the beautifully staged choreography, the unrestrainedness of young talents. With sincere gratitude I note that the creators of this part did not hesitate to experiment, and this conquered me. In addition, "Step forward 4" has a very serious advantage - an enchanting ending. For dash and skill, for originality and non-stupidity, for virtuosity and choreography, for stylistics and sound, I put
Step Forward 4, like all the previous installments, looks quite naive in terms of plot, but as a dance film, it deserves the highest praise. There have never been more spectacular dances in the film industry. The most popular dance styles are selected and all kinds of extreme sports that can be appropriate in conjunction with dance are intertwined. The mass and diversity of the movement is exciting as never before.
“Revolution” should be seen not as a movie, but as a long clip. The plot is not very valuable, although in fact it is not bad. The social situation is relevant and quite vital, just described too pathetically. The plot twists are quite typical and expected. It's the same with dialogue: no originality and lots of platitudes. The finale contains too many positive changes per unit of time. It doesn’t make the ending logical, but it looks too naive. In general, in the whole series of “Steps” was always enough that the plot did not go beyond the line of delusion. He is only a link between the most beautiful dance productions, so judging him for the plot is pointless. After such a show, the story and explanation to the viewer is completely useless. So Step Forward Revolution can rightfully be called the best film in its genre to date.
Dance franchises are like cash cows. Times change, but to collect the cashier, you just need to keep up with fashion: find cute young people who can dance, dress them in trendy clothes and shoot at the right angle. The creators of the fourth “Step forward” laid out so that at first glance it is clear: the bench will not be closed for a long time.
The triumph of gloss and glamour blossoms on the screen from the very first minutes. The title guy seems to be unshaven, but exactly as much as stylists allow. He hails from poor neighborhoods, but that doesn’t stop him from wearing casual designer clothes and Nike sneakers. He and his friends don’t have money, the writers tell us, and we see that they can afford to rent a spacious training room and furnish it with Dell computers. In general, you have to be a complete fool to buy this, but, on the other hand, such films are not made in the name of realism. Watching stylish, well-built guys and girls beautifully presenting their bodies from the screen is much more pleasant than sweaty pimply teenagers in a ruined ballet studio.
Undoubtedly, the wow effect was achieved. The picture is polished to shine, the actors seem to have just come off the covers of magazines, the dance numbers are professionally staged. Unlike his predecessors, Scott Perr did not spend time filming street improvisations or rehearsals, only sparkling, carefully orchestrated performances on screen. Of course, in reality, people working on pure enthusiasm would not have money for costumes, entourage and audio-video equipment, but it is better to just forget about it and enjoy the show. The guys dance really talented, each of their numbers is shot in its own style and has an infectious energy.
The plot of the film, of course, is not original, and the main characters have plant psychology. On the other hand, the story is simple enough and naive enough that the viewer does not get distracted from the main theme of the story: be cooler! At the moment, Step Forward 4 has really outperformed the competition, but we’ll see what happens next.

Any problem in the world can be solved by dancing. (James Brown)
"Step Forward 4" - the continuation of the famous franchise about street dancing. I love dance movies, I watch them for aesthetic pleasure, so to speak, because I am not indifferent to dance, for me it is a hobby, and I never find fault with the plot. Well, another competition from the guys, well, they take the hall, well, there is no place to perform, the main thing is that they show us, and they always show the upper class.
But, in this part, everything is a little different, the writers apparently decided to break the rules, which was repeated throughout the film by his characters. Here, dancers and other residents can lose their homes, and as a protest, they organize dance flash mobs. In addition to the amazing dance line, it was not without love, in general, say, everything as always, but not quite. There are twice as many dances, music, costumes, dancers, finally – in general, the flash mob succeeded. By the way, about dancing, it is impossible not to mention the impeccable choreography, stunning staging of all the numbers, without exception, they all turned out to be very bright and memorable. And I only noticed at the end that we didn't see any rehearsal, except for the minute rehearsal of Shawn and Emilly, but that didn't spoil the whole picture.
As far as the dancers are concerned, oh, they're always on top. You can see that the guys are professionals in their field, I was breathtaking from their dancing, it was so powerful and dynamic. Especially impressed, of course, the main characters - Ryan Guzman and Catherine McCormick - an amazing beautiful couple. I like that we met again with Pirates from Part 3. But most of all I was pleased with the appearance of the moose, I knew that he would appear, and I was waiting for him, and he appeared very brightly. It is a pity that it was not so long to see it, but for this, thank you very much.
It is impossible not to mention the musical accompaniment, the soundtracks were so perfectly selected that it was simply impossible to sit still.
Step Forward 4 is the best dance film for me, it always carries a sea of positivity, delight, admiration. Such films really inspire, motivate, encourage action, and for the especially lazy – let you just relax, admire the tanned, slim bodies, beautiful landscapes and not bother, how will it all end? Just watch and enjoy, it's a real treat for the eyes.

What do you think of this movie? Atmosphere A lot of drive, adrenaline, sea of cool music and of course dances!
The plot of the film, unfortunately, quite banal. Mowers, the so-called team of dancers, arrange flash mobs and upload their videos to the Internet. The prize is promised a considerable - $ 100k for 10 million views. But the money fades into the background when there are disagreements in the relationship of the girl and her father, as well as the friendship of the MOBs themselves. The whole storyline is shown vividly, dynamically. It is very interesting and interesting to watch.
Actors are well-chosen. Here we will see the old heroes of the step, and many new ones. For the game, the actors will be put 4 out of 5. But they dance amazingly, so you immediately forget about the shortcomings.
I would like to pay special attention to shooting. Here the cameraman and the director worked for glory. They managed to immerse us, the audience, with our heads in the atmosphere of what is happening. The dancing is excellent.
The soundtrack is perfect! Diluting and introducing something new - they succeeded. Dubstep fits perfectly into the film and does already good dancing, even better.

Dance is the only art form in which we ourselves are an instrument.
(Rahel Farnhagen)
Delight! Delight! Delight! The slogan for this film is never better. Now the 4th part has been released, and the movies are getting better and better every time. Some people say that without dancing, this movie would have been worthless. But let's think about what people expect when they sit down to watch "Step Up"? That's right, dance! A lot of dancing! And, oh my God, I saw them!
For the first time in the plot of this mm... until quadrology (I read that part 5 will be) there are no battles. Members of the dance group The MOB dance in different places and record everything on video in order to win $100,000 from the YouTube site. The main character - Sean, falls in love with the daughter of a businessman Emily, who loves to dance and no longer wants to obey his father. She joins their team to help them win. What will happen next for yourself, but I will say that the plot is quite interesting. A lot of people say it is banal. I started crying and thought I needed help from doctors. I was so impressed with the ending... They no longer dance for the sake of viewing, but dance for themselves. Come on, you'll see for yourself.
Once again, Step Up is getting better and better every time, not the other way around, as usual. It was amazing - the first time I remembered all the dances, not just the final one. I sat and wentosebumps went over my body, and my legs convulsively twitched, wanted to dance.
Great music accompanies us throughout the film. Every track is a masterpiece. I'm delighted.
