I must say that the impression after watching was quite pleasant. Of course, a trifle, but still it feels that smart people worked on the picture - despite a modest budget, the absence of superstars and some template, the theme worked out very well within the given framework. And sometimes things can happen on the screen, which sometimes will be a surprise even for a sophisticated viewer.
The actors are selected very successfully and play no worse than some famous Hollywood stars. Nick Fury performed by David Hassellhof turned out what you need - charming, ironic, but at the same time when you need - tough and decisive, with a cigar in his mouth and a couple of tricks Prozapa (and yes - this is the same Hassellhof that flashes in the Guardians of the Galaxy 2) I can not but note the chic companion of the hero performed by Lisa Rinna and Sandra Hess, whose heroine turned out to be quite a sexy villain and of course remembered.
In fact, “Behead Hydra” is almost a comedy action movie, so you should not take it too seriously and certainly not dig into it, looking for minuses. For example, in the series “Agents of SHIELD” despite the relatively solid budget, things are much, much worse.

Superagent Nick Fury is now associated with Samuel L. Jackson. But it wasn't always that way. The original Fury, who appeared in Marvel comics in 1963, was white. He became black in 2001 in the Ultimate universe. And in 1998 there was the first appearance of the hero in a feature film (in animated series he glowed often). He was played by David Hasselhoff, a TV star of the 80s and 90s, familiar to many on the TV series “Knight of the Roads” and “Rescuers of Malibu”.
The script was written by David Goyer ("Blade-1-3,"Batman: The Beginning). And he included many references to comic books in the movie. There are such characters as Alexander Pierce, Fury Dugan's partner, Baron von Struder and his son Andrea, Arnim Zola. And the main opponent is the notorious organization Hydra. Although the plot itself is full of typical clichés of militants of those years: the main character with friends confronts the terrorist threat and saves the world at the last minute. How many times have we seen this in the movies?
The film is quite cheap from the technical side, the action is not so good, although in places the film looks quite cheerful. Almost the only one who pulls all the action David Hasselhoff. His image of a brutal and ironic super-agent, not parting with a cigar and constantly making jokes, is definitely good. It is a pity that the other actors do not support him and play very mediocre.
Typical Class B action movie from the '90s. I’m curious now because of my attachment to Marvel comics and because it’s the first big screen appearance of SHIELD Director Nick Fury. A worthy performance by David Hasselhoff. By the way, in the original film was called Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD.

A television mix of superheroics and template serial drama, seasoned with an Indian action movie.
In the late 90s, when television projects were not yet allocated multimillion-dollar budgets, a film about Nick Fury, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., was released. The director was Rod Hardy, who never leaked to the big screens of Hollywood, but shot only TV series and films for TV.
The plot is built around two warring organizations: S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra, good and evil, all in the classics of superhero films. Hydra continues to develop a deadly virus, but how it works and what will happen to humanity, the film shows only a glimpse. Despite the abundance of agents, the organization of good can not resist the enemy without Nick, and he is called back into service. It was interesting to see this character played by David Hasselhoff, and this was how the superhero was portrayed in his first comics. Always smoking, throwing "sharp" jokes, this character does not cause admiration, although the actor himself has some charisma. His chosen one plays Lisa Rinna (the heroine’s name is painfully long): a pretty actress with a Barbie face. From their conversations, it becomes clear what kind of relationship they have developed, but the feeling is that these dialogues were written for a Brazilian soap opera, and accidentally confused the script sheets. And the play of these actors is not shining sincerity. David and Lisa may have been known for their roles in the series Malibu Rescue, but they have long since been forgotten. Who really drew any sympathy was Sandra Hess, playing the villain. And it turned out to be completely caricatured: with a sinister laugh, a superhero walk, a strange love for his father. Especially remember the scene where she shoots - without laughing you can not look.
It is difficult to call the film a fighter - a weak production of action, evokes thoughts about Bollywood. About special effects can not talk, given the year of creation and the format of the work, but the spray that changes the face is overkill, even in our era of digital technologies and special effects, such a gadget has not come up with a logical explanation. Music in the background plays its role as a superhero march, but is not remembered.
It is funny to read the description of the plot: a powerful company, an unprecedented deadly virus, a terrible epidemic, the threat of complete destruction. Loud words and a quiet dusty film, it turned out to be a collection of clichés, and, unsuccessful: here you and a superhero with a villain who continues the work of her father, and robots-doubles, and a clairvoyant, and grubbing the boss and employee, and the adoption of new technologies by the hero, and clarifying relations with the ex-lover, and pathetic speeches. Watch only the most ardent fans of Marvel, well, or those who want to laugh at this parody in the company of friends.

Huh? Got it? What a pun in my headline - "one eye," ahaha! Okay, okay? Nick Fury, one eye! Oh, Raptor 2, you're a really great comedian. .
Seriously, Marvel has never had a relationship with television. I'm not talking about animated series - they were amazing - I'm talking about TV series and movies, with real actors. Essentially, having left the entire cinematic history of this universe, it is safe to say that the only one who is really lucky on TV is the Hulk. There were really good series and movies about him. In second place is the friendly neighbor Parker Man, the series about which was quite single-celled, but Nicholas Hammond played his role well. And the rest - the dilogy "Captain America", "Dr. Strange", "Blade" - it's all such a cheap rolling field that it's scary to think about it.
The stagnant state of affairs threatens to shake the coming series "Shch." I.T.' about an organization that looks at the world from a bird's-eye view of its aircraft carrier, strictly threatening the finger of malicious criminals (and at the same time putting the director of the Green Goblin in the place of the director in the comics, but now not about this). However, small screens have already hosted agents of S.H.I. I.T.A., in the 1998 TV movie.
David Hasselhoff is the perfect Nick Fury. Exactly in line with the comic-book image, David does cool things, hits the government junkies in the face, smokes and exterminates the world evil represented by the terrorist organization Hydra. At some points it seems that Nick is like Wolverine, but Fury has the advantage - he has appeared in the comics before.
Still, if you can look beyond Fury’s almost limitless coolness, you can see how rich the movie is in comic book characters (if you know them, of course). These characters are not the first echelon and they cannot be identified immediately, but the same Dr. Arnim Zola was, for example, in the First Avenger, and the Viper was in the fresh Wolverine. Well, for connoisseurs of comics there is a whole gallery - from Baroness de Fontaine to Baron von Strucker.
But no baronesses, counts and other corporals will hide the obvious fact that the price of the film is three pennies, and yes, I am now in the literal sense. Hasselhoff's coolness flattens, but does not remove - the aircraft carrier 'Shch'. I. T. a' looks like a trough with unnaturally large legs, for the base of "Hydra" is considered to be a warehouse with a pair of Hydra banners, and fights and shootouts are momentary and Russian series are reminded that for a film about a supercool agent - an obvious and fat minus.
It’s not a failure, but it’s not what I would expect to see in front of the TV in the evening. I understand the television of the time and the conditions under which this film was made, so whether it should have been made then is a question (and they are especially hard asked when you see the godlessly replaying Sandra Hess as the Viper), but the existence of this tape justifies the local image of Fury - or rather, a reminder of what it should be really, and not in the imagination of screenwriters who took specifically for this character is not the right reference point (what a nasty thing, this is your Ultimate universe). . . ) .
The greatest plus of the film in the chapters of the hero, it is depicted as it could be seen in the Marvel animated series. Both in appearance and character. (That in the new Marvel films the role of Fury is played by a Negro makes me sad.)
The plot is unpretentious and simple, quite consistent with the level of any separate series from the same animated series, as well as American militants of the 90s - the terrorists want to destroy America, and the good guy is trying to stop them.
Otherwise, failure is failure. Actors, camera work, scenery, costumes, special effects - everything corresponds to the series category-B from the 90s, with no budget. Sadness.
Although, on the other hand, a kind of nostalgia for childhood woke up - at that time I watched a lot of this.
There were never any rules of the game for me.
Colonel Fury, played by David Haselhof, turned out to be exactly what I had imagined in 1996 while watching my favorite X-Men and Spider-Man animated series on STC.
For starters, the classical view is still white, not black. It was enough for me to watch a two-hour movie about the adventures of an old-school cowboy.
The film, shot in 1998, is frankly full of cheapness. There are no rich special effects “Batman Forever” and the First episode of Star Wars, high-quality extras and scenery “Titanic”, there is no beautiful actor’s “Game” with the epic “Saving Private Ryan” (all these films released from 1995 to 1998). However, there is a typical pro-American pathos (though in modest quantities) and a lot of Haselhof.
Honestly, I’m a fan of Knight of the Roads and Rescuers of Malibu (although in a distant childhood), but this is the second feature film with David that I liked. The first was the Musketeers Club, which I watched from the video on the pirate cassette.
Of the entire cast, you believe Haselhof, the rest are clearly cheating, even cartoon villains fade in front of the brave face of the colonel. Even the beautiful Sandra Hess, the star of the TV series “Crime Scene” and “Underwater Odyssey” does not pull on the main villain. About the rest to say nothing at all, worked and earned, although the budget of the film was by the standards of the time is not bad, fees are not impressed, and critics did not appreciate.
From a technical point of view, this is a blatant failure. S.H.I.E.L.D. transports are a pathetic sight, the hull of the Apache helicopter with vertical takeoff engines, and even very vaguely drawn. The S.H.I.E.L.D.'s headbase is a strange thing, although the visual and conceptual parallels with the current version are easily traced. A flying aircraft carrier, in this case it is a typical American aircraft carrier, but mounted on a giant platform with four jet engines. Again, not clearly drawn. I will not talk about costumes, decorations and paraphernalia, because In the film there are only 4 types of scenery and only 6 types of gadgets. I'd rather keep quiet about the rest, so to speak, there will be a surprise later.
I won't talk much about the story. The global terrorist organization Hydra seeks to destroy the world, which is simply an incredibly original concept, with the help of a deadly virus created during the war with Germany and stored in the blood of the frozen father of the main villain nicknamed “Viper”. And Fury tries to stop her, along the way receiving a deadly kiss from the Viper, slowly killing our hero. Meanwhile, the virus in missiles is targeting Manhattan, where else.
The conclusion is simple and unpretentious: for its time it was not a bad one-time film about the hero of Marvel comics, though without a typical screensaver.
Bottom line:
