Unstoppable Expect from Robert Schwentke in this film adaptation of the comic-fighter with an abundance of comedic elements could be anything, he shot the magnificent “Illusion of Flight” and completely disgusting “The Time Traveler’s Wife”, regularly working with not weak casting, and here he collected real monsters of his business, in the good sense of the word. The old school and the tried-and-tested guard breaks to its fullest, and the film itself turned out to be one of the best fighters of our time!
The fact that this is a film adaptation of comics, in this case, few people will really attract, there is no theme of superheroes, and few people have ever heard about these three issues, where even the story is not really finished. But casting makes you just jump with delight. In one film, in an abundance of action and shootouts, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich came together, in addition to them the extremely brutal Helen Mirren, the charismatic Carl Urban, the spectacular Richard Dreyfus and even the chic Julian McMahon! However, this is not all, but the head is around. And everyone manages to perform at the maximum of opportunities, as far as the character prescribed in the script allows.
And since we are talking about the script, it is worth dwelling on it in more detail. The story skillfully combines dashing brawl, with twisted and unexpected turns, as well as an abundance of beautiful humor, the spirit of which all this cool story is imbued from beginning to end, without breaking into a farce or a set of stupidities. First of all, this is an action movie, or even an action thriller, but there is so much first-class humor in it that laughter, delight and the desire to applaud arise regularly, on every spectacular scene.
Technically, Schwentke managed to present an exciting story, simultaneously and in stages, as if in fact we are in front of the chapters, or rather the volume, of a comic book, but at the same time in such a frenzied dynamics of events that the rhythm and tension keep from the beginning of the action right up to the end, without exchanging for long respite. Operator work regularly twists the camera, which visually looks extremely plastic and exciting, but can tire of the regularity and abundance of use of the technique. However, the film was made masterfully, to the envy of many militants of recent years. No excess close-ups, no excessive shaking or missing spectacular moments in the frame. On the contrary, everything looks calibrated to a millimeter, every angle is perfect, and every special effect, whether it is an explosion from a bazooka or Willis, brutally leaving the car at full speed - looks amazing and breathtaking!
In the story, it is also impossible not to note how cool the Russians are shown. Brian Cox turned out to be the Ivan I would like to see in every Hollywood film, if it skips theme of Russia. Not without a few humorous scenes jokes, filed very characteristically and successfully.
The colorfulness of the characters is impressive not for a joke, and after watching it seems that it is not the heroes of the film who decided to shake the old days, but the cast-list participants themselves agreed to break away to the maximum, which they did with joy. That is what they are, and that is why we love them. Real, daring, extreme, and just unstoppable! And it is likely that nothing more chic in this genre has never happened. The film famously combines “Die Hard”, “Mission: Impossible” and much more, delighting at the same time at the highest level and a delightful acting pitch with marvelous casting, and special effects, and plot, and jokes, remaining in memory forever unforgettable movie attraction!
